Bug#687406: jscribble: FTBFS: junit fails

2012-09-19 Thread Hideki Yamane
tags 687406 patch
thanks

Hi,

I've investigate this issue, and root cause is failure with access
 to X11 server as below.

 1)
 testAutomaticSaveOnPageFlipForward(tests.jscribble.notebook.NoteBookTest)java.lang.InternalError:
Can't connect to X11 window server using ':0' as the value of the DISPLAY
 variable.

So I just disabled its test by attached patch. Please consider if you
 apply the patch or not.

 Thanks.

Bug#681387: unblock: resiprocate (follow up)

2012-09-19 Thread Daniel Pocock

Hi Cyril,

Killian made the upload and a month has passed... do you think it is now
OK to unblock?

The packages run on various production servers already. If you need
extra evidence of testing, there was a live demo of installing this
package on the FreeSWITCH webcast/weekly call (also showing off the
convenience of Debian and wheezy to a new audience):
http://wiki.freeswitch.org/wiki/Weekly_Conference_Call#Past_Calls

Please let me know if there is anything else I can do to assist in
evaluating this unblock request.

Regards,

Daniel

It would have been nice to see it uploaded in the meanwhile…

20 days is fine - we've already had some feedback on 1.8.4 and now
 there is a 1.8.5 release

Would you be happy to accept 1.8.5 on the same terms?

I attach a debdiff and SVN log output (1.8.4 vs. 1.8.5)

Anyway, please upload 1.8.5 to unstable ASAP, we'll see in a month or so
 what happened.

Agreed - that is how most of the fixes came into 1.8.5 - e.g. one user
found that the --help output was crashing the program

None of these issues are strictly release critical - but they are all
fixes that provide a better experience of the package.

The diff is indeed large for a --help crasher fix…

No promise on our (possibly) unblocking this package after the said
 period of time.

Understood - do I need to put Closes: #681387 in the changelog for
 upload?

Nope, this isn't a bug report against your package anyway.

 KiBi.

Hi,

It's **well known issue** for CJK users (includes me), so I'll downgrade
severity. People deal with this issue just export LANG=C, or use fbterm
 or zhcon.

Maybe kmsconsole will help us in the future but it's not in Debian yet.

Samuel Thibault sthiba...@debian.org wrote:
 - There are some fbterms (such as bterm) which are able to show such

Yes. But task-lang package can provide such frame buffer terminal package.
task-japanese has fbterm and task-korean has zhcon now.

So, reporter would try zhcon is enough or not.

Thanks David, so you are going to send me a bulk update of them all?

Probably something that is waaay beyond the scope of this bug, but has
the translation group considered using a rsync spot like tp.org does?
That means when I am about to release a package I just do something like
  rsync -Lrtvz  translationproject.org::tp/latest/DOMAIN/  po

I don't know how hard that is to do, but its easy from the maintainers'

includes
http://ftp.debian-ports.org/debian/pool-m68k/main/g/gmsh/gmsh_2.3.0.dfsg-1_m68k.deb

That's why I claimed that the Debian Project is still distributing
gmsh/2.3.0.dfsg-1 built for the m68k architecture...

I thought that the situation for m68k was somewhat similar to that of
the non-free and contrib archives: not part of the Debian distribution,
but nonetheless distributed by the Debian Project through its official
infrastructure...

Could you please clarify?
Thanks for your time.

Dear Maintainer,
*** Please consider answering these questions, where appropriate ***

   * What led up to the situation?

In bash in tumx in rxvt under fvwm started with startx:

lee@yun:~$ ps -eo pid | sed 1d |xargs pmap -x |grep total |less

   * What exactly did you do (or not do) that was effective (or
 ineffective)?
   * What was the outcome of this action?

Sometimes it displays in less the following:

pmap: malloc.c:3096: sYSMALLOc: Assertion `(old_top == (((mbinptr) (((char *)

xargs: pmap: terminated by signal 6

   * What outcome did you expect instead?

