 Not sure.  Mathieu?

All the ITK 3.x branch is affected by this:

#include gdcmSerieHelper.h

Looking at the ITK v4 this code is still there. So I would think that

Oh, I'm sorry.

 I don't follow.  Isn't COMPAT_DIR _supposed_ to point to

If I specify /etc/bash_completion.d in this variable noone from
/usr/share/bash-completion/completions/ will work. I tested on ssh,
ip, apt-get, aptitude and others (nothing happens on TAB [[only dirs

changing it to /usr/share/bash-completion/completions/ it works well.
But there are some comletions left in old dir. They do not work in
this case.

$ ls /etc/bash_completion.d/

apt-file  devscripts.chdist  dput   grub

PS. And yes, I've restarted shell every time after I changed

Bug#655441: ITP: mma -- Musical MIDI Accompaniment

Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist
Owner: Joel Roth jo...@pobox.com

* Package name: mma
  Version : 12.01
  Upstream Author : Bob van der Poel b...@mellowood.ca
* URL : http://www.mellowood.ca/mma
* License : GPL
  Programming Lang: Python
  Description : MMA - Musical MIDI Accompaniment

Musical MIDI Accompaniment, MMA, generates standard
MIDI files which can be used as a backup track for a
soloist.

It was written especially for me--I am an aspiring
saxophonist and wanted a program to play the piano and
drums so I could practice my jazz solos. With MMA I can
create a track based on the chords in a song, transpose it
to the correct key for my instrument, and play my very bad
improvisations until they get a bit better.

I also lead a small combo group which is always missing at
least one player. With MMA generated tracks the group can
practice and perform even if a rhythm player is missing.
This all works much better than I expected when I started to
write the program... so much better that I have used MMA
generated tracks for live performances with great success.

Around the world musicians are using MMA for practice,
performance and in their studios. Much more than ever
imagined when this project was started!

Bug#655280: gspiceui: segfaults when switching from gnucap to ngspice after a simulation

2012-01-11 Thread Gudjon I. Gudjonsson
Hi Yann

  Does it work for ngspice if you start it as an ngspice simulator?

 In the case of the simulation currently loaded there are errors, which
 I have myself trouble to parse, and for which gspiceui displays an
 error popup without a message - I suspect the problem to come from a
 node named +5V by geda.
Can you please send me the troubling schematic, or some simplified one.

  And if so, do you need to be able to switch simulator during a session?

 I'm still discovering the tools, and thought that asking the other
 simulator when one does not give a clear-enough-for-me diag was a good
 way of getting some help without bothering an expert right away.
I have to admit that I use easy_spice myself but since gspiceui seems much
more promising I chose to package it.

  Version 1.0.0 is packaged and can be found at mentors.debian.net. I will
  try to find a sponsor and see if solves the problem.

 Ah, that seems to advocate *me* being the sponsor, right ? :)
Well, I just meant you could use it but I never say no to a sponsor :)

The package can be found at:
http://mentors.debian.net/debian/pool/main/g/gspiceui/gspiceui_1.0.00+dfsg-1.dsc

There is no README.source file but the get-orig-source target in the rules
file creates the +dfsg files correctly.

 http://stackoverflow.com/questions/495598/difference-between-cppflags-and-cxxflags-in-gnu-make

CPP can pre-process all kinds of sources, C, C++, Fortran... and we
want all of them to have that _FORTIFY_SOURCE=2 define. I think this
is the reason to put it in CPPFLAGS -- to have it when pre-processing
all source files.

As I understand it, CPPFLAGS is now taken into account when compiling
plain C sources by pure luck -- the build system relies on the
implicit rule for .c - .o compilation in 'make'. And since explicit
rules are used for .cpp - .o compilation, CPPFLAGS integration is
gone.

From
https://www.gnu.org/savannah-checkouts/gnu/make/manual/html_node/Catalogue-of-Rules.html#Catalogue-of-Rules

Compiling C programs
n.o is made automatically from n.c with a recipe of the form
‘$(CC) $(CPPFLAGS) $(CFLAGS) -c’.
Compiling C++ programs
n.o is made automatically from n.cc, n.cpp, or n.C with a recipe
of the form ‘$(CXX) $(CPPFLAGS) $(CXXFLAGS) -c’. We encourage you
to use the suffix ‘.cc’ for C++ source files instead of ‘.C’.
Compiling Pascal programs
n.o is made automatically from n.p with the recipe ‘$(PC)
$(PFLAGS) -c’.
Compiling Fortran and Ratfor programs
n.o is made automatically from n.r, n.F or n.f by running the
Fortran compiler. The precise recipe used is as follows:

‘.f’
‘$(FC) $(FFLAGS) -c’.
‘.F’
‘$(FC) $(FFLAGS) $(CPPFLAGS) -c’.
‘.r’
‘$(FC) $(FFLAGS) $(RFLAGS) -c’.

