Bug#601590: [debhelper] debhelper: cmake buildsystem does not clean builddir if cancelled during configure
Hello, On ketvirtadienis 21 Liepa 2011 00:22:20 gregory hainaut wrote: Package: debhelper Version: 8.9.1 Tags: patch Hello all, I'm facing the same issue for a personal project. In the correct run, debhelper detect the clean phase as a makefile build. However in our case the Makefile did not exist. The logic to detect the cmake build is only enabled during the configure phase. So debhelper fails to detect the build system. I attach a small patch to change the behavior. I do a quick test and seem to be fine. 1/ It enable the detection of the cmake build system during the clean phase. 2/ I copy past the clean function from makefile.pm to cmake.pm. It makes no sense to call `make clean` if Makefile does not exist. Probably you didn't pass source or build directory properly. -- Modestas Vainius mo...@debian.org signature.asc Description: This is a digitally signed message part.

If I replace it with another character, it doesn't give the error (but obviously doesn't find the message with the above message-id). That's because mairix interprets it as a substring search even if there's non-numeric data after the equal sign. Maybe there should be a way to escape those special characters too, I don't know. Given how popular gmail is, it's a major pain for me because I rely on mairix to find out where a given message-id is in my local mail spool is. Bug#586327: what does postgrey not starting have to do with iproute?
Hello! I completely fail to see why http://bugs.debian.org/586327 has ANYTHING to do with iproute What do you want me to investigate? If your program fails to bind to a port, that's between your program and the kernel. no network administration tool is involved there. The bug reporter even mentioning using netstat (part of net-tools!) for troubleshooting rather then using iproute commands. Please also notify the package maintainers when you reassign a bug to someone else otherwise it might go unnoticed for a long time Unless you can inform me on what you want me to investigate, I'll be reassigning this back to postgrey (and since it's been sitting tagged with unrep, moreinfo for a long time I suggest you just close it after that.) -- Andreas Henriksson -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. Bug#316521: dpkg: stale directories when packages install conffiles to subsubdirectories of /etc
Hi Ondrej, On Wed, 18 May 2011, Ondřej Surý wrote: I'm just not sure what the correct solution is. Instead of purge_dir maybe the right answer is manage-manual-conffile and/or manage-manual-file. And it would drop the file on removal/purge and try to remove the parent directories if they are no longer owned. For now, the preinst/prerm/postinst would be a no-op but the postrm would do the removal. Later when we can tell dpkg that the package installed some manual files, the registration would happen in postinst and in the other scripts the command would become a no-op since dpkg itself would do the removal. Sounds good. The only problem I see is that it could be files (as in /var/log/package), so maybe a pattern is needed? Something like: dpkg-maintscript-helper manage-manual-files /var/log/package/*.log* Or maybe I am overcomplicating stuff and we already know how to handle logfiles and this is really for low-number of files. Anyway I think that my patch would work just like that, just rename the purge_dir to what you like :) Thinking a bit more about it, I believe it's more reasonable to go with a purge_related_files command. It would indeed accept several files and/or directories. Patterns should be expanded by the shell so that the function itself doesn't have to deal with patterns. You patch is not really ready for this, I'm commenting below. On Thu, 12 May 2011, Ondřej Surý wrote: I have implemented the command. It doesn't go with corresponding manpage section and probably needs some polishing, but it works in my case... Yeah, it would be nice if you could finish the work including the required documentation. See my other comments below: In fact, I needed to add dpkg-maintscript-helper purge_dir $phpini only to php5-cli.postrm to cleanup the cruft. All dpkg-maintscript-helper commands must support being called in all maintainer scripts and must ensure they are a no-op in maintainer scripts where nothing should be done. This is currently not the case for your new command. For instance dh_installdeb makes use of this characteristic to generate the same snippet in all maintainer scripts based on what the packager provided in debian/package.maintscript. +purge_dir() { Oviously renamed to purge_related_files. + local DIRECTORY=$1 + local