Bug#473589: fvwm: Recapture/RecaptureWindow can be workaround
My workaround using RecaptureWindow: DestroyFunc StartGkrellm AddToFunc StartGkrellm + I Exec exec gkrellm -g -0+0 + I Wait gkrellm + I Schedule 200 All ( gkrellm ) RecaptureWindow Recapture delay 200ms is sufficient for me, maybe someone need a greater value. Please report this upstream as manpage requires: Recapture This command is obsolete and should not be used anymore. Should you want to do something specific that you cannot do without it, please report this to the fvwm-workers mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED]. This command may be removed at some point in the future. Please read the note at the end of the section Delayed Execution of Commands to learn about how to avoid the Recapture command. Causes fvwm to recapture all of its windows. This ensures that the latest style parameters are used. The recapture operation is visually disturbing. Since fvwm version 2.4 only a very few Style options need a Recapture to take effect (e.g. UseStyle). Thanks -- Zito -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe. Bug#472567: Please upload a fix for this release goal issue
Hi Petter, Petter Reinholdtsen wrote: Hi. I am tracking the release goal for dependency based boot sequencing, and this bug is one of the few remaining ones related to this goal. Any hope of having a fixed version uploaded soon? I'm preparing the upload now, I'm also merging http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=473480 which adds a bitlbee-dev. There's just one thing I want to add (a correctly versioned dependency on the main bitlbee package) and then it should be ready. Give it a few days. I hope that's fast enough. Bug#433846: Announce of the upcoming NMU for the interchange package
(PLEASE, now don't upload without leaving time for translators to catch up...I know you have pending work, but I can't wait for ages for this package while I have dozens of other packages in the radar) Dear maintainer of interchange and Debian translators, Some days ago, I sent a notice to the maintainer of the interchange Debian package, mentioning the status of at least one old po-debconf translation update in the BTS. I announced the intent to build and possibly upload a non-maintainer upload for this package in order to fix this long-time pending localization bug as well as all other pending translations. The package maintainer agreed for the NMU or did not respond in two weeks, so I will proceed with the NMU. The full planned schedule is available at the end of this mail. The package is currently translated to: cs de fi fr pt ru vi Among these, the following translations are incomplete: cs de pt vi If you did any of the, currently incomplete, translations you will get ANOTHER mail with the translation to update. Other translators also have the opportunity to create new translations for this package. Once completed, please send them as a bug report against the interchange package so I can incorporate them in the build. The deadline for receiving updates and new translations is Friday, May 16, 2008. If you are not in time you can always send your translation to the BTS. The POT file is attached to this mail. If the maintainer objects to this process I will immediately abort my NMU and send him/her all updates I receive. Otherwise the following will happen (or already has): Saturday, March 15, 2008 : send the first intent to NMU notice to the package maintainer. Twas brillig at 06:18:20 06.05.2008 UTC+03 when Toni Gundogdu did gyre and gimble: TG Is the python2.5 package installed with the sqlite3 module? Yes, and as python2.5 is now default python version in unstable, dependencies are correct. TG Is not the reason. There must be something wrong in src/clive/cache.py: TG Cache::_upgrade_if_needed method. TG Unfortunately I haven't been able to reproduce this bug yet, so TG until the culprit is found, the quick fix is to remove the cache TG file manually or disable the caching altogether. Won't you object if I temporarily add a kludge to Debian package which removes cache file instead of upgrading it? Hi, On Tue, 06 May 2008, Jaap Karssenberg wrote: On Tue, May 6, 2008 at 12:11 AM, Raphael Hertzog [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: 1/ In the list of notebooks that appear when you right click on the applet, please use the names given at creation time (those displayed in the open notebook window) and not the name of the directory where the notebook is stored. The directory tends to have generic names like zim or notes and aren't meaningful at all... The name should shown with the current version, if it shows the directory the name is not known. However the name that is used is from the notebook config, not from the list used by the notebook dialog. In theory those two should be in sync, but when either one was generated with an older version of zim this might not be the case. Please check the properties dialog to see if a notebook name is set there. The properties dialog indeed listed an empty name. I put a name there and it worked. So this looks like an upgrade bug, maybe you can add a check to reset the name to the previous setting if it's empty ? Bug#479681: perl: Locale::Gettext should be part of the core modules
