I noticed the hppa buildd log has a lot of these messages:

 Should ruby1.9 build-dep on procps?

It should, yes. I added that hack to monitor the build process on slow
arches (where compiling the parser with -O3 could take hours).

However, that problem is harmless: it doesn't cause any change in the
build result.

 Hello,

I did not used it much, but one of my projects require it for cron jobs
execution. I cannot remember if I actually used debian packaged version,
or if I downloaded one from upstream.
Infortunatly, my laptop is now out of order, then I cannot verify this.

Could you by any chance test the current version in Lenny? I'd like to
close this bug, so it would be great if one could have a confirmation

to see that it does not work :)

Bug#510415: tech-ctte: Qmail inclusion (or not) in Debian

basically black and white here), we ask you to help resolve it,
by a ruling on this matter, following Constitution §6.1.3.

What constitutes for you a solution that works for both sides?

I think you have misread Joerg. I did the same at first. Joerg is
saying that he thinks that there is _not_ any sensible compromise and
_not_ anything that will work for both sides.

Indeed I did.

   - several shortcomings related to the MTA behaviour, including the
backscatter spam issue, failing to use secondary MXs, ignoring
RFC1894, and unbundling of outgoing messages (yay for traffic/resource
waste)[2], thus being unsupportably buggy (Policy 2.2.1)

All those are good reasons to not choose the software as a user but not to
not include them in Debian. We don't know how our users are going to use
it and there might be use cases where those shortcomings are not
  problematic.

I think this is a dangerous line of argument. Many of Qmail's
behaviours are terrible in the global Internet and we have no
effective way to prevent (or even warn) our users from running Qmail
 in that situation.

We do have ways to warn users of the package. We can, for example, add an
annoying debconf note to explain the problems of qmail and point them to
some documentation provided in the package.

Indeed practically the only reason why people want Qmail is because
they believe the hype about how ultra secure it is - which is relevant
(if you believe it) in precisely the circumstances where Qmail's
 problems are most severe.

When Debian was running it on lists.debian.org, it was primarily for
performance reasons IIRC (a listmaster of that time can correct me). It
might be that it's no more the selling factor nowadays, but I find it
presomptuous to believe to know why users are interested in it, without
some more serious study.

Kalle Kivimaa writes (Re: Bug#510415: tech-ctte: Qmail inclusion (or not) in
 Debian):
I think the more abstract question here is:

If a software easily causes problems for other machines in a network,
should that software be allowed into Debian, even if the software
  doesn't bring any new functionality?

Yes, I think that's an excellent way to put the question. The answer
 is obviously `no'.

I don't think the answer is so clear cut. ping -f can also easily
causes problems for other machines in a network.

I know we're speaking of the default configuration of a mail daemon
and that the comparison doesn't really hold (although it does with the
phrasing selected).

My main problem is that not including the software in Debian doesn't give
any chance to improve in our infrastructure and that the ftpmasters is not
the right body to decide on the quality of a package (see below), except
for some limited policy compliance check.

Either steps need to be taken to prevent these problems (for the
network as a whole, for other parts of Debian who need to interact
with the package, and for the user who runs it) - or the package
 should not be included.

I can buy this reasoning when it comes to inclusion in a stable release
but not for inclusion in experimental (or sid if the proper RC bugs are
filed immediately).

It's very similar to the reportbug-ng problems that explain that the software
is not part of Lenny.

Cheers,

Bug#148643: emacs21: Disabling or chaning color of tool-bar and menu-bar takes extremly long time when done in init-file

On 2002-05-31 14:02 +0200, Fredrik Ax wrote:

 Package: emacs21

Using any of these options (or combinations of them) in your init
file, ~/.emacs, (or any site-lisp files) gives an extremely long
 startup time:

 (tool-bar-mode nil)

This does not quite do what you want, it is equivalent to
(tool-bar-mode) and _toggles_ the toolbar rather than disabling it.
You should use (tool-bar-mode 0) instead.

