Bug#756287: apt-utils: Allow to generate contents only

2014-07-28 Thread Dimitri John Ledkov
Package: apt-utils
Version: 1.0.4
Severity: normal
Tags: patch

Dear Maintainer,

Blast from the past, mvo wrote in 2012 a patch to allow apt-ftparchive
generate command to perform Contents update only, however that patch
does not seem to have been applied yet. [1] [2]

I've now rebased it, and tested it to make sure it does provide a
speed-up gain for generating Contents on large repositories, without the
penalty of re-generating dists.

Please consider applying that patch, see attachment.

Subject: [PATCH] Make Packages Sources generation optional, during Generate
 call

refactor a bit, extract code out of Generate() into
DoGenerate{PackagesAndSources,Contents}, add new
APT::FTPArchive::ContentsOnly option to allow skipping the generation
of Package/Source files (if they are generated e.g. by some db outside
of apt-ftparchives control)

Bug#756261: libpam-systemd: rdepends on libpam-systemd can't run with sysvinit as libpam-systemd depend on systemd-sysv only

Please add an alternate dependency on sysvinit-core and respective on
  upstart,
  though.

That doesn't make sense at all. I suppose you meant systemd-shim.

No! Either the dependency on systemd-sysv has to be removed or
sysvinit-core and upstart has to be added alternatively. A dependeny
on systemd-shim doesn't do nothing here. The situation at the moment
is as follows:

Users don't have any chance to choose an initsystem other than
systemd when they want to use packages which are rdepend on
libpam-systemd. And these are many many. I don't see any progress to
find a fix here. On the cotrary it seems that systemd is pushed by
their maintainers to get the only usable init system in DEBIAN.

Anyway please check existing bug reports before filing new ones to not
 create unnecessary work.

Anyway, please try first to understand the intention of bug reports
and then post your statements

Bug#756289: abcde: cddb-tool required bsd-mailx

2014-07-28 Thread Reuben Thomas
Package: abcde
Version: 2.5.4-1
Severity: normal
Tags: patch

cddb-tool uses the -a flag to the mail command to add a header line. GNU
mailutils does not have an -a flag, and heirloom-mailx uses it to attach a
file instead, hence if either of those is installed as /usr/bin/mail, then
cddb-tool will not work.

I have filed a bug about this upstream:
https://code.google.com/p/abcde/issues/detail?id=111

For Debian, there’s a simple workaround: make abcde depend on bsd-mailx (as
different packages providing “mailx” can be installed together), and change
line 199 of cddb-tool to invoke “bsd-mailx” rather than “mail”. This fixes
the bug (I’ve tested it!).

Bug#721103: clinfo: crashes for nvidia at built_in_kernels

2014-07-28 Thread Andreas Boll

 Dear Maintainer,
when nvidia opencl installed (GTX-560Ti), clinfo crashes with
 uninformative E: -30
It is because nvidia opencl driver is of version 1.1 and does not
know about CL_DEVICE_BUILT_IN_KERNELS, so it returns error -30, and
method query in device.cpp throws an exception.
The result is anyway never used (nor printed), so it is possible
to remove that query at all from device::load. Though it would be much
better to make clinfo more user-friendly, that is, for unknown string
parameters to return a string like N/A or (null), and for integer
parameters to have some error values.
Or maybe query should return a status, so unknown parameters would
not be printed at all, and we won't have to use exceptions. Anyway, it
is too unusual to get no results at all because of absence of one
 single element.

mesa-opencl-icd supports so far only OpenCL 1.1 and is also affected
by this bug.
amd-clinfo and clinfo from https://github.com/Oblomov/clinfo work fine.

As mentioned above removing the query CL_DEVICE_BUILT_IN_KERNELS fixed
the crash.

I've attached a patch to fix clinfo for OpenCL 1.1 drivers.
Please apply this patch.

Thanks,
Andreas.

Bug#756290: docker.io mention in README.Debian no longer necessary

2014-07-28 Thread Olivier Berger
Package: docker.io
Version: 1.0.0~dfsg1-1
Severity: minor

Hi.

The command-line docker name clash is no longer present since bug #740863 was
closed.

So the following paragraph in the README.Debian is probably no longer necessary
:

Due to a binary name conflict, the Debian Docker binary is installed as
docker.io. Please adjust your scripts and expectations accordingly.

  https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=740856#10

Hope this helps.

Best regards,

(Intent to Package) to RFP (Request for Package), because this bug hasn't seen
any activity during the last 15 months.
