Bug#378086: python-qt4-doc: simpletreemodel.py demo does not work on AMD64
Package: python-qt4-doc Version: 4.0-2 Severity: normal Hi, While trying to run the itemview demos on an AMD64 computer I ran into a problem: the QModelIndex are built by passing the id() of a python object (which is a C long integer) and the Qt API requires an int. The value returned by index.internalId() is truncated to an int, and this value is used to make a lookup in a python dictionary which was built using the original 64bit value, and therefore we get a KeyError and the demo does not work: simpletreemodel$ python simpletreemodel.py Traceback (most recent call last): File simpletreemodel.py, line 119, in parent childItem = self.object_dict[index.internalId()] KeyError: -414219776L Traceback (most recent call last): File simpletreemodel.py, line 87, in data item = self.object_dict[index.internalId()] KeyError: -414219776L snip I tried to use index.internalPointer() which returns a reference on the python instance being referenced by the model index. This works on i386, and segfaults on AMD64. And I am afraid that this can lead to strange things on i386 if the TreeItem is garbage collected. Bug#336583: ieee80211-source: Workaround
Package: ieee80211-source Version: 1.1.6-4 Followup-For: Bug #336583 This seems to be due to a call in /usr/src/linux-headers-2.6.17-1-686/Makefile to crmodverdir. This task does a mkdir -p on a directory, then rm's all the files in it. However, it looks like this operation would fail if there are only directories in the directory given. Bug#378090: pointing at title bar of window with long title should pop up tooltip showing full title
Package: kwin Version: 4:3.5.3-2 Severity: wishlist It would be great if, when I pointed my mouse at the title bar of a window with a long title like Index of file:///usr/share/doc/kde/HTML/en/KRegExpEditor/common - Mozilla then a tooltip appeared showing the full window title, even though my the window is too narrow to normally show the title. This currently already happens when I point my mouse at taskbar buttons, but not at title bars. I am using the B II window decoration theme. I do not know if B II has a setting to turn this on, but even if it does, it clearly is not the default. :-( Regards, Jason P.S. All, thank you for your work in writing, testing, and packaging kwin. If you add your own line with CONCURRENCY=something in /etc/default/rcS, it will override the default in /etc/init.d/rc. Bug#377468: djvulibre-plugin: undefined symbol XtShellStrings in nsdejavu.so
I believe to reproduce the problem it's enough to have djvulibre-plugin installed with any Mozilla software. In my case it's seamonkey. As I was playing with slime to see how different backends work, I hit that bug, but it only occured to me with CLisp. SBCL and CMUCL just worked. Bug#378086: [PyKDE] Bug#378086: python-qt4-doc: simpletreemodel.py demo does not work on AMD64

Bug#279757: Status of freewrl debian package?
Hi John, First; one of the not so active FreeWRLians has a directory on line: Thanks for the pointers. I notice that Debian includes a package called: spidermonkey-bin This is a standalone implementation of the mozilla java script engine, which I'm assuming is the source of the code in FreeWRL's JS directory. Is it possible for FreeWRL to have spidermonkey-bin as a dependency and to call it at run time, thus doing away with the need for a JS directory in FreeWRL? The simple answer is yes, absolutely. The complex answer? the build would have to be changed in 2 ways: - do not go into the JS directory; - link against libjs.so instead of libFreeWRLjs.so and it should work just fine. Probing further, spidermoney-bin is an executable wrapper around the libmozjs0d package. libmozjs0d is the embeddable JavaScript library. Debian also provides a package libmozjs-dev, which provides another copy of the JavaScript library, along with header files. libmozjs0d provides the file /usr/lib/libmozjs.so.0d libmozjs-dev provides header files in /usr/include/mozjs/* and the file /usr/lib/libmozjs.so I'm guessing the right package to install and link against is libmozjs-dev. I'm not an expert though, so someone might want to verify this. Yes, you are correct in pointing out that the JS source is dual licensed. Apologies for the false alarm. (The license MPL file for JS doesn't hve the dual licensing section filled in and I didn't check the file headers.) I've CC'd this to the relevant debian bug so it is on record that FreeWRL doesn't have a licensing problem. Regards John -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe. Bug#377468: djvulibre-plugin: undefined symbol XtShellStrings in nsdejavu.so
