Bug#774744: ITP: obs -- Open Broadcast Software

2015-12-14 Thread Carl Fürstenberg
Hello,

Back in February, I got som IRL issues, and frankly forgot about this; I've
no issue with having it under the multimedia team umbrella; I've uploaded
the code I made back then to https://github.com/azatoth/obs-studio and
rebased it only latest release; feel free to move it to DMT:s git repo if
you want to use this base.

Regards,

Carl

g-d-p on your system is somehow trying to produce a .deb of around 10
gigabytes. I wonder how? doom3-data is "only" 1.5 gigabytes here, and
because g-d-p checksums every file, you shouldn't see any difference,
apart from small optional documentation files appearing or disappearing:

Similarly, your Quake 4 ends up at 20 gigabytes, which is weird, because
I get less than 3:

Was this done on the correct system? You mentioned 1.18.3 on your other
bug report, and 1.17.25 is stable's version of dpkg, whereas the rest of
your packages seem to be from testing/unstable.

Bug#721976: Roots trusted for email but not TLS

2015-12-14 Thread Andrew Ayer
Hi Michael,

Have you given any more thought to a redesign of ca-certificates that
separates the email certificates from the TLS certificates? I suspect
that the vast majority of packages that depend on ca-certificates use
it for TLS server auth, and yet there are currently 21 roots in the NSS
store that are trusted for email but distrusted for TLS server auth:

 1 AC Ra\xC3\xADz Certic\xC3\xA1mara S.A.
 2 ComSign CA
 3 Equifax Secure CA (1024-bit)
4 Equifax Secure Global eBusiness CA (1024-bit)
 5 Equifax Secure eBusiness CA 1 (1024-bit)
 6 NetLock Business (1024-bit)
 7 NetLock Express (1024-bit)
 8 NetLock Qualified
9 S-TRUST Authentication and Encryption Root CA 2005 PN
10 S-TRUST Universal Root CA
11 Sonera Class 1 Root CA
12 SwissSign Platinum CA - G2
13 TC TrustCenter Class 3 CA II
14 UTN USERFirst Email Root CA
15 Verisign Class 1 Public Primary Certification Authority (1024-bit)
16 Verisign Class 1 Public Primary Certification Authority - G2 (1024-bit)
17 Verisign Class 1 Public Primary Certification Authority - G3
18 Verisign Class 2 Public Primary Certification Authority - G2 (1024-bit)
19 Verisign Class 2 Public Primary Certification Authority - G3
20 Verisign Class 3 Public Primary Certification Authority (1024-bit)
(non-BR-compliant)
21 Verisign Class 3 Public Primary Certification Authority - G2 (1024-bit)

Ten of these are 1024-bit RSA roots. Over the past year, Mozilla has
been removing the TLS trust bit from 1024-bit roots, and at long last
the NSS root store no longer contains any 1024-bit roots trusted for
TLS. Unfortunately, Debian applications continue to trust them for TLS.
This reduces the security of TLS authentication down to the cost of
factoring just one of these 1024-bit roots. It would be great to bring
the security level of Debian's root store up to 2048 bits for TLS.

In addition, the "Verisign Class 3 Public Primary Certification
Authority" root (owned by Symantec) is still trusted despite its TLS
trust bit being removed in NSS. As of December 1, 2015, this root is
being used to issue certificates that don't comply with the Baseline
Requirements:

https://googleonlinesecurity.blogspot.com/2015/12/proactive-measures-in-digital.html

As such, this root should be distrusted ASAP.

As always, let me know if you could use any help. I'm going to start
looking through the reverse depends for ca-certificates to identify
packages that might be relying on roots for email authentication.

Thanks,
Andrew

Bug#807976: appstream puts garbage on aptitude screen

Hmm, not sure what to do here: I left the generator print a message
about the cache on purpose, so we can see that people have AppStream
enabled and spot bugs or performance issues with it easily, especially
since AppStream is new to Debian.
So, I could make AppStream quiet here, effectively hiding that it is
active from all users, or aptitude could be changed to not break the
UI if additional messages appear.
IMHO the latter should be done regardless of whether AppStream shows
messages or not, since basically anything can insert messages there,
so this could break more often in future.