So using CPPFLAGS for C++ sources is the default, not some exotic :)

Hopefully this makes the patch integrating CPPFLAGS acceptable.

  has dropped the data about etch and lenny recently:
  http://lists.debian.org/debian-qa/2011/10/msg00021.html

 This actually caused a problem: I released a DSA without an update for
 lenny,
 because from rmadison output I was lead to believe that this package
 wasn't
 included in lenny at all. rmadison gets rather useless if I can't trust
 it to
 list all supported suites a package is in.

 It seems a bit premature to me to drop the lenny data from UDD while the
 release still and only has one more month of its lifetime to go.

 How reversible is this?
 If not, perhaps rmadison should use `dak ls` as backend? I'm not
 convinced
 that this bug needs to be marked as wontfix at this stage, as rmadison
 now
 makes a promise (that it supplies the output of dak ls) that it can't
 keep.

 I've re-added oldstable, and disabled Ubuntu imports instead (Ubuntu
 Sources+Packages is only imported once a day via cron, instead of at
 each mirror push -- samosa is not able to keep up with them anyway)

Doesn't make sense to do such extremely specific platform checks inside code.

You have the -q option -- which, once again, I apologise for not
having documented but I now have (and I appreciate you causing it to
come to my notice that it was not documented).

If you're in an environment where you can't popup an editor, use the

   has dropped the data about etch and lenny recently:
   http://lists.debian.org/debian-qa/2011/10/msg00021.html

 Thanks, it would be useful, but it doesn't work for me yet:

 $ rmadison coreutils
  coreutils | 8.5-1 | squeeze | source, amd64, armel, i386, ia64,
 kfreebsd-amd64, kfreebsd-i386, mips, mipsel, powerpc, s390, sparc
  coreutils | 8.13-3| wheezy  | source, amd64, armel, i386, ia64,
 kfreebsd-amd64, kfreebsd-i386, mips, mipsel, powerpc, s390, sparc
  coreutils | 8.13-3| sid | source, amd64, armel, hurd-i386, i386,
 ia64, kfreebsd-amd64, kfreebsd-i386, mips, mipsel, powerpc, s390, sparc
  coreutils | 8.13-3+b1 | wheezy  | armhf, s390x
  coreutils | 8.13-3+b1 | sid | armhf, s390x

UDD only imports stable and oldstable once every 10 mirror pushes,
because the machine cannot keep up otherwise.

I've manually triggered an import, so it should be OK in a couple hours
in the worst case.

Bug#551078: libpq5: Possibility to specify the Kerberos keytab file

   Please add the ability to specify in a function PQconnectdb(conninfo)
   path to the Kerberos 5 keytab file.

   Shouldn't libpq just assume whatever identity confirmed by the
   prior kinit(1) invocation when using Kerberos for
   authentication?

In general, ability to use a different keytab files would add some
flexibility - libpq will be able to connect to the different servers in
different realms at same time. (I wanted it in 2009, as far as I can
remember)

But if this behavior violates ideology of the Kerberos then this option
is not necessary.

   And, kinit(1) (as of heimdal-clients,
   1.4.0~git20100726.dfsg.1-1+b1) will accept a keytab file, like:

 $ kinit --keytab=$HOME/.my.keytab --use-keytab \
   my/ident...@realm.example.org

   (Though I haven't actually tested the above.)

Confirmed, Heimdal's kinit with -t option works fine.

There is no such package in the Debian archive. When filing bugs, please
try to make sure that you file the report against a package that
actually exists.

That also has the advantage of letting reportbug include the package

I'm reassigning it to the appropriate place now, but try to be more
careful in the future - not only because it makes my job easier, it also
means that your report will get to the appropriate maintainers faster!

Are you afraid that the platform checks will increase? Fear not. I
don't know much other cases where people would run gl-setup. There are
only two places for daily command line:

 The terminal and Shell
 The Emacs, inside shell buffer

As you know, Emacs is as big as Vi in user base. Your decision will
affect a lot of users.

The current code makes assumptions about environment that are not
necessarily true.

a) The proposed solution is not complex
b) Not hard to maintain
c) The change is easy to understood
d) There solution is not partial (handles the case as expected)

Wouldn't you want to improve the code for everyone's benefit? This all
quite sensible.

