Bug#354937: calendar: 30 * runs on March 2

2006-03-02 Thread Silas S. Brown
Package: bsdmainutils
Version: 6.0.17
Severity: normal

An entry to appear on the 30th of each month, marked 30
*, will appear on March 2 in a non-leap year and March
1 in a leap year. I'm not sure if this would always be
desirable or not but it would be nice if it were documented
in the man page.

It's a shame there is no way to specify the last day of
every month or N days before the end of every month
by using negative day numbers.

Gotcha Mountpoint and symlink to mountpoint given. Its interesting
that the old version somehow detected this gotcha and didnt add the
files as dupes. I am pretty shure i didnt change the collection paths

Ciao Emanuele,
I'm sorry but I can't do anything for this bugreport but wait. I
already contacted Ian (the upstream author of formencode) to clear some
license issues which prevented me to upload the package to the archive,
but he hasn't had enough time to upload a modified package on his

All I can do is to wait for such a release.

Is that a new option?
Can you give an example interfaces line with plain eth devices?
I am not aware of a method of seperating ipv4 and ipv6 in the

I agree that it's good idea to submit the changes to upstream for
broader use. But if the change cannot be done, then the packager's
responsibility is to provide program and documentation that is suited
for the current system. In this case for Debian users.

Documentation that does not reflect locations in current system
is buggy and should be fixed.

It is standard practise to have diffs and apply them for Debian
packages. A direct change in manual page in this case will be handled
by debuild automatically and there is no dependeny fo quilt.

There are many other ways to deal with packages, like VCS (Version
contol system) that can deal with the differences with ease.

We should consider the end user who uses the utility.

Bug#354723: unixodbc: fails to retrieve data from ODBC connection

2006-03-02 Thread Johannes Ranke
Yes, and it seems to not be a bug in unixodbc. Reassigning to rodbc.

I am just rebuilding R with the nostrip option because this is what I am
  really interested in.

The only segfault you reported was in php; I don't see that rebuilding R
with debugging symbols will be particularly useful. A backtrace of the php
segfault, with or without debugging symbols, may be helpful, but that's a
separate bug from the rodbc bug.

You are right, I was not thinking. Now I can't get the backtrace of the
php segfault:

[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ cat odbctest.php
?php
$dbh = odbc_connect('cytotox', 'cytotox', 'cytotox') or
die(odbc_errormsg() );
?
[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ php odbctest.php

(gdb) shell php odbctest.php
(gdb)

gdb does not tell me anything. Sorry for my ignorance.

Did you try setting believeNRows=FALSE in odbcConnect() ? From
 help(odbcConnect, package=RODBC):

  odbcConnect(dsn, uid = , pwd = , case = nochange,
  believeNRows = TRUE)
  [...]
believeNRows: logical. Is the number of rows returned by the ODBC
connection believable? Not true for Oracle and Sybase,
   apparently.

This has been the fix on other systems, it could simply that RODBC gets
handed a bad value. Apparently common with some backends, as I recall I had
to use that too with some Sybase-on-Solaris versions a while back.

Yes, I have tried this with the exact same result. I have to stress that
this only happens on ONE of my systems (pure amd64). Probably something
really stupid but I just can't get it.

because automake isn't used, the simple procedure does not work, and I
end up with pdfetex linked against lots of libraries, again:

Grr ... I guess we would need somebody who really understands this
library stuff to fix this for tetex-bin. As long as there is no library
transition for one of those libraries I am not sure if it is worth
putting much work into this, though.

Norbert, can you please run ldd on texlive's pdfetex binary to see
whether the problem also exists in texlive - I guess yes.

 apt-get install jadetex
 rm /var/lib/texmf/web2c/latex.fmt

This does the following things:
- it creates all formats, including jadetex
- it spits out the stuff when generating the latex format

So I would say the same problem exists in TeX live.

