Bug#764472: cups creates millions of temporary files when printing
Il 09/10/2014 13:20, Brian Potkin ha scritto: Antonio, Please don't forget to Cc the bug report. I'v bounced your previous two mails there so there is no need to do anything about those. Sorry. On Thu 09 Oct 2014 at 11:05:44 +0200, Antonio Sartori wrote: Hello Brian, Some additional information: The links are created when printing with evince, but not when printing with lp. (Actually, printing with evince produces blank pages, but I don't know whether this is related - maybe it's a problem of my pdf file.) The links continue to be created after the print command from evince has been given (about 50 links per minute). During this, a process uses most of the cpu, and it is /usr/bin/python /usr/share/system-config-printer/scp-dbus-service.py Killing this process, the creation of symlinks stops. So I guess this is what creates this lot of symlinks. I am not quite sure now whether this is a bug of evince, or of system-config-printer or something else. Nice progress. I'm thinking that your report should be reassigned to system-config-printer and merged with #764253: https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=764253 Yes, I think it is the same problem. But before doing so let us see if we can give the maintainers there some help. Acroread is non-running but I'd be happier if it were not around. Please would you purge it from the system and try a print or two. From evince is one obvious application. Iceweasel uses the same GTK print dialog so it too would be suitable. I uninstalled acroread, and the problem disappeared. I installed it again, and still I wasn't able to reproduce the bug. So I'm not sure whether it depends on acroread. I tried to print various things on different printers from various applications, but I haven't been able to reproduce the problem. I'll keep an eye on it and see if this happens again. The other is that packages which have been updated but switched to a dependency on python-wxgtk3.0|python-wxgtk2.8 are still listed as bad. The result of these is that the tracker no longer presents useful information - most of the listed packages are actually fixed already, but several packages needing attention aren't listed. AFAICS out of the 7 packages that are still marked as bad, there is only one false positive: gnumed-client. I have updated the tracker with your proposed new one and it shows the same packages except for gnumed-client, which is now marked as good (note however that it has wx2.8 as the first alternative so you may want to file a bug about that). Let me know if the tracker needs further changes. Emilio -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. Trouble? Bug#751780: transition: libstdc++6 unordered_{map,set} ABI changes between GCC 4.8/4.9 in c++11 mode
On 16/06/14 17:02, Matthias Klose wrote: Package: release.debian.org Severity: important Tags: sid jessie This change mentioned in the GCC 4.9 news: Improved support for C++11, including: The associative containers in map and set and the unordered associative containers in unordered_map and unordered_set meet the allocator-aware container requirements is an ABI incompatible change in the unordered_{map,set} classes built in c++11 mode. The libstdc++6 library itself is not affected, so instead of having a libstdc++6 transition, all packages providing a library built in c++11 mode and using the unordered_{map,set} classes should be transitioned (changing the name of the library package). A grep of all sources for #include *unordered_{map,set}, and then searching in the log files for usage of -std=c++{0x,11} did show the following packages building library packages (for packages not having verbose build logs I had to look into the source package): bobcat 3.22.00-1 c++-annotations 9.9.1-2 capnproto 0.4.0-1 condor 8.0.6~dfsg.1-1 liblo 0.28-3 mrpt 1:1.0.2-1 qtbase-opensource-src-gles 5.2.1+dfsg-1 rapicorn 13.07.0~ds0-1 shogun 3.2.0-2 tesseract 3.03.03-1 zeroc-ice 3.5.1-6 For those transitions should be considered. Bug#740087: python-efl on mentors
Hi, Quoting Yann Dirson (2014-10-09 23:29:13) README.Source should give the URL for the git repo. A quick search on enlightenment.org did not allow me to find it (!), so I was not been able to verify the source. good point! I added that. Also, since this release does not come out of download.enlightenment.org, the Source: field is probably not adequate. I changed it to the git url and added a note. debian/patches/cython-version-comparison.patch would benefit from a short explanation about why this patch is needed (I assume it is because of the cython snapshot packaging). But I wrote the reason in the Description field: Otherwise versions like 0.20.1post0 cannot be parsed. I fixed the first two issues and re-uploaded the version to mentors. If you can tell