I'm not entirely sure what has triggered this issue in the beginning but
I'm glad that it could be resolved for you. I keep this bug report open
a little while longer in case someone has a similar problem. Perhaps we
can find out more about it then. If nobody else is affected, I will
close this bug in the future though.

Bug#805903: linux-image-4.2.0-1-amd64: USB ExpressCard makes kworker process utilise 72% CPU infinitely

Hey.

This is originall from http://article.gmane.org/gmane.linux.kernel/2090843:

I bough a USB3.0 ExpressCard from StarTech[0] which is apparently[1]

Now the problem is that immediately when I attach the card, a kworker
process starts to utilise the CPU to always around 72%.
And it never stops again until I shutdown; removing the card doesn't
help.

Any ideas?

Thanks,
Chris.

Bug#787505: libnss3: NSS 3.19.1 breaks icedove IMAPS to server with DH 786 temp key

2015-11-23 Thread Jean-Christophe Dubacq
Package: libnss3
Followup-For: Bug #787505

I was bitten by this also. My imapd server was a rather dull courier-imap-ssl
server, and the DH key length was left as is since its installation (probably
etch). My config file was mostly untouched, and no warning came.

I followed the procedure here :
http://apple.stackexchange.com/questions/206448/imap-account-stopped-working-after-upgrade-to-ios-9-problem-with-cacert-certif?answertab=active#tab-top

and it worked fine.

Bug#805288: nano: syntax highlighting for nftables rulesets

2015-11-23 Thread Benno Schulenberg

Hi Arturo,

Thanks for that file.

Two things:

When you use [[:space:]], a preceding \> or following \< are
not needed. But... is a terminating space really required?
May a line not end in a \ -- a continuation backslash?

In the header line, there is a superfluous pair of parentheses.
You might even write it as:

header "^#!.*nft(ables)"

Well, it depends. The m4-doc package exist to satisfy the policy rule
saying the manual should be available in HTML form in "some" binary
package (which does not need to be the main package), but in fact
there is nothing in the HTML manual which is not already in the info
manual (which is included in the normal "m4" package).

So, in your opinion, do you still think that a Suggests: m4-doc
would be useful?

Bug#349413: aptitude: format string %t is not coherent with what is displayed in dependency solver

Control: tags -1 + pending

Hi Pierre,

2006-01-22 21:06 Pierre THIERRY:

Package: aptitude
Version: 0.4.1-1
Severity: minor

In the dependency solver (a great enhancement of aptitude!), when a
package version is the one installed, it is shown as coming from 'now'.
But the %t in a format string for the package display doesn't shwo
anything from packages only available locally. 'now' would be useful and
coherent at this point.

Thanks for the suggestion, this has been implemented and will be present
in the next release, marking as +pending.

This has been fixed in 2.4.16-1 in testing

Updating conffiles in stable is problematic, though. It requires human
intervention when the file has been changed locally by the admin.
Since the issue is only minor, we won't fix it in stable.

Thanks for your report, but unfortunately it's not clear to me what the
problem is. The undefined reference to pthread_create is a linker error, but
pthread_create is, or at least should be, available in the pthread
library. But in order to make this available the compilations should use
-pthread, which bobcat's building process does. Maybe you can provide some
additional clarifications?

I'll answer this first, as it was quicker to test.

I've tried the following debian-packaged kernels:

  $ dpkg -l 'linux-image*' | grep ^ii
  ii linux-image-3.16.0-4-amd643.16.7-ckt11-1 amd64Linux 3.16 for
64-bit PCs
  ii linux-image-4.1.0-2-amd64 4.1.6-1amd64Linux 4.1 for
64-bit PCs
  ii linux-image-4.2.0-1-amd64 4.2.6-1amd64Linux 4.2 for
64-bit PCs
  ii linux-image-4.3.0-trunk-amd64 4.3-1~exp1 amd64Linux 4.3 for
64-bit PCs

Results:

- work: 3.16.7, 4.1.6
- don't work: 4.2.6, 4.3

As an additional data point, before your mail I already had installed
all kernels above except 4.3, which I just installed from experimental.

