Bug#536376: evas: Not suitable for testing yet

2010-08-03 Thread Timo Jyrinki

Since it's been over a year now I'd like to ask whether the above is
still true? Or do you think that evas is `stable enough' nowadays, so
that it could migrate to testing?

I think it's probably still volatile, but as there starts to be
applications using E17 in Debian and using E17 seems relatively
problem-free, I'm not sure if it makes sense not to allow E17 + apps to
migrate to testing. Well, the E team has the last word in this anyway.

Of course, if it would be known that The Release is just around the corner
(like it has been for years), it could make sense to actually wait for it.

Bug#591030: bcfg2-server init scripts are a complete mess

2010-08-03 Thread Tuomas Noraef
Hi Arto,

Tested your patch, and all pretty seems a lot better. No more
multi-spawning of the daemon, no more PID file chainsawing... seems
good.

Just two things I noted :

- first thing in the stop stanza : the 15 seconds timeout to switch
from SIGTERM to SIGKILL may be a bit long, especially until the server
is patched to send the SIGTERM to its worker thread, but I don't know
: maybe it is a Debian guideline or something. I'll leave that up to
you to decide : just noting a systematic (at least for now) 15 seconds
is a tad long to wait, especially when testing things with the server
(did quite a few bcfg2-server restarts when I first tested SSL
bi-lateral authentication, and, well, this partly was already because
of that I had removed the 5 seconds sleep there was in the old init
script... so 15 seconds... : 5 seconds could be sufficient, I guess).

- other thing is in the status stanza : you make the init script
exit with a 3 error code, if the server was not running, which
outputs something like :

bcfg2-server is not running
invoke-rc.d: initscript bcfg2-server, action status failed.

the second line of which I am not so sure is useful... basically, you
make the init script exit with a non-zero error code, even though it
is not the culprit, the bcfg2-server at most being the one : the
action status did not failed in itself - in that case, it only
failed our hopes, mostly. Maybe the status stanza should exit with a
0 code whatever happens, and use a log_daemon_msg to signal
anything, would you find the need to ?

What do you think of these two suggestions ?

Oh, by the way : the FAM worker thread seems to end up dying on its
own once the server is stopped. I hadn't checked this with my patched
init script, but it already did (takes a few dozen seconds), and does
it as well with yours. So this zombie doesn't crawl very far once the
bcfg2-server is killed, which is a good thing to note.

Anyway, thanks for caring this bug, and maintaining bcfg2 in Debian :
after testing a bit more, I really felt in love with it (a few gripes,
like documentation [already bought the Sage short topics which is
rather good, albeit a tad outdated and, well... short], the
disappearance of a native agent-mode, XML [still... though I am
already trying to craft some XML files through auto-templating]...
but, still : IMHO far better than anything else I tried, and I tried
pretty much everything else in this domain). Oh, and thanks for
ditching the use of the LSB init-functions, unwrapping the
start-stop-daemon from these horrors : highly appreciated :p

Farewell.

http://cgit.freedesktop.org/udisks/commit/?id=c2464f7bf215cd17962e917b974c573378d4e58b

Doing

manually, should show in the log what's causing the messages.

Bug#559364: [RFC]: Bug#559364: regression: console text is red

2010-08-03 Thread Petr Salinger

I dig into. The tput op does not do what is expected.

The our 8.x kernel series have added following options:

# UTF-8 console support
options VESA
options SC_PIXEL_MODE # add support for the raster text mode
options TEKEN_UTF8 # UTF-8 output handling
options TEKEN_XTERM # xterm-style terminal emulation

But the TERM settings is not xterm, but still cons25.
It suffices to change cons25 into xterm in src/init.c
and debian/share/inittab.kfreebsd-gnu in source package sysvinit.

Thanks for investigating.

It's probably the way to go. xterm also brings partial support for
UTF-8, and we are likely to deprecate (remove ?) 7.x kernel for squeeze.

I did some minimal checking, by changing TERM to xterm on the console
and it seems at least arrow keys stop working correctly on ncurses
programs.

I confirm the issue here, so it seems we have to revert the options in
the kernel. That's a pitty because the goal was to use the UTF-8
terminal to be able to have non-english language in debian-installer.

