Bug#360281: initramfs-tools: Fix for update-initramfs -k all -u|-c|-d and manpage
tags 360281 patch thanks Package: initramfs-tools Version: 0.75 Followup-For: Bug #360281 I saw few problems on update-initramfs command. http://bugs.debian.org/360281 http://bugs.debian.org/383600 The current update-initramfs impliment -k all only for -u option while help message of the command gives wrong impression. There is no mention of all in manpage. Manpage does not document current Debian default behavior for -k version. (I agree that update-initramfs does not to update for all kernels unless manually executed. I had issues with 0.74 but I could boot system with older untouched kernel. Conservative is good move.) So here is my suggestion for fix. I just moved all processing outside of update while ensuring all additional options will be processed properly and also added extra verbose line for the start of kernel version iteration to give better output. Now all iteration properly preserve all valid options :-) I hope this patch helps. (I actually did not test this for -d. Just tested for -c and -u. Also I tested -v option too.) (I kept FIXME line since this is part of moved lines.) Bug#383862: netapplet: netapplet leaks memory
Package: netapplet Version: 1.0.8-1 Severity: normal Gnome netapplet-1.0.8 constantly leaks memory. On my PowerPC-333, it leaks, on average, one kilobyte per second. When I have a wireless card plugged in, the increase in memory usage corresponds with stdout from netapplet such as the following: Got Bulldogs 0.306581 1 Got linksys 0.509220 0 Got NETGEAR 0.613162 1 Got linksys 0.485919 0 I believe that the unfreed mallocs may be occuring whenever the network is scanned. Note that netapplet still leaks memory even without a wireless card, it just doesn't say anything on stdout. It is very simple to reproduce this bug. Run netapplet and watch the RSS memory steadily increase without bound. Here's a little script to help you to do that: #!/bin/sh # watchleak: every second, print how much the netapplet process has grown PID=$(pgrep netapplet) ORIGINAL=$(( $(cut -f2 -d' ' /proc/$PID/statm) * 4)) sleep 1 while :; do SIZE=$(( $(cut -f2 -d' ' /proc/$PID/statm) * 4)) echo $(( SIZE - ORIGINAL )) kB sleep 1 done | cat -n -- System Information: Debian Release: testing/unstable APT prefers testing APT policy: (500, 'testing'), (200, 'unstable') Architecture: powerpc (ppc) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/bash Kernel: Linux 2.6.16-2-powerpc Locale: LANG=en_US.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=en_US.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Versions of packages netapplet depends on: ii libart-2.0-2 2.3.17-1 Library of functions for 2D graphi ii libatk1.0-01.12.1-1 The ATK accessibility toolkit ii libbonobo2-0 2.14.0-1 Bonobo CORBA interfaces library ii libbonoboui2-0 2.14.0-3 The Bonobo UI library ii libc6 2.3.6-15 GNU C Library: Shared libraries ii libgconf2-42.14.0-1 GNOME configuration database syste ii libglade2-01:2.5.1-2 library to load .glade files at ru ii libglib2.0-0 2.10.3-3 The GLib library of C routines ii libgnome-keyring0 0.4.9-1 GNOME keyring services library ii libgnome2-02.14.1-2 The GNOME 2 library - runtime file ii libgnomecanvas2-0 2.14.0-2 A powerful object-oriented display ii libgnomeui-0 2.14.1-2 The GNOME 2 libraries (User Interf ii libgnomevfs2-0 2.14.2-1 GNOME virtual file-system (runtime ii libgtk2.0-02.8.18-1 The GTK+ graphical user interface ii libice61:1.0.0-3 X11 Inter-Client Exchange library ii libiw2828-1 Wireless tools - library ii liborbit2 1:2.14.0-2libraries for ORBit2 - a CORBA ORB ii libpango1.0-0 1.12.3-1+b1 Layout and rendering of internatio ii libpopt0 1.10-2lib for parsing cmdline parameters ii libsm6 1:1.0.0-4 X11 Session Management library ii libx11-6 2:1.0.0-7 X11 client-side library ii libxml22.6.26.dfsg-3 GNOME XML library ii lsb-base 3.1-10Linux Standard Base 3.1 init scrip ii zlib1g 1:1.2.3-13compression library - runtime Versions of packages netapplet recommends: ii gnome-system-tools2.14.0-1.1 Cross-platform configuration utili -- no debconf information -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe. Bug#382830: Building Nvidia-kernel-legacy-modules.
Hi I am using the latest sid nvidia-legacy packages with kernel 2.6.16-2-686 and 2.6.16-2-486 in etch. I am not using module assistant, instead I built using Method #1 in /usr/share/doc/nvidia-kernel-legacy-source/README.Debian Possible that the module-assistant method is broken, it's also possible that the differences between 2.6.16-1-k7 and 2.6.16-2-686 are sufficent to break the package. Could you please test build the modules using Method #1 in /usr/share/doc/nvidia-kernel-legacy-source/README.Debian. If that fails, it might also be worth testing with the debian 2.6.16-2-k7 kernel to see if the differences between 2.6.16-1 and 2.6.16-2 are significant. Note due to a missing fix in x86 due to bug 383860 you may need run /sbin/update-modules. HTH Andrew V. -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe. Trouble? Bug#382590: debian-installer: sparc testing images missing 32-bit isofs
reassign 382590 linux-kernel-di-sparc-2.6 thanks On Sat, 19 Aug 2006, Frans Pop wrote: I would first like to see it confirmed as it seems like a very strange regression to me. Jurij will probably look into this this weekend. He's just back from his holidays. Indeed, the isofs kernel module is not included in any of the kernel udebs. In kernel-wedge it is included in ide-modules, and that's how it is normally pulled in. On sparc32 we are not building ide-modules udeb, so isofs is not available. I plan to include it explicitly in cdrom-core-modules udeb in the next l-k-di-sparc-2.6 upload. Bug#383555: udev/initramfs-tools/...
I also suffered this boot problem. Thanks to (not so well documented) feature in update-initramfs, postinst of udev only updates the latest kernel. Thus I was able to boot with older kernel. The latest initramfs-tools seems to solved the issue for booting and starting with latest udev. If anyone is reruning to create initramfs, please do following: (I am assuming few kernels to be there.) 1. Boot with older kernel (like 2.6.16 ones) 2. Install latest unstable versions of packages initramfs-tools 0.75 tools for generating an initramfs 3. run update-initramfs -u to get the latest kernel initramfs updated. 4. Reboot to confirm the latest kernel works. 5. If there is other kernel which suffered the same issue, run update-initramfs -k all -u and hope all kernels to work fine. This manual update is needed since udev.postinst has only update-initramfs -u which only works on the latest kernel version. Appears to be related with xulrunner transition. So maybe you have an idea what the reason might be. I didn't try to reproduce the bug and see the backtrace to verify my assumptions, but I think it is the same bug as #376323, which I wanted to fix in next upload of xulrunner at the time I wrote to the bug but with the security update of 1.8.0.5, I forgot to apply the patches from the BTS. It will be fixed in 1.8.0.5-2 anyway. I'm just waiting for 1.8.0.5-1 to migrate to testing. I'll take a look at kazehakase to see if it's the same bug. M, sadly, i can't even reproduce the bug. Is the password manager enabled by default ? I see kazehakase has indeed a user profile for the underlying gecko, which means it may not be #376323, but i'd like to at least be able to reproduce the bug... Gerfried, could you provide detailed steps to be able to reproduce for a non kazehakase user (meaning with no $HOME/.kazehakase) in the first place ? Alternatively, it would be nice to have a full backtrace after segfault (preferably install libxul0d-dbg before getting the backtrace). Maybe an strace would be helpful, too. Bug#292786: gscjk_ac.ps: GS vs. CJK
reassign 292786 gs-cjk-resource thanks gs-esp of Sarge has some example files for CJK. (although newer gs-esp doesn't include them) gscjk_ac.ps uses MSung-Light, MSung-Medium, MHei-Medium and MKai-Medium for Chinese fonts. gscjk_ag.ps uses STSong-Light, STFangsong-Light, STHeiti-Regular, and STKaiti-Regular. gscjk_ak.ps uses HYSMyeongJo-Medium, HYGoThic-Medium and HYRGThic-Medium. I'm not interested in investigating the issue of building the documentation under arm because: - upstream have made local changes to the gtk-doc infrastructure after the bootstrapping instead of fixing gtk-doc to suite their needs, I'm not interested in chasing bugs they might have introduced under arm in this process - the doc is arch: all, so it would only matter for people preparing uploads under arm - the doc is painfully slow to build anyway, so it makes sense to not build it under arm, even if it would work - I'm not even sure the HTML files are not a form of modification convenient enough for us; the doc build system has caused too much headache in the past (an infinite loop in jade comes to mind) Bye, -- Loïc Minier [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Bug#383870: fetchmail: Fetchmail duplicates my SPAM every 10 minutes - ARGH!