Bug#354939: openssh-client: Customizable ssh password prompt

2006-03-02 Thread R.Ramkumar
Package: openssh-client
Version: 1:4.2p1-5
Severity: wishlist

When ssh is used with an GUI program like ssh-askpass for password
information, it really leaves the user clueless (especially with
something like ssh-askpass-fullscreen which grabs the keyboard and
the screen) with just a prompt Password and a text entry :)
Another use case: take sshfs, and asking it to reconnect every time
the connection is lost, makes it impossible to use any other means
but trusted keys (not possible many a time) or ssh-askpass. Due to
network trouble, the connection gets lost and you suddenly get a
full screen asking for Password... well, what was that?! :)

I could think of two solutions:

1. Offer to provide more information especially when using a
password request program (the command line/[EMAIL PROTECTED] to which it
   is connecting?)

2. Give a -o PasswordPrompt which the parent program can use.

An even better solution would be to allow a PasswordPrompt with %
escapes to fill in with the [EMAIL PROTECTED], options etc. That way, I can
use a single command line with many connections to many places.

Regards,
Ramkumar.

Bug#354940: xfonts-konsole: Konsole should enable bitmap font

2006-03-02 Thread Piotr Roszatycki
Package: xfonts-konsole
Version: 4:3.4.3-3
Severity: wishlist

The konsole should provide the configuration file for fontconfig, which
enables the bitmap font for terminal. My proposition:

cat /etc/fonts/conf.d/10-xfonts-konsole.conf END
?xml version=1.0?
 !DOCTYPE fontconfig SYSTEM fonts.dtd
 fontconfig
  selectfont

The enabling all bitmap fonts with `dpkg-reconfigure -plow fontconfig' is IMO
not a good solution. A very few fonts should be enabled even if global
setting for bitmap fonts is disabled.

Bug#203792: The -i options should be set on by default

2006-03-02 Thread Jari Aalto

Frank Lichtenheld:

dpkg-source already ignores such files when invoked with the -i
switch (at least in the default regex). So the meaning of this bug
either is dpkg-source should ignore some files even without the
-i switch, or even dpkg-source should assume -i per default.
Making a patch for this should be easy but it needs to be decided,
if it is wanted... Opinions? (my personal one is: not the former,
too confusing, maybe the latter, but that is a big behaviour change
so could break some packages in interesting ways...)

The well known version control sofware should be supported out of the
box. The default ignore pattern should be minimal, but sufficient.
I propose:

CVS
RCS
.svn
.bzrUbuntu future VCS; http://bazaar-vcs.org/

Kindly move this bug forward.

Bug#354943: FTBFS: please remove Makefile

2006-03-02 Thread Roberto Pariset
Package: jpilot
Version: 0.99.8-0.99.9-pre-20060225-2
Severity: serious
Tags: patch
Justification: fails to build from source

Hello,
jpilot 0.99.8-0.99.9-pre-20060225-2 doesn't compile on many arches. The
problems is that it's missing the .deps directory. Example:
Makefile:551: .deps/address.Po: No such file or directory
[...]
Solution to this would be simply erase the Makefile: by doing so, in fact,
configure will be forced to rerun and .deps will be generated.

Thanks,
Roberto

This is a weird one. I've never seen any other even similar report

E.g., does it also happen with a non-PREEMPT kernel? Basically, try to
eliminate any variables that might be considered special on your system.

Actually, it looks like https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=541

Could this patch be applied and sent upstream?

Bug#354604: [patch] fmtutil and formats that preload other formats

2006-03-02 Thread Frank Küster
Hi everybody,

some formats depend on existing formats, mostly on latex.fmt, and
load the file when they are generated. Currently, when all formats are
created with fmtutil(-sys) --all, this means that latex.fmt (or
whatever) will be generated twice. The reason is that first latex.fmt
is generated, but it's lying in the temporary directory and not found by
kpathsea. When it comes to jadetex.fmt, latex.fmt is not found,
mktexfmt is called, latex.fmt is put into TEXMF(SYS)VAR, and jadetex.fmt
is created. When all is finished, the first latex.fmt is moved to
TEXMFSYSVAR.

