Doesn't perl have rm, mkdir and chown functions?

Yes. chown is even already used in libkolab-perl.

Also rm -rf seems like heavy-handed configuration...

The -f is not even needed.

I will upload a better version once libkolab-perl/1:2.2.4-20100624-2

 Unblocked.

Thanks. I was somehow hoping there would be something significant in the
backtrace related to libxul.so, but it turns out not. The crash occuring
in the libjack library, I'd suggest you to get libjack with debugging
symbols (I'm afraid you would need to rebuild the package for that (you
may want to set DEB_BUILD_OPTIONS=nostrip)). I'm reassigning the bug to
the libjack0 package.

Cheers,

Bug#586273: adobe flash download link

2010-09-16 Thread Jan Niehusmann
Hi,

I found the 64bit flash plugin at
http://labs.adobe.com/downloads/flashplayer10.html

The file
http://download.macromedia.com/pub/labs/flashplayer10/flashplayer_square_p1_64bit_linux_091510.tar.gz
contains a libflashplayer.so which does work on my amd64 squeeze system.
(Tested with a single youtube video, so I don't know how stable it is)

Bug#597045: sylpheed: sometimes folder tree does not show mail number when new mails arrive

2010-09-16 Thread VDR dai (deb)
Package: sylpheed
Version: 3.1.0~beta3-1
Severity: normal
Tags: experimental

Sometimes folder tree does not show mail number when new mails arrive.

Ordinarily, if new mails are arrived into some folders by sylpheed's POP3,
folder tree shows number of new mails. Sylpheed 3.0.2-1 works so.

On sylpheed 3.1.0~beta3-1 (also beta2),
folder tree sometimes does not show its numbers.
Therefore, if new mails arrive, I have to check all folders.
And I click folder that has new mails actually, it shows its numbers.
I am troubled that it does not always occur.

I guess it is caused by 3.1.0~beta2's new feature mentioned below changelog,
but I do not know whether it is a bug or just supposed action.

http://sylpheed.sraoss.jp/en/news.html
 # New features

   * On POP3 receiving, new messages are displayed on the summary view
immediately. Folder switching is not required anymore.

dai

Bug#597047: update-notifier: Notification doesn't appear ever in minimal graphic system

2010-09-16 Thread Stanislav Fyodorov

gcc
xserver-xorg
gnome-terminal
metacity
gdm3
gnome-session-common
gnome-control-center
gnome-themes
vim

and update-notifier

Any notifications do not appear ever.
I tried:
$ ps -e | grep update
 2050 ?00:00:00 update-notifier

$ sudo /usr/share/update-notifier/notify-reboot-required
$ sudo touch /var/lib/update-notifier/dpkg-run-stamp
Nothing happens and terminal is clean.

$ /usr/lib/update-notifier/apt-check -p
libwebkit-1.0-2
libwebkit-1.0-common

$ /usr/lib/update-notifier/apt-check
2;0

Notification doesn't appear after apt-get update.

CDROM detection doesn't give anything.

$ sudo killall update-notifier; update-notifier

My options for update-notifications:
auto_launch false
..interval 0

I have never seen any notification instaed og Preview in

Probably this package must require something more for declared work. Hope we
will find out it.

  armv7-a, thumb2, vfpv3-d16 and float-abi=hard) for now residing in
debian-ports.org. Since libv8 supports ARM, it would be appreciated it
if you could add armhf to the list of supported architectures in libv8.

 Sure,
before we do that, could you try building v8 for armhf ?
I'd hesitate much less if i knew it builds ok.

I played around with the package, it compiled with plain settings, but it was
rather unoptimised (armv5t, etc). So I decided to make it to build a
specialized version for armhf (armv7-a basically, float-abi=hard is implied in
the compiler settings as it is the default). I attach the patch I used.

