Bug#650565: mathgl: FTBFS: mgl_data_png.cpp:183:37: error: 'Z_BEST_COMPRESSION' was not declared in this scope

2011-12-01 Thread Dimitrios Eftaxiopoulos
Hello Nobuhiro,
this problem occured in version 2~rc1-1 of mathgl which has been uploaded to
experimental. I have created a patch there that fixes this build failure for
the 2~rc1-1 version.

Version 1.11.2-6 builds fine in the official architectures of sid as far as I
can
see.

Anyway, I plan to upload new debian versions for both 1.11.2 and 2~rc1 soon,
so I will check how thing go.

Thanks for your work for mathgl

 Hi.
krb5_locate_kdc was not a public symbol.
It was not available in krb5.h without defining KRB5_PRIVATE.
I'm not sure whether it was available with KRB5_PRIVATE.

Those are the symbols that are part of MIT's stable ABI; there are a
similar set of public symbols for GSS-API. All other symbols are
unstable and may disappear in major versions. If any of the symbols in
the public ABI change, the soname will change.

 I sent a note about krb5_locate_kdc to the samba folks many years ago;

Hello Sam. Thanks for your clear analysis on this.

Sure, I remember this. IIRC, we even had an old bug report in samba
for this. We probably need to check how it got fixed and deal about
this with upstream samba.

Added to my TODO pile, but I would appreciate technical help from
Steve Langasek and/or you. Moreover, I won't be able to deal with this
until next next at minimum.

I have tested this for all nics with the same results. With tcpdump I see the
problem is that packets are going out, but not going in. There are no such
problem with 2.6.32 kernel and for Windows-7 with any kernel.

So, is there some way to reproduce it? Or maybe to fix it once
the problem appears? I still can't do anything with it since I
failed to reproduce the problem.

Thanks,

well, ntp doesn't install 'changelog' as upstream changelog, so use

This is a different issue, caused by a premature update of libsoup
and glib-networking in unstable, while the control-center able to
handle settings for these new versions is still in experimental.

Hasn't this been solved yet? I'm running GNOME 3 now, but Epiphany
(3.2) still doesn't use the global proxy settings. Not even Iceweasel
works if I choose 'Use system proxy settings' now. Chromium appears to
work fine, though.

Is this a known problem? Is there a bug for it?

Thank you for taking a look a the bug.

On 12/01/2011 02:02 AM, peter green wrote:
It seems that libasis2008-dev is gone from the archive replaced by
 libasis2010-dev

Yes, this is true.

Furthermore the new libasis2008-dev package seems to conflict with gnat-4.4

 I changed Build-Depends line to

 Build-Depends: debhelper (= 7), gnat, libasis2010-dev, quilt

With these changed build-depends it was possible to build the package.
I have not tested if the resulting package works as I have no idea what it
is supposed to do (i'm just taking flyby looks at rc bugs here).

I need to migrate the package to the latest GNAT version and update the
dependencies. Additionally there are some further changes needed to
remain compliant with the Debian Ada policy. I have not had time to do
this but will upgrade the package over the coming holidays.

Thanks again for taking the time to look at the bug.

Regards,
Adrian

Bug#650563: libgpiv: FTBFS: ../../../lib/io_png.c:170:39: error: 'png_voidp_NULL' undeclared (first use in this function)

2011-12-01 Thread Gerber van der Graaf
Hi,
I do not have Debian/Experimental connected on my Debian/Unstable system
and would like to avoid that as it also is a production machine.
Therefore, I prefer to wait until libpng-1.4 will arrive in
Debian/Unstable before I will send in a new package.

From some searches on the web I understand that the macros
png_voidp_NULL and png_error_ptr_NULL (probably all
PNG_NO_TYPECAST_NULL) are no longer supported in libpng-1.4. These can
easily be changed to 0 or to (png_error_ptr)NULL. I prefer the last
solution.

z_best_compression is not found as probably a dependency to zlib1g-dev
will have to be added in debian/control file. Currently, libgpiv
compiles fine without this dependency using pbuilder for
Debian/Unstable. There is no libpng-dev in Testing which depends on
zlib1g-dev. I only found libpng-1.5, which depends on zlib1g. So this is
more 'bug' of libpng-1.5(-dev) than of libgpiv.

There have been done some major changes (complete re-organization of the
source code) in libgpiv and soon some other (improvements on the
accuracy of the resulting data) will have been done yet. In case you
need libgpiv (and pygpiv) you might change them manually.

Sincerely, Gerber

 Hi,

I uploaded libpng 1.5 to experimental.
libpng maintainers plan to transition from libpng 1.2 to 1.5.
I am checking build it the package depend to libpng.