Bug#651377: qbittorrent: Downloads to home Downloads dir. instead to the specified ones.

2012-01-11 Thread Sthu Deus
Thank You for Your time and answer, Cristian:

 I have set in prefernces of the program 2 dir.s for downloading -
 permanent and temporal storages. But it dowloads to user home dir.,
 to Downloads dir. first, then, filling up the partition, it
 starts/continues to the configured ones.

Hi Sthu,

I got in contact with upstream author but he seems to be unable to
reproduce the bug. Could you please try to add more info or describe
better how to reproduce?

Hmm. Let him try to run it using gksu - this is the way I run it. May
it will help.

For now I set root write access for the user home dir. - this made it
sure that the Downloads dir. will not be created, and qbittorrent works
- regarding the matter - as it should.

Probably, that's all I can add. If You will have any ideas - please let
me know, I will try to provide additional info.

Bug#655445: debsign --re-sign incorrectly parses some changes files

2012-01-11 Thread Thijs Kinkhorst
Package: devscripts
Version: 2.11.3
Severity: normal

Hi,

When re-signing certain changes files, debsign --re-sign incorrectly parses
them and a
piece of the old signature remains. This makes DAK give a parse error on them
and throw
them away without email. The bottom of the changes file looks like this:

- -BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE-
Version: GnuPG v1.4.10 (GNU/Linux)

-BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE-
Version: GnuPG v1.4.10 (GNU/Linux)

iQEcBAEBAgAGBQJPDVDnAAoJEOxfUAG2iX57TlIH/RerOWGb1FpIdCj8muptM1GH
gzv[...]

I have at least one changes file on which this happens, produced by the ia64
buildd.
Debsign was invoked as:

$ debsign -kE1C21845 --re-sign kolab-cyrus-imapd_2.2.13-5+lenny3_ia64.changes

It is reproducible in stable and unstable.

I'm not 100% sure that attaching signed changes files to a public bug report is
harmless, so to err on the side of caution I'm not doing that. I can send the
changes file and the result to people who want to debug this.

Ah, my bad. Chaning someting of this doesn't do anything, because the
second variable says is_ff2_ (mark the undersocre).

It was something other which does the trick, something so trivial I just
forgot:

just change

-code--
// special stylesheet links
if (typeof stylepath != 'undefined'  typeof skin != 'undefined') {
if (is_opera_preseven) {
importStylesheetURI(stylepath+'/'+skin+'/Opera6Fixes.css');
} else if (is_opera_seven  !is_opera_95) {
importStylesheetURI(stylepath+'/'+skin+'/Opera7Fixes.css');
} else if (is_opera_95) {
importStylesheetURI(stylepath+'/'+skin+'/Opera9Fixes.css');
} else if (is_khtml) {

} else if (is_ff2) {
importStylesheetURI(stylepath+'/'+skin+'/FF2Fixes.css');
}
}
-/code-

to

if (typeof stylepath != 'undefined'  typeof skin != 'undefined') {
if (is_opera_preseven) {
importStylesheetURI(stylepath+'/'+skin+'/Opera6Fixes.css');

importStylesheetURI(stylepath+'/'+skin+'/FF2Fixes.css');
} else if (is_khtml) {
importStylesheetURI(stylepath+'/'+skin+'/KHTMLFixes.css');
}
}
/code-

Both KHTML and Firefox apparently get identified; hence KHTML first is
checked in the if - else if - else - loop it goes first. After the
change, Firefox get's priority.

To be honest: which notably widespread Browsers are using KHTML
nowadays? So for me this hack works (and now for real :))

I got it to work by commenting out both lines - probably breaks
something else at the same time...

I don't have time - but the output of a diff of the stable vs testing

I think the severity level should be important as it causes a major
effect on the usability of a package .

Hi Peter,

Thanks again for this. Now the fix has been applied in Debian and in
upstream v3.2, and the bug is indeed closed, but I would like to see
this fixed in the upstream stable/longterm kernels. (Especially the
3.0.y longterm tree, since that will help share the maintenance burden
from 3.2.y when tracking down cciss bugs.)

Could you test the following patch[*] against Linux 3.0.16 from
kernel.org? Instructions for doing so are at [1].

If it works, I'll propose the patch to Greg for the 3.0.y longterm and
3.1.y stable branches, so others using the kernel can benefit from the
fix, too.

Sincerely,

Subject: cciss: Add IRQF_SHARED back in for the non-MSI(X) interrupt handler

commit 6225da481597ebff09454c785fe0afc7f5fdbb77 upstream.

IRQF_SHARED is required for older controllers that don't support MSI(X)
and which may end up sharing an interrupt.