I looked into HEAD, it have changes:

SVN rev 197115 on 2009-09-12 10:34:34Z by ed
- Make 8-bit support run-time configurable.

SVN rev 197117 on 2009-09-12 12:44:21Z by ed
- Make xterm/cons25 support runtime configurable.

SVN rev 197481 on 2009-09-25 13:51:01Z by ed
- Add a new escape sequence to switch between cons25 and xterm.
- Just run this to switch to xterm:
printf '\e[=T'
- If you get bored and want to switch back to cons25, run this:
printf '\e[=1T'

So 1st step would be revert kernel config to 8-STABLE default.
We still could later do backport of teken/syscons changes from HEAD
and teach installer how to switch into XTERM, given there will be
man-power for this.

Bug#591445: system comes up with empty resolv.conf

2010-08-03 Thread Itai Seggev
Package: resolvconf
Version: 1.46
Severity: normal

I think I've had this issue for a while (2-3 months?) but only recently traced
it to resolvconf. This may or may not be related to #563386 resolvconf:
Error: /etc/resolvconf/run/interface is not a directory. I get that same
error message, but I've never had dnsmasq installed, and this didn't used to be
a problem. At any rate, my system comes up with an empty resolv.conf (or
perhaps one simply containing the head, I think). Statd takes forever to come
up, which I think is related to this problem. Once I'm logged in, doing a
ifdown eth0; ifup eth0 will bring the desired resolv.conf. (I have a static
eth0 with dns-* entires in /etc/network/interfaces.)

Sorry I can't be more specific; any help would be appreciated.

Bug#591371: wpa_supplicant: update to 0.7 branch

2010-08-03 Thread kel
 Package: wpasupplicant
 Severity: wishlist

0.7 stable branch of wpasupplicant has been already created and first
stable release from that branch is getting closer:

 http://hostap.epitest.fi/gitweb/gitweb.cgi?p=hostap-07.git;a=summary

It would be nice to get the new wpasupplicant to debian experimental for
early testing. I did a quick update of wpasupplicant and version
 0.7.2-0ubuntu1~kvalo1 is available here:

 https://launchpad.net/~kvalo/+archive/ppa/+packages

Maybe that version can be used as bases for the update? Or is there a
0.7 version of wpasupplicant packaged somewhere already?

If there's anyway I can help with the update, please let me know.

Use debcheckout to grab what is in our packaging VCS - build the package
from that checkout. Feedback welcome.

Kel.

Bug#590858: RFP: bootchart2 -- An improved boot process performance analyser

2010-08-03 Thread kel
 Hello Kel,

i've opened an rfp for bootchart2 and Petter Reinholdtsen informed me
that you have already started to package it but run out of time. So
what's the status of the packaging process? Do you have something online
 somewhere?

I experimented with an alternative way to start/stop the daemon than
bootchartd or any initscripts but never got too much momentum with it.

Any patches I made were upstreamed - none of my packaging is anywhere
online afaik and I am not currently able to do that (the machine
the code reside on is offline for home renovations).

Thanks, Kel.

Turning on my box, I see the monitor claiming no video output.
Checking video cable, I see it was not fully plugged and fixed that,
but got no change.  Logging remotely I see (log below) that the server
indeed failed to start because of this.  Restarting gdm fixed the
  problem.

It is a very unfriendly behaviour indeed.  Google shows people with
other video chips got a similar issue, so indeed the problem may not
be specific to the radeon driver, please reassign as see fit.

Unfortunately, if there is no monitor plugged in, the driver has no
way of know what's connected, so it has no idea what connectors to
light up.  That said, in xserver 1.9, the xserver will start with a
default 1024x768 framebuffer and no connected outputs, and if you are
using kms and a hotplug enabled driver, you will get an event when a
 monitor finally gets plugged in.

That's more like what I'd have expected.  Can be considered fixed-upstream ?

I suppose so, although only kms drivers will work properly in that scenario.

Bug#581194: libpoe-component-irc-perl: Insufficient stripping of CR/LF allows arbitrary IRC command execution

2010-08-03 Thread Ansgar Burchardt
Hi,

I did not get an answer from the security team for longer than a week
now. Maybe the mail did get lost somewhere?