me how the description of the patch is not clear, I'll add a clarification. cheers, josch -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. But I don't want to maintain this package on the long run, so I hope to find someone interested in taking over.I'll continue maintaining until then, however. So, if you are a cosmologist, or if you have other interests in this package: please consider maintaining it. It is also under Debian Astronomy Team Maintenance. Splash (formerly SUPERSPHPLOT) is a visualisation tool for output from (astrophysical) simulations using the Smoothed Particle Hydrodynamics (SPH) method in one, two and three dimensions. It is written in Fortran 90 and can utilise the PGPLOT graphics subroutine library to do the actual plotting. It is based around a command-line menu structure but utilises the interactive capabilities of PGPLOT to manipulate data interactively in the plotting window. Bug#758788: [pkg-cryptsetup-devel] Bug#758788: cryptsetup: Passphrase caching broken in decrypt_keyctl
Hi Jonas, Le 09/10/2014 10:39, Jonas Meurer a écrit : Hey Luc, Am 09.10.2014 um 09:54 schrieb luc: Am 03.10.2014 um 21:55 schrieb Jonas Meurer: Did you find time to do the additional testing/debugging yet? I'd like to fix this bug in time for Debian Jessie, provided that it's really a bug in the package and not an issue on your side ;) Not yet, but I intend to do so. The problem occurs on a computer with some critical information on it, and the partitions already use the full disk space. This implies I have to do some careful work of shrinking filesystems, logical volumes and so on before I can set up a test partition aside. I see. But you don't need to resize your filesystems or go through similar hassle. Simply use file containers for testing. The following commands should setup a testing environment (use carefully, even though I tested them): # dd if=/dev/urandom of=/cont1 bs=1M count=3 # dd if=/dev/urandom of=/cont2 bs=1M count=3 # echo testpw | cryptsetup luksFormat /cont1 # echo testpw | cryptsetup luksFormat /cont2 # echo cont1_crypt /cont1 pw1 luks,keyscript=decrypt_keyctl \ /etc/crypttab # echo cont2_crypt /cont1 pw1 luks,keyscript=decrypt_keyctl \ /etc/crypttab # cryptdisks_start cont1_crypt # cryptdisks_start cont2_crypt On the first invocation (for cont1_crypt), I got this dialog: root@marislae:~# cryptdisks_start cont1_crypt [[] Starting crypto disk...[info] cont1_crypt (starting)... Caching passphrase for /cont1: ** keyctl_set_timeout: Permission denied Error setting timeout on key (2524288), removing Caching passphrase for /cont1: ** keyctl_set_timeout: Permission denied Error setting timeout on key (612589418), removing [Here I pressed ctrl-C to stop the attempts] Caching passphrase for /cont1: Erreur de lecture de la phrase secrète. I was running the commands from root. I initially logged in to the computer from SSH to a regular user, than did sudo -i to get root access if this matters. As I suspected this may be a problem, I allowed root direct SSH access and tried again, login directly to root account, this time it worked: root@marislae:~# cryptdisks_start cont1_crypt [] Starting crypto disk...[info] cont1_crypt (starting)... Caching passphrase for /cont1: ** [ ok _crypt (started)...done. root@marislae:~# cryptdisks_start cont2_crypt [] Starting crypto disk...[info] cont2_crypt (starting)... Using cached passphrase for /cont2. [ ok _crypt (started)...done. root@marislae:~# The /dev/mapper/cont1_crypt and /dev/mapper/cont2_crypt did appear correctly. Is there a way I could check the keyring just after boot, before it is cleared? I could probably set an independent init script to run after disks are mounted to dump the list of the keys in the keyring to some file in /tmp so I can retrieve them once the system is up and debug. I thing I could do this using some keyctl command, but don't know which one to use for a given entry in /etc/crypttab. Should it be simply keyctl list pw1 in the case of your example or something else? I saw in the decrypt_keyctl script some cryptkey-$1 identifier (probably used with an _ appended). How could I use this? best regards Luc As already mentioned - up to now I'm unable to reproduce the bug. For me, decrypt_keyctl works in all tested setups. The provided passphrase is stored in kernel keyring with first invokation and used for all the following device unlockings that have the same keyscript/keyname configured. I understand your point. It is difficult to debug here (as mentioned earlier putting some echo commands completely trashed the boot sequence). I'll do my best. I'm sorry that I brought you in troubles here. The echo command was untested and I at least should have written that. It was meant for debugging purposes only but it completely broke the keyscript. I'll try to not make such premature requests