PACKAGE=$2 + if [ ${PACKAGE} = -- -o -z ${PACKAGE} ]; then + PACKAGE=${DPKG_MAINTSCRIPT_PACKAGE} + fi So we need to accept multiple parameters here. It probably means that we should get rid of the PACKAGE parameter and just hope that DPKG_MAINTSCRIPT_PACKAGE is set. And the algorithm should be something like this: for f in $files; do if [ -L $f ] || [ ! -d $f ]; then rm $f # add $(dirname $f) to a list of directories else # add $f to a list of directories fi done for d in $dirlist; do purge_dir $dir # what your current function does done I'm not sure what's the best way to handle the list of directories to correctly deal with path that includes spaces... possibly a temporary file. + while [ $DIRECTORY != / ]; do + + local OWNED_BY=$(dpkg-query -S ${DIRECTORY} 2/dev/null | cut -f 1 -d :) + + if [ -z ${OWNED_BY} -o ${OWNED_BY} = ${PACKAGE} ]; then + [ -d ${DIRECTORY} ] \ + rmdir --ignore-fail-on-non-empty ${DIRECTORY} + + # Directory was not removed + if [ -d ${DIRECTORY} ]; then + echo Unable to remove ${DIRECTORY}: directory not empty + return 1 We don't want the postrm to fail just because of this. Bug#601590: [debhelper] debhelper: cmake buildsystem does not clean builddir if cancelled during configure

-- Modestas Vainius mo...@debian.org Hello, Well in this corner-case situation the idea was to remove the buildir, not to call `make clean`. Actually the current code never call `make clean` because rmdir_builddir nukes the builddir that contains the makefile. Previous patch will not change this behavior. In my opinion for cmake rmdir_builddir is enough but I wanted to keep change as small as possible. The current use case: 1/ run dh_auto_configure but interrupt before the end (error or manually interrupt). It will create a builddir but without makefile. The builddir will contains various files (binary and text). ... 2/ then do dh_auto_clean (rebuild of package for example). For the moment the builddir is left untouched actually dh_auto_build will do nothing because it call the default clean function (from memory, inside BuildSystem.pm). Note, if dh_auto_configure finished sucessfully, the buildir is properly remove during dh_auto_clean (this time clean comes from makefile.pm). Best regards, Gregory
Bug#634956: ncurses-base: xterm should have hs, tsl and fsl (in other word: use status line for window title)
Package: ncurses-base Version: 5.9-1 Severity: wishlist Hello, Graphical terminal emulator have a useful specific feature that other do not have: the window title. But here again, they use different control sequence to access to it. I think this makes this feature a good candidate for terminfo, but there exist no capability related to “window title”. Fortunately, the graphical terminal emulator often miss another feature, the status line, which has a function very close to the window title. In fact the window title is perceived as replacing, or implementing a status line for graphical terminal emulators. Thus, several terminal emulators declared the hs, tsl and fls capabilities to control the status line: this is the case of terminator, rxvt-unicode and st, for instance. So, would it be possible to add hs, tsl, fsl and wsl to the xterm definition? I think that would be: hs, tsl=\E]0;, fsl=^G, wsl=-1, This is useful to write terminal-independant shell configuration that set the window title. A common use is to add the working directory to the window title, for instance. -- System Information: Debian Release: wheezy/sid APT prefers testing APT policy: (990, 'testing'), (500, 'unstable'), (1, 'experimental') Architecture: amd64 (x86_64) Kernel: Linux 2.6.39-2-amd64 (SMP w/4 CPU cores) Locale: LANG=fr_FR.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=fr_FR.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/dash -- no debconf information signature.asc Description: Digital signature

The terminfo manpage only indicates that tsl is to go to the status line, first column. Then the status line may allow to use control sequence; this is indicated by the capability eslok. Then there is also the wsl capability that indicates the status line width if it is different from the terminal width: for rxvt-unicode it is set to -1, which I guess is to indicate that it has a free width. -- Tanguy Ortolo signature.asc Description: Digital signature
Bug#634962: horde3: Problem with latest security fix for lenny - Required secret is invalid
Package: horde3 Version: 3.2.2+debian0-2+lenny3 Severity: important The latest security fix introduced a problem. For example: if you go to Options - Global Options - Personal Information you get a notice in the WebInterface saying: Required secret is invalid - potentially malicious request. Bug#624582: bcfg2: Bcfg2 client ignores nonexistent paths
Even though the patch itself is trivial we need to think about how the program changes when it has been applied, instead of just the simple mechanical changes in the patch. The resulting change isn't a trivial two line bugfix, applying the patch actually means enabling a new feature that hasn't existed before (about 40 lines of previously disabled code). In my mind this is more comparable to a new upstream version entirely, Thanks for looking into this. In my view, the crucial difference to a new upstream release is that we're talking about a feature which is documented to work in the version shipped with squeeze, so users might burn their time trying to track down why it doesn't. So, personally, I'd at least add a note to the README.Debian file stating that this feature is broken in squeeze. -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. Bug#634970: parrot: Parrot should declare dependency on perlapi virtual package
Package: parrot Version: 3.3.0-1 Severity: important Hello Currently, parrot on i386 trigger FTBS (#634105) for rakudo. Parrot uses Storable to generate some interface which is used during rakudo's build. Parrot for i386 was compiled with perl5.10, hence Storable's data is compatible only with perl5.10. Now that perl 5.12 is standard on sid, rakudo is built with perl 5.12 and thus fails to uses parrot's files. For more details, see the following thread: http://lists.alioth.debian.org/pipermail/pkg-rakudo-devel/2011-May/16.html The FTBS on rakudo can be solved by a binNMU on parrot/i386. Bug#634972: network-manager: inconvenient for manual config editing
Package: network-manager Version: 0.8.4.0-2 Severity: wishlist I configured a wireless connection on my system with NetworkManager. It it very unintuitive, to say the least. NetworkManager provides /etc/NetworkManager/system-connections/ . A properly-written config file dropped in the should do the trick. Sadly there is no such example config file in the the docus directory of the package. Below is a slightly-obfuscated version of the file that I used: [connection] type=802-11-wireless id=TheNetwork # Note: you MUST unrem this but with a new UUID of your own #uuid=09c4b373-d842-0198-5d8f-44894de25d0ea0 [802-11-wireless] ssid=TheNameOfTheNetwork security=802-11-wireless-security [802-11-wireless-security] key-mgmt=wpa-psk psk=SECRET This was still not good enough. It took me a while (and code browsing) to figure out that the interface is considered to be unavailable because the global wireless option was disabled, in /var/lib/NetworkManager/NetworkManager.state That configuration file is not mentioned anywhere in NetworkManager(8). Likewise there is no firendly warning in the logs hey, we found a wireless interface but we won't use it, as wireless support is disabled. Another minor issue is the syntax of nmcli. It seems that nmcli will find the longest possible method to define a command. To start the network interface: nmcli con up id TheNetwork nmcli con down id TheNetwork I just wish there would be a command-line interface that would do the Right Thing[tm] with a shorter command-line. -- System Information: Debian Release: wheezy/sid APT prefers testing APT policy: (500, 'testing'), (1, 'experimental') Architecture: amd64 (x86_64) Kernel: Linux 2.6.39-2-amd64 (SMP w/2 CPU cores) Locale: LANG=he_IL.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=he_IL.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/bash Versions of packages network-manager depends on: ii adduser 3.113 add and remove users and groups ii dbus 1.4.12-4simple interprocess messaging syst ii isc-dhcp-client 4.1.1-P1-17 ISC DHCP client ii libc62.13-7 Embedded GNU C Library: Shared lib ii libdbus-1-3 1.4.12-4simple interprocess messaging syst ii libdbus-glib-1-2 0.94-4 simple interprocess messaging syst ii libgcrypt11 1.4.6-7 LGPL Crypto library - runtime libr ii libglib2.0-0 2.28.6-1The GLib library of C routines ii libgnutls26 2.10.5-2the GNU TLS library - runtime libr ii libgudev-1.0-0 171-3 GObject-based wrapper library for ii libnl1 1.1-7 library for dealing with netlink s ii libnm-glib2 0.8.4.0-2 network management framework (GLib ii libnm-util1 0.8.4.0-2 network management framework (shar ii libpolkit-gobject-1-00.101-4 PolicyKit Authorization API ii libuuid1 2.17.2-9.1 Universally Unique ID library ii lsb-base 3.2-27 Linux Standard Base 3.2 init scrip ii udev 171-3 /dev/ and hotplug management daemo ii wpasupplicant0.7.3-3 client support for WPA and WPA2 (I Versions of packages network-manager recommends: ii dnsmasq-base 2.57-1 A small caching DNS proxy and DHCP ii iptables 1.4.11.1-2 administration tools for packet fi ii modemmanager 0.4.997-1 D-Bus service for managing modems ii policykit-1 0.101-4framework for managing administrat ii ppp 2.4.5-5Point-to-Point Protocol (PPP) - da Versions of packages network-manager suggests: ii avahi-autoipd 0.6.30-5 Avahi IPv4LL network address confi -- no debconf information -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. Bug#634976: bluez: Please install ALSA plugin in the multiarch directory
