Christophe, can you please try 0.12 qemu-kvm packages from my site, http://www.corpit.ru/debian/tls/kvm/ and see if these fixes your problem? This bug is difficult to reproduce, upstream says it's fixed long ago, and it also seems to affect only Intel machines, but I only have AMD CPUs here. The packages I mentioned are not in Debian because they're not yet DFSG-clean, because since 0.12 the way various bios/firmware bits are packages has changed in upstream and we were waiting for new seabios package to enter Debian (it's now separate subpackage). Packages on my site includes the already compiled binary form of seabios, but other than that they're as good as possible. That has been done already, for what I can do there is even an open report about GD (which is solved as of 5.3.0+ :). for everyone else, this is a bug report about the embedded sapi and nothing else, so please keep anything unrelated to this out of the bug report. as it is i'm already considering trashing the bug report and opening a new one because of all the bad blood. in the meantime please refer to my previous post (#50) for what our current position on this is (no time to do so, possible technical concerns, someone else will have to do the legwork and it will be after squeeze at soonest). About embed, I also think it is prematur to bring it to a stable package. It needs some changes to be useful (for ex. split init functions so it can be used with embedded server more efficiently). Maybe a good start would be to contribute directly to PHP and add some tests for this SAPI. Once we reached a stable state, distros can then consider to bring it to their users. Bug#571491:
reassign 571491 vtk thanks Ok here is the summary. In order to build the VTK-GDCM extension, GDCM needs a pre-installed copy of VTK on the target machine. In this case a VTK 5.4 compiled against python2.5 was found. When building the VTK-GDCM extension, GDCM does not do anything bug simply passing the exact same compilation flags (thanks to cmake) from VTK to the VTK-GDCM extension. In this case: $ grep python /usr/lib/vtk-5.4/VTKConfig.cmake SET(VTK_INCLUDE_DIRS ${VTK_INSTALL_PREFIX}/include/vtk-5.4;/usr/include;/usr/include;/usr/include;/usr/include;/usr/include;/usr/include;/usr/include;/usr/include;/usr/include;/usr/include;/usr/include;/usr/include;/usr/include;/usr/include;/usr/include;/usr/include;/usr/include;/usr/include;/usr/lib/openmpi/include;/usr/lib/openmpi/include/openmpi;/usr/include/tcl8.5;/usr/include/python2.5;/usr/include/tcl8.5;/usr/lib/jvm/default-java/include;/usr/lib/jvm/default-java/include;/usr/lib/jvm/default-java/include;/usr/include;/usr/include;/usr/include;/usr/include;/usr/include;/usr/include/libxml2;/usr/include;/usr/include/freetype2) SET(VTK_PYTHONPATH_DIRS /usr/lib/python2.5/site-packages;/usr/lib/python2.5/site-packages) So VTK-GDCM is only an extension of VTK. Thus whenever VTK will compile with python2.6, VTK-GDCM should compile just fine (the previous errors was reported against a VTK header). Reassigning to VTK package. -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. Trouble? Contact listmas...@lists.debian.org
Bug#572046: phpmyadmin table and user not created while upgrading though dbconfig-common was enabled
Package: phpmyadmin Version: 4:3.2.5-2 Severity: normal The dialog about dbconfig-common creates the impression that it will create the table and user directly. But they are not created before I manually call dpkg-reconfigure phpmyadmin which asks me some questions needed to create the table and user. I think these questions should already be asked while upgrading. I could reproduce that problem by upgrading a lenny chroot with mysql and phpmyadmin to squeeze. The reason is surely the priority like the README.Debian mentioned it because the default priority of debconf is high. If the priority problem will not be fixed it would be at least good to add a note to the first dialog about dbconfig-common that this option will not necessarily create the table and user and dpkg-reconfigure has to be called if not. It would be also ok to lower the priority of the dbconfig-common question and thus there would be no wrong impression. -- System Information: Debian Release: squeeze/sid APT prefers testing APT policy: (500, 'testing') Architecture: amd64 (x86_64) Kernel: Linux 2.6.31.71000HZ (SMP w/2 CPU cores) Locale: LANG=en_US.