Most of the time, it displays a list of the totals of memory usage of
processes as pmap sees them. I can run the above 15 times or so and
it works, then wait a minute or so and I get the error again and after
that it works again.

Hi and sorry for a huge delay on this. Line upload.cc:87 is:

When I dropped extra {}, it compiled fine on mips, but on amd64 I get

To me this this looks like an obvious gcc bug, either on mips or amd64.

Thanks David, so you are going to send me a bulk update of them all?

Yes, hopefully in a few days.

Probably something that is waaay beyond the scope of this bug, but has
the translation group considered using a rsync spot like tp.org does?

I recently noticed an old feature request of this kind: #105337.

That means when I am about to release a package I just do something like
   rsync -Lrtvz  translationproject.org::tp/latest/DOMAIN/  po
and all of the latest .po files are in my directory.

Some automatic tests for the accuracy of the PO files when translators
submit them are quite neat too.

I don't know how hard that is to do, but its easy from the maintainers'
 side.

Given the bad LP/Rosetta experience, I'm not sure a lot of people are
interested by such a feature (on the contrary), but I may be wrong.

Bug#686312: kdbg can't start app

2012-09-19 Thread Philip Ashmore

It went away shortly after I reported the bug - now it's back.

I'm using Debian/Sid and keep my packages current daily so I think one
update fixed it and then another one broke it again.

I now wish I had reported it as fixed so that the problem package(s)
could have been pinned down more easily.

I'm pretty sure that a package caused (then fixed, then caused) this
problem.

become distributable, just because the architecture is not officially
   supported by the Debian Project...

m68k is not just unofficial or not officially supported. It's not
been part of Debian, nor hosted on debian.org systems, since sarge was
archived. Debian is not distributing any packages on m68k and what
others might be doing on that architecture is not relevant to RC bugs in
  Debian.

 http://ftp.debian-ports.org/debian/pool-m68k/main/g/gmsh/gmsh_2.3.0.dfsg-1_m68k.deb

I'm not arguing that the package isn't on debian-ports. I'm arguing
that said fact is irrelevant in the context of this bug report.

That's why I claimed that the Debian Project is still distributing
gmsh/2.3.0.dfsg-1 built for the m68k architecture...

To the best of my knowledge, debian-ports is not a Debian project
service. It's run by a Debian Developer but that's not quite the same.
I assume there's a reason that it's still debian-ports.org (on
a .debian.net machine) and not X.debian.org. I'm happy to be corrected
though.

In any case, that's beside the point. The Debian BTS exists to track
the status of bugs in the official Debian archive, as defined by
ftp-master. Bugs in packages on backports.d.o, security.d.o or
debian-ports are not tracked there (there's a reasonable argument that
at least some of them should be, but the fact is that they're not).

The BTS is also perfectly capable of tracking where within the official
archive a bug has been resolved - even if m68k were still hosted on
ftp-master, once the bug had been closed by the upload of an updated
package then the next relevant action would be to ensure that the
package were either built or removed on m68k. Neither of those courses
of action requires the bug to be re-opened, nor would doing so be
appropriate.

Similarly, if the bug exist(s|ed) in stable, there'd be no need to
re-open the bug as the BTS would already be aware that stable still
contained the issue.

Regards,

Adam

Dear Maintainer,

I'm using a DELL vostro v131, and Debian Whezy (updated). When typing
one would like to turn off Touchpad so one doesn't move mouse around by
mistake.
When using Debian Squeeze, I had no problems with the FN+F3 key.

Now, if I type FN+F3, nothing happens.

The touchpad keeps enabled (or disabled), there is no change in the
state.

It would be nice to have this key working again. I still can turn it
on/off using a command line:

# disable:
synclient TouchpadOff=1

# enable:
synclient TouchpadOff=0

Thanks for your attention to this problem.

Bug#688182: kFreeBSD support

2012-09-19 Thread Christoph Egger
Package: linphone
Version: 3.5.2-10
Severity: wishlist
Tags: patch
User: debian-...@lists.debian.org
Usertag: kfreebsd

Hi!

Find attached a patch that will make linphone build successfully on
kfreebsd (and supply working video capability there). Doesn't touch
debian/* but only required source changes. I think it's easily
possible to make this also proper for upstream.

Description: Fix v4l support on kFreeBSD

This patch is enough to make linphone build on kfreebsd with video
enabled. The resulting linphone was successfully tested using
 cuse4bsd and webcamd (pending upload).

Ugg, well ...umpf ..yes it works..

But I would suggest trashing all the maintainer scripts and simply use
dh_installtex for the whole mess. That is the much safer alternative.

I am currently testing such an approach, but I am not sure what is the
better option for getting it into wheezy ...

2012-09-19 Thread Dmitrijs Ledkovs
As outlined over here [1] have you considered for cherry-picking config
patches from [2].

These are patches for configuration.

On the related issues there are references to the patches for 3.0+
client support.

Can any of them be cherry-picked for Debian?

 Okay,
  - it works(TM)
  - but maybe we have better solution to fix messy maintainer scripts,
named dh_installtex
- however applying it is questionable for wheezy

 right?

Fix for Debian#685817: Statusbar Update From Thread Instability

Move the direct statusbar GTK update from the background thread into a
signal to the main thread.
The statusbar update in the main thread is then performed according to GTK
scheduler via the idle update mechanism.

I'll upload package include this change with 10days/delayed (safe side).

Bug#681622: Update

2012-09-19 Thread Filipus Klutiero
It has now been more than a year since kernel.org was compromised. The
homepage still does not work.

The format of Vcs-Bzr was recently standardized, although not in detail.
Policy now says this:

Vcs-Arch, Vcs-Bzr (Bazaar), Vcs-Cvs, Vcs-Darcs, Vcs-Git, Vcs-Hg
(Mercurial), Vcs-Mtn (Monotone), Vcs-Svn (Subversion)

The field name identifies the VCS. The field's value uses the
version control system's conventional syntax for describing
repository locations and should be sufficient to locate the
repository used for packaging. Ideally, it also locates the branch
used for development of new versions of the Debian package.

In the case of Git, the value consists of a URL, optionally
followed by the word -b and the name of a branch in the indicated
repository, following the syntax of the git clone command. If no
branch is specified, the packaging should be on the default branch.

More than one different VCS may be specified for the same package.

I do not know Bzr but I believe that the Vcs-Bzr value of pcmciautils is
valid. This means the problem is on the PTS. There is a similar bug
reported for Vcs-CVS:
http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=561228

I hope someone will review the situation for all the fields above.

Bug#648220: Re-implementing use of $HOME/.dmrc

2012-09-19 Thread Paul Szabo
While testing wheezy, I noticed that ~/.dmrc is not used anymore; and
that my selection of session was not remembered. (I did not have any
success with the suggestion in comment#20.) I need session selection
in ~/.dmrc, so users get the same session on any of our servers that
share home directories via NFS.

I re-implemented the session selection functionality of ~/.dmrc by
adding a couple of lines of code to /etc/gdm3/Xsession (attached).

I understand that suggesting pkg-config might reduce the prevalence of
this bug, but how would that solve it?

There is no solution to the problem of 'optional dependencies'; this is
the best you're going to get.

Ben.

If by 'optional dependencies' you mean assuming a feature provided by a
package on which the dependency is not declared as absolute, there are
certainly solutions; declare the dependency as absolute or stop assuming
the feature's presence.

Note that the absence of a solution for a bug, even if it would be real,
would not solve the bug.

 Hi,
jruby in Wheezy is still affected by
 http://cve.mitre.org/cgi-bin/cvename.cgi?name=CVE-2011-4838

 http://www.nruns.com/_downloads/advisory28122011.pdf

Since Wheezy already has 1.6.5, updating to 1.6.5.1 seems like a good idea?

 Wheezy has 1.5.6, not 1.6.5.

Anyway, I've extracted the patch, it's attached.

 Cheers,
 Moritz

Hello Moritz,

Thank you for attaching the patch. I have it applying cleanly and am in
the process of preparing an upload. However, currently the jruby
package is FTBFS due to an issue with one of its build-deps, nailgun,
which is installing a bad symlink.

 $ ls -al /usr/share/java/nailgun*
 -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 25607 Jul 18 22:54 /usr/share/java/nailgun-0.9.0.jar
 -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 7048 Jul 18 22:54

 lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root17 Jul 18 22:54 /usr/share/java/nailgun.jar -

Anyway, that's a separate bug. Just wanted to comment that this bug is
being worked on.

Cheers,
tony

Bug#682726: [linux-source-3.4] make xconfig: Unable to find the QT4 tool qmake.

2012-09-19 Thread Jonathan Nieder
Hi,

Filipus Klutiero wrote:

If by 'optional dependencies' you mean assuming a feature provided by a
package on which the dependency is not declared as absolute, there are
certainly solutions; declare the dependency as absolute or stop assuming the
 feature's presence.

Neither of those would be appropriate in this case.

However, if you'd like to improve the error message, that would
probably be a welcome change upstream. Upstream would be the place to
propose such a change (with a patch); it does not seem worth tracking
in Debian.

Thanks for your help,
Jonathan

Bug#682354: gthumb: glib errors, crash on startup

2012-09-19 Thread Hideki Yamane
Hi,

My current guess is that libgtk-3-dev should not generate = 3.2 deps
but = 3.4 ones -- gtk+3 maintainers, what do you think?

Well, when gthumb was built there was libgtk-3-dev 3.2.x and gthumb
 asked Build-Depends: libgtk-3-dev (= 3.2.0) so it's reasonable I think.

 dpkg.log says
 2012-07-22 01:31:48 status half-configured libglib2.0-0:amd64 2.32.3-1
 2012-07-22 01:31:49 status installed libglib2.0-0:amd64 2.32.3-1

 and reportbug said
Versions of packages gthumb depends on:
(snip)
 ii libglib2.0-0 2.32.3-1GLib library of C routines

It seems that the root cause is libglib2.0-0 package was not installed
completely.
If so, let's close this bug (squash! squash! :)

It is like 4 months that we're trying to get 8 languages with complete
debconf localization in wheezy and that will be broken by this, if
this package enters testing.

You have an outstanding call for translations for the changes that
modified these debconf templates. Please wait for it to complete and
make sure that you get a full update for: Czech (cs), Danish (da),
German (de), Spanish (es),
French (fr), Portuguese (pt), Russian (ru), Swedish (sv). Then please
upload and I won't object anymore to an unblock.

I appreciate the effort you have put up to now in maintaining this
package in an l10n-friendly way so I think we can easily reach an agreement.

I can for instance make sure you get these 8 needed updates (among
others probably). I can even shake the late comers (there will be some).

I'm not a member of the release team, so their decision may be
different from my suggestion, though. I hope it will not..:-)

Many thanks in advance for considering my objection, still..:-)

 Hi,

Could you please enable the selinux security driver on libvirt compiled
 on linux.

This bug is more a reminder bug. This shouldn't be implemented until
 #559356 is fixed.

Somebody with interest in SELinux would need to fix up the necessary
policies (as you noted). Are you in any way interested to do this? I'd
be happy to do so but I'm lacking the time for any serioius Debian work
at the moment.
Cheers,

Bug#688187: unblock: scim/1.4.14-2

2012-09-19 Thread Hideki Yamane
Package: release.debian.org
Severity: normal
User: release.debian@packages.debian.org
Usertags: unblock

Hi release managers (and scim and scim-anthy maintainers),

I've checked RC bug in scim-anthy in Wheezy (Bug#687401).
The changes in newest scim-anthy 1.2.7-5 is here.
 - scim (= 1.4.6), libscim-dev (= 1.4.6), autotools-dev, pkg-config,
 + scim (= 1.4.6), libscim-dev (= 1.4.14-2), autotools-dev, pkg-config,

The reason is scim-anthy was unblocked (Bug#685036) and migrated
to testing but scim (1.4.14-2) still stops in unstable.

So, release managers, can you consider to unblock scim to fix RC as well?