The problem with that is not only that latex.fmt is generated twice,
which just takes some time. More annoying is the fact that in such a
case,

fmtutil-sys --all /dev/null

spits out the TeX output of the second generation of latex.fmt on the
terminal (because mktexfmt is supposed to only echo the generated
filename on stdout).

fmtutil sets and exports TEXINPUTS=$tmpdir:$TEXINPUTS, but that is not
sufficient. One has to set TEXFORMATS, too. I therefore suggest the
following patch, based on teTeX-3.0's version:

Bug#354925: apt-cacher: cached files of same name but from different path_maps break apt-cacher

2006-03-02 Thread Eduard Bloch
#include hallo.h
* Tony Lewis [Thu, Mar 02 2006, 03:17:18PM]:
 Package: apt-cacher
 Version: 1.5.1
 Severity: normal

 *** Please type your report

I am caching (amongst others) debian testing and ubuntu dapper repositories.
 When a package
exists in both, and the package has exactly the same filename, the second
 repository that tries
to use it does not download it (because it is already cached), but it
 mismatches the MD5 sum,
 and won't install.

Now this is really bad. I have always assumed that Ubuntu people would
modify the version string on every change. However, I had to learn now
the many packages have been rebuilt without such changes.

Suggest that there might be an option in the config file
   separate_repositories=1

Unfortunately, it is not that easy. That path_map thingie is a new
feature and is not a core concept of apt-cacher (unlinke in apt-proxy).
The packages have always been allowed to downloaded from anywhere (if
not restricted by administrator by setting URL filters) and stored in
the same directory so exactly this separation that you imagine has been
actively avoided, all storage locations have been merged.

Now I can change the code a bit to not remove the parent directories
when storing the files. However the next problem are people that already
have a working cache - the stored files would need to be moved to the
correct locations but this is a bit complicated without knowing their
origin.

OTOH... a conversion script could do that since their metadata
(checksums) is stored on some Packages file... the transition could be
done transparent by hacking it into the cleanup script... I need to
design the changes correctly (later) or it may break for someone.

Eduard.

Bug#354933: vlan: vconfig is called again for inet6 stanzas

2006-03-02 Thread James Harper
'man interfaces' will tell all, but to save you the trouble, my config
looks like:

auto eth0
iface eth0 inet static
 address 192.168.200.251
 netmask 255.255.255.0
 dns-search int.sbss.com.au
 dns-nameservers 127.0.0.1
iface eth0 inet6 static
address xxx:::0::1
 netmask 64

This is a router, which is why it has a static ip address. In most cases
this won't be required as auto-configuration will take care of it, which
is probably why this problem hasn't come up before.

There's two minor things still left. The README still says that the

And you didn't mention that you applied the patch or the bugs it closes

 Comments/Problems:

I partitioned the hard disk from OS X Installer's Disk Utility, basically
creating a 18GB HFS+ partition at the end of the disk for MacOS X and
leaving the rest of the disk free.

The installer completely failed to detect the partitions, and only offered
me to repartition my whole hard disk again.

this is very strange and should not have happened. Can you now that you have
the installed system, try to run parted on it, and see what it reports (use
only the print command of parted). if parted doesn't show the right thing,
could you file a bug report against parted, and append the first few sectors
of your disk (dd if=/dev/hda of=file_for_parted count=64) ?

If it shows this correctly in parted, then there is something horribly wrong
with partman.

I switched to the consolea and run mac-fdisk, which detected correctly the
partitions. I created the required partitions (Apple_Bootstrap, Swap and root)
with mac-fdisk and wrote the results to disk.

Afterwards I created and ext3 filesystem in the root partition, swap space
in the swap partition, ..., created the /target dir and mounted /dev/hda3
 there.