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=en_US.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/dash Versions of packages phpmyadmin depends on: ii dbconfig-common1.8.44common framework for packaging dat ii debconf [debconf-2.0] 1.5.28Debian configuration management sy ii libapache2-mod-php55.3.1-5 server-side, HTML-embedded scripti ii libjs-mootools 1.2.4.0~debian1-1 compact JavaScript framework ii perl 5.10.1-11 Larry Wall's Practical Extraction ii php5 5.3.1-5 server-side, HTML-embedded scripti ii php5-cgi 5.3.1-5 server-side, HTML-embedded scripti ii php5-mcrypt5.3.1-5 MCrypt module for php5 ii php5-mysql 5.3.1-5 MySQL module for php5 ii ucf3.0025Update Configuration File: preserv Versions of packages phpmyadmin recommends: ii apache2 2.2.14-5 Apache HTTP Server metapackage ii apache2-mpm-prefork [httpd] 2.2.14-5 Apache HTTP Server - traditional n ii mysql-client 5.1.41-3 MySQL database client (metapackage ii mysql-client-5.1 [mysql-clien 5.1.41-3 MySQL database client binaries ii php5-gd 5.3.1-5GD module for php5 Versions of packages phpmyadmin suggests: ii mysql-server 5.1.41-3 MySQL database server (metapackage ii mysql-server-5.1 [mysql-serve 5.1.41-3 MySQL database server binaries -- debconf information: phpmyadmin/remove-error: abort phpmyadmin/setup-username: admin * phpmyadmin/db/app-user: phpmyadmin phpmyadmin/remote/host: * phpmyadmin/dbconfig-install: true phpmyadmin/remote/port: phpmyadmin/dbconfig-upgrade: true phpmyadmin/missing-db-package-error: abort phpmyadmin/upgrade-error: abort phpmyadmin/dbconfig-reinstall: false * phpmyadmin/db/dbname: phpmyadmin phpmyadmin/database-type: mysql phpmyadmin/dbconfig-remove: * phpmyadmin/mysql/method: unix socket phpmyadmin/purge: false phpmyadmin/install-error: abort * phpmyadmin/reconfigure-webserver: apache2 * phpmyadmin/mysql/admin-user: root phpmyadmin/internal/reconfiguring: false phpmyadmin/remote/newhost: phpmyadmin/internal/skip-preseed: false phpmyadmin/upgrade-backup: true phpmyadmin/passwords-do-not-match: -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. I thought from the original report it was obvious that this makes kvm unusable, therefore this bug is not only important. I cannot successfully start kvm at all, except when using the -no-kvm switch. But with that, kvm is just the same as qemu. Thank you for the explanation. I have an intel core i7, therefore the statement that this only affects intel could be correct, but that was not present in the bug report before I bumped the severity. It's not only on Intel. There are many people who run kvm on intel, and several kvm developers are all-intel shops too. I mentioned that the bug is difficult to reproduce, and that is on Intel CPU too. But I see it now from your side, and yes, for you the package is unusable and hence severity is understandable. Meanwhile, can you please try 0.12.3 package from my site as I mentioned before (see the bug in question). I don't think anyone is actively working on this. I think EXPORT rules appear in a few places for host tools during cross compiling. If not what are the steps: 1. Remove EXPORT_LIBRARY_DEPENDENCIES() call and replace with install(EXPORT VTKEXPORTNAME ...) 2. Add EXPORT VTKEXPORTNAME to all install(vtkpng|vtktiff|vtkzlib|vtkIO|...) 3. Tweaks (?) VTKConfig.cmake to start using VTKEXPORTNAME.cmake instead of VTKLibDep.cmake. That's basically it, except for whatever is needed to maintain compatibility. I have prepared a patch for (1) (2) and (3). It is available at: http://gdcm.svn.sf.net/viewvc/gdcm/Sandbox/VTK/vtk.export.libs.patch I'd appreciate if you could comment on it. Did I miss anything ? Package: tomcat6 Version: 6.0.24-2 Severity: grave Justification: renders package unusable Hi, After todays upgrade to v6.0.24-2 due to migration to 'testing' the tomcat6 service doesn't start anymore. I've tried a fresh install and there is no difference. I see that 'jscv' is no longer used and 'authbind' is disabled by default, thus 'catalina.sh' upstream script is used instead. I believe this is a major regression since 'jsvc' is the only alternative for running a java-baser program as a service. The upstream 'catalina.sh' shell script doesn't make use of 'jsvc' because it is not available on all platforms, this script is meant to be portable on all Linux/ UNIX hosts. Bug#572046: phpmyadmin table and user not created while upgrading though dbconfig-common was enabled
reassign 572046 dbconfig-common 1.8.44 affects 572046 phpmyadmin thanks Hi Dne Mon, 01 Mar 2010 10:01:17 +0100 Benjamin S. da_jo...@gmx.net napsal(a): The dialog about dbconfig-common creates the impression that it will create the table and user directly. I don't see anything specific to phpMyAdmin in this report, it is just generic way how dbconfig-common behaves. Bug#569341: same for ^W
every time i login to a debian VM on the console using virt-manager, i type and edit command lines in bash. one of the most important editing keys in bash is ^W (delete prev word). every time i do that, the console is closed. using ^W while editing command lines is a long-ingrained habit, so i do it repeatedly during any session. this is, to put it very mildly, extremely annoying. the virt-manager console window does not need and should not have keybindings for its menus. all key-strokes (except for Ctrl-Alt to release the pointer) should be sent to the VM exactly as typed. at the very least, menu keybindings should be a configurable option. i don't care much what the default is, as long as there's a way for me to turn them all off. craig -- craig sanders c...@taz.net.au -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. Bug#567472: wicd: does not connect to my hidden (and unencrypted) wifi network
On Monday 01 March 2010 11:18:49, Ritesh Raj Sarraf wrote: [..] You should be able to fix this problem by putting a full path to a script -- those fields are not meant to contain any command, just something like /home/ritesh/my-wicd-preconnect.sh (it could also be something different from Bash, if you wish -- it's run by python's subprocess.Popen()). If this fixes the problem for you, I'll proceed in fixing the manpage about it. This does not seem to be fixing the problem. [..] 2010/03/01 15:37:07 :: Executing post-connection script 2010/03/01 15:37:07 :: Expanded '/home/rrs/bin/vpnc-wicd.sh post-connect' to '/home/rrs/bin/vpnc-wicd.sh post-connect' 2010/03/01 15:37:07 :: Executing '/home/rrs/bin/vpnc-wicd.sh post-connect' with params 2010/03/01 15:37:07 :: '/home/rrs/bin/vpnc-wicd.sh post-connect' returned 127 Ok, maybe I didn't explain myself clearly enough :). Don't put any whitespace in those fields; they're supposed to executed ONE command, with no arguments. Try making a vpnc-wicd-postconnect.sh and vpnc-wicd-postdisconnect.sh, and see if those work. Yes, I agree we should make it safer, and document the whole thing better. And maybe find a better solution for you ;) I also discovered some more problems. I populated the an ESSID with pre/post script details. Later, I removed the Pre-XX setting. But on re-looking at the window I could see the same value back. The setting wasn't being removed at all. I had to go and edit the setting in the /etc/wicd/wireless-settings.conf file ultimately. This is a separate bug, please file a new one, and we'll investigate that too. Haven't tried it again as wicd is a critical package for me that provides me the network service. Just want to get my network working. :-( Perhaps we should have a more conservative policy for such core packages. I don't consider wicd a core package -- I consider it rather young to be core, but I'm sure you're not the only one considering it so :) Unfortunately, the scripting mechanism is barely documented, and I agree this is an important bug to be solved ASAP. I'm sorry it doesn't just work out-of- the-box for you; but maybe it's just a misunderstanding of you, plus a heavy lack of documentation. See: $ cat foo.py from wicd.misc import ExecuteScript ExecuteScript(/bin/echo foo, True) ExecuteScript(whoami, True) $ python foo.py Executing '/bin/echo foo' with params '/bin/echo foo' returned 127 Executing whoami with params whoami returned 0 $ This explains the bug you're facing. You're passing arguments inside the connection script field -- the text you enter there is passed to ExecuteScript(). This could also be the reason why it worked with 1.6.2.2 -- I don't remember any ExecuteScript() there, just a misc.Run() function which worked differently. But I haven't really checked this, just ideas. Ok, let's solve your problem now. If you need some arguments, the {pre,post}-{dis,}connect scripts you specify get some passed: a) if it's a wired interface, the script you give is passed with wired wired wired (it's just really for compatibility with the wireless one) b) if it's a wireless, the script is passed wireless essid bssid And yes, this is totally undocumented ;/. Regarding your original bug: I forgot to say that all this could be avoided, just by dropping sudo.. scripts are executed by the user running the daemon, i.e. root. However, it's been useful to investigate how scripts work a bit better :) If you still have problems, after dropping sudo from your original command, or after passing just ONE script, with no arguments, in the given fields, then this really is a weird serious bug. But I hope/think this will not be the case :) Kindly, David -- . ''`. Bug#531206: Patch for the 1:0.3.16-3.1 NMU of uptimed
On Sun, Feb 28, 2010 at 10:59 AM, Christian PERRIER bubu...@debian.org wrote: Quoting Thibaut VARENE (vare...@parisc-linux.org): merci :) Sorry for the .changes file, though. It was mistakenly listing all versions of uptimed because of a bug in my ~/.pbuilderrc file. No big deal, shit happens... BTW, do you know that I am a (very happy) uptimed user since it exists as a Debian package. It indeed recorded most of my uptime records on various servers, up to 2 years for one of them. That's cool! I should probably consider helping in the package maintainance, indeed. Well as you could probably tell from the bug reports, the one area where I could totally use some help is debconf. I'm no debconf addict, let alone guru, and I have to confess I did let all the debconf bugs that the package had when I took over the way they were. There are also a couple code issues for which I couldn't get a clearcut answer from upstream, but I think those are lower priority. In any case, help is most welcome. Bug#571635: Fragile API

Thus, when i said about the Samba Team point of view (if not about it's official policy), i was practically right. To summarize your and JV's advises, there is no way to add a Samba VFS module package to Debian except having the module's source in the upstream Samba itself. Dietz Proepper wrote: Package: xserver-xorg-video-radeon Version: 1:6.12.99+git20100201.a887818f-1 Severity: grave Justification: renders package unusable Seriously ? No. It's not even a crash, which would only be important :) It renders opengl unuseable, trust me ;-). Under linux-2.6.33 with kms enabled I get serious display corruption as soon as I do opengl stuff, i.e. starting glxgears. After terminating glxgears, the corruption vanishes sometimes. The corruption looks like wrong timings looked way back as we had analogous displays, want to say, the picture seems to cycle through. With 2.6.32.7+kms everything works fine. I did not yet check, wether the same happens with .33 w/o kms. The machine is a Lenovo Z61m, mobile x1400 chipset. The xserver log below is not from 2.6.33, I can create one if needed. Why do you report against xserver-xorg-video-radeon if 2.6.33 seems to be the breaker here ? Eh? It might also be an error in xserver-xorg-video-radeon. And given the fact that there is no 2.6.33 packagage atm, where else should I report? Which mesa do you have, by the way ? Oops. That did not show up in the dependencies? If OpenGL is enabled, you could compare Mesa 7.6.1 (in testing) and 7.7 (in unstable) in case you see a difference. It's 7.7.
