bouncycastle fails to build from source on m68k. The default on m68k is
now gcj-4.2, maybe it's time to change the build-deps?

bouncycastle does not depend on gcj-4.2 directly. So no Build-Depends to
change.

It's also possible some other package isn't up-to-date because we're
working through a backlog, but changing to gcj-4.2 is probably a good
 idea anyway.

java-gcj-compat-dev needs to be updated to Depend on gcj-4.2 instead of
gcj-4.1 on m68k.

A full buildd log is available at
 http://buildd.debian.org/build.php?pkg=bouncycastlever=1.38-1arch=m68k

Something is borked. This bug is a duplicate of #440669 which was fixed
in bouncycastle 1.37-2. Its suspicious that it returns on *only* m68k.

Cheers,
Michael

Is there a real standard on what an info file should look like ? Or are we

Bug#459884: nmap: Error in man page

2008-01-11 Thread Richard van den Berg

Fyodor wrote:

I'm afraid it isn't that easy. nmap.1 is generated from DocBook
source (docs/nmap.xml in the Nmap tarball) using xsltproc. The best
solution would be to fix whatever part of the toolchain is producing
the invalid nroff. If you have suggestions or ideas, I'd be happy to
hear them. We use DocBook as the official man page source because we
also generate HTML and PDF versions.

I understand there is a flaw in the generation process that is beyond
your control, but the fact remains that the debian package ships with a
faulty man page. The fix (at least for debian) might be easy by patching
nmap.1 after it has been generated. I filed this bug from a usability
perspective (viewing the man page generates errors and misses 2 lines),
not to point out anyone made a mistake somewhere.

Hi,

sean finney wrote:

yeah, and (beeing the direct opposite of what Martin wrote) IMHO this
behaviour totally sucks. I've never seen that any system is so ignorant
to a user pressing the power button. I actually accept that the system
shall not shutdown _immediately_ if someone presses the power button,
because it might happen by accident (also I can not really understand
how someone can press the power button accidental) but at least it
should do that after a timeout just like it does if I call
System-Shutdown in the gnome menu. Actually this is the behaviour I
expect and so certainly the most of previous windows users do.

Is there any chance that this will be changed?

Package: libmailtools-perl
Followup-For: Bug #453324

Hi, Anibal,

Can you share what is the status of libmailtools-perl with regard to
upgrading it to version 2.01?

If you agree, the Debian Perl Group can take over the package and take
care in the future. You also can join the group and co-maintain it with
us. http://wiki.debian.org/Teams/DebianPerlGroup

We want the newew upstream because the new upstream version of
libmail-box-perl depends on it.

Bug#460114: RFP: ctdb -- Clustered TDB

2008-01-11 Thread Mathieu PARENT
Hi,

I have already tried to make the package, following ''Debian New
Maintainers' Guide'' (http://www.us.debian.org/doc/maint-guide/)
without success. It was asking for Makefile.

However, it is just because i don't understand anything about
autoconf, autotools, makefile etc. It builds perfectly in /usr/local
(http://ctdb.samba.org/building.html). And this allow to build samba
2.2pre with clustering (which i haven't yet tested, i will during the
month).

Bug#458350: Another crash case

2008-01-11 Thread David Fokkema
Another way to kill the server:

mysql select User,Host from mysql.user group by User;
ERROR 2013 (HY000): Lost connection to MySQL server during query

caused by a signal 11.

Interestingly, group by Host doesn't trigger a segfault.

I think this bug's severity maybe should be grave or critical, since
many software packages use the group by statement. All my web
applications are unusable with this mysql version on arm. As far as I
know, there is no workaround.

I'm interested in what will happen now. Could a simple rebuild of etch3
solve the problem? If not, what will happen then? Do we simply wait for
a new version for etch? Could I try to download the source package, try
to sort out the differences between etch1 and etch3 and remove the
patches one by one, cross compile, test, and figure out what patch
caused it? Or is that a bit too simple?

Thanks!

Bug#460208: kpat: crash when started with kdegames-card-data package from unstable

2008-01-11 Thread Gallien Matthieu
Package: kpat
Version: 4:3.98.0~svn755919-1
Severity: important

Hi,
first thank you for all your work on packaging kde !!!

