The portion of code is: elsif ($interpreter !~ m,/(sh|ash|dash)$,) { It should instead use something like: elsif ($interpreter !~ m,/[a-z]*(sh)$,) { I have to agree with Peter here. By definition, a bashism is the use of a bash-specific feature in a script that is written according to the structure and grammar defined in POSIX/SUS/XSI, without that script being marked with a bash shebang. Attempting to check for bashisms in scripts that don't implement that language doesn't make sense. One could argue that the check should support ksh, although I seem to remember that most bashisms are also kshisms. Adam -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe. If empty the string indicates the beginning of +the day. The string may contain calendar date items, time of day +items, time zone items, day of week items, relative items, and pure +numbers. The date string format is more complex than is easily +documented here but is fully described in the info documentation. 1) Sentence #3 (The string may contain...) might go before #2, (If empty...). 2) Suggest 's/If empty the/An empty/'. Less to think of. 3) Are five instances of the plural noun items necessary? The plural doesn't make logical sense for one-shot items, e.g. may contain ... day of week itemS?, but the 'touch' date string contains at most one day. Good suggestions. Fixing this problem will give this module more exposure and will possibly help bring to light (and hopefully allow us to fix) more bugs. -Alain yeah right and people have it working right now oldstyle. irc initramfs-tools has some patches for this i810 either merged or in the bts. regards -- maks -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe. Bug#460692: ships duplicate /u/s/d/g/README.gz when autobuilt
Hi, The problem is that you have a install/ghostscript-doc:: rule which *moves* stuff from debian/ghostscript to debian/ghostscript-doc. However, since -doc is Arch: all, it is not run at all on a binary-only build (such as on the buildds) and thus you get file conflicts for all architectures other than the one you upload for. 'mv' should be banned from debian/rules. It causes problems like this, is not idempotent, and generally confusing. Please install upstream files into debian/tmp and use dh_install properly. This is also reported upstream: http://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=9528 Simply upgrading to a XCB-enabled libx11 build causes clients to start hanging inside _XReply. There is a bunch of analysis at http://lists.freedesktop.org/archives/xcb/2007-August/002961.html too. To reproduce, download a build of Houdini 9.0 from www.sidefx.com and run it. You will see various hangs almost immediately upon running 'houdini'. As it seems threading related: Does XInitThreads() get called and finish before any other libX11 function is called? Perhaps something like: b This function can improve efficiency in some applications compared to malloc()/free(). Otherwise its use is discouraged. Fair enough. I reworked the text some more: NOTES The alloca() function is machine- and compiler-dependent. For certain applications, its use can improve efficiency compared to the use of malloc(3) plus free(3). In cer- tain cases, it can also simplify memory deallocation in applications that use longjmp(3) or siglongjmp(3). Oth- erwise, its use is discouraged. Because the space allocated by alloca() is allocated within the stack frame, that space is automatically freed if the function return is jumped over by a call to longjmp(3) or siglongjmp(3). I've managed to reproduce this behavior by the following: 1) Installed ejabberd; 2) stopped it; 3) changed hostname to localhost; 4) started ejabberd. So, ejabberd database is tied to the old hostname and can't be used with new localhost hostname. A solution could be to restore old hostname (and make sure that erlang understood the change - the easiest way to check is to run 'erl -sname temp' and look at the shell prompt. Or you could migrate database to a new hostname (see http://www.ejabberd.im/migrate-host for details). Bug#462642: package versions in debian testing
Hello Gentlemen The reason of my writing to you is that the package versions of evolution and evolution-data-server in debian testing (/debian/dists/testing/main/binary-amd64/Packages.bz2) seem to be out of sync. Downloading ftp://ftp.debian.org/debian/dists/testing/main/binary-i386/Packages.bz2 (also i386) shows the following: bzcat Packages-i386.bz2 | grep -A7 ^Package: evolution\(-data-server \)\?$ Package: evolution Priority: optional Section: gnome Installed-Size: 7735 Maintainer: Debian Evolution Maintainers [EMAIL PROTECTED] Architecture: i386 Version: 2.12.3-1 Replaces: evolution-common ( 2.6.2-3), evolution-plugins (= 2.6.1-2) -- Package: evolution-data-server Priority: optional Section: gnome Installed-Size: 1080 Maintainer: Debian Evolution Maintainers [EMAIL PROTECTED] Architecture: i386 Source: evolution-data-server (1.12.2-1) Version: 1.12.2-1+b1 If I install these Versions (just apt-get upgrade, in my case) the following problem comes up in Evolution: When trying to connect to a pop mailbox, using ssl, the sending receiving... dialog doesn't appear any more, but a error message, saying Cannot connect to pop.postmail.ch: SSL unavailable appears instead and the mails are not fetched. If I do apt-get install -t unstable evolution-data-server, version 1.12.3-1 gets installed and everything is fine. But it took me quiet a long time to find that simple solution! It doesn't make sense to me that the two Packages are not in sync (with evolution-data-server version always being evolution version minus one, which is also not clear to me, but at least systematic). Obviously the two Packages heavily depend on each other and should always be in sync. Hopefully the problem will soon be solved for others and maybe a bit more care be taken in the future. Also, I think, evolution, is not the only place where such things happen, when packages are descending from unstable to testing - things sometimes stop working as seamlessly as they did in unstable - or am I missing something? Yours sincerely Patrick

Bug#463228: crm114: should return-zero if a subshell fails
Package: crm114 Version: 20060704a-5 Severity: normal I've started having problems like this: /usr/bin/crm: *ERROR* This program tried a shell command that didn't run correctly. The command was mkdir reaver_cache/empty and returned exit code 255 . Sorry, but this program is very sick and probably should be killed off. This happened at line 1080 of file /home/jon/.crm114/mailreaver.crm The line was: -- syscall () () /mkdir :*:text_cache:\/empty / I'm not sure why the syscall is failing, it does so only sporadically it seems, but that's not the issue I'm reporting here. The problem is, mailreaver.crm doesn't appear to be returning a non-zero exit code, so I can't catch the mails that are failing via procmail. The following recipe works: :0 * ^Subject: eicuhais { :0fw | /bin/false :0 e $HOME/Maildir/to-filter/ } (eicuhais is just a token from pwgen to test this with) The following does not: :0fw: $HOME/.crm114/crm114.procmail.lock | $HOME/.crm114/mailreaver.crm -u $HOME/.crm114/ :0 e $HOME/Maildir/to-filter/ [EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ gunzip -c /usr/share/doc/crm114/examples/mailreaver.crm.gz | md5sum - c60f5d6ab9f344b7545ad534a6ea29a1 - [EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ md5sum .crm114/mailreaver.crm c60f5d6ab9f344b7545ad534a6ea29a1 .crm114/mailreaver.crm -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe. Bug#463123: e2fsprogs: grub 0.97 cannot boot ext3 filesystems with an inode size of 256 byte
On Tue, Jan 29, 2008 at 06:24:09PM +0100, Stefan Lippers-Hollmann wrote: ext3 filesystems with an inode size of 256 byte cannot be read by the read-only file system code of debian's/ upstream's grub 0.97 (e2fs_stage1_5 can't be loaded). Given that e2fsprogs 1.40.5-1 has started to use 256 byte inodes on default, creating new filesystems without explicitly decreasing the inode size creates filesystems which aren't bootable by current grub versions. It is highly desirable that new filesystems use 256 byte inodes, since it provides for better forward compatibility with ext4, and it speeds up extended attribute storage for systems that use SELinux and/or Samba4. If the grub maintainers can't figure out a way to break up the monolithic patch quickly, or to get it incorporated into Debian, or get it upstreamed ASAP, one of the things that I could do is change mke2fs.conf in the udeb file, so that it doesn't impact the Debian installer. Or better yet, the Anaconda could be hacked so that -I 128 is passed to mke2fs just for the root filesystem, and not for others. But it really would be DoublePlusCool if we could get the 256 byte inode support into Grub quickly, so we don't need to pursue these workarounds. If the grub folks could let me know what they think can be pulled off, I would really appreciate it. Thanks - Ted -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe. Trouble? Hi, You already have 1.3.5-1 installed, and upgrading to 1.3.5-1+b1. The question you have raised is that is the newly discovered bug filed against 1.3.5-1 and not yet fixed by 1.3.5-1+b1 relevant to your upgrade to 1.3.5-1+b1 ? If you've seen the bug report in the past, you won't see it again. Ah, OK. So the question is, if there is a bug which is relevant to the current version AND the new version, should you know about it. Yes, you should. That wasn't the question I was asking. I was asking whether you should be asked whether you want to abort the upgrade as a result. Hmmm ? Let me get this straight. If you want to know if the new upgrade will break the system, you probably want the option to abort the installation. You are given an option here. On Jan 29, 2008 1:20 PM, Bram Senders [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: On Tue, 2008-01-29 at 17:58 +0100, Brice Goglin wrote: Bram Senders wrote: The following versions all exhibit the same problem: 1:6.7.198~git20080117.6bd510a2-1 1:6.7.198~git20080109.10e7636c-1 1:6.7.198~git20080102.30cab1db-1 1:6.7.198~git20080101.f65374f5-1 I then tried version 1:6.7.198~git20071221.be7f8fd3-1, but this one has the old bug #457563 again, where the freeze already occurs on startup, and trying AGPMode 4 or BusType PCI then still causes a freeze on startup. So I cannot use this version... I assume earlier versions have the same bug? No, I think #457563 appeared in 6.7.197 and was not in 6.7.196 or earlier. Okay, after some experimenting I have found that 1:6.6.193-2 is the newest version which doesn't cause the lockups, and the version after that, 1:6.7.191-1, causes the system to freeze -- either by stopping X or by starting a second one. So something went wrong from 1:6.6.193-2 to 1:6.7.191-1. How do I debug this further? You could try git bisect to track down the change that caused the problem. Unfortunately, the changes between 6.6.19x and 6.7.19x are substantial (much of the driver was restructured) and it may be hard to track down. Bug#390546: ready for libsylph package
Hi, I saw your ITP, but once it was closed automatically, you reopened it and 3 months passed. You're so busy, probably. Anyway I've done with packaging libsylph :-) You can get it from http://mentors.debian.net/debian/pool/main/l/libsylph/libsylph_1.0.0-1.dsc I know you are DD and maitainer of sylpheed and its releated packages for a long time, so if you want to maintain libsylph package, it's Okay for me. If the package I've made will be helpful for you, I am so glad :) Please consider my proposal. Thanks. -- Regards, Hideki Yamane pgp5NdwT1XNKM.pgp Description: PGP signature
Bug#463238: evolution-data-server: IMAP INBOX capitalization error
Package: evolution-data-server Version: 1.12.3-1 Severity: important Using evolution offline mode does not work with AOL.de. I assume that the reason is that they have an Inbox while evolution prefers INBOX. When starting up offline, INBOX is not found in .ev-store-summary (called from camel-store-imap.c:2071) and thus an error message appears No such folder INBOX. For other imap servers sending INBOX, this problem does not appear, and it also disappears for AOL.de if one replaces Inbox by INBOX in .ev-store-summary manually; but I cannot estimate if this manual change might introduce other problems. Maybe only the lines 2068--2071 in camel-imap-store.c (funtion get_folder_offline) need to be re-ordered? I did not test this as I have little motivation to recompile evolution-data-server. Anyway I think it is better if somebody familiar with libcamel looks into this and fixes the problem soon!
