Bug#499106: decibel-audio-player: Please respect filename sorting
Hi, On Wed, Sep 17, 2008 at 02:28, Martín Ferrari [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: I'm attaching two screenshots that'd surely be more clear than my words. In the first one, the most common case, and the one that has a workaround: an album which lacks any Track number information, when double-clicked or selected from the directory drop-down is added in an incomprehensible order. The workaround: to select all the files and then add them. The second one is really bothersome, and it's the case when there's at least one file with track information, and then the bogus order is always obeyed, and the only way around it is to add one by one each file. If I were using some tag-browser plugin I'd understand this, but since this is the file explorer plugin, I'd expect usual filesystem behaviour... While writing this, I started looking around the code and I came up with a patch that works like a charm here. It makes the media class not sort lists of files, and sort directories by filename. I've tested it with two other plugins (the cd player and the tag-based browser) and it doesn't affect them. I'm confident that this wouldn't cause a regression as non-filesystem-tree based plugins directly pass the lists of files in the already correct ordering. Also, this methos is only called to fill in tags, something that obviously won't happen while adding files from a tag based browser. This should be already fixed in v0.11 (see https://bugs.launchpad.net/decibel-audio-player/+bug/211190). When adding files to the playlist, the sort order is artist / album / tracknum / filename, so if there is no track number information, the tracks will be sorted by filenames. -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe. Bug#499230: linux-image-2.6.26-1-amd64: No RTC device created, fails to get/set hardware clock
Package: linux-image-2.6.26-1-amd64 Version: 2.6.26-5 Severity: important When booting the latest Debian kernel (tried 2.6.26-4 and 2.6.26-5) on an HP DL360 G5, no rtc device is created in /dev and the system can not get the hardware clock time at boot and save it at shutdown. Bug#499232: collectd: does not report failure to load plugins on startup
Package: collectd Version: 4.3.0-1 Severity: important Hi, Alexander Krogloth discovered that collectd does not report the failure to load plugins when starting up. This might either be caused by mistyped plugin names or by missing dependencies of that plugin. External dependencies of plugins which are disabled by default are recommended by the collectd package and thus might be missing. The user should be notified about that when starting the daemon to prevent unexpected behavior. Bug#499236: aspell-ru: does not recognise flexional word forms any longer
Package: aspell-ru Version: 0.99g5-4 Severity: grave Justification: renders package unusable I'm sorry for submitting a bug of this severity, but it really makes a package unusable that I depend on a lot. Since the last upgrade, the Russian spell checker recognises only the base form of each word. All the flectioned forms are marked as wrong. Who knows Russian or any other Slavic language will quickly understand, that this makes the package unusable. For instance: земля (zemlia, earth) is recognised as correct, whereas земли, (zemli, the genitive case of the same work) is marked as error. I have tested this with gedit, icedove, evolution, openoffice. They are all affected in the same way. So clearly, there is an issue with the package. -- System Information: Debian Release: lenny/sid APT prefers testing APT policy: (990, 'testing'), (500, 'unstable'), (101, 'experimental') Architecture: i386 (i686) Kernel: Linux 2.6.26-1-686 (SMP w/2 CPU cores) Locale: LANG=de_DE.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=de_DE.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/bash Versions of packages aspell-ru depends on: ii aspell0.60.6-1 GNU Aspell spell-checker ii dictionaries-common 0.98.12Common utilities for spelling dict aspell-ru recommends no packages. aspell-ru suggests no packages. -- no debconf information -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe. Bug#498205: linux-image-2.6.26-1-686: Confirm; some more info