Regards,
Ansgar

Ansgar Burchardt ans...@43-1.org writes:

POE::Component::IRC did not validate the arguments of commands to send
to the IRC server. If a user could trick a bot into sending a string
containing \r or \n, this would allow injection or arbitrary IRC
commands. This was fixed upstream in versions 6.14, 6.30 and finally
 solved in 6.32.

Lenny is also affected from this problem. It can be reproduced using
the attached minimalistic IRC bot in 581194.pl: using
libpoe-component-perl from Lenny the bot will exit from IRC after
seeing a message in #test-1234 and replying to it.

I prepared a patch using the same fix as upstream introduced in 6.32:
stripping \r and \n and any following characters from commands being
send. Upstream confirmed in IRC that this should be enough to fix the
 bug.

Security Team: Should we upload the proposed fix to stable-security or
should this rather be fixed in the next point release of Lenny?

Hi,

I have an Asus F3JA-AP061H and my webcam still has some troubles with Linux.
The quality and refresh rate on Linux is quite good (it is very close to the
quality of proprietary driver that I use on Windows).
But when I close a program that use it, the led (the one that show if the
webcam is turned on) remain turned on.
I don't know if the webcam is still working or not.
Led turns off only after a complete shutdown of the laptop (not a reboot).

This bug always afflicts my laptop this is not a recent issue.

to do a little bit more to get things working. You need to regenerate the
configure file (with autoreconf for instance) so that this change is
taken into account.

Bug#591030: bcfg2-server init scripts are a complete mess

2010-08-03 Thread Arto Jantunen
Hi Tuomas,

Tuomas Noraef tnor...@gmail.com writes:

Agreed, 15 seconds is a long time to wait for something that will never
happen. There are a few reasons, though. Just straight up killing the daemon
can be dangerous (it can for example stop it from writing some of it's
database files completely, and corrupt the repository), and should not be done
lightly. Under normal conditions the daemon is unlikely to require 15 seconds
to stop properly, but under heavy io load or other less normal conditions it
could take long. Since the daemon does not exit after receiving the TERM
signal (due to the bugs), we have no way of knowing when it is actually done,
and I prefer to be safe than sorry.

I'm hoping that version 1.1 comes out with the fix for the actual bug before
it's too late to get it into squeeze, or that I manage to backport the bugfix
to the current version. I'm not willing to release with an RC version.

The Debian Policy does not currently define the init script status action at
all, but the LSB standard does. Returning 3 when the daemon is not running is
what the LSB expects, and I prefer to stay relatively close to the standard
(it also requires other return codes for cases when the pid file exists but
the daemon is not running and such, but I haven't bothered to implement those
yet). See
http://refspecs.freestandards.org/LSB_3.1.1/LSB-Core-generic/LSB-Core-generic/iniscrptact.html
for the init script part of LSB.

The documentation situation is hopefully improving, there are people working
on it upstream currently. I'm not really a fan of XML either, but Bcfg2 does
work very well for what I'm doing with it.

I'll mark this bug as pending for the time being, there are a few other issues
I want to address before uploading (including the no longer existing agent
mode).

Bug#591455: fails to enumerate interfaces not ending in a digit

2010-08-03 Thread martin f krafft
Package: munin-node
Version: 1.4.5-1
Severity: minor
File: /usr/share/munin/plugins/if_
Tags: patch

Munin uses the following regexp to suggest device names from
/proc/net/dev:

  /^ *(eth|tap|bond|wlan|ath|ra|sw|vlan|venet|veth|msh)[0-9]+(\.[0-9]+)?:/

The days of silly device names are over, as udev allows for easy and
consistent static renaming, and various user-space use freely-named
TUN devices (e.g. iodine, kvm, bluez, etc.).

Instead of the awk expression, might I suggest the following to
obtain the names of interfaces?

  sed -rne 's,^[[:space:]]*([^:]+):.*,\1,p' /proc/net/dev

If you want to exclude certain interfaces, e.g. lo or sit*, then use this:

  sed -rne
'/^[[:space:]]*(lo|sit[[:digit:]]+):/d;s,^[[:space:]]*([^:]+):.*,\1,p'
/proc/net/dev

Thanks,

Bug#591457: apt-cross dependency calculation broken in non English locales

2010-08-03 Thread Francois Gouget
Package: apt-cross
Version: 0.13.4
Severity: important

I run Debian in a French locale and this causes apt-cross to not find any
dependency. To reproduce run this test (you may need to first add the French
locale with dpkg-reconfigure locales):

# LANG=fr_FR.UTF-8 apt-cross -a i386 -n -i libxt-dev
The following NEW packages will be built and installed:
 libxt-dev
0 to be upgraded, 1 to be newly installed.

# LANG= apt-cross -a i386 -n -i libxt-dev

x11proto-input-dev x11proto-kb-dev xtrans-dev
0 to be upgraded, 30 to be newly installed.

Needless to say, this makes apt-cross essentially unusable if one does not know
the magic 'LANG=' workaround, hence the priority 'important'.

This bug is also present in apt-cross 0.12.0 (in Debian 5.0.5).

If the official kernel has finally switched to libata this should no
longer be an issue as well as various other breakage caused by the old
ide drivers. It is certainly so for the 2.6.34-1 kernel, not sure

The switch to libata was done in 2.6.32-10.

I was able to unload the whole libata stack and reload it without
issues (while booted from network).

Also reloading the cdrom stack while using the disk works fine.

sigh :/

I imagine I was a bit too optimistic, there is still some bug around,
even if the driver is a lot more stable: I got a crash yesterday when
watching a video while closing an iceweasel, which put the small geode
under a lot of stress. The backtrace is just the same as before.

Bug#591431: erlang 14.a breaks ejabberd

2010-08-03 Thread Marc Dequènes (Duck)

Coin,

Quoting Sergei Golovan sgolo...@nes.ru:

Please, check if ejabberd 2.1.4-1 from sid works with erlang 1:14.a-dfsg-2.

I forgot to say i tested 2.1.4-1, and i'm now using it with erlang
1:13.b.4-dfsg-6 successfully.

erlang-abi-13.a means that binary interface to C programs is compatible with
Erlang R13A, which is true. So, it isn'r the bug source.

That was to check if the provides field was correctly reflecting reality.

I suppose the code in question is related to X509 certificates used
for SSL, but i see no other error message in the log except for an
unrelated minor pubsub problem and all SSL connections work well (c2s,
s2s, ejabberd web-interface with SSL).

It may also be related to LDAP, but authentication works perfectly.

I was using ejabberd 2.1.3-2 with 1:13.b.4-dfsg-5 on another node and
saw no such problems. I upgraded to 2.1.4-1 with the same erlang
version and it's ok. I may try to upgrade erlang on this node at night
to try to reproduce the problem.

If you think this is not a widespread problem, feel free to downgrade
severity. I just don't know what would be the next step to debug, so
please help me if you can.

Regards.

Bug#589832: xserver-xorg-input-wacom: Bamboo Pen Touch not supported

2010-08-03 Thread Michal Suchanek
Hello

The tablet requires the latest wacom X driver release for touch
support (the driver in Debian is too old). I tried 0.10.7 and
currently 0.10.8 is available. The version in Debian is 0.10.5.

The kernel driver in 2.6.34 kernel is too old and does not recognize
the tablet at all.

It is possible to update the driver from the linuxwacom sources (tried
0.8.8-7, currently 0.8.8-8 is available). However, the driver does not
compile against linux-headers. Full compiled kernel source is required
to build the driver. Alternatively the wacom.c and supporting files
could be probably patched in the Debian kernel.

Thanks

Michal

Bug#591459: ibus: breaks compose key

Coin,

I recently switched from scim to ibus, and it works well. I'm also
using im-config instead of im-switch. But i discovered the compose key
does not work anymore. In fact, after a few tries, i found it works
perfectly in several GNOME applications but not in urxvt/xterm/..., so
it may be related to the XIM method.

Using xev, i got the following:

Bug#463518: Can we mitigate this bug with appropriate LSB init

John, there's also the shutdown issue: we should ensure that the chrony
stop script is executed before the hwclock stop script, during a
shutdown.
Hence an essential part is

  # Should-Stop: hwclock

See http://bugs.debian.org/407466#57

I reiterate: you should add hwclock to the Should-Start and
Should-Stop fields!
Or maybe $time (which seems to be currently only provided by hwclock,
anyway: see /etc/insserv.conf).