again :-/ Cheers, jonas I test the decrypt_keyctl script with the following setup, and it works as expected. Maybe you could try a similar setup: - create two small lvm logical volumes (5MB are more than enough) - luksformat both logical volumes - add them to your crypttab: clv1_crypt /dev/VG/LV1 testkey1 luks,keyscript=decrypt_keyctl clv2_crypt /dev/VG/LV2 testkey1 luks,keyscript=decrypt_keyctl - try unlocking them via cryptdisks_start: # cryptdisks_start clv1_crypt # cryptdisks_start clv2_crypt The second unlocking should use the key cached during first unlocking. It would be awesome if you could test this. I as well tested this setup during boot process, and it works as expected as well. Also tested with UUID instead of source device path in crypttab, same result. I've no glue what's different on your setups, and any help with debugging would be highly appreciated. In case that you still encounter the bug, please paste your full /etc/fstab and /etc/crypttab again. /etc/crypttab: sdb1_crypt

Bug#576184: ITP: jidanni -- a natural intelligence to find many bugs
reopen 576184 owner 576184 ba...@debian.org stop Hi pabs, I see you gave up on this ITP on 31 Aug 2012. Do you mind that I take over this ITP ? It's a promising piece of software we should definately consider packaging in Debian. There is however still quite some work on this software, and unfortunately my attempts to contact upstream on making the software conform to Debian standards haven't been very successful so far. My preliminary tests were quite disappointing. At times the software more behaves like a random number generator, even a very pseudo one. For example it mixes experimental and unstable, which makes this software definately rc-buggy for now. So a first upload would certainly go in experimental, not in unstable. Thanks for your extensive analysis of the software on this ITP, which is a good jump-start for me to make myself familiar with this software. I see that you've already spent quite some effort on this software, so your expertise may be useful for getting the software ready for Debian, and maintaining it afterwards, so here's my question : are you interested in co-maintaining this package ? No hard feelings if the answer is no, because I fully understand that there are limits to a person's time and interest. Bug#764688: goocanvas: Bring goocanvas 2.x to Debian sid
Source: goocanvas Severity: wishlist I would like to have goocanvas 2.x in Debian sid, I need it for ocrfeeder 0.8. At the moment there are packages of Goocanvas 2.0.2 in experimental, they have been there for a while and I tested them with ocrfeeder. I think they can be moved to sid without changes, however since there are many other packages that depend on the older versions of goocanvas, both versions must be kept, so a different source package name should be used for the new version. What's the opinion of the maintainers about this? Bug#759079: [pkg-x2go-devel] Bug#759079: Bug#759079: pyhoca-gui: patch for wxPython 3.0
Hi Mike, On Tue, Sep 30, 2014 at 01:11:42PM +, Mike Gabriel wrote: I fixed the issue upstream [1]. Thanks for your input on this. I will release pyhoca-gui 0.5.0.0 upstream ASAP. I noticed the dependencies of pyhoca-gui on wx are rather odd - it depends on python-wxtools and wx-common, but not python-wxgtk2.8 or python-wxgtk3.0. Since the code does import wx, I think it really ought to explicitly depend on python-wxgtk3.0 (at least once it's updated for 3.0). If that's done, then the dependency on python-wxtools appears to be unnecessary (I can't find any uses of any of the tools actually in that package in pyhoca-gui), and depending directly on wx-common is unlikely to be necessary (again, pyhoca-gui doesn't seem to use anything from that package). So in summary, my suggestion would be that the only wx-related dependency should be on python-wxgtk3.0. Bug#752872: libapr1: file locking is broken, leading to file corruption in e.g. libapache2-mod-auth-cas session files
Hi, Stefan: Thanks for your time investigating this bug. Op Sat, Aug 16, 2014 at 09:55:11PM +0200 schreef Stefan Fritsch: On Friday 27 June 2014 11:37:18, Joost van Baal-Ilić wrote: While libapr1 defaults to fcntl() locking it also supports flock(), which does not have the problems outlined above. A patch is attached which makes libapr1 use flock() even if fcntl() locking is available. flock does not support locking on NFS (at least according to its man page), while fcntl does. I am undecided which is worse. Since there does not seem to be a good solution, I am downgrading the severity of this bug. The default behavior for Linux NFS clients is to convert flock() calls into fcntl(). See nfs(5), in particular the local_lock option (the default for that option is ‘none’). To summarize: - fcntl() locking is broken for everyone (even if you're using a non-threaded mpm you will still run into problems if you open the locked file twice); - flock() is broken only for people using NFS (rare) AND a non-Linux kernel (very rare, in Debian at least). Therefore the proposed solution is good, imho. Leaving severity to your judgement, nevertheless. Bye, Joost signature.asc Description: Digital signature

Alternatively, a rescheduling of the auto-removal of lava-server and django-openid-auth to a date after the expected migration into testing would work too. Bug#751636: openssh-server: ssh sessions are not cleanly termined on shutdown/restart with systemd
Hi, I had the same issue under Debian Wheezy with systemd 204-14~bpo70+1 As systemd is in constant development and Jessie is currently running version 215-5+b1 it maybe resolved in more recent versions than 204-14. The solution provided under https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=626477 suggests to killall ssh sessions, when stopping sshd. I prefer to have at least one ssh session open to my server when restarting ssh, if something goes wrong. Therefore I added a service, to solve this under the current Debian Wheezy version I am running. /etc/systemd/system/ssh-user-sessions.service: [Unit] Description=Shutdown all ssh sessions before network After=network.target [Service] TimeoutStartSec=0 Type=oneshot RemainAfterExit=yes ExecStart=/bin/true ExecStop=/usr/bin/killall sshd When starting, this service does simply nothing (/bin/true). But due to the statement After=network.target it kills all ssh processes before shutting down the network. Works for me :-) Cheers Tom
Bug#761267: tzdata must be updated till 26 October
Accepting tzdata 2014h-0wheezy1 solves issue only for wheezy, however the problem is still relevant for squeeze.
Bug#716841: character escaping of templates (bug 716841)
Hi all, The logic to dbconfig-generate-include in the dbconfig-common source is slightly flawed [1] in the sense that it escapes all variable depending on the language in case the dbconfig-common templates are used, but forgets to do this language specific when a package template is used. As I don't think there is a watertight check possible to determine what language the variables should be escaped for (and e.g. in case of php/sh it also depends on how the strings are quoted (' vs )) I propose to extend the format from template to template | phptemplate | shtemplate | perltemplate | cpptemplate and use the right escape algorithm depending on the selected format. I propose to keep template as-is but let it generate a warning. Objections? Other ideas or solutions? Bug#720517: file ownership and perms managed by dbconfig-common (bug 720517)
Hi dbconfig-common-devel followers, You may have noticed that I have been discussing behavior of dbconfig-common on debian-devel [1] related to bug 720517 [2]. I want to solve the bug, but I am unsure on how to handle the situation. So lets discuss the issue: dbconfig-common can receive the request from a package to set ownership/perms for a configuration file it manages (via dbc_generate_include_owner and dbc_generate_include_perms). The problem is that dbconfig-common does not know if this request from the package to set ownership and perms is the result of default package behavior, or after consulting the admin about what they want. Now comes the problem: dbconfig-common should set these ownership/perms when the admin has asked for it, but should respect current ownership/perms if the requested ownership/perms are just a default from the package (as per Policy). Any ideas how to solve this? Investigate all packages to check for their behavior (does any package query the admin about this?)? If no package is actively setting this, I believe we can change the behavior of dbconfig-common to only change the ownership/perms on creation, but ignore it during update. Of course documentation needs to be updated to reflect this if we go that way. If at least one package queries the admin, I don't see a generic solution except for agreeing on desired behavior and filing bugs against the packages that don't match that behavior. The relevant scripts in the dbconfig-common source are: dpkg/common dbconfig-generate-include Paul [1] https://lists.debian.org/debian-devel/2014/10/msg00084.html [2] https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=720517 signature.asc Description: OpenPGP digital signature

Bug#749659: audacity: Systematic check for Printf/Format mismatches
El 09/10/14 a les 01:11, Benjamin Drung ha escrit: Your patch needs to be forward ported, We already have a patch that fixes 2.0.6 for wxWidgets 3.0. Back when you asked me to forward-port my patch to the current svn head (in order to get the changes into upstream), I did. Apart from the porting it includes specific fixes for svn head. Fortunately, 2.0.6 isn't that different from what was svn head back then, so we have a patch for 2.0.6, find it attached. To keep it small, I've removed everything that isn't relevant here (fixes of dead code or code that otherwise isn't relevant on Debian), but we will have that available for upstream. Be aware that this patch is by far not as well tested as my patch for 2.0.5! [...] backport the preliminary upstream changes for wxWidgets 3.0.1 from r13403 [...] [...] Upstream want to get wx3.0 support in for 2.0.7 and is actively working on getting it in the svn Actively working, yes, unfortunately. Why? Your messages sounded like upstream was aware of this being resolved already, especially with you being part of upstream (AFAIK). Not only was this a major duplication of effort, but now it also requires additional porting - which is mainly manual work here, given that different people have been working on similar issues and touching the same code, but in different ways. What we're doing here is really inefficient. So you could provide the missing bits and we will get upstream to test your proposed changes (when I commit them to the upstream repository). So you're proposing to do the upstream integration first? I'd do it the other way round, given that for 2.0.6 we already have a patch and that the upstream integration has just gotten more complicated. We've already lost a lot of time. And before we just upload stuff to upstream, I'd also like to discuss the upstream integration with the person that has been working on wx3.0 there, especially as he has been fixing some code that I consider obsolete with wx3.0 and that I'd like to fix some things in a different way. Cheers, Martin Description: Compile audacity against wxWidgets 3.0 Solved compilation issues: (1.) Allow wxWidgets 3.0 in various configure scripts. (2.) The file dialog was derived from an internal wx class that disappeared in wx3.0 (discussed in further detail below). (3.) In several places the types in interfaces changed between wxChar* and wxString. I've tried to modify the code so it works with both interfaces (thanks to implicit conversion; may look a bit weird in some places). (4.) Calls to wxTheApp-SuspendIdleCallback() are no longer supported. They were part of a workaround for a clipboard problem, which fortunately doesn't seem to be there any longer in wx3.0, so I deactivated it for wx3.0. (5.) AddPendingEvent() and ProcessEvent() now have the visibility protected in wxWindow. It has always been a bad idea to call them directly on a wxWindow object, but now it's explicitly forbidden. Instead, those functions should be called on the object returned by GetEventHandler(). (6.) The class wxStandardPaths is now a singleton and has to be treated as such (no more explicit constructor calls). (7.) wxLogWarning is a macro now, so the :: prefix doesn't work on it anymore. (8.) Several int types (which were actually used as enums) are now real enum types (e.g. wxRasterOperationMode, wxMouseButton) and have to be used as such. (9.) Apart from the FD constants (which have been fixed in Olly's patch already) there are some other constants which have received a prefix (e.g. wx* - wxFONTFAMILY_*, wx* - wxFONTSTYLE_*, wx* - wxFONTWEIGHT_*). (10.) Signature changes in constructors of wxFlexGridSizer and wxIcon and wxSizeEvent (11.) Missing includes (missing header files were probably included indirectly in wx2.8 by chance) (12.) When deriving from the abstract class wxGridTableBase, different methods have to be implemented with wx3.0 (EndEdit with new signature and ApplyEdit) than before with wx2.8 (only EndEdit with old signature). Now both versions are implemented in parallel in the classes TimeEditor and ChoiceEditor (one version essentially being a wrapper of the other one). Solved runtime issues: (1.) Segmentation fault: The LadspaEffectDialog receives EVT_TEXT events before it's properly initialized. To prevent this, a workaround was already in place, but was only active on Windows. It looks like this happens now on more platforms (including GTK). As the workaround doesn't do any harm, even if activated unnecessarily, I've simply activated it for all environments. (2.) GTK critical warning IA__gtk_range_set_range: assertion 'min max' failed because of negative numbers as result of window size checking. Added a sanity check that straightens up the numbers in edge cases. (3.) GTK critical warning IA__gdk_window_get_origin: assertion 'GDK_IS_WINDOW (window)' failed: Received events of type wxSizeEvent on the main project

It involves patching /etc/acpi/powerbtn-acpi-support.sh (I use acpid/acpi-support-base for power events) and adding aliases for 'shutdown' and 'reboot': http://www.schreyben.de/Systemd_Haengende_SSH-Verbindungen_beim_Neustart Also seems to work well so far. Bug#763219: zeitgeist needs valadoc with vala 0.26 support.
Hi Sebastian! On Fri, Oct 10, 2014 at 03:37:00AM +0200, Sebastian Reichel wrote: I just uploaded valadoc 0.23.2~git20140902-2, which should include support for vala 0.26. Thanks for the quick upload! Would also appreciate if you'd drop the vala 0.24 support so we can get rid of the old vala. (The two remaining users are valadoc and valabind. And if both can drop vala 0.24 dependency before the freeze we can probably get down to shipping only 1 vala with jessie, instead of the current 3.) Bug#764697: systemd: enable ipv6 by default at least for lo
Package: systemd Version: 215-5+b1 Severity: wishlist Dear Maintainer, currently in /etc/sysctl.d/99-sysctl.conf provided by the systemd package ipv6 seems to be disabled by default i.e. net.ipv6.conf.all.disable_ipv6 = 1 net.ipv6.conf.default.disable_ipv6 = 1 net.ipv6.conf.lo.disable_ipv6 = 1 net.ipv6.conf.eth0.disable_ipv6 = 1 This breaks cups: #747073. For me net.ipv6.conf.all.disable_ipv6 = 0 net.ipv6.conf.default.disable_ipv6 = 0 net.ipv6.conf.lo.disable_ipv6 = 0 made cups start again properly. many thanks Gert -- Package-specific info: -- System Information: Debian Release: jessie/sid APT prefers testing APT policy: (990, 'testing'), (500, 'unstable'), (200, 'experimental') Architecture: amd64 (x86_64) Foreign Architectures: i386 Kernel: Linux 3.16-2-amd64 (SMP w/6 CPU cores) Locale: LANG=C, LC_CTYPE=C (charmap=ANSI_X3.4-1968) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/dash Versions of packages systemd depends on: ii acl 2.2.52-2 ii adduser 3.113+nmu3 ii initscripts 2.88dsf-53.4 ii libacl1 2.2.52-2 ii libaudit1 1:2.4-1 ii libblkid1 2.20.1-5.11 ii libc6 2.19-11 ii libcap2 1:2.24-6 ii libcap2-bin 1:2.24-6 ii libcryptsetup42:1.6.6-1 ii libgcrypt20 1.6.2-3 ii libkmod2 18-3 ii liblzma5 5.1.1alpha+20120614-2 ii libpam0g 1.1.8-3.1 ii libselinux1 2.3-2 ii libsystemd0 215-5+b1 ii openrc [sysv-rc] 0.12.4+20131230-9 ii udev 215-5+b1 ii util-linux2.20.1-5.11 Versions of packages systemd recommends: ii dbus1.8.8-1+b1 ii libpam-systemd 215-5+b1 Versions of packages systemd suggests: pn systemd-ui none -- no debconf information signature.asc Description: This is a digitally signed message part

Bug#763843: RFA: mathjax -- JavaScript display engine for LaTeX and MathML

I would like the new maintainer to make sure the fonts are properly rebuilt from sources (using MathJax-dev scripts), a task that I started but never finished (because things became much complicated on upstream side). Binary packages built from mathjax source are: libjs-mathjax fonts-mathjax fonts-mathjax-extras The package description is: MathJax was designed with the goal of consolidating the recent advances in web technologies into a single, definitive, math-on-the-web platform supporting the major browsers and operating systems. . It requires no setup on the part of the user (no plugins to download or software to install), so the page author can write web documents that include mathematics and be confident that users will be able to view it naturally and easily. Simply include MathJax and some mathematics in a web page, and MathJax will do the rest. -- Dmitry Shachnev -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. This might be a regression from recent util-linux, or some misconfiguration, or incompatibility with extlinux, not sure. fsck.ext4 definitively exists (i. e. e2fsprogs is installed), and /dev/vda1 also exists; it's also apparently able to map the root UUID to /dev/vda1. I also tried with --grub; image generation succeeds and it says Configuring grub2 Installing extlinux Cleaning up at the end, but booting in qemu doesn't work at all (there's not a single message). That's a different bug/report, but I wanted to mention it. I see the same fsck problems with extlinux but with a test using grub, I get grub loading properly and then the same fsck error causing a retry. (I do get a Segment violation just before the retry) sudo vmdebootstrap --image sid2.img --distribution=sid --owner=neil --verbose --grub I'm not sure what is going wrong here, wheezy images work fine. Mounting the image using an offset works fine and fsck from outside the KVM using kpartx and /dev/mapper/loop1p1 works without errors too. I'm not sure this is a bug in vmdebootstrap. A test with Jessie and grub works: sudo vmdebootstrap --image jessie.img --distribution=jessie --owner=neil --verbose --grub That uses util-linux 2.20.1-5.11 I'm going to pull the package list out of the working jessie and diff against the broken sid... -- Neil Williams = http://www.linux.codehelp.co.uk/ signature.asc Description: PGP signature