Cheers,
Matthias

Thijs and/or Raphael. Please, hold until some additional changes can be
committed to include 2.6.

NSS released 2.6 while working on 2.5, essentially, Andrew.

Bug#807984: xfce4-sensors-plugin: Sensors plugin crashes when using hard disk monitoring with setuid hddtemp

2015-12-14 Thread oldtechaa
Package: xfce4-sensors-plugin
Version: 1.2.5-2
Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,

The xfce sensors plugin crashes and leaves the panel when hard disk monitoring
is enabled on Jessie. In order to use hard disk monitoring, I obviously had to
setuid hddtemp. I know the setuid hddtemp issue has been corrected in the newer
version, but I have reasons not to update, and I don't know if that would fix
the problem. I can post a log (that doesn't tell much) if you like, and can
give the information about the hard disks I'm using. Without hard disk sensors
displaying, it works fine.

Bug#721976: Roots trusted for email but not TLS

It wouldn't be a question of HTTPS connections, but rather TLS
connections to IMAP, POP, and SMTP servers, which most MUAs will make.
MUAs that implement S/MIME should use separate trust stores for TLS and
S/MIME (or have some other way to distinguish between roots) and MUAs
that don't are buggy. I would be interested in patching such MUAs,
although this would be a long-term effort.

Fortunately, there is a simple short-term solution that could be
implemented immediately and would provide a security improvement to the
majority of Debian users without removing any functionality: ship the
email-only roots in a separate package. I suspect that only a small
minority of Debian users use S/MIME, whereas a large majority of users
use wget, curl, git, etc. with HTTPS, or MUAs with secure SMTP/IMAP/POP
(but not S/MIME). The minority can install the S/MIME roots and have
the same security and functionality as now, while the majority
will benefit from better security. Is this an acceptable solution
pending a long-term effort to assess and improve trust store handling
in MUAs?

Andrew

Bug#807980: libevdocument3-4: Fails to install without specifying an error

Hi Michael,

I'm curious why the 2.6 update wasn't included with the 20151204
release.

I've been told that one of the roots that was removed in the 2.6 update
is going to be used by the CA to issue certificates that violate the
Baseline Requirements[1]. It would be nice for Debian to stop trusting
it before the CA starts doing this.

Thanks,
Andrew

[1] This root is in addition to the Symantec root I mentioned in
#721976. Indeed, multiple CAs are doing this, which underscores the
need for timely root store updates.

Got patches for all the mail-related rdeps of ca-certificates? :-)

I have not gone through every rdep package to cound, but there are quite
a few mail-related pacakges, so they should each have some new
filesystem location to search for mail-specific CA certificates.

Exactly. I also do not know if pointing mail-related CAs to another
filesystem location and patching mail-related packages to look there is
sufficient - are there mail clients/utilities that also open https web urls?

Bug#807852: aptitude fails when home dir does not exist (sbuild)

Control: tags -1 + pending

Hi,

2015-12-13 19:19 Vagrant Cascadian:

Package: aptitude
Version: 0.7.5-2
Severity: important

In a clean sid schroot, aptitude fails when the homedir doesn't exist:

# HOME=/nonexistant/ aptitude install bash
E: Could not create directory: /nonexistant//.cache: boost::filesystem::create_directory:
No such file or directory: "/nonexistant//.cache"

This causes sbuild with schroot to using the aptitude backend to fail,
as it sets HOME=/sbuild-nonexistent.

Thanks for the report.

This is fixed in VCS, to be released soon (either as a Debian revision
or as new upstream), so marking as +pending.

@Axel: if you are reading this and it becomes critical in the next few
days, when I might be slow to react, you can release at least a
Debian revision with the patch -- I think that it is safe.