 (set-face-background 'menu gray)
 (set-face-foreground 'menu black)

These settings do not seem to have any effect.

 (menu-bar-mode nil)

See my above comments regarding tool-bar-mode.

I cannot reproduce the delays in startup these settings did cause for
you. Do you still have this problem?

Sven

Bug#510957: lintian: CMake build error detection

2009-01-06 Thread Joerg Jaspert
Package: lintian
Version: 2.1.3
Severity: wishlist

Hi

would be nice if Lintian could have an E: level for an easy to detect
FTBFS.
If there is a CMakeCache.txt file in the .diff.gz and as such in the
build tree, cmake will simply refuse to build the package and outright
fail:

CMake Error: The current CMakeCache.txt directory
/tmp/buildd/mysql-connector-cpp-1.0.2~20081215/CMakeCache.txt is
different than the directory
/home/rene/mysql-connector-cpp-1.0.2~20081215 where CMackeCache.txt was
created. This may result in binaries being created in the wrong
place. If you are not sure, reedit the CMakeCache.txt
make: *** [configure-stamp] Error 1

To not have a chance of too many false positives, I would suggest
looking directly into the diff, so avoid upstream source. And do not
count the error as soon as you find that filename anywhere in the rules
file (that assumes the Maintainer takes care of it somehow).

I don't know if there are other files that are treated like this from
cmake, if there are one might also E:rror on them.

Bug#510415: tech-ctte: Qmail inclusion (or not) in Debian

2009-01-06 Thread Don Armstrong
On Tue, 06 Jan 2009, Kalle Kivimaa wrote:
Well, I personally am against the Qmail in Debian at it's current
state because I consider it to have at least one critical security
bug and several other RC bugs, and I don't see how to solve the
critical bug without a serious rewrite.

I agree that Qmail has lots of bugs some of which are critical for the
health of the internet at large, and I think it needs a period in
experimental to get those bugs resolved.

That said, the serious problems that it has are problems that are
present in the qmail-src packages, IIUC. The ideal end state is a
Qmail package that resolves all of these problems, and it'd be better
to have such a package than our current state.

I don't see the arguments we've made as difficult to justify. If we
felt that we couldn't justify them, we wouldn't have made them in
the first place and grudginly accepted the package.

I agree with the arguments about the problems with the package; I'm
just slightly concerned about the method with which they are dealt
with.

Actually, I *am* a fan of Qmail, but I think it is outdated in
today's internet, and anybody considering to use it as a MTA should
think very hard of the pros and cons.

I agree as well; that said, if someone in Debian wants to put in the
work to make Qmail have more pros than cons so those people who are
going to run Qmail anyway can do so without bothering the rest of us,
more power to htem.

This looks like an extra fakeroot is hardcoded into the package, which
is broken behavior. Instead, the code should check whether it is

Do you mean most Windows and Winelib programs (like notepad) speak
English, except for winecfg? Or do you mean most Linux programs?

I mean most Linux programs. It had not penetrated my mind that winecfg
actually ran under wine, while its look and feel should make that
obvious... notepad.exe exhibits the same bug as winecfg.

Anyway, it works fine for me, but I run 32-bit.

I can reproduce this bug in my 32bit chroot. When you say it works
for me, are all of the following conditions met?

 - /etc/locale.gen contains support for at least two languages A and
   B.

