Sorry again, just missed all others in CC. 2012/1/11, Jonathan Nieder jrnie...@gmail.com: Please use a subject line. Often, preserving the subject line of the message you are replying to is enough. Oh, I'm sorry. I don't follow. Isn't COMPAT_DIR _supposed_ to point to /etc/bash_completion.d? Which completion is not working? If I specify /etc/bash_completion.d in this variable noone from /usr/share/bash-completion/completions/ will work. Bug#655441: ITP: mma -- Musical MIDI Accompaniment
Package: wnpp Severity: wishlist Owner: Joel Roth jo...@pobox.com * Package name: mma Version : 12.01 Upstream Author : Bob van der Poel b...@mellowood.ca * URL : http://www.mellowood.ca/mma * License : GPL Programming Lang: Python Description : MMA - Musical MIDI Accompaniment Musical MIDI Accompaniment, MMA, generates standard MIDI files which can be used as a backup track for a soloist. It was written especially for me--I am an aspiring saxophonist and wanted a program to play the piano and drums so I could practice my jazz solos. With MMA I can create a track based on the chords in a song, transpose it to the correct key for my instrument, and play my very bad improvisations until they get a bit better. I also lead a small combo group which is always missing at least one player. With MMA generated tracks the group can practice and perform even if a rhythm player is missing. This all works much better than I expected when I started to write the program... so much better that I have used MMA generated tracks for live performances with great success. Around the world musicians are using MMA for practice, performance and in their studios. Bug#655280: gspiceui: segfaults when switching from gnucap to ngspice after a simulation
Hi Yann Does it work for ngspice if you start it as an ngspice simulator? In the case of the simulation currently loaded there are errors, which I have myself trouble to parse, and for which gspiceui displays an error popup without a message - I suspect the problem to come from a node named +5V by geda. Can you please send me the troubling schematic, or some simplified one. And if so, do you need to be able to switch simulator during a session? I'm still discovering the tools, and thought that asking the other simulator when one does not give a clear-enough-for-me diag was a good way of getting some help without bothering an expert right away. I have to admit that I use easy_spice myself but since gspiceui seems much more promising I chose to package it. Version 1.0.0 is packaged and can be found at mentors.debian.net. I will try to find a sponsor and see if solves the problem. Ah, that seems to advocate *me* being the sponsor, right ? :) Well, I just meant you could use it but I never say no to a sponsor :) The package can be found at: http://mentors.debian.net/debian/pool/main/g/gspiceui/gspiceui_1.0.00+dfsg-1.dsc There is no README.source file but the get-orig-source target in the rules file creates the +dfsg files correctly. I always use for it CXXFLAGS, which are taken into an account in firebird makefiles. http://stackoverflow.com/questions/495598/difference-between-cppflags-and-cxxflags-in-gnu-make CPP can pre-process all kinds of sources, C, C++, Fortran... and we want all of them to have that _FORTIFY_SOURCE=2 define. I think this is the reason to put it in CPPFLAGS -- to have it when pre-processing all source files. As I understand it, CPPFLAGS is now taken into account when compiling plain C sources by pure luck -- the build system relies on the implicit rule for .c - .o compilation in 'make'. And since explicit rules are used for .cpp - .o compilation, CPPFLAGS integration is gone. From https://www.gnu.org/savannah-checkouts/gnu/make/manual/html_node/Catalogue-of-Rules.html#Catalogue-of-Rules Compiling C programs n.o is made automatically from n.c with a recipe of the form ‘$(CC) $(CPPFLAGS) $(CFLAGS) -c’. Compiling C++ programs n.o is made automatically from n.cc, n.cpp, or n.C with a recipe of the form ‘$(CXX) $(CPPFLAGS) $(CXXFLAGS) -c’. We encourage you to use the suffix ‘.cc’ for C++ source files instead of ‘.C’. Compiling Pascal programs n.o is made automatically from n.p with the recipe ‘$(PC) $(PFLAGS) -c’. Compiling Fortran and Ratfor programs n.o is made automatically from n.r, n.F or n.f by running the Fortran compiler. The precise recipe used is as follows: ‘.f’ ‘$(FC) $(FFLAGS) -c’. ‘.F’ ‘$(FC) $(FFLAGS) $(CPPFLAGS) -c’. ‘.r’ ‘$(FC) $(FFLAGS) $(RFLAGS) -c’. So using CPPFLAGS for C++ sources is the default, not some exotic :) Hopefully this makes the patch integrating CPPFLAGS acceptable. signature.asc Description: Digital signature