Package: linux-image-2.6.26-1-686 Version: 2.6.26-4 Followup-For: Bug #498205 I have got the same problem but on a Dell Latitude D620, meaning a 32-bit kernel and the internal PS/2 keyboard. The problem for me seems to trigger only sometimes when switching from X back to console. But once it happens, the arrow keys cease to work and no matter how often I do the X-console switch, it doesn't get fixed. The output of 'showkey -k' and 'showkey -s' is the same when the keys work and when they don't. However, 'showkey -m' doesn't show anything when things are broken, indicating a problem with the keymap, but trying to reload the keymap with 'loadkeys' has no effect. -- Package-specific info: ** Version: Linux version 2.6.26-1-686 (Debian 2.6.26-4) ([EMAIL PROTECTED]) (gcc version 4.1.3 20080623 (prerelease) (Debian 4.1.2-23)) #1 SMP Thu Aug 28 12:00:54 UTC 2008 ** Command line: root=/dev/sda2 ro vga=0x317 ** Not tainted ** Kernel log: [ 7436.647970] PM: Writing back config space on device :00:1e.0 at offset 8 (was f0, writing 50005000) [ 7436.647982] PM: Writing back config space on device :00:1e.0 at offset 7 (was 2280e0f0, writing 22802020) [ 7436.647990] PM: Writing back config space on device :00:1e.0 at offset 6 (was 20030300, writing 20070300) [ 7436.648006] PM: Writing back config space on device :00:1e.0 at offset 1 (was 17, writing 100107) [ 7436.648033] PCI: Setting latency timer of device :00:1e.0 to 64 [ 7436.648081] PM: Writing back config space on device :00:1f.0 at offset 1 (was 217, writing 2100107) [ 7436.663830] PM: Writing back config space on device :00:1f.2 at offset f (was 200, writing 20b) [ 7436.663884] ACPI: PCI Interrupt :00:1f.2[B] - GSI 17 (level, low) - IRQ 17 [ 7436.663893] PCI: Setting latency timer of device :00:1f.2 to 64 [ 7436.663924] PM: Writing back config space on device :00:1f.3 at offset f (was 200, writing 20b) [ 7436.663884] ata1.00: _GTF evaluation failed (AE 0x1001) [ 7436.663965] PM: Writing back config space on device :00:1f.3 at offset 1 (was 281, writing 2800101) [ 7436.664073] PM: Writing back config space on device :0c:00.0 at offset f (was 100, writing 10b) [ 7436.664181] PM: Writing back config space on device :0c:00.0 at offset 4 (was 0, writing dfdff000) [ 7436.664200] PM: Writing back config space on device :0c:00.0 at offset 3 (was 0, writing 10) [ 7436.664224] PM: Writing back config space on device :0c:00.0 at offset 1 (was 10, writing 100102) [ 7436.664334] ACPI: PCI Interrupt :0c:00.0[A] - GSI 17 (level, low) - IRQ 17 [ 7436.664377] PM: Writing back config space on device :09:00.0 at offset f (was 1c4, writing 105) [ 7436.664408] PM: Writing back config space on device :09:00.0 at offset 5 (was 1e81b006, writing 0) [ 7436.664418] PM: Writing back config space on device :09:00.0 at offset 4 (was 90140004, writing dfcf0004) [ 7436.664428] PM: Writing back config space on device :09:00.0 at offset 3 (was 0, writing 10) [ 7436.664440] PM: Writing back config space on device :09:00.0 at offset 1 (was 10, writing 100106) [ 7436.664494] PM: Writing back config space on device :03:01.0 at offset f (was 800100, writing 58001ff) [ 7436.664503] PM: Writing back config space on device :03:01.0 at offset e (was 1, writing 24fd) [ 7436.664512] PM: Writing back config space on device :03:01.0 at offset d (was 1, writing 2401) [ 7436.664520] PM: Writing back config space on device :03:01.0 at offset c (was 1, writing 20fd) [ 7436.664529] PM: Writing back config space on device :03:01.0 at offset b (was 1, writing 2001) [ 7436.664538] PM: Writing back config space on device :03:01.0 at offset a (was 0, writing 50bff000) [ 7436.664548] PM: Writing back config space on device :03:01.0 at offset 9 (was 0, writing 5080) [ 7436.664557] PM: Writing back config space on device :03:01.0 at offset 8 (was 0, writing 507ff000) [ 7436.664566] PM: Writing back config space on device :03:01.0 at offset 7 (was 0, writing 5040) [ 7436.664575] PM: Writing back config space on device :03:01.0 at offset 6 (was 2000, writing b0070403) [ 7436.664586] PM: Writing back config space on device :03:01.0 at offset 4 (was 0, writing 5000) [ 7436.664595] PM: Writing back config space on device :03:01.0 at offset 3 (was 24000, writing 2a800) [ 7436.664606] PM: Writing back config space on device :03:01.0 at offset 1 (was 417, writing 4100087) [ 7436.664637] Yenta O2: res at 0x94/0xD4: 00/ea [ 7436.664640] Yenta O2: enabling read prefetch/write burst [ 7436.834616] serial 00:0b: activated [ 7436.902768] ata2.00: configured for UDMA/33 [ 7438.541655] sd 0:0:0:0: [sda] Starting disk [ 7438.60] ata1.00: configured for UDMA/100 [ 7438.617666] sd 0:0:0:0: [sda] 156301488 512-byte hardware sectors (80026 MB) [ 7438.617666] sd 0:0:0:0: [sda] Write Protect is off [ 7438.617666] sd