I installed kdegames from experimental, and then could not start kpat.
Each time I try to launch it, it crashes before having shown anything.
This morning I tried to install kdegames-card-data from experimental and
suddenly kpat is working nicely.
Maybe you could add a dependency to force to install kdegames-card-data
from kde4 instead of the kde3 version.

If you need more informations, you can contact me.

Best regards

Bug#433835: nautilus: No documentation on which volumen devices icons are shown and which filtered

2008-01-11 Thread Josselin Mouette
Le vendredi 11 janvier 2008 à 03:11 +0100, Javier Fernández-Sanguino

 630 /bin,

Yes.

The way it is implemented, the exclusion list fails to exclude
filesystems that are mounted under those that it hides (in my situation
/home/mirrors under /home, which is excluded). Is this a bug?

It is intentional, but not optimal.

Maybe it should be changed (line 694):

if (strcmp (mount_point, fhs23_toplevel_mount_points[i]) == 0)

 to

if (strncmp (mount_point, fhs23_toplevel_mount_points[i],
 sizeof(fhs23_toplevel_mount_points[i])) == 0)

so that it would exclude both '/home/' and any filesystems mounted under
'/home'? This is just an example, it should be more elaborate since the
above code can lead to false positives as it would also exclude the
'/home_company' filesystem (which would not mounted underneath '/home'). It
wouldn't be too difficult to implement a patch for this feature (hide a
system volume and all volumes underneath it). Should I do it?

This is a good idea, but that needs better thought. Especially, volumes
under /media and /mnt must not be ignored.

The way I have dealt with it until now is to add commonly found
locations in 06_blacklist-directories.patch.

You say that Nautilus only blacklists from a hardcoded list but, actually,
reading that code I see it calls libhal_volume_should_ignore() to
explicitly ignore volumes. It seems that if a volume has the property
volume.ignore defined in HAL it is not presented. So it actually seems that
the sysadmin could adjust the configuration files under /etc/hal/fdi to
explicitly tell nautilus to ignore a volume.

Yes, both blacklists add together.

Could this behaviour please be documented somewhere?

It could, but I???m not sure where to put it so that people interested in
  it will find it.

It should be in Nautilus Help documentation (as the manpage is very brief).

Frankly I don’t think so. This is the user manual and should not talk
about such advanced settings.

That's where I tried to look for it first. Other options would be GNOME's
System Admistrators Guide, maybe under the 'lockdown' section. Since this is
actually limiting what users see of the system underneath from their
 Desktops.

That would be a better option indeed. As it is a translated manual, I
also think it should be done upstream.

Version: 0.8.0-13

To be able to check boot script order, and also to be able to start
boot scripts in parallel, it is important to know the dependencies of
the various boot scripts. The Linux Software Base specifies a init.d
header file format useful for this purpose, and adding such header to
the anacron init.d script would make it possible for me to use this
information to check the current sequence and to speed up the debian
boot.

I am working on a system to update the boot sequence based on these
dependencies, and would like see this as the default in Lenny.
Because of this, it is nice if the dependencies was updated quickly.

URL:http://refspecs.freestandards.org/LSB_2.1.0/LSB-generic/LSB-generic/initscrcomconv.html
documents the LSB header format. Some debian notes are available from
URL:http://wiki.debian.org/LSBInitScripts.

Here is a patch to document the dependencies. I hope this is correct.

Bug#460221: courier-authdaemon: Please add LSB formatted dependency info in init.d script

2008-01-11 Thread Petter Reinholdtsen

Package: courier-authdaemon
Version: 0.60.1-1
Tags: patch
User: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
Usertags: missing-dependency

As the stop script do not seem to do anything except killing the

Bug#439265: Also found in 0.61, please fix

2008-01-11 Thread André Wendt
found 439265 0.61
severity 439265 important

I'm bumping severity because this bug has a major effect on the
usability of a package. Package management exists because users don't
want to fiddle with dependencies.

This does not only involve *-data packages. Steps to reproduce:

1. Install the tor package
2. Verify that privoxy, tsocks and socat are installed along with it.
3. Uninstall tor
4. Now I have three more packages installed than before step 1.

This behavior defeats the whole purpose of package management. During
the four months I've now been using synaptic, I cannot recall a single
instance where synaptic removed more than the requested packages.

Please fix this as soon as possible.

Regards,
André