Thank You for Your time and answer, Cristian: I have set in prefernces of the program 2 dir.s for downloading - permanent and temporal storages. But it dowloads to user home dir., to Downloads dir. first, then, filling up the partition, it starts/continues to the configured ones. Hi Sthu, I got in contact with upstream author but he seems to be unable to reproduce the bug. Could you please try to add more info or describe better how to reproduce? Hmm. Let him try to run it using gksu - this is the way I run it. May it will help. For now I set root write access for the user home dir. - this made it sure that the Downloads dir. will not be created, and qbittorrent works - regarding the matter - as it should. Probably, that's all I can add. If You will have any ideas - please let me know, I will try to provide additional info. Hi Sthu, I guess the problem is qbittorrent shouln't run as root at all. Bug#655449: subversion: svnadmin load should convert Node-action: add to Node-action: change where needed
Package: subversion Severity: wishlist I am doing a conversion from svn to git. The repository I am converting unfortunately started out with all the code in the top level and later moved to trunk/tags/branches. To work around this I did some sed magick on the dumpfile. Unfortunately svnadmin bombs out with the error below at the point in the history when the files moved into trunk. It would be much better if there were an option to ignore this issue and automatically treat the transaction as if it used Node-action: change instead of Node-action: add like it is now. sed magick: /^Node-path: /{/^Node-path: \(trunk\|tags\|branches\)/!s_^Node-path: _Node-path: trunk/_} Error message: Started new transaction, based on original revision 48 svnadmin: File already exists: filesystem '/home/pabs/devel/games/megaglest/tmp/svn-filtered/db', transaction '47-1b', path 'trunk/docs/AUTHORS' * adding path : trunk/docs/AUTHORS ... What would be nice is to have a comment of yours about the debconf note (the second debconf template and Justin's suggestion to add a paragraph in the first one that would mention that the PAM module is disabledand therefore making the second template useless). I would like to get rid of the note too. Personally, I sort of expect things I apt-get install to be enabled by default, but that was not possible with this PAM module because you could accidentally lock yourself out of your system if you installed it and did not finish the configuration (I got bug reports about that when this was a PPA). I guess that is why I thought a debconf note was warranted, but since you said that kind of notice usually goes into README.Debian, I am all for removing the debconf note. Regarding Justins note : By the way, I've just noticed (too late for this patch) that Homepage: http://code.google.com/p/yubico-pam/ should now point towards https://github.com/Yubico/yubico-pam. I'd say the project website is at code.google.com, although the source and wiki is currently at github.com. Unless the Homepage: is supposed to point at where you get the source, I would think it is more appropriate to keep Homepage: code.google.com. Bug#551078: libpq5: Possibility to specify the Kerberos keytab file