As the installer didn't allowed me to continue I deleted partman invocation
from /var/lib/dpkg/info/partman-base.postinst, that way I managed to continue
 with the installation.

yaboot had problems again because it tries to get information from partman,
so I edited /var/lib/dpkg/info/bootloader-install.postinst (or whatever is
named) to hardcode the Apple_Bootstrap partition there instead of asking
to partman and I finished the installation successfully.

Indeed. We maybe need some way to have yaboot-installer allow for manual
override of the auto-detected values coming from partman. Colin, any idea
about this ?

Friendly,

Sven Luther

Bug#354946: No manpage and no other kind of help.

2006-03-02 Thread Enrico Zini
Package: libocamlodbc-ocaml-bin
Version: 2.10-4
Severity: normal

Hello,

thanks for bringing on Ocaml in Debian!

I've had however a bit of a frustrating experience with
libocamlodbc-ocaml-bin.

In short:

 - libocamlodbc-ocaml-bin contains a biniki executable with no manpage
and no other kind of help
 - the package description makes it really hard to understand that this
   is an application
 - the package description does not say what kind of application it is.
I suggest something like: graphical application to run SQL queries
   on a database over ODBC.

Follows a bit of a longer feedback on my overall experience with biniki.

I've noticed libocamlodbc-ocaml-bin almost by accident when reviewing
some debtags submissions, and I've noticed that it's not a library but
an application, and I decided to give it a try.

First thing to report, is that it's very unlikely that someone would see
the name and description of this package and quickly figure out that it
contains an application. Renaming it to biniki, and/or changing the short
description into something like 'Graphical, multi-database access
application' would probably a good idea.

Also, the description as it is doesn't say what kind of database
application it is. From the description, it could as well be something
like a graphical, multi-database application to corrupt all the data in
the database without asking for confirmation :)

I assumed that it's a database browsing application of some sort.

Then I tried to run it:

 $ biniki
Usage : biniki base [user [password]]
 $ biniki --help
Fatal error: exception Ocamlodbc.SQL_Error(Error while connecting to
database --help as enrico with password : -1)
 $ LANG=C man biniki
 No manual entry for biniki
See 'man 7 undocumented' for help when manual pages are not available.

I was trying to understand what 'base' really meant. MySQL database
name? ODBC DSN? Type of database (mysql, psql...)?

If it's some sort of database name, 'test' can usually work:

 $ biniki test

First it tells me that ~enrico/.biniki does not exist, and asks me to
press ok. I can see no reason for that confirmation, though: the
program can very well create the file by itself, or if it's really
something that is needed, give instructions on how to create it.

Finally, I get to see what seems to be the main window of the program:
an entry box without a label telling what it is, and an 'Execute'
button. Most of the things I type in it give me 'unknown error'.

I tried the ?/About... menu: it doesn't tell me much about the program
(not even what it is), but at least tells me who I should blame for it :)

Finally, I had a try at a 'show tables' SQL command and I managed to get
a result window out. Enter does not work as I would expected in the
entry field, in that it shows a list of previous commands instead of
executing the command.

That's about all for my usage experience with biniki. As a glance, it
looks more like an example program for libocamlodbc rather than a proper
application, and I'd expect to find it as source code in
libocamlodbc-ocaml-dev rather than as a binary in a package of its own.
But in case you have ambitious plans for it, the previous part of this
mail might provide useful feedback for further improvements :)

Ciao,

Enrico

Thanks! H... This gives a whole new meaning for the
interfaces file to me...

This is a router, which is why it has a static ip address. In most cases
this won't be required as auto-configuration will take care of it, which
is probably why this problem hasn't come up before.

Correct.
Personally I always added the static addresses in the up after
the ipv4 stuff. Yours seems like the correct way. Hmmm. I have to
look into it. For me it is new behaviour that ifup will handle
multiple iface eth0 entries. (I probably didn't read the manpages
right).

I will experiment with it to try to understand what is going on.