 - with LC_MESSAGES=A, LANG=B and LC_ALL unset, winecfg is in A

 - with LC_MESSAGES=B, LANG=A and LC_ALL unset, winecfg is in B

Bug#505270: [Splashy-devel] Bug#505270: my patch (a fast way to deal with this bug)

2009-01-06 Thread Matthijs Kooijman
Hi Time,

As indicated already, please consider this patch for the next version of
splashy. It replaces the sleep in the script, and only holds up init for
the time necessary (certainly less than 0.5 s and perhaps only 0.1 s)
 (attached)
Turns out the patch was easier than I expected :-)

+/* register signal handlers if we are doing splashy boot */
 +  if (g_ascii_strncasecmp (argv[1], boot, 4) == 0) {
+ (void) signal (SIGCHLD, sig_exit_boot); /* this signal is
sent when a child process exits */

signal sent by _splashy_child indicating directfb is fully initialised */

 initramfs from */

 directfb. */
 +
/* some machines had a race condition causing splashy failure */
 +
 /* This fixes bug 505270 */

You're messing up the indentation here, presumably because your not mixing
tabs and spaces properly (though I don't see any real tabs in the patch..)

This is a pretty useless hunk :-)

Perhaps it would be good to increase this sleep interval? On normal operation,
the time isn't reached anyway, and on slow computers / boot media it could
perhaps take long time. It would be annoying if this bug would be reintroduced
just because a particular machine or boot takes a bit longer. How about making
it 10s?

Also, I would write this as:
g_usleep(10*1000*1000)
It's a bit clearer IMHO.

This does not quite do what you want, it is equivalent to

Bug#67828: emacs20: mailcap-parse-mailcaps reverses priorities in /etc/mailcap

2009-01-06 Thread Sven Joachim
Hi Bill,

I'm going through the list of old Emacs bugs in Debian.

On 2000-07-27 23:46 +0200, Bill Wohler wrote:

 Package: emacs20
 Version: 20.7-2
 Severity: normal

In /etc/mailcap, the highest priority entries come first, followed
by lower priority entries. The mailcap-parse-mailcaps parsing scheme
doesn't seem to check for existing entries before adding entries to
its internal cache (which should be updated if the mailcap files
   change, by the way).

For example, my /etc/mailcap contains the following three entries
   for text/html:

 text/html; gnome-help-browser '%s';test=test $DISPLAY !=
 text/html; /usr/bin/lynx -force_html '%s'; needsterminal;
 description=HTML Text; nametemplate=%s.html
 text/html; /usr/bin/lynx -dump -force_html '%s'; copiousoutput;
 description=HTML Text; nametemplate=%s.html

When I use `b' in gnus to display a text/html body part, the last,
lowest priority entry `lynx -dump -force_html %s' was used rather
than `gnome-help-browser %s' at the top of the file. However, you
don't have to run gnus to reproduce the problem; simply run
   (mailcap-mime-info text/html).

This seems to be solved in emacs21 and later. I get these results:

(mailcap-mime-info text/html) = /usr/bin/sensible-browser '%s'
(mailcap-mime-info application/pdf) = kpdf '%s'

Both times this is the first entry in /etc/mailcap for the respective
MIME type, so I think we should close this bug. Do you agree?

Cheers,
   Sven

Bug#505270: Delay

2009-01-06 Thread Tim Richardson
I think a delay of 1 second is probably five times too long even in
worst cases, but if I didn't make mistakes in the code, it won't matter
because a signal will arrive quickly.

Slower machines don't necessarily make the race condition more likely to
occur.

The window of error is only the execution of a few lines of code.
This bug was triggered simply by moving from inittop to premount.
Milliseconds of difference.

Bug#510966: latest mgp package doesn't display any presentation, not even included examples

2009-01-06 Thread Harald Welte
Package: mgp
Version: 1.13a-1
Severity: critical

After running an 'apt-get upgrade' on my debian unstable, the latest mgp
version was installed. Unfortunately, this mgp version does nothing but show a
black screen, refuse to terminate on user request and eat all CPU and memory.

This can be easily reproduced by running mgp on one of the examples included
with it, e.g. the /usr/share/doc/mgp/examples/sample.mgp

I've tried all options that would make sense, including -o / -O / -x vflib / -x
freetype / -l / -V / -F 0,0,0. The behaviour is always consistent and always
reproducible.

strace()ing the binary shows repeated calls to brk(), and top indicates the
process is eating up all cpu cycles available. The program cannot be terminated
by the usual 'q' key, since apparently kbd input is never processed and the
process never reasds from its libX11 filedescriptor again.