Package: perl Version: 5.10.0-9 Severity: wishlist Locale::Gettext is used by many scripts/modules to provide localized strings to the user. Those scripts are used in package configuration scripts (postinst, preinst, postrm, prerm, config) and they should always work when possible... even when perl is being upgraded to a new perl with an incompatible XS ABI. To offer such a guaranty, the nicest solution is to provide the module in the same package than the perl binary itself. Hence it should become part of perl-base in Debian and should be part of core modules at the upstream level. Please discuss this on p5p with upstream and if they agree to do it for the next upstream release, please consider doing it right now as a temporary fork so that we can see if it helps with the upgrade problems described in http://bugs.debian.org/479220 -- System Information: Debian Release: lenny/sid APT prefers unstable APT policy: (500, 'unstable'), (500, 'testing'), (500, 'stable'), (1, 'experimental') Architecture: i386 (i686) Kernel: Linux 2.6.24-1-686 (SMP w/1 CPU core) Locale: LANG=fr_FR.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=fr_FR.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/bash Versions of packages perl depends on: ii libc6 2.7-10 GNU C Library: Shared libraries ii libdb4.6 4.6.21-8 Berkeley v4.6 Database Libraries [ ii libgdbm3 1.8.3-3GNU dbm database routines (runtime ii perl-base 5.10.0-9 The Pathologically Eclectic Rubbis ii perl-modules 5.10.0-9 Core Perl modules Versions of packages perl recommends: ii netbase 4.32 Basic TCP/IP networking system ii perl-doc 5.10.0-9 Perl documentation -- no debconf information -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe. Fixing the eval/dlopen interaction in perl is out of the question because this is happening when the old perl-base version is still installed. Any help and ideas welcome. I would suggest integrating liblocale-gettext-perl to perl-base. Maybe that should be suggested upstream? IMO deviating from the upstream core module list should only be a very last resort, and this should be fixable in another way. That said, getting Locale::gettext into the core upstream might be a worthy goal; please file a wishlist bug with some rationale if you care about it. I think it makes sense in the long term at least. So I will submit the bug report and hopefully you can bring up the discussion on p5p. I think making liblocale-gettext-perl Pre-Depend on ${perl:Depends} would fix this particular issue, but I'm worried that it's not the only one. The other two XS modules that debconf-i18n depends on, libtext-iconv-perl and libtext-charwidth-perl, come to mind first. Indeed. CCing debian-devel to see if we have other solutions to avoid the pre-dependency. What's stopping the prerm of a random package invoking a perl script on upgrades that needs yet another XS module package? If the script does the 'eval use ...' thing, the package won't even be listed as a dependency. How can we detect these short of waiting for bug reports? Is there a more general way of solving this? Another solution is to make sure that the eval construct copes well with XS modules linked for another perl (ie if they fail at dlopen()). I don't see a reason why this couldn't be a run-time failure like another one... That would be the general solution. Bug#479682: cryptmount: Clarification for Debconf string needed
Package: cryptmount Version: 2.1-1 Severity: minor Tags: l10n Hello, during the discussion of the German translation of your Debconf template I came accross the following line: #: cryptmount.c:453 #, c-format msgid only user-%lu can unmount \%s\\n It is unclear whether the »user-« part is also part of the user id or only the replaced part (%lu). After checking the French translation and having a (very) short look into the source code, I'm of the opinion that only the part after the hyphen is the actual uid, but it is not clear. If the whole thing would be the uid, then I shouldn't translate the »user-«. If only the part after the hyphen is the actual uid, then I should (and can) translate it (in which case I would get rid of the hyphen). Please add a comment for translators or change the string to make it more clear what is meant (e.g. by adding quotes). Thank you in advance. Bug#479685: Crappy descriptions, useless changelog entries, no manpages