Package: fetchmail Version: 6.3.4-4 Severity: grave Justification: renders package unusable I have been using fetchmail for many years - it runs every 10 minutes fetching from a few accounts. The mail is then fed into a local exim, because I used to have several users on this machine. Yesterday, I discovered a hundred-doubling of my spam folder, which was surprising. Spam tend to increase, but not so abruptly. Looking at the spam, the same messages repeated over and over. Completely identical headers, even the message id. At first I thought someone had made new spam software with some sort of fault in it, but the same messages kept coming back after I deleted them. Then I had a look at what fetchmail was doing: fetchmail -c showed 893 messages waiting for me at the ISP. Fetchmail started collecting and delivering, then one of the messages got an error response because of a malformed address with spaces in it. Example: reading message [EMAIL PROTECTED]:76 of 893 (1523 octets) ..fetchmail: SMTP error: 501 Denver [EMAIL PROTECTED]: @ or . expected after Denver There were many of these in addition to normal mail/spam, and after a while I got: reading message [EMAIL PROTECTED]:115 of 893 (1672 octets) fetchmail: SMTP error: 501 Too many syntax or protocol errors .. flushed reading message [EMAIL PROTECTED]:116 of 893 (1800 octets) ..fetchmail: SIGPIPE thrown from an MDA or a stream socket error fetchmail: socket error while fetching from [EMAIL PROTECTED] fetchmail: Query status=2 (SOCKET) Fetchmail gave up. Fine, I tried a fetchmail -c and noticed - still 893 messages left! But I now have many of them in my spambox. Every 10 minutes, fetchmail get me 115 copies of the _same_ spam, then gives up. Now, I understand that fetchmail don't want to destroy the faulty messages - there could be something important. But it _really_ should remove from the server all those messages that were delivered successfully! I should not get the same (successful) spam messages delivered over and over and over! I have never seen anything like this before, and it is very annoying. Now, I can set up a client to access that ISP account directly, and delete messages on the server. But that won't help, for surely I will get more spam with spaces in the TO: field that will trip up fetchmail again and again. Is there a solution for this, or will there be one soon? I'll try other versions of fetchmail available from debian, of course. As it is - fetchmail is unuseable because it both fail to fetch 90% of my mail, _and_ it fills up the disk slowly threatening the system with a full disk. Incoming mail service is denied. Feel free to yell if I am running fetchmail in a stupid way - there isn't much thought in this setup, but it worked flawlessly for many years now. -- System Information: Debian Release: testing/unstable APT prefers testing APT policy: (900, 'testing'), (800, 'unstable'), (700, 'experimental') Architecture: amd64 (x86_64) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/bash Kernel: Linux 2.6.18-rc4-mm1 Locale: LANG=nb_NO.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=nb_NO.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Versions of packages fetchmail depends on: ii adduser 3.96 Add and remove users and groups ii debianutils 2.17 Miscellaneous utilities specific t ii gettext 0.14.6-1 GNU Internationalization utilities ii libc6 2.3.6-15 GNU C Library: Shared libraries ii libssl0.9.8 0.9.8b-2 SSL shared libraries Versions of packages fetchmail recommends: ii ca-certificates 20050804 Common CA Certificates PEM files -- debconf-show failed -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe. Bug#383863: texmacs: parsing errors when inserting an octave session