Ard

Bug#302929: Improper copyright file

2006-03-02 Thread Holger Levsen
Hi Justin,

On Thursday 02 March 2006 03:28, Justin Pryzby wrote:

Yes. (etch as in stable, (maybe) not (soon) as in testing.)

 It was tagged 'pending'
for over 6 months, and the package hasn't been updated in nearly 4
 years.

According do my calender, January 22nd 2006 is merely 6 weeks ago, not six
month.

Upstream is working on it, but as there a numerous licence issues (soundfiles
fonts) this takes some time. An upload with only some of the issues fixed
isn't sensible.

That's another probllem, will have a look.

Bug#354819: installation-report: problems detecting partitions created by Disk Utility

this is very strange and should not have happened. Can you now that you

If it shows this correctly in parted, then there is something horribly
 wrong with partman.
I've got this:

as you see it gets an error, but it can continue if I ignore it, may be

  No proxy here.

 Strange.

What's even weirder is I can't get bugs.debian.org or p.d.o to send me
anything that's compressed in the first place using either reportbug
or curl... which brings me back to the idea of a proxy--perhaps a
*transparent* one that you're not aware of--on a router between you
 and bugs.debian.org.

(For example, try 'curl --compressed -v http://www.debian.org/Bugs/' -
on my box, I don't get any compression whatsoever.)

We're getting to it :-) The curl creates a compressed response on my
sid-box. However it doesn't do it on my sarge-box. The latter is in the
same LAN, it's the router here that sits before the UMTS-modem. That
one get's a normal text/html...

I still don't think it's a proxy here, because the first 2 requests
work, but the last one to pdo.debian.org is somehow uncompressed already
when gzip wants to uncompress it (See my other mail).

Ha, now I got at least something: curl from stable get's text/html while
unstable's curl get's gzip'ed text/html. So at least for curl it seems
that apache differentiates between the various versions.

BTW: reportbug from the sarge-box right next to me works, so this is
not a proxy problem, or that proxy knows which reportbug talks to him.
Because I tried to send the same UA_STR with unstables reportbug and
it's still the same problem.

I'll try to reproduce this with a self-written python program on the
weekend if you have no other ideas, because I'm beginning to think this
is a python problem introduced between -3 and -9...

Bug#354933: vlan: vconfig is called again for inet6 stanzas

2006-03-02 Thread James Harper
Personally I always added the static addresses in the up after
the ipv4 stuff. Yours seems like the correct way. Hmmm. I have to
look into it. For me it is new behaviour that ifup will handle
multiple iface eth0 entries. (I probably didn't read the manpages
 right).

It seems that it is also valid to specify an ipx stanza too (although I
can't imagine why anyone would :)

I'm not sure that the way the vlan (and bridge) tools hook into ifupdown
is entirely the right way to do it, or else maybe the ifupdown
interfaces file needs to be redesigned, which is more likely...

I've not used the bridge tools with an ipv6 static ip address before,
but I suspect that it will break in a similar way. With bridging you
have to specify things manually, but you'd still have to choose one
stanza to do it in, and ifdown would delete the bridge in the wrong
place again.

The best approach I can think of off the top of my head would be
something like:

auto eth0
iface eth0

auto vlan2
iface vlan2
 vlan-raw-device eth0

auto br0
iface br0
 bridge_ports eth2 eth3

proto eth0 inet static
 address 192.168.1.1
 netmask 255.255.255.0

proto eth0 inet6 static
 address 3ff0:1::1
 netmask 64

proto eth0 ipx
 param1 1
 param2 2

proto vlan1 inet static
 address 192.168.2.1
 netmask 255.255.255.0

proto eth0 inet6 static
 address 3ff0:2::1
 netmask 64

proto br0 inet static
 address 192.168.3.1
 netmask 255.255.255.0

But I guess a bug report on vlan isn't really the best place to discuss
this any further :)

James

I will assume that this is satisfactory and unless you object I will close

This is fine by me as it does achieve what I wanted to.