I noticed your package FTBFS by libpng 1.5.
 I attached build log.
 Could you check your package?

2011-12-01 Thread Paul Seyfert
Package: yeahconsole
Version: 0.3.4-2
Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,

   * What led up to the situation?

I switched from LXDE to gnome3, having yeahconsole in autostart.

   * What exactly did you do (or not do) that was effective (or
 ineffective)?

I tested the yeahconsole shortcut to see whether my autostart was executed
correctly. indeed yeahconsole came down, but not below the gnome pannel.
instead it appeared under the gnomepanel i.e. the first two lines are invisible
hidden under the panel

   * What was the outcome of this action?

well I can't see what I'm typing in the yeahconsole (makeing two linefeeds
brings the cursor in the visible region, an one can use yeahconsole as usual -
however editors become unusable in yeahconsole for editing the first lines of a
file)

   * What outcome did you expect instead?

Instead of a placement under the panel it should be placed below the panel,
just like maximized windows.

Bug#559999: More about this bug

2011-12-01 Thread Juhapekka Tolvanen

Check out this screenshot of uxterm running xmms2 list | less:

http://iki.fi/juhtolv/tmp/bugreports/XMMS2/01/xmms2_UTF-8_01.png

I think that XMMS2 behaves like this: When tags of certain MP3-file in
certain directory are changed, XMMS2 do not re-read them. I think it
just uses some cached values, when that file is added to the playlist.
Sometimes those cached values are wrong.

But when playing MP3-files actually proceeds to that aforementioned
file, then XMMS2 re-reads tags and whenever needed, it corrects its
display of those tags. That is what is happening in that screenshot.

I do not know, what you should do. Maybe you can close this bug. Or
maybe tags should be read again, whenever some file is added to the
playlist. But that would make its operation slower.

Version of my Debian-package called xmms2-client-cli is 0.8+dfsg-1+b1 .

Bug#613321: linux-image-amd64: Please enable 'memtest' option for all linux kernels

One reliable contributor. Or just describe a use case that makes it a

package, replacing memtest86+ isn't one.)

Thanks for your interest, and hope that helps,

How much do You need? 3000? I think 2 independent reports are enough to

First, if you think I don't believe you then you're wrong.

Second, it does not matter how many people can reproduce the issue, be it 1

something common in their environment. So far, my environment does not let

not on any other CPU (just as an example).

I'm not going to argue with you here - this is pointless.

Bug#650623: sd: pull fails with new libnet-github-perl

Bug#649175: udev: systemd service file has incorrect udevd path

2011-12-01 Thread Sedat Dilek
Hi,

I pinged Marco on #systemd on 23-Nov-2011, but got no answer.
I can *confirm* this bug has stolen also my time, not much, but
anyway, the fix is trivial by checking Debian's BTS and changed
/lib/systemd/system/udev.service file accordingly.
Just FYI, the problem occured here with systemd not with the default sysvinit.

I really cannot understand why a one-liner change causes an upload to
be delayed.
Marco, can you explain why there is still no upload?
Any showstoppers?

Please, think about builders of Linux live-systems based on Debian!

If I understood correctly the usecase is a bit different from
memtest86+. With the latter you have a test case to determine if your
RAM is bad (or not). With the memtest kernel option memory is tested
before it's given out to kmalloc. So it is able in some cases to just
not give out bad parts of RAM allowing to use RAM that is a bit broken.

Having said that I don't know if it's sensible to add to Debian as I
didn't test runtime and binary size overhead.

Best regards
Uwe

Bug#649489: [DRE-maint] Bug#649489: Bug#649489: ruby-rdiscount: use system libmarkdown2 instead of embedded one

2011-12-01 Thread Martin Ueding
I just cloned the rdiscount git repo, and in
54da94bd495fb08fdedaeb9f64d604ea91c5cc66, there is

exp = %(ul\n lia href=#Level.1Level 1/a/li\n liul\n
 lia href=#Level.2Level 2/a/li\n /ul/li\n/ul)

So there is the one with the period, not with a plus sign. If I read
your test output correctly, discount gives the period, but
ruby-rdiscount expects the plus. So this seems fixed in upstream git
commit dc9b1ce9d764650486e812a3781122c7d96002de update TOC tests for
slight changes in discount 2.x.

So I guess we will have to wait for a new upstream release or use the
git/master version instead.

Should I ask the upstream author to release it?

Bug#559999: More about this bug

2011-12-01 Thread Daniel Svensson
2011/12/1 Juhapekka Tolvanen juht...@iki.fi:

Check out this screenshot of uxterm running xmms2 list | less:

 http://iki.fi/juhtolv/tmp/bugreports/XMMS2/01/xmms2_UTF-8_01.png

I think that XMMS2 behaves like this: When tags of certain MP3-file in
certain directory are changed, XMMS2 do not re-read them. I think it
just uses some cached values, when that file is added to the playlist.
Sometimes those cached values are wrong.

To re-index all files:
xmms2 server rehash

To re-index all files matching some pattern:
xmms2 server rehash url~bjork AND album~something

or perhaps
xmms2 server rehash artist:brokenunicodebjörk

...etc, for more info on patterns check the man-page.

We have a utility called xmms2-mlib-updater than you can drop a
symlink to in your ~/.config/xmms2/startup.d that will automatically
add files to the medialib, and rehash files as they change.

If you haven't upgraded to XMMS2 0.8, then use nyxmms2 instead of
xmms2 in the above examples.

Bug#650626: bash: autocompletion now prepends environment variables with \$, fails on 2nd autocomplete

2011-12-01 Thread Moshe Yudkowsky
Package: bash
Version: 4.2-1
Severity: normal

The latest bash changes how autocomplete works. When I use TAB or
double-ESC to expand a environment variable that resolves to a directory
name, bash will show the contents of the directory, but then the command
line is repeased with \$ prepended to the environment variable. A
second attempt to autocomplete then fails.

This means that one of the main uses of autocomplete, namely to make
searches through a directory tree, no longer works.

Example: attempt to view contents of directory and then cd into proper
subdirectory

FOO=bar

where /bar is the name of a directory

# cd $FOO/[TAB]

== expected (old) results: directory entries displayed, command line
re-displayed as cd bar/ with cursor at end of line
Hitting TAB again will cause he dir entries to be displayed again
If we start to type the name of dir entry and hit TAB again, the
new candidate filenames displayed

== actual (new) results: diretory entries displayed, command line
re-displayed as cd \$FOO/
Now if we hit TAB again, the line refuses to complete because of the
variable name is escaped
This of course will hold true if we attempt to autocomplet to a
subdirectory

I tried installing the bash-completion package and sourcing it, but it
does not help.

Bug#633526: vserver kernel breaks ssh public_key authentication on NFS

Herbert Poetzl wrote:

we now understand the problem, and it was fixed for
 3.0.4 with the following patch:

 http://vserver.13thfloor.at/ExperimentalT/delta-nfs-fix02.diff

I can confirm that this patch is fixing the issue. I have tested the patch on
top of linux-2.6 2.6.32-37 on a production server
and we no longer experience the NFS uid/gid issue.

The issue can easily be tested by doing ls -l $file on a NFS mount. The
values will show up correctly.
After cat $file /dev/null; ls -l $file it will suddenly show wrong uid/gid
values of: 4294967294/4294967294 (-2/-2)
Waiting for about 20 seconds ls -l $file will show again correct values. So
the client cached values are clearly the problem.

I strongly recommend to include the patch into the next stable point release as
this is major NFS regression from Debian Lenny.

Bug#649588: Workaround

2011-12-01 Thread Ben Harris
FYI, I tried following this instruction in apt.conf(5): it should be
tried to explicitly install the package APT is unable to configure
immediately. Specifically, I manually ran:

dpkg -i --auto-deconfigure /var/cache/apt/archives/perl-modules_5.14.2-5_all.deb
dpkg --auto-deconfigure -i /var/cache/apt/archives/perl_5.14.2-5_i386.deb
dpkg --auto-deconfigure -i /var/cache/apt/archives/perl-base_5.14.2-5_i386.deb

The latter two were because having the old versions prevented perl-modules
from configuring and having a half-upgraded perl worried me. After that,
apt-get -f dist-upgrade worked.

Package: pdftk
Version: 1.44-4
Severity: important

I have been scanning some documents as pdf's, then bursting the
document using pdftk, and this worked fine on the older version (I
think v 1.44-1, but it might have been v 1.41) of pdftk but after
upgrading to v 1.44-4 when I burst a version 1.3 pdf file I get empty
pages, but if I use pdf2ps and then ps2pdf (creating a version 1.4 pdf
file) the pdftk burst works fine.

Examples are at ojs.klaki.net/original.pdf, ojs.klaki.net/burst1.pdf
and ojs.klaki.net/burst2.pdf. The files burst1.pdf and burst2.pdf are
the resulst of bursting file original.pdf and they seem to contain
some data but evince can't view it and neither can acrobat reader.

Command used is pdftk filename burst

Bug#650635: unetbootin: Android x86 gives missing operating system error

2011-12-01 Thread Jonathan Lane
Package: unetbootin
Version: 563-2
Severity: normal
Tags: upstream

UNetbootin doesn't create functional bootable media from Android-x86 .iso
images. It goes through all the normal steps, but booting from the resulting
drive, on the exact hardware it was targeted for, I see missing operating
system immediately followed by attempting to boot from the hard drive. This
is flagged upstream because I've heard of Unetbootin on OS X causing the same
problem with the same .iso.

Bug#643763: dexconf fails due to missing xserver-xorg/config/device/bus_id

2011-12-01 Thread Edward Welbourne
This crash is fixed in the current upstream driver (as of 6.14.1), but
only by disallowing rotation when acceleration is disabled.

ah. That is sad.

Build Operating System: Linux 2.6.37-trunk-amd64 x86_64 Debian
 [...]
 (--) RADEON(0): Chipset: ATI Radeon HD 5450 (ChipID = 0x68f9)
 [...]
(II) RADEON(0): GPU accel disabled or not working, using shadowfb for KMS

So this is your core problem, and AFAICT it's basically due to the X
radeon driver being too old to properly support your card.

and, I take it, no newer radeon driver for X is available. The perils
of letting sysadmin give me a shiny new box with a very modern
graphics card, I guess :-(

Thanks for at least identifying what's wrong !

Eddy.

I guess ideally the driver could try allocating a smaller framebuffer if
it fails the first allocation. Or just not try a too big resolution for
that little vram in the first place. Not sure how easy a fix would
 be...

Upstream has now chosen to lower the default color depth on low memory
cards in both the kernel¹ (as of Linux 3.2-rc2) and the DDX². Do you
think this is enough to close the bug?

Bug#648604: One more problem with this approach

2011-12-01 Thread Santiago Garcia Mantinan
Hi!

I've just discovered one more problem with this last approach, when nobody
is logged in on X (lightdm is asking for username) ck-history will report
that lightdm is logged in, this is ck-history relevant output:
lightdm tty7 :0 Thu Dec 1 16:12 still logged in

so you can get your screen locked with the lightdm account like it just
happened to me after hibernating with nobody logged in :-(

I have not yet thought how to avoid this, ovbious workaround would be a
|grep -v ^lightdm before the sed but I don't really like that one.

Regards...

Bug#650637: x11-xkb-utils: setxkbmap -layout us -variant intl doesn't work properly with accent dead keys (`, ', ~, , ^, etc)

2011-12-01 Thread Felipe Balbi
Package: x11-xkb-utils
Version: 7.6+4
Severity: important

Dear Maintainer,

   * What led up to the situation?

A recent dist-upgrade (couple of days ago)

   * What exactly did you do (or not do) that was effective (or
 ineffective)?

setxkbmap -layout us -variant intl didn't work at all. Now
I either don't support for áéíóú characters or I need to hold
AltGr key for those, but US International layout is supposed
to support diacritics by treating `'^ keys as dead keys.

   * What was the outcome of this action?

No accentuated keys supported.

   * What outcome did you expect instead?

áéíóú were supposed to come out by pressing ' followed by
a vowel

Bug#650638: pulseaudio: Cheese has a crackling noise in recordings

2011-12-01 Thread Kees de Jong
Package: pulseaudio
Version: 1.0-4
Severity: normal

Hi,

I experience a crackling noise while I record a video with Cheese. The audio
is proper again when I restart the PulseAudio daemon.
But only for about 20 seconds. The sound is also proper for 20 seconds when I
mess around with the gstreamer-properties.
But non of these methods are enough for me to do a normal recording.

I did modify my daemon.conf to get more performance, but I get the same issues
with the default configuration.
I hope I supplied enough information.

Grtz.

Bug#650639: fluxbox crash when expanding the toolbar to All Heads

2011-12-01 Thread Rodrigo Campos
Package: fluxbox
Version: 1.3.2-2
Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,

I have a Dual head configuration on my notebook at work. Just in case it
matters, to configure it (i've just configured it) I used these xrandr
lines:

xrandr --output VGA1 --mode 1024x768 --scale 1x1.2 --left-of LVDS1
xrandr --output VGA1 --mode 1024x768 --scale 1x1 --left-of LVDS1

When I right-click on the toolbar and go to On Head... there are 3
options. Head 1, Head 2 and All Heads. If I use Head 1 or Head
2 it works okay. But when I click on All heads it crash and goes back
to my xdm login.

If you need more information, please let me know.

Thanks a lot,
Rodrigo

Bug#648604: [Pkg-xfce-devel] Bug#648604: One more problem with this approach

Instead of trying to find workarounds, why not adding this utmp support
to lightdm directly?

Netselect can be installed with the set-user-id bit set, so that it will run
with the permissions of the \root\ user. Since netselect needs these
permissions to work properly, unprivileged users cannot run it unless it is
installed this way.
msgstr