Please review bug #407466 (and possibly #541806), before concluding
that all the LSB-header-related issues are solved...

check in a second console with ps axf if there are any child processes
 of the udevds.
Also try udevadm settle --timeout=0 and report any output.

Bug#500732: cups ignores duplex setting in postscript files

2010-08-03 Thread Matti Laakso
Hi,

We're being bit by the same bug. Duplex setting is respected when
printing from Linux clients, but through samba it gets reset to default
somewhere along the way.

However, it seems that there may be two separate bugs: At least in our
case pstops is not the culprit, since bypassing it with

cups options = document-format=application/vnd.cups-postscript

does not help. Also, jobs from Linux clients go through pstops as well.
The problem is in foomatic-rip instead. Its log shows lines of the form

Option: Duplex=DuplexNoTumble -- Correcting numerical/string option to
Duplex=None (Command line argument)

when printing from Windows clients. Using PCL drivers on Windows works,
since then also foomatic is bypassed.

Regards,
Matti Laakso

Bug#591311: serpentine fails to start due to an assertion error

2010-08-03 Thread Gerfried Fuchs
severity 591311 important
tags 591311 + unreproducible moreinfo

Hi!

* Luis Mochan wlmoc...@gmail.com [2010-08-02 04:50:12 CEST]:
When I start serpentine from the menu, it shows a 'starting' status and
dissapears after a few seconds. If I start it from a terminal It prints the
 following error:

 moc...@fmunu:~$ serpentine
 Traceback (most recent call last):
File /usr/bin/serpentine, line 109, in module
 assert path.isdir(locations.lib)
 AssertionError

 and then it dies.

It starts like it should over here on a lenny/stable system. From the
information you provided with your bugreport it seems like you are on
squeeze/testing or sid/unstable. Please notice that serpentine isn't
included in those releases anymore and AIUI is to be replaced by
brasero.

The issue starting it might be related to the python transition from
2.5 to 2.6 and it might well be that it doesn't work properly with
python 2.6. Like mentioned above, serpentine isn't included anymore in
squeeze/sid.

If you agree we can close this bugreport - I am at least demoting it
back to important because the issue doesn't seem to be existing in
stable.

 Thanks,
Rhonda

strukturze typu ao_sample_format.

Po dodaniu w funkcji play_libao z pliku ydpsound.c poniżej linijki:
  format.matrix = NULL;
błąd naruszenia ochrony pamięci już się nie pojawia.

Hello,

OK, I'll keep an eye on this when I create the new package. I'd wait a bit
for GCC-4.5 to enter unstable, hopefully it'll fix bug #588923 too.

Bug#591465: epiphany-extensions: README file not interesting to the end user

2010-08-03 Thread Siegfried-Angel Gevatter Pujals
Package: epiphany-extensions
Severity: wishlist

Dear maintainers,

This is just a minor nit-pick, but the upstream README file in
epiphany-extensions only contains information about how to compile the
package, and therefore it is of no interest for end users. I believe
it shouldn't be included in the binary package.

Kind regards,

Bug#460730: prelink: affects ocamlnet package too

2010-08-03 Thread Török Edwin
Package: prelink
Version: 0.0.20090925-1
Severity: important

This is still a bug.

For example binaries from ocamlnet are broken.
When reinstalling libocamlnet-ocaml-bin netplex-admin works:
$ netplex-admin --help
Usage: netplex-admin [ options ] [ admin_cmd arg ... ]
-sockdir dir Set the socket directory of the Netplex to administer
  -list List available Netplex services
  -enable name Enable service name
  -disable name Disable service name
  -restart name Restart service name
  -restart-all Restart all services
  -shutdown Shutdown the whole Netplex
  -reopen-logfiles Reopen logfiles (if possible)
-receiver pat Restrict receivers of admin messages to services matching
pat
-help Display this list of options
--help Display this list of options

After prelinking its broken:
$ sudo prelink /usr/bin/netplex-admin
$ netplex-admin
No bytecode file specified.

Using *.byte as blacklisted pattern for prelink wouldn't work, because
netplex-admin doesn't end in .byte.

Prelink should check for OCaml magic number in the ELF file, and if found don't
prelink!

Mixed bytecode/native executables can be recognized by the magic number
Caml1999X008
at the END of the file.

Bug#561994: [mplayer] Still reproducible in rc4?

2010-08-03 Thread Reinhard Tartler
Package: mplayer
Version: 2:1.0~rc3++final-0ubuntu3~lucid1~ppa1

Hi Eduard,

I don't have a multichannel setup at all, so I cannot really test this
issue myself. However, I've now uploaded a preview version of mplayer
1.0rc4 to experimental, which contains a lot of changes. Can you please
retry with that version? Thanks!

Nothing critical here. This happens only for users with a USB GPS device (or
something which migt be recognized as such) and /var + /usr on separate
filesystems. And even for them there is a timeout, so booting will continue,
although delayed. No harm done.

I've then purged the gpsd package and rebooted and everythingn went fine

gpsd.hotplug.wrapper is broken, it must fork while it waits for /usr
 and /var.

Since which version does udev not fork the scripts anymore? The behavior in the
wrapper didn't change for a log time and there was never a complaint.

I run Debian in a French locale and this causes apt-cross to not find any
dependency. To reproduce run this test (you may need to first add the French
 locale with dpkg-reconfigure locales):

I have many locales pre-configured in many different environments. None
of those environments can reproduce this bug.

 # LANG=fr_FR.UTF-8 apt-cross -a i386 -n -i libxt-dev

Why are you trying to cross i386???

Needless to say, this makes apt-cross essentially unusable if one does not
know the magic 'LANG=' workaround, hence the priority 'important'.

Not reproducible - apt-cross has been translated and tested in various
locales many times and it does work with translated output (i.e.
without changing the locale).

This bug is also present in apt-cross 0.12.0 (in Debian 5.0.5).

Tested, not reproducible.

1. Make sure apt-cross is always up to date before testing, using the
--update command

2. Always run --update between any change in configuration

3. Do not expect apt-cross to handle false tests like -a i386, use a
sensible test like -a armel.

4. If you want foo_i386-cross you are looking for the wrong thing,
generally - use a 32bit chroot to build stuff for i386 on amd64, for
example. It is usually wrong to want foo_i386-cross anything. Please
explain, in detail, why you think you need this and re-test.

5. For quicker tests, consider trying libpopt-dev as your test package.

6. Get yourself a clean test environment, maybe using pbuilder or
pdebuild-cross, and re-test. I suspect something else is wrong or
misconfigured on your system.

7. Always provide the *full* list of apt sources - not
just /etc/apt/sources.list but all the files in /etc/apt/sources.list.d/
Bugs in dependency calculations with apt-cross are always dependent on
the precise apt sources in use at the time. That is why apt-cross
supplies a custom reportbug script. reportbug then generates these
questions:

I can automatically include various information about your apt and
apt-cross configuration in your bug report. This information may
help to diagnose your problem. You can always edit this information
within the bug report if necessary.

It can also be helpful if you re-run the problematic apt-cross
command using the full debug verbosity (-v -v -v) and redirecting
the output to a file that can be attached to the bug report.

Thanks for your help.

May I include your apt cache policy ? y
May I also include your sources.lists (/etc/apt/sources.list*(.d/*))? y

8. Clean up your apt-cross cache data (~/.apt-cross) - remove the
entire directory and ensure that no other users on the same system have
apt-cross cache data either (especially /root/)

Please re-test and use reportbug to add more information to this bug
report and expressly include the above information. If this is not
provided, I have no choice but to close this bug as wontfix.

apt-cross has many issues but l10n is not normally one.

It's very likely that something else is causing apt-cross to fail to
see the relevant cache data (the usual reason that apt-cross will fail
to resolve dependencies) in the expected location.

Hi Marcos,

I'm currently trying to cleaning up old bugreports. This is a bugreport
you've filed in May 2008:

Marcos Daniel Marado Torres ha scritto:
At least when watching TV via a TV capture card, mplayer 1.0~rc2-12 has

 do you mean
 1) delay between video and audio that mplayer is playing ,
 or
 2) delay between what is broadcast (by watching with a TV) and
what mplayer is playing
 ?

if the answer is (1), can you correct it using the keys + and - ?

 This does not
happen in less recent versions, like 1.0~rc2-8+lenny1 .

does this change with the kernel as well

 If you want me
to test some intermediate versions or something like that, just ask.

may you provide some more info,

 - the model of TV card and/or the kernel driver,
and if it produces raw video or MPEG ?
 - the command line used for mplayer
 - /proc/cpuinfo

 thanks for any info

You didn't reply since then. I'm closing this bug right now, because it
seems to me that you are no longer experiencing this problem, either by
a new version of mplayer or because you no longer use mplayer.

Please reply to this mail with the information Andrea requested if this
bug is being closed in error.

Right, it probably needs some configuration and/or changes to the

Precisely: the fix is to add to /etc/X11/app-defaults/XXkb:

XXkb.mainwindow.type: normal

But this is not the same bug - the segfault is gone.

True.

The configuration problem is a nuisance but it wouldn't be the first
program that needs configuration before using.

Well, this is more than a nuisance: this setting is not documented anywhere, so
a regular user cannot configure xxkb to work. Furthermore Debian is supposed to
ship working default.

The version of gspdrive in the Debian repos is very old and needs to be
updated. the current version of the package doesn't even work as a GPS
program due to an incompatibility - the main purpose of the program.

The new version of gpsdrive has lots of bug fixes and changes the application
quite a bit (the build system has even changed).

I would ask that someone package the new gpsdrive so that it becomes a usable
application for what it was created for. I started some of the work looking
at the patches that had been incorporated etc. and updated the patches that
are still needed, the can be see in this ZIP

This makes me suspect some part of mplayer's terminal interaction
 code.

AFAIU the code, -noconsolecontrols does not do any terminal handling,
but 'just' controls on what events mplayer reacts. this is mainly useful
for the slave mode. I'm still a bit surprised why this makes a
difference here.

These tests were done within Emacs' M-x shell, where TERM=dumb and
 stdio is connected to a tty (i.e. test -t 0 -a -t 1 -a -t 2 passes).

The behaviour above is consistent for kernels

Bug#591030: bcfg2-server init scripts are a complete mess

2010-08-03 Thread Tuomas Noraef
Hi Arto,

What you say seems understandable and reasonable to me. Thanks for the
hints about the recommendations of the LSB ;)

Just one point, certainly a tad out off topic (but as we already
discussed about the client...) : as the push part of the agent mode
is supposed to now happen through triggers, I think this may be a case
for adding a bcfg2 system user, this time, not for the server (like
has been suggested in another bug), but rather for the client. At
least, this is probably what I intend to do, so to avoid direct
connection to the root acount : I may then allow the bcfg2, or
bcfg2-client, user to passwordless-ly sudo with root rights, to run
the bcfg2 command I need it to, and only this one (it may not change
much security-wise, in respect with directly connecting to root, with
the only right to issue this commandline, but management-wise, it'll
be clearer to me - if any and all network daemon that runs as root
needed to be replaced with ssh-ing to the root account, this could
really start getting unmanageable and unsortable - sort of trashbin
accounts are a pain, and root certainly does not need this). Just a
thought I think it may be not so useless to throw here. Could be
something to think about, and include in the README, when you fix the
agent disappearance...

Have a good day !

Please take this report in the spirit of an installation report.

The following packages caused problems:

ndiff - conflict with nmap
guymager libguytools1 - not found
mdadm - problems while building kernel initrd

I basically excluded them from the build via modifying the appropriate list.

The following config information in config/binary

# $LH_CHECKSUMS: set checksums

LH_CHECKSUMS=true changed to md5 to make it work.

caused confusion, e.g. the error:

I.e. is true really the correct default?

The dahdi-tools part:

Probably worth backporting.

Hi,

the class imap4.IMAP4() does not have the expected behaviour. In the
documentation (http://docs.python.org/release/2.6.5/library/imaplib.html), it
is state that if invoked without any argument, it will try to open an IMAP

Note that if stating 'localhost' as argument, the call has the good
behaviour:

 Justification: causes non-serious data loss

no only if *lots* of boxes would be affected,
also prove posted.

We use this server as a bridging firewall, it has 3 NICs configured, first
 one for
incoming traffic, second one for outgoing and third one for management.

Whenever we use kernel 2.6.32-5, it panics when there is no link between the
 router
and the incoming interface on the server. Panics also on reboot. Tried to
 disable
acpid but doesn't seem to be related.

When switching to previous kernel (2.6.32-3), works perfectly.

please post panic, we have no crystall balls allowing it to
verify this case.

thanks

Bug#591475: cyrus-imapd-2.2: rename mailbox across virtual domains loses sieve scripts

2010-08-03 Thread Matto Marjanovic
Package: cyrus-imapd-2.2
Version: 2.2.13-14+lenny3
Severity: important

Issuing a 'rename' command in cyradm to move a mailbox into a new/different
virtual domain will end up deleting the mailbox's sieve scripts, because
the sieve directory tree for the destination domain does not get setup
properly.

For example, this cyradm command:
  rename user@example1.com user@example2.com
should copy sieve scripts from
 /var/spool/sieve/domain/e/example1.com/x/xxx
to
 /var/spool/sieve/domain/e/example2.com/x/xxx
However, it does not create the target directory's parent(s) if it
does not already exist, and in that case the scripts are simply
deleted from the source.

One workaround is to manually create the directory structure for
the new/target domain before doing any moving:

  for x in a b c d e f g h i j k l m n o p q r s t u v w x y z; do
mkdir -p /var/spool/sieve/domain/T/TARGET/$x
  done
  chown -R cyrus.mail /var/spool/sieve/domain/T
  chmod -R go-rw /var/spool/sieve/domain/T

I classified this as 'important' because of the silent data loss.

 Doesn't look like it.

Can you then try to install iceweasel-dbg and gdb, then run iceweasel -g.
At the gdb prompt, rype run, then when startup looks frozen, press ctrl+c
and then get a full backtrace with bt full. Please paste its output here.
Try several times during startup. I'd expect the resulting traces to look
similar.

Right. My intent--and please let me know if I got it wrong--was to mark
the bug closed in sid/squeeze but leave it open for the lenny version.
I think the message I did should have accomplished that.

Bug#591476: gthumb crashes on start

2010-08-03 Thread Mugurel Tudor
Package: gthumb
Version: 3:2.11.5-2
Severity: grave
Tags: upstream
Justification: renders package unusable

After upgrading gthumb some weeks ago, it crashes on every start. I tried
runing it as another user, and that way, it works. So probably it crashes for
some old settings found on my account. I tried removing everything gthumb
related from .config/gthumb, but still no luck...

Bug#591477: fvwm: FvwmTaskBar doesn't fit into the screen width

2010-08-03 Thread Rdiger Schopper
Package: fvwm
Version: 1:2.5.30.ds-1bfw1
Severity: minor

The FvwmTaskBar uses the old border size in case of an M_ADD_WINDOW or
M_CONFIGURE_WINDOW Message instead the new one. This leads to the problem, that
the TaskBar doesn't recalculate it's correct size.

It's a trivial patch for an trivial problem:

Bug#591478: sys.executable not set by /usr/bin/jython

2010-08-03 Thread Dan Getz
Package: jython
Version: 2.5.1-1
Severity: normal
Tags: patch

sys.executable should be set when jython is run for the proper functioning of
(at very least least) distutils.

This is done via the -Dpython.executable system property:
http://article.gmane.org/gmane.comp.lang.jython.devel/4068

Once I set the property in /usr/bin/jython, I was able to install packages
via jython setup.py install and run them with jython -m module name,
like a normal python package.

Bug#591479: extlinux: defaults of theme are wrong after first install

2010-08-03 Thread Florian Reitmeir
Package: extlinux
Version: 2:4.02+dfsg-2
Severity: important
Tags: sid squeeze

after installing extlinux, the theme in the /etc/defaults/extlinux file is set
to debian
the debian theme however in the files /boot/extlinux/themes/debian/.. has paths
set to
/boot/extlinux/themes/debian-squeeze/.. and so boot is failing.

Setting the theme to debian-squeeze corrects the problem.

Package: extlinux
