yes, that's because the fontforge script is dump; it builds the ttf and
then, converts the postscript fonts from the ttfs instead of building
the postscript fonts from the sources; that convertion takes a lot of time..

so, bottom line: it's not actually a problem, it is just incredible
nasty and needs to be fixed nevertheless. help for updating the
convert.pe script is welcome.

Bug#444495: After gnome upgrade amule dies when it try to update server list

2007-09-29 Thread Giovanni Bortolozzo
Package: amule
Version: 2.1.3-4
Severity: grave
Justification: renders package unusable

After the system upgrade to gnome 2.20 amule stop to work.

When it starts it suddendly die when it tries to upgrade server list.

This seem to be a know bug and will be resolved in the next release
(2.2.0 now in CVS) but maybe a patch it's already avaiable.
http://forum.amule.org/index.php?topic=13258.0

This but is reproducible, also with a fresh amule configuration:
I move my .aMule dir to a new dir and the start amule again... same
problem.

I hope you can solve it... or at least make a new amule package from
the cvs (it needs wxgtk 2.8.x)

 Giovanni

A full build log can be found at

This is a regression from previous versions of orpie, which built
successfully on both architectures.

It is also holding up the release-critical gsl update for the long double
ABI transition, so orpie will be removed from testing until this is
resolved.

 Which xserver-xorg-video-intel did you have before? Stable/Etch? Lenny?

I used unstable but because of this problem (and haven't enough time to

Now I needed a new install.

 regardless of the current *Lock states.

 From the timing of my last session and my upgrades, I would say that
 this occurred with the past month or so. (It would certainly agree
 with the 1.2.2 release.) I tried downgrading, but the conflict with
 xserver-xorg-core was a bit too much for me.

Known problem in Xserver 1.4, might be fixed in the near future. I am

Bug#444499: field completion / suggestion often gets in the way

2007-09-29 Thread Frederik Eaton
Package: iceweasel
Version: 2.0.0.6-1
Severity: normal

Hello,

I will give an example to illustrate my point. I have tried it out in
safe mode.

(1) I enter minimal entropy martingale measure in Google's search
text box

(2) When the results come up, I want change my search text to minimal
martingale measure. I click just after the word entropy in the text
box at the top of the results page, and the completion minimal
entropy martingale measure appears appears in a menu below the box
(even though that same string is also already in the box). (Actually,
this happens only about 50% of the time, it may be necessary to try
clicking at different parts of the word) Since I had to click on the
search box to change the text, my cursor is right near the box. When I
take my hand off the mouse to type, the cursor happens to move down a
few pixels (this happens a lot when I use a trackpad, but also when I
use my optical mouse), briefly crossing over the menu of completions.

(3) This results in the single completion being highlighted.
Inexplicably, it stays highlighted even when my mouse has moved off of
it to below the bottom of the menu. Even more strangely, it stays
highlighted when I start typing in the text box.

(4) I hit delete a few times to delete the word entropy, but the
completion minimal martingale martingale measure, the text of my
original search, is still highlighted.

(5) I hit enter. This doesn't result in a new search with the new
contents of the search box, as I had hoped; but it results in the
completion (a useless completion, no less, since it was the original
text of the box) being selected, and the edit I just made
disappearing, and the text minimal martingale martingale measure
returning to the search box, and no search happening.

So, completion as implemented in this program (is it possible to turn
it off, by the way?) is basically incompatible with my mouse moving
down a few pixels after I take my hand off of it. That seems rather
demanding - the mouse is an analog device and the cursor can't be
expected to stay 100% still all the time. In general, it seems like a
good idea for a highlighted menu selection to become unhighlighted
when the user starts typing, even in the case where it is still under
the cursor (which it is not, in my example above), since typing
generally indicates a lack of intent to click.

Thank you in advance - I hope that this can be eventually fixed...

Frederik

Bug#391137: Confirmation

2007-09-29 Thread Jean-Michel Pouré
I can confirm this very grave bug.

After updating to Gnome 2.20, I cannot run Vlc and Audacity.
Both softwares segfault on startup.

Same problem on AMD64 and x86 stations.
I hope this will be fixed ASAP.

Kind regards,
Jean-Michel Pouré

 This is also related to #230780. Running two autossh's without
 setting -M manually causes the second one to exit immediately without
 doing anything; it tries to bind to the same port. Can't it get a
 randomly assigned port like everything else does?

this is ought to be fixed in 1.4a-1, do you mind retrying to see if the new
wrapper closes this bug?

thanks,

 This is strange. The URL http://www.nessus.org/nasl/all-2.0.tar.gz should

 Did you try downloading a registered feed through 'nessus-update-plugins'

 your installation and then download).

No, I didn't register myself.

 This package provides a development snapshot of emacs-w3m. If you want
 to use a stable version of emacs-w3m, install the w3m-el package instead

 Fumitoshi, what do you think of it? If you don't make an

I haven't heared any objections, so I'm assigning this bug to wnpp
as `ITP: w3m-el-snapshot'.

 BTW, Fumitoshi, you seem to be inactive as w3m-el maintainer
 recently. If you are busy for other tasks and/or lost interests in
 w3m-el, please mail me or debian-emacsen list. I or other

I'll wait more time for your reply about maintaining w3m-el.