That has nothing to do with Evolution, the dependency is the opposite.
Please reassign to the package removed.

Anyway, I think the concerned package will be a meta-package which you
are free to remove if you dont want it. GNOME include a mail reader

It seems as if the password itself might be the cause for the

Bug#505270: [Splashy-devel] Bug#505270: Delay

2009-01-06 Thread Matthijs Kooijman
Hi Tim,

I think a delay of 1 second is probably five times too long even in
worst cases, but if I didn't make mistakes in the code, it won't matter
because a signal will arrive quickly.
Exactly, so it wouldn't hurt to increase it.

Slower machines don't necessarily make the race condition more likely to
 occur.
Well, if the directFB initialization takes longer, the race condition is more
likely to occur AFAICS. It would be a lot longer, though.

The window of error is only the execution of a few lines of code.
This bug was triggered simply by moving from inittop to premount.
 Milliseconds of difference.
But even with the previous code, the race condition could have occured.

The point I'm making is why take the (probably very small) chance that this
bug shows up again on systems that might be different from what we are testing
on now.

But let's just leave this to Luis :-)

Hi,

If I change /etc/network/interfaces to the next, I can change

Bug#510924: iproute: tc fails on action ipt

2009-01-06 Thread Andreas Henriksson
On tis, 2009-01-06 at 02:50 +0200, Yevgeny Kosarzhevsky wrote:
 Package: iproute
 Version: 20080725-2
 Severity: important

Seems iproute has been built against old version of iptables:

iproute uses runtime linking to find external modules, that's why these
problems are not caught at built-time. :(

 warp:~# tc filter add dev ppp0 parent : protocol ip prio 10 u32 \
match u32 0 0 flowid 1:1 \
action ipt -j MARK --set-mark 1 \
action mirred egress redirect dev ifb0
/lib/iptables/libipt_mark.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or
 directory
 failed to find target MARK
 warp:~# find /lib -name *mark.so
 /lib/ebtables/libebt_mark.so
 /lib/xtables/libxt_connmark.so
 /lib/xtables/libxt_mark.so
 warp:~# iptables -V
 iptables v1.4.1.1

The iproute package in debian testing/unstable is new enough to contain
the below fix. Unfortunately it's not enough (atleast for debian)...

The problem seems to be that both libxt_MARK.so and libipt_MARK.so are
searched for in the /lib/iptables directory, while the libxt_* files are
actually in /lib/xtables/ ... That's why libxt_MARK.so isn't found.

It's possible to work around this by setting the IPTABLES_LIB_DIR
environment variable, but that only seems to give us other problems:

$ IPTABLES_LIB_DIR=/lib/xtables/ /sbin/tc filter add dev skif parent
: protocol ip prio 10 u32 match u32 0 0 flowid 1:1 action ipt -j
MARK --set-mark 1 action mirred egress redirect dev ifb0
/lib/xtables//libxt_MARK.so: undefined symbol: mark
 failed to find target MARK

bad action parsing
parse_action: bad value (11:ipt)!
Illegal action

I'll look into this problem more soon, and also try to find out if
putting libxt* in /lib/xtables/ rather then /lib/iptables/ is something
debian specific or if that should be fixed upstream

The reply from iproute developer Jamal Hadi Salim h...@cyberus.ca was:

Upgrade to latest iproute2 - probably from git tree which should fix
 this in the following commit:
 -

 commit 53c017880b311d7d68926109d4248c900286f6b7
...