In an ideal world of course, I think it would be better if you could

I am trying to use po4a on Axiom documentation. My first attempts have
shown a weird behavior on some latex list environments (but most do work
properly). I have gathered all of them in the attached file.

I have not yet been able to understand the key problem (square
brackets? newlines?) nor to find workarounds.

Here are the commands I have used:
$ po4a-gettextize -f latex -m weird.tex -p weird.fr.po
$ less weird.fr.po
(deliberately no change to the po file)
$ po4a-translate -k 0 -f latex -m weird.tex -p weird.fr.po -l weird.fr.tex
$ latex weird.fr.tex

Thanks for this great tool,
Frederic Lehobey

Bug#344038: tinyca: No way to easily see cert expiry

The history window is not modal. You can open it and then switch to
the requests or certificates tab in the main window and sign, renew,
or revoke certificates. I'm not sure the history window gets
updated, though. I haven't (yet) tested this.

Of course, thanks for pointing that out. :-)

I'll check it out next time I have to issue/renew a cert.

Thanks again.

Bug#345467: debian-installer: powerpc root disk-image is too big to fit onto a floppy

2006-03-02 Thread Frans Pop
On Wednesday 01 March 2006 22:06, you wrote:
Sorry being so slow, I'll try to test new images again asap.

I'm afraid I've reverted the change I made because of comments in this
thread: http://lists.debian.org/debian-boot/2006/02/msg01007.html

It looks from that that my diagnosis was at least partially incorrect.

I'm going to let the powerpc people involved with d-i handle this further.

Cheers,

Bug#354087: kernel-image-2.6.8-2-686-smp: Oops due to PREEMPT

2006-03-02 Thread Thomas Seliger

Hi *,

this seems to be the identical to bug #354087:

I had this kernel bug triggered two times. The process that seemed guilty was
Coldfusion 5.0, running as an wwwrun-type user.
Both machines are HP DL380 with Intel Xeons and 3 GB of RAM. I was not able to reproduce that bug directly, it just appeared once on the two servers.
Please feel free to contact me via email, if I can provide any other info that would be usefull for you.

Best regards,
Tom

Bug#354809: [Pkg-db-devel] Bug#354809: db4.4: FTBFS (ppc64): syntax error in VERSION script

Or is the ppc64 documentation different?

not the documentation but the object file format indeed seems to be
different on ppc64.

Looking at the attached two outputs of 'objdump -t' for the file
'obj/.libs/db185.o' on ppc64 and amd64 it appears that the symbols that
are in the '.text' section on amd64 are in a section named '.opd' on
ppc64.

I am not an object file format expert at all, but I would take this
as an indication that the current method of parsing of the nm output
to create the Versions script is not really portable.

Regards
Andreas Jochens

Bug#350398: Is somebody going to fix this?

2006-03-02 Thread Brian M. Carlson
This bug (update-grub uses savedefault when grub itself does not support
it) is preventing my system from automatically starting when I reboot.
This is merely annoying for me, but someone who is new to Debian might
not know how to fix this, and this behavior is definitely unsuitable for
a release. It is also unsuitable for machines which might need to be
restarted via SSH (to upgrade to a new version of udev or a new kernel)
but do not have remote serial console access[0].

[0] The scenario where the new kernel/udev itself is broken is
ameliorated by the fallback option.

It has been in experimental for five weeks now, and AFICS no bugs have

after all, the Policy Manual says about the experimental distribution:

Hi !

You're the 2nd person which seems to have tested the experimental mc !

Anyway, I'll upload it in a few days.

Hi Panu,

Panu Kalliokoski wrote:
   Description : A curses-based Sokoban level editor

sokoedit is a curses-based editor for Sokoban levels, written in
Python. Sokoban is a traditional Unix game that requires wits and good
  pattern recognition abilities.
Allow me a general comment on your descriptions: please do try to adapt
them better to the situation of the average Debian user trying to decide
whether to install the described package.
In this case, written in Python seems rather irrelevant, a mention of
the sokoban implementation that can use the generated level is missing,
though.
Something similar applies to several packages (e.g. the best sokoban
implementation I know of of your ITP messages probably shouldn't be -
and likely isn't - in the description, a more verbose description of the
games might be useful in the cgames long description, I'm not sure that
all users realize that curses based means text-based gui).
Also, please try to fit your (short and long) descriptions better into
what's usual in Debian. Matthew Palmer's Debian-Mentors FAQ has helpful
references.

Bug#353693: Looking for a autotools/libtool expert: Unnecessarily linked libraries

2006-03-02 Thread Frank Küster
tags 353693 help
thanks

The Problem:

- Binaries in the tetex-bin package are unnecessarily linked against
libraries they do not use directly, but only indirectly through other
  libraries [1].

- The solution described at [2] doesn't work, probably because the
  package doesn't use automake.

You:

- Have some knowledge of the internal workings of autotools and libtool,
  or

- You want to take the opportunity to finally learn about these
  internals

- You have some time left

- You want to have fun debugging this issue, which isn't an important
problem now, but might get really annoying in the future

What we provide:

- A maintainer team (the Debian TeX Task Force) who are always eager to
learn, to listen to clever explanations, and to read your patches

- a package using autoconf2.13

- an unreleased upstream tree that has already been converted to
  autoconf2.59

Looking forward to receiving your application, including a short,
handwritten resume and desired salary ;-),

I think you can better try xsltproc and a simple XSLT stylesheet.

2006-03-02 Thread dzsabor

Hi,

the files seem to be fine now. I still have a problem but I'm not sure
whether this is the problem of the dict file, the server or the client.
I use the latest dictd and kdict from sid.

The problem is that define works for words with accentuated karakters
but match does not, like:

define alma -apple OK
match alma-apple OK
define körte-pear OK
match körte-not matches found

Could you decide whether this is a problem in the dict file or a bug
should be reported for the server/client?

Basically the same problem occurs at a place where debhelper would want

Maybe a good solution would be not to redirect stderr to /dev/null; this
way, all messages would be clearly visible, and I think they wouldn't
print anything to stderr in normal course of operation anyway.

Bug#354654: general: fat32 gets corrupted

2006-03-02 Thread Juan Piñeros
Hello,

Since I have the need to continue to work with my machine1, I finally did an
apt-get dist-upgrade for machine1, and installed debian kernel 2.6.15-1-686.
I erased fat32 partition and replaced it by a ext2 and give access to it from
windows using fs-driver. I will see if problems are still present (if I
continue to loose directories).

In machine2 I will also upgrade the kernel but without erasing the fat32, to
have a chance to see if the problems comes from the kernel. I will also
remove hdparm from machine2, if the kernel is not the problem.

I will let you know what are the results in the coming weeks, because if it is
a bug it worth to be reported.

All the best,
Juan.

echo -n sending
/usr/sbin/sendmail -ti $TEMPFILE
rm $TEMPFILE
echo done.

Thank you.

Bug#354969: Does not depend on libpantomime1

2006-03-02 Thread Matt Kraai
Package: libpantomime1-dev
Version: 1.1.2.dfsg-4
Severity: serious

libpantomime1-dev does not depend on libpantomime1.

This is serious because it causes lusernet.app to fail to build since
it can't find -lPantomime.

  Linking app LuserNET ...
 /usr/bin/ld: cannot find -lPantomime
collect2: ld returned 1 exit status

Bug#353844: gnomemeeting: package does not install on etch, neither does it build

Can you provide an URL where we can install this package
'by hand' ? The NEW queue does not seem to be available for
common users and the broken dependency with gnome is really
 annoying.

as was already explained, the URL for getting the packs as were uploaded
to NEW are at:
http://people.debian.org/~kilian/pkg-voip/