Package: skytools Version: 2.1.6-1 Severity: serious Justification: unfinished packaging :( Few immediate problems with this package. For starters, the changelog is just no good. http://www.debian.org/doc/developers-reference/ch-best-pkging-practices.en.html#s-bpp-debian-changelog Second, it is NOT ok to just dump a bunch of overrides for lintian warnigs and errors to make them go away. What seem to be the main binaries have no manpages. At least remove the lintian overrides. If there is any documentation in /usr/share/doc/skytools but since there isn't, then add some manpages. It is easy. You can just make them from templates. Do that at least for the main binaries. Finally, the package descriptions are just not up to par. Please correct this. For example, a description may read, Description: Skytools modules for PostgreSQL database Additional PostgreSQL included for use with skytools include, . * txid - 8-byte transaction id's * logtriga - Trigger function to log change in SQL format * logutriga - Trigger function to log change in urlencoded format * londiste - Database parts of replication engine * pgq - Generic queue in database Of course my description is not exactly perfect either, but things to remember is * format lists by prepending them with * character * short description should indicate the content of the package * the list item descriptions are too generic. For example, what is the Generic queue in database or Database parts of replication engine? Are these even usable separately from the skytools package? The skytools package short description may be improved by removing the Python parts as it is not needed. Also, formating the list properly would help as well as filling in the blanks (I have no idea what the package does from description) Description: Skype database tools Skytools are database utilities used by Skype for blah (not sure what it actually does) . * londiste - replication (of what?) * pgqadm - generic event queue (??)) * walmgr - failover server scripts (what server? Skype server?) Again, the description is not written clearly. If this was just description, this would be a minor bug but considering this package is so small, and there is so many mistakes and unfinished packaging work, the package really needs some work before it is allowed to Lenny. - Adam -- System Information: Debian Release: lenny/sid APT prefers unstable APT policy: (900, 'unstable'), (5, 'experimental') Architecture: i386 (i686) Kernel: Linux 2.6.25-1-686 (SMP w/2 CPU cores) Locale: LANG=en_US.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=en_US.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/bash -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe. Bug#467421: [Pkg-alsa-devel] Bug#467421: Processed: Re: Bug#467421: alsa-source: FTBFS timer.c
On Mon, 05 May 2008 the mental interface of David Witbrodt told: Hope I'm not interfering too much by throwing in my 2 cents, but here goes [...] from my testing alsa-source 1.0.16-1.1 fails to build with linux-2.6 2.6.25-1. Same goes for the 1.0.16 tarball from alsa-project.org and a pristine 2.6.25.1 filippo I believe Elimar was trying to say that new 'alsa-source' packages are being prepared which _will_ compile OK with 2.6.25* kernels; Indeed ;) and he is saying that kernel 2.6.25 itself is packaged with ALSA 1.0.16-rc2, but that means building ALSA _into_ the kernel and _not_ using ALSA in the form of kernel modules. Can be build as modules as well! If I am not mistaken there has been an API change and versions of ALSA released before kernel 2.6.25 was released will not build with kernel 2.6.25 (without patches, and I don't know if anyone has prepared such patches). I am in the habit of replacing the ALSA sources in the kernel tree with newer sources obtained directly from alsa-project.org; when I built 2.6.25 for the first time this past weekend I found that the last stable release of ALSA (1.0.16) would not work with it, though it works fine with kernel 2.6.24. ftp://ftp.alsa-project.org/pub/kernel-patches/alsa-git-2008-04-24.patch.gz When I had built 2.6.24 for the first time, I had made a mistake using Mercurial and had obtained a post-1.0.16 version of ALSA to replace the kernel sources, and found that even 2.6.24 would not build because they immediately changed the API to support