Bug#463515: mysql-server-5.0: Replication relaylog corruption (fixed upstream)
Am Donnerstag, den 31.01.2008, 23:38 -0800 schrieb Brandon L Black: I don't believe this problem affects normal single-server mysql installations, which is why I rated it as normal, but for people who are doing wide-area replication with large amounts of traffic, this is a very serious problem that we've been impatiently waiting for MySQL to fix for a while now, and a backport into etch would be much appreciated. Very simple patch, so I don't see a problem with fixing it in etch (and of course unstable as well). I added it to my TODO list. Bug#463400: vmware-package: generated kernel source package uses erroneous control file

The modules are compiled but never included in a package. There is a file control.modules.in that seems aimed at precisely this. I added one line seen in the patch which fixed this particular problem. Hello, Can you please send me a complete shell transcript of a faulty modules package build on your system? Sure. Not that I expect the vmware-kernel-source package to allow me to build a package with the compiled modules, not only use module assistant. I may want to use them on another computer etc. Second, note the invocation of emacs on rules near the beginning. What I do is change the line dh_builddeb --destdir=$(DEB_DESTDIR) to dh_builddeb --destdir=/home/abel/test otherwise the package-build fails with an error (inserted at the end of the mail). Bug#463520: statcvs should move away from contrib
Package: statcvs Version: 1:0.3.dfsg-1 Severity: important This bug is a reminder of what needs to be done. In principle, statcvs does not depend on any features found in proprietary JVMs, so it should not depend on Sun's. I had the same problem and it was solved when i unplugged the wacom volito usb device. I wouldn't call this solved Alternatively you may remove the wacom-related configuration options from xorg.conf. Bug#463527: nsd3: superfluous documentation
Package: nsd3 Version: 3.0.7-2 Severity: minor Hi Pierre, Viewing /usr/share/doc/nsd3, I think there's quite some stuff there that just clutters things and is not appropriate or necessary: coding-style: documentation for developers, this may be more appropriate for the source package. contrib/nsd.spec.gz: RPM spec is not relevant for Debian. difference.tex.gz: this is the source file for the already shipped difference.pdf, so doesn't need to be installed. difference.pdf.gz: gzip compression for pdf should not be necessary (PDF has support for native compression) and makes it more difficult to open it in standard PDF viewers. README.icc: instructions for the Intel C Compiler which we do not ship, also not so relevant for a Debian binary package which is already built. REAMDE.svn: instructions to build from SVN, see above. TESTPLAN.gz: looks like developer documentation to me. bye, Thijs

Bug#463538: apt-get: breaks erlang-based services (ejabberd, yaws) in postinst
Package: apt Version: 0.7.7 Hi! Looks like changes in in apt-pkg/deb/dpkgpm.h and apt-pkg/deb/dpkgpm.cc from 0.7.6 to 0.7.7 breaks ejabberd and yaws start from postinst scripts. Specifically: when I run 'apt-get install ejabberd' or 'apt-get install --reinstall ejabberd' (with apt 0.7.7 and newer) it reports: Preconfiguring packages ... (Reading database ... 14821 files and directories currently installed.) Preparing to replace ejabberd 1.1.4-5 (using .../ejabberd_1.1.4-5_i386.deb) ... Stopping jabber server: ejabberd already stopped. Unpacking replacement ejabberd ... Setting up ejabberd (1.1.4-5) ... Starting jabber server: ejabberd. Which is fine. But after apt-get finishes the work, ejabberd daemon disappears: # ps xa|grep ejabberd 26467 pts/0S+ 0:00 grep ejabberd Using apt 0.7.6 and older, I get the same output from apt but: # ps xa|grep ejabberd 26499 pts/0Rl 0:01 /usr/lib/erlang/erts-5.5.5/bin/beam -- -root /usr/lib/erlang -progname erl -- -home /var/lib/ejabberd -sname ejabberd -pa /usr/lib/ejabberd/ebin -s ejabberd -kernel inetrc /etc/ejabberd/inetrc -ejabberd config /etc/ejabberd/ejabberd.cfg log_path /var/log/ejabberd/ejabberd.log -sasl sasl_error_logger {file,/var/log/ejabberd/sasl.log} -mnesia dir /var/lib/ejabberd -noshell -noshell -noinput 26506 pts/0S+ 0:00 grep ejabberd Which means ejabberd is running. The same successful result I get if simply use dpkg instead of apt-get. aptitude works similar to apt-get. I suspect that apt doesn't like the way erlang detaches from a controlling terminal. When I rolled back changes in apt-pkg/deb/dpkgpm.h and apt-pkg/deb/dpkgpm.cc apt-get 0.7.7 became working again. -- Sergei Golovan -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe. Bug#463228: error spawning sub-processes (returning 255)