Thanks

Bug#597048: README.Debian suggest to put SOCKET= in /etc/default/clamav-milter but it's not used

2010-09-16 Thread hertzog
Package: clamav-milter
Version: 0.96.1+dfsg-1
Severity: normal

The README.Debian says:
   POSTFIX

Recent versions of postfix have support for milters. This allows
clamav-milter to
be used reasonably well with postfix, although the problem of group
permissions on
the actual socket is a problem. See /usr/share/doc/clamav-milter/INSTALL.gz
for some
details. A solution for the frequent I have to change the init script to
make sure
postfix can communicate with the socket problem is making the directory for
the socket
   setgid. So:
uncomment USE_POSTFIX=yes in /etc/default/clamav-milter and choose the
appropriate
   socket option.
   mkdir -p /var/spool/postfix/clamav/
   chown clamav:postfix /var/spool/postfix/clamav/
   chmod g+s /var/spool/postfix/clamav/
   ls -l /var/spool/postfix/clamav/
   srwxrwxr-x 1 clamav postfix 0 2006-12-15 03:37 clamav-milter

Another option is to use a TCP socket for milter - postfix communication.
For this
option, you can use the syntax:
   SOCKET=inet:12...@127.0.0.1 (p...@host, in case it's not clear)
in /etc/default/clamav-milter. This has the disadvantage that you lose
filesystem
permission-based protections on the socket, so use with some caution.

All of this is wrong... USE_POSTFIX is without effect and SOCKET is the same.
The configuration is all dealt with clamav-milter.conf which is itself generated
with debconf.

Please review that file and update it to match the current situation. Wrong
documentation is very misleading for end-users, in particular when
README.Debian is the one that should always be right because the package
maintainers know what he did. :-)

Cheers,

Bug#587007: salome: Porting patches to Salome 5.1.4 for upstream inclusion

2010-09-16 Thread Andre Espaze
Hi Adam,

After a long break, I am back on the Salome packaging.

Welcome back! I hope you enjoyed your break.
Sure, it was really nice.

I have enclosed most of the patches for building the KERNEL module with
the 5.1.4 version. Moreover a start of the documentation that I plan
to send for patches submission can be found here:
  https://hg.python-science.org/salome-packaging/file/d60a8c2112dc/debian-patch-review.rst

However I wanted to discuss with you on 3 patches that I did not include
because I thought that they concern Debian choices:

  - kernel-config-extra.patch

 Definitely Debian-only

  - kernel-doc-images-svg.patch

Upstream probably won't accept, I haven't seen a big reduction in the
documentation size with this patch (haven't tested though).
Ok, so I will make a try for this one too.

  - kernel-install-without-docs.patch

This one is debatable. I think that when most users do make make
install they don't want to go through the entire documentation building
and installation process, so I would ask and see whether they would be
willing to accept this. It certainly saves us a *ton* of build time and
disk space on the autobuilders, as when they only build for their own
arch, there is no reason to build and install the documentation!
Ok, I will try to submit it in that case, saying that is debatable (like
kernel-doc-images-svg.patch).

and this one does not make sense alone because the command is then
  renamed in 'debian/rules':

  - kernel-python-noexec.patch

 I agree.

In case you have arguments or ideas about how to submit them, I will
include them in the report. Now I plan to continue on the following
  modules.

I have a couple more which perhaps should not go upstream.
 kernel-debian-dirs.patch is obviouis;
Yes but I added it because it is required for illustrating how Salome
is built on Debian and moreover it shows that hard coded paths are
potentially a problem for custom module installations. In case upstream
is interested by such change, I plan to improve it.

 also, kernel-mpi-libs.patch uses
 the Debian-specific MPI symlink name libmpi++ .
Thanks for the precision, I thought libmpi++ was a standard. However should
we ask for a MPI_LIBS environment variable in the configure script?
It seems that '-lmpio -lmpiCC' is MPICH specific.

In addition, kernel-hdf5-needs-mpi.patch might not be accepted:
Sylvestre tells me that upstream wants to use the serial HDF5 version,
 not parallel.
Yes they told me that too, however the changes should not break a serial
HDF5 version.

And they might not accept kernel-replace-csh-stderr.patch
 because I think upstream uses csh/tcsh a lot, and I don't think the 2
 syntax works there.
Good news for this one, the file:
KERNEL_SRC_5.1.4/src/LifeCycleCORBA/SALOME_LifeCycleCORBA.cxx
uses already the '2' syntax. So the remaining changes should pass.

But kernel-debian-occ.patch *should* go upstream -- it's compatible both
with the traditional OCC install locations, and the Debian/Ubuntu
locations, which are becoming more commonplace and significant.
Yes, I hope too.