features only available in the upcoming 2.6.25 kernel. I quickly checked out the correct ALSA sources for the official ALSA 1.0.16 release, and that build with 2.6.24 OK. Debian uses vanilla alsa-drive 1.0.16 as well. The 2.6.25 kernel has been packaged with a version of ALSA slightly older than 1.0.16 (the 1.0.16-rc2 version in the kernel is a few days older), and it has been patched to work correctly. But all of the available Debian packages for building ALSA modules were designed for kernels before 2.6.25... though Elimar mentioned that new 'alsa-source' packages compatible with 2.6.25 are coming soon. 2.6.26-rc1 comes with 1.0.16. You have these options: 1) Just build kernel 2.6.25 with the ALSA sources provided with it. Those are nearly identical to the official ALSA 1.0.16 release, anyway. will be 1.0.16rc2 2) Use Mercurial to obtain 'alsa-kernel' sources directly from alsa-project.org, like I do. These have no real version number to speak of, and are several months newer than the official 1.0.16 ALSA release. You can build ALSA directly into the kernel or as loadable modules this way, but if you build them as modules you will not have nice DEBs that can be installed, uninstalled, reinstalled, etc. (This presents no problem that I know of, however.) ftp://ftp.suse.com/pub/projects/alsa/snapshot/driver/alsa-driver-hg20080506.tar.bz2 3) Wait for the Debian ALSA Maintainers to provide new 'alsa-source' packages before moving to the 2.6.25 kernel. Please be patient. We're on the way ;) Elimar -- We all know Linux is great... it does infinite loops in 5 seconds. -- Linus Torvalds signature.asc Description: Digital signature

Bug#479690: cyrus-sasl2 wishlist
Package: cyrus-sasl2 Version: 2.1.22.dfsg1-19 Severity: wishlist Shortdescription: Patch fixes NTLM authentication bug introduced with Outlook 2007 (where digest-md5 also fails), when connecting to any sasl enabled system with realm support, where username is matched against [EMAIL PROTECTED] in any sasl backend ([EMAIL PROTECTED] via postfix, cyrus-imapd, courier, etc...). Bugdescription: Outlook Express, Outlook 2000, 2003, XP using the following method (which is covered by cyrus-sasl2 2.1.22). First ntlm request username and client domain (where the client domain is the workgroup/domain of the windows workstation), and if that fails the second ntlm request without client domain, but with a fully qualified email address [EMAIL PROTECTED] Outlook 2007 uses a different way: it directly sends in the first ntlm request: client user: username and client domain: maildomain.tld. There is no fallback mechanism, and therefore this fails in sasl2 with username not found Solution: This patch adds the logic to distinguish between the old method and the new method and supports both. The new logic is: if there is a client domain available, build a fully qualified username and send it to the sasl backend for verification (this works for Outlook 2007, the older versions fail here). If there is no client domain, send the handed over username for verification (which is then the fully qualified username, handed over by the older Outlook versions). -- kind regards Christoph Christ Head of Development/Research MCP-Softworks s.r.o., Freiungsstrasse 8/1, A-2410 Hainburg an der Donau Tel: +43-664-9307044, Fax: +43-664-779307044 http://www.mcpsoftworks.com -- This message has been scanned for viruses and dangerous content by MailScanner, and is believed to be clean. diff -urNp cyrus-sasl-2.1.22/plugins/ntlm.c cyrus-sasl-2.1.22-patch/plugins/ntlm.c --- cyrus-sasl-2.1.22/plugins/ntlm.c2005-07-07 18:10:14.0 +0200 +++ cyrus-sasl-2.1.22-patch/plugins/ntlm.c 2008-05-04 14:56:54.0 +0200 @@ -1525,14 +1525,46 @@ static int ntlm_server_mech_step2(server struct propval auxprop_values[2]; unsigned char hash[NTLM_HASH_LENGTH]; unsigned char resp[NTLM_RESP_LENGTH]; + + unsigned char *combined_username = NULL; /* fetch user's password */ result = sparams-utils-prop_request(sparams-propctx, password_request); if (result != SASL_OK) goto cleanup; - /* this will trigger the getting of the aux properties */ - result = sparams-canon_user(sparams-utils-conn, authid, authid_len, + /// + // patch by [EMAIL PROTECTED] + // rights: GPL + // older pop3, imap, smtp ntlm clients are sending first + // client-user: usernamex + // client-domain: NTDOMAIN/WORKGROUP + // and if thats denied by us, they retry with + // client-user: [EMAIL PROTECTED] + // without a client domain + // outlook 2007 changed that behaviour to support properly + // also other mail servers. Bug#479612: spandsp ABI SONAME