Bug#499242: ITP: libclass-accessor-named-perl -- Better profiling output for Class::Accessor
Package: wnpp Severity: wishlist Owner: AGOSTINI Yves [EMAIL PROTECTED] * Package name: libclass-accessor-named-perl Version : 0.008 Upstream Author : Jesse Vincent [EMAIL PROTECTED] * URL : http://search.cpan.org/dist/Class-Accessor-Named/ * License : Perl Programming Lang: Perl Description : Better profiling output for Class::Accessor Class::Accessor is a great way to automate the tedious task of generating accessors and mutators. One small drawback is that due to the details of the implemenetation, you only get one __ANON__ entry in profiling output. That entry contains all your accessors, which can be a real pain if you're attempting to figure out which of your accessors is being called six billion times. This module is a development aid which uses Hook::LexWrap and Sub::Name to talk your accessors into identifying themselves. While it shouldn't add much additional runtime overhead (as it acts only Class::Accessor's generator functions), it has not been designed for production deployment. -- System Information: Debian Release: lenny/sid APT prefers unstable APT policy: (500, 'unstable') Architecture: i386 (i686) -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe. Bug#496059: please provide truetype flavors of the ghostscript fonts
tags 496059 + patch thanks Dear ghostscript maintainers, I have created the attached patch against the gsfonts package, which adds support for a ttf-gsfonts package providing TrueType transformations of the fonts. What is still missing from the patch is a changelog entry and an appropriate ttf-gsfonts.hints file. The ttf-gsfonts.{docs,prerm,postinst} files have been copied over from the gsfonts ones with minor modifications where needed. Please consider accepting this patch or at least review and comment it! Bug#499236: aspell-ru: does not recognise flexional word forms any longer
On Wed, Sep 17, 2008 at 11:05 AM, Johannes Rohr [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: Package: aspell-ru Version: 0.99g5-4 Severity: grave Justification: renders package unusable I'm sorry for submitting a bug of this severity, but it really makes a package unusable that I depend on a lot. That's a completely excessive severity level. There is no change in how the dictionaries are generated or packaged, so I have to guess that either upstream sources no longer include all declensions or that tools used to generate the myspell and aspell dictionaries from the ispell source have become broken in one way or another. -- Martin-Éric Racine http://q-funk.iki.fi

I ve checked out the README.Debian and will push it into the repository. The other things are probably dealt with. The c++ thing is solved by not building the files in questions (BTW it's also fixed upstream), bashisms should be OK, and the OPEN_MAX thing is fixed upstream. Ok, thanks for checking. Brtw, do you intend to apply for Debian Developer ( https://nm.debian.org ) or Debian Maintainer ( http://wiki.debian.org/Maintainers ) ? Bug#499251: gcc -MMD erroneously regards missing #includes as only warnings
Package: cpp-4.1 Version: 4.1.1-21 mariner:~/junk cat t.c #include nonexistent.h int x; mariner:~/junk gcc-4.1 -c -MD t.c echo hi t.c:1:25: error: nonexistent.h: No such file or directory mariner:~/junk gcc-4.1 -c -MMD t.c echo hi t.c:1:25: warning: nonexistent.h: No such file or directory hi mariner:~/junk There is probably confusion because gcc -M needs to regard missing #includes as only warnings because otherwise in systems with a separate dependency generation step that step can fail if the .c files include .h's which are autogenerated. However when we're actually compiling, with dependency generation being a side effect (-MD and -MMD), missing headers need to be reported as actual errors, just as they would be if -MMD wasn't specified - ie, just as if the dependency generation side effect was not requested. As you can see -MD works correctly. The documentation for -MMD says Like `-MD' except mention only user header files, not system header files. so I think it's just an oversight that the fix for the -MD special case is not applied to -MMD. This bug existed at least as early as etch's gcc-3.4 (in cpp-3.4 3.4.6-5) and also affects lenny's gcc-4.2 (in cpp-4.2 4.2.4-1). At least some old GCC versions supporting -MMD do not have the bug but I haven't investigated in detail which ones and I don't know whether that's true of any Debian GCCs. I would strongly suggest that this bug NOT be fixed in lenny. It will almost certainly reveal latent but harmless build system bugs in existing packages and cause disruption. It is of course a shame not to fix it straight away - and it's a pretty surprising bug - but it has remained like this for some years now and I think the collateral damage inflicted (including delays to the lenny release) would outweigh the benefits. Bug#167372: This package should really be split
Le dimanche 07 septembre 2008 à 18:20 +0200, Francesco Poli a écrit : Hi! I am another user who would *very* like to see gnome-games split into several binary packages (possibly built from a single source package) for the various individual games. Of course, the same holds for gnome-games-data. It would save users willing to play only one or two games the hassle to pull in a huge amount of dependencies and the consequent waste of mass memory. All games have similar dependencies, except for python (which is already widely used by other GNOME packages), guile (which is not that big) and GGZ. Pretty please, think about it and see if this is feasible... Of course it is technically feasible, but it would add even more clutter to the packages file by adding no less than 30 packages, for a questionable gain. Also, I don't quite understand why attempting to install gnome-games (even without recommends) seems to pull in avahi, cups, foomatic, nautilus-burn, samba, ... Samba? I just want to play gnometris, there's no running Windows system that I can see, why should I need Samba ?!? None of these are in the dependencies of gnome-games, only the client libraries are. You might want to analyze the chain of Recommends to find what pulls them, I can assure you that it is not gnome-games directly and that splitting it would have no effect on that issue: for example, cups is brought by libgnomeprint which is brought by python-gnome2-desktop. However I’m pretty sure that nautilus-cd-burner, samba and avahi are not brought by Recommends. Cheers, -- .''`. : :' : We are debian.org. Bug#499264: debcheckout: topgit clone support for git repos
Package: devscripts File: /usr/bin/debcheckout Severity: wishlist also sprach Stefano Zacchiroli [EMAIL PROTECTED] [2008.09.16.0815 +0100]: The only reasonable heuristic to identify a TopGit repository is to use git-ls-remote and look if the remote has top-bases: git ls-remote git://git.debian.org/git/collab-maint/topgit.git refs/top-bases/\* this means two network connections, but there is no other way; topgit is not a build dependency for packages using it. OK, so, should I consider this reply of yours an ACK to implement TopGit support this way, without resorting to a new field in the Vcs-* namespace? If so, I would love a wishlist bugreport about it ... Done. An alternative approach more reminiscent of duck typing (try it and handle failure, instead of first checking whether to do it) would be: if callable(tg): save_backup(.git/config) if tg remote --populate origin: if git show-ref | egrep -q '^[[:xdigit:]]+[[:space:]]+refs/top-bases/.+$': party! restore_backup(.git/config) Maybe Petr (debbugs-cc'd) has some (more) input on this? It provides a nifty dialog-based playlist editor. . It basically allows you to browse through your files in a Midnight Commander-like fashion. The MP3's you select are treated as a playlist which can be shuffled, rearranged, saved, etc. . In order to play audio files, two player interfaces are provided. The mpg123-specific interface uses the remote protocol of mpg123 (This feature was introduced in version 0.59r in order to accommodate generic frontends.) The other player frontend is generic and allows for any player to be used. This is useful if you do not want to limit the functionality of juice to MP3's. Please note that this generic frontend is still in early beta phase and is pretty buggy. . Bug#499236: aspell-ru: does not recognise flexional word forms any longer
Martin-Éric Racine schrieb: Btw, icedove (and all Mozilla products) and openoffice use myspell-ru for proof reading. Yes, but gnome-spell, used by evolution, uses aspell. As a test, could you check documents that you normally work on with Gedit using e.g. Nano or VI in a terminal with irussian? If proof reading works with irussian, then we'll know that the problem is with the tools used to generate myspell-ru (which would also affect aspell-ru). This is probably the case, as ispell -d russian works fine for a file encoded in koi8-ru. Bug#499266: dhcp3-server: selinux problem - need to run restorecon from the postinst
Package: dhcp3-server Version: 3.1.1-3 Severity: important if [ ! -e /var/lib/dhcp3/dhcpd.leases ]; then After the if section in the postinst which starts with the above line you need to have a line of shell code like the following: [ -x /sbin/restorecon ] /sbin/restorecon /var/lib/dhcp3/dhcpd.leases This is because the dhcp client and server have different contexts for their data files and we need to get the right context (the default matches the client's use). As SE Linux is a standard part of Lenny it would be really good if this could be fixed for Lenny. -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe. Trouble? I will close #498413 because the rott package now recommends timidity and freepats to keep libsdl-mixer from attempting to open hardware MIDI devices, which at least is a hack around the problem. Bug#499106: decibel-audio-player: Please respect filename sorting
Hi! When adding files to the playlist, the sort order is artist / album / tracknum / filename, so if there is no track number information, the tracks will be sorted by filenames. Does this fix the second case, when there are files with track numbers and files without them? I've prepared 0.11 and notified my sponsor. It should be soon in the archive. This issue may not be resulted from a bug inside Kazehakase. I can't speak for the release team, but I'd like to point out that a little while is more likely be measured in lower single-digit number of days than weeks or months, so you should hurry indeed. All right. Now I reassign the bug to ruby1.8. I don't think it's a bug in ruby1.8. Garbage collection changed a bit recently, which triggered some bugs in several libs (see #494515 for example). If it's not a bug in kazehakase itself, it's more likely to be a bug in libgtk-ruby1.8, since it happens while requiring that lib in /usr/share/kazehakase/ext/ruby/kazehakase-init-pre.rb. FWIW, I tried with libgtk2-ruby1.8 0.17.0~rc1-5, but it doesn't fix the problem. Based on the above info, I'm reassigning to libgtk2-ruby1.8. Feel free to reassign to ruby1.8 if it turns out that it's a bug in ruby1.8. But it doesn't sound like the most likely candidate. I tried to work on this a bit more. In a pure lenny chroot, on a different machine, I can't reproduce the bug (but I still reproduce it on my laptop). I found no proof that it isn't a bug in kazehakase, but in ruby or ruby-gnome2, so I'm reassigning to kazehakase. -- | Lucas Nussbaum | [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://www.lucas-nussbaum.net/ | | jabber: [EMAIL PROTECTED] GPG: 1024D/023B3F4F | -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe. Bug#499272: xbattbar-acpi: Please reintroduce the -a command line switch from previous versions
Package: xbattbar-acpi Version: 1.1.0-1 Severity: normal Previous versions of xbattbar-acpi allowed me to add the -a command line argument (always on top) which is absolutely necessary to display the battery indicator on top of a maximized terminal server connection window on thinclients (f.ex. rdesktop or Citrix ICA client). Now that you have moved the configurations away from the command line to a configuration file, could you please add a -c option or something like this so that one can specify the configuration file? I need to have several xbattbar configuration files available because with the earlier version, I let people choose the placement of the xbattbar on their thinclients, now I can't do that anymore, because the configuration file resides on a read-only filesystem and I can't change the settings in there easily. Another thing: In the configuration file, it says: battery = 1 # 1 - first battery I had to change this value to 0 on all my notebooks (mostly Lenovo Thinkpads), so is this a bug or just a typo in the configuration file? What's the meaning of the value behind battery?
