Bug#416273: slapd -Not starting if ldap logs exist
tags 416273 moreinfo thanks If I attemp to run slapd while /var/lib/ldap/log* files exist, it fails to start while inicialising DB. The only way to start slapd is to delete the log* files first. This generally indicates a permission issue. If, for example, you run slapd as root and then later try to run it as another user, or if you change what user you're running slapd as, you need to change the ownership of all of the files in /var/lib/ldap to match the user you're running slapd as. Could you check and see if that's the problem that you're having? (And was this also the source of the problem you reported in #416272, to which I just responded?) -- Russ Allbery ([EMAIL PROTECTED]) http://www.eyrie.org/~eagle/ -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe. I put 2 %includedir%'s in one line... As a workaround, I'd suggest you to use pkg-config instead. I won't fix this bug before taking care of stable security updates. pkg-config has a different semantic and it probably doesn't have info about every single component shipped by xulrunner. For instance getting the include dir for cookie component, how can i achieve that. With xulrunner-config I would do xulrunner-config --cflags cookie Except for the javascript and nspr components, which has their own pkgconfig file, all components use /usr/include/xulrunner/$component (as you can see in the xulrunner-config file). For instance, epiphany's configure script just gets /usr/include/xulrunner from a pkgconfig file and adds the component to it. Anyways, that's just another broken way to do it. Bug#341832: Please check the presence of DB_CONFIG file for BDB backend
Experience told me that it is very important for BDB backend stability to have a DB_CONFIG file in the database path. I modified a bit /etc/init.d/slapd so that it checks the presence of this file. Please find attached the patch. I'm not sure if this is still worth doing or not with the current package. OpenLDAP will now write out a DB_CONFIG file for you based on the dbconfig options in slapd.conf if you have them, and the current slapd.conf for any new installation includes those options. Also, the package will write a DB_CONFIG file by default for new installations *and* for any installation in which we have to dump and reload the database. So this warning would only be for people with old configurations and old databases but who haven't upgraded through an upgrade that requires dumping and reloading the database. That seems like a fairly small set of people. I suppose the check and warning doesn't hurt anything, but I'm kind of ambivalent about committing it. -- Russ Allbery ([EMAIL PROTECTED]) http://www.eyrie.org/~eagle/ -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe. Bug#424989: local swap option should scan LVM as well as normal partitions

Perhaps it would be possible to scan /proc/partitions instead of using sfdisk. unfortunately, /proc/partitions does not provide information about which partitions are swap partitions. the current code relies on the partition type being set to swap. i'm hesitant to implement a feature that scans each and every device for a swap signature(which wouldn't even work if encrypted swap was used), which would be required to look for lvm devices. obviously, lvm related tools would also have to be present for any such code to work. Sorry, I am not in a position to offer a patch. without a patch, and the above concerns, i'm marking this as wontfix. if someone can come up with an elegant patch that addresses the above concerns, of course it would be reconsidered. live well, vagrant -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe. I could reproduce it: * in an up to date sid i386 chroot running with an amd64 kernel, on a 2-CPU system, using fakeroot * on an amd64 system, 2-CPU system, using fakeroot (without any chroot involved) I could NOT reproduce it: * on my laptop (i386, single CPU), even using fakeroot * without using fakeroot, on amd64 So, I think that it is related to fakeroot AND (smp OR amd64) Or maybe it's related to a specific kernel version. Bug#425292: unable to find kdcraw executable
IMHO we should move the kdcraw to /usr/lib/libkdcrawapi/kdcraw. I've got the okay by upstream for this change. My first try to tweak auto* magic accordingly failed last week, but I've managed something similar to kdebluetooth-dbus-integration pkg this week end, so I'm confident that get the libkdcraw change in. Achim, Thanks for your followup. I agree with you if we can get digikam to look for kdcraw under libkdcrawapi/ I've upload libkdcraw-runtime in the meantime, so that we have something that works, but once we can get your changes in, then we can change to ship kdcraw with the libs and depreciate the libkdcraw-runtime package. Bug#423839: liferea: Not fixed at all
Package: liferea Version: 1.2.15b-1 Followup-For: Bug #423839 -BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE- Hash: SHA1 The bug wasn't really fixed. According to powertop Liferea is causing about 160 wakeups-from-idle per second on my system, which is between 20 and 35% of the total. That's even more than an amule with ongoing uploads and downloads (only 80 wakeups). Strace shows that it's polling every second or so and calling gettimeofday 31 times! in between polls (coincidentally 31 is the number of feeds I have in Liferea). This happens while idle; the update monitor shows no activity. Moreover, when working in offline mode gettimeofday is not abused anymore, but Liferea still polls about two times per second. - -- System Information: Debian Release: lenny/sid APT prefers unstable APT policy: (500, 'unstable') Architecture: i386 (i686) Kernel: Linux 2.6.21.1-ck2 Locale: LANG=es_AR.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=es_AR.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/bash Versions of packages liferea depends on: ii dbus [dbus-1-utils] 1.0.2-5 simple interprocess messaging syst ii gconf2 2.18.0.1-3 GNOME configuration database syste ii libatk1.0-0 1.18.0-2 The ATK accessibility toolkit ii libc6 2.5-9+b1 GNU C Library: Shared libraries ii libcairo2 1.4.6-1.1The Cairo 2D vector graphics libra ii libdbus-1-3 1.0.2-5 simple interprocess messaging syst ii libdbus-glib-1-20.73-2 simple interprocess messaging syst ii libfontconfig1 2.4.2-1.2generic font configuration library ii libgcc1 1:4.2-20070528-1 GCC support library ii libgconf2-4 2.18.0.1-3 GNOME configuration database syste ii libgcrypt11 1.2.4-2 LGPL Crypto library - runtime libr ii libglib2.0-02.12.12-1The GLib library of C routines ii libgnutls13 1.6.3-1 the GNU TLS library - runtime libr ii libgtk2.0-0 2.10.12-2The GTK+ graphical user interface hi libice6 1:1.0.3-2X11 Inter-Client Exchange library ii liblua505.0.3-2 Main interpreter library for the L ii liblualib50 5.0.3-2 Extension library for the Lua 5.0 ii libnm-glib0 0.6.4-8+b1 network management framework (GLib ii libnotify1 [libnotify1- 0.4.4-3 sends desktop notifications to a n ii libnspr4-0d 4.6.6-3 NetScape Portable Runtime Library ii liborbit2 1:2.14.7-0.1 libraries for ORBit2 - a CORBA ORB ii libpango1.0-0 1.16.4-1 Layout and rendering of internatio hi libsm6 2:1.0.3-1X11 Session Management library ii libstdc++6 4.2-20070528-1 The GNU Standard C++ Library v3 hi libx11-62:1.0.3-7X11 client-side library ii libxcursor1 1:1.1.8-2X cursor management library ii libxext61:1.0.3-2X11 miscellaneous extension librar ii libxfixes3 1:4.0.3-2X11 miscellaneous 'fixes' extensio ii libxi6 1:1.0.1-4X11 Input extension library ii libxinerama11:1.0.2-1X11 Xinerama extension library ii libxml2 2.6.28.dfsg-1GNOME XML library ii libxrandr2 2:1.2.1-1X11 RandR extension library ii libxrender1 1:0.9.2-1X Rendering Extension client libra ii libxslt1.1 1.1.20-1 XSLT processing library - runtime ii libxul0d1.8.1.4-1Gecko engine library ii zlib1g 1:1.2.3-15 compression library - runtime liferea recommends no packages. - -- no debconf information -BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE- Version: GnuPG v1.4.6 (GNU/Linux) iD8DBQFGYTR+823633cP2P8RAlsKAKCGkgh4mSlJld+c5Q2NSi5YnLwZDwCfb7/c vNpB3DgezdWeNcRIi1gbZdw= =LpbJ -END PGP SIGNATURE- -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe. Bug#427171: knetworkmanager hangs when querying kwallet during session start up
Package: network-manager-kde Version: 1:0.1-2 Severity: important --- Please enter the report below this line. --- When knetworkmanager is loaded by the KDE session and queries kwallet, the password dialog pops up. But the dialog says, that konqueror or DCOPServer wants to access the wallet. After entering the password, knetworkmanager hangs. This might be related to bug #406162 - however, the behaviour is somewhat different. Like in bug #406162 I need to kill knetworkmanager and start it again. Some lines from .xsession-errors, which may be relevant: === QInputContext: no input method context available kded: WARNING: Application 'konqueror' using kwallet without parent window! Very strange! got a DCOPReplyDelayed opcode, but we were not waiting for a reply! === - no message by knetworkmanager until it is restarted. Bug#427172: xorg: no dependency of xorg to xorg-docs
Package: xorg Severity: wishlist File: xorg Hello, the chain of dependencies from x-window-system - xorg - xorg-docs installs the considerable number of PDFs that I do not consider necessary for a regular user. Bug#426393: libcurl3-dev depreciated (was: Bug#426393: asterisk: uninstallable due to dependancy on libcurl3)
Dear libcurl team, When you depreciate libcurl3-dev all downstream dependant packages require at least a rebuild, if not a reload to change the Build-Depends: from libcurl3-dev to libcurl4-dev. At the minimum, could you send a courtesy email to all downstream packages (Cc:) so we know we need to upload after your library transition. Best option would be for you to file a bug report against those packages which will require a reload after your library/dev transition. Otherwise the users will trickle bug reports (attached) through to individual packages... Bug#427161: Should recommend iceweasel too
Well, I just checked : iceweasel provides www-browser, and so does every www browser in debian (except netscape for some reason, and mozilla* package, since they all depend on some ice* package now). But maybe it's not the right thing to depend on for djvulibre-plugin since i guess it's useless with links. Perhaps the better thing would be a graphical-www-browser virtual package, but surely this doesn't exist. Right, www-browser, or a hypothetical graphical-www-browser, wouldn't suffice. What is really needed is mozilla-plugin-compatible-browser. I'd assumed this was what mozilla-browser is really supposed to mean, but perhaps not. So thank you for adding iceweasel, and, I forgot, maybe you should add iceape-browser too for the same reason. Done in CVS; you can see it on sourceforge which also holds the debian/ stuff. I will wait for some more substantial changes before duploading it. --Barak. -- Barak A. Pearlmutter Hamilton Institute Dept Comp Sci, NUI Maynooth, Co. I haven't something else available so I can check ssh. - but my amarok keeps playing 12:25 tarzeau pusling: maybe your x driver don't support 320x240 with 8bit color? which is something any vga card should be able to do 12:25 tarzeau pusling: can you try using the vesa driver? 12:26 tarzeau pusling: or replace the GFX_AUTODETECT with GFX_AUTODETEC_WINDOWED 12:26 tarzeau pusling: and rebuild it 12:26 tarzeau pusling: or i build it you test it? 12:26 tarzeau pusling: and then we add a -f (fullscreen) and -w (window) modes 12:29 * pusling installs vesa 12:29 tarzeau i think #349837 is closed by gtamsanalyzer.app can someone affirm? 12:30 tarzeau pusling: that'd just be the bad workaround... but yes i wonder what happens 12:30 tarzeau pusling: if you don't want to build it, tell me i'll make you a new deb 12:31 tarzeau pusling: works in window mode here... :) 12:32 pusling tarzeau: with vesa driver I get a nice little window that says donkey bolonkey with moving donkeys. Bug#254999: slapd: postinst conflicts with daemontools (should also conflict with runit)
Hi Russ, On Fri, 01.06.2007 at 16:45:32 -0700, Russ Allbery [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: #SLAPD_SENTINEL_FILE=/etc/noldap (Debian really needs a more automated way of doing things like this, but that's a larger discussion that won't resolve soon.) If the other OpenLDAP package maintainers agree, I'll implement this. I'm almost entirely running things like slapd through runit these days, so a sane runit starting environment would imho be good (chrooted + hdb by default). If you have a suggestion for a good place, I'll be probably able to contribute such a thing, but this doesn't interact too well with logcheck (different formats etc.). Otherwise, I'd assumed that just having a variable like START_SLAPD in /etc/default/slapd similar to what SSH or other packages have, would imho be sufficient.