Then what would be the relevant place for submitting patches of the
remaining modules? Is it a good idea to send them to the bugtracker
like I did for the kernel? Or could I let them on the Mercurial
repository of http://www.python-science.org/project/salome-packaging?

All the best,

André

Philipp Kern pk...@debian.org writes:

On Fri, Sep 10, 2010 at 05:52:35PM -0700, John Sullivan wrote:

3.42-3 fixes a FTBFS bug by removing a build dependency that does not
exist in squeeze. Instead of naming specific emacs version packages as
build dependencies, it just names the emacsen virtual package (which
it did before as one of the ORed list), since any of the providers of
 that package work.

How did you build test it? I suppose that the default sbuild dependency
resolving algorithm will fail horribly on this.

I tested building it inside pbuilder with each of the following:

emacs
emacs23
emacs23-lucid
emacs23-nox
xemacs21-mule
xemacs21-mule-canna-wnn
xemacs21-nomule

These are all the providers of the emacsen virtual package in squeeze. I
tested each provider individually in a fresh environment, as well as
with apt-get build-dep to make sure it could work without any provider
yet installed.

I see other emacs packages using ORed build-dependencies (muse-el,
remember-el) instead of or in addition to the virtual emacsen package,
but Lucas's bug suggested I shouldn't use ORed build-deps either. If
there's a better recommended way to state that any of the alternatives
will suffice for building, I'm happy to apply it.

My fix is essentially the same as what was done in remember-el to fix
the same bug (http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=543126).

  Hello Adam and Christophe,

It will be nice to include adm_local directory for each salome
  base modules
in the salome-dev package. This will greatly simplify the
  developpement and
packaging of new plugins since the configuration step almost refers
  to
  MODULE/adm_local.
Otherwise we ave to include some MODULE_SRC in the src package for
  the plugins
(see what I have done for salome-code-aster on svn debian science)

This is a good idea. Right now the package puts the .m4 files all
together in one big salome.m4 in /usr/share/aclocal (because
check_KERNEL.m4 and check_GUI.m4 are far too generic names). But
 something like /usr/share/salome/[module]/adm_local or
just /usr/share/salome/adm_local could include more than just the .m4
 files.

/usr/share/salome/adm_local is the easiest place to put these. Will
 that work for you?

I would rather try to stick as much as possible to the original
installation. So my feelings are that adm_local from MODULE_SRC should
be included in /usr/share/salome/MODULE_SRC.

It's pretty easy either way. André, as someone closer to upstream, what
do you think makes more sense? Right now, all of the adm_local files
install into /usr/adm_local, which violates the FHS. Should they go
into a single directory under /usr/share/salome or into separate module
   directories?
To my point of view, installing the .m4 files in separate module
directories like /usr/share/salome/MODULE_SRC makes more sense with
upstream packaging philosophy. I understand the clearness of a single
directory like /usr/share/salome/adm_local but I fear conflicts
because all modules do not necessarily share the same macro for a same
  configuration check.

Well, I think it's a problem that they don't use the same macro in some
cases, like GUI checks... But I'll go ahead and do it this way anyway.
Just for information, the 'geom-use-gui-check.patch' patch is broken
on the 5.1.4 version because the macros 'CHECK_SALOME_GUI' and
'CHECK_CORBA_IN_GUI' are now defined in the check_GUI.m4 file of
the GEOM module. From now my solution is to give the path
'${GUI_ROOT_DIR}/adm_local/unix/config_files' as the first argument
to aclocal in build_configure (but it could be a problem in case
a macro really needs to be overloaded locally).
In case you already have a solution for using the same macro, I will
gladly port it to the 5.1.4 version.

André

Bug#597052: FTBFS if hlint is installed

2010-09-16 Thread Joachim Breitner
Package: darcs
Version: 2.4.4-2
Severity: minor

-BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-
Hash: SHA1

Hi Trent,

while uploading the NMU I noticed that darcs FTBFS if hlint is
installed, at test tests/haskell-policy.sh.

I suggest you either disable the test, add hlint to Build-Conflicts or fix
the test (maybe it is fixed in the next upstream release).