Kamaraju Kusumanchi [EMAIL PROTECTED] writes: retitle 383863 texmacs: write Octave plugin to Octave = 2.9 retitle 383863 wishlist thanks Hello, The exact errors can be found in the file attached below. The commands to reproduce the errors are I see from that file that you were trying to use Octave 2.9, which is the development version of Octave and is affected by constant interface changes and has changed interfaces from Octave 2.1 already. TeXmacs' Octave plugin doesn't support the upcoming Octave 3.0 yet, not even in the latest CVS version of TeXmacs. While making the plugin _load_ with Octave 2.9 is quite easy (see attached patch), several functionalities of the plugin will fail, as the plugin contains copies of many plotting functions of older Octave versions, that were modified to interface with texmacs. However, these functions have changed their implementation (and also interfaces) significantly. Merging their and TeXmacs' changes in a way that they keep their desired behavior and work with both Octave 2.1 and 2.9 seems to be an extensive task and almost looks like rewriting many of its parts. please fix this bug Please go for a stable Octave release, if you want to use the TeXmacs plugin. Even Octave 2.1 (their testing branch) is problematic at times as the plugin was written for the stable release (2.0). Unfortunately, the stable Octave release is not contained in Debian. Bug#383872: gnome-power-manager should provide option to enter commands / scripts to run before / after suspend or hibernate
Package: gnome-power-manager Version: 2.14.3-2 Severity: wishlist Hello, I find it would be useful to have an option where you can enter commands which must be run before entering suspend (or hibernate) mode event(s) and after exiting suspend (or hibernate) mode event(s). This option might be provided via User Interface (in preferences), gconf entry or text configuration file. For example, it's necessary for me to stop the linuxant modem driver (invoke-rc.d hsf stop) before entering ACPI suspend / hibernate, otherwise the systems hangs (there is a known issue with that driver). That's not a problem when you do it manually, but it's indeed a big one when suspend mode gets invoked automatically after an inactivity timeout has expired. Bug#383873: xserver-xorg-core: No dependency with xserver-xorg-video-all
Package: xserver-xorg-coreVersion: 1:1.1.1-1Severity: importantHello X Strike Force,Just 10 minutes ago, I did an# apt-get update# apt-get -t experimental install xserver-xorg-coreto try out AIGLX. After that operation succeeded without requiering any additional package, I try# /etc/init.d/gdm restartthat fails, hence, drops me at tty1. From the Xorg log I quickly realized that I also needed to upgrade to a newer version of xserver-xorg-video-ati in addition. This solved the problem, and now AIGLX works with an ATI rv350.Apparently xserver-xorg-core has a dependency with xserver-xorg-video that is a virtual package. I guess the requirement was met at the time I installed xserver-xorg-core. It look like the package xserver-xorg-core should get a dependency with a recent xserver-xorg-video-all. I don't really know if it's a __bug__ actually or more a work in progress, but since it broked my system in some way, I felt like reporting. I hope this will help you.Sylvain.P.S. In case you need to argue, the mkfs.ext* tools and mkfs.reisferfs tools invalidate the start and the end (md raid) of the volume too, to overwrite old signatures after having the same problems. You can just use dd and clean the volume before reformatting it. Right--I've done that to the partition, and now I have no problem. Yeah, but it's bad, that we need to do this after that issue is known for more than a year now. Thanks, Kay on the same line it would be cool if mkswap checked what it is doing. as currently it doesn't do much: you can easily recover any mkswaped partition. regards -- maks -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe. Bug#383373: [Pkg-bluetooth-maintainers] Bug#383373: hcid: package upgrade loses keyboard