It has come to our (the Debian VoIP team) attention[1] that spandsp 0.0.4pre18 broke the ABI while keeping the same SONAME libspandsp.so.0.0.2. Every application compiled using a previous version crashes right now. It's also possible that spandsp 0.0.5pre2 also breaks the ABI (vs 0.0.4pre18) but I haven't checked, yet. I've tried evaluating the ABI-changing changes but gave up after a while :) It didn't seem anything too extreme that can't be fixed. However, it seems like it was your intention to break the ABI. If that's the case, why didn't you bump the SONAME? In fact, I don't understand why your SONAME is stuck at 0.0.2 while you obviously have released many versions since then. We could (and probably will) bump it ourselves but that has the risk of clashing with you if you change your mind at a later point. So we'd be force to name our version e.g. libspandsp.so.0.0.2deb1, which is suboptimal as you may imagine. So, in summary, Would you change your SONAME to libspandsp.so.0.0.5? Or even libspandsp.so.5 :) Also, can you be extra-careful in the future to not do ABI-incompatible changes? Bug#479692: texmaker: Documentation in wrong place
Package: texmaker Version: 1.6-1 Severity: minor Hi, the documentation files are currently placed at /usr/share/texmaker/latexhelp.html /usr/share/texmaker/usermanual_en.html /usr/share/texmaker/usermanual_fr.html which is not a very good decision, because it is not available from /usr/share/doc/texmaker/html which only features images and a css file which is confusing for users who are looking for some documentation first. My guess is that the texmaker binary is seeking for this documents in /usr/share/texmaker/ but this should be handled via symlinks to /usr/share/doc/texmaker/html. Moreover the *.png images are duplicated in /usr/share/doc/texmaker/html and /usr/share/texmaker - symlinks are the solution here as well. Adding GPL'd code to Cyrus SASL would require distributing the Cyrus SASL library under the GPL, which then means that it cannot be linked with any other project that's under a GPL-incompatible license, which is pretty much a non-starter. Perhaps the patch author didn't really mean that. Bug#479696: bugfix patch for ntlm auth against outlook 2007 2nd try
If there is no client domain, send the handed over username for verification (which is then the fully qualified username, handed over by the older Outlook versions). license: The patch is under the same license as the patched program, i.e. cyrus-sasl2 -- kind regards Christoph Christ Head of Development/Research MCP-Softworks s.r.o., Freiungsstrasse 8/1, A-2410 Hainburg an der Donau Tel: +43-664-9307044, Fax: +43-664-779307044 http://www.mcpsoftworks.com -- This message has been scanned for viruses and dangerous content by MailScanner, and is believed to be clean. diff -urNp cyrus-sasl-2.1.22/plugins/ntlm.c cyrus-sasl-2.1.22-patch/plugins/ntlm.c --- cyrus-sasl-2.1.22/plugins/ntlm.c2005-07-07 18:10:14.0 +0200 +++ cyrus-sasl-2.1.22-patch/plugins/ntlm.c 2008-05-06 11:38:34.0 +0200 @@ -1525,14 +1525,45 @@ static int ntlm_server_mech_step2(server struct propval auxprop_values[2]; unsigned char hash[NTLM_HASH_LENGTH]; unsigned char resp[NTLM_RESP_LENGTH]; + + unsigned char *combined_username = NULL; /* fetch user's password */ result = sparams-utils-prop_request(sparams-propctx, password_request); if (result != SASL_OK) goto cleanup; - /* this will trigger the getting of the aux properties */ - result = sparams-canon_user(sparams-utils-conn, authid, authid_len, + /// + // patch by [EMAIL PROTECTED] + // older pop3, imap, smtp ntlm clients are sending first + // client-user: usernamex + // client-domain: NTDOMAIN/WORKGROUP + // and if thats denied by us, they retry with + // client-user: [EMAIL PROTECTED] + // without a client domain + // outlook 2007 changed that behaviour to support properly + // also other mail servers. I don't have anything against them helping, but I don't think we agree on how to package Wine. For example, I (and some people who agree with me for some reason) think the package should be split (like other big packages in Debian) with each subpackage having strict dependencies, while Scott thinks it's better to make it one big package, with each Wine component working or failing (gracefully) according to what dependencies the user happen to have installed. Bug#478795: fixed via changes to file system mount options
Okay, so I checked this with the previous git-core version 1:1.5.5-1, which ended up having the same problem. So, given that it was previously working with that version, I wondered if something else had changed in relation to this. Not quite sure what this change was, but I noticed that there was a case sensitivity mount option for vfat (shortname=mixed). I suspect that the problem I observed was a change in the default mount options, resulting in git breakage. Putting in this option into /etc/fstab ended up fixing my problem. ~$ cat /proc/mounts /dev/sda6 /itsshared vfat rw,nosuid,nodev,uid=1000,gid=1000,fmask=,dmask=,codepage=cp437,iocharset=utf8,shortname=mixed 0 0 ~$ cd /itsshared/ /itsshared$ mkdir git-test /itsshared$ cd git-test /itsshared/git-test$ git-init Initialized empty Git repository in .git/ /itsshared/git-test$ ls .git HEAD branches config description hooks info objects refs /itsshared/git-test$ git-ls-files echo 'cake!' cake! so, this bug should probably be closed as not a 'git-core' problem, or changed to a different package. Anyway, I'm happy now, because git is working again. David Hall (gringer) -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe. Trouble? Contact [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Bug#473135: xfsprogs: mkfs.xfs creates bad features2
According to cvslog [1] mkfs.xfs from xfsprogs 2.9.8-1 now creates filesystems with proper features2 fields. So this bug can be closed. According to cvslog xfs_repair can now deal with that features2 field thing, so it is possible to repair filesystems with this features2 field bug as i tried myself. It's even possible to enable lazy-counters on an existing filesystem now.. Bug#442361: QuickForm PHP Licence makes it undistributable
Hi Yann, Yann Rouillard [EMAIL PROTECTED] (2008-04-25 13:12:41) : Honestly I was a bit discouraged by this licence problem, I only wanted to package Quickform as it was a dependancy of centreon [1]. But lots of pear packages that centreon used suffer from the same licence problem, and convince all these developpers to change licence to be able to distribute their package in debian, it seems to me, is a long and tedious task ! I am not sure the licence problem is that serious as I have found other packages already included in the archive with the same licence, like php-html-common: http://packages.debian.org/changelogs/pool/main/p/php-html-common/php-html-common_1.2.3-2/php-html-common.copyright I didn't have time recently to rework on this and talk with developpers, if you're motivated, you can do it and takeover this ITP. For the moment, I have kept QuickForm included inside my phpMyVisites package (no need and no plans to build a standalone package). But I would be willing to link to your package instead. Would you be interested in comaintenance of the QuickForm package? http://wiki.debian.org/Teams/CollabMaint Best regards, Frédéric Lehobey -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe. Hi, I asked around on the xorg mailing list, interested in this now that gNewSense removed GLX in their latest version. Got some updated information: http://lists.freedesktop.org/archives/xorg/2008-May/035111.html Which was probably all already known, but it's good to have something discussed in the upstream, too. So the problem has been bigger in the past (CID license is not used anymore), and currently the GLX is the problematic part, and not DFSG-free. -Timo -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe. Does it work with an older kernel for you? Or mayby the kernel interface for that changed.. I think it is not linux kernel related because it also fails with linux-image-2.6.24-1-686 and I remember to have the previous tomcat5.5_5.5.25 running. Looking at the logs seems that the installation of tomcat5.5_5.5.26 caused it to stop running anymore, but I can not confirm it. Are you able to run an unmodified tomcat5.5_5.5.26 from unstable? I run 5.5.26-2 (thats the version from unstable plus the classpath fix). It runs without problems here. Bug#479220: perl upgrade fails
clone 479220 -1 retitle -1 perl: eval 'require ...' should survive XS ABI changes severity -1 important found -1 5.8.8-12 submitter -1 ! thanks On Tue, May 06, 2008 at 08:17:49AM +0200, Raphael Hertzog wrote: On Mon, 05 May 2008, Niko Tyni wrote: I think making liblocale-gettext-perl Pre-Depend on ${perl:Depends} would fix this particular issue, but I'm worried that it's not the only one. The other two XS modules that debconf-i18n depends on, libtext-iconv-perl and libtext-charwidth-perl, come to mind first. Indeed. CCing debian-devel to see if we have other solutions to avoid the pre-dependency. Thanks. Right, but it doesn't help for the 5.8 - 5.10 transition, as the problem bites when the old perl-base is still installed. I'm cloning a separate 'important' bug for it - while it would be good to get it fixed for lenny to ease future transitions, I suppose we can release without it if we have to.