Thanks,
Joachim

Bug#567690: xfonts-terminus: unicode hyphen seems to be missing

Anton It looks like your system is configured to use UTF-8. Rxvt
Anton however doesn't support UTF-8. With such locale no font (fixed
Anton or other) can provide proper hyphenation dashes in Rxvt. Because
Anton of this I think you don't realy use rxvt, maybe you use urxvt?

Yes, of course. Sorry for that confusion.

Anton Anyway, it seems we have two options -- either you provide some
Anton information that will help me to reproduce the bug, or we hope
Anton that there is no bug (i.e. it has been fixed or the problem has
Anton been caused by wrong locale+font combination) it which case we

Go ahead and close it, although if it has been fixed I'd think you would
know about it :-)

There is something more. We had to install Nautilus and GNOME Panel in this

I do not know what functionality of gnome-session is requierd for locking on
time proper work.

I suggest to change dependence from gnome-session to gnome-session-bin. I think
it is possible.

This creates the database using the “template0” template rather than the
“template1” one; both can be declared as using any encodings (and when
PostgreSQL has been installed in the C locale, for instance, they're
using SQL_ASCII), but template0 is guaranteed to be empty, so PostgreSQL
special-cases it and allows creating new databases from it even if the
encoding differs. Which allows us to create the “gforge” database with
the UNICODE encoding in those cases.

Bug#591416: This bug might be due to Windows programs overwriting grub

2010-09-16 Thread Svante Signell

   amd64:
 http://cdimage.debian.org/cdimage/squeeze_di_alpha1/amd64/iso-cd/debian-testing-amd64-netinst.iso

Select Rescue mode when booting the CD, then run through the
installation system (which should say Rescue mode at the top left of
each screen) until it asks you which partition to use as your root file
system (if it prompts you to create or edit partitions, then you
selected the wrong thing when booting the CD; reboot and try again).
Select /dev/ROOT, then select Execute a shell in /dev/ROOT.

In this shell, run 'grub-install /dev/GRUB'. You do not need to run
update-grub (grub.cfg has not been touched), and you should not run
install-mbr (GRUB installs its own MBR).

I suggest that you perform a test run through this before doing whatever
you do to make GRUB unbootable.

I followed your instructions and checked that I could reinstall grub
from the rescue mode of the netinst CD. However, the problem no longer
shows (even if I re-installed some DRM-related XP programs that I
suspected was the problem). I'll continue to try getting back to the
state where embedded partition is overwritten, but no luck so far.
Thanks for your help anyway!

Bug#517768: can't reproducing mime.cache problem.

 Thanks for your interest.

:)

I don't know where to start, if someone could suggest a suitable
  testcase that would be great!

So far I've found out that the error message originally quoted
in the bug report is no longer part of nautilus (it was dropped
in the gnomevfs-gio switch a long time ago).

Nope, the code is still here in nautilus.

Feel free to point out where... I can't find it.

  I've also installed Lenny + gnome-desktop-environment, played
around a bit with an avi test video, upgraded to squeeze.
This did not result in any problems opening the file.

You don’t just need to play around a bit with a video, you need to do
something that creates a ~/.local/share/mime/mime.cache file. This
involves e.g. creating a new MIME type.

Thanks for this hint. Here's what I've found:

I started with a clean Lenny install + gnome-desktop-environment pulled in.
I then registered a custom mime type on my user as described in
http://library.gnome.org/admin/system-admin-guide/stable/mimetypes-modifying.html.en
(See attached file, which I put in ~/.local/share/mime/packages/ and then
ran update-mime-database ~/.local/share/mime/ to generate the mime.cache.)
I verified with gnomevfs-info ~/Desktop/foo.abc that my test file
was actually detected as the new mime type text/x-abc.
I upgraded to squeeze...
After the complete upgrade gnomevfs-info now told me my file was of type
application/octet-stream rather then my custom type.
Double-clicking my test video file opened the movie player without problems,
no error message about mime mismatches or anything.

To get my custom mime type back I had to manually invoke
update-mime-database ~/.local/share/mime/ and then
foo.abc was again detected as text/x-abc by gnomevfs-info.

It seems the mime cache is now simply ignored if it's in the old
format.

