I don't know R so I may be missing something, but if you depend on
default-jdk you do get a full JDK and not just a JRE. When you install
default-jdk you get a JDK under /usr/lib/jvm/default-java (which is
actually a symlink to /usr/lib/jvm/java-7-openjdk-amd64).

Bug#758123: New upstream version: 0.8.0

2014-08-14 Thread Daniel Svensson
Package: abraca
Version: 0.7.0-1

A new upstream version has been released, and can be found at a new
download site so the script doesn't poll it automatically yet.

It fixes all open Debian bugs for this package.

As usual it's signed with my pgp signature so you can verify that it's
still the authorative download site:

http://sourceforge.net/projects/abraca/files/

Source remains hosted at github:

https://github.com/Abraca/Abraca

The build system has changed from SCons to waf so the package needs to be
updated a bit. You can look at the XMMS2 packaging for inspiration since it
uses waf as well:

Hmm, so there's only an alpha for now... How stable is it? Are there going to be
further ABI changes before the final release? Is there a schedule / roadmap? I'm
not very confident with doing the transition until there's a beta or an RC with
an ABI stability promise.

Cheers,

Hi,

the attached patch enables the last hardening linker flag ("bindnow",
aka. -Wl,-z,now) applicable to this package, that's been left disabled
until now. Please consider applying it.

Thanks for maintaining pyopenssl in Debian!

Hm, it seems dnsmasq requires dbus in any case, even when running under
sysvinit or upstart. So I don't understand the alternative dependency
you suggest.

Afaics, dnsmasq should simply add a Depends on dbus?

Bug#758121: bibletime: Texts doesn't display properly

2014-08-14 Thread Giacomo Mirabassi
Package: bibletime
Version: 2.9.2-1.1+b1
Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,

today I launched BibleTime after several months and found that all the
texts, both bibles and commentaries are unreadable. For each line/verse
only a ?x&eu is present.

I tried to remove ~/.bibletime and ~/.sword suspecting something related to my
settings (especially fonts), but after relaunching the program and reinstalling
all the texts the situation is
the same.

This happens to all the texts I have installed indipendently from their
language (Hebrew, English and Italian).

Bug#756202:

2014-08-14 Thread Tobias Frost

Hi,

I saw the same after converting to systemd as init:
Delay until some systemd script times out.

In the hope this helps someone seeing the same issue, this are my observations:

In my case the reason was that somehow the UUID of the swap device changed,
so that systemd was simply waiting for the wrong device.
The UUID changed when I migrated to systemd, however the very first reboot was
still fast.
(though I did not boot to X this time has I had to recompile the nvidia stuff)

After I changed to the new UUID, the system boots as expected.
Maybe this helps someone with the same isssue..

I don't know why the UUID changed in the first place.
The upgrade also included a kernel update.

I don't like to upgrade the software of my computer too often. I
suppose it is closer to wheezy than to jessie and that's why I don't see
the problem.

What is the output of

perl -e 'printf "%04X - %04X - %04X\n", hex("e6"),
ord(lc(pack("U",hex("00e6", ord(uc(pack("U",hex("00e6";'

It has to be

00E6 - 00E6 - 00C6

Bug#758116: tasksel: Allow to select Blends selection during installation - just "DE", "Web server", "Mail server" is NOT enough

2014-08-14 Thread Andreas Tille
Package: tasksel
Version: 3.14.1
Severity: normal

Hi,

beeing inspired by bug #758096 (I was asked to separate this topic from
the topic of this bug) and the recent discussion on Blends list, I'd
like to add a pointer to the thread basically starting here:

   https://lists.debian.org/debian-blends/2014/08/msg4.html

Currently we can provide tasksel control files in the following
Blends (packages):

   Debian Edu (edu-tasks)
   Debian Games (games-tasks)
   Debian GIS (gis-tasks)
   Debian Junior (junior-tasks)
   Debian Med (med-tasks)
   Debian Science (science-tasks)
   DebiChem (debichem-tasks)

The packages contain a file

   /usr/share/tasksel/descs/-tasks.desc

and the usual stuff in /usr/share/doc/ but nothing else. They
are exclusively designed as tasksel input.

