This service isn't unknown, you still have
 /etc/init.d/network-manager (and systemctl status
network-manager.service) should tell you that it is using the legacy
SysV init script. The Alias symlink in network-manager should probably
be shipped in the network-manager package directly instead of creating

Erk, sorry. I mean using /var/tmp/ sounds like the right solution to

Is there anything which we should change in autopkgtest for this?
(/var/tmp/ isn't specific to autopkgtest).

Bug#707573: Future of ko.tex* packages

2013-11-20 Thread Ricardo Mones
  Hi Norbert,

I just found your bug report and I have two proposals:
 * first, the ko.tex-extra-hlfont should be orphaned, too

 * second, I suggest *removing* this package as it is not
required by anyone, and since my last upload of
   src:texlive-lang 2013.20131112-1, and uptodate (2013)
version of ko-tex is included in texlive-lang-cjk.

 I see two options:
 * simple removal and I add a conflicts in texlive-lang-cjk
to that the package is removed
 * I build in a addition a transitional package ko.tex etc etc
(3-4 packages) from texlive-lang-cjk to force transition.

I am not sure what the QA Team wants. THere is the problem that
ko-tex has changed significantly since 2007, and maybe maybe
old documents cannot be set anymore. But having the version of
2007 in the archive does not help anyone.

My personal preference is: removal of the k.tex* package and
I just only add a conflict against ko.tex*.

 What do you think?

I believe your personal preference is the right thing to do, given
your summary. Filed the removal bug → http://bugs.debian.org/730016

Bug#729997: does not work with debconf's 'readline' frontend

2013-11-20 Thread Thomas Liske
Hi,

On 11/20/2013 01:07 AM, Raf Czlonka wrote:
Let me start by saying that I was really pleased when I first saw
'needrestart' in Debian. I have now installed it on all of my machines.

:-)

 1. Fix 'needrestart' to work with debconf's 'readline' frontend.

 2. Dependency, at least, on 'dialog' or 'whiptail' needs to be put in
place - I'd suggest the latter as it is both smaller, and itself has
fewer dependencies. Having a logical 'or' for both (more?) would
 suffice.

I would prefere needrestart to work with any of debconf's frontends.
I'll review the usage of debconf in needrestart and try to make it
working with the limited readline frontend.

I do not prefere to depend on any non critical packages. Dialog or
whiptail might be recommended, but needrestart needs to work w/o them.

P.P.S. I have noticed that the manual page for 'needrestart' bears the
version number of '0.2', which obviously doesn't match the version
available in the packaged. I'd suggest modifying the man page to either
include the version number only in the footer, and it being updated with
respective version of the program, or removing it altogether.

I'll drop the version number... I'm wondering why I've included it at all.

Thanks for reporting!

Regards,
Thomas

 Thanks in advance.

there is a workaround for this error. You need to comment out line 237

There is also a patch available at launchpad [1].

Bug#695974: two missing manpages (adt-virt-schroot, adt-testreport-cronjob)

2013-11-20 Thread Martin Pitt
I added a manpage for adt-virt-schroot to current git.

I wonder if we should just entirely remove the adt-testreport-*
scripts and the entire /usr/share/doc/autopkgtest/examples/ config
collection, as it's not being used anywhere and seems rather outdated.

Ubuntu is using Jenkins for running autopkgtests, and Debian plans to
do the same. Other parties won't be able to do anything useful with
these host specific configurations, and they shouldn't start mailing
maintainers either.

Ian, Zach, any opinion about this?

Thanks,

Martin

Bug#729997: does not work with debconf's 'readline' frontend

2013-11-20 Thread Raf Czlonka
On Wed, Nov 20, 2013 at 09:06:28AM GMT, Thomas Liske wrote:

Nice to hear/read that. Good choice!

I'd prefer to see it working with readline too, and not Depend on or
Recommend anther - Suggests should suffice, IMVHO.

Ta!

 Thanks for reporting!

Don't mention it.