Would you try the current version of crm114 in Debian (it's available in etch-backports too)? I can see there is some bugfix about syscall in the newer version. Just beware your .css files may or may not work (depending on your architecture) with the new version. Anyway it can be a problem specific to your system. I'm not sure whether the problem is that the `syscall' call fails itself or whether the command called by syscall fails. In the latter case you might replace `mkdir' with a wrapper script that would log somewhere what's happening. I have made a couple of tests, and I seem to be able to find the text in the document, even the words appearing in the last pages, so it seems that most, if not all, the indexing is actually performed. Perhaps the error is produced at the end of the document? In any case, that sounds like a ghostscript bug... I looked at this some more, and the problem seems to be a badly formed Postscript file, /usr/share/doc/gcc-4.2-base/libstdc++/html_user/_form0.ps. I cannot display that file with gv, and running pstotext by hand produces the same error. I don't think it is a dhelp bug, it should probably be assigned to libstdc++6-4.2-doc. Ah, great! Bug#463358: dirmngr: ldap_init() implicitly converted to pointer
On Thu, 31 Jan 2008 16:28, [EMAIL PROTECTED] said: now. ldap.h used to globally expose these functions. ldap.h has begun deprecating old functions, requiring packages to explicitly define LDAP_DEPRECATED to use them. This seems to be a pretty common practice. .. for OpenLDAP. We had quite a couple of breakage in the past with OpenLDAP. Anyway I checked gpg (ldap keyservers) and there we actually did it already: 2006-03-27 David Shaw [EMAIL PROTECTED] * gpgkeys_ldap.c: #define LDAP_DEPRECATED for newer OpenLDAPs so they use the regular old API that is compatible with other LDAP libraries. It is a pitty that this change has been made without broader discussions. LDAP is one of the few protocols with a well defined API which works for 15 years or even longer. fyi, I don't have anything to do with the ldap API. I just check for this class of build problems (which are non-ldap specific) since they are almost guaranteed to cause pkgs to crash on certain architectures. Right. That is the reasons why I consider dropping a prototype a Bad Thing. If they want to force us using another API, they should require linking to another library or use gcc's deprecated attribute. Not all compilers spit out warnigns for missing prototypes or too many false one so one can't expect a user to diligently look at them all. I'll change that for Dirmngr. Bug#463561: iceowl should not ask for auth of disabled calendars
Package: iceowl Version: 0.7-2 Severity: minor firstly: in the left part of the gui there's a tab calendars. the leftmost column of this tabs features checkboxes -- i presume those checkboxes are intended to disable the calender of this row. now the problem: albeit i disable the calendar, iceowl still requires me to give username and password for this calendar two or three times before giving up with an error window. if a calendar is disabled it should be ignored completely. -- System Information: Debian Release: lenny/sid APT prefers unstable APT policy: (500, 'unstable') Architecture: i386 (i686) Kernel: Linux 2.6.23.1 (SMP w/2 CPU cores; PREEMPT) Locale: LANG=en_US.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=en_US.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/bash Versions of packages iceowl depends on: ii debianutils2.28.2Miscellaneous utilities specific t ii fontconfig 2.5.0-2 generic font configuration library ii libatk1.0-01.20.0-1 The ATK accessibility toolkit ii libc6 2.7-6 GNU C Library: Shared libraries ii libcairo2 1.4.14-1 The Cairo 2D vector graphics libra ii libfontconfig1 2.5.0-2 generic font configuration library ii libfreetype6 2.3.5-1+b1FreeType 2 font engine, shared lib ii libgcc11:4.3-20080127-1 GCC support library ii libglib2.0-0 2.14.5-2 The GLib library of C routines ii libgtk2.0-02.12.7-1 The GTK+ graphical user interface ii libjpeg62 6b-14 The Independent JPEG Group's JPEG ii libnspr4-0d4.7.0~1.9b1-2 NetScape Portable Runtime Library ii libnss3-1d 3.12.0~1.9b1-2Network Security Service libraries ii libpango1.0-0 1.18.4-1 Layout and rendering of internatio ii libstdc++6 4.3-20080127-1The GNU Standard C++ Library v3 ii libx11-6 2:1.0.3-7 X11 client-side library ii libxft22.1.12-2 FreeType-based font drawing librar ii libxrender11:0.9.4-1 X Rendering Extension client libra ii libxt6 1:1.0.5-3 X11 toolkit intrinsics library ii psmisc 22.6-1Utilities that use the proc filesy ii zlib1g 1:1.2.3.3.dfsg-11 compression library - runtime iceowl recommends no packages. -- no debconf information

Bug#462588: Fails to start slapd ldaps:/// on upgrade
I confirm that ldpas broke after upgrade. This is the workaround in my case: 1) Commented out TLSCipherSuite from /etc/ldap/slapd.conf so it picks-up the defaults. 2) Changed TLS_REQCERT from allow to never into /etc/ldap/ldap.conf. The clients connect to a name which is different from the commonName stated into the self signed certificate. However this is strange beacuse LDAP.CONF(5) states that TLS_REQCERT allow means: The server certificate is requested. If no certificate is provided, the session proceeds normally. If a bad certificate is provided, it will be ignored and the session proceeds normally. But the session does not proceeds normally, even if I add a subjectAltName into the certificate. -- Niccolo Rigacci Firenze - Italy -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe. Bug#426581: meshlab - anyone still working on this
On Jan 29, 2008 6:42 PM, Paolo Cignoni [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: Hi to all, With the new release 1.1.0 i have prepared, as you requested, a tarball with (hopefully) all the needed sources (including vcg) it is available at sourceforge at http://downloads.sourceforge.net/meshlab/MeshLabSrc_v110.tgz Great! This makes packaging really much easier. I remade my packaging branch at https://code.launchpad.net/meshlab to use the new release. I think the package is now close to being good enough to upload to the archive, the only obstacle is the obsolete lib3ds-dev in Debian. That just requires someone to NMU it since the changes needed to build the new version are really small, and given in a patch at bug #463108. For people who want to test the package without using bzr, the source package is also at http://esko.osmas.info/~tmx/meshlab/ Remember to use version 1.3.0 of lib3ds. In order to get the package uploaded, I would need a sponsor / co-maintainer. Any volunteers? As for the meshlab release, I found a couple of small issues that should be fixed upstream (but are now patched in the Debian source): - ui_painttoolbox.h is not created during build - build fails due to private variable access in one of the plugins, see attached patch Teemu Once untarred it should contain most of the needed libs. The only depending stuff that should be managed by hand is the lib3ds, for which we need the 1.3 version I have set up a page of the documentation explaining what is needed and how to compile http://meshlab.sourceforge.net/wiki/index.php/Compiling Let me know if i can help in some way p. === modified file 'meshlab/src/meshlabplugins/render_rm/glstateholder.h' --- meshlab/src/meshlabplugins/render_rm/glstateholder.h 2008-01-30 15:46:19 + +++ meshlab/src/meshlabplugins/render_rm/glstateholder.h 2008-01-31 15:09:44 + @@ -160,7 +160,7 @@ class GLStateHolder : public QObject { Q_OBJECT - +friend class RmMeshShaderRenderPlugin; // private data members private:
