That's how it is displayed in my case. gai.conf is empty. Right now
i dont see, where this behavior comes from. I hope you understand
that i'm very cautious about patching upstream source as long as we
dont have eliminated all the doughts, where this problem really relies.

With the tweak in effect, oidentd worked without my patch - using only a
single IPv6 socket which accepted both IPv4 and IPv6. (This would break
 for /proc/sys/net/ipv6/bindv6only=1.)

I can not confirm this either. I just enabled bindv6only and tried
to connect again to oidentd on ipv4 and ipv6:

Mar 1 09:04:34 black oidentd[18481]: Connection from
cl-849.dus-01.de.sixxs.net (2a01:198:200:350::2):39062

oidentd 18443 oident7u IPv4 48082508 TCP *:auth (LISTEN)

Now it binds two 2 single sockets but that's really no advantage or
disadvantage at all.

err, it's exactly the same with i915.  You can't unload it before
unbinding the console.  Anyway, I think this bug can be closed with
 2.6.32-9, which turns VT_HW_CONSOLE_BINDING on.

Michal, 2.6.32-9 is in unstable now. Can you please retest?

I don't see any difference. It doesn't just work. If I am supposed to
rebind the vgacon driver manually then I have no idea how.

Is this documented somewhere?

I tried to restore my setup with radeonfb but it no longer loads for
me automatically and I found there is no documentation whatsoever for

Christophe, can you please try 0.12 qemu-kvm
packages from my site, http://www.corpit.ru/debian/tls/kvm/
and see if these fixes your problem?

This bug is difficult to reproduce, upstream says
it's fixed long ago, and it also seems to affect
only Intel machines, but I only have AMD CPUs here.

The packages I mentioned are not in Debian because
they're not yet DFSG-clean, because since 0.12 the
way various bios/firmware bits are packages has
changed in upstream and we were waiting for new
seabios package to enter Debian (it's now separate
subpackage). Packages on my site includes the
already compiled binary form of seabios, but other
than that they're as good as possible.

Thanks.

The build-dependency and the runtime dependency on binutils are now:

   binutils (= 2.18~cvs20070812-1~),

However, the following binutils versions do not support readelf -p,
even though they satisfy the dependencies:

2.18~cvs20070812-1 (tested)
2.18-1 (judging from the source)
2.18.1~cvs20071027-1 (judging from the source)
2.18.1~cvs20071027-2 (judging from the source)
2.18.1~cvs20080103-4 (judging from the source patches)

Indeed, the upstream binutils-2_18-branch still does not support
readelf -p. That code is in binutils-2_19-branch and later.

I think binutils 2.18.50.20080507-1 is the first Debian package
that supports readelf -p. I cannot verify that though, because
I have neither sources nor binaries for that version.

Agreed.

as for your opinions on the suhosin patch, libgd, embedded timezone
data, etc--they may all have valid arguments behind them, but this is
neither the place nor the approach/tone for approaching them.  if you
want to push for some kind of reconciliation, please bring it up in a
constructive form on the pkg-php mailing list or a seperate bug report.

That has been done already, for what I can do there is even an open
report about GD (which is solved as of 5.3.0+ :).

for everyone else, this is a bug report about the embedded sapi and
nothing else, so please keep anything unrelated to this out of the
bug report.  as it is i'm already considering trashing the bug report
and opening a new one because of all the bad blood.  in the meantime
please refer to my previous post (#50) for what our current position
on this is (no time to do so, possible technical concerns, someone else
will have to do the legwork and it will be after squeeze at soonest).

About embed, I also think it is prematur to bring it to a stable
package. It needs some changes to be useful (for ex. split init
functions so it can be used with embedded server more efficiently).
Maybe a good start would be to contribute directly to PHP and add some
tests for this SAPI. Once we reached a stable state, distros can then
consider to bring it to their users.

The main problem is lack of good documentation and examples for

Bug#571491:

2010-03-01 Thread Mathieu Malaterre
reassign 571491 vtk
thanks

Ok here is the summary.

In order to build the VTK-GDCM extension, GDCM needs a pre-installed
copy of VTK on the target machine. In this case a VTK 5.4 compiled
against python2.5 was found.

