Bug#612401: your mail
severity 612401 important thanks Hi, Daniel. * Daniel Baumann daniel.baum...@progress-technologies.net [2011-03-16 13:48:27 CET]: # no, it does not. severity 612401 serious Sorry, I'm unable to reproduce the issue in a clean squeeze chroot. Actually the missing file /etc/fonts/fonts.conf in your log is part of the fontconfig-config package, which is automatically pulled in through this dependency chain, as aptitude why fontconfig-config shows: i plymouth Depends libpango1.0-0 (= 1.21) i A libpango1.0-0 Depends libfontconfig1 (= 2.8.0) i A libfontconfig1 Depends fontconfig-config (= 2.8.0-2.1) Then only way I could reproduce it is when the package fontconfig-config got the conffile removed, and such a state isn't in any way something that affects the userbase that would warrant it to be release-critical. Also, what's important too is that piuparts isn't able to reproduce your issue neither: http://piuparts.debian.org/squeeze/source/p/plymouth.html Additionally, since you voluntarily did opt-out from maintaining the package for stable, if you really consider the issue RC in testing/unstable (which I would like to hear a reasoning in the light of the above mentioned requirement for this to happen) then please consider tagging it + wheezy sid because this issue isn't considered RC for squeeze. Again, this issue doesn't appear in stable on regular systems, and isn't reproducible by piuparts. If you are able to reproduce it on squeeze, please offer a recipe for doing so. Bug#615870: No fallbacks
On Wed, 16 Mar 2011 10:23:07 +0100, Luca Capello l...@pca.it wrote: Thanks for reporting. This is a change in behavior that should have been documented, true. and sorry for that. I will submit a patch that adapts the default config file to point out that only one ui interface is valid. To make our life easier we won't support dynamic plugins and fallback plugins. Is this the only rationale to remove such a feature? The rationale is that the previous UI names were an abdomination and something had to be changed about them :-). Or do you remember off hand if it is called TTYUI.TTY or TTY.TTYUI? (and it was case-sensitive too, 'TTYUI', but 'Blinkenlights') So the current behavior is that we have changed the ui names to just drop everything before the dot and become cases insensitive. So you can now invoke it with: -u basic or -u blinkenlights etc. The old names will still work for backwards compatability. But when working on that code, we decided that we would not want to increased complexity in dynamically detecting UI modules and fallback if one fails. We are even considering to deprecate the Curses interface :-). Please do not. AFAIK Curses.Blinkenlights is the only interface that allow interactive commands: even if they are not documented, at least 'q' nicely quits OfflineIMAP. So does CTRL-C in all other backends now :-). I see your point, though we are just very short on manpower. And I mean *very* short (basically, me at the moment). So keeping 5 UI backends up to date is more than the current devs are willing to do. In addition the curses ui is a pain when it comes to exceptions, it will freak out the output of your console. The traceback will be blanked out by curses so you can't even see what has gone wrong etc. Nothing that is unfixable, but also nothing that current devs are interested in working on. So this is more of a documentation bug than everything else. No, it breaks existing configurations, thus it is also a regression. It is indeed. It also warns you what has gone wrong and how to fix it. Should we provide an automatic upgrade path? Perhaps, but I don't want to have offlineimap fudge with a user's config. Not an excuse, but: I did not do that incompatability on purpose. When I coded up the new ui config, I was not even aware that it is possible to hand it multiple uis. But the damage has been done and released, so the only thing I *could* do is to pick the first ui if a list is given and use that one. offlineimap has been on hiatus since essentially 2006 and all of the devs have changed, so this is some of the transition pain as new devs becomes familiar with the code. Thanks for using offlineimap and looking forward to your curses patches :). Sebastian pgpd1j656cfxD.pgp Description: PGP signature

Bug#618573: Needed some way to test whether we are on the console
Package: kbd Severity: wishlist Hello, Console-setup needs some way to test whether we are on the console or not (in order not to damage a running X). Because of Debconf this should work when the program is detached from the actual virtual terminal (so /usr/bin/tty doesn't work). For FreeBSD I found the following solution in the net (http://www.opennet.ru/tips/info/1448.shtml, in Russian language): if vidcontrol -i adapter - 2-; then echo We are on the console else echo We are not on the console. fi (Vidcontrol is the FreeBSD analogue of the setfont+fbset combination.) Unfortunately I don't know if something similar can work for Linux but Julien Cristau contributed the following code: #include stdio.h #include err.h #include sys/types.h #include sys/stat.h #include fcntl.h #include sys/ioctl.h #include linux/kd.h int main() { int fd; int rc; int mode; fd = open(/dev/tty0, O_RDONLY); if (fd 0) err(1, open(/dev/tty0)); rc = ioctl(fd, KDGETMODE, mode); if (rc 0) err(1, ioctl(KDGETMODE)); switch (mode) { case KD_TEXT: printf(text\n); break; case KD_GRAPHICS: printf(graphics\n); break; default: printf(other (%d)\n, mode); break; } return 0; } Would it be possible to include something like this in kbd? I don't like the idea to include a binary Linux-only utility in an architecture independent package such as console-setup. Bug#618581: cluster-agents: ocf:IPaddr2 always sets broadcast address on interface
Package: cluster-agents Version: 1.0.3-3.1 Severity: normal Tags: upstream $FINDIF=/usr/lib/heartbeat/findif is used to calculate netmask (and broadcast address (if not given). The script always calculates the last ip address in the net as broadcast, and afterwards this information is used to add the ip to the interface: Paddr2:394 CMD=$IP2UTIL -f inet addr add $ipaddr/$netmask brd $broadcast dev $iface This works as long as the netmask is at least /30. When using smaller nets, the own or neighbours address is configured as broadcast, which leads to irritation and unreachable neighbours. I see no reason for setting the broadcast at all, todays iproute2 is intelligent enough to work with only ip and netmask given. -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. On 24 Apr 2007 you reported: The attached patch makes use of the keymapper package (written by Matthias Urlichs, now maintained by me) to generate a decision tree which can be used by an intelligent debconf frontend to prompt the user to press some named keys and automatically detect the keyboard layout on the basis of the results. This system has been in use in Ubuntu for quite a while now (since Ubuntu 5.04, based on kbd-chooser; since Ubuntu 6.10, based on console-setup) and seems to work pretty well. It's really about time I had a go at getting it into Debian. Is this still used in Ubuntu? If not, then perhaps I can close this bug... Package: postgresql-client-common Version: 113 Severity: normal Hello, According to the postgresql documentation [1], the equal sign between the key and the value is optional in postgresql.conf. Bug#618576: [Pkg-xen-devel] Bug#618576: xen-3.2-1: VNC display over HVM XEN 3/Lenny AMD64, displays a blank screen when Debian-Installer Squeeze AMD64 is running on it
- Original message - I've a Debian Lenny AMD64 as production server, where it has important HVMs that runs correctly. The problem occurs when i try to create a HVM from a Debian Squeeze AMD64 iso file. At first, the VNC display specified shows perfectly the Debian Installer menu, but when I choose an option (Install or Graphical Install), the VNC displays a blank screen. Something similar happens when I try to boot a Live CD into the HVMs. Hi, when this happens, did you try to reconnect to the VNC server? Did it work? Bug#618587: armhf support
Package: lintian Version: 2.4.3 Severity: wishlist Tags: patch User: debian-...@lists.debian.org Usertags: armhf Hey there While working on adding armhf to control files, I got some warnings from lintian that armhf is an unknown architecture. I see most occurrences in lintian are from autogenerated data coming from dpkg-architecture, except for the expected output of the file command. dpkg.git just got support for armhf, so this should land in the next upload, but I've built and installed a dpkg here and ran the lintian update scripts. I'm attaching a patch which updates all mentions of armel in lintian to also cover armhf; you probably want to wait for the dpkg upload to merge this though. Concerning the output of file on armhf binaries, I looked at patching the file magic to detect hard-float versus soft-float binaries, but while detecting EABI (arm versus armel) is reasonnably easy, it's much harder to detect the floating point ABI as it's in an aeabi section of the ELF file which requires parsing of the ELF string tables to find out the right section, and then the right tags need to be located in the section. It would be much easier to use readelf -A to detect these binaries instead. So this means that %ARCH_REGEX has duplicate entries for armel and armhf, just as for i386 and lpia. For my own reference, this is the snippet to have file's ELF snippet detect ARM EABI binaries: # ARM EABI 18leshort 40 4byte1 36 lelong0xff00 0 EABI, Thanks! -- Loïc Minier diff -Nru lintian-2.5.0~rc1/checks/binaries lintian-2.5.0~rc1armhf1/checks/binaries --- lintian-2.5.0~rc1/checks/binaries 2011-02-20 10:23:45.0 +0100 +++ lintian-2.5.0~rc1armhf1/checks/binaries 2011-03-16 18:29:20.0 +0100 @@ -39,6 +39,7 @@ 'arm'= qr'ELF 32-bit LSB .* ARM, version \d,', 'armeb' = qr'ELF 32-bit MSB .* ARM', 'armel' = qr'ELF 32-bit LSB .* ARM, .* \(SYSV\)', + 'armhf' = qr'ELF 32-bit LSB .* ARM, .* \(SYSV\)', # 'avr32' = qr'ELF 32-bit MSB .* \(SYSV\)', 'hppa' = qr'ELF 32-bit MSB .* PA-RISC', 'hppa64' = qr'ELF 64-bit MSB .* PA-RISC', diff -Nru lintian-2.5.0~rc1/data/fields/architectures lintian-2.5.0~rc1armhf1/data/fields/architectures --- lintian-2.5.0~rc1/data/fields/architectures 2011-02-20 10:23:45.0 +0100 +++ lintian-2.5.0~rc1armhf1/data/fields/architectures 2011-03-16 18:29:20.0 +0100 @@ -1,5 +1,5 @@ # List of known architectures as provided by dpkg-architecture -# Last updated: 2011-02-19 +# Last updated: 2011-03-16 # With: Debian dpkg-architecture version 1.15.8.10. all @@ -9,6 +9,7 @@ arm armeb armel +armhf avr32 darwin-alpha darwin-amd64 diff -Nru lintian-2.5.0~rc1/data/files/triplets lintian-2.5.0~rc1armhf1/data/files/triplets --- lintian-2.5.0~rc1/data/files/triplets 2011-02-20 10:23:45.0 +0100 +++ lintian-2.5.0~rc1armhf1/data/files/triplets 2011-03-16 18:29:20.0 +0100 @@ -1,6 +1,6 @@ # List of triplet architecture relationships as provided by # dpkg-architecture -# Last updated: 2011-02-19 +# Last updated: 2011-03-16 # With: Debian dpkg-architecture version 1.15.8.10. alpha-darwin darwin-alpha @@ -23,6 +23,7 @@ arm-kopensolaris-gnu kopensolaris-arm arm-linux-gnu arm arm-linux-gnueabi armel +arm-linux-gnueabihf armhf arm-linux-uclibc uclibc-linux-arm arm-linux-uclibceabi uclibc-linux-armel arm-netbsd netbsd-arm diff -Nru lintian-2.5.0~rc1/debian/changelog lintian-2.5.0~rc1armhf1/debian/changelog --- lintian-2.5.0~rc1/debian/changelog 2011-02-23 03:28:50.0 +0100 +++ lintian-2.5.0~rc1armhf1/debian/changelog2011-03-16 18:29:38.0 +0100 @@ -1,3 +1,12 @@ +lintian (2.5.0~rc1armhf1) UNRELEASED; urgency=low + + * check/binaries: add support for armhf with the same pattern as armel for +now. + * Run private/refresh-archs data with an armhf-aware dpkg-architecture to +refresh data/fields/architectures and data/files/triplets. + + -- Loïc Minier loic.min...@linaro.org Wed, 16 Mar 2011 18:29:28 +0100 + lintian (2.5.0~rc1) experimental; urgency=low The welcome Niels Thykier! release.

Bug#618553: www.debian.org: Possible broken encoding in international/Swedish/relaterade.wml
Looking at line 77 of relaterade.wml there seems to be some encoding problems in this file. In links this line is rendered fine, however, the next line does not. I've corrected the character. Incidentally, there was a similar problem in the English version, so I fixed that also while bumping the translation revision number. I suspect the bug can be closed, but do not do this as per the recommendation in [0]. Congratulations! I was expecting the installer would not recognize the wireless keyboard and it did with no problems. This was the third net install of Squeeze on this box (in the last month). The first two installations were with the net-install disk without firmware (a disk with firmware is a great idea). The last installation with the firmware net-install disk was to test the firmware version of install to see if that might help some residual issues and detection/installation of the wireless without the wired network(failed with wireless alone). Firmware was also on a usb stick in the machine during the installation. I have noted what may be permissions issues in some configuration files (the programs were unable to access their own configurations), but I do not remember if these were programs included with the net-install or subsequent installs with dpkg/aptitude. The last install included a DB installation. (used KDE advanced graphical expert install options) It did not prompt for a root password for mysql as it has done on the installation of mysql by itself and I believe an earlier installation(?). apt - I used different options for the installer for this version... the second last install had a repository address from choices from a list for the Canadian repository as ftp3.nrc.. this apparently broke over the last weekend. The option was manual this time - I used the .ca.deb address from the debian website and that is working. The system is to run a theater box running MythTV for OTA TV, and is still a work in progress. Drives/memory have been checked for errors with none found. An attempt to install Mythbuntu (64bit version) in parallel on a separate partition (to check the hardware and firmware) is not a recommended procedure. If you wish additional feedback on some aspect let me know; this email address (we_wor_ama_a_tgmaild_otcom_ remove underscores and replace obvious) is not regularly monitored and can go more than several months, but I will check it over the next few weeks. (today is March 16,2011 --if not recorded elsewhere) Many of the issues noted in the log files (over the three installations-a few are listed) are found on the web dated from 4-5 years ago to last month ... with apparent fixes already in the various kernels (have tried with several versions of a compiled 37.2 kernel...but still exploring that) Many of these seem to be kernel related and may not be specific to Debian as they crop up in other fora. Some kernel reports are apparently just informational... determining which can be a challenge for me. A special thank you to all the people working on the kernel for suggesting that in their past bug reports (on these found errors) to make things less cryptic. It makes it easier. The gory details of the new install last night. -Wireless was not detected with the install but it is detected in the log files on boot. -booting messages suggest a memory space collision error (recompiling to a 37.2 kernel with other options can fix this one, the bios does not have an option for a low memory gap, another of the nags but the kernel does apparently work around both issues. Again thanks to the people working on the kernels.) -Firmware - some of it did not seem to be installed. -it nagged on startup for the ivtv firmware-- did you remember

Bug#613353: sorry, probably wont fix
retitle 445265 Document steps required to enable https tag 445265 +confirmed tag 613353 + wontfix thanks Jörg, I have looked into this and I just keep finding more issues with it. 1.) The flattr stuff is all off-site. I doubt that that could sensibly be made local. Of course it could be cut out but I am not sure if that is desirable. 2.) The promotional logos almost certainly have non-free copyright. Obviously disabling them would be the most sensible thing but it would not be aesthetically enhancing and would not be worth the effort. 3.) The donate javascript is probably non-local for a good reason. Again it could be disabled but is that desirable? 4.) The real killer is that the valid icons, which are currently local are actually non-DFSG so I will have to make them non-local. The request however has real merit. What I would do if I had the time is make the source package generate a second package which required only local resources. However I don't see myself getting round to it. What I think you can do, is tell your browser to not load resources from w3.org etc. That would achieve much the same goal. Bug#618592: zfsutils misses zdb, zinject and ztest (with patch)
-BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE- Hash: SHA1 Package: zfsutils Version: 8.1-4 Severity: normal Tags: patch, kfreebsd The currently shipped version of zfsutils lacks the commands `zdb', `ztest' and `zinject'. Upstream does ship those utilities, so I tried to patch the current package to include them. My patch fixes this issue and provides binaries ready to provides packages: root@kfreebsd:~/testbuild/zfsutils-8.1# LD_PRELOAD=./cddl/lib/libumem/libumem.so ./cddl/lib/libzpool/libzpool.so ./cddl/lib/libavl/libavl.so ./cddl/usr.sbin/zdb/zdb zfs_pool version=14 name='zfs_pool' state=0 txg=4 pool_guid=10142712129494363932 hostname='kfreebsd' ... However packages do not build (but compiling and usage of them succeeds when using the proper libraries) because dpkg-shlibdeps fails to resolve the dependency for libavl, as I did not provide a binary for this package, it is included in the source though and builds fine. Problem is, there is a non ABI and API compatible libavl package in Debian already (http://packages.debian.org/source/squeeze/libavl) which clashes with the implementation those utilities use. You, as developer might choose how to resolve this conflict finally, maybe it is necessary to rename the libavl zfsutils expect for kfreebsd. I attached a patch for the debian directory which solves the original problem though, i.e. it provides a `zdb' enabled zfustils and provides some new binary packages required by those. It is not entirely straightforward to apply the patch, since the source package is, ... well, ... needs some time to get used to. You need a new orig.tar.gz to build the new package, I used r219701 from upstream's SVN. To apply the patch do: root@kfreebsd:~/testbuild# apt-get source zfsutils root@kfreebsd:~/testbuild# rm zfsutils_8.1.orig.tar.gz root@kfreebsd:~/testbuild# cd zfsutils-8.1/ root@kfreebsd:~/testbuild/zfsutils-8.1# patch -p0 ../debian-diff/debian-diff.patch root@kfreebsd:~/testbuild/zfsutils-8.1# make -f debian/rules get-orig-source root@kfreebsd:~/testbuild# mv zfsutils-8.1/debian . root@kfreebsd:~/testbuild# rm -rf zfsutils-8.1 root@kfreebsd:~/testbuild# tar zxf zfsutils_8.1.orig.tar.gz root@kfreebsd:~/testbuild# cd zfsutils-8.1 root@kfreebsd:~/testbuild/zfsutils-8.1# mv ../debian . build as usual from here on. Bug#592137: RFH: bastille - Security hardening tool
Hi, I would gladly help with this. I use Bastille as my main firewall, as well as its tmp-securing script. I have also gone through all steps of Securing Debian Manual as part of my systems' security policy, so no problem with that also. I am currently preparing a package for inclusion in debian (see http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=518696 and the parallel package in http://mentors.debian.net), so I have both already gained some experience with it and enough free time (no lots of packages to distract me) to devote to the bastille-reshaping project. Over the suggested tools, I would prefer git and quilt. They allow to work independently and in a modular way. For example, I could start immediately to separate patches in my branch while I would wait for you to create the Alioth project and init the main git repo there. But I can work with other tools too. Bug#618033: off_t vs long int
Dear all, this bug is about an off_t with 64bit different to a long int on a 32 bit machine and thus kpathsea fails to find a file on CIFS. The configure script for kpathsea includes the appropriate tests for _FILE_OFFSET_BITS and _LARGEFILE. But these tests are disabled as the Build file disables large file support. A discussion [1] (see comment in the Build source on [2] line ~74) on using large file support has already been between debian and texlive (here focused on dvips). [1] http://tug.org/pipermail/tex-k/2010-September/002202.html [2] http://www.tug.org/svn/texlive/trunk/Build/source/Build?revision=21415view=markup I would suggest to coment out the line and let the configure test find the appropriate flags for the offset bits or to limit the option --enable-large-file to kpathsea instead of including the flags explicitly. Bug#541004: O: snes9x -- X binaries for snes9x - Super NES Emulator
For an adoption yes (as the package got removed, there's nothing you can adopt). However, you can try to reintroduce the package again. The old packages will stay available at http://snapshot.debian.org/package/snes9x/ and you can base your work upon them. Thanks for the link, it will really help. So, once I'm done updating the package I'll have to file an ITP and find a sponsor. Is there anything specific to reintroduced packages I should be aware of? (For instance, trying to ensure maximum compatibility with the previous package.) Note however, that according to the removal bug, there's no upstream development any more Fortunately, the project has been taken over and is actively maintained: http://github.com/snes9xgit/snes9x Thanks for your answers. Bug#618317: Naming requirements for /etc/cron.d/ files unclear
severity 618317 wishlist thanks On Mon, Mar 14, 2011 at 11:52:11AM +0100, Vincent den Boer wrote: It appears that the files in /etc/cron.d have naming requirements. When a file ends in .cron (or maybe this also depends on other factors) no error appears in the /var/log/cron.log (enabled through etc/rsyslog.conf), yet the file is ignored. Please read the manpage: __ (...) to add a crontab file to /etc/cron.d. Such files should be named after the package that supplies them. Files must conform to the same naming convention as used by run- parts(8): they must consist solely of upper- and lower-case letters, digits, underscores, and hyphens. If the -l option is specified, then they must conform to the LSB namespace specification, exactly as in the --lsbsysinit option in run-parts. __ I think that the documentation is complete. Cron should at least log an error. Besides that, the naming restrictions for /etc/cron.d/ files should either be documented or removed. Naming restrictions are documented, and they have been for a long time. I can agree that cron could at least log an error when it finds a file in /etc/cron.d/ that it will not process. But we would have to check how to implement it so as to avoid spamming the logs. It might need to be a user-defined option since it is common for packages to leave '.dpkg-old' leftovers in /etc/cron.d/ which admins do not remove and we don't want this to have, as a consequence, a log entry repeated N times and (maybe) filling up whatever partition /var/ is located in. Thus, I'm downgrading this to 'wishlist' Regards Javier signature.asc Description: Digital signature
Bug#618601: runit: paths in upstream tarball are not tardiff/debdiff friendly
Source: runit Version: 2.1.1-6.2 Severity: wishlist Tags: upstream Hi Gerrit, runit's upstream tarball puts the version number in the second path component: $ dpkg-source -x runit*.dsc $ cd runit-* $ ls debian runit-2.1.1 $ tar -tf ../runit_2.1.1.orig.tar.gz | cut -d/ -f1-2 | uniq admin/ admin/runit-2.1.1 This means the sources are not as easy to find as they ought to be on extraction and causes tools like tardiff to treat a change in version number as deletion of all files under one path and creation under another. Please feel free to tag this wontfix if there are good reasons not to put the version number in the first path component. Bug#618602: geiser: fails to install alongside emacs22
Package: geiser Version: 0.1.2-2 Severity: minor Byte-compilation of geiser for emacs22 fails because it doesn't supply the minibuffer package, which geiser-completion needs. That's fair enough, as Debian currently only supplies emacs23 and xemacs21, both of which feature that package. Nevertheless, some of us still have emacs22 installed and would appreciate more graceful accommodation thereof; could you please adjust geiser's emacsen-install script to ignore emacs22, as it already does for the unversioned name emacs? Specifically, I'd recommend changing if [ ${FLAVOR} = emacs ]; then exit 0; fi to case ${FLAVOR} in emacs | emacs2[0-2] ) exit 0 ;; esac to skip emacs22 and (on principle) even older versions. While you're at it, I'd appreciate it if you could please uncomment the logic to set SITEFLAG; geiser doesn't depend on any third-party packages, so running Debian's site-init merely takes extra time and produces extra noise, particularly on systems with lots of other elisp packages installed. (Even if it had such dependencies, I'd favor arranging for it to use --no-site-file and set a relatively minimal load-path, but that's somewhat more involved; in this case, though, there's no such concern.) Bug#618429: ncurses-doc: no 3x man pages in /usr/share/man/man3
On 2011-03-15 03:54 +0100, Vincent Lefevre wrote: Package: ncurses-doc Version: 5.8+20110307-1 Note that none of this is new, the same problem exists in the libncurses5-dev package in squeeze and lenny which held the documentation before I split it out to ncurses-doc. ncurses-doc has /usr/share/doc/ncurses-doc/html/man/*.3x.html files, but not the corresponding man pages in /usr/share/man/man3. More exactly, the manpages are there, but not under the same names. This is because they are renamed (see man/man_db.renames in the ncurses source tree), while the HTML documentation does not receive such treatment. I don't know why this setup with renaming manpages exists, but it has been around at least since ncurses 4.1, released 1997. Note that some other man pages, e.g. reset(1), have references to such man pages in the SEE ALSO section, so that it is annoying not to have access to these man pages with man. This is a fallout from the following change mentioned in NEWS: , | 20061230 | [...] | + used linklint to verify links in the HTML documentation, made fixes | to manpages as needed. ` That change fixed the links in the HTML documentation, but broke the references in the manpages themselves. Hi, And the diff was acknowledged by Julien, so the next stage to happen is the actual upload. You are expected to get the package uploaded to stable. You should run this through your sponsor to upload the package, just like you are running an upload to unstable through your sponsor. If you are unable to find a sponsor for the upload to stable, feel free to ping me and I'll look if I can find the time to do it for this time. Thank you for the explanation. I uploaded the package to m.d.n.: http://mentors.debian.net/debian/pool/main/q/q4wine/ And wrote about it to sponsor. But he is very busy now and doesn't know when he be able to upload package into Debian. Bug#618604: logwatch: kerberos logging not matched
Package: logwatch Version: 7.3.6.cvs20090906-1squeeze1 Severity: normal Tags: patch There are two places that I get a fair number of unmatched log entries that are related to kerberos. The one that would affect the greatest number of machines is in the ssh reporting, where there are Authorized to entries whenever a conection is authorized using kerberos. The second is kdc entries in the secure log. attached are two patches. -- System Information: Debian Release: 6.0 APT prefers stable APT policy: (500, 'stable') Architecture: i386 (i686) Kernel: Linux 2.6.26-1-686 (SMP w/1 CPU core) Locale: LANG=en_US.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=en_US.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/bash Versions of packages logwatch depends on: ii perl 5.10.1-17 Larry Wall's Practical Extraction ii sendmail-bin [mail-transport- 8.14.3-9.4 powerful, efficient, and scalable Versions of packages logwatch recommends: ii libdate-manip-perl6.11-1 module for manipulating dates Versions of packages logwatch suggests: pn fortune-mod none (no description available) -- Configuration Files: /etc/cron.daily/00logwatch changed [not included] -- no debconf information --- sshd.old2011-03-16 14:14:38.0 -0600 +++ sshd.new2011-03-16 14:14:38.0 -0600 @@ -1,6 +1,6 @@ #!/usr/bin/perl ## -# $Id: sshd,v 1.77 2009/02/20 17:49:03 mike Exp $ +# $Id$ ## # $Log: sshd,v $ # Revision 1.77 2009/02/20 17:49:03 mike @@ -220,6 +220,7 @@ my %OtherList = (); my %ChmodErr = (); my %ChownErr = (); +my %krb_relm = (); my $sftpRequests = 0; my $NetworkErrors = 0; @@ -419,6 +420,8 @@ $ChmodErr{$File,$Perm,$Why}++; } elsif (my ($File,$From,$To,$Why) = ($ThisLine =~ /error: chown (.*) (.*) (.*) failed: (.*)/)) { $ChownErr{$File,$From,$To,$Why}++; + } elsif (my ($user,$relm) = ($ThisLine =~ /Authorized to ([^ ]+), krb5 principal \1@([^ ]+) \(krb5_kuserok\)/)) { + $krb_relm{$relm}{$user}++; } else { # Report any unmatched entries... unless ($ThisLine =~ /fwd X11 connect/) { @@ -748,6 +751,19 @@ } } +if ( ($Detail == 7 keys %krb_relm 1) || ($Detail 8 keys %krb_relm) ){ + print \nSucessfull Kerberos Authentication from ,(scalar keys %krb_relm), relm:\n; + foreach my $relm (keys %krb_relm) { +if($Detail 9){ + print,$relm,:\n; + foreach my $user(keys %{$krb_relm{$relm}}){ +print ,$user,: . $krb_relm{$relm}{$user} .