Part of that upgrade wanted to replace bluez-utils. It stopped hcid, among other things, leaving me with no keyboard left to answer the questions about config files. I had to find a USB keyboard to finish the process until it started up again. interesting, can you confirm that after /etc/init.d/bluetooth stop you can't use your keyboard anymore? I guess this is related to #355497. I'm more and more inclined to remove stop_hid from init script to avoid this problems since we can't know in advance which keyboard works and which doesn't (you can't even ask the user is your keyboard working? This is clearly wrong if you wanted interactive pin entry: - bluez-pin already used d-bus, maybe only needs an update - kdebluetooth' pin app doesn't work anymore see previous discussions about not providing an interactive pin helper by default in bluez-utils. The idea is to have bluetooth not requiring any interactive help and bluetooth-desktop (being it a task or metapackage) with all the goodies. Is there any working replacement for an X desktop? Or did you just introduce a bluetooth version that is unusable for X users? (Hint: Yes, you did.) right now there isn't a replacement, you are free to provide a patch though. note also that bluez-pin is removed from testing. So I define the goal of this bug, either: - provide a workable interactive pin entry program for X, or - clearly tell by Recommends which package can handle that And no, passkey-agent is no acceptable solution for X users, at least according to manpage (and it's also missing, see other bug report). indeed, it isn't mean as such. filippo -- Filippo Giunchedi - http://esaurito.net PGP key: 0x6B79D401 random quote follows: I worked myself up from nothing to a state of extreme poverty. -- Groucho Marx signature.asc Description: Digital signature

That would mean that the bluez guys acutally documented those dbus messages (did they? If yes, where?). And that the dbus documentation gets to a usuable state (just naming the functions is not a documentation). The situation is actually sad: bluetooth on the desktop was working fine and nice and it all broke close to release (with no obvious gain). I propose a solution: Provide a wrapper that can call old pinhelpers and listens to dbus, like bluez-pinhelper-wrap /usr/lib/kdebluetooth/kbluepin That would at least bring the previous situation back and provide backward compatibility of some kind (the user would have to start the above command). If that was you intention with passkey-agent: there is no documenation on how to actually use it (what is the agent-path? even looking at the source code, I do not get what it shall do). I will file a bug report against kdebluetooth, too. HS -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe. Trouble? Contact [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Bug#363442: libc6-xen should not conflict with any other libc6-$flavor

Is the part about performance regression actually true? I've spent quite a bit of time trying to find a test case where the difference could be measureable, and failed. I think Gabor meant the regression you get when running with a non-xen libc under xen (compared to xen-libc under xen). I'm not knowledgeable about TLS issues, but it appears that the slowdown is on the rate on one CPU cycle per some glibc calls -- way below any reasonable threshold, and certainly not enough to warrant the extra disk space and confusion. So, what about dropping libc6-xen and simply rebuilding libc6-i686 with -mno-tls-direct-seg-refs? While you seem to be referring to the regression you get when running with a xen-libc on non-xen kernel (bare metal), compared to regular libc (with negative segment trick) on non-xen kernel. The problem with merging libc-xen and libc-686 is that it brings a performance penalty (though tiny) to people who don't care about Xen at all. Package: fwbuilder Version: 2.0.9 The init script supplied with this package (/usr/share/doc/fwbuilder-common/examples/fwbuilder.init.d) cannot start the firewall. This happens because at line 14 it assumes: SCRIPT=$SCRIPT_DIR/$(hostname -s).fw and this yields two problems. Problem 1: on my machine, `hostname -s` returns 'localhost' instead of 'example_name'. Problem 2: this version of fwbuilder calls it's compiled firewalls 'example_name Firewall.fw', not 'example_name.fw' After fixing both problems, the firewall can be started. However detecting the first one takes some minutes for advanced users, hours for beginners, and forever for most people :). I stand corrected, there's an updated pin helper in bluez cvs, it is for gnome using dbus bindings and glib. I'll look into it. http://bluez.cvs.sourceforge.net/bluez/gnome/ I propose a solution: Provide a wrapper that can call old pinhelpers and listens to dbus, like bluez-pinhelper-wrap /usr/lib/kdebluetooth/kbluepin That would at least bring the previous situation back and provide backward compatibility of some kind (the user would have to start the above command). If that was you intention with passkey-agent: there is no documenation on how to actually use it (what is the agent-path? even looking at the source code, I do not get what it shall do). the point of add-passkey/register-passkeys is to provide basic functionality without requiring X. Bug#383884: w3m: [console + gpm] Mouse only works when prompt is active
Package: w3m Version: 0.5.1-5 Severity: normal On the linux VGA 80x25 textmode console (no graphical framebuffer), the mouse only works as expected when a prompt is active. Details: * Start w3m -config /dev/null www.debian.org (just as example) There is no mouse cursor visible, and w3m doesn't react to any mouse movement or clicking. When holding down a modifier key (shift, alt, ctrl, ...), the mouse cursor is visible, and the mouse is in the normal copy-and-paste mode, which would be the default behavior on the console. * Hit 'U' to enter a URL or '#' to read a shell command or probably just any other command that makes w3m prompt. Now the mouse works as expected; you can scroll around and double-click links. Note that if you tried to scroll and double-click links before a prompt was active, all these actions are processed belatedly as soon as a prompt appears. * Hitting Ctrl-G to close the prompt makes the mouse seemingly unavailable again. This only happens on the console with gpm; in an xterm, everything works fine. The behavior is not related to the visited site. As (at least at a first glance), gpm seems to work with e.g. jed, I presume that this bug belongs to w3m (or maybe ncurses, since jed uses only libslang). -- System Information: Debian Release: testing/unstable APT prefers testing APT policy: (500, 'testing') Architecture: i386 (i686) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/bash Kernel: Linux 2.6.16-2-686 Locale: LANG=en_US, [EMAIL PROTECTED] (charmap=ISO-8859-15) Versions of packages w3m depends on: ii libc6 2.3.6-15 GNU C Library: Shared libraries ii libgc1c2 1:6.7-2conservative garbage collector for ii libgpmg1 1.19.6-22 General Purpose Mouse - shared lib ii libncurses5 5.5-2 Shared libraries for terminal hand ii libssl0.9.8 0.9.8b-2 SSL shared libraries ii zlib1g1:1.2.3-13 compression library - runtime Versions of packages w3m recommends: ii ca-certificates 20050804 Common CA Certificates PEM files -- no debconf information -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe. Either that or it needs to be suid root to do the authentication... but surely it would need that to read /etc/shadow on a non-LDAP'ed system too. -- System Information: Debian Release: testing/unstable APT prefers testing APT policy: (500, 'testing'), (100, 'unstable') Architecture: i386 (i686) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/bash Kernel: Linux 2.6.16-2-k7 Locale: LANG=en_AU.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=en_AU.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Versions of packages gnome-screensaver depends on: ii dbus 0.62-4simple interprocess messaging syst ii gconf2 2.14.0-4 GNOME configuration database syste ii libart-2.0-2 2.3.17-1 Library of functions for 2D graphi ii libatk1.0-01.12.1-1 The ATK accessibility toolkit ii libaudiofile0 0.2.6-6 Open-source version of SGI's audio ii libavahi-client3 0.6.12-1 Avahi client library ii libavahi-common3 0.6.12-1 Avahi common library ii libavahi-glib1 0.6.12-1 Avahi glib integration library ii libbonobo2-0 2.14.0-1 Bonobo CORBA interfaces library ii libbonoboui2-0 2.14.0-3 The Bonobo UI library ii libc6 2.3.6-15 GNU C Library: Shared libraries ii libcairo2 1.2.2-1 The Cairo 2D vector graphics libra ii libdbus-1-20.62-4simple interprocess messaging syst ii libdbus-glib-1-2 0.62-4simple interprocess messaging syst ii libesd-alsa0 [libesd0] 0.2.36-3 Enlightened Sound Daemon (ALSA) - ii libexif12 0.6.13-4 library to parse EXIF files ii libfontconfig1 2.3.2-7 generic font configuration library ii libfreetype6 2.2.1-2 FreeType 2 font engine, shared lib ii libgconf2-42.14.0-4 GNOME configuration database syste ii libgcrypt111.2.2-3 LGPL Crypto library - runtime libr ii libglade2-01:2.5.1-2 library to load .glade files at ru ii libglib2.0-0 2.10.3-3 The GLib library of C routines ii libgnome-keyring0 0.4.9-1 GNOME keyring services library ii libgnome-menu2 2.14.3-1 an implementation of the freedeskt ii libgnome2-02.14.1-2 The GNOME 2 library - runtime file ii libgnomecanvas2-0 2.14.0-2 A powerful object-oriented display ii libgnomeui-0 2.14.1-2 The GNOME 2 libraries (User Interf ii libgnomevfs2-0 2.14.2-1 GNOME virtual file-system (runtime ii libgnutls131.4.2-1 the GNU TLS library - runtime libr ii libgpg-error0 1.2-1 library for common error values an ii libgtk2.0-02.8.18-1 The GTK+ graphical user interface ii libice61:1.0.0-3 X11 Inter-Client Exchange library ii libjpeg62 6b-13 The Independent JPEG Group's JPEG ii liborbit2 1:2.14.0-2libraries for ORBit2 - a CORBA ORB ii libpam0g 0.79-3.1 Pluggable Authentication Modules l ii libpango1.0-0 1.12.3-1+b1 Layout and rendering of internatio ii libpng12-0 1.2.8rel-5.2 PNG library - runtime ii libpopt0 1.10-2lib for parsing cmdline parameters ii libsm6 1:1.0.0-4 X11 Session Management library ii libtasn1-3 0.3.5-2 Manage ASN.1 structures (runtime) ii libx11-6 2:1.0.0-8 X11 client-side library ii libxau61:1.0.0-3 X11 authorisation library ii libxcursor11.1.5.2-5 X cursor management library ii libxext6

Bug#352610: Please create a udeb for ntpdate
* Frans Pop [EMAIL PROTECTED] [2006-08-19 16:47]: Seems this could be worked around easily by just retrying a few times if that error is returned (until it is fixed). Yes. Is there a time-out when it really cannot connect to a server? Yes, that seems to work. Installations are rare enough that just using a fixed address also seems an option. You could even add one or two alternates in case the first is down for some reason. We should definitely use a .debian.org alias which we can change. Linksys (or someone) got really bad PR when they hard-coded the value and used a server they shouldn't have used. We mainly need to determine how we are going to use rdate: - for all installations; - only for some (sub)arches like nlsu; - only if difference between system date/time and rdate date/time is greater than x. I don't know if we can do the latter in the current form or the program. However, given that the program is quite small it should be trivial to adapt it to our needs, as Rick Thomas suggested. -- Martin Michlmayr http://www.cyrius.com/ -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe. Bug#383890: w3m: [Colors] For fg=black, bg=white, some text is invisible
Package: w3m Version: 0.5.1-5 Severity: normal On the Linux VGA 80x25 textmode console (no graphical framebuffer), some texts are invisble, if w3m is configured with a white background (and at least a black foreground) color. Details: * Start w3m -config /dev/null http://www.debian.org/; (just as example) * Open a new tab with 'T'; by default, it clones the original tab. Both tabs should have the title of the web page as label, namely Debian - The Universal Operating System. Both titles are displayed lightgray on black (default colors of the Linux console), with the label of the active tab surrounded by a pair of white []. * Press 'o' to enter the options screen, and set Color of normal character from terminal to black, as well as Color of background from terminal to white. Then hit the [OK] button. * Now the Debian web page is displayed black on lightgray. But alas, this has rendered the label on the active tab invisible; the active tab is indicated by a darkgray pair of [], but has no label on it -- or perhaps a label colored lightgray on lightgray. * Move the cursor to the News section. As soon as the cursor is over Latest News or one of the following news headlines (all in brightblue), the appropriate text is invisible, save the character under the cursor. This happens only on the standard Linux white-on-black console. In an xterm, everything works fine; the active tab label is darkgray on lightgray, and the news links don't change colors, but become underlined when the cursor is over them. I'd suggest two more options for the tab labels: - Color of the active tab - Color of inactive tabs where both colors should be used for both tab *label* and the brackets around them -- the current behavior sets only the color of the brackets, which makes the active tab hard to see in the tab bar. For the invisible links I don't know a solution, they become invisible with the cursor over them, although Enable coloring of active link is disabled. Maybe w3m interprets CSS? Sidenote: I just notice that Enable coloring of active link doesn't have any effect at all, I'll file a separate bug report for that. -- System Information: Debian Release: testing/unstable APT prefers testing APT policy: (500, 'testing') Architecture: i386 (i686) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/bash Kernel: Linux 2.6.16-2-686 Locale: LANG=en_US, [EMAIL PROTECTED] (charmap=ISO-8859-15) Versions of packages w3m depends on: ii libc6 2.3.6-15 GNU C Library: Shared libraries ii libgc1c2 1:6.7-2conservative garbage collector for ii libgpmg1 1.19.6-22 General Purpose Mouse - shared lib ii libncurses5 5.5-2 Shared libraries for terminal hand ii libssl0.9.8 0.9.8b-2 SSL shared libraries ii zlib1g1:1.2.3-13 compression library - runtime Versions of packages w3m recommends: ii ca-certificates 20050804 Common CA Certificates PEM files -- no debconf information -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe. Bug#355764: dvd+rw-tools: DVD-R burning issue with growisofs
Package: dvd+rw-tools Version: 6.1-3 Followup-For: Bug #355764,#325741 http://bugs.debian.org/355764 http://bugs.debian.org/325741 If this is kernel bug, let's move this to there. (Andy, if you just reply, then bug report on dvd+rw-tools will be moved by us) Since we use 2.6 kernel's capability to write to IDE DVD, this may be issue there. This machine used to write DVD without problem. Old DVDs written on this machine can be read without problem now. It has been a while (1yr?) since I burn DVD on this PC. I suffer this DVD-R burning issue now. I initally experienced this under gnome nautilus-cdburner but the problem happens even when I issued this $ growisofs -dvd-compat -Z /dev/hdc -J -R PHOTO So I am reporting this under this bug. Under nautilus, sometimes it did not burn any data (color of DVD did not change and no data was written. So this may be due to bug reported in #325741) But with this direct command, I did burn CD (color changed) but I can not mound created DVD. This is really annoying. The media info seems to indicate DVD written recently seems to be different from what used to be. Here we go, ... dvd+rw-mediainfo /dev/hdc for recently burned bad dvd indicates: INQUIRY:[TOSHIBA ][DVD-ROM SD-R6012][1S34] GET [CURRENT] CONFIGURATION: Mounted Media: 10h, DVD-ROM Media ID: ProdiscF01 GET [CURRENT] PERFORMANCE: Write Performance: 1.0x1385=1350KB/[EMAIL PROTECTED] - 0] Speed Descriptor#0:00/2298495 [EMAIL PROTECTED]/s [EMAIL PROTECTED]/s READ DVD STRUCTURE[#0h]: Media Book Type: 25h, DVD-R book [revision 5] Legacy lead-out at:0*2KB=0 READ DISC INFORMATION: Disc status: appendable Number of Sessions:1 State of Last Session: empty Next Track: 1 Number of Tracks: 1 READ TRACK INFORMATION[#1]: Track State: invisible incremental Track Start Address: 0*2KB Next Writable Address: 0*2KB Free Blocks: 2297888*2KB Track Size:2297888*2KB FABRICATED TOC: Track#1 : [EMAIL PROTECTED] Track#AA : [EMAIL PROTECTED] Multi-session Info:[EMAIL PROTECTED] READ CAPACITY: 0*2048=0 Free Blocks and Track Size seems huge.