When building the VTK-GDCM extension, GDCM does not do anything bug
simply passing the exact same compilation flags (thanks to cmake) from
VTK to the VTK-GDCM extension.
In this case:

$ grep python /usr/lib/vtk-5.4/VTKConfig.cmake
SET(VTK_INCLUDE_DIRS
${VTK_INSTALL_PREFIX}/include/vtk-5.4;/usr/include;/usr/include;/usr/include;/usr/include;/usr/include;/usr/include;/usr/include;/usr/include;/usr/include;/usr/include;/usr/include;/usr/include;/usr/include;/usr/include;/usr/include;/usr/include;/usr/include;/usr/include;/usr/lib/openmpi/include;/usr/lib/openmpi/include/openmpi;/usr/include/tcl8.5;/usr/include/python2.5;/usr/include/tcl8.5;/usr/lib/jvm/default-java/include;/usr/lib/jvm/default-java/include;/usr/lib/jvm/default-java/include;/usr/include;/usr/include;/usr/include;/usr/include;/usr/include;/usr/include/libxml2;/usr/include;/usr/include/freetype2)
SET(VTK_PYTHONPATH_DIRS
/usr/lib/python2.5/site-packages;/usr/lib/python2.5/site-packages)

So VTK-GDCM is only an extension of VTK. Thus whenever VTK will
compile with python2.6, VTK-GDCM should compile just fine (the
previous errors was reported against a VTK header).

Reassigning to VTK package.

Bug#572046: phpmyadmin table and user not created while upgrading though dbconfig-common was enabled

2010-03-01 Thread Benjamin S.
Package: phpmyadmin
Version: 4:3.2.5-2
Severity: normal

The dialog about dbconfig-common creates the impression that it will create the
table and user directly. But they are not created before I manually call
dpkg-reconfigure phpmyadmin which asks me some questions needed to create the
table and user. I think these questions should already be asked while upgrading.

I could reproduce that problem by upgrading a lenny chroot with mysql and
phpmyadmin to squeeze. The reason is surely the priority like the README.Debian
mentioned it because the default priority of debconf is high.

If the priority problem will not be fixed it would be at least good to add a
note to the first dialog about dbconfig-common that this option will not
necessarily create the table and user and dpkg-reconfigure has to be called if
not.

It would be also ok to lower the priority of the dbconfig-common question and
thus there would be no wrong impression.

I guess the 0 in Domain0 should be kept to avoid confusion. Something
like this might be good enough.

perhaps the code behind 'virsh uri' can be used?

I'd like to know first if anyone is working on this issue ?

I don't think anyone is actively working on this.  I think EXPORT
rules appear in a few places for host tools during cross compiling.

If not what are the steps:

 1. Remove EXPORT_LIBRARY_DEPENDENCIES() call and replace with
 install(EXPORT VTKEXPORTNAME ...)
 2. Add EXPORT VTKEXPORTNAME to all install(vtkpng|vtktiff|vtkzlib|vtkIO|...)
 3. Tweaks (?) VTKConfig.cmake to start using VTKEXPORTNAME.cmake
 instead of VTKLibDep.cmake.

That's basically it, except for whatever is needed to maintain
 compatibility.

I have prepared a patch for (1) (2) and (3). It is available at:

http://gdcm.svn.sf.net/viewvc/gdcm/Sandbox/VTK/vtk.export.libs.patch

I'd appreciate if you could comment on it. Did I miss anything ?

I made the name configurable so that shared libs (eg. metaio) in
between ITK and VTK can configure there exact name separately.

Thanks,

version 4.6-1 to version 4.7-2 (from unstable) I cannot reproduce this bug
anymore. We should maybe re-assign this bug to python-qt4 version 4.6-1.

Bug#572048: tomcat6: fails to start after upgrade to v6.0.24-2

2010-03-01 Thread Teodor
Package: tomcat6
Version: 6.0.24-2
Severity: grave
Justification: renders package unusable

Hi,

After todays upgrade to v6.0.24-2 due to migration to 'testing' the tomcat6
service
doesn't start anymore. I've tried a fresh install and there is no difference.
I see that 'jscv' is no longer used and 'authbind' is disabled by default, thus
'catalina.sh' upstream script is used instead. I believe this is a major
regression
since 'jsvc' is the only alternative for running a java-baser program as a
service.
The upstream 'catalina.sh' shell script doesn't make use of 'jsvc' because it is
not available on all platforms, this script is meant to be portable on all
Linux/
UNIX hosts.

Another issue is that the execution of 'catalina.sh' should also be redirected
to
STDOUT/STDERR to avoid these informative lines:
| Starting Tomcat servlet engine: tomcat6Using CATALINA_BASE: /var/lib/tomcat6
| Using CATALINA_HOME: /usr/share/tomcat6
| Using CATALINA_TMPDIR: /tmp/tomcat6-tmp
| Using JRE_HOME:/usr/lib/jvm/java-6-openjdk
| Using CLASSPATH: /usr/share/tomcat6/bin/bootstrap.jar
| failed!
| invoke-rc.d: initscript tomcat6, action start failed.

Thanks

Since installing the kernel 2.6.33, I have under X dropouts about every 10
seconds the screen (black screen), and visible image disturbances. Under
these conditions, it can not be working on the PC. With the kernel 2.6.32, I
 have no such problems.

So the bug is in the kernel ? Not in xserver-xorg-video-intel ?

 just fix your packaging please.

The main problem is lack of good documentation and examples for

 Build-Depend on python2.5 or python-all and write 2.5 into debian/pyversions
 and
use `pyversions -r` as Python versions to build with?

I am fine with supporting python2.5 and python2.6 (and any other
version of python which pyversion -vs lists). It's just little bit
hacking to not recompile whole library for each version of python and
recompile just needed bits.

I am also unsure what to put in debian/python-ldns.dirs and
debian/python-ldns.install. So I have removed python-ldns.dirs
altogether, and python-ldns.install contains
/usr/lib/python*/site-packages/ldns/.

Bug#572049: please support dnssec for sshfp lookups

2010-03-01 Thread Peter Palfrader
Package: openssh-client

Hi,

now that eglibc supports RES_USE_DNSSEC in experimental (cf #569592),
the version which - AIUI - should eventually end up in squeeze, it would
be nice if Debian's ssh client could make use of that when resolving a
host's sshfp record.

Fedora has a small patch against openssh's dns code at
https://cvs.fedoraproject.org/viewvc/F-12/openssh/openssh-5.2p1-edns.patch?revision=1.1view=markup

When this patch is applied to ssh and ssh is built against a 2.11 glibc,
then ssh will no longer prompt for verification of ssh hostkeys if they
are both secured by dnssec and the user selected to trust the dns (-o
VerifyHostKeyDNS=yes).

| [sid] wea...@intrepid:~$ ssh -vv -o VerifyHostKeyDNS=yes ravel.debian.org
..
| debug1: found 1 secure fingerprints in DNS
| debug1: matching host key fingerprint found in DNS
..

Please consider applying that patch, or doing whatever else is necessary
so that ssh makes proper use of sshfp records.

Thanks,
weasel

You should be able to fix this problem by putting a full path to a script

If this fixes the problem for you, I'll proceed in fixing the manpage about

This does not seem to be fixing the problem.

2010-03-01 Thread Michal Čihař

Hi

Dne Mon, 01 Mar 2010 10:01:17 +0100
Benjamin S. da_jo...@gmx.net napsal(a):

The dialog about dbconfig-common creates the impression that it will create
the table and user directly. But they are not created before I manually call
dpkg-reconfigure phpmyadmin which asks me some questions needed to create the
table and user. I think these questions should already be asked while
 upgrading.

I could reproduce that problem by upgrading a lenny chroot with mysql and
phpmyadmin to squeeze. The reason is surely the priority like the
README.Debian mentioned it because the default priority of debconf is high.

If the priority problem will not be fixed it would be at least good to add a
note to the first dialog about dbconfig-common that this option will not
necessarily create the table and user and dpkg-reconfigure has to be called
 if not.

It would be also ok to lower the priority of the dbconfig-common question and
thus there would be no wrong impression.

I don't see anything specific to phpMyAdmin in this report, it is just
generic way how dbconfig-common behaves. Reassigning appropriately.

Bug#569341: same for ^W

2010-03-01 Thread Craig Sanders
every time i login to a debian VM on the console using virt-manager, i
type and edit command lines in bash. one of the most important editing
keys in bash is ^W (delete prev word). every time i do that, the console
is closed. using ^W while editing command lines is a long-ingrained
habit, so i do it repeatedly during any session.

this is, to put it very mildly, extremely annoying.

the virt-manager console window does not need and should not have
keybindings for its menus. all key-strokes (except for Ctrl-Alt to
release the pointer) should be sent to the VM exactly as typed.

at the very least, menu keybindings should be a configurable option. i
don't care much what the default is, as long as there's a way for me to
turn them all off.

Hi,

for me the bug appears to have gone, but I can't tell since exactly
which version of either epiphany-browser nor libwekit. But I'm glad
everything appears to be working again ;)

From my point of view you can close the bug.

Thanks - Fuddl

Bug#567472: wicd: does not connect to my hidden (and unencrypted) wifi network

2010-03-01 Thread David Paleino

You should be able to fix this problem by putting a full path to a script

different from Bash, if you wish -- it's run by python's
   subprocess.Popen()).

If this fixes the problem for you, I'll proceed in fixing the manpage
  about it.

This does not seem to be fixing the problem.

 with params
 2010/03/01 15:37:07 :: '/home/rrs/bin/vpnc-wicd.sh post-connect' returned
  127

Ok, maybe I didn't explain myself clearly enough :).
Don't put any whitespace in those fields; they're supposed to executed ONE
command, with no arguments.
Try making a vpnc-wicd-postconnect.sh and vpnc-wicd-postdisconnect.sh, and see
if those work. Yes, I agree we should make it safer, and document the whole
thing better. And maybe find a better solution for you ;)

I also discovered some more problems. I populated the an ESSID with
pre/post script details. Later, I removed the Pre-XX setting. But on
re-looking at the window I could see the same value back. The setting
wasn't being removed at all. I had to go and edit the setting in the
  /etc/wicd/wireless-settings.conf file ultimately.

This is a separate bug, please file a new one, and we'll investigate that too.

Haven't tried it again as wicd is a critical package for me that provides
me the network service. Just want to get my network working. :-(
Perhaps we should have a more conservative policy for such core packages.

I don't consider wicd a core package -- I consider it rather young to be
core, but I'm sure you're not the only one considering it so :)

Unfortunately, the scripting mechanism is barely documented, and I agree this
is an important bug to be solved ASAP. I'm sorry it doesn't just work out-of-
the-box for you; but maybe it's just a misunderstanding of you, plus a heavy
lack of documentation.

See:

$ cat foo.py
from wicd.misc import ExecuteScript

ExecuteScript(/bin/echo foo, True)
ExecuteScript(whoami, True)
$ python foo.py
Executing '/bin/echo foo' with params
'/bin/echo foo' returned 127
Executing whoami with params
whoami returned 0
$

This explains the bug you're facing. You're passing arguments inside the
connection script field -- the text you enter there is passed to
ExecuteScript(). This could also be the reason why it worked with 1.6.2.2 -- I
don't remember any ExecuteScript() there, just a misc.Run() function which
worked differently. But I haven't really checked this, just ideas.

Ok, let's solve your problem now.
If you need some arguments, the {pre,post}-{dis,}connect scripts you specify
get some passed:

  a) if it's a wired interface, the script you give is passed with wired
wired wired (it's just really for compatibility with the wireless one)
  b) if it's a wireless, the script is passed wireless essid bssid

And yes, this is totally undocumented ;/.

Regarding your original bug: I forgot to say that all this could be avoided,
just by dropping sudo.. scripts are executed by the user running the daemon,
i.e. root. However, it's been useful to investigate how scripts work a bit
better :)

If you still have problems, after dropping sudo from your original command,
or after passing just ONE script, with no arguments, in the given fields, then
this really is a weird serious bug. But I hope/think this will not be the case
:)

Kindly,
David

Bug#567323: not fixed yet

2010-03-01 Thread Stanisław Baran
5.1.22-3 works as expected on my system (following the steps in the
original
bug report works perfectly, no trapped cursor), which is making it very
difficult for me to test any further fixes!

What version of xserver-xorg-core do you have installed?

I had problems while using xserver-xorg-core 2:1.7.4-2. After
downgrading to 2:1.4.2-10.lenny2 (current package from stable release)
grace works again.

Sorry for the .changes file, though. It was mistakenly listing all
versions of uptimed because of a bug in my ~/.pbuilderrc file.

No big deal, shit happens...

BTW, do you know that I am a (very happy) uptimed user since it exists
as a Debian package. It indeed recorded most of my uptime records on
various servers, up to 2 years for one of them.

That's cool!

I should probably consider helping in the package maintainance,
 indeed.

Well as you could probably tell from the bug reports, the one area
where I could totally use some help is debconf. I'm no debconf addict,
let alone guru, and I have to confess I did let all the debconf bugs
that the package had when I took over the way they were.

There are also a couple code issues for which I couldn't get a
clearcut answer from upstream, but I think those are lower priority.

In any case, help is most welcome.

Thanks

I get screen corruption with KMS and suspend to disk.

After resume most stuff is blurred by seemingly random noise.

Can you try 2.6.33 ? Packages are coming to experimental.

I'll probably upload a new git snapshot of the radeon driver to
experimental during the week-end.

2.6.33 does not configure and panics on boot for me. Perhaps next release.

Thus, when i said about the Samba Team point of view (if not about it's

having the module's source in the upstream Samba itself.

If so, the bug should be resolved and i'd move to Samba devel lists.

Bug#572011: xserver-xorg-video-radeon: After an update the display going out of normal band

2010-03-01 Thread Biagio Alessandro Testa
Today i've seen if i change my resolution(ever used) the problem ends. It's
strage because 1152x864 is a resolution supported. So i've scaled to
1024x768 and it worked fine, now i've turned it to 1152x864 again and in two
hours nothing happens and i can do all thing without problems.

Seriously ? No. It's not even a crash, which would only be important
  :)

It renders opengl unuseable, trust me ;-).

Under linux-2.6.33 with kms enabled I get serious display corruption
as soon as I do opengl stuff, i.e. starting glxgears. After
terminating glxgears, the corruption vanishes sometimes.
The corruption looks like wrong timings looked way back as we had
analogous displays, want to say, the picture seems to cycle through.

With 2.6.32.7+kms everything works fine. I did not yet check, wether
the same happens with .33 w/o kms.

The machine is a Lenovo Z61m, mobile x1400 chipset.
The xserver log below is not from 2.6.33, I can create one if needed.

Why do you report against xserver-xorg-video-radeon if 2.6.33 seems to
 be the breaker here ?

Eh? It might also be an error in xserver-xorg-video-radeon. And given the
fact that there is no 2.6.33 packagage atm, where else should I report?

Which mesa do you have, by the way ?

Oops. That did not show up in the dependencies?

If OpenGL is enabled, you could
compare Mesa 7.6.1 (in testing) and 7.7 (in unstable) in case you see a
 difference.

It's 7.7. But I'll test that soon.

Bug#536725: k3b: won't burn data track in mixed CDs

Hi,

where it states it was searching for the last session (no CD reload!).

Popcon support is something that has been asked again just yesterday.

From a quick look at its sources, it looks like mouseemu never sends
EV_SYN events to the kernel for its keyboard device, and the evdev X
driver expects those before it sends any events to the X server. I'm
not sure which is buggy here.

 mouseemu.

EV_SYN marks the end of an event, so if the device never send one that's
buggy. especially with multitouch support in the kernel now, EV_SYN is even
more important as each event may contain multiple sub-events.

Yeah, looks like it, my evdev patch didn't work anyway.

pm-powersave without any option behaves like pm-powersave true on desktop
machines because if on_ac_power; then at line 47 is true if on_ac_power
returns 0 (=on main power) and not if it returns 255 (=Power status could

err, it's exactly the same with i915.  You can't unload it before

  2.6.32-9, which turns VT_HW_CONSOLE_BINDING on.

I don't see any difference. It doesn't just work. If I am supposed to
rebind the vgacon driver manually then I have no idea how.

Yes, you need to unbind radeon manually to be able to unload it.

 Is this documented somewhere?

I don't know. Probably. I have no idea why anyone would want to do
that anyway.

I tried to restore my setup with radeonfb but it no longer loads for
me automatically and I found there is no documentation whatsoever for
 radeonfb :-S

You don't want to use radeonfb.

Bug#516785: linux-image-2.6.26-1-sparc64-smp: [sparc] SunFire480R cassini network driver kernel panic

2010-03-01 Thread David Miller
From: Hermann Lauer hermann.la...@iwr.uni-heidelberg.de

What can be done to debug this further ?

Nothing really, I just simply have no time to look into it
with all the other things on my plate, sorry.

Bug#571458: libeb13 4.4.2-1 changes ABI?

   $ eblook /usr/local/share/dict/srd-fpw
   zsh: segmentation fault eblook /usr/local/share/dict/srd-fpw

I've tried to build eblook with libeb13 4.4.2-2, then eblook is
 usable with libeb13 4.4.2-2:

   $ eblook /usr/local/share/dict/srd-fpw
   eblook

Hmm, I couldn't reproduce this bug. On my i386 box, eblook
1:1.6.1-3 and 1:1.6.1-4 built with libeb13 4.4.1-1 work with
libeb13 4.4.2-1 nicely.

Motoyuki, does the eb 4.4.2 package really break the binary compatibility?
If so, the SONAME version should be bumped up.

Thanks,

Here on amd64 private browsing doesn't work. When 'Private Browsing' gets

It works for me on amd64. Can you check in safe mode ?

 Mike
Ok, I tested it in safe mode and additionally with a new/empty user
profile. Same problem. Do you have any recommendations
 for further testing?
Check Tools Error console when you enable private browsing.

Thanks, I spotted the problem.
Upgrading xulrunner-1.9.1 to the version currently in unstable should
fix the problem.

I would very much like to have an additional python2.6-uno. After glancing
at debian/rules I feel unable to provide patches though.