  Is this a laptop? What outputs does it actually have and which are in

  weird connector. As such the driver is probably lighting up the wrong

 This is a desktop PC, hp dx5150MT. It has DVI-out and D-sub analogue
 output; which DVI is connected to the display.

It's most likely an external DVI chip, so maybe Alex can quirk it if
you figure out the correct connector table.

I can confirm this bug. One of my systems that has it was just installed
with lenny two days ago and has untouched sshd_config. The workaround is
uncommenting ListenAddress :: so only that is attempted instead of both
by default.

Bug#430849: proftpd: Problems with host address specifiers in inetd.conf

2007-09-29 Thread Francesco P. Lovergine
reassign 430849 update-inetd
thanks

This is a problem of update-inetd which lacks completely the
hostname/addresses list prefix management. I managed
to add a pre-check before adding the ftp line in 1.3.0-25. but update-inetd
--enable/--disable does not work anyway and that should be the
right program where parsing should be done correctly.

 Hi,

 I have configured proftpd to start from inetd, this creates a line like
 this:
 ftp stream tcp nowait root/usr/sbin/tcpd /usr/sbin/proftpd

 However, I only want it on localhost so I edited it to look like this:
 localhost:ftp   stream  tcp nowait  root/usr/sbin/tcpd /usr/sbin/proftpd

 Unfortunately running dpkg-reconfigure (or upgrading I gather) doesn't
 change the line I added (which AFAICT is legal) but readds the original
 one. If I remove it and try to start proftpd I get:
 ProFTPd warning: cannot start neither in standalone nor in inetd/xinetd
 mode. Check your configuration.

 Which is simply an annoyance because my line does work, but it
 indicates that this is both a proftpd and update-inetd problem, so I'm
 reporting this bug to the proftpd package first.

 greets,
 Wim

Bug#430381: Bug 430381 is actually a feature.

2007-09-29 Thread Paul Huygen
 When I type:

 unshield * /home/sam/dat

The console displays:

Unknown action 'd' on command line

That is not a bug, but a feature. The argument before the name of the cabfile
to be processed should be a single-character instruction about the action to
be performed.

If data.cab is the cab file, try:

unshield l data.cab

to list the contents

or

unshield -d outputdir l data.cab

(where outputdir is the directory to dump the contents of the cab file).

 The security updates present in 2.6.18.dfsg.1-13etch3 conflict with two
 hunks of the openvz patch.

 The attached patch is sufficient to make it apply, athough the line

Bug#444521: game crashs in german when talking to much to Jasmine + patch?

2007-09-29 Thread Matthias Krüger
Package: freedroidrpg
Version: 0.10.1-1
Severity: normal

--- Please enter the report below this line. ---
In english Jasmine dies, when talking to her to much; in german the game
crashs.

I think I've found the mistake:

In the english .dialog file there's a line (177):
DoSomethingExtra=DropDead
which I think to make Jasmine die.

In the german file the line (177) says:
 DoSomethingExtra= -- FALLE TOT UM

FALLE TOT UM means something like DropDead but I think that this
line was code and not thought to be translated. Could a developer please
 fix this german file (from DoSomethingExtra= -- FALLE TOT UM to
DoSomethingExtra=DropDead and test out, if the bug is fixet?

Thank you for your fine work!Matthias Krüger

Bug#431044: [php-maint] Bug#431044: Apache child exits on sql server functions

2007-09-29 Thread Walter Doekes
-BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-
Hash: SHA1

Hi debian folk.

 It's possible that the problem is also specific to tables containing
 non-ASCII data. You mentioned that the problem was not reproducible
 for you when using sqsh; could you also provide a sample result set
 for a query that succeeds with sqsh and fails with php5-sybase?

I don't think it's the same bug, but it's really close.
Please take a look at this one:
http://bugs.php.net/bug.php?id=33693
If also concerns sybase-ct and iconv.

See this sample script connecting to a MS SQL server:

?php
putenv('TDSVER=7.0');
$db = sybase_connect($server, $username, $password);
sybase_select_db('MODULES', $db);
sybase_query(DROP TABLE test_tbl);
sybase_query(CREATE TABLE test_tbl
  (a INT, b NVARCHAR(255), c UNIQUEIDENTIFIER));
sybase_query(INSERT INTO test_tbl VALUES
  (1, N'Hello World', NEWID()));
if (($q1 = sybase_query(SELECT a, b FROM test_tbl)))
print_r(sybase_fetch_row($q1));
if (($q2 = sybase_query(SELECT a, b, c FROM test_tbl)))
print_r(sybase_fetch_row($q2));
?

This outputs:

Array
(
[0] = 1
[1] = Hello World
)
error_handler: Data-conversion resulted in overflow.
Segmentation fault

If you replace the TDSVER=7.0 with TDSVER=4.2 you get:

Array
(
[0] = 1
[1] = Hello World
)
Array
(
[0] = 1
[1] = Hello World
[2] = 244ebbc892d6f24694ab8a08836fa86d
)

Obviously it would be better if this is fixed upstream. But this bug has
existed since 2005 and for me personally I only need it fixed in Debian
and Ubuntu ;-)

Walter Doekes