No, some patches exist, but they have not been commited, so $ORIGIN is
not supported yet.

I'm also affected by this issue using cowbuilder 0.75. Updating to 0.76
did not fix it. This did:

sudo cowbuilder --login --save-after-login
# mkdir -p /home/hans/.cache

Here's the error:
Setting up pbuilder-satisfydepends-dummy (0.invalid.0) ...

To reproduce it, I did:

No. It's the "else" clause of the for loop:
https://docs.python.org/2/tutorial/controlflow.html#break-and-continue-statements-and-else-clauses-on-loops

It's executed only when we come out of the loop without having hit any
break.

But the else is gone with this syntax now.

Changed them to set() but we need two because we retain the name
associated to the email but for the duplicate check we want to check
only on the email.

Right, I added a bit of logic to ensure this is always the case.

Thanks for the review! An updated patch is attached.

Thorsten, can you do some tests with the updated patch?

Subject: [PATCH] Implement DInstall::UploadMailRecipients to control
 recipients of upload mails

This new setting lets you configure the list of recipients of upload
mails (Accepted/Rejected), you can mix harcoded emails and the special
keywords "maintainer", "changed_by" and "signer" which get replaced
by the corresponding address extracted from the upload data.

The goal is that the security archive only sends mails to the security
team and to the person who signed the upload to not leak any information
about embargoed uploads.

sh4 is one of my pet architectures. I will have a look and report back
later. I still need to set up the four more additional buildds to
speed up the build process similar to m68k. Hopefully I can do that
today, I still had to spend lots of time into getting ghc fixed
on sparc64 :).

Bug#763822: simple next step for getting .buildinfo files into Debian

2015-12-14 Thread Holger Levsen
Hi ftp folks,

while we still appreciate your comments on this proposal as last week
described in https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=763822 I'd like
to make a intermediate very simple proposal, so that reproducible builds in
Debian get one step forward:

- modify dak, so that it will not rejects uploads with a .buildinfo file
included.
- still, for now, throw the .buildinfo file immediatly away.
- only do this for experimental at the beginning. (maybe this restriction is
not even needed/useful.)

That's it.

This would allow the dpkg maintainers to enable .buildinfo file creation, at
least for builds for experimental.

What do you think?

As I see it, this should be a rather trivial code change for dak and yet bring
us forward quite enourmously. Also it should be rather uncontroversial as we
all agreed in Heidelberg at DebConf15 that we want .buildinfo files in Debian…

cheers,
Holger

Bug#746268: gdcm: hundreds of "sh: 1: dot: not found" messages

2015-12-14 Thread Gert Wollny
There are actually two alternatives to fix this bug on the upstream
side:

* Either convert the .dox files actual man pages and then use these
directly (i.e, no longer invoking doxygen to create them). Since man
pages are actually text files this would be also a proper source
format to apply changes.

* Or create two different doxygen files: one for creating the man pages
only, and another one to create the reference documentation and handle
these accordingly.

Best,

Bug#807911: bzflag-server: bzfs always launched on boot; RUN_AT_STARTUP setting ignored

2015-12-14 Thread Thorsten Bonow
Package: bzflag-server

Dear Maintainer,

it is not possible to start a bzfs server from within BZFlag because
there is one already running, launched during startup. Default setting
'RUN_AT_STARTUP="no"' in '/etc/default/bzflag' is ignored.

Manually stopping the server solves the problem. The systemd service
file has 'EnvironmentFile=-/etc/default/bzflag line, so the default
settings should be honoured.

Thx for packaging my favourite game.

Furthermore, I took care of doing the work out of the git repository, so

Well, I failed to configure this software, and after stumbling upon
the mentioned problems I decided that it's a piece of crap and installed
something else. And sorry, I don't feel obliged to write improvements to
its documentation under these circumstances.

And I don't really care, feel free to close.