It seems to me that: (a) it's due to something fairly recent and that is
still lingering around in 4.3; (b) it is not something transient --- in
particular I was thinking at something weird that might have happened
one off with the initram creation just for 4.2, but that doesn't seem
the case.

I'll follow-up in separate mail providing the other debug information
you've asked. It might take a couple of days though, as I'm currently
traveling.

Thanks for your help!
Cheers.

Bug-Debian: https://bugs.debian.org/805224
Forwarded: https://github.com/wking/rss2email/pull/72

If a configuration file already exists, "r2e new" will overwrite it.
This was reported in the following bug report:

https://bugs.debian.org/805224

This adds a check when running "r2e new" that will exit if the configuration
file already exists.

Bug#804183: upgrade to 1.10.4-1 creates circular inclusion

2015-11-23 Thread Brent S. Elmer Ph.D.
I just installed 1.10.4-1 and the circular inclusion came back.

Setting up dbus (1.10.4-1) ...
A reboot is required to replace the running dbus-daemon.
Please reboot the system when convenient.
Error org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.Failed: Circular inclusion of file
'/etc/dbus-1/system.conf.dpkg-bak'
Setting up dbus-x11 (1.10.4-1) ...

My system may have been in an odd state due to this bug causing the
1.10.4-1 upgrade to perpetuate the circular dependency.  How do I get
my system to a good state again?  Just upgrading to 1.10.4-1 does not
fix the circular dependency for me.

Help please.

The uninstallable build dependencies were caused by altree build
depending on libmath-tamuanova-perl which depends on libtamuanova-0.2,
and that pulls in libgsl0ldbl (>= 1.9).

With tamuanova (0.2-3) rebuilt against libgsl2, the altree build
dependencies can be installed and altree (1.3.1-2) builds successfully
with libgsl2.

Kind Regards,

I don't have any strong opinion on this choice. It's used to render
characters in i18n of the GUI and I kept using the Droid font because this
was/is the one upstream provided as per-default.

If you tell me that fonts-droid-fallback will stay in the archives for some
(long) time, then it could be a good alternative.

Otherwise, DejaVu is good as well.

Bug#760608: aptitude: No format string for package architecture

2015-11-23 Thread Manuel A. Fernandez Montecelo

Control: tags -1 + moreinfo
Control: retitle -1 aptitude: No format string (%-escape) for package
architecture

Hi Rogier,

2014-09-06 00:07 Rogier:

Package: aptitude
Version: 0.6.11-1
Severity: wishlist

Dear Maintainer,

With the advent of multi-arch systems, the architecture of a
package shown by aptitude is no longer implicitly known. Please
add a format string for a package's architecture.

The %p one ("package name") shows for quite a while now also the
architecture for foreign packages, in the form of "libc6:sparc" vs
"libc6" for the native architecture.

It would be nice in a way to have a escape for architecture, but the
number of one-letter escapes is almost exhausted [1], and in particular
all of the "obvious" choices like %a %A %r %R are taken, and we have
quite a few requests to add fields like this yet (and for things that
don't have any alternative, like "source" or "origin").

Unless we start to use unusual characters or multiple letters, I am not
sure if this is possible to implement.

It needs more consideration, thus the +moreinfo.

Hi Martin, thanks for the patch! I forwarded it upstream and will

I've patched it in the repository. I'll upload it with the next

Hi Santiago,

I am preparing an update of cloud-init that will correct the problem. Since we
usually generate Stable images with a backport of cloud-init, I think that we
do not need a stable update. You (and others) are much welcome prepare one if
you think the contrary, but my experience with the Stable release team is that
they are so overloaded that there are often multiple weeks of delay for getting
answers from them, so I would not bother them with a non-critical issue.

Bug#793863: Add new package f2fs-tools-dev for external development use

2015-11-23 Thread 殷啟聰
Hi Vincent,

There are several reasons that dh-exec does simplify things,
especially when we are maintaining a package that produces multiple
binary packages:

  1. If you don't write *.install files, debhelper will install all
files under debian/tmp to the binary package with the same name of the
source package, i.e. "f2fs-tools".
  2. Without *.install or without specifying the install destination
in *.install, debhelper will try to guess what is the destination. The
way it uses is simply using the path text after "debian/tmp", so
either you don't use a *.install or the ${DEB_HOST_MULTIARCH} variable
must show up in the *.install files.
  3. All control files e.g. *.install can't use variables unless with
the support of dh-exec.
  4. One way to dropping the variables is to use wildcards, thus
"debian/tmp/${x86_64-linux-gnu}/libf2fs.so" can become
"debian/tmp/*/libf2fs.so", but seems wildcards don't work with
autodest because it failes on my machine.
  5. Even if wildcard + autodest works and we can get rid of dh-exec,
please look at f2fs-libs-dev.install and you can know we are
installing some files not under debian/tmp, whose install destinations
can't be guessed by dh_install, and we can't specify files with and
without install destination in a same *.install file.

So why not use dh-exec to make life simpler?

By the way I don't have access to collab-maint team, that's why I have
been posting patches rather than committing changes to SVN. Therefore
I can't be the co-maintainer for now although I wish to give a hand.
And I don't actually know what name should be given for the new binary
packages, can you think of better ones? :)

Regards,
Kai-Chung Yan

I have forwarded your idea upstream.

Bug#805851: linux: 4.2.6 panics on dreamplug (kirkwood)

2015-11-23 Thread Mattia Dongili
Source: linux
Version: 4.2.6-1

Hello,

To be fair, this is probably the tip of the iceberg since my unbootable
dreamplug went through an upgrade from wheezy to stretch and an u-boot
upgrade too. In any case, u-boot seems functional at the moment and I
will only be able to check the OS upgrade once I boot into it.

So, here's the boot and panic message:

An italian translation of it, which can be inserted as the second

I'm not in the translation team (and I don't plan to join it, sorry :)
); I believe I've followed the main style indications, but I may have
lost some point; probably a review from the team would be good.

I'll look at the things listed under "Get involved" on

0?

Just thinking: AIUI reproducibility builders tinker with times etc.
Does it perhaps interpose glibc's clock_gettime() to make it return
1970-01-01 00:00? That could be the trigger of a bug.

I haven't tried again, but it wasn't working in August 2015, and
the only change that was done since is:

  * Support newer python-urwid (Closes: #800693)

But as I've said, I don't see this as a wicd issue. If something
needs to be done, it is rather on the DHCP client side.

I built an interposing library myself, which produced the 0, but not the

Could you also post the head of testlog0.txt?

Bug#805596: dnsmasq: Fails to resolve cloudflare.com domains with dnssec

2015-11-23 Thread Norbert Summer
Thank you for you fast response.

Sounds like it isn't fixable in jessie :/.

I solved the problem with apt pinning for me.
It isn't the nicest solution but it works.

I don't think so many people uses DNSSEC
but I think it would be good to have a warning in the config file that
ECDSA isn't supported with the current dnsmasq version.
So people know that they should not us it or update to a newer version.

Regards
Norbert

You can use fonts-droid-fallback, its not yet uploaded but it has
DroidSansMono as is.

I think you can wait till we upload fonts-droid-fallback, and then
depend on it instead of fonts-droid. Let me know what you think of
this.

Hi Adam,

I've sent hints to the BTS to let it know that 1:11.0.0-3 has the fix. I
should have done it earlier indeed.

Can I upload the update in Stable?

Bug#773245: git-p4 package in contrib, how to proceed?

2015-11-23 Thread Luke Diamand
Hi!

(Resurrecting ancient thread)

Has this moved on any further? I couldn't see any sign that there's
now a git-p4 package, or any discussion saying that it can't go ahead
for some other reason. Has it just been forgotten about?

Thanks

Bug#805861: identical directories listed in Preferences

2015-11-23 Thread 積丹尼 Dan Jacobson
Package: midori
Version: 0.5.11-2
Severity: minor

Here we see two identically named directories:
No amount of mouseover will reveal which is where.
One surely is /tmp, the other surely /var/tmp, but there is no way for
the user to tell which is which.
Note vanilla midori does not look like this.
It is only after it remembers some directories that you used before,
does it get this way.

Bug#805862: linux-image-4.2.0-0.bpo.1-amd64: ThinkPad Ultra Dock no sound over hdmi or displayport if Kernel > 3.16 (Notebook X250)

2015-11-23 Thread mobitux
Package: src:linux

Severity: normal

* What exactly did you do (or not do) that was effective (or
 ineffective)?

My Dockingstation is connected via HDMI or Displayport to a Philips
TV.
If I start Debian 8 with Kernel 3.16 sound over HDMI works.
If I start Debian 8 with Kernel > 3.16 sound over HDMI doesn't work.

I tried also Ubuntu 15.10 and Fedora 23 with the same result.

pavucontrol shows me, that all HDMI/DisplayPort Ports are unplugged

  Notebook: Thinkpad X250
Dockingstation: Thinkpad Ultra Dock with 135Watt power supply

I have backported these patches to 2.21. Unfortunately they now cause
nptl/tst-cancel24-static to fail on at least armhf, armel, mips and
mipsel. The binary segfaults.

According to the wiki [1], the failure seems to be a known issue
in the 2.22 release, though its cause was marked as unknown. Do you know
by chance if the problem has been fixed or addressed in the meantime?

Thanks,
Aurelien

Bug#805868: cssh is breaking if ctrl-q is sent to all terminals

Hash: SHA512

Package: clusterssh
Version: 4.04.01-1

ctrl-s/ctrl-q is a very common used key sequence especially in remote
terminals to stop and start terminal output.

With the latest version, ctrl-q is crashing cssh completely! Even worse,
error code of cssh is 0.

This was working in earlier versions. As it is a very important key
stroke, I set this to important.

Please consult the team to get a review:

https://www.debian.org/international/Italian

> I'll look at the things listed under "Get involved" on
> https://wiki.debian.org/Teams/Mirrors

I think the main thing that needs doing is building a new mirrors team
as the current one is mostly inactive or MIA, apart from Donald, who
is not yet a Debian member.

After that; unifying the two mirror checkers (httpredir.d.o and
mirror.d.o) and automating most of the steps in the process of adding
new mirrors, checking them and getting them used as possible
(including automating ftp.*.d.o DNS). Users often ask for https
support, making httpredir DTRT with https would be nice too, even if
it isn't a big security advantage.

sucessfully elsewhere). This failure also looks similar to the FTBFS of
3.4.7-1 in experimental.

Hi all,

we have two issues:

 a) we forgot to enable systemd targets in the package, and
 b) broken LSB headers cause dysfunctions.

I will not work on b) because my time is limited and I have no interest in
learning
how LSB headers work now that our default init system is systemd.

Solving a) in Stable would solve b), and I understand that the release team is
nervous with such a change and that therefore it will not happen that way.
However, I think that it is useful to separate the two issues in the BTS so
that at least a) can be marked closed in Unstable at the next upload.

I welcome anybody to solve b) properly and prepare a Stable update; this would
be a great help, because I have much less free time than when I started to
package cloud-init. In the meantime, given the absence of volunteers, I will
close the request for update (#789214), where communication is anyway broken.

Have a nice day,

Bug#720707: state of RFP: grml-zsh-config?

2015-11-23 Thread Thomas Koch
Hi Axel,

sorry, I wanted to ask you on Saturday: What's the state of the grml-zsh-config
packaging for Debian? Could you provide a braindrop of the problems you're
aware of and what discussions have happened?

I've to set up ZSH on two new machines and would like to use this occasion to
take over this package if it makes sense.

Dear François,

You are right, I did not integrate the NMU changes into Tiger's GIT
repository and forgot to include them in yesterday's upload. I will
integrate them and send a new version (-14) of the package fixing the bug.
Sorry for the mistake

I have this package installed:
ii busybox-cvs-static 20040623-1 i386
Standalone rescue shell with tons of builtin utilities

It seems to be from "sarge" (Debian 3.1).
It is a very old installation which is upgraded from version to version.

I will remove this package and install a recent one ...

That was my impression too, but it does not seem to be working, at
least on Debian. Perhaps the Debian KDE Team (CCed) can confirm if it
is supposed to work with KDE5/Qt5, or not.

Bug#805865: Typo in powerbtn.sh

2015-11-23 Thread Maxim Reznik
Package: acpid

Version: 1:2.0.25-1

There are next lines in powerbtn.sh

PMS="$PMS guidance-power-manager.py dalston-power-applet"
if pidof x $PMS > /dev/null; then

It's obvious last line should be "if pidof -x $PMS..." because
$PMS contains guidance-power-manager.py which is a script
and -x option of pidof means

-x Scripts too - this causes the program to also return
process id's of shells running the named scripts.

Somebody missed dash('-') before 'x'

So this bug finally led to libstoragemgmt's removal from the archive.

This is still not a bug in libstoragemgmt. If you trigger a build now,
it will build successfully.

Can you please try verify that, and then close this bug report ?

Bug#805869: filezilla: FTBFS on hurd-i386

Source: filezilla
Version: 3.12.0.2-1
Severity: important
Tags: patch
Usertags: hurd
User: debian-h...@lists.debian.org

Hello,

filezilla FTBFS on GNU/Hurd since 3.9.0.5-1. This is due to the usage
of PIPE_BUF in the putty code, not defined on Hurd. The attached patch
fixes this problem by defining it to_POSIX_PIPE_BUF when not defined.

This patch is the same as for putty 0.66-1, see #805505

According to https://packages.qa.debian.org/f/filezilla.html filezilla
has been removed from testing. However, the bugs for
mips/mipsel/powerpc in #797228 have already been back-ported from
upstream, see Message #17 on that bug.

Additionally: a new upstream version is already available: 3.14.1

Bug#801166: unattended-upgrades: General update after the debconf review process

2015-11-23 Thread Christian PERRIER
Dear Debian maintainer,

On Monday, October 12, 2015, I sent you a notification about the beginning of a
review
action on debconf templates for unattended-upgrades.

Then, I sent you a bug report with rewritten templates and announcing
the beginning of the second phase of this action: call for translation
updates.

Translators have been working hard and here is now the result of their efforts.

Please consider using it EVEN if you committed files to your
development tree as long as they were reported.

The attached tarball contains:

- debian/changelog with the list of changes
- debian/control with rewrites of packages' descriptions
- debian/ with all the rewritten templates file(s)
- debian/po/*.po with all PO files (existing ones and new ones)

As said, please use *at least* the PO files as provided here,
preferrably over those sent by translators in their bug reports. All
of them have been checked and reformatted. In some cases, formatting
errors have been corrected.

The patch.rfr file contains a patch for the templates and control
file(s) alone.

Please note that this patch applies to the templates and control
file(s) of your package as of Monday, October 12, 2015. If your package was
updated
in the meantime, I may have updated my reference copybut I also
may have missed that. This is indeed why I suggested you do not
modified such files while the review process was running,
remember..:-)

It is now safe to upload a new package version with these changes.

Please notify me of your intents with regards to this.

There is of course no hurry to update your package but feel free to
contact me in case you would need sponsoring or any other action to
fix this.

Bug#805291: preseed: Offer a way to override initrd-level preseeding with kernel command line preseeding

So I did that and you can have a try on that ISO image for example:
http://archive.kali.org/kali-daily-images/kali-linux-light-rolling-amd64.iso

(it's a live image so uses live-installer too)

It seems to work fine (no other regression detected in normal install) and
I confirm that I can override the configuration set in the initrd with the
kernel command line.

Here's the .dsc of preseed:
http://http.kali.org/pool/main/p/preseed/preseed_1.68+kali1.dsc

I just swapped the order of S30env-preseed and S35initrd-preseed.

Is there anything in particular that I should test before committing
the change?

In Debian we don't use initrd preseeding AFAIK so it can't break anything
directly. But it should probably be documented somewhere so that
(downstream) users are aware of the change. I propose to commit this
in the d-i manual at the same time:

An important difference between the preseeding methods is the point at which
the preconfiguration file is loaded and processed. For initrd preseeding
this is right at the start of the installation, before the first question is

+even asked. Preseeding from the kernel command line happens just after. It is
+thus possible to override configuration set in the initrd by editing the kernel
+command line (either in the bootloader configuration or manually at boot time

Can I go ahead ?

Dear Maintainer(s),

the library depends on libjpeg8 now and not on libjpeg62-turbo as the
version before. What is the reason for that? A comment in the changelog
would be nice.

2015-11-23 Thread SOUBEYRAND Yann - externe
Package: sponsorship-requests
Severity: normal

Dear mentors,

I made a package for mdadm containing a patch to fix bug #784070
(https://bugs.debian.org/784070) and I'm looking for a sponsor to upload
it as it is a rather annoying bug.

The old package maintainer (Michael Tokarev) confirmed the source of the
problem (https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=784070#49)
and several users confirmed that the patch fixes the bug. Moreover, the
new package maintainer (Dimitri John Ledkov, CC of this mail) agreed
with this solution and gave me his consent to proceed with the upload
(https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=784070#230).

To access further information about this package, please visit the
following URL:

  http://mentors.debian.net/package/mdadm

Alternatively, one can download the package with dget using this
command:

  dget -x http://mentors.debian.net/debian/pool/main/m/mdadm/mdadm_3.3.4-1.1.dsc

Since that d-d discussion did not bring any new concern, so we'd like

After a look in the wheezy source, the "$off" variable is not reset in

There are no other QNAM-relaed patches in upstream qtbase 5.5 branch.

The existing patches I backported definitely improve the situation — at least
one of them is also cherry-picked in Ubuntu, and is fixing a bug there.

If you point us to any other patches we can apply — we will happily do that.

Bug#805876: libclass-accessor-chained-perl: FTBFS with perl 5.22: missing dependency on Module::Build

2015-11-23 Thread Dominic Hargreaves
Source: libclass-accessor-chained-perl
Version: 0.01.1~debian-3
Severity: serious
Justification: will FTBFS with upcoming transition
User: debian-p...@lists.debian.org
Usertags: perl-5.22-transition
Tags: sid stretch

This package FTBFS with perl 5.22, which is in experimental and due
to transition to unstable soon:

perl Build.PL --installdirs vendor --config "optimize=-g -O2 -fstack-pro
tector-strong -Wformat -Werror=format-security -D_FORTIFY_SOURCE=2" --config "ld

curity -Wl,-z,relro"
Can't locate Module/Build.pm in @INC (you may need to install the Module::Build
module) (@INC contains: /etc/perl /usr/local/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/perl/5.22.0 /u

BEGIN failed--compilation aborted at Build.PL line 2.
dh_auto_configure: perl Build.PL --installdirs vendor --config optimize=-g -O2
-fstack-protector-strong -Wformat -Werror=format-security -D_FORTIFY_SOURCE=2
--config ld=x86_64-linux-gnu-gcc -g -O2 -fstack-protector-strong -Wformat
-Werror=format-security -Wl,-z,relro returned exit code 2

The problem is solved by build-depending on libmodule-build-perl
(which used to be bundled with perl until 5.22).

Cheers,
Dominic.

Bug#805877: virtualenvwrapper: Annoying warning -bash: virtualenv_deactivate: command not found

2015-11-23 Thread Sergey B Kirpichev
Package: virtualenvwrapper
Version: 4.3.1-2
Severity: minor

Steps to reproduce:

$ workon test # no warnings, ok
$ virtualenv_deactivate
$ workon test # second time in _same_ shell session
-bash: virtualenv_deactivate: command not found # boo!

Exclude this warning, everything seems to be working well,
just as first activation of the virtual enveronment "test".

I have just tried to build master and the problem is also there, so the
answer is likely no.