Denis Feklushkin denis.feklush...@gmail.com writes: В Срд, 11/01/2012 в 13:44 +0700, Ivan Shmakov пишет: Denis Feklushkin denis.feklush...@gmail.com writes: […] Libpq often used for connect to the database without human assist. In this case there is no opportunity to enter a password and get a ticket for authentication in Kerberos. Please add the ability to specify in a function PQconnectdb(conninfo) path to the Kerberos 5 keytab file. Shouldn't libpq just assume whatever identity confirmed by the prior kinit(1) invocation when using Kerberos for authentication? In general, ability to use a different keytab files would add some flexibility - libpq will be able to connect to the different servers in different realms at same time. (I wanted it in 2009, as far as I can remember) Please note that it's possible to store keys for multiple Kerberos identities in a single keytab file. Also, it's possible to make Kerberos KDC's for different realms trust each other. Then, the client having an identity within, say, the EXAMPLE.ORG realm could authenticate to the server within, say, EXAMPLE.COM. Note, however, that this doesn't automatically give any EXAMPLE.ORG users the /authorization/ to use EXAMPLE.COM services. But if this behavior violates ideology of the Kerberos then this option is not necessary. I doubt for the ideology, but such an option is likely to introduce extra burden for every client for which such an option is desired. In particular, it's likely that for the clients with GUI it'd be necessary to introduce an extra “File open” dialog so that keytab file (or files) could then be specified by the user. And, kinit(1) (as of heimdal-clients, 1.4.0~git20100726.dfsg.1-1+b1) will accept a keytab file, like: $ kinit --keytab=$HOME/.my.keytab --use-keytab \ my/ident...@realm.example.org (Though I haven't actually tested the above.) Confirmed, Heimdal's kinit with -t option works fine. … Is libpq then able to use these credentials? -- FSF associate member #7257 -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. Bug#655450: [libtool] libltdl linking with -m32 is broken
Package: libtool Version: 2.4.2-1 Severity: normal --- Please enter the report below this line. --- libtool transforms -lltdl to /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libltdl.so even if -m32 is present and then the build fails. Of course. Also, it's possible to make Kerberos KDC's for different realms trust each other. Then, the client having an identity within, say, the EXAMPLE.ORG realm could authenticate to the server within, say, EXAMPLE.COM. Suppose I am the developer of databases on different servers in different realms. How do I connect to them at the same time? On the other hand, the same question holds for any other servers (ftpd etc), I guess. And it means that the problem is not in the libpq - Kerberos is not allow this, it cannot get multiple tickets for different realms. (By the way, it's strange that Kerberos did not care about it) That's how I see answer for my question in 2012. Yes. In particular, it's likely that for the clients with GUI it'd be necessary to introduce an extra “File open” dialog so that keytab file (or files) could then be specified by the user. Yes! This problem is not in libpq, I think we can close this issue. Bug#655456: Corrupt filename created when saving from XSane scan viewer
Package: xsane Version: 0.997-2ubuntu3 I have reported the following bug to the XSane bug tracker at https://alioth.debian.org/tracker/index.php?func=detailaid=313503 but it was suggested that I also report it here as the upstream project has not made a release in over a year. When scanning to the viewing window then saving a file, changes to the file type cause the filename to fill with spurious characters, the system to report an 'Invalid file name' then 'A fatal error occured while running the scanning application'. Environment: XSane 0.997 on Ubuntu 10.10. Issue can be duplicated as follows: * Start XSane. * In main control window select Type as 'JPEG'. * In main control window select Target as 'Viewer'. * Carry out scan, setting other options if necessary. * The Viewer window should open. * Select File-Save image. * In the Type drop-down chooser, select 'PDF'. Observe that the Name textbox changes appropriately. * In the Type drop-down chooser select 'by ext'. Observer that the non-printable text is entered into the Name textbox. Of course, as a workaround it is possible to manually remove the non-printable text and enter a new filename in the Name textbox. The problem was traced to xsane 0.997 source code, file: xsane-back-gtk.c, function: xsane_back_gtk_filetype2_callback. Code in this function will determine the new name for a file when a file extension is chosen from the Type drop-drown chooser. When 'by ext' is chosen no code is executed to populate the string pointed to by the filename, leaving uninitialised memory at this location. The uninitialised memory is later copied back to the UI. The attached patch against XSane 0.998 (http://www.xsane.org/download/xsane-0.998.tar.gz) resolves this issue. Bug#652942: dhcp hook runs reload on shutdown
Hi Michael and Christian, while this problem is mildly annoying when using the traditional sysv init system it is a major PITA when using systemd. Systemd turns invoke-rc.d samba reload into systemctl reload samba.service which of course cannot work this far into the shutdown sequence. But it hangs _several minutes_ at that point until apparently a timeout kicks in and the shutdown proceeds. Sometimes it hangs indefinitely and I have to resort to sysreq-O or the hardware power button. Bug#548024: packages.debian.org: mirror doesn't close old databases
-=| Peter Palfrader, 23.09.2009 11:42:15 +0200 |=- We mirror packages.debian.org on rore. After a sync there are still a few apache processes that have the old db files open, so after a couple of days rore runs out of disk space. Restarting apache every few days isn't really that great an option, so it'd be nice if this could be fixed somehow. Looking at the code, the DB files are open using the following logic (lib/Packages/DB.pm, init()): (assuming persistent mod_perl environment) * at the start of each CGI process, open the DB files and store aside their timestamp * when a request comes to an old CGI process and the DB files are modified (using the stored timestamp), close the DB files and reopen them. store the timestamp aside To me it seems that with the above schema as long as all apache children get a request from time to time (and the db files are changed), file handles should be closed sooner than days. Old file handles could be kept open only if the apache child that holds them doesn't receive any requests. One way to avoid this could be to use alarm() and untie the databases in $SIG{ALRM}. Not really nice, admittedly, not to mention that ALRM may already be used for something else or interfere with apache. Another way could be to close DB handles after each request. I am not sure how much is gained by caching them forever. signature.asc Description: Digital signature
Bug#609099: ACR38U driver problem with Italian CNS cards by Actalis
Hi, I can confirm the bug reported by Matteo; it still shows up even in the most recent package version 1.7.11-1. The issue, that affects some Italian CNS cards produced by Actalis, has been tracked down by Emanuele Pucciarelli to a problem in the ACR38U driver more than a year ago. Details and patch are available on the OpenSC BTS: http://www.opensc-project.org/opensc/ticket/177 I can confirm that Emanuele's patch fixes the issue. Could you please apply it in the Debian package even if the upstream developer doesn't collaborate? Thanks! I'm ready to provide further details if needed. Note: also the Italian distributor for ACR38U-based readers Bit4id (http://www.bit4id.com) are providing an updated version of the acr38u driver since the beginning of 2011, which solves the issue. Maybe they can be contacted for colaboration (they are very active on the acr38u readers, since they provide almost all readers for the Italian e-governement projects). -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. If you want something more desktop agnostic, try lightdm. -- System Information: Debian Release: wheezy/sid APT prefers unstable APT policy: (500, 'unstable'), (500, 'testing'), (1, 'experimental') Architecture: i386 (i686) Kernel: Linux 3.1.0-1-686-pae (SMP w/1 CPU core) Locale: LANG=en_GB.utf8, LC_CTYPE=en_GB.utf8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/dash Versions of packages gdm3 depends on: ii accountsservice 0.6.15-2 ii adduser 3.113 ii dconf-gsettings-backend 0.10.0-3 ii debconf [debconf-2.0] 1.5.41 ii gconf23.2.3-1 ii gnome-session-bin 3.2.1-1 ii gsettings-desktop-schemas 3.2.0-2 ii libaccountsservice0 0.6.15-2 ii libatk1.0-0 2.2.0-2 ii libattr1 1:2.4.46-5 ii libaudit0 1.7.18-1 ii libc6 2.13-24 ii libcairo-gobject2 1.10.2-6.2 ii libcairo2 1.10.2-6.2 ii libcanberra-gtk3-00.28-3 ii libcanberra0 0.28-3 ii libdbus-1-3 1.4.16-1 ii libdbus-glib-1-2 0.98-1 ii libfontconfig12.8.0-3 ii libfreetype6 2.4.8-1 ii libgconf2-4 3.2.3-1 ii libgdk-pixbuf2.0-02.24.0-2 ii libglib2.0-0 2.30.2-4 ii libglib2.0-bin2.30.2-4 ii libgtk-3-03.2.3-1 ii libpam-modules1.1.3-6 ii libpam-runtime1.1.3-6 ii libpam0g 1.1.3-6 ii libpango1.0-0 1.29.4-2 ii librsvg2-common 2.34.2-2 ii libselinux1 2.1.0-4 ii libupower-glib1 0.9.15-1 ii libwrap0 7.6.q-22 ii libx11-6 2:1.4.4-4 ii libxau6 1:1.0.6-4 ii libxdmcp6 1:1.1.0-4 ii libxklavier16 5.1-2 ii libxrandr22:1.3.2-2 ii lsb-base 3.2-28 ii metacity [x-window-manager] 1:2.34.1-2 ii policykit-1-gnome 0.105-1 ii upower0.9.15-1 ii xfce4-session [x-session-manager] 4.8.2-3 ii xfce4-terminal [x-terminal-emulator] 0.4.8-1+b1 ii xfwm4 [x-window-manager] 4.8.3-1 ii xterm [x-terminal-emulator] 276-2 Versions of packages gdm3 recommends: ii at-spi none ii desktop-base none ii gnome-icon-theme 3.2.1.2-1 ii gnome-power-managernone ii gnome-settings-daemon 3.2.2-2 ii x11-xkb-utils 7.6+4 ii xserver-xephyr 2:1.11.3.901-1 ii xserver-xorg 1:7.6+10 ii zenity 3.2.0-1 Versions of packages gdm3 suggests: ii gnome-mag none ii gnome-orcanone ii gok none ii libpam-gnome-keyring 3.2.2-1 ii metacity 1:2.34.1-2 -- Configuration Files: /etc/gdm3/greeter.gconf-defaults changed: /desktop/gnome/interface/gtk_theme Adwaita /desktop/gnome/interface/icon_theme Mint-X /desktop/gnome/background/picture_filename /usr/share/xfce4/backdrops/xfce-stripes.png /desktop/gnome/background/primary_color #152233 /desktop/gnome/peripherals/mouse/cursor_theme DMZ-White /apps/gdm/simple-greeter/logo_icon_name computer /apps/metacity/general/compositing_manager false /apps/gnome-power-manager/ui/icon_policynever /etc/gdm3/greeter.gsettings changed: [org.gnome.desktop.interface] cursor-theme='DMZ-White' gtk-theme='Adwaita' icon-theme='Mint-X' [org.gnome.desktop.background] picture-uri='file:///usr/share/xfce4/backdrops/xfce-stripes.png' primary-color='#152233' [org.gnome.power-manager] icon-policy='never' -- debconf information: * shared/default-x-display-manager: gdm3 gdm3/daemon_name: /usr/sbin/gdm3 -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. reopen 653993 thanks | Another abuse of the BTS. No rationale whatsoever Rationale was in the reopen control message. See: http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?msg=21;bug=653993 a) the behavior of the script is unexpected b) there are no warnings (or error checks) c) program dies on cryptic error Reopening: This bug is not dealt with. There is a cryptic error, as seen from the debug output: http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=653993#5 If you feel these points don't warrant a bug status, we could ask council from Debian Technical Committee. Bug#654793: firebird2.5: Hardeneng flags not fully enabled

If none of them are present the error no protectable libc functions used is shown. However, there are also results that show no (e.g. /usr/bin/fbsvcmgr). As such, there might indeed be a problem with the LDFLAGS being overwritten. Most of the binaries suffer from this, and in the end the reason appears to be missing usage of CPPFLAGS when compiling C++ sources. That's correct. I've meant CPPFLAGS. CPreProcessorFLAGS when compiling C++ resources? Not completely - but now I can see what do you want. I will fix the build. -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. Trouble? Contact listmas...@lists.debian.org