[jn: The upstream commit also removes the deprecated IRQF_DISABLED
 flag in the MSI(X) case, which is a noop so for stable we skip it.]

solve at the moment and I had no time to follow up on it.
Please feel free to finish the work.

The current sysvinit git

creates initctl in /run rather than /dev. I'm not sure why
you get the permission denied error in /dev, but it may be the
case that this will fix things. If not, I'm sure we can
implement your patch (or an equivalent using ischroot) for /run.

It would be good to know if the above package solves the problem

Hi Sthu,

I guess the problem is qbittorrent shouln't run as root at all. Why do
you need it?

I am doing a conversion from svn to git. The repository I am converting

 What would be nice is to have a comment of yours about the debconf

 paragraph in the first one that would mention that the PAM module is
 disabledand therefore making the second template useless).

I would like to get rid of the note too.

Personally, I sort of expect things I apt-get install to be enabled
by default, but that was not possible with this PAM module because you
could accidentally lock yourself out of your system if you installed
it and did not finish the configuration (I got bug reports about that
when this was a PPA).

I guess that is why I thought a debconf note was warranted, but since
you said that kind of notice usually goes into README.Debian, I am all
for removing the debconf note.

Regarding Justins note :

 By the way, I've just noticed (too late for this patch) that
  Homepage: http://code.google.com/p/yubico-pam/
 should now point towards https://github.com/Yubico/yubico-pam.

I'd say the project website is at code.google.com, although the source
and wiki is currently at github.com. Unless the Homepage: is supposed
to point at where you get the source, I would think it is more
appropriate to keep Homepage: code.google.com.

Thank you both for the excellent review!

Bug#551078: libpq5: Possibility to specify the Kerberos keytab file

 В Срд, 11/01/2012 в 13:44 +0700, Ivan Shmakov пишет:
 Denis Feklushkin denis.feklush...@gmail.com writes:

  Libpq often used for connect to the database without human assist.
  In this case there is no opportunity to enter a password and get a
  ticket for authentication in Kerberos.

  Please add the ability to specify in a function
  PQconnectdb(conninfo) path to the Kerberos 5 keytab file.

  Shouldn't libpq just assume whatever identity confirmed by the prior
  kinit(1) invocation when using Kerberos for authentication?

  In general, ability to use a different keytab files would add some
  flexibility - libpq will be able to connect to the different servers
  in different realms at same time. (I wanted it in 2009, as far as I
  can remember)

Please note that it's possible to store keys for multiple
Kerberos identities in a single keytab file.

Also, it's possible to make Kerberos KDC's for different realms
trust each other. Then, the client having an identity within,
say, the EXAMPLE.ORG realm could authenticate to the server
within, say, EXAMPLE.COM.

Note, however, that this doesn't automatically give any
EXAMPLE.ORG users the /authorization/ to use EXAMPLE.COM
services.

  But if this behavior violates ideology of the Kerberos then this
  option is not necessary.

I doubt for the ideology, but such an option is likely to
introduce extra burden for every client for which such an option
is desired.

In particular, it's likely that for the clients with GUI it'd be
necessary to introduce an extra “File open” dialog so that
keytab file (or files) could then be specified by the user.

  And, kinit(1) (as of heimdal-clients, 1.4.0~git20100726.dfsg.1-1+b1)
  will accept a keytab file, like:

  $ kinit --keytab=$HOME/.my.keytab --use-keytab \
my/ident...@realm.example.org

  (Though I haven't actually tested the above.)

  Confirmed, Heimdal's kinit with -t option works fine.

… Is libpq then able to use these credentials?

Bug#598845: closed by wer...@aloah-from-hell.de (technically a sender restriction)

2012-01-11 Thread werner
Hi,

 Thank you!!!

I've got a response from the upstream author.

He says that it's best practice to define restrictions in
smtpd_recipient_restrictions (which I
also think). It would be a bad idea to change that, policyd-weight furthermore
also checks for
recipients (e.g. postmaster handline, etc).

Cheers,
Werner

Bug#655450: [libtool] libltdl linking with -m32 is broken

2012-01-11 Thread Török Edwin

Package: libtool
Version: 2.4.2-1
Severity: normal

--- Please enter the report below this line. ---

libtool transforms -lltdl to /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libltdl.so even if -m32
is present and then the build fails.
If it would just left -lltdl alone then gcc would've probably found the proper
lib on its own.
Why does it does libtool try to expand -lltdl

This breaks ClamAV build with -m32 when using system libltdl (i.e. when
libltdl-dev and ia32-libs are installed).
Everything works when using the embedded libltdl (i.e. libltdl-dev is not
installed).

I configure ClamAV as:
./configure CFLAGS=-m32 -O2 CXXFLAGS=-m32 -O2

Here is the link command:
/bin/bash ../libtool  --tag=CC   --mode=link gcc
-DSEARCH_LIBDIR=\/usr/local/lib32\ -O2 -m32 -thread-safe -version-info 7:11:1
-no-undefined -Wl,--version
-script,../../../clamav-devel/libclamav/libclamav.map  -o libclamav.la -rpath /usr/local/lib32 libclamav_la-matcher-ac.lo ... -lltdl -dlopen libclamunrar_iface.la libclamav_nocxx.la
libclamav_internal_utils.la -lz -lbz2 -lpthread -lm -ldl
libtool: link: gcc -shared -fPIC -DPIC .libs/libclamav_la-matcher-ac.o .libs/libclamav_la-matcher-bm.o -Wl,--no-whole-archive /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libltdl.so -lz -lbz2 -lpthread -lm -ldl
 -O2 -m32 -Wl,--version-script -Wl,../../../clamav-devel/libclamav/libclamav.map   -Wl,-soname -Wl,libclamav.so.6 -o .libs/libclamav.so.6.1.11

/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libltdl.so: could not read symbols: File in wrong
format

In Makefile.am there is this:
libclamav_la_LIBADD = @LIBLTDL@ ..
libclamav_la_DEPENDENCIES =  @LTDLDEPS@ ...

And configure.in has this:
LT_CONFIG_LTDL_DIR([libltdl])
LT_INIT([dlopen disable-static])
LTDL_INIT([recursive])
AC_CONFIG_FILES([libltdl/Makefile])

$ ./libtool --version
libtool (GNU libtool) 2.4

But same behaviour if I upgrade libtool to 2.4.2:
$ ./libtool --version
libtool (GNU libtool) 2.4.2

Bug#655451: globus-gram-job-manager-fork: circular dependency hell

2012-01-11 Thread Bill Allombert
Package: globus-gram-job-manager-fork
Version: 1.0-1

Hello Mattias,

There is a circular dependency between globus-gram-job-manager-fork and
globus-gram-job-manager-fork-setup-poll, globus-gram-job-manager-pbs and
globus-gram-job-manager-pbs-setup-poll, and globus-gram-job-manager-sge and
globus-gram-job-manager-sge-setup-poll:

globus-gram-job-manager-fork:Depends:
globus-gram-job-manager-fork-setup-poll
globus-gram-job-manager-fork-setup-poll :Depends:
globus-gram-job-manager-fork (= 1.0-1)
globus-gram-job-manager-pbs :Depends: globus-gram-job-manager-pbs-setup-poll
globus-gram-job-manager-pbs-setup-poll  :Depends: globus-gram-job-manager-pbs
(= 1.1-1)
globus-gram-job-manager-sge :Depends: globus-gram-job-manager-sge-setup-poll
globus-gram-job-manager-sge-setup-poll  :Depends: globus-gram-job-manager-sge
(= 1.0-1)

Complex circular dependencies are known to cause problems during upgrade, so we
should try to get rid of them.

Bug#655387: [PATCH] usb: cdc_ether: Ignore bogus union descriptor for RNDIS devices

2012-01-11 Thread Oliver Neukum
Am Mittwoch, 11. Januar 2012, 11:29:57 schrieb Markus Kolb:

 There is all information but the original cdc_ether code can only
 handle union descriptor which starts with 0.
 That is something e.g. the Windows driver can handle.

Possibly cdc-ether is also broken, but the descriptor refers to interfaces
4 and 5 which don't exist.

 There is a patch[1] in Debian that changes gl-setup from sh(1) to bash(1):

 This doesn't appear to be warranted, as gl-setup passes all tests:

 It was warranted when it was added, but having it there isn't a bug, I
fail to see how you consider this to be a bug.

Of course.

   Also, it's possible to make Kerberos KDC's for different realms
   trust each other. Then, the client having an identity within,
   say, the EXAMPLE.ORG realm could authenticate to the server
   within, say, EXAMPLE.COM.

Suppose I am the developer of databases on different servers in
different realms. How do I connect to them at the same time?

On the other hand, the same question holds for any other servers (ftpd
etc), I guess. And it means that the problem is not in the libpq -
Kerberos is not allow this, it cannot get multiple tickets for different
realms. (By the way, it's strange that Kerberos did not care about it)

That's how I see answer for my question in 2012.

   Note, however, that this doesn't automatically give any
   EXAMPLE.ORG users the /authorization/ to use EXAMPLE.COM
   services.

   But if this behavior violates ideology of the Kerberos then this
   option is not necessary.

   I doubt for the ideology, but such an option is likely to
   introduce extra burden for every client for which such an option
   is desired.

Yes.

   In particular, it's likely that for the clients with GUI it'd be
   necessary to introduce an extra “File open” dialog so that
   keytab file (or files) could then be specified by the user.

Yes!

This problem is not in libpq, I think we can close this issue.

   And, kinit(1) (as of heimdal-clients, 1.4.0~git20100726.dfsg.1-1+b1)
   will accept a keytab file, like:

   $ kinit --keytab=$HOME/.my.keytab --use-keytab \
 my/ident...@realm.example.org

   (Though I haven't actually tested the above.)

   Confirmed, Heimdal's kinit with -t option works fine.

   … Is libpq then able to use these credentials?

Yes.

Bjørn's basic approach is good. But he's to subtle in the consequence

I'd like something that is pretty close to:

Bug#655454: debomatic: Please allow configuration of lintian options

2012-01-11 Thread Sylvestre Ledru
Package: debomatic
Severity: wishlist
Tags: upstream

Hello,

For now, the configuration of lintian is hardcoded into:
/usr/share/debomatic/modules/Lintian.py
It would be nice if you could consider offering configuration options
(for example, I am not interested in -i or -I options).

Thanks
Sylvestre

 I am trying to remove the GGZ Gaming Zone from Debian[1] as the packages

 libggzmod-dev and libggz-dev (and has runtime dependencies for the
 linked GGZ libraries). Please build it without support for GGZ.

From what I'm seeing, you are trying to drop GGZ only because it's
unmaintained upstream. But do we have any issue with the code base as
is, or is it just to prevent future issues? Do you have any replacement
implementations? I discussed the issue with my upstream, and they
agree that GGZ should be reimplemented, but they don't know any
replacement code. They also feel that shipping without multi-player
would be a pitty.

So, actually, I need more information before dropping GGZ from my
package.

Bye, Mt.

Maybe it is not a bug, but then it is undocumented, or at least I can't find
the documentation on it.
I'll tell a bit on the background: my headphone was broken, so I bought a new
one: a wireless plantronics.
This thing comes with its own soundcard. There is a USB-stick that works as a
wifistation for the headphone.
It works fine without additional driver in windows xp (same machine in
multiboot).
The soundcontrols on the headset control the volume slider on the gstreamer
applet, but no sound comes through.
The card is detected as secondary card, maybe that can be changed, but I can't
find this in documentation.

Thanks for your efforts,

 Hi,

Hi,

 few days ago I uploaded audiofile 0.3.2 to experimental and, due to the
 ABI change introduced by this new stable release (see bug#562677), I need
 a transition slot.

It seems to me that you have not renamed libaudio0 in your experimental
upload. Please double check this and ensure you do not upload an ABI
bumped library without changing its package name.

 The following packages would be affected by the transition and I've already
 tried to build them, you could have a look at the logs here [1]:

  [...]
  beast  (builds fine)

Happens to be stuck in sid due to oss4, which is RC buggy. Fun

  cheesetracker  (builds fine)

Got RM'ed two days ago, less work I guess. :)

  [...]
  galan  (builds fine)

Also happens to be RC-buggy and not in testing.

  glame (failed, not due to the transition)

Unfortunately this is in testing so either it gets fixed or RM'd from
testing. At least it has no rdeps in testing at the moment.

  [...]
  kwave (failed, not due to the transition)

There are no reported FTBFS bugs against this, so please file a bug and
mark it as a blocker of this bug.

 Thanks in advance for any reply, cheers!

The transition shares a package (hydrogen) with libarchive (which was
blocked by another transition last I checked). Most likely we can
schedule audiofile first if libarchive is not ready soon. I will get
back to you on this.

nor the python*-dev bug, since I'm not really knowledgeable in this area

Bug#655456: Corrupt filename created when saving from XSane scan viewer

2012-01-11 Thread Matthew

Package: xsane
Version: 0.997-2ubuntu3

I have reported the following bug to the XSane bug tracker at
https://alioth.debian.org/tracker/index.php?func=detailaid=313503 but
it was suggested that I also report it here as the upstream project has
not made a release in over a year.

When scanning to the viewing window then saving a file, changes to the
file type cause the filename to fill with spurious characters, the
system to report an 'Invalid file name' then 'A fatal error occured
while running the scanning application'.

Environment: XSane 0.997 on Ubuntu 10.10.

Issue can be duplicated as follows:
* Start XSane.
* In main control window select Type as 'JPEG'.
* In main control window select Target as 'Viewer'.
* Carry out scan, setting other options if necessary.
* The Viewer window should open.
* Select File-Save image.
* In the Type drop-down chooser, select 'PDF'. Observe that the Name
textbox changes appropriately.
* In the Type drop-down chooser select 'by ext'. Observer that the
non-printable text is entered into the Name textbox.

Of course, as a workaround it is possible to manually remove the
non-printable text and enter a new filename in the Name textbox.

The problem was traced to xsane 0.997 source code, file:
xsane-back-gtk.c, function: xsane_back_gtk_filetype2_callback.

Code in this function will determine the new name for a file when a file
extension is chosen from the Type drop-drown chooser. When 'by ext' is
chosen no code is executed to populate the string pointed to by the
filename, leaving uninitialised memory at this location. The
uninitialised memory is later copied back to the UI.

The attached patch against XSane 0.998
(http://www.xsane.org/download/xsane-0.998.tar.gz) resolves this issue.

Bug#650015: [websvn] Workaround

2012-01-11 Thread Claire Boussard

In the file /usr/share/websvn/log.php at line 399,
changing the method from get to post solves the problem.

That is :
$vars['compare_form'] = 'form method=get
action='.$config-getURL($rep, '', 'comp').' id=compare';

becomes

$vars['compare_form'] = 'form method=post
action='.$config-getURL($rep, '', 'comp').' id=compare';

I think, the same should be applied to listing.php, but I
don't use this one.

Bug#652942: dhcp hook runs reload on shutdown

2012-01-11 Thread Roderich Schupp
Hi Michael and Christian,

while this problem is mildly annoying when using the traditional sysv
init system
it is a major PITA when using systemd.
Systemd turns invoke-rc.d samba reload into systemctl reload samba.service
which of course cannot work this far into the shutdown sequence.
But it hangs _several minutes_ at that point until apparently a timeout kicks in
and the shutdown proceeds. Sometimes it hangs indefinitely and I have
to resort to sysreq-O or the hardware power button.

Cheers, Roderich

2012-01-11 Thread Didier Raboud
Hi Chris,

(Explicitely CC'ing the MIA team),

it's been two months since I reported the #647531 bug on the cjet package of
yours, at that time pointing that cjet hadn't received any attention for the
past 8 years now. What do you intend to do?

I would really like to see cjet under the Debian Printing Team umbrella and
updated to align with the printer-driver-* namespace. Please state your
position regarding this proposed action.

(FWIW, I don't insist on adopting this package: what matters is the bug
resolution...)

Cheers,

OdyX

 Right.  Unless you're absolutely sure the ABI will never change, having
 files in the shared library package whose path isn't tied to the
 library's SONAME causes pain down the road.

I've opened 655440 to track this issue, thanks again. I'll upload the pcp-gui

Bug#655460: misleading error message on missing br0 interface

2012-01-11 Thread Harald Dunkel
Package: virtinst
Version: 0.600.0-1

I missed to define a local br0 network interface on my new KVM
server. When I tried to create a new machine using an existing
host.xml file listing br0 as a network interface I got an
error message about an inaccessible disk image instead.

# export VIRSH_DEFAULT_CONNECT_URI=qemu:///system
# masterhost=dpcl082
# master=openSUSE-11.3-i386-template
# name=sepos11i004

--file=/dev/storage/${name}.vda.lv --preserve-data
ERRORCould not determine original disk information: Size must be specified

After setting up the br0 interface the error message about

Ideally would like to be able to get this:

b...@example.org   /tmp/bar_krb5cc_1000   Jan 12 05:36:27   *

And the system could automatically choose the right credentials...

 […]

   Confirmed, Heimdal's kinit with -t option works fine.

   … Is libpq then able to use these credentials?

   Yes.

   ACK, thanks.

Can this be closed? Now we have udev autoloading all the needed

Bug#548024: packages.debian.org: mirror doesn't close old databases

2012-01-11 Thread Damyan Ivanov
-=| Peter Palfrader, 23.09.2009 11:42:15 +0200 |=-
 We mirror packages.debian.org on rore.

 After a sync there are still a few apache processes that have the old
 db files open, so after a couple of days rore runs out of disk space.

 Restarting apache every few days isn't really that great an option,
 so it'd be nice if this could be fixed somehow.

Looking at the code, the DB files are open using the following logic
(lib/Packages/DB.pm, init()):

(assuming persistent mod_perl environment)

 * at the start of each CGI process, open the DB files and store aside
   their timestamp
 * when a request comes to an old CGI process and the DB files are
   modified (using the stored timestamp), close the DB files and
   reopen them. store the timestamp aside

To me it seems that with the above schema as long as all apache
children get a request from time to time (and the db files are
changed), file handles should be closed sooner than days.

Old file handles could be kept open only if the apache child that
holds them doesn't receive any requests.

One way to avoid this could be to use alarm() and untie the databases
in $SIG{ALRM}. Not really nice, admittedly, not to mention that ALRM
may already be used for something else or interfere with apache.

Another way could be to close DB handles after each request. I am not
sure how much is gained by caching them forever.

Bug#609099: ACR38U driver problem with Italian CNS cards by Actalis

2012-01-11 Thread Lorenzo Masellis
Hi,

I can confirm the bug reported by Matteo; it still shows up even in the
most recent package version 1.7.11-1.

The issue, that affects some Italian CNS cards produced by Actalis, has
been tracked down by Emanuele Pucciarelli to a problem in the ACR38U
driver more than a year ago. Details and patch are available on the
OpenSC BTS:

http://www.opensc-project.org/opensc/ticket/177

I can confirm that Emanuele's patch fixes the issue. Could you please
apply it in the Debian package even if the upstream developer doesn't
collaborate? Thanks!

I'm ready to provide further details if needed.

Note: also the Italian distributor for ACR38U-based readers Bit4id
(http://www.bit4id.com) are providing an updated version of the acr38u
driver since the beginning of 2011, which solves the issue. Maybe they
can be contacted for colaboration (they are very active on the acr38u
readers, since they provide almost all readers for the Italian
e-governement projects).

Bug#637045: gdm3: I think none of those are bugs.

2012-01-11 Thread Sergio Cipolla
Package: gdm3
Followup-For: Bug #637045

I'm not a developer but I think neither of those are bugs.
gdm-control is from old gdm (version 2.x)
and the wallpaper changing is because you have gnome-settings-daemon
installed. In this case you either have to change your desktop preferences
with gconf-editor (and don't use anything else for that) or just
uninstall gnome-settings-daemon.
gdm3 is after all a GNOME display manager. If you want something more
desktop agnostic, try lightdm.

Here are the results from Emacs M-x shell:

$ for i in 0 1 2 ; do test -t $i ; echo fd $i status: $? ; done
fd 0 status: 0
fd 1 status: 0
fd 2 status: 0

Bug#653993: {reopen] gitolite: gl-setup thinks admin_name is The file name of SSH key

2012-01-11 Thread Jari Aalto
reopen 653993
thanks

| Another abuse of the BTS. No rationale whatsoever

Rationale was in the reopen control message. See:

http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?msg=21;bug=653993

a) the behavior of the script is unexpected
b) there are no warnings (or error checks)
c) program dies on cryptic error

Reopening:

This bug is not dealt with. There is a cryptic error, as seen from the
debug output:

http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=653993#5

If you feel these points don't warrant a bug status, we could ask council
from Debian Technical Committee.

 might indeed be a problem with the LDFLAGS being overwritten.
 Most of the binaries suffer from this, and in the end the reason
 appears to be missing usage of CPPFLAGS when compiling C++ sources.
 That's correct. I've meant CPPFLAGS.
 CPreProcessorFLAGS when compiling C++ resources? I always use for it
 CXXFLAGS, which are taken into an account in firebird makefiles.

 http://stackoverflow.com/questions/495598/difference-between-cppflags-and-cxxflags-in-gnu-make
 CPP can pre-process all kinds of sources, C, C++, Fortran... and we
 want all of them to have that _FORTIFY_SOURCE=2 define. I think this
 is the reason to put it in CPPFLAGS -- to have it when pre-processing
 all source files.

 As I understand it, CPPFLAGS is now taken into account when compiling
 plain C sources by pure luck -- the build system relies on the
 implicit rule for .c - .o compilation in 'make'. And since explicit
 rules are used for .cpp - .o compilation, CPPFLAGS integration is
 gone.

 From
 https://www.gnu.org/savannah-checkouts/gnu/make/manual/html_node/Catalogue-of-Rules.html#Catalogue-of-Rules

 Compiling C programs
 n.o is made automatically from n.c with a recipe of the form
 ‘$(CC) $(CPPFLAGS) $(CFLAGS) -c’.
 Compiling C++ programs
 n.o is made automatically from n.cc, n.cpp, or n.C with a recipe
 of the form ‘$(CXX) $(CPPFLAGS) $(CXXFLAGS) -c’.

Not completely - but now I can see what do you want. I will fix the build.