Bug#807899: tasksel: prompts for CD/media with no 'cancel' option; ignores SIGINT/SIGTSTP, locks apt DB

2015-12-14 Thread Jonathan Dowland
Package: tasksel
Version: 3.31+deb8u1
Severity: normal

If you try to run tasksel on a machine which has removable media configured for
apt (such as a freshly installed system via CD-ROM/DVD) it's possible that
tasksel will prompt you to insert the media after selecting some tasks If you
can't do that for any reason, tasksel does not offer any way to cancel; it
loops between two screens with no way out. It also ignores SIGINT and SIGTSTP
and locks the apt database, so you can't easily update your sources.list in the
background. It would appear you need to issue a SIGTERM from another terminal,
adjust your sources.list and try again. This would be a problem in some
situations where you can't open a second terminal.

I am not sure what you exactly mean with "user" invoked.
Anyhow, /sbin/ makes sense because the intention of the dbginfo.sh
script is to collect system and debugging information. So it is
important to have it available early (even before /usr becomes
mounted).

I would also go further and would suggest to included it in the
s390-tools udeb package to be available in the debian installer
too. But I would have to check if it runs in the debian installer
environment. I could also imagine to integrate it into the
installation-report module.

Thanks and kind regards,

Bug#807896: kid3 does not substitute slashes when building filename

2015-12-14 Thread Francois Gouget
Package: kid3
Version: 3.3.0-1
Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,

Steps to reproduce this bug:
 * Start kid3 and load a set of tracks.
 * Go to Settings -> Configure Kid3... In Files, make sure that there is a rule
to replace '/' with '-' or add one.
 * Back to the main dialog, edit one of the titles so it includes a slash.
For instance "Noel Blanc / White Christmas".
 * Set the Format used to generate filenames to '%{title}' and click on the
appropriate button to update the filename from the id3 tags.
 * BUG: The filename should now read 'Noel Blanc - White Christmas.mp3", but
instead it is "Noel Blanc / White Christmas.mp3".
 * If you try to save the changes you get an error message saying the file is
no writable. That makes sense given that there is no "Noel Blanc " directory.

The workaround is to manually edit the filename and redo the save operation.

We don't have particular well tools for this, but I did the same dance
as the last time[1] to get the list of packages that build-depend on
ghc:

  zcat ftp/dists/unstable/main/source/Sources.gz | \
  grep-dctrl -e -ns Package -F Build-Depends '\' | \
  sort -u > ~/rm-haskell-armel-sources

The packages that dak's reverse-dependency check then complains about
are:

  dak rm -nR -p -B -a armel $(cat rm-haskell-armel-sources)
  [...]
  # Broken Depends:
  darcsweb: darcsweb
  fusionforge: fusionforge-plugin-scmdarcs
  ganeti: ganeti

  haskell-diagrams: libghc-diagrams-dev
libghc-diagrams-prof
  haskell-platform: haskell-platform
haskell-platform-prof
  m2l-pyqt: mediawiki2latexguipyqt

These are all arch:all, so breaking them should be okay. Note that
these become uninstallable and so do any armel packages that depend on
them (if such packages exist).

Not really. At least not AFAIK, and it'd be hackish and ugly if it was possible.
It'd be nice if the FTBFS got fixed instead. If it's too difficult to make it
build with GCC 5 (I guess it isn't, but...) then as a temporary workaround you
could make it build with GCC 4.9.

Please warn about the use of TEMP CVE identifiers in debian/changelog.
These identifiers are temporary and go away when CVEs are assigned so

The regex is TEMP-\d{7}-\d{6} (case sensitive):

I don't think this is the right regexp.

For example, this bug refers to "TEMP-000-1C4729", which your regexp

Hi,

We experienced dying rsyslogd processes. It seems to often be at
midnight, or shortly afterwards, when a lot of files are being created,
due to the dynamic naming of per-host/per-day files. We found upstream
commit [1] that matches our symptoms. After applying this patch,
rsyslogd has been running stable. So please apply this patch for jessie

this upstream commit is part of rsyslog 8.12.0.