PS. For the absolutely latest iproute version (as there has been no
additional commits in upstream git since the last v2.6.27 release),
build from debians pkg-iproute git repo:
git clone git://git.debian.org/git/collab-maint/pkg-iproute
apt-get build-dep iproute
apt-get install git-buildpackage build-essentials
cd pkg-iproute
git-buildpackage

Bug#510977: aptitude: Strange Norwegian localization error

2009-01-06 Thread Ove Kaaven
Package: aptitude
Version: 0.4.11.11-1~lenny1
Severity: minor
Tags: l10n

In the screen you get to after choosing g, you usually get to
select/deselect automatically-selected, recommended, and suggested
packages. When selecting a package, the info pane shows its relation
to other packages that will be installed. In the Norwegian translation,
these texts seem a little off.

Packages that will be installed because of a Depends say, e.g.

wine avhenger av libwine-gl, meaning wine depends on libwine-gl.
That one's OK, I guess, just listing it for completeness.

Packages that are listed because of a Recommends say, e.g.

devscripts krever equivs, meaning devscripts requires equivs
or devscripts demands equivs, which doesn't seem right.

Packages that are listed because of a Suggests say, e.g.

devscripts anbefaler mutt, meaning devscript recommends mutt.
Not quite right, either.

No idea, all our Dells are now running Mandriva with a 2.6.18-based Xen
kernel, and there is no chance in the near future to try Debian on them
again. I've had other affected machines but they were/are running
vanilla kernels, not Debian provided ones. On these other machines, the
bug has been fixed in 2.6.27 upstream.

Ah. network-manager doesnt allow you to configure static addresses. That's a
missing feature. (In lenny for sure, maybe its fixed in newer versions.)

If I change /etc/network/interfaces to the next, I can change
parameters from KControl, but system does not connect:

I dont understand what you mean with that.

Your /etc/network/interfaces looks good. What does /sbin/ifconfig

Does running ifdown eth0 ; ifup eth0 (as root) fix the network?

Lionel Elie Mamane skrev:

Anyway, it works fine for me, but I run 32-bit.

I can reproduce this bug in my 32bit chroot. When you say it works
for me, are all of the following conditions met?

 - /etc/locale.gen contains support for at least two languages A and
   B.

 - with LC_MESSAGES=A, LANG=B and LC_ALL unset, winecfg is in A

 - with LC_MESSAGES=B, LANG=A and LC_ALL unset, winecfg is in B

(in my case A=en_GB.UTF-8 and B=fr_LU.UTF-8)

Yes.

I've just set up an amd64 partition to test on, and it also works fine
there, apparently. My LANG is normally set to nb_NO.UTF-8. If I do:

$ LC_MESSAGES=sv_SE.UTF-8 winecfg
it talks Swedish, as expected. Also works with fr_FR.UTF-8, en_US.UTF-8,
etc.

Well, I just noticed that it seems it doesn't work with en_GB.UTF-8.
Looks like winecfg's localized resources are inadvertently only defined
for en_US, not for en_*, causing a fallback. I guess that's a bug, but
it's not that LC_MESSAGES isn't respected. Just that en_US is the only
English language winecfg knows...

Bug#510980: xserver-xorg-input-vmmouse: vmmouse loads mouse even when it is not used

2009-01-06 Thread michal . suchanek
Package: xserver-xorg-input-vmmouse
Version: 1:12.5.1-4
Severity: minor

The vmmouse driver loads the mouse driver on load and fails loading if
the mouse driver is not present.

Later during initialization it checks for presence of the vmware
compatible absolute coordinate device, and the mouse driver is not used
if such device is detected.

However, the mouse driver is loaded regardless of the presence of the
vmware pointing device, and the driver fails to load when the mouse
driver is not persent even if it would not be used anyway.

Thanks

uploading the dm package) in the following way:

- - add Wouter Verhelst wou...@debian.org
- - add Bernd Zeimetz b...@debian.org
- - in theory Michael Koch mk...@debian.org should be added, too, but he seems
to have disappeared from Debian completely, so it's probably better to wait
until he's back again.

