I am not sure what the QA Team wants. THere is the problem that ko-tex has changed significantly since 2007, and maybe maybe old documents cannot be set anymore. I added a manpage for adt-virt-schroot to current git. I wonder if we should just entirely remove the adt-testreport-* scripts and the entire /usr/share/doc/autopkgtest/examples/ config collection, as it's not being used anywhere and seems rather outdated. Ubuntu is using Jenkins for running autopkgtests, and Debian plans to do the same. Package: neutron-plugin-openvswitch-agent Version: 2013.2-4 Severity: normal ML2 and OVS share the same agent, but use different configuration files, (/etc/neutron/plugins/ml2/ml2_conf.ini over /etc/neutron/plugins/openvswitch/ovs_neutron_plugin.ini) The openvswith is already deprecated by ml2 in the havana release, but the package doesn't provide the init script for ml2 agent. Bug#729553: shutdown-at-night: Shuts down machines with the user still active
Control: tags -1 + patch pending I've implemented what I believe is a fix for this. It currently detect an unused KDM session, and assume the machine is busy if it fail to detect the kdm login screen. It should be extended to detect a unused lightdm and gdm session. Here is the patch, already commited in my local git repositry but not pushed to alioth as alioth is still down because of disk failure. Please test it. Also, let me know what the xlsclients output from lightdm and gdm is, to extend it to those environments too. A similar fix should be added to the killer package too, but it probably would have to use the xprintidle function instead of xlsclients. diff --git a/debian/changelog b/debian/changelog index b653c23..d3572b5 100644 --- a/debian/changelog +++ b/debian/changelog @@ -1,5 +1,6 @@ shutdown-at-night (0.13) UNRELEASED; urgency=low + [ Mike Gabriel ] * Package becomes team-maintained: Debian Edu Packaging Team. * debian/control: + Package migrated to Git. Bug#730026: [motif] Keyboard navigation of menus not working correctly
Source: motif Version: 2.3.4-1 Severity: normal Motif 2.3.4 includes a fix for upstream bug #1565 (The active window changes to inactive when the drop down list is clicked) [1]. A side-effect of this fix is that keyboard navigation of menus does not work correctly. Steps to reproduce: Install and run xball (or any other Motif application with a menu bar). Click on 'File' in the menu bar (or press Alt-F). Now press Left Arrow or Right Arrow and the highlight should move left and right through the horizontal menu options (File, Actions, Options and Help). Now press Up Arrow, Down Arrow or Enter and nothing happens. Rebuilding Motif without fix #1565, as suggested in the cdesktopenv-devel mailing list [2], solves the problem. While testing Motif built without fix #1565 applied, I have been unable to reproduce the original bug. i.e. I have not seen an active window change to inactive when a drop down list is clicked, even when testing reproducer.tar.gz attached to the upstream bug report. Bug#730027: am-utils: init script fails to properly stop amd, leading to indefinite lock-up while shutting down
Package: am-utils Version: 6.2+rc20110530-3~mi Severity: important Tags: patch Attached is a patch to fix a problem causing the am-utils init script to get stuck when stopping, which typically means that the machine in question fails to shutdown or reboot. The root cause of this problem seems to be improper ordering of the actions required to bring down the automounter in a clean way. In particular, what does /not/ work is this (from the original init script): amq | awk '{print $1}' | tac | xargs -r -n 1 amq -u kill -s TERM $pid [ # wait 120 seconds for something to become umounted (pointlessly) ] Here, we request a graceful unmount of all filesystems in question, however, an instant later we send SIGTERM. Evidently amd does not have time to fulfill those umount requests -- once having received SIGTERM, it ceases to act on amq's unmount requests (the init script waits 120 seconds, anyway). Worse, after waiting that out, we finally reach: # Attempt to forcibly unmount the remaining filesystems [...] umount -l -f $fs , at which point we (and hence, the shutdown) hang forever, (at least for NFS volumes from what I can tell) The attached patch fixed that issue by reordering the actions as follows: 1. Request (via amq -u) the umounting of all automounted filesystems 2. Wait (max N seconds) until everything has been umounted 3. /Then/ send SIGTERM 4. Wait (max M seconds) for the amd process to disappear 5. If it didn't disappear, we try our last-resort measures i.e. umount -f followed by kill -9, like the original init script does The attached patch reliably fixed those issues for our 150-ish debian office computers, where it's in production as of roughly 2 months ago. PS: Besides the main issue, two minor bugs were addressed in one go: - hide the ``kill: no such process'' message on the console we get when probing for amd's existence with kill -s 0 - remove ``returncode'' variable which didn't work anyway because it gets assigned to in a subshell On a last note to avoid confusion: We are using the wheezy-version of am-utils (6.2) on Debian squeeze, at the moment. This is due to an unrelated issue with am-utils 6.1.5. The init scripts of both versions are near identical, anyway. (The local version suffix '~mi' in the 'Version'-header is due to us having applied the proposed fix to the init script already.) Bug#648148: autopkgtest: Support running as user
tag 648148 pending thanks Hello all, Ian Jackson [2012-06-11 1:55 +0100]: Hi. Martin, you wrote: for testing build recipes I'd like to skip all the apt parts and run adt-run as normal user. This currently fails because it always tries to set up apt. I agree that this would be sensible. But I think the right answer is to make this depend on the `root-on-testbed' testbed capability, not on opts.user. As for the apt parts, autopkgtest was already fixed to not do the binary publishing unless it actually had something to publish. As for installing test depends, running as user with -null only really works for the trivial case of empty Depends:; arguably this isn't very interesting, but if we can't install dependencies then we can't run the test. As a corner case, it should be possible to detect that all dependencies are already installed and we don't install built binaries, but pbuilder-satisfy-dependencies doesn't support this. In short, in this situation it is easier to just run debian/tests/foo by hand and skip adt-run completely. In all others, it's not a biggie to run it with the -schroot runner (which works fine as user) or through sudo, so I don't care enough about this corner case to write lots of code around it. One remaining wart is this: $ adt-run ./ -d --- adt-virt-null [...] adt-run: tree0t-s: [ su: must be run from a terminal adt-run1: testbed executing test finished with exit status 1 That's easy to fix with what you mention (bind it to root-on-testbed): https://gitorious.org/autopkgtest/autopkgtest/commit/7d191312 (temporary clone of the git repo while alioth is offline) That's about as far as I'd like to go, so closing with above commit. Bug#730029: fdm does not match hostname/fqdn against Subject Alternative Name
Package: fdm Version: 1.6+cvs20111013-2 Severity: wishlist Tags: patch upstream fdm rejects the SSL certificate for one of the pop3s servers listed in my configuration, because the hostname does not match the CN in the X509 structure. However, the hostname does match one of the DNS names listed in the X509v3 Subject Alternative Name extension, and should be considered valid. In fact, other pop3s clients (notably mutt and icedove) do accept the certificate, while fdm requires a no-verify option to proceed to my inbox. Bug#729707: Acknowledgement (base: jessie hangs on boot with 'INFO: task init:PID blocked for more than 120 seconds')
I am seeing the same problem on a third (i686) Jessie machine (a Dell Mini 1011). As for the amd64 machines, I thought an upgrade from init-system-helpers_1.11 to 1.13 fixed the problem on one of the amd64 boxes, as it booted properly once, but none of the others did. I am a bit reluctant to reboot the one running machine at the moment. I can boot the other amd64 laptop on a 2.6 kernel for inspection, but unfortunately, the i686 laptot only has 3.x kernels, and all stall at the same point. Bug#730030: /usr/share/munin/plugins/quota_usage_: does not keep what documentation promises
Package: munin Version: 2.0.17-3 Severity: normal Tags: patch The quota_usage_ plugin promises that it will look at quotas for /dev/foo if linked as quota_usage_foo. This is not true - in the plugin code, the filename is split at the _ character, then the *first* part is shift'ed away. The remainder is joined with / characters and appendede to /dev/, resulting in /dev/usage/foo for quota_usage_foo. A second shift on the split array fixes that. Another way would be to name the plugin quota_foo, but aparently that wasn't the author's intention. On the other hand, the plugin can never have worked as documented. Bug#729997: does not work with debconf's 'readline' frontend

Having a logical 'or' for both (more?) would suffice. I would prefere needrestart to work with any of debconf's frontends. I'll review the usage of debconf in needrestart and try to make it working with the limited readline frontend. I do not prefere to depend on any non critical packages. Dialog or whiptail might be recommended, but needrestart needs to work w/o them. Nice to hear/read that. Good choice! it was just a small glitch on debconf's return code handling (of the progress 'widget'). After fixing it the readline frontend works like a charm w/o any further modifications. If you want to give it a try take a look at: https://github.com/liske/needrestart/commit/460b0740c32b2499886ca6d49addb7a0e3edb930 I'd prefer to see it working with readline too, and not Depend on or Recommend anther - Suggests should suffice, IMVHO. Package: redmine Version: 1.4.4+dfsg1-2+deb7u1 Severity: normal Hallo, this is the setup: * on the server a cvs repo and redmine installed (* cvs repo needs only to be showed as a archive) IF CVSROOT in redmine is: /var/lib/cvs/cluster the module is demo THEN the webinterface of redmine can't show the project Checks done: www-data needs to be able to checkout the cvs repo, so i made sure this works locally (eg sudo -u www-data cvs -d /var/lib/cvs/cluster checkout demo) (this works after putting permissions in order) but then redmine internally needs a directory /tmp/cvs2 which doenst exist. Bug#730044: radicale: please package documentation
Package: radicale Version: 0.8-1 The package comes with very little documentation, but refers to http://www.radicale.org/documentation This has some disadvantages: 1. Today their server was/is offline or exhausted and I had to use Googles cache. 2. The online documentation does not necessarily refer to the Debian package version, i.e. it does not match the stable package, but the testing one. Stable users will have problems with renamed config file sections. 3. IMHO, Debian packages should be useful even when there is no or limited Internet, e.g. one would have difficulties in configuring radicale in their Pyongyang office without documentation. Bug#730051: libapache2-mod-php5: Segfault after PDO memory corruption, possibly Apache-related?
Package: libapache2-mod-php5 Version: 5.4.4-14+deb7u5 Severity: normal I am unsure as to whether this bug should be filed against PHP or Apache, so I flipped a coin and filed this against PHP. After upgrading from squeeze to wheezy, a particular script has started causing segfaults, but only when it retrieves a particular database record. I have not yet succeeded at constructing a test case that does not contain private data and a giant chunk of legacy code. The segfaults are happening in functions called from PDO's free_statement. The script uses PDO to connect to a Microsoft SQL Server database. Findings: - The crash only happens for me when Apache's mod_deflate is enabled. The crash does not happen with the command-line PHP interpreter and does not seem to occur when I hit the site over SSL. - Although I haven't conducted an exhaustive search, the crash only seems to happen with a particular database record. I can see nothing unusual about that record. - Bug #696590 notwithstanding, the core dumps show crashing in simple functions called from free_statement. I expect that the actual cause of the problem lies elsewhere. - If I delete this line from the script: tdpSpecial Notes:/ptextarea cols=80 rows=2 name=specialnotes?php echo htmlentities($specialnotes); ?/textarea/td the crash stops happening. If I alter that line, even going so far as to delete all the PHP code on that line, the script still crashes, but if I delete that line, the script does not crash. - If I look at stmt-columns in free_statement, there seems to be evidence of memory corruption. See the GDB transcripts. Bug#730052: libkactivities6: Don't work properly without libkactivities-bin
Package: libkactivities6 Version: 4:4.11.3-1 Severity: minor Tags: upstream Dear Maintainer, * What led up to the situation? Normal system upgrade, libkactivities-bin and libkactivities-models1 packages were uninstalled and kde activities was not working anymore: joust one default activity (main), no way to create others activities, no way to show old working activities. Applet were marked as present in the desktop but not visible. * What exactly did you do (or not do) that was effective (or ineffective)? I looked in .kde/share/config for some broken local config in activitymanagerrc or plasma-desktop-appletsrc with no success (even looking for correctnes of activity id there was no way to show other than main) I looked for installed/uninstalled packages and I found the system uninstalled libkactivities-bin ... looked into dependencies and it's marked as recommends. Installing it solved the problem The bug is related to dependencies: libkactivities6 should depend strictly on libkactivities-bin (or libkactivities-bin should be installed by kde and it has libkactivities6 as dependency) Hope my report could be useful for anyone with the same problem since dependency issue is not solved -- System Information: Debian Release: jessie/sid Architecture: i386 (i686) Kernel: Linux 3.11-2-686-pae (SMP w/1 CPU core) Locale: LANG=it_IT.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=it_IT.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/dash Versions of packages libkactivities6 depends on: ii libc62.17-93 ii libkdecore5 4:4.11.3-2 ii libqt4-dbus 4:4.8.5+git121-g2a9ea11+dfsg1-2 ii libqtcore4 4:4.8.5+git121-g2a9ea11+dfsg1-2 ii libstdc++6 4.8.2-5 Versions of packages libkactivities6 recommends: ii libkactivities-bin 4:4.11.3-1 libkactivities6 suggests no packages. -- no debconf information -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. And you can only bookmark directories and not individual files it seems :( I don't remember if one is/was able to bookmark files earlier or not. -- Regards, Shirish Agarwal शिरीष अग्रवाल My quotes in this email licensed under CC 3.0 http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc/3.0/ http://flossexperiences.wordpress.com 065C 6D79 A68C E7EA 52B3 8D70 950D 53FB 729A 8B17 -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. Bug#730053: libnss-ldapd causes long login times because of recursive group lookups
Package: libnss-ldapd Version: 0.8.10-4 Severity: important Dear Maintainer, I have some servers that have users that log in that are members of many groups in an LDAP directory. When I watch debug output from nscd I see that the user is looked up, then the members of each group the user is a member of are looked up. In my case, looking up users that are members of the group that the user logging in is a member of causes a delay of up to one minute. As far as I can see, this also provides no value. Instead of pasting the entire log that I have, I'll share a link to it. This log has been trimmed in the middle... [...] A few hundred more of these... It could be possible that the culprit is actually ssh or pam, but I have zero clue how to debug that. Bug#730039: it kinda works but is weird.
Hi all, The way it works is, you have to go inside the the directory/folder and then bookmark this location becomes active. This is not intuitive at all. I was expecting drag and drop or even right-clicking on the directory/folder and being able to bookmark but both these options are not available :( So it's a usability bug rather than an actual bug. I don't know how else to define it. -- Regards, Shirish Agarwal शिरीष अग्रवाल My quotes in this email licensed under CC 3.0 http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc/3.0/ http://flossexperiences.wordpress.com 065C 6D79 A68C E7EA 52B3 8D70 950D 53FB 729A 8B17 -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. Bug#730056: elinks: leaves alternatives after purge: /usr/bin/www-browser
Package: elinks Version: 0.12~pre6-3 Severity: important User: debian...@lists.debian.org Usertags: piuparts Hi, during a test with piuparts I noticed your package left unowned files on the system after purge, which is a violation of policy 6.8: http://www.debian.org/doc/debian-policy/ch-maintainerscripts.html#s-removedetails The leftover files are actually alternatives that were installed by the package but have not been properly removed. While there is ongoing discussion how to remove alternatives correctly (see http://bugs.debian.org/71621 for details) the following strategy should work for regular cases: * 'postinst configure' always installs the alternative * 'prerm remove' removes the alternative * 'postrm remove' and 'postrm disappear' remove the alternative In all other cases a maintainer script is invoked (e.g. upgrade, deconfigure) the alternatives are not modified to preserve user configuration. Removing the alternative in 'prerm remove' avoids having a dangling link once the actual file gets removed, but 'prerm remove' is not called in all cases (e.g. unpacked but not configured packages or disappearing packages) so the postrm must remove the alternative again (update-alternatives gracefully handles removal of non-existing alternatives). Note that the arguments for adding and removing alternatives differ, for removal it's 'update-alternatives --remove name path'. Filing this as important as having a piuparts clean archive is a release goal since lenny.