Woops, I found the wrong code location!

The correct regex and code location:

TEMP-\d{7}-[A-Z\d]{6}

Yes. That's the best thing to do.

Or at least, install its binary and manpage in some other name such as
rupa-z or zjump. And add suggestion to make a short alias such as "z"
which does not conflict on the machine in its manpage and README.

So user can have a short name if he wishes but will not deprive others
to use z as alias.

This is a very simple package so maintaining patch is not too much of
burden.

Bug#807898: Jessie regression: mp4 playback in native firefox broken

2015-12-14 Thread Harald Dunkel
Package: gstreamer0.10-plugins-base
Version: 0.10.36-2

The upgrade from Wheezy to Jessie broke mp4 playback in
native Firefox 38.4esr (binary downloaded from
http://ftp.mozilla.org). If I rebuild Firefox from source
using gstreamer 0.10 on Wheezy it doesn't work on Jessie,
either. There is surely a regression here.

Building Firefox with gstreamer 1.0 on Jessie seems to work,
but for verification I am bound to upstream's binary blobs.
Its highly painful.

that is not a valid package name.

reportbug is right. As per Policy §5.6.1, package names “must be at
least two characters long”.

Are there any suggestions for this?

My suggestion is to ask upstream about their preference in alternative
names for "z".

And pandoc (which is getting removed) actually has reverse build-depends

 Build-Depends-Indep.)

And these have rdeps too:

build-depending on pandoc, or the packages could (maybe) not depend on
the package that got removed due to pandoc.

Bug#807670: closed by Ben Hutchings <b...@decadent.org.uk> (Re: Can't build linux-tools-4.2 package)

2015-12-14 Thread Alexey

I still think this is a bug in source package.
Your build log showed me nothing.
I have separate branches for debian folder and upstream sources and
building them with git-buildpackage command. And I think that you merged
debian and upstream branches that is the reason you have no trouble with
building linux-tools package.

It's ugly approach.

No regards.

* Package name: golang-github-mitchellh-panicwrap

  Upstream Author : Mitchell Hashimoto
* URL : https://github.com/mitchellh/panicwrap
* License : Expat
  Programming Lang: Go
Description : Go library for catching and handling panics

Panicwrap is a Go library that re-executes a Go binary and monitors stderr
output from the binary for
a panic. When it finds a panic, it executes a user-defined handler function.
Stdout, stderr, stdin, signals,
and exit codes continue to work as normal, making the existence of panicwrap
mostly invisible to the end
user until a panic actually occurs.

This is another requirement for Packer.

OK, but probably should add notes:

   forwarded bug address
Mark the bug as forwarded to the given address (usually an email
address or a URL for an upstream bug tracker).

Note - a second forward command will wipe out the original forward
address, not add to it.

   notforwarded bug
Mark a bug as not forwarded.

Note - actually just removes +forwarded status...

Dear Maintainer,

/etc/init.d/ocserv from package ocserv always try to use port 443, despite that
I have an /etc/ocserv/ocserv.conf file says otherwise

Start it manually will work:

/usr/sbin/ocserv --pid-file /var/run/ocserv.pid --config /etc/ocserv/ocserv.conf

But the init.d script doesn't. I failed to dig out why that init.d script always
tries to use port 443.

It took 9 minutes and 15 seconds on my machine.

   * What outcome did you expect instead?

It taking much less time. In fact, after doing some profiling and seeing that
CbfsFile was a hotspot, applying the following patch made the command take 80
seconds instead, most of which is spent bunzip2'ing the two archives
sequentially, and objdump --disassemble'ing libxul.so in the two archives in
parallel (so there could be a win with bunzip2'ing the two archives in
parallel, too).

Thanks for confirming.

The patch is in 2.5.0, released a week ago. So when the Debian
maintainer catches up and packages 2.5.0, it should work out of
the box.