Bug#510983: dar: Print errors during restore in summary on finish

2009-01-06 Thread tilo
Package: dar
Version: 2.3.8-3
Severity: wishlist

Hi,

it would be helpful, if dar would print the errors occured during restore at
the end. Why? When I was on the konsole restoring a
120 GB /home file system, dar printed at the very end in the summary something
like 2 filesystem errors. Since I didn't save the
dar output in a file, I didn't know how to get any details about the error,
because the console history is only a few pages. Thus, I
removed everything and extracted the 120 GB again, this time saving the dar
output (there were two CRC checksum errors in two
irrelevant files). If dar would have printed the error messages at the end,
they would have been very likely accessible using
page-up in the konsole.

Thanks for the nice dar program!

Regards,

Tilo

Bug#510984: perl: reworking .ph files

2009-01-06 Thread Niko Tyni
Package: perl
Version: 5.10.0-19
Severity: wishlist

Quoting Brendan in an oldish mail:

.ph files are an abomination which should go away. h2ph does a
reasonable job, but does screw up on occasion.

I reduced the headers which were processed to the minimum I believed
necessary (debian/headers) based on a grep of require lines in the
Debian packages at the time, supplied patches to h2lp and did some
 post-processing (debian/fixheaders) to fix problems.

This was mostly successful when I first made those changes, but
subsequent versions of glibc introduced new and whackier syntax which
defeated the h2ph parsing, in some instances only impacting certain
 architectures.

My plan, unrealised to date, was to identify the specific constants
users were interested in and to have a compiled program which
generated a limited subset of the .ph files, removing the problems of
trying to parse headers by punting to the compiler. Something like:

   #include sys/ioctl.h

   int main()
   {
 /* ... */
 printf(sub TIOCGWINSZ() { %d }\n, TIOCGWINSZ);
 /* ... */
   }

Filing a bug to document the plan. At least #379757, #416968,
and #505289 are related.

Bug#510895: perlivp fails

The `perlivp` program fails two of its tests. One is due to the absence
of '/usr/local/lib/site_perl' and the other appears to be an artifact of
the build procedure having used a temporary directory as a prefix (e.g.
 files missing from installation:
 /tmp/st-o67qmvRP/usr/local/lib/perl/)

I don't see the /tmp thing with the current version (-19), only these:

# Perl @INC directory `/usr/local/lib/perl/5.10.0' does not appear to exist.
# Perl @INC directory `/usr/local/share/perl/5.10.0' does not appear to exist.

We could create the directories in a postinst script, but I'm not sure
I see the point. They will be created automatically when installing
CPAN modules.

I see 'perlivp -a' is also missing quite a few .ph files.

# Perl header `stdio.ph' does not appear to be properly installed.
# Perl header `arpa/inet.ph' does not appear to be properly installed.

Bug#505065: squid: a previous bad configuration causes start/restart to fail

2009-01-06 Thread Teodor MICU
Package: squid
Version: 2.7.STABLE3-1
Followup-For: Bug #505065

I've encountered this problem on both 'etch' and current 'lenny' versions.

This is one reproducable scenario: squid was running just fine and I've
modified this following line by adding 'tproxy'.
  http_port 3128 transparent

With this change, the squid service cannot be restarted or started:
Restarting Squid HTTP proxy: squidFATAL: Bungled squid.conf line 1113:
http_port 3128 transparent tproxy
Squid Cache (Version 2.7.STABLE3): Terminated abnormally.
   failed!

  vision:~# lsof -i tcp:3128; netstat -atnpe | grep 3128; pgrep -fl sq
  987 /usr/sbin/squid -D -YC

So, the service was stopped but the process just hangs and I had to kill it.
But it will not start/restart unless I remove these files:
  vision:~# rm -fv /var/spool/squid/swap.state*
  removed `/var/spool/squid/swap.state'
  removed `/var/spool/squid/swap.state.last-clean'
(or maybe the first one is enough)

In conclusion, this should be done on restart to fix unclean restarts. At least
until a proper fix is found.