Thanks. My best guess on this right now is that the bug is an architecture-specific amd64 bug in seamonkey, with seamonkey providing a correct environment for plugins on i386 but not on amd64. Seamonkey isn't a Debian package, so I can't really reassign this bug, or (without more information from you, like full seamonkey version details etc) even reproduce it without a lot of guesswork. I'm therefore going to: - leave this bug open for now until I'm not just *guessing*, but actually sure about what the underlying problem is. - try to find someone who actually knows a lot about how mozilla plugins are supposed to work to discuss this with. You might want to bring the issue up with the seamonkey people; they may be in a better position to deal with it appropriately. Thanks again for the bug report, -- Barak A. Hi, some things: * I'm making a Debian package of gzrt (http://bugs.debian.org/378112) * gcc 4.1 produces some warnings, the attached patch fixes them * I've written a manual page for gzrecover (attached) * I've re-written the Makefile so it respects CFLAGS (attached) * Would it be possible for you to split the compile/install instructions out of the README, into README.build or something? * The copyright date in the source file needs updating, since the years are different to the ones in the README. * Your ChangeLog should probably be renamed to NEWS I place the patch, manual page and Makefile in the public domain, please integrate them and take copyright of them. -- bye, pabs http://wiki.debian.org/PaulWise --- gzrecover.c.orig 2005-11-13 07:07:59.0 +0800 +++ gzrecover.c 2006-07-13 20:49:46.0 +0800 @@ -25,6 +25,7 @@ #include errno.h #include fcntl.h #include unistd.h +#include string.h #include zlib.h /* Global contants */ @@ -50,16 +51,7 @@ exit(exit_status); } -/* Check system call error status */ -void -check_error(int badcode, int rc, const char* callname) -{ - if (rc == badcode) -{ - perror(callname); - exit(1); -} -} +#define throw_error(callname) perror(callname); exit(1); /* Read bytes from a file - restart on EINTR */ ssize_t @@ -86,9 +78,10 @@ /* Build the output file name */ if (outfile_specified) -check_error(0, outfile = (char *)malloc(strlen(user_outname) + 9), malloc); +outfile = (char *)malloc(strlen(user_outname) + 9); else -check_error(0, outfile = (char *)malloc(strlen(infile) + 25), malloc); +outfile = (char *)malloc(strlen(infile) + 25); + if( outfile == 0 ){ throw_error(malloc) } if (!outfile_specified) /* Strip of .gz unless user specified name */ { @@ -111,8 +104,8 @@ sprintf(outfile, %s.recovered, infile); /* Open it up */ - check_error(-1, ofd = open(outfile, O_RDWR | O_CREAT, S_IWUSR | S_IRUSR), - open); + ofd = open(outfile, O_RDWR | O_CREAT, S_IWUSR | S_IRUSR); + if( ofd == -1 ){ throw_error(open) } if (verbose_mode) fprintf(stdout, Opened output file for writing: %s\n, outfile); @@ -122,7 +115,7 @@ /* Initialize the zlib decompression engine */ void -init_zlib(z_stream *d_stream, char *buffer, size_t bufsize) +init_zlib(z_stream *d_stream, unsigned char *buffer, size_t bufsize) { int rc; @@ -189,7 +182,8 @@ int opt, rc, ifd, ofd, founderr=0, foundgood=0; ssize_t bytes_read=0; off_t errpos=0, errinc=0; - char *infile, *inbuf, *outbuf; + char *infile; + unsigned char *inbuf, *outbuf; z_stream d_stream; /* Parse options */ @@ -223,18 +217,22 @@ infile = argv[optind]; /* Open input file and memory map */ - check_error(0, inbuf = (char *)malloc(inbuf_size), malloc); - check_error(-1, ifd = open(infile, O_RDONLY), open); + inbuf = (unsigned char *)malloc(inbuf_size); + if( inbuf == 0 ){ throw_error(malloc) } + ifd = open(infile, O_RDONLY); + if( ifd == -1 ){ throw_error(open) } if (verbose_mode) fprintf(stdout, Opened input file for reading: %s\n, infile); /* Open output file initialize output buffer */ ofd = open_outfile(infile); - check_error(0, outbuf = (char *)malloc(outbuf_size), malloc); + outbuf = (unsigned char *)malloc(outbuf_size); + if( outbuf == 0 ){ throw_error(malloc) } /* Initialize zlib */ - check_error(-1, bytes_read = read_internal(ifd, inbuf, inbuf_size), read); + bytes_read = read_internal(ifd, inbuf, inbuf_size); + if( -1 == bytes_read ){ throw_error(read) } if (bytes_read == 0) { if (verbose_mode) @@ -270,8 +268,8 @@ if (d_stream.avail_in == 0) { - check_error(-1, bytes_read = read_internal(ifd, inbuf, - inbuf_size), read); + bytes_read = read_internal(ifd, inbuf, inbuf_size); + if( bytes_read == -1 ){ throw_error(read) } if (bytes_read == 0) break; @@ -283,7 +281,7 @@ if (verbose_mode) fprintf(stdout, Found error at byte %d in input stream\n, -errpos); +(int)errpos); } inflateEnd(d_stream); @@ -300,7 +298,7 @@ errinc = 0; if (verbose_mode) fprintf(stdout, Found good data at byte %d in input stream\n, -errpos + errinc); +(int)(errpos + errinc)); if (split_mode) { @@ -310,15 +308,14 @@ } /* Write decompressed output - should really handle short write counts */ - check_error(-1, write(ofd, outbuf, outbuf_size - d_stream.avail_out), - write); + if( -1 == write(ofd, outbuf, outbuf_size - d_stream.avail_out) ){ throw_error(write) } fsync(ofd); /* We've

Bug#377119: libsvn-javahl: package name violates Java policy
Hello all, In other words, if distributing the jar 'svn-javahl.jar', the package should be named 'libsvn-javahl-java'. Though I can't help but wondering about the value of the javahl part of the package name. I really doubt that this issue is release critical. I've looked through this file: http://release.debian.org/etch_rc_policy.txt and there's nothing in there that would qualify the package as unsuitable for release. While I can understand that it's good if the package names are all according to some specified scheme, I don't think that the wrong name makes the package in such a broken state that we should prevent it from being released. I therefore propose to lower the severity to important. It should still be fixed of course. Thijs signature.asc Description: This is a digitally signed message part

Bug#378122: moreutils: 'man vidir': are the numbers items?
Package: moreutils Version: 0.14 Severity: normal 'vidir' prefaces every file dir with a number. The man page doesn't mention the numbers or what they do: ...Delete *items* to remove them from the directory, or edit their names to rename them. For example, if the user deletes the filename, but not the number, 'vidir' gets confused and tries to rename the file to a blank and returns an error. So an item above means two things: 1) renaming: just the filename, not the number. 2) deletion: both the number and filename. Also 'vidir' can't handle a blank line -- it's not enough to remove the number and the filename, the linefeed has to be removed as well. That's either a bug or a feature. Suggested revision: ...Delete an entire line to remove a file from the directory, or edit just its name to rename it. I will forward it to this bug. -- System Information: Debian Release: testing/unstable APT prefers unstable APT policy: (500, 'unstable'), (500, 'testing'), (500, 'stable'), (1, 'experimental') Architecture: i386 (i686) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/bash Kernel: Linux 2.6.17-1-k7 Locale: [EMAIL PROTECTED], [EMAIL PROTECTED] (charmap=ISO-8859-15) Versions of packages gimp depends on: ii gimp-data 2.2.11-3.1 Data files for The GIMP ii libaa1 1.4p5-30 ascii art library ii libart-2.0-22.3.17-1 Library of functions for 2D graphi ii libatk1.0-0 1.11.4-3 The ATK accessibility toolkit ii libc6 2.3.6-15 GNU C Library: Shared libraries ii libcairo2 1.2.0-3 The Cairo 2D vector graphics libra ii libexif12 0.6.13-4 library to parse EXIF files ii libexpat1 1.95.8-3.2 XML parsing C library - runtime li ii libfontconfig1 2.3.2-7 generic font configuration library ii libfreetype62.2.1-2 FreeType 2 font engine, shared lib ii libgimp2.0 2.2.11-3.1 Libraries necessary to Run the GIM ii libglib2.0-02.10.3-3 The GLib library of C routines ii libgtk2.0-0 2.8.18-1 The GTK+ graphical user interface ii libice6 1:1.0.0-3X11 Inter-Client Exchange library ii libjpeg62 6b-13The Independent JPEG Group's JPEG ii liblcms11.15-1 Color management library ii libmng1 1.0.9-1 Multiple-image Network Graphics li ii libpango1.0-0 1.12.3-1 Layout and rendering of internatio ii libpng12-0 1.2.8rel-5.1 PNG library - runtime ii libsm6 1:1.0.0-4X11 Session Management library ii libtiff43.8.2-5 Tag Image File Format (TIFF) libra ii libwmf0.2-7 0.2.8.3-3.1 Windows metafile conversion librar ii libx11-62:1.0.0-7X11 client-side library ii libxcursor1 1.1.5.2-5X cursor management library ii libxext61:1.0.0-4X11 miscellaneous extension librar ii libxfixes3 1:3.0.1.2-4 X11 miscellaneous 'fixes' extensio ii libxi6 1:1.0.0-5X11 Input extension library ii libxinerama11:1.0.1-4X11 Xinerama extension library ii libxmu6 1:1.0.1-3X11 miscellaneous utility library ii libxpm4 1:3.5.4.2-3 X11 pixmap library ii libxrandr2 2:1.1.0.2-4 X11 RandR extension library ii libxrender1 1:0.9.0.2-4 X Rendering Extension client libra ii libxt6 1:1.0.0-5X11 toolkit intrinsics library ii wget1.10.2-2 retrieves files from the web ii zlib1g 1:1.2.3-13 compression library - runtime Versions of packages gimp recommends: ii gimp-print 4.3.99+cvs20060521-4 print plugin for the GIMP ii gimp-svg2.2.11-3.1 SVG (Scalable Vector Graphics) plu -- no debconf information -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe.