IMHO it would do a nice service to our users to promote these topics on
our installers at the time when tasks will be selected.

Kind regards

   Andreas.

I managed to test this by just copying the file into /usr/, and the
resulting index order were now correct. But I see lots of messages
like this:

WARNING: Found a :close-range in the index that wasn't opened before!
Location-reference is 8 in keyword (Pogue, David)
 I'll continue and ignore this.

WARNING: Found no :close-range matching an already opened one!
Location-reference is 9 in keyword (power, concentration of).
Maybe I lost some of the regular location-references.

And the index entries for these ranges seem to be incorrect, no page
reference is included in the index entry. No idea what causes it, nor
how to rewrite the docbook file to work properly. :(

If you want to test yourself, run 'git clone
https://github.com/petterreinholdtsen/free-culture-lessig.git' to get the
source of the docbook document, and run 'make freeculture.pdf
freeculture.nb.pdf' to build the English and Norwegian Bokmål version
of the book.

You could possibly try to install a 9.2 kernel on your wheezy system,
although some of the userland tools might not be compatible:
https://packages.debian.org/jessie/kfreebsd-image-9.2-1-amd64

It is possible to have both 9.0 and 9.2 kernels installed together and
choose one from GRUB at boot time, so you can change back in case there
are any problems.

Bug#758115: Disabled wait state X'32EE' on IPL of zIPL

2014-08-14 Thread Stephen Powell
Package: s390-tools
Version: 1.24.1-1
Severity: critical

Justification: The entire system is unbootable

After installing s390-tools version 1.24.1-1 and re-running zipl,
a reboot of the system causes a disabled wait PSW to be loaded
during boot, with a wait state code of X'32EE', prior to the
zipl menu being written out. The system is unbootable. This may
be related to the "general brokenness" of C on s390x in jessie/sid.

You have two options for getting updated data:
1) file monitoring: the program uses the operating system's file change
notification mechanism to know when the file has been changed by another
program

2) interval checking: the program reloads the file regularily in a
configurable time interval.

I personally use (1) for my /var/spool/$user mail file because it doesn't get
updated very often so regular reloads would just be a waste of resources.

Cheers,
Kevin

Bug#758110: base: suspend to ram key (Fn+F4) does not work anymore

2014-08-14 Thread Cédric Roux
Package: base
Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,

I did an upgrade of Debian testing yesterday and since then the Fn+F4
key on the laptop (ACER timeline X 5820TZG) does not suspend to RAM anymore.

I removed (apt-get purge) acpid, acpi-supoprt, acpi-support-base.

I use fvwm, not gnome/kde, that I run with startx.

I tried a cold boot, I tried in a linux console (i.e. no X).

I see that the key press is visible in /dev/input/event0 (the keyboard).
I see with xev that it is reported as keysym "XF86Sleep" in the X world.

I tried to look on the internet but could not find something that
helps, thus this email.

The apt-get dist-upgrade of yesterday seems to have installed systemd
instead of what was there before. It might be related, but:
journalctl -u systemd-logind.service -b
reports:
Watching system buttons on /dev/input/event3 (Sleep Button)
So I don't think the problem is there.
I suspect the kernel, since /dev/input/event3 seems to be
silent (cat /dev/input/event3 shows nothing, whereas
cat /dev/input/event0 does).

Thanks for any hint. If you don't have enough information, I may
provide more.

Regards,
Cédric.

Sorry, that it went this way. The blog posts were a call that anybody
interested in the topic should contact us. The only one who did contact us was
Dominique Dumont. Most of the other work (except Config::Model) starved
several years ago.