(Your nftables.nanorc didn't make it into 2.5.0, because I forgot
to add it to the dist files. :| It will be in 2.5.1.)

I agree to removing adjtimexconfig from postinst, which takes 70
seconds during install, is a good idea.
But the defconf selection on enable/disable service is another issue.
Yes, without adjtimexconfig running on install implies the service is
disabled by default. But user need an easy way to enable adjtimex
service after adjtimexconfig running.
Do you think it's okay to run debconf to let user decide whether to
start the service after manually running adjtimexconf?

Thank you!

Sigh... sure, i'd be great. it's just that it took forever to pass new

but yeah, it would be the next step.

Bug#807945: keyboard-configuration skips prompts when using only bluetooth keyboard

2015-12-14 Thread bunnie
Package: keyboard-configuration
Version: 1.123
Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,

When configuring a system that uses only a bluetooth keyboard (no USB keyboard
directly attached), the function keyboard_present() in
keyboard-configuration.config
indicates that no keyboard is present, which prevents the keyboard
configuration UI
from ever running.

The work around was to plug in a USB keyboard temporarily while running
dpkg-reconfigure keyboard-configuration, so that the function would return
true.

It might be nice if the script could work with bluetooth keyboards, or perhaps
at least emit an error message to console indicating that no keyboard was
detected
therefore the configuration UI is being skipped. It took me a long time to
figure
out that's why the script wasn't working. This is in part because I spent a lot
of time trying to figure out the significance of these warnings, which I think
are harmless red herrings in the end:

# dpkg-reconfigure keyboard-configuration
update-rc.d: warning: start and stop actions are no longer supported; falling
back to defaults

thanks.

Bug#790392: unbound chroot accumulates old files

2015-12-14 Thread Simon Deziel
Hi Robert,

On 12/12/2015 05:08 PM, Robert Edmonds wrote:
> Hi, Simon:
>

Good point, this needs to be supported.

> What do you think of setting UNBOUND_CONF like this instead?
>
> CHROOT_DIR="$(unbound-checkconf -o chroot)"

I tried it initially but it doesn't work:

# unbound-checkconf -o chroot
[1450106598] unbound-checkconf[11733:0] fatal error: config file
/etc/unbound/unbound.conf is not inside chroot /var/lib/unbound

Yet the unbound.conf does exist in the chroot:

# ll /var/lib/unbound/etc/unbound/unbound.conf
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 2737 Nov 25 13:11
/var/lib/unbound/etc/unbound/unbound.conf

So this (bug?) requires to always pass the path to the chrooted config
file to unbound-checkconf when using a chroot.

# unbound-checkconf -o interface
[1450109011] unbound-checkconf[15475:0] fatal error: config file
/etc/unbound/unbound.conf is not inside chroot /var/lib/unbound

# unbound-checkconf /var/lib/unbound/etc/unbound/unbound.conf \
-o interface
127.0.0.1
::1

I've updated the patch to support setting the chroot anywhere in
unbound.conf, not just the main config file. Please let me know what you
think of the proposed workaround.

Simon

Bug#701656: cloning 701656 ..., reassign -1 to base-installer ...

2015-12-14 Thread Jonathan Dowland
Hi all, I hit this last week. I was doing an expert mode install of jessie onto
a PowerPC Mac Mini. I had a USB keyboard attached during install time and I did
not remove it. However, I was doing both an expert-mode install and using the
remote console via ssh feature of the installer (not sure if that has any
bearing).
I opted for targetted thinking "why not?" when asked by the installer.

Some notes, following up on a few points from the various threads for this bug

1) I saw some comment hoping this would be resolved in time for 7.0: sadly, it
wasn't, and is present in 8.0.

2) as mentioned above, the issue is not just whether given hardware is present
or not at kernel install time. My USB keyboard was attached, and yet
targetted
did not include the necessary drivers for boot-time passphrase entering.

I imagine that the targetted prompt doesn't show up for normal installs, but if
it does, I would suggest not showