Bug#396017: not reasonable win32 codecs path

2006-10-31 Thread Petter Reinholdtsen

Please include /usr/local/lib/win32 in the default win32 codec path.
This is the location of the win32 codeces I use at the moment with vlc
and an unofficial build of mplayer.

Bug#394775: Sparc64 install fails: 'sbcl.sh install-clc' segfaults

2006-10-31 Thread Peter Van Eynde
Hello,

Let me first thank you for the bugreport, it is pretty clean and complete.

On Monday 23 October 2006 01:51, J.P. Larocque wrote:

Previous frame identical to this frame (corrupt stack?)

This means that it is getting a segmentation fault and thinks that it hit
a 'guard page'. That page is placed just before you would overrun the control
stack and if something writes to it you get a sigsegv. The
handle_control_stack_guard_triggered function should then print a warning and
offer the posibility to continue.

It seems unlikely that the sigsegv comes from the control stack. I fear that
it just gets the sigsegv because it is trying to use a memory region it
cannot use.

Program received signal SIGSEGV, Segmentation fault.

This looks like a 'normal' sigsegv (we also use it to control memory
allocation).

Please let me know if I can be of any help.

Thankfully you didn't as this obviously doesn't happen on all systems,
mine first.

Yeah, I thought so, otherwise it would have been seen before.

So, the question is: what is so special on *your* system that it
happens there.

Nothing that I know or can think of. It is a relatively large Dell
server, with a pure testing install with no backport (except for the
ones I picked from unstable and which were close to entering testing
anyway) or local packages installed.

I'll keep looking (strace, etc), but I reported the bug in case someone
had seen this before with some configuration...

Thanks,

Bug#396226: [Pkg-samba-maint] Bug#396226: samba: Messes up file permissions when POSIX ACLs are

2006-10-31 Thread Christian Perrier

 Package: samba
 Version: 3.0.23c-1
 Severity: grave
 Justification: renders package unusable

For you probably but up to now, we hadn't much reports that it is for
other users

We are running Samba 3.0.23c on Debian.

Over the weekend, we updated out file server to Debian's kernel 2.6.18.
We had previously never run a kernel with ACL support enabled. Since
the upgrade, we are seeing very strange permission behavior. It appears
to berelated to POSIX ACL support in Samba.

It seems that what's happening is this.

We have a number of files that are user/group writable (permissions 0664).
When a user that is someone other than the Unix owner of the file writes
to it, the permissions switch to 0474 (-r--rwxr--) and an ACL is added
with this second user getting read/write permission to it.

Unfortunately, the Unix owner of the file now is locked out of writing
 to it.

We never had any problem with permissions on these files before using
 the ACL-enabled kernel.

Well, first of all, the smb.conf would help a lot, here

*** Please type your report below this line ***

Hi

Im using amsthm for creating theorems etc. Now one can give a Name to
a theorem in []-Brackets (see example). If I compile it on a sarge
system with older amsthm.sty then it was created right (with the name
also in boldface). If I crate it hiere with amsthm.sty with Version
2004/08/06 then the Theoremname wasn't show anymore in bold.

The line following line in amsthm.sty is causing this new behavior?
[EMAIL PROTECTED]

Is it possible as wish, to revert this to the old behavior?

I have attached, a minimal example (hoping it can be understand as
such), and two ps-Files: one gereated on a unstable-System
(simple_example.ps) and one on a sarge system (simple_example_old.ps).

About this Problem or wish, i have found this:

If you report an error when running one of the TeX-related binaries

other files that are needed, e.g. bibtex databases. Often it also helps
to include the logfile. Please, never send included pictures!

If your example file isn't short or produces more than one page of

you can probably minimize it further. Instructions on how to do that

Here it comes

 Well, CJKutf8.sty immediately loads CJK.sty... I really can't see a
reason why the above example fails with CJK.sty. Are you sure that
the file doesn't start with the `byte order mark' (BOM, U+FEFF), which
some editors insert even for UTF-8 encoding? This is the byte
sequence 0xEF 0xBB 0xBF. This must always be removed.

Hm, I copied to code from one Emacs buffer where I read mail to the
other, and saved it. My version of cat is completely UTF-unaware, but
in this case it displays the file without problems:

~$ cat sid/cjkutf.tex

*** Please type your report below this line ***

 Hi

Im using amsthm for creating theorems etc. Now one can give a Name to
a theorem in []-Brackets (see example). If I compile it on a sarge
system with older amsthm.sty then it was created right (with the name
also in boldface). If I crate it hiere with amsthm.sty with Version
2004/08/06 then the Theoremname wasn't show anymore in bold.

We could contact upstream about this. But first, please check whether
the description about \theoremstyle and, in particular, \newtheoremstyle
in amsthdoc.pdf might be enough to solve your problem.

Thanks for your report; the problem is digikam tries to access some

(as they should).

Unfortunately I didn't have the time to look into this issue properly.

Bug#396331: upgrade-reports: sarge to etch removes kernels

2006-10-31 Thread Ryan Finnie
Package: upgrade-reports
Severity: important

Upgrade went well, except for one rather big problem. If I do a
straight aptitude -f dist-upgrade, it removes kernel-image-* (IE,
kernel-image-2.6.8-3-686; I didn't try a 2.4 installation-upgrade).
Now, I understand why older kernels must be removed for etch (udev,
etc), but this is probably a problem for the average user. For the
release notes, I would recommend the following procedure:

1. Edit sources.list
2. apt-get update
3. aptitude -f install linux-image-2.6-[arch]
4. dpkg --purge hotplug
5. reboot
6. aptitude -f dist-upgrade

Installing the new kernel first means the old kernels will be removed,
udev will be installed, only a few necessary packages are upgraded
(libc6, etc), and a new, hopefully working kernel is installed in its
place. The user can then reboot and verify the new kernel works before
completely upgrading to etch. Of course, if the new kernel DOESN'T
work, the user doesn't have anything to fall back on, but at least he
knows early on.

Since the /etc/hosts file is missing, so any reference to localhost in
impossible to resolv. This is really important when the database server is
in the same host, cause it could be reference as localhost.

Copy the /etc/hosts file could be dangerous cause it could show other hosts
in the network. It could be okay to create a new hosts file just with
the localhost entry.

Bug#392823: ITP: prayer -- fast IMAP-based web mail system with few dependencies

2006-10-31 Thread Magnus Holmgren
retitle 392823 ITP: prayer -- fast IMAP-based web mail system with few
dependencies
owner 392823 Magnus Holmgren [EMAIL PROTECTED]
thanks

I've sent some questions and comments upstream. Most notably,

 * Prayer assumes that folders can't contain other folders, even if
the IMAP server supports it. It appears that Dovecot with Maildir
doesn't work very well with Prayer - all folders are treated as
directories. Directories are containers for folders and other
directories, but can't contain any mail. I don't know if this is
an unavoidable problem with libc-client, or just a design mistake
in Prayer. Anyway Prayer probably works best with UW-imapd.

 * Currently, there is no IPv6 support. However, prayer-session uses
libc-client to connect to the IMAP server, and IPv6 support can be
acheived there by building with the version of libc-client currently
   in experimental.

 * The modified UTF-7 encoding isn't supported, which means that non-
ASCII characters in folder names won't work.

I hacked Prayer to work with Dovecot in a saner fashion; see:

Bug#396128: More missing libraries

2006-10-31 Thread Ghe Rivero

Running an script looking for all dependencies on the shared libraries
shows that /usr/lib/i686/cmov/libcrypto.so.0.9.7 is missing.
/usr/lib/libssl.so.0.9.7 need it.
I think there are no more missing dependencies.

Thanks for the report. Once I get a CVE identifier allocated I'll
 handle an update for Sarge.

Daniel if you have a preferred patch that would be appreciated,
otherwise I'll come up with a solution and add it to this bug.

apt-get can not find them in 'deb http://ftp.debian.org/debian/ etch main'
Only kernel headers with 2.6.18-3 version can be found.

sure they are still in unstable, but will just install fine in testing.
just add unstable for them on your sources and remove them afterwards.

I'm installing it right now, although package is called 2.6.18-1, but
actual version is 2.6.18-3, so if it was based on 2.6.18.2+ then bug
should be fixed. I will add more details if this situation appeares
again, since I can not say that it is easily reproducible.

P.S. I removed [EMAIL PROTECTED] e-mail from Cc, since I
received bounce about unexistent domain bug.debian.org and MX record
absence for it.

Bug#196363: partial docu patch

2006-10-31 Thread Tomas Pospisek
#171244 contains a patch which documents dhclient's -lf
and -pf switches.

On a releated note - Sam Eloy:

do you still maintain this? Maybe orphaning the package would send a
clear message to the user base, Eloy? Or adding a big fat severity
important bug to the package saying - people this package is obsolete,
please migrate to dhcp3? Or providing an empty package that depends
on dhcp3-client for migration? Anyway, I do like dhclient, it's nice and
small and easy to use, I guess Sam liked it for the same reasons too...

Well, I hope you'll use the patch to make dhclient better documented...
And thanks for the maintenance anyway!!!

Ah, sorry. Second configuration should read

deb http://debian.nsu.ru/debian/ testing main contrib non-free
deb http://debian.nsu.ru/debian/ unstable main contrib non-free

The problem might have been, that in the etch directory of the server
the Release file was missing or corrupt. Only with a correct Release
file apt-show-versions can decide in which release a package version is.

Can you still reproduce the problem (after apt-get update of course)?

 Hi,

I also get this problem with the latest version of gnome-power-manager
in unstable (2.14.3-3+b1). xscreensaver on its own manages to shut the
 monitor down as usual.

Hello,

i guess you have to use gnome-screensaver, i'm not sure if g-p-m can
handle xscreensaver, i have to check :)

Yes, the previous cjk-latex packages work fine. And not only I can not use
latex but also many people can not use it after the latex-cjk-common
 installed.

Ai! I didn't notice anything in the Debian GB mailing list though.

them of reporting the bugs they encounter.

The sample file is as below.

Hmm, curious. I get the same problem when I compile
arphic-sampler.tex (with the 20060930 CVS tree), which uses {CJK*}
instead of {CJKutf8}. I'm sure it worked before.

I've tried other example files, and it seems that this bug is only
reproducible when \usepackage{CJK} is used along with
\begin{CJK}{UTF8}{}. Encodings other than UTF-8 are unaffected and
the package CJKutf8 isn't either.

I will try to get the latest CVS snapshot working tomorrow, and see if
it has indeed something to do with the u+0x80 problem.

On a sidenote, songti wasn't provided in cjk-latex either. I hope
you got the font somewhere in your local TEXMF tree. Is it from the
FangZheng family?

Bug#396337: check_tcp: check_tcp (check_pop) fails on some specific +OK messages

2006-10-31 Thread Benoit Panizzon
Package: nagios-plugins
Version: 1.4-6
Severity: normal
File: check_tcp

I have a very strange phenomena here. It looks like check_tcp has a boundary
problem, being called as check_pop.

If a server answers with this string:
+OK [EMAIL PROTECTED]

it get's a timeout.

If the string is slightly longer, example:
+OK [EMAIL PROTECTED]

it is always successfull.

From my point of view only the lenght of the return string is relevant to
cause this timeout.
Any ideas?

Milan,

The amd64 binary package doesn't contain any plugins, just files in the
 /usr/share/doc and /usr/share/locale directories.

Thanks for picking this up.

This is actually occuring across all archectures and is due to the Epoc
missing from the Build-Depends: digikam ( 1:0.9).

I should be uploading tonight.

Bug#396340: choose-mirror doesn't allow to use a d-i only mirror for .udebs.

2006-10-31 Thread Sven Luther
Package: choose-mirror
Severity: normal

I have a local mirror of the .udeb debian-installer repo, and want to use this
one for d-i testing, and another mirror for the full debian archive.

I thought i would set the mirror to my local .udeb archive, and then later
change it in expert mode to the debian archive, to get all the .debs.

choose-mirror did not let me do this though, and gave me an error message
saying that my mirror doesn't support my architecture, and the log showed it
checked for the main .deb archive, not the .udeb one.

Friendly,

Sven Luther

Package: linux-2.6
Version: 2.6.18-2
Severity: grave

After booting my hercules emulator with 2.6.18, I noticed some errors during
a packages upgrade, like:
tar: ./config: time stamp 2006-10-27 10:52:22.00126 is 4290.653417 s in the
future

Further investigation showed that the system clock in running wild:

These 'date' commands were given within 15-20 minutes or so. Actual time
when the emulator was started was around 2006-10-24 17:30.

After rebooting the emulator with 2.6.17-9, the problem was gone.

This series from a later boot with 2.6.18, taken within 2 minutes, is even
crazier.
It shows the clock jumping all over the place (real time Oct 24, 22:30):

make them immediatly available on the beep-media-player skin browser
menu. Right now, every user must configure it manually, by
changing an environment variable which is quite annoying.

Bug#396343: nsca: config file specifies wrong location for nagios2 command file

Bug#396017: not reasonable win32 codecs path

This is the location of the win32 codeces I use at the moment with vlc

unfortunately it seems that currently mplayer does not have a codec
path, it only has a codec dir; but we are discussing this fact

in the new upload 1.0~rc1-3 , the dir is /usr/lib/codecs ; if you want
to share codecs with /usr/local/lib/win32 , you may use a symlink

To solve this issue, open your /etc/squid/squid.conf, search for the

If this works, then squid does in fact not need a FQDN, and therefore
shouldn't fail if it doesn't find one. So I reopen this bug.

Bug#396346: mplayer: please consider adding an epoch to your package

2006-10-31 Thread Pierre Habouzit
Package: mplayer
Version: 1.0~rc1-2
Severity: normal

I suppose you are aware than there is a *VERY* popular package made on
http://www.debian-multimedia.org already, that has a 1: epoch. sadly,
your package has none, and even with an 1: epoch, given that you use
a ~ scheme in the revision, you still would be smaller than the one of
d-m.org:

[madcoder mad] apt-cache policy mplayer
mplayer:
  Installé : 1.0~rc1-2
  Candidat : 1:1.0-rc1-0.0
 Table de version :
 1:1.0-rc1-0.0 0
500 http://www.debian-multimedia.org sid/main Packages
 *** 1.0~rc1-2 0
500 http://ftp.fr.debian.org sid/main Packages
100 /var/lib/dpkg/status

I know that mplayer is not official but if you want users to use it,
you'll have to ensure an upgrade path for that very common unofficial
package. that's the least you can do.

  I'd suggest using a 2: epoch.

Cheers,

Hey mate !

Thanks for the quick answer !

I downgraded to 2.0.2 and it is working now.

If not a lot of people are reporting the issue then I guess it must be a
configuration issue on our side... Let me know if I can send you more
info.

Perhaps you can try to downgrade the package using snapshot.debian.net

Bug#396295: openssh-server: scp copies filenames with extended characters in the wrong character set, or sshd does not know about local locale for filenames

If you copy files from one system to another with scp, the filenames don't
always end up in the expected character set. For instance, when files are
copied from a iso-8859-(1/15) locale machine to a machine with UTF-8
locale, the filenames show up unreadable to local console and X programs.

The openssh server probably needs to be aware of the local locale; but
that will probably not solve the case where one user's locale differs from
the system locale, unless the character sets happen to be rather compatible.

Am I missing an easy way to make sure filesnames are stored with local
locale settings (in non-interactive login sessions such as scp)?

Filenames historically haven't really had an encoding in Unix; they're
just byte strings that may or may not happen even to be representable in
your current locale. Messing with this in scp would open all sorts of
interesting cans of worms (what happens if the filename isn't
representable in the target encoding? what if you normally set your
locale only for interactive login sessions, so the locale apparent to
scp will be different? etc.). Dealing with this is exactly the sort of
thing that isn't going to be done in scp, which cannot be significantly
extended (http://www.openssh.org/faq.html#2.10).

It may be possible to extend sftp to do this. If
draft-ietf-secsh-filexfer ever gets out of the Internet-Draft status, it
will provide a mechanism for filename translation (see section 6 of
ftp://ftp.nordu.net/internet-drafts/draft-ietf-secsh-filexfer-13.txt).
However, doing this in advance of the standards process would cause
interoperability problems.

In the meantime, I suggest recoding the filenames after the fact. A
rename(1) script could do the job, such as:

  rename 'use Encode; Encode::from_to($_, iso-8859-1, utf-8)'

Cheers,

The noninteractive select list handling should make the value be the
first item on the list, gdm, but this doesn't happen. So this bug
could affect more than gdm; the reported but never really tracked down
issues with wordlist selection questions could also be caused by this.

I came up with the attached patch, which I've tested to work, and which
seems to make perfect sense to me..

Looks entirely correct to me, and I'm glad you spotted that. Not sure
why I did it this way to begin with; it's possible I simply hadn't quite
got the hang of debconf's object model yet.

This could also explain #393427, although I think the workaround (adding
a Default) was correct anyway.

Cheers,

It depends. Anybody who has launched gnome-hearts in the past tries to
use bonded.png; there's also a report about bonded.svg being ugly in

Ouch :-(

Bug#396337: Acknowledgement (check_tcp: check_tcp (check_pop) fails on some specific +OK messages)

2006-10-31 Thread Benoit Panizzon
Hi Again

It looks like we have been able to quite exactly figure out what goes wrong.

From Kernel 2.6.17 on, the tcp_window_scaling code was changed.
found on:
http://inodes.org/blog/2006/09/06/tcp-window-scaling-and-kernel-2617/

Linux starts with very small packets.

Our POP +OK string is exaclty 47 bytes long and split into two reads:
46 bytes + 1 byte

check_tcp apparently fails if a read is split into multiple reads and
terminates thos two reads with \0 and overwrites the first 46 bytes by
terminating them with \0 after the lenght of the second read, thus leaving
something like +O or even shorter remaining in the buffer.

If the string is shorter everything is OK as it fits into one read.
If the string is longer, the overwriting happens after the +OK and again the
check is OK.

Quick Fix: Disable TCP Window Scaling:

echo 0 /proc/sys/net/ipv4/tcp_window_scaling

Mit freundlichen Grüssen

Bug#396347: arrayprobe cron job complains every night if no supported controller is present

2006-10-31 Thread Petter Reinholdtsen

Package: arrayprobe
Version: 2.0-2

When installing arrayprobe on a machine without any HP SmartArray
controller, it will complain nightly via cron about the lack of any
controller:

   /etc/cron.daily/arrayprobe:
   CRITICAL no logical drives detected
   run-parts: /etc/cron.daily/arrayprobe exited with return code 2

I discovered this as we install the package by default in debian-edu
(along with several other RAID checking packages) to make sure those
with hardware raid have the tool they need to control and check their
RAID system.

Please change the cron job to keep quiet unless the required RAID
controller is present in the machine.

Known issue and the reason why the screenshot button is disabled when a
progress bar is running.

Apparently we are disabling the screenshot button too late here.

Reassigning to cdebconf-gtk-udeb as that is what causes the crash, and it
would be good to investigate the actual cause of the crash and seeing if
we can solve that. Disabling the button was only a workaround.

Note that in the mean time we may need to fix this in choose-mirror after
all by displaying a progress bar at this point.

Accessing the GdkWindow by a thread while the window is being updated by
another thread in the gtk_main_loop() causes crashes, and this is the
reason why i made the screenshot button disappear during a
progress_xxx() call, in fact past experiments aimed at gaining exclusive
access to the gdkwidow led to deadlocks between threads.
Robert, did you press the button before the progressbar was displayed or
were you able to press it while the progressbar was running?

When I pressed it no progress bar was being displayed. I don't know if one was
going to show up eventualy, but it was taking too much time and in fact the
system appeared to be hang because of this.

I've been able to reproduce the crash as Robert described it.
The problem is that i forgot to disable the screenshot button when
exiting from a frontend_go(), like i did for the next and back ones.
When the user clicks back or next, the GTK application exits the
gtk's main loop and there the callback function associated to the
screenshot button, which is still active, causes the crash as expected.
This is also the reason why i disabled the screenshot button while a
progessbar is being updated: the callback would have arrived between two
progress_xxx() calls, outside gtk main loop.
The attached patch fixes this bug: the screenshot button is disabled
after the user exits from a questions, and a bit earlier than before to
prevent possible nasty timing issues.

cheers

Bug#321403: 8139too network driver won't work with my card (it did with 2.6.8)

2006-10-31 Thread Csillag Kristóf
Hi David,

Sorry for the slow response; since I quitted my previous job,
it's a bit more difficult to get physical access to the computer in question.
(On the other hand, I don't really care about it any more.)

Anyway, I tested it with 2.6.18-3, and without acpi=off, the system is still
screwed up. (Now the hard disks are controlled by a PCI raid controller,
and even that was not detected, so I could not even boot.)

I don't have time to try the mentioned workaround.

Best wishes:

   Kristof

Raise the severity to what level? Supporting 64-bit kernels for i386 is not
a release-critical issue. They would be nice to have, but I'm not going to
try to force the kernel team to support them as there may be reasons they
don't wish to.

Can someone from the kernel team comment on whether there are problems with
this particular patch that have not yet been noted in the bug report? If
there aren't any known objections, I could review the patch myself and look

Bug#395961: gabber: Links with GPL-incompatible licensed OpenSSL

Francesco Poli [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote:

I agree. As well as breaking policy, it means the same report may
appear again.

Moreover: it seems that one of the libraries the package depends
on is available under the terms of the GNU GPL v2, without any
additional linking permission: namely libgnomemm[1][2]. [...]

http://gtkmm.sourceforge.net/ says: 'gtkmm is free software distributed
under the GNU Library General Public License (LGPL).' The COPYING in
the stable libgnomemm*tar.bz2 seems to confirm that.

Why is debian distributing libgnomemm under the GPL?

Puzzled,

Bug#395052: Please provide the GTK frontend with a better handler for BOOLEAN questions

2006-10-31 Thread Attilio Fiandrotti

Hi

Here is a cleaner patch for this bug: don't feel impressed/scared by the
number of changed lines, it's mostly due to re-indentation of code after
removing a couple of if()s.

This patch was tested by me during the whole past week and worked well.
Most important, this handler no longer erroneously updates the question
database like the current one does when the user checks/unchecks the
checkbox.

cheers

Bug#396180: hfsplus: FTBFS (linux/string.h: No such file or directory)

Hi,

On Mon, Oct 30, 2006, Aurélien GÉRÔME wrote:

 Sure.

Aurélien, would you be so kind to suggest this upstream?
No, upstream is not active anymore and does not care. Is it also my
 fault? Come on, please...

Please don't try to read me wrong. If anywhere, the fix belongs
upstream; I didn't knew upstream was dead, and I don't know hfsplus'
upstream, so I suggested you might forward it (instead of, say, me).

If it's dead, I suppose it makes you upstream for it, and it's nice you
 could merge this.

(I'm noting this here in case Aurélien didn't read my reply on IRC.)
Again, adhominem stuff... Like if I never answered people on
IRC... Like if I did not maintain my packages... Instead of bashing
me like the evil NM which I am not, would you be so kind to sponsor
 this upcoming upload? ;)

Please don't try to read me wrong. I noted this here because I wanted
my efforts to counter-verify your claims to be documented and not
wasted, so that other persons don't have to do it again, and to get
fact straights. I never said you don't reply on IRC, but you didn't
seem to be very open-minded with this bug report to begin with, so I
feared this bug might sleep needlessly.

It seems your upload doesn't need sponsoring anymore, but I would have
 sponsored it, of course.

Thanks for applying the patch,

After removing all backup files from that day, everything worked again.

Bug#396354: Removing locales after installation of locales-all result in no locales

2006-10-31 Thread Raphael Hertzog
Package: locales
Version: 2.3.6.ds1-4
Severity: normal

On alioth we provide all locales to our users and since I knew of locales-all
in etch, I installed it and immediately after I removed the locales
package since locales-all is providing it anyway.

This resulted in no installed locales... in fact both locales-all and
locales remove /usr/lib/locale/locale-archive on removal (see prerm).

I suggest either that both packages conflict or that the prerm snippet be
changed so that it effectively removes this file only when needed, ie when
the last of the two packages is removed.

There is the real reason, you request, to have 2.16 packages. It would

Bug#396028: Core dumps on start (alpha)

2006-10-31 Thread Luigi Gangitano

severity 396028 normal
retitle 396028 Fails to start on machines lacking FQDN and
visible_hostname

merge 396028 299431
thanks

Hi Falk,
squid needs a 'name' for the instance. It could get it from the
hostname or from the configuration file.

Configuration file setting takes precedence on the system hostname
(this is needed to be able to override system-wide settings) and thus
is impossible to ship squid with a default visible_hostname setting.

The installation process takes information provided by the
administrator to set a proper hostname on the machine. If something
fails in this process (because of an human error or a program error),
the machine is left with no hostname and squid fails to start since
it cannot work properly.

There are two solutions for this:
- fix the hostname setting of the machine
- override missing hostname information in squid configuration file

Neither of them can be done at the package level, since this is not a
package bug.

A better search in the BTS for squid would point you to bug #294431,
which is exactly the same bug as this. I'm now downgrading severity
of this bug since it can be resolved easily with a minor
configuration change (and it doesn't make squid 'unusable'),
retitling it to something more insightful and merging it with the
previous bug.

Regards,

Bug#396365: please add a gdb .udeb, for easier debugging inside d-i

2006-10-31 Thread Sven Luther
Package: gdb
Severity: normal
Tags: d-i

A version of gdb as .udeb, which could easily be loaded inside the d-i would
be very useful for developers. This would come in handy to debug various bugs
which are otherwise hard to track, like crashes in the graphical installer,
or problems like i am having right now, in parted/libparted, which only are
apparent inside the d-i environment.

Friendly,

Sven Luther

Bug#396094: Openoffice writer 2.0.4 crashes when saving under .doc format

2006-10-31 Thread Jean Baptiste Balleyguier
Hi,

 Jean Baptiste Balleyguier wrote:
Why don't you just include reportbugs info. I.e. just use reportbug?

I'm not sure I understand what you say (or write)...

reportbug package is the way to report proper bugs. It embeds some
info about whiversions, which arch etc..

Ok, now I'll use this...

   Every odt or just one?

Having made some tests...it seems it was only one document...so I'm
sorry... finally it's not an openoffice bug.

What makes you think that? I.e. what did you find out?

I think I found the little bee :
the file is taken from the web (copy-pasted from a Zope/Plone-based site). It
contained some images and tables : I deleted all, but it continued to crash.
It also contained some links : I deleted them, and the doc saved well...
maybe a problem with links ?