Package: bluez-alsa Version: 4.94-2 Severity: important Hi, alsa-lib will imminently switch to Multiarch, and plugins will move from /usr/lib/alsa-lib to /usr/lib/triplet/alsa-lib, which means bluez-alsa will be unusable as soon as this happens. The triplet dir for each arch can be obtained with: `dpkg-architecture -qDEB_HOST_MULTIARCH`, see http://wiki.debian.org/Multiarch/Implementation for all the details. You should modify bluez to install the plugin into the multiarch directory, and maybe consider the complete move to multiarch of bluez at the same time. A NMU will follow a few days after the upload of alsa-lib to ensure the new alsa-lib can transition to testing soon enough so it does not disrupt current transitions. -- System Information: Debian Release: wheezy/sid APT prefers unstable APT policy: (500, 'unstable'), (1, 'experimental') Architecture: amd64 (x86_64) Kernel: Linux 2.6.39-2-amd64 (SMP w/2 CPU cores) Locale: LANG=ca_ES.UTF-8@valencia, LC_CTYPE=ca_ES.UTF-8@valencia (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/dash Versions of packages bluez depends on: ii dbus 1.4.12-5simple interprocess messaging syst ii libbluetooth34.94-2 Library to use the BlueZ Linux Blu ii libc62.13-10 Embedded GNU C Library: Shared lib ii libcap-ng0 0.6.6-1 An alternate POSIX capabilities li ii libdbus-1-3 1.4.12-5simple interprocess messaging syst ii libglib2.0-0 2.28.6-2GLib library of C routines ii libudev0 171-3 libudev shared library ii libusb-0.1-4 2:0.1.12-18 userspace USB programming library ii lsb-base 3.2-27 Linux Standard Base 3.2 init scrip ii module-init-tools3.16-1 tools for managing Linux kernel mo ii python-dbus 0.84.0-1simple interprocess messaging syst ii python-gobject 2.28.6-4Python bindings for the GObject li ii udev 171-3 /dev/ and hotplug management daemo bluez recommends no packages. bluez suggests no packages. -- no debconf information -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. It has been already implemented (#568980), perhaps you faced #628769.
Bug#634696: apt: http transport dies with signal 10
package apt severity 634696 serious merge 634696 634925 thanks Hello all, On Tue, Jul 19, 2011 at 15:44, Sébastien Bernard s...@frankengul.org wrote: root# apt-get update Get:1 http://ftp.de.debian.org sid InRelease [146 kB] E: Method http has died unexpectedly! Further more, the diff between these two versions is pretty small and doesn't include changes to the http acquire method. So, for a start, could someone with access to a sparc-box recompile 0.8.15 with gcc-4.6 to verify that it is indeed compiler related? (by observing that this rebuild would be broken, too) (Adding d-sparc@d.l.o so they can have a look at that, too) Best regards David Kalnischkies -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. Bug#634956: ncurses-base: xterm should have hs, tsl and fsl (in other word: use status line for window title)
Tanguy Ortolo, 2011-07-21 13:04 UTC+0200: Oh, right, I missed it, sorry. Okay, that was my suggestion but are now this topic better than I do, so I shall let you decide what to do with this report now. Sorry, one more reflexion about that. There may exist other solutions, but if the decision is between adding or not hs, tsl and fsl to the xterm definition, I think this is the question that should be considered: will the situation be better or worse than it is currently? For what I see, the current situation is: * many shell configurations and programs use hardcoded escape sequences for xterm only, and do not use other terminal's window title features because they do not know about it; * several other graphical terminal emulators expose tsl and fsl for window title, simply ignoring the column argument; * as far as I know, there exist no program that use the status line column selection, but I may be wrong: did you get many bug reports about rxvt-unicode's tsl that does not honor the position argument? Introducing tsl and fsl would: * allow to write portable shell configurations and programs; * break all the programs that rely on the status line column selection. If the number of programs that rely on the status line column selection is actually null, then I think this would only be a benefit. -- ,--. : /` ) Tanguy Ortolo xmpp:tan...@ortolo.eu irc://irc.oftc.net/Elessar | `-'Debian Maintainer \_ signature.asc Description: Digital signature