Thanks

Bug#510989: upgrading ttf fonts make text in some programs unreadable

2009-01-06 Thread Євгеній Мещеряков
Package: ttf-dejavu
Version: 2.28-1
Severity: normal

After upgrading ttf-dejavu cyrillic text in iceweasel bacame unreadable
(letters are still
Cyrillic, and readable, but words look like made with random password
generator), that
was fixed after restarting iceweasel.

It can be bacause:
  1. Font was open by Iceweasel and during upgrade it was overwritten in-place
(instead of creating temporary file and then moving it, iceweasel could use
 deleted file with old contents)
  2. Information about glyph offsets/numbers is cached somewhere (Iceweasel,
freetype...),
and is not updated after font upgrade. And then new file was opened and
cached
information was used to get glyphs from it.
  3. Fontconfig caches were overwritten in-place during upgrade.
  4. Iceweasel keeps font files open, but reads fontconfig caches time-to-time.

lsof shows that iceweasel keeps ttf files open, and I think dpkg does not
overwrite files
in-place, so this is probably case 3. But I dont have time now to ivestigate
further.

This bug probably not specific to ttf-dejavu/iceweasel/Cyrillic glyphs, and
probably
can be reproduced with fonts that change significantly during upgrade.

Bug#510990: segfault caused by libpam-mount clobbers cron for encrypted home directories

2009-01-06 Thread clayton
Package: libpam-mount
Version: 0.44-1+lenny3
Severity: important
Tags: patch

Per cron bug 484122 some (all?) users who are mounting their encrypted home
directory with libpam-mount have been seeing a constant stream of segfaults
in cron. Cron has been rendered useless in this environment.

strace and ltrace did not yield any interesting results so I have used gdb
to localize the problem and propose a solution.

This patch seems to fix the problem for me:

diff --git a/src/pam_mount.c b/src/pam_mount.c
index 211a996..b86cd05 100644
--- a/src/pam_mount.c
+++ b/src/pam_mount.c

retval = conv-conv(nargs, message, resp,
conv-appdata_ptr);
if (retval != PAM_SUCCESS)
l0g(conv-conv(...): %s\n, pam_strerror(pamh,
retval));

There is another call to pam_get_item on line 270 of the same file which was
suggestive of the necessary fix. Not understanding the software fully, I
made the above minimal change, and it seems to be sufficient, though I
continue to run with it and test.

This is my first patch submission to Debian, and I am treading in software
that I do not really understand, so following is a verbose transcript of my
gdb session:

Bug#510924: iproute: tc fails on action ipt

2009-01-06 Thread jamal
Hi Andreas,

On Tue, 2009-01-06 at 12:48 +0100, Andreas Henriksson wrote:

Maybe try:
export IPTABLES_LIB_DIR=/lib/xtables/
tc filter add dev skif parent...

PS. For the absolutely latest iproute version (as there has been no
additional commits in upstream git since the last v2.6.27 release),
build from debians pkg-iproute git repo:
   git clone git://git.debian.org/git/collab-maint/pkg-iproute
   apt-get build-dep iproute
   apt-get install git-buildpackage build-essentials
   cd pkg-iproute
   git-buildpackage

I run debian exclusively these days (but unfortunately my own dev tc);
so it shouldnt be hard to reproduce this. I will spend time this week
looking into this issue.

cheers,
jamal

Bug#510694: nautilus: Open with menu fails with error Text was empty (or contained only whitespace)

Rebuilding nautilus 2.24 without applying 20_open-with_install.patch

I cannot understand what this patch does, but this might be related to
the change applied in 2.22.5.1-1 wrt bugzilla #541183 (case where

Bug#495934: konq-plugins conflicts with kde-i18n

Sorry, perhaps I'm being stupid here but what is going on with this fix? So I
can't install any of the Konqueror plugins if my native language isn't English
(US)? How is this a solution?

Surely either kde-i18n or konq-plugins need packaged properly because they
should both be able to be installed on the same system at once, no?