I wonder if this problem might have only been a concern for
  testing-testing upgrades back in 2009

It was a problem with lenny→squeeze upgrades back in 2009, but it might
 simply have been fixed upstream.

Semi-fixed it seems. I wonder where this leaves us now...

Bug#597060: homebank: reporting SSH -X error not working

2010-09-16 Thread yellow

Version: 4.2.1-1
Severity: normal

Dear Sir,

When using homebank over SSH -X , one get the error msg:

$ homebank
The program 'homebank' received an X Window System error.
This probably reflects a bug in the program.
The error was 'BadValue (integer parameter out of range for operation)'.
  (Details: serial 206 error_code 2 request_code 139 minor_code 3)
  (Note to programmers: normally, X errors are reported asynchronously;
that is, you will receive the error a while after causing it.
To debug your program, run it with the --sync command line
option to change this behavior. You can then get a meaningful
backtrace from your debugger if you break on the gdk_x_error() function.)

This is basically the same issue as reported in #474639, only for vsftp this

Therefore I propose the attached patch to link against libpcap2 instead to get
rid of this warning. Note: Although it seems to be a cosmetic issue only,

Bug#585380: [audacity] hangs suddenly, can't find a pattern.

2010-09-16 Thread Benjamin Drung
Hi Arnfinn,

audacity 1.3.5 tends to crash from time to time. The releases after
1.3.5 improved stability and audacity 1.3.12 is stable for me (no crash
in months).

Looking at your backtrace, there are some debug symbols missing.
Without them it won't be easy to understand the issue. Can you install
audacity-dbg and the debug package for jack.

A backtrace is useful for crashes, but less useful for for freezes. It's
much simpler to debug a freeze if it can be reproduced. I doubt that
your issue will be fixed if there is no way to reproduce it and the
package in squeeze doesn't have the issue.

Bug#597064: gdesklets: Incorrect patch in debian/patches from #561645

Package: gdesklets
Version: 0.36.1-4

The bug #561645 was closed with a incorrect patch.

The patch in debian/patches dir create a new file in debian/patches and
don't edit utils/ErrorFormatter.py file.

It seems to be a debdiff patch, not a debian/patch file.

Bug#596926: [request-tracker-maintainers] Bug#596926: [request-tracker3.8] Upgrading from rt 3.6 to rt 3.8 with Postgresql backend doesn't work

2010-09-16 Thread Dominic Hargreaves
On Wed, Sep 15, 2010 at 07:31:15AM +0200, Ingo Juergensmann wrote:
Currently it is not possible to upgrade from rt 3.6 (Lenny) to rt 3.8
(Squeeze) when using PostgreSQL 8.3 as a backend.
 Reason:
 rt3.8-db-postgresql depends on meta-package postgresql-client, which
depends on postgresql-client-8.4. Currently the upgrade path from
PostgreSQL 8.3 to 8.4 is broken, see
 http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=596678

So, to being able to upgrade I needed to edit debian/control. Instead of

 Depends: ${misc:Depends}, libdbd-pg-perl (= 1.41),
  postgresql-client (= 7.4)
 Suggests: postgresql | postgresql (= 7.4)

I changed the lines to this:

 Depends: ${misc:Depends}, libdbd-pg-perl (= 1.41),
  postgresql-client-8.3 (= 7.4)
 Suggests: postgresql-8.3 | postgresql (= 7.4)

Maybe the lines should include both postgresql-client and
postgresql-client-8.3 to ensure an upgrade path to rt 3.8 without
needing to upgrade from PostgreSQL 8.3 to 8.4 either?

It's not clear to me what the correct thing to do is. The package
*did* have references to 8.3 until August, when I removed them to
fix some piuparts warnings, since 8.3 is not in sid/squeeze.

Since it appear that pragmatic fix is indeed to put the 8.3 dep back,
I will do that for an upcoming upload. However I would also like to
lower the severity of this bug, because it's not actually a but in
the RT package at all, just something that needs a workaround, as I
understand it.

full, and then do nothing at all anymore. No response to moving, not
even to esc or enter. The only way out I had was to kill the game
 through the terminal on ctrl-alt-f1.

 Good catch!

Can you attached a gzip'd savegame so I can easily reproduce (and fix)
 the problem?