Thanks for a prompt reply and good news about future changes.

Regards,

rjc

Bug#722138: Dependency can be added now

2013-11-20 Thread Benjamin Eikel
Hello,

I just discovered that the kde-telepathy-desktop-applets package was not
installed on my system due to the missing dependency. After searching for a
bug report, I found this one here that exactly describes the problem I
discovered. The plasma-runner-telepathy-contact package is already available
in testing so that, as far as I can see, the missing dependency can be added
now.

Thanks for your work on the KDE Telepathy package!

Kind regards
Benjamin

Bug#730022: gdb: does not handle window resize correctly

2013-11-20 Thread folkert
Package: gdb
Version: 7.6-5
Severity: normal

Hi,

When running gdb on an ncurses application, gdb fails to do what is neccessary
to inform the application of the window resize.
Even if I first enter handle SIGWINCH'. Yes, the signal is forwarded but the
resize fails: half of the output is missing. This happens with programs which
happily resize when not run in gdb.

Bug#730023: ml2 agent support

2013-11-20 Thread Zang MingJie
Package: neutron-plugin-openvswitch-agent
Version: 2013.2-4
Severity: normal

ML2 and OVS share the same agent, but use different configuration files,
(/etc/neutron/plugins/ml2/ml2_conf.ini over
/etc/neutron/plugins/openvswitch/ovs_neutron_plugin.ini)

The openvswith is already deprecated by ml2 in the havana release, but

Which does not should anything.
Idem with starting /usr/bin/mysqld_safe by hand.

I removed skip-locking from /etc/mysql/my.cnf and it fixed the issue.

Maybe a check should be done in the init script to make sure that the
option is not enable.

Bug#730024: fails to start when icons are missing

2013-11-20 Thread chrysn
Package: evolution
Version: 3.10.1-2
Severity: normal

the current experimental version does not declare a dependency on
appropriate icons, but fails to start up when the icons are missing.
(or, if your default view is not the calendar, it crashes when the
calendar view is selected). from a starting a session:

the problem can be worked around by

# ln -s ../icons/gnome/16x16/status/gtk-missing-image.png /usr/share/pixmaps

for the moment, but evolution should rather depend on a package that
provides icons to start.

the issue showed up when running from a completely empty home directory.

(this might be a more general gnome packaging thing, eg. epiphany often
has missing icons in experimental version, but it doesn't make it
crash.)

Version: 3.10.11-1
Followup-For: Bug #714476

Dear Maintainer,

Using Debian testing, kernel was upgraded today to linux-image-3.11.2-686-pae.
After two reboots with this new kernel, the bug did not happen.

The bug seems to be solved, at least for this kernel.

Thanks for the time you spend improving Debian,

Bug#729553: shutdown-at-night: Shuts down machines with the user still active

2013-11-20 Thread Petter Reinholdtsen
Control: tags -1 + patch pending

I've implemented what I believe is a fix for this. It currently
detect an unused KDM session, and assume the machine is busy if it
fail to detect the kdm login screen. It should be extended to detect
a unused lightdm and gdm session.

Here is the patch, already commited in my local git repositry but not
pushed to alioth as alioth is still down because of disk failure.

Please test it. Also, let me know what the xlsclients output from
lightdm and gdm is, to extend it to those environments too.

A similar fix should be added to the killer package too, but it
probably would have to use the xprintidle function instead of
xlsclients.

Bug#730026: [motif] Keyboard navigation of menus not working correctly

2013-11-20 Thread Graham Inggs

Source: motif
Version: 2.3.4-1
Severity: normal

Motif 2.3.4 includes a fix for upstream bug #1565 (The active window
changes to inactive when the drop down
list is clicked) [1]. A side-effect of this fix is that keyboard
navigation of menus does not work correctly.

Steps to reproduce:
Install and run xball (or any other Motif application with a menu bar).
Click on 'File' in the menu bar (or press Alt-F).
Now press Left Arrow or Right Arrow and the highlight should move left
and right through the horizontal menu options (File, Actions, Options
and Help).

Now press Up Arrow, Down Arrow or Enter and nothing happens.

Rebuilding Motif without fix #1565, as suggested in the
cdesktopenv-devel mailing list [2], solves the problem.

While testing Motif built without fix #1565 applied, I have been unable
to reproduce the original bug.
i.e. I have not seen an active window change to inactive when a drop
down list is clicked, even when testing reproducer.tar.gz attached to
the upstream bug report.

Bug#730027: am-utils: init script fails to properly stop amd, leading to indefinite lock-up while shutting down

2013-11-20 Thread Timo Buhrmester
Package: am-utils
Version: 6.2+rc20110530-3~mi
Severity: important
Tags: patch

Attached is a patch to fix a problem causing the am-utils init script
to get stuck when stopping, which typically means that the machine in
question fails to shutdown or reboot.

The root cause of this problem seems to be improper ordering of the
actions required to bring down the automounter in a clean way.
In particular, what does /not/ work is this (from the original init
script):
 amq | awk '{print $1}' | tac | xargs -r -n 1 amq -u
 kill -s TERM $pid
[ # wait 120 seconds for something to become umounted (pointlessly) ]
Here, we request a graceful unmount of all filesystems in question,
however, an instant later we send SIGTERM. Evidently amd does not have
time to fulfill those umount requests -- once having received SIGTERM,
it ceases to act on amq's unmount requests (the init script waits
120 seconds, anyway). Worse, after waiting that out, we finally reach:
 # Attempt to forcibly unmount the remaining filesystems
 [...]
 umount -l -f $fs
, at which point we (and hence, the shutdown) hang forever, (at least
for NFS volumes from what I can tell)

The attached patch fixed that issue by reordering the actions as follows:
1. Request (via amq -u) the umounting of all automounted filesystems
2. Wait (max N seconds) until everything has been umounted
3. /Then/ send SIGTERM
4. Wait (max M seconds) for the amd process to disappear
5. If it didn't disappear, we try our last-resort measures
i.e. umount -f followed by kill -9, like the original init script does

The attached patch reliably fixed those issues for our 150-ish debian
office computers, where it's in production as of roughly 2 months ago.

PS: Besides the main issue, two minor bugs were addressed in one go:
- hide the ``kill: no such process'' message on the console we get
when probing for amd's existence with kill -s 0

- remove ``returncode'' variable which didn't work anyway because it
gets assigned to in a subshell

On a last note to avoid confusion: We are using the wheezy-version
of am-utils (6.2) on Debian squeeze, at the moment. This is due to an unrelated
issue with am-utils 6.1.5. The init scripts of both versions are near
identical, anyway. (The local version suffix '~mi' in the 'Version'-header
is due to us having applied the proposed fix to the init script already.)

Bug#648148: autopkgtest: Support running as user

2013-11-20 Thread Martin Pitt
tag 648148 pending
thanks

Hello all,

Ian Jackson [2012-06-11 1:55 +0100]:
 Hi. Martin, you wrote:
for testing build recipes I'd like to skip all the apt parts and run
adt-run as normal user. This currently fails because it always tries
  to set up apt.

I agree that this would be sensible. But I think the right answer is
to make this depend on the `root-on-testbed' testbed capability, not
 on opts.user.

As for the apt parts, autopkgtest was already fixed to not do the
binary publishing unless it actually had something to publish. As for
installing test depends, running as user with -null only really works
for the trivial case of empty Depends:; arguably this isn't very
interesting, but if we can't install dependencies then we can't run
the test. As a corner case, it should be possible to detect that all
dependencies are already installed and we don't install built
binaries, but pbuilder-satisfy-dependencies doesn't support this.

In short, in this situation it is easier to just run debian/tests/foo
by hand and skip adt-run completely. In all others, it's not a biggie
to run it with the -schroot runner (which works fine as user) or
through sudo, so I don't care enough about this corner case to write
lots of code around it.

One remaining wart is this:

$ adt-run ./ -d  --- adt-virt-null
[...]
adt-run: tree0t-s: [
su: must be run from a terminal
adt-run1: testbed executing test finished with exit status 1

That's easy to fix with what you mention (bind it to root-on-testbed):
  https://gitorious.org/autopkgtest/autopkgtest/commit/7d191312
(temporary clone of the git repo while alioth is offline)

That's about as far as I'd like to go, so closing with above commit.

Bug#730029: fdm does not match hostname/fqdn against Subject Alternative Name

2013-11-20 Thread g1
Package: fdm
Version: 1.6+cvs20111013-2
Severity: wishlist
Tags: patch upstream

fdm rejects the SSL certificate for one of the pop3s servers listed in my
configuration, because the hostname does not match the CN in the X509
structure.

However, the hostname does match one of the DNS names listed in the
X509v3 Subject Alternative Name extension, and should be considered valid.

In fact, other pop3s clients (notably mutt and icedove) do accept the
certificate, while fdm requires a no-verify option to proceed to my inbox.

The attached patch implements the logic to check SANs in case the CN does not
match.

Best regards,
g

I suppose you're running your own kernel without cgroups support. That's
#729877. If that's not the problem, please open a new bug against gdm3. This bug
is tracking a different issue now.

Bug#729707: Acknowledgement (base: jessie hangs on boot with 'INFO: task init:PID blocked for more than 120 seconds')

2013-11-20 Thread Olivier Mehani
I am seeing the same problem on a third (i686) Jessie machine (a Dell
Mini 1011).

As for the amd64 machines, I thought an upgrade from
init-system-helpers_1.11 to 1.13 fixed the problem on one of the amd64
boxes, as it booted properly once, but none of the others did.

I am a bit reluctant to reboot the one running machine at the moment.

I can boot the other amd64 laptop on a 2.6 kernel for inspection, but
unfortunately, the i686 laptot only has 3.x kernels, and all stall at
the same point.

Is there anything I should look at?

Bug#730030: /usr/share/munin/plugins/quota_usage_: does not keep what documentation promises

2013-11-20 Thread Dominik George
Package: munin
Version: 2.0.17-3
Severity: normal
Tags: patch

The quota_usage_ plugin promises that it will look at quotas for
/dev/foo if linked as quota_usage_foo. This is not true - in the
plugin code, the filename is split at the _ character, then the
*first* part is shift'ed away. The remainder is joined with /
characters and appendede to /dev/, resulting in /dev/usage/foo for
quota_usage_foo. A second shift on the split array fixes that.

Another way would be to name the plugin quota_foo, but aparently
that wasn't the author's intention. On the other hand, the plugin
can never have worked as documented.

Attached is a patch that fixes the plugin to work as documented.

Bug#729468: vino-preferences missing

2013-11-20 Thread tev...@gmail.com
I'm also facing this problem.

According to the Gnome Wiki[1], vino configuration should move to
gnome-control-center, but I coundn't find it there too. I took a look at
vino's gsettings stuff and found out that you can enable vino to run with

gsettings set org.gnome.Vino enabled true

After this command, I was able to run vino with:

/usr/lib/vino/vino-server, but when I connect with vinagre, I only get a
black screen.

Any further help is appreciated.

fewer dependencies.

Nice to hear/read that. Good choice!

it was just a small glitch on debconf's return code handling (of the
progress 'widget'). After fixing it the readline frontend works like a
charm w/o any further modifications. If you want to give it a try take a
look at:
https://github.com/liske/needrestart/commit/460b0740c32b2499886ca6d49addb7a0e3edb930

I'd prefer to see it working with readline too, and not Depend on or
Recommend anther - Suggests should suffice, IMVHO.

This is Patrick's part ;-) - but I think we just leave it as it is. No
need to add a dep/rec/sugg on whiptail as it is part of Debian's base
installation.

I've fixed it upstream and it will be part of the 0.4 release. I think
I'm going to release it soon.

Bug#730032: redmine: local file cvs repository doesn't load in redmine (needs /tmp/cvs2 dir)

2013-11-20 Thread Wim Bertels
Package: redmine
Version: 1.4.4+dfsg1-2+deb7u1
Severity: normal

Hallo,

this is the setup:
* on the server a cvs repo and redmine installed
(* cvs repo needs only to be showed as a archive)

IF
CVSROOT in redmine is:
/var/lib/cvs/cluster
the module is
demo
THEN
the webinterface of redmine can't show the project

Checks done:
www-data needs to be able to checkout the cvs repo,
so i made sure this works locally
(eg sudo -u www-data cvs -d /var/lib/cvs/cluster checkout demo)
(this works after putting permissions in order)

but then redmine internally needs a directory
/tmp/cvs2
which doenst exist.

So a patch in my opinion would be:
- let www-data make the dir /tmp/cvs2 if it doesnt exist

apache log:
cvs [rlog aborted]: cannot stat /tmp/cvs2: No such file or directory
cvs [rls aborted]: cannot stat /tmp/cvs2: No such file or directory

I did not test this on other machines,
so it could be just a local problem.

mvg,
Wim

I upgraded to gnome 3.8 today. I went to an xfce-session for the upgrade.

After the upgrade, stopped gdm and started the gdm service so logind

Shared my credentials and logged in to GNOME-flashback.

After logging in, see no wallpaper/background in GNOME-flashback.

The problem is that gnome-settings-daemon dropped the background plugin:

  Version 3.7.90

  - Remove background plugin, as background handling is now
done in gnome-shell

So some other component may need to do this for flashback.

This is the reply I got from upstream :-

patches/ubuntu_revert_no_wallpaper.patch:
  - revert upstream changes to use a rgba desktop view, until the other

I saw the bug https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu-gnome/+bug/1159430 .

I have no idea if that is good or bad fix or what needs to be done.

The file() thing here comes from the system() source. system() is
expanded at run-time, depending on the OS/platform/whatever syslog-ng is
running on.

You can run syslog-ng --preprocess-into=/dev/stdout -s to see what it
does with the config file. You'll find the file(/dev/kmsg) thing
there.

Can you tell me the kernel version you have? And does this happen in a
container, VM, or on bare metal?

As a quick workaround, you can remove the system() line from the config,
and replacing it with whatever it expands to (see the command above),
without the /dev/kmsg part.

Bug#730038: juman: FTBFS: target 'debian/juman-dic/usr/share/juman/dic' is not a directory

2013-11-20 Thread Aaron M. Ucko
Source: juman

Justification: fails to build from source (but built successfully in the past)

Builds of juman covering only its architecture-dependent binary
packages (as on the autobuilders, or with dpkg-buildpackage -B) have
been failing:

  cp -p dic/*.dic debian/juman-dic/usr/share/juman/dic

debian/juman-dic.install to let dh_install cover these files, and
moving the loop that runs dh_link to a new override_dh_link target.

Bug#724645: Error: Could not prefetch package provider 'apt': invalid byte sequence in US-ASCII

2013-11-20 Thread Bernhard Schmidt
Package: puppet-common
Followup-For: Bug #724645

Hi,

I have the same problem. At a first glance it is caused by the
description of the kbd package, which contains UTF-8 quotation marks
around console-data in the description.

You will probably want to install a set of data files, such as the one
  in the “console-data” package.

As far as I understand Policy section 5.1 this is legal, so definitely a
bug in Puppet.

Best Regards,
Bernhard

Bug#730040: lvm2: global_filter issue: lvm commands create a ????P??? directory in the current one when exiting

2013-11-20 Thread Yann Amar
Package: lvm2

Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,

When 'global_filter' is enabled (with any value, say [ r/.*/ ] for example),
and if 'obtain_device_list_from_udev' is set to 0 (zero), then lvm commands
create an empty P??? (unprintable basename) directory in the current one:

root@sid:~# egrep '^\s*(obtain_device_list_from_udev|(global_)?filter)\s*='
/etc/lvm/lvm.conf

This may be easily reproduced from a freshly installed system, with or
without LVM layout (I dont't know if it makes a difference, but tests
have been performed on systems installed on USB sticks or external HDD,
as my computer has no internal disk). Also, this leads to the creation
of this unprintable directory at each boot, directly under /. I have
checked ftp://sources.redhat.com/pub/lvm2/WHATS_NEW, and I doubt this
has been fixed in upstream.

Cheers,
quidame

what it does with the config file. You'll find the
 file(/dev/kmsg) thing there.

root@drake~# syslog-ng --preprocess-into=/dev/stdout -s

Can you tell me the kernel version you have? And does this happen
in a container, VM, or on bare metal?

As a quick workaround, you can remove the system() line from the
config, and replacing it with whatever it expands to (see the
command above), without the /dev/kmsg part.

Removed the line and the service seems to start indeed. Thanks.

I suppose you're running your own kernel without cgroups support.

No, I'm running current 3.11-2-amd64 (3.11.8-1) from sid.

If that's not the problem, please open a new bug against gdm3.

GDM3 now works fine for me, and I'm not sure if there is actually
a problem to be solved, so I don't see what I would report.

OTOH, I've got a bunch of issues with current GNOME, that might be
consequences of using ConsoleKit instead of logind. I'm investigating
these, and will make it clear it might be related to this issue when
I'll report it.

This bug is tracking a different issue now.

Fair enough.

thanks for filing a bug. However, I'm bit puzzled: are you trying to
build systemtap 2.3-1 on ubuntu lucid?

Yes, to be able to build the lttng tools which build-depend on it.
However, ltt does not require such a recent version, and I was able to
easily backport 1.7-1 instead.

In any case, please provide full build log.

I'm afraid I won't be able to for various reasons.

Retranscribing the last lines:

checking for ebl_get_elfmachine in -lebl... no
checking for dwfl_module_getsym in -ldw... yes
checking for dwarf_next_unit in -ldw... no
configure: error: elfutils, libdw too old, need 0.148+

and then config.log shows ld: cannot find -lebl and undefined reference to
dwarf_next_unit

Bug#730044: radicale: please package documentation

2013-11-20 Thread W. Martin Borgert

Package: radicale
Version: 0.8-1

The package comes with very little documentation, but refers to
http://www.radicale.org/documentation

This has some disadvantages:

 1. Today their server was/is offline or exhausted and I had to
use Googles cache.

 2. The online documentation does not necessarily refer to the
Debian package version, i.e. it does not match the stable
package, but the testing one. Stable users will have
problems with renamed config file sections.

 3. IMHO, Debian packages should be useful even when there is
no or limited Internet, e.g. one would have difficulties
in configuring radicale in their Pyongyang office without
documentation.

Please package the documentation, if permitted. Thanks!

Bug#730045: radicale: problem with accessing other users calendars

2013-11-20 Thread W. Martin Borgert

Package: radicale
Version: 0.7-1.1

I have two users, who should be able to read, but not write the other
users calendar. Access is via htpasswd, rights type is owner_write.

Access to the own calendar works fine with iceowl-extension, but when
accessing the other users calendar, the password dialogue is repeated
again and again.

The problem disappeared with an ad-hoc backport of the jessie version
0.8-1.

Ok, in that case you should know that the packaging was never designed
to work like that. You can't just take a source package from debian
wheezy and expect it to build on ubuntu lucid.

Bug#730048: kmail does not properly quote From field when replying

2013-11-20 Thread LeJacq, Jean Pierre
Package: kmail
Version: 4:4.11.3-1
Severity: normal

When sending a new message, the From field is properly quoted. For example:

  From: LeJacq, Jean Pierre jeanpierre.lej...@quoininc.com

When replying to a message, the From field in not quoted, resulting
in an incorrect address in the receipient's email client.

  From: LeJacq, Jean Pierre jeanpierre.lej...@quoininc.com

If the Identity selection is toggled, the proper quoting is
applied. This is the workaround I am using.

Given the recent alioth demise, I guess you didn't get the notification about

Bug#730050: vcalendar plugin crash

The plugin crashes with the backtrace below. I've used the plugin for
several months without issue, but something seems to be causing
problems. I'm not convinced it is related, but whenever this happens,
I have always clicked around in the GNOME Calendar from the toolbar at

thanks

Hi,

Proposed patch fixes build for mips/mipsel.
Upstream author has fixed this the same way
(https://github.com/ClusterLabs/booth/commit/03a34c6f06a0606b8e89c6b9af2eeb1a15c1d149).

Can you consider including this patch or getting the latest tarball from
upstream?

Regards,
Dejan

Bug#730051: libapache2-mod-php5: Segfault after PDO memory corruption, possibly Apache-related?

2013-11-20 Thread Will Aoki
Package: libapache2-mod-php5
Version: 5.4.4-14+deb7u5
Severity: normal

I am unsure as to whether this bug should be filed against PHP or Apache, so I
flipped a coin and filed this against PHP.

After upgrading from squeeze to wheezy, a particular script has started causing
segfaults, but only when it retrieves a particular database record. I have not
yet succeeded at constructing a test case that does not contain private data
and a giant chunk of legacy code.

The segfaults are happening in functions called from PDO's free_statement. The
script uses PDO to connect to a Microsoft SQL Server database.

Findings:

- The crash only happens for me when Apache's mod_deflate is enabled. The crash
does not happen with the command-line PHP interpreter and does not seem to
occur when I hit the site over SSL.

- Although I haven't conducted an exhaustive search, the crash only seems to
happen with a particular database record. I can see nothing unusual about
  that record.

- Bug #696590 notwithstanding, the core dumps show crashing in simple functions
called from free_statement. I expect that the actual cause of the problem
  lies elsewhere.

- If I delete this line from the script:

tdpSpecial Notes:/ptextarea cols=80 rows=2
name=specialnotes?php echo htmlentities($specialnotes); ?/textarea/td

the crash stops happening. If I alter that line, even going so far as to
delete all the PHP code on that line, the script still crashes, but if I
delete that line, the script does not crash.

- If I look at stmt-columns in free_statement, there seems to be evidence of
memory corruption. See the GDB transcripts.

If nobody objects within the next two weeks, I am going to request the
removal of gridengine from Debian, as it will by that time be the only
limiting factor to remove lesstif2 from Debian. It seems there is just
nobody within Debian capable and interested enough to support it.

@Dave: keep up the good work. I hope for you that some day a Debian
developer will come with enough interest to take up the task to support
 your work in Debian.

Attached.

The version information for #729995 suggests that it also applies to the
version of gnash in testing and unstable. Is that correct? If not then
 please fix the versions.

Done above.

Thanks.

Bug#730052: libkactivities6: Don't work properly without libkactivities-bin

2013-11-20 Thread Francesco
Package: libkactivities6
Version: 4:4.11.3-1
Severity: minor
Tags: upstream

Dear Maintainer,

   * What led up to the situation?

Normal system upgrade, libkactivities-bin and libkactivities-models1 packages
were uninstalled and kde activities was not working anymore: joust one default
activity (main), no way to create others activities, no way to show old working
activities.
Applet were marked as present in the desktop but not visible.

   * What exactly did you do (or not do) that was effective (or
 ineffective)?

I looked in .kde/share/config for some broken local config in activitymanagerrc
or
plasma-desktop-appletsrc with no success (even looking for correctnes of
activity id
there was no way to show other than main)
I looked for installed/uninstalled packages and I found the system uninstalled
libkactivities-bin ... looked into dependencies and it's marked as recommends.
Installing it solved the problem

The bug is related to dependencies: libkactivities6 should depend strictly on
libkactivities-bin (or libkactivities-bin should be installed by kde and it has
libkactivities6 as dependency)

Hope my report could be useful for anyone with the same problem since dependency
issue is not solved

Dear Maintainer,

I have some servers that have users that log in that are members of many
groups
in an LDAP directory. When I watch debug output from nscd I see that the
user
is looked up, then the members of each group the user is a member of are
looked
up. In my case, looking up users that are members of the group that the user
logging in is a member of causes a delay of up to one minute. As far as I
can
see, this also provides no value.

Instead of pasting the entire log that I have, I'll share a link to it. This
log has been trimmed in the middle... [...] A few hundred more of
these...

It could be possible that the culprit is actually ssh or pam, but I have
zero
clue how to debug that. If I can provide any debugging help, please, let me
know.

Bug#730055: dblatex: Inifinite loop for Japanese filename

Dear Maintainer,

The attached test file contains a filename tag enclosing a Japanese

dblatex unusable for Japanese documentation.

I agree, that this is not very user-friendly. You are free to talk with
upstream author about your suggestions. =)

You mean I should bypass the Debian bug tracker and the
package maintainers to get things fixed?

Bug#730039: it kinda works but is weird.

2013-11-20 Thread shirish शिरीष
Hi all,
The way it works is, you have to go inside the the directory/folder
and then bookmark this location becomes active.

This is not intuitive at all. I was expecting drag and drop or even
right-clicking on the directory/folder and being able to bookmark but
both these options are not available :(

So it's a usability bug rather than an actual bug. I don't know how
else to define it.

Bug#730056: elinks: leaves alternatives after purge: /usr/bin/www-browser

2013-11-20 Thread Andreas Beckmann
Package: elinks
Version: 0.12~pre6-3
Severity: important
User: debian...@lists.debian.org
Usertags: piuparts

Hi,

during a test with piuparts I noticed your package left unowned files on
the system after purge, which is a violation of policy 6.8:

http://www.debian.org/doc/debian-policy/ch-maintainerscripts.html#s-removedetails

The leftover files are actually alternatives that were installed by the
package but have not been properly removed.

While there is ongoing discussion how to remove alternatives correctly
(see http://bugs.debian.org/71621 for details) the following strategy
should work for regular cases:
* 'postinst configure' always installs the alternative
* 'prerm remove' removes the alternative
* 'postrm remove' and 'postrm disappear' remove the alternative
In all other cases a maintainer script is invoked (e.g. upgrade,
deconfigure) the alternatives are not modified to preserve user
configuration.
Removing the alternative in 'prerm remove' avoids having a dangling link
once the actual file gets removed, but 'prerm remove' is not called in
all cases (e.g. unpacked but not configured packages or disappearing
packages) so the postrm must remove the alternative again
(update-alternatives gracefully handles removal of non-existing
alternatives).

Note that the arguments for adding and removing alternatives differ, for
removal it's 'update-alternatives --remove name path'.

Filing this as important as having a piuparts clean archive is a release
goal since lenny.

From the attached log (scroll to the bottom...):

Bug#730057: Should this package be removed?

Severity: important

freesci is more or less dead upstream and has already attracted
two NMUs. The freesci code was the basis for the SCI support in
ScummVM (and there were fixes on top of it).

So I suggest we remove freesci in favour of ScummVM?

Cheers,

Yeah you're right, it is far from clear. I also tried dnd and right clicking a
folder first, and I only found the item in the toolbar menu because I found it
in a bugzilla report. There's https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=686961

it does not provide syslogd functionality, so I'd like to keep running

I looked in the logs and could not find any combination of:
# pages combi-widget set to All

Wanted to see if that was as set with any of the earlier logs. Knew you
where right, seems obvious. I must have changed that option by mistake,
along the way. Page Options = # Pages #: 1, is what I have always used.

Also tried with version 1.0.4-5, to confirm. And indeed that was the
cause of the scanning over and over.

Anyways all works fine now, with the patch.

Thank You for the quick replies and the patch to test,
Michel