We wanted something where most of it can go upstream during (or shortly after)
GSoC. The patches w/o or little reaction till years were not really a
invitation. (But we still tried it!) Dpkg is not the only place where it may
be done and it seems there is a good reason why several workarounds exist now.

However, I think bringing dpkg conffiles to our century would be an elegant
solution. But that unfortunately it still remains to be done.

This information would have been very useful earlier. A simple merge is
already possible with the patch Felix wrote (based on an earlier patch). That
would be already quite an improvement. However, if I understand you correctly,
the reason not to accept the patch is that you want the full solution (3-way)
or nothing. I understand that.

> > which then links to
> > https://wiki.debian.org/Teams/Dpkg/Proposals/ConffileDatabase

I wanted a proposal (based on ConffileDatabase and Config::Model approach, see
https://wiki.debian.org/PackageConfigUpgrade) before the beginning of GSoC
(later I wrote one, so that we have something to work with), unfortunately Ian
did not finish nor publish it.

best regards,
Markus

Bug#758107: tracker.debian.org: do not display section and priority of source packages

2014-08-14 Thread Ansgar Burchardt
Package: tracker.debian.org
Severity: minor

tracker.debian.org shows the priority and section of the source package
in the upper left corner (under "General"). We don't really care about
these and all new source packages get the arbitrary value misc:extra (or
contrib/misc:extra, non-free/misc:extra). Old packages still might have
different values, including "Priority: source" for many packages...

It might not be helpful for tracker.d.o to show these.

Bug#757961: Does not work with GCC 4.9, default GCC in Jessie

Hi Thomas

I tried editing /usr/include/host_config.h as below to bypass the GCC
version check.
After this change, I was able to build all of the CUDA 5.5 SDK samples
without error.

Let me know if this works for you too and I will prepare a patch.

In addition to the two patches already posted to this bug, this is also
fixed upstream in commit eea7213f80ed25e9a5de1a49b7da0e7108c7b7d1 since
end of 2012 (!). Is anyone still taking care of dkms in Debian? Or
should this package be orphaned?

Bug#758104: ITP: python-xstatic-jquery.tablesorter -- JQuery Tablesorter XStatic support

2014-08-14 Thread Thomas Goirand
Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist
Owner: Thomas Goirand

* Package name: python-xstatic-jquery.tablesorter
  Version : 2.0.5b
  Upstream Author : Radomir Dopieralski
* URL : https://github.com/stackforge/xstatic-jquery.tablesorter
* License : Expat & GPL (dual license)
  Programming Lang: Python, JS
Description : JQuery Tablesorter XStatic support

XStatic is a packaging standard to package external (often 3rd party) static
files as a Python package, so they are easily usable on all operating systems,
with any package management system or even without one.
 .
Many Python projects need to use some specific data files, like javascript,
css, java applets, images, etc. Sometimes these files belong to YOUR project
(then you may want to package them separately, but you could also just put
them into your main package). But in many other cases, those files are
maintained by someone else (like jQuery javascript library or even much bigger
js libraries or applications) and you definitely do not really want to merge
them into your project. So, you want to have static file packages, but you
don’t want to get lots of stuff you do not want. Thus, stuff required by
XStatic file packages (especially the main, toplevel XStatic package) tries to
obey to be a MINIMAL, no-fat thing. XStatic doesn't "sell" any web framework
or other stuff you don't want. Maybe there will be optional XStatic extensions
for all sorts of stuff, but they won't be required if you just want the files.
 .
By having static files in packages, it is also easier to build virtual envs,
support linux/bsd/... distribution package maintainers and even windows
 installs using the same mechanism.
 .
This package provides JQuery Tablesorter support as a Python module.

While it's a good practice to provide debugging symbols for libraries,
we can't provide debugging symbols for all binaries in the archive.
You can recompile glibc using DEB_BUILD_OPTIONS=debug to get debugging
symbols.

I am therefore tagging this bug as wontfix.

Beeing inspired by the recent discussion on Blends list, I'd like
to add a pointer to the thread basically starting here:

   https://lists.debian.org/debian-blends/2014/08/msg4.html

Currently we can provide tasksel control files in the following
Blends (packages):

   Debian Edu (edu-tasks)
   Debian Games (games-tasks)
   Debian GIS (gis-tasks)
   Debian Junior (junior-tasks)
   Debian Med (med-tasks)
   Debian Science (science-tasks)
   DebiChem (debichem-tasks)

The packages contain a file

   /usr/share/tasksel/descs/-tasks.desc

and the usual stuff in /usr/share/doc/ but nothing else. They
are exclusively designed as tasksel input.

IMHO it would do a nice service to our users to promote these topics on
our installers at the time when tasks will be selected.

Kind regards

   Andreas.

Perhaps, but in this case, there should be a timeout and an error
message.

In case the network didn't completely die, hg could also give progress
information (see what curl and apt-get do, for instance) and tell how
many seconds (when this is large enough) since it last received data
(a bit like mosh).

Giving absolutely no information is bad for the user, who cannot know
what to do: Wait? Abort?

Frankly I cannot see anything related to acpi-fakekey here, other than it's
installation triggering the insserv run. What is runmbbservice? Could it be
that you have third party software installed?

Please tell me which scripts you're talking about. In general, though, both
version should be the same in that regard. I take it both are up-to-date.

But then it wouldn't be the first time a bug creeped into the old config file
removal code.

Bug#758021:

2014-08-14 Thread Mathieu LOUIS
That would be nice indeed, I am willing to look into packaging
vim-youcompleteme with the new architecture but how should it be handled now
that ycmd can be run as a standalone server ? Should vim-youcompleteme be split
into two packages ? For example a package named youcompleteme providing ycmd
and vim-youcompleteme providing the vim plugin.

Thanks in advance.

Does pg_buildext already support cmake?

Following the example in pg_buildext(1) it breaks at `pg_buildext build
build-%v` because there is no Makefile.

Bug#758099: libgpod-common: Segfault in iphone-set-info when an iPad is connected

2014-08-14 Thread Peter Paluch
Package: libgpod-common
Version: 0.8.3-1.1+b1
Severity: normal

Greetings,

When an iPad is connected to my Debian notebook via USB, the iphone-set-info
segfaults. As a result, Rhythmbox does not see the attached device. This is
the dmesg transcript:

root@bach:/etc/apt# dmesg

iphone-set-info[7822]: segfault at 0 ip 7f9f3fc2de1a sp 7fffc54fe1a8
error 4 in libc-2.19.so[7f9f3fbac000+19f000]

I have tried installing the libgpod libraries v0.8.3-4 from experimental;
however, the libgpod-common 0.8.3-4 in experimental surprisingly depends on
libplist1 that was last available in wheezy and is not present in testing,
sid or experimental. As a result, the libgpod-common in experimental is
uninstallable to users running testing and more recent versions of Debian.
This appears to be an uploader's error. The 0.8.3-1.1+b1 version is compiled
against libplist2 and so should be the 0.8.3-4 in experimental as well.

Nonetheless, I have tried dowloading the 0.8.3-4 source packages and
compiling them myself, unfortunately, the problem was not solved. I also
recompiled the usbmuxd with the libgpod 0.8.3-4 but still no luck.

The thread at https://github.com/libimobiledevice/libimobiledevice/issues/86
appears to suggest the problem may be solved in the HEAD branch of usbmuxd.
If this is the case please reassign this bug to the usbmuxd package.

Thank you!

Best regards,
Peter

Bug#758100: perl: adopt versioned provides

2014-08-14 Thread Niko Tyni
Package: perl
Version: 5.18.2-7
Severity: wishlist
x-debbugs-cc: debian-p...@lists.debian.org

dpkg (1.17.11) unstable; urgency=low
[...]
* Add versioned Provides support:
- Add a new dpkg --assert-versioned-provides command.
- Packages can provide a specific version, “virtual (= 1.0)” which will
be honored, previously it would just be accepted when parsing.
- Non-versioned virtual packages will not satisfy versioned dependencies.
- Versioned virtual packages will satisfy non-versioned dependencies.
Based on skeletal code by Ben Collins .
Closes: #7330, #24934, #112131, #134582, #180316

I expect this will be very useful for us and will put an end to the
mess with 'perl (>= 5.18.0) | libdual-life-module (>= x.x)' dependencies.
AIUI, 'libdual-life-module (>= x.x)' should be enough in the future.

Assuming dpkg in wheezy already accepts the versioned provides when
parsing, I suppose we could put them in the perl package straight away
and start cleaning the dependencies after jessie.

Bug#758098: ITP: python-xstatic-jquery-migrate -- JQuery Migrate XStatic support

2014-08-14 Thread Thomas Goirand
Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist
Owner: Thomas Goirand

* Package name: python-xstatic-jquery-migrate
  Version : 1.2.1.1
  Upstream Author : Radomir Dopieralski
* URL : https://github.com/stackforge/xstatic-jquery-migrate
* License : Expat
  Programming Lang: Python, JS
Description : JQuery Migrate XStatic support

Maybe there will be optional XStatic extensions
for all sorts of stuff, but they won't be required if you just want the files.
 .
By having static files in packages, it is also easier to build virtual envs,
support linux/bsd/... distribution package maintainers and even windows
 installs using the same mechanism.
 .
This package provides JQuery Migrate support as a Python module.

Upstream apparently thinks both are handled by the desktop environment now.

Please help me understand: I run testing(i386) on a laptop that doesn't

appears untouched by the last upgrade.

What's the "standard" situation I should find myself in?

I applied the two patches to the dblatex deb package source, but ended
up with a binary package without the
dblatex-0.3.5/lib/dbtexmf/dblatex/grubber/xindylang.xml file. I tried
to adjust the build to get it included, but failed. How is this
supposed to be done?

Also, the package did not depend on xindy, which I installed manually.

Bug#735623: PDL maintenance in Debian Science VCS (was: pdl: FTBFS on mips, powerpc, s390x, sparc, (ia64): testsuite failures)

I hope you were successfully working on your thesis. :-)

When stumbling upon this bug since one of the packages I'm caring for
(libtfbs-perl) depends from pdl and does not migrate I was wondering
whether you might like to consider team maintenance in Debian Science
team. This would enable others to commit to the packaging. This does
not warrant any fix for this very problem per se but it has turned out
that it was possible to safe packages in the past when the main
maintainer was busy. (I also have put pkg-perl-maintainers in CC in
case these might be interested.)

BTW, since the build error says:

dpkg --build $(pwd)/debian/tmp ..
dpkg-deb: parse error, in file
`/build/buildd/pdl-2.2.1/debian/tmp/DEBIAN/control' near line 6 package `pdl':
`Depends' field, missing package name, or garbage where package name expected
make: *** [binary-arch] Error 2

I wonder how this should be caused by a architecture dependant problem
with type sizes.

Kind regards

   Andreas.

Bug#758096: tasksel: Allow to select specific packages during installation - just "DE", "Web server", "Mail server" is NOT enough

2014-08-14 Thread Vitaliy Filippov
Package: tasksel
Version: 3.20
Severity: important

Hi!

Inspired by the last discussion about default gnome3 in the installer
I want to say that now the tasksel itself very inconvenient.

During installation, it just offers you with very broadly defined
"desktop environment", "web server", "mail server" and etc.

You can't choose what DE you want, what mail server you want etc;
moreover you can't even know what each option is!

I think it renders tasksel nearly useless - I must always uncheck
all tasks and install everything manually. Some people said the same
in that last discussion.

tasksel should offer a selection (submenu?) for each option, at least
with most popular packages. For example it's really critical that
you should be able to select between KDE, XFCE and gnome3; maybe also
MATE and etc. For mail server - at least exim/postfix... And so on.

It seems it's a rather simple feature - maybe it's even possible to
implement it before releasing jessie?

I would suggest (2), deactivate this test (at least for for mips) as
the most practical short term solution for the Debian packages.
Or if you prefer (3), don't target mips for the Biopython package
(yet).

Medium term, I hope we can fix the C code to handle either
Endian platform - option (1).

Bug#756941: Gnome-Shell 3.13-1 hangs at GDM

2014-08-14 Thread Marc Bonnor
Hi,

I tried a couple more things ...

I found the missing symbol was added to mutter recently when wayland
branch was merged, so I installed latest packages; mutter-common,
libmutter0d, gsettings-desktop-schemas, gir1.2-mutter-3.0.

By the way when I say latest I mean experimental ...

The error has changed, see attached user.log, but result is the same,
that is a blank screen with cursor blinking.

I also tried building the Debian gnome-shell=3.13.1 source package and
installing, but result was the same.

hope this helps ...

I noticed the initial blogs about elektra some time ago, and was
surprised (not in a positive way) that yet another time a GSoC had
been approved w/o any kind of previous interaction with a project it
supposedly required coordination with. Had pending sending myself a
mail to the gsoc list but had other stuff to do, and pretty much lost
the motivation after those blog posts… :/

I think I've mentioned before, in any case I'm planning on getting
the conffiledb stuff ready hopefully before the freeze. Which is a
requirement for this bug being fixed.

Err, that's not what happened… it got old pretty quick when it was
obvious that the reviews were being ignored, from both me an Jonathan,
and Jonathan said as much on the list after similar claims appeared
there…

Bug#758094: libgl1-mesa-glx:x32: SIGSEGV in OpenGL applications on x32

2014-08-14 Thread Thorsten Glaser
Package: libgl1-mesa-glx
Version: 10.2.5-1
Severity: normal

Hi!

After crossgrading from i386 to x32, OpenGL applications crash.

glxgears from mesa-utils:i386 (8.2.0-1) works, but
glxgears from mesa-utils:x32 (8.2.0-1) fails:

Program received signal SIGSEGV, Segmentation fault.
0xf76db60b in glLightfv () from /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnux32/libGL.so.1

stack_end=0xd448)
at libc-start.c:287
#3 0x00401cfc in ?? ()

I’ve first noticed that in “xlock -nolock -mode cage”,
which, with debugging information, has:

Program terminated with signal SIGSEGV, Segmentation fault.
#0 0xf6af524b in glGetBooleanv () from /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnux32/libGL.so.1

Bugs occur in (first glxgears, then xlock):

So this appears to be an indirect function call both times.

Bug#749974: new maitreya push

2014-08-14 Thread Paul Elliott

Please find the new push on
http://anonscm.debian.org/gitweb/?p=collab-maint/maitreya.git
it upgrades to the upstream's 7.0.7 and does not have the bugs
the previous version had.

It can be uploaded to unstable as soon as wxsqlite3_3.1.0
is released from experimental. Since I was told that maitreya
was the last program that needed to be setup to work with wx 3.0
I believe that can be done immeatiately. Since maitreya has been
removed from testing, I hope this will happen as soon as possible.

Sincere wishes to all and thanks for helping keep maitreya in debian!

Thanks for the links and the information. The reason why I started with the
bug tracker was that I wanted to see whether somebody would respond in time.
I wanted to contribute these changes to Ians GSOC project, but it has a
deadline.
That’s why we changed to ucf very quickly. However, I still would be happy to
have this feature in dpkg and I also will tell Ian to point to the links in his
blog post.

Bug#751277: python-biopython: FTBFS on mips* powerpc s390x

Do you have any suggestion what to do regarding the Debian package?
I see the following options:

  1. waiting for your confirmation / patch
  2. deactivating the specific test
  3. exclude mips for biopython
  4. ? any better idea ?

In the current state all the work we spent in biopython over the last
monthes will not migrate to testing for the simple reason that the
current package in testing just does not run the test suite at build
time and moreover python3 is not supported.

Kind regards

 Andreas.

Confirmed.

Below is an additional patch that removes the border from progress
controls in the status bar too. It also tries to remove the border
around the search input in the media/radio tabs, but for some reason
the result is still bordered controls.

Cheers and thanks again!

Bug#758093: ltspfsd: quietly fails with systemd as init system

2014-08-14 Thread Vagrant Cascadian
Package: ltspfsd
Version: 1.3-1
Justification: unusable with default init system
Severity: serious
X-Debbugs-Cc: alk...@gmail.com

When running systemd as the init system, ltspfsd quietly fails to start.
It's normally started from udev on device insertion or media change if
ltspfsd isn't already started.

Works fine if switching back to sysvinit-core... so there's something
specific to the systemd environment.

Bug#757735: Grave bug indeed

2014-08-14 Thread Raphael Manfredi
Daniel,

This is a grave bug indeed. Since it appears very early in the
initialization process and I cannot reproduce it here obviously,
I am going to need your help to spot what is going on.

Obviously, you're going to have to run it through gdb, but you
need to go past the initial SIGSEGV event, which is completely
expected in the sig_compute_pc_index() routine.

To do that, you need to resume execution past that initial SIGSEGV.
I suggesting the following to do that easily:

Put a breakpoint in assertion_message().
Then run, and continue past the initial SIGSEGV.
As soon as the assertion failure occurs, you'll need to backtrace the
thread and post the resulting stack.

Thanks,
Raphael

Bug#758090: ltspfs: lbmount use of "mount --move" incompatible with systemd

2014-08-14 Thread Vagrant Cascadian
Package: ltspfs
Version: 1.3-1
Justification: unusable with default init system
Severity: serious
X-Debbugs-Cc: alk...@gmail.com

ltspfs doesn't appear to work with systemd, as it relies on mounting the
fuse based ltspfs filesystem in one location, and then using "mount
--move" to relocate it to another section. But using "mount --move" with
a system running systemd results in this:

  sudo mount --move test test2
mount: wrong fs type, bad option, bad superblock on /media/test,
missing codepage or helper program, or other error
In some cases useful info is found in syslog - try
 dmesg | tail or so

Apparently this has something to do with "MS_REC|MS_SHARED" and can be
disabled on a per-filesystem basis with "mount --make-private /", for
example. This may change behavior for other systems (such as containers)
which assume it is not marked private...

A quick workaround is to use "mount --bind" instead of "mount --move",
but this has the undesired side-effect of leaving two mounts in place,
one in /tmp/.USERNAME-ltspfs/MOUNT and one in /media/USERNAME/MOUNT.
Though some brief experiments show that unmounting the /tmp mount left
the /media mount in place when i tried it... that might make it a viable
workaround.

Honestly, I'd rather figure out a way to safely mount the ltspfs mount
directly without "mount --move". We could have a setuid wrapper that instead
creates the mountpoint directly as /media/USERNAME/MOUNT and ensures it
actually mounts, and some way of ensuring that it unmounts and removes
the /media/USERNAME/MOUNT directory when done... possibly with a
mount.helper and/or umount.helper.

Hi. Can you provide more details for this BTS report? Did fping fail to

the fact? Was the machine running low on memory? Did it have much load?
How did you call fping (which arguments)? In short, how can the issue you

Why do you believe this is a bug in fping and not the kernel?

I don't see any change in the man page. It still has:

-F, --fixed-strings
Interpret PATTERN as a list of fixed strings, separated by
newlines, any of which is to be matched. (-F is specified by
POSIX.)

-x, --line-regexp
Select only those matches that exactly match the whole line.

Paul Wise pointed me at http://community.libelektra.org/wp/?p=145 and
http://community.libelektra.org/wp/?p=153 which in turn brought
me back to this email.

A few comments:
1/ your mail doesn't contain any help offer to bring the patch to a
state where it can be merged so it was not obvious that you were
willing to invest time into improving it
2/ your mail was not very well formatted (a single line) and it's easy
to miss it in the flow of mails
3/ you need to seek the input of Guillem Jover who is the main dpkg
developer and who already reviewed earlier attempts to bring this
   feature
4/ yes we are interested in the feature but dpkg is an important piece of
software and we must get it right from the start, so extra caution is
   always a good idea

With a few more researches, you could have found our wiki page
https://wiki.debian.org/Teams/Dpkg
which then links to
https://wiki.debian.org/Teams/Dpkg/Proposals/ConffileDatabase
which contains the most recent attempt to bring this feature
to Dpkg. Sean Finney was working on this but unfortunately
he lost motivation due to lack of review by Guillem. Fortunately Guillem
is much more responsive nowadays so you might have more luck
to bring it to a mergeable state.

Actually, it was likely fixed in this one, which is in 2.9:

# HG changeset patch

record: use "ui.extractchoices()" to get the list of available responses

Before this patch, record extension gets the list of available
responses from online help document of "hg record" in the tricky way,
even though the value passed to "ui.promptchoice()" has enough (maybe
i18n-ed) information.

This patch uses "ui.extractchoices()" to get the list of available
responses.

Bug#758087: ITP: python-xstatic-jasmine -- Jasmine JS XStatic support

2014-08-14 Thread Thomas Goirand
Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist
Owner: Thomas Goirand

* Package name: python-xstatic-jasmine
  Version : 1.3.1.1
  Upstream Author : Radomir Dopieralski
* URL : https://github.com/stackforge/xstatic-jasmine
* License : Expat
  Programming Lang: Python
Description : Jasmine JS XStatic support

Maybe there will be optional XStatic extensions
for all sorts of stuff, but they won't be required if you just want the files.
 .
By having static files in packages, it is also easier to build virtual envs,
support linux/bsd/... distribution package maintainers and even windows
 installs using the same mechanism.
 .
This package provides Jasmine JS support as a Python module.

Can you please try if increasing MaxMemFree to a larger value fixes your
problem, too? 2048 (KB) is the default.

I don't want to disable --enable-mmap-allocator because then httpd has
problems giving back memory to the kernel due to fragmentation, and memory
use increases significantly.

Fine for me, sorry if I suggested something you did not liked.

What about "our" (in terms of a team) patches? I wonder why you come up
with the idea of applying "own" patches. I have addressed some
issues[1] in the packaging which are not addressed since >1 year as far
as I can see and without testing the package should generate several
lintian warnings. This is plain Debian packaging stuff and IMHO it
would be rather sensible if people who are admitting to have no time
would give people free hands to work on such open issues. If something
might happen against your intention (you have proven an impressively
quick response time with your current answer) it is quite simple to
revert.

I understand working in a team that anybody can bring things forward. I
consider it bad leading if you stop people from working in advance
instead of inspecting their commits and tweak (rewert?) if needed. Your
lose / win terminology implies a conflict / fight which I fail to see
and my experience has shown that it brings things forward if you
encourage people to do something.

Kind regards

 Andreas.

Sigh #748671, another forgotten bug.. the CVE is of low importance
though, and is not blocking.

Apart from the libsasl2-modules-ldap demotion everything else should be
in 1.11.5.1-1/2 already. The new upstream version was released because
of the samba issue Stephane reported.

btw, the FTBFS's seem to be caused by timeouts, one build can succeed
fine and the next fails with 1-3 failures..