I can. The attached save is near the bow store: go three screens west to
enter it, then select buy (never mind that you don't have money, that
check is later in the code). Everything freezes.

I also looked at the code and found the problem. It was in -data, so I
reassigned the bug (I had expected them to be in the same source
package). I attached a patch which is code copied from another store.
However, it doesn't seem to work properly (but I doubt that anyone will
notice): even though I say unfreeze (1), the shopkeeper keeps frozen
until something new happens to him. The player is unfrozen, and that's
the important part, because it makes the game continue.

Thanks,
Bas

Obviously getting the test to pass would be better than disabling it,

Bug#597068: check_ping from nagios-plugins-basic fails with ipv6

2010-09-16 Thread Jens Pranaitis
Package: nagios-plugins-basic

The check_ping plugin fails when a host doesn't support ipv6 but a ipv6
address is returned by gethostbyname.
See for example the following command line output:

infra1:~# host www.heise.de
www.heise.de has address 193.99.144.85
www.heise.de has IPv6 address 2a02:2e0:3fe:100::7

100.0,20% -c 200.0,40%
CRITICAL - Network Unreachable (www.heise.de)
infra1:~# ping6 2a02:2e0:3fe:100::7
connect: Network is unreachable

Nagios should use the ipv4 address if available, at least as a fallback.

Thanks for your great work so far!

Bug#517768: can't reproducing mime.cache problem.

Nope, the code is still here in nautilus.

Feel free to point out where... I can't find it.

Sorry, I meant it is in glib now.

To get my custom mime type back I had to manually invoke
 update-mime-database ~/.local/share/mime/ and then
foo.abc was again detected as text/x-abc by gnomevfs-info.

It seems the mime cache is now simply ignored if it's in the old
 format.

Thanks a lot for the thorough testing.

It was a problem with lenny→squeeze upgrades back in 2009, but it might
  simply have been fixed upstream.

Semi-fixed it seems. I wonder where this leaves us now...

Well now glib is behaving as it is supposed to do: the old cache format
is simply ignored - instead of breaking the whole MIME subsystem.
However it will not be regenerated upon upgrade. This should be done by
an upgrade script (which are usually run from gnome-settings-daemon),
not by glib itself.

All in all I don’t think we should consider this as RC anymore.

Cheers,

Bug#597071: system-config-printer-kde: Printer Configuration hangs loading ppds

2010-09-16 Thread Leszek Lesner
Package: system-config-printer-kde
Version: 4:4.4.5-2
Severity: grave
Justification: renders package unusable

Starting works fine. But when clicking on New Printer it takes a long time to
load and displays also my detected printer. But the next step (which is
choosing the right driver) ends up in a looping load. So nothing happens if you
click next.

This is the output in terminal:
kcmshell4 system-config-printer-kde
Caught non-fatal exception. Traceback:
File /usr/share/kde4/apps/system-config-printer-kde/system-config-printer-
kde.py, line 2290, in getPPDs_thread
self.ppds_result = cupshelpers.ppds.PPDs(ppds_dict,
AttributeError: 'module' object has no attribute 'ppds'
Continuing anyway..

I think it is an indentation error somewhere. Cause importing cupshelpers in
line 2289 manually (import cupshelpers) fixes this loop hangs. But other
functions in system-config-printer-kde.py still don't find cupshelpers.
I couldn't fix it on my own as I don't know how.

You may also need to rebuild the linux-base package. To do that, run

Hi,

I've been running with your patches for at least 20 days and experienced
no problems. This doesn't necessarily mean that the issue is fixed (it
was sporadic anyway), but I consider this a good sign.

Bug#523260: gnuplot-nox: depend on a newer version of libedit2

I am not familiar with shared libraries policy.

I have done more tests at the libedit side, seems that from 2.11~20080614 to
2.11-20080614 at least 'toupper' and 'tolower' were added, so last one seems
the appropriate choice for minimal dependency.

Patch with my current changes is attached. Although is marked as an NMU, I
will wait before to hear from maintainer (Hi, Anibal). Do not forget to
clone bug report to gnuplot before closing.

Bug#597073: chromium-browser: Images are inappropriately upscaled

2010-09-16 Thread Thue Janus Kristensen
Package: chromium-browser
Version: 6.0.472.53~r57914-3
Severity: normal

Looking at fx http://i.imgur.com/I0qRG.png , the image is displayed
1pixel-1pixel in fx Firefox, or Chrome on Windows.

But in chromium-browser, the browser chooses to scale it to some
non-handy resolution, at least x3 its native resolution. Which is very
annoying when you can only see 1/3 of the image at one time, when the
whole native image resolution would fit in the browser window.

When the hover the cursor, it shows a magnifying glass with a plus in
it. When I left-click the image, it scale the image up to something
like x9 its native resolution. Not really what I needed.

Regardsm Thue

Bug#597075: linux-image-2.6.32-5-amd64: The amount of times connect() function resends SYN is not equal to net.ipv4.tcp_syn_retries.

2010-09-16 Thread Yurij M. Plotnikov
Package: linux-2.6
Version: 2.6.32-21
Severity: normal

connect() function that is hanging because SYNACK is not recieved resends
SYNs only 2 times by default. But net.ipv4.tcp_syn_retries by default is
equal to 5. If net.ipv4.tcp_syn_retries is equal to 6 then connect()
resends SYN 3 times. The function getsockopt(IPPROTO_TCP, TCP_SYNCNT)
returned the same value as net.ipv4.tcp_syn_retries.

Bug#597080: gv: error messages from gs are not visible

2010-09-16 Thread Vincent Lefevre
Package: gv
Version: 1:3.7.1-1
Severity: normal

When gs outputs an error message, it is not visible, probably due
to an incorrect work area in the Ghostscript Messages window, or
something like that.

For instance, try with gs as a script early in your $PATH:

#!/bin/sh
echo Fail! 2
exit 1

I've attached a snapshot of the Ghostscript Messages window: it
is empty! When I click on its scroll bar, the message appears.

Bug#595408: backlog replay broken for unexpected disconnections

2010-09-16 Thread Arnaud Cornet
A better solution is to poll the tcp buffer size as I mentioned
before. The empty buffer insures us that the client received the data.
A ping from bip to client would be useful, and I don't remember if
it's missing on top of my head. But every two second is overkill and
still incorrect as messages can come in those two seconds.

2010/9/15 Fabien Tassin f...@sofaraway.org:
if i understand the code correctly, it seems bip is able to answer to
PINGs from the server or from the client, send PINGs to the server but
it doesn't emit its own pings toward the client.

What about making bip ping the client on a quite fast pace (such as
~2sec), or with a user configurable interval timeout?

 something like this:

  client                   bip                     server
  | -- PING X --- |                        |
  | - PONG X |                        |
  |                        |                        |
  |                        | -- PING Y --- |
  |                        | --- PONG Y -- |
  |                        |                        |
  |                        | --- PING Z -- |
  |                        | -- PONG Z --- |
  |                        |                        |
  | - PING T |
  | -- PONG T --- |

(X/Y/Z/T are independent, i.e. no ping relay)

 X, Y and Z are already there.

T would allow bip to a/ detect much faster than the client is gone and
b/ truncate the backlogs after each PONG (at the time the corresponding
PING was sent) to avoid too many duplicates during replays.

 What do you think?

 /Fabien

Bug#597074: debian-policy: libc5-compat paths are not in /etc/ld.so.conf anymore.

2010-09-16 Thread Charles Plessy
Package: debian-policy
Version: 3.9.1.0
Severity: wishlist
Tags: patch

Dear all,

When reading footnote 51 of section 8.1.1, about ldconfig, I noticed
that is not up to date because the libc5-compat paths are not in
/etc/ld.so.conf anymore.

I attached a patch that corrects this.

Have a nice day,

Bug#597076: amd: '/net': mount: No locks available

2010-09-16 Thread Richard Kettlewell

Package: am-utils
Version: 6.1.5-15+nmu1

Since upgrading to this version, amd has just (yesterday) stopped
working and started complaining 'No locks available'.

The timestamp on the first error is very close to that on the *.list
file so my wild guess is that the NMU version is broken (either
inherently buggy, or built in an environment that violates some unknown
dependency).

Neither restarting amd nor rebooting the computer (actually a kvm VM in
this case) fixes the problem.

Bug#597082: xserver-xorg-input-synaptics: Please add support for Synaptics ClickPads

2010-09-16 Thread Alexander Reichle-Schmehl
Package: xserver-xorg-input-synaptics
Version: 1.2.2-2
Severity: important

Hi!

Newer Netbooks and Notebooks seem to be delivered with a Synaptics
Clickpad (which basically seems to be a Touchpad with no extra sepperated
buttons, but build in ones). These devices are already recodnized by the
kernel and xorg synaptics driver, but don't work: You have only one mouse
button, which is quite useless, as the button area when touched is also
sensitive for the mouse cursor movement.

The Kernel seems to already be ready (see #572842) but the xorg synaptics
driver didn't work for me.

There is a patch at http://www.spinics.net/lists/linux-input/msg08198.html,
which works for me more or less (I don't have a middle mouse button, but at
least the rest is working).

Please consider applying this patch. To the best of my knowledge it has
also been accepted by upstream.

Best regards,
Alexander, who also volunteers for testing

Only the last one is revelant for that release. The two others are part of
 normal package processing.

On a closer look at the current package, the problem appears to be that
you've created the new patch incorrectly. The existing patches are in
debian/patches, and applied via debian/patches/series, as would be
expected; the new patch is (presumably incorrectly) in debian/ so quilt
has created a debian/series file to include all of the patches.

After upgrading to 2.6.32-22, the wl.ko driver from broadcom-sta package

I added the brcm80211 driver which is a free (GPL) replacement for
broadcom-sta/wl. You'll need to install firmware images which, er, I haven't
uploaded yet, sorry. For now, you can get these from
http://svn.debian.org/wsvn/kernel/dists/trunk/firmware-nonfree/brcm80211/brcm/
and install them under /lib/firmware/brcm. They will be included in the

Bug#597084: grub-pc: /etc/kernel/postinst.d/zz-update-grub fails inside openvz chroot

2010-09-16 Thread Michael Prokop

Installing a kernel inside a openvz guest chroot fails with:

It's due to the failing update-grub command in
/etc/kernel/postinst.d/zz-update-grub:

  # update-grub
/usr/sbin/grub-probe: error: cannot find a device for / (is /dev mounted?).

It fails because of the way openvz guests look like (simfs as
rootfs):

  # /usr/sbin/grub-probe --target=device /
/usr/sbin/grub-probe: error: cannot find a device for / (is /dev mounted?).

  # cat /proc/self/mounts
  none /proc proc rw 0 0
  none /sys sysfs rw 0 0
  simfs /dev simfs rw 0 0

It works fine inside a KVM guest chroot which doesn't use the simfs
as rootfs:

  # /usr/sbin/grub-probe --target=device /
  /dev/vda1

  # cat /proc/self/mounts
  rootfs / rootfs rw 0 0

  [...]

  # readlink -f /dev/disk/by-uuid/2bd80bd3-528c-431b-8b4a-47ecd1e27e24

I brought up a related issue on the grub mailinglist ~9 months ago:
execution of update-grub in chroots might fail -
http://www.mail-archive.com/grub-de...@gnu.org/msg14328.html

And related as well (but not 100% similar) is issue #538118.
If you need further information, testing,... I'd be happy to help
out.

Bug#597085: python-pymongo: egg-info directory missing in /usr/share/pyshared

2010-09-16 Thread Christophe Benz
Package: python-pymongo
Version: 1.8.1-1

Hi,

I think the .egg-info directory is missing in /usr/share/pyshared for
python-pymongo.

I cannot use it as an egg-dependency in my application setup.py using
the install_requires key, without raising a DistributionNotFound
exception about pymongo.

For example, python-pylons provides /usr/share/pyshared/Pylons-1.0rc1.egg-info/

Can the maintainer add it please?

Thanks in advance.

Furthermore, the yaboot.conf you brought shows no signs of UUID or LABEL

correct. Could you verify this is the one you really get ?

That's only about adding armhf to the Architecture list, right?
I could do this (as long armhf is little endian, but I gues so as arm

work (afaik it's untested on everything non x86 :)).

You don't happen to have an armhf board with usb and a u3 enabled stick
