Hi, * Peter Karlsson wrote (2005-05-04 07:02): Alexandre Pineau: I haven't this error here. Have you installed the open motif library? I agree, it looks like a library error on first sight. I'm not sure how this linking works in Debian though: Shouldn't it be possible to have both installed? Yes, I have openmotif installed, as it was required for plugin support in my browser (Opera): ii openmotif 2.1.30-5 The Open Motif runtime components. Are you sure Opera doesn't work with Lesstif? It might demand OM and still work with Lesstif. What is the result of 'nedit -V'? I recently upgraded from Woody to Sarge, I didn't have this problem with the Woody version of nedit, even though I had openmotif installed there, too. IIRC, Woody's NEdit is statically linked to Lesstif, so no problem like this can come up. Bug#307462: munin-node: installation hangs, possible problem with cpu plugin
retitle 307462 Workaround required for Net::Domain brokenness causing timeouts (#275024) quit * Marc Haber Next time, better clone the bug for reassignment against the other package and leave the original open against your package so that the issue can be seen by people experiencing the same behavior. That would have saved me some debugging time today. Sorry about that, I wasn't aware that this actually would occur in a normal situation (#275024 only happened during installation of Debian- Edu, according to the submitter). And it isn't a bug in Munin, strictly speaking. * Tore Anderson For some strange reason, this module makes a lot of weird DNS lookup even though all the information it needs sits right there in /etc/hosts. So, given a DNS server which times out on requests instead of answering NXDOMAIN or something else right away, you'd have to wait for a lot of timeouts in order for the Net::Domain::hostfqdn() call to finish (in my testing, six (6) times!!). * Marc Haber Why is the local hostname resolved that often? I don't know, you'd have to ask the Net::Domain author. Seems broken to me, in any case - especially when hostname --fqdn manages to find the hostname without any DNS lookups. The Sys::Hostname workaround I suggested mimics the behaviour of hostname --fqdn, which seems to be the Proper Way. Thanks for working on this. You can close this bug report if you think that there is nothing more that munin can do. Now that I know that #275024 can bite us in normal environments, I'll just keep it open and try to get a workaround in there soon. In light of tonight's freeze, it seems unlikely that such a fix will make it into Sarge - unless of course I can sneak it in alongside a fix for a yet-to-be-reported =important bug. :-) Oh, by the way, I forgot to tell you: You can work around this yourself by adding host_name your.fully-qualified.hostname in /etc/munin/munin-node.conf. That should prevent it from making any hostname lookups at all. Regards, -- Tore Anderson -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe. Trouble? Bug#70052: Reloading whole groups list when you use a new server for the first time and it doesn't finish all
I've ran into two variations of this bug in the past and I thought I'd add a note about what I know from upstream: Variation 1: If configured for 2 upstream server and noactive on neither, Leafnode will try and refetch every time until it gets active file for _both_ in the same run. It is not happy to have the active from just one. This was essentially declared WONTFIX by upstream (don't know if they'd accept a patch...) http://www.fredi.de/maillist/archiv/2004/msg00499.html Variation 2: If configured for 2 upstream servers and noactive on one, Leafnode may try and refetch unnecessarily if there has been problems with the server marked noactive This was fixed in 1.10.6: http://www.fredi.de/maillist/archiv/2004/msg00635.html -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe. [Chris Leishman] Can you please confirm that you are using libxmlrpc-c0-dev? Oh, I was definitely using libxmlrpc-c0-dev. I had just upgraded from Woody when I ran into the problem. In the Sarge (testing) distribution, the current package is libxmlrpc-c3-dev. I got a tip from one of the release manager about this, and upgrading solved the problem. If not, can you try upgrading and test again? Would it be an idea to provide an automatic upgrade path from libxmlrpc-c0-dev to libxmlrpc-c3-dev? Bug#307609: ifscheme: feature request - scheme selection by boot parameters
Package: ifscheme Version: 1.3-3 Severity: wishlist Hi there ! Wouldn't it be good if you would be able to select your scheme directly at boot time ? I would really like to see an option to pass the scheme i want to use that way. It shouldn' t be too hard to implement, IMO. I thought about a script in /etc/init.d run at lvl S somewhere near networking, parsing /proc/cmdline for a ifscheme=something part, and then simply executing the command /sbin/ifscheme something. Bug#307611: aspell-bin: Soundslike is not used when looking up corrections
Package: aspell-bin Version: 0.60.2+20050121-2 Severity: important Even for dictionaries with soundslike activated, Aspell does not use soundslike when looking up corrections. A demonstration: First the preparations: % sudo apt-get install aspell-fr % echo $'bordeaux\nbordo' test_soundslike Exactly the same problem also exists in Danish, but here we use the French dictionary, since there are reported other bugs against aspell-da. Now we check the soundslike of the two words: % LANG=fr_FR aspell soundslike test_soundslike bordeauxPORTO bordo PORTO As you can see, Aspell knows that these two strings would be pronounced roughly the same. Then ask Aspell to check the file for misspellings: % LANG=fr_FR aspell check test_soundslike Aspell (correctly) accepts bordeaux. Then it (also correctly) complains about bordo. But the suggestions for correcting the error are: 1) bord 6) borde 2) ordo 7) bord 3) bords8) porto 4) boldo9) bordai 5) borda0) bordons Of which only porto has the same soundslike as bordeaux and bordo. This error basically means that the Aspell version in Debian is no better than Ispell, while it is wasting more disk space and doesn't have to code-maturity which Ispell has. -- System Information: Debian Release: 3.1 APT prefers unstable APT policy: (500, 'unstable'), (500, 'testing') Architecture: powerpc (ppc) Kernel: Linux 2.6.8-powerpc Locale: LANG=fo_FO.ISO8859-1, LC_CTYPE=fo_FO.ISO8859-1 (charmap=ISO-8859-1) Versions of packages aspell-bin depends on: ii libaspell150.60.2+20050121-2 The GNU Aspell spell-checker runti ii libc6 2.3.2.ds1-21 GNU C Library: Shared libraries an ii libgcc11:3.4.3-12GCC support library ii libncursesw5 5.4-4 Shared libraries for terminal hand ii libstdc++5 1:3.3.5-12The GNU Standard C++ Library v3 -- no debconf information -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe. It certainly can't be supported by Debian. ok. but it's surprising that matrox supplied driver's software rendering atleast works, and hits 300fps in glxgears, where as stock debian driver only hits 120-200 fps and only shows a black window. debian-supplied mga_drv.o just shows blank window without warning message libGL error: InitDriver failed. This might be a bug in the xlibmesa-dri package, assuming only components provided by Debian are involved. (==) MGA(0): Matrox HAL module used Is this also used with the Debian supplied mga driver? If so, please try without. no, it was also done with matrox supplied mga driver. (**) MGA(0): Option AGPMode 4 Does not using this option make a difference? Tried that suggestion by someone last night - defaults to 1x and no difference. Also tried specifying ram size to specific amount, no difference. Also changed AGP aperture to 32megs, atleast that removed a warning message about mtrr ranges. I am stumped as to what is the problem. 3 things that I have changed before it worked and after I noticed it does not work: 1) upgrade bios to latest beta version, in the hope to solve other issues (weirdly - that problem disappeared without effort a few days before bios upgrade) 2) kernel upgraded from 2.6.10-ac1 to 2.6.11 (custom compiled by myself) 3) ran apt-get dist-upgrade a couple of weeks ago Another suggestion I tried - disabling APIC - renders my ethernet card and usb bus as useless. I'm not sure where the problem lies, because there are no useful error / warning messages to indicate a problem. it might be a hardware problem but I need to make sure it is. When scrolling in the virtual screen, every 32 horizontal pixels , there appears to be a 4 pixel vertical bar on the right side, mirrored from the centre. A hardware defect/malfunction? This never happened with my G200 card. weirdly enough, it does not happen with the matrox supplied driver (but it appears to jump twice as many pixels horizontally to avoid it) I guess the best thing to determine that is to try windows. Any other suggestions? -David.
Bug#306588: init.d script exit 1 when stopping openvpn (approved)
Hi, I see the same problem with the current init script. I also suggest the fix with rm -f /var/run/openvpn.$NAME.status. In my setup, the file is always not existant with the test, so the line [ -e /var/run/openvpn.$NAME.status ] \ rm /var/run/openvpn.$NAME.status results in an no-Zero exit status which leads to a breakout of the script. The daemon itself is succesfully stopped. But the restart with the original script will fail until the mentioned change is introduced! Bug#260403: 7025-F30 not working
I just wanted to say that I have a 7025-F30 that will not boot for what appears to be the same reason for this bug. I have gone expert mode and went manually to a commandline and found the sym53c8xx module not to load due to missing symbols. I then did depmod -a. The next time I tried to load the module, the box locked. I couldn't ^C out. I had to do a cold reboot. Bug#307633: request-tracker3.4: RT_SiteConfig.pm installs with incorrect permissions
On Wed, May 04, 2005 at 11:59:27AM +0100, Katherine Spice wrote: /etc/request-tracker3.4/RT_SiteConfig.pm installs as rw by root only causing Can't locate /etc/request-tracker3.4/RT_SiteConfig.pm in @INC error when trying to run rt-setup-database This is not a bug, it was done this way by design. The file RT_SiteConfig.pm contains, at least, the username and password for the RT database so it is preferable that only root can read it. If you want to make this file readable by other users (such as www-data for running in cgi mode) then you have to do so yourself. It is done this way so that the sysadmin knows that the database access parameters are readable by other users. For instance, if you have php installed on the system anyone running a php script could read the database access details if the file is readable by www-data. We give full instructions as to how to install and configure RT in the files /usr/share/doc/request-tracker3.4/README.Debian and /usr/share/doc/request-tracker3.4/INSTALL.Debian. These instructions are all based on being run as root. I hope that clarifies things, Stephen Quinney -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe. Trouble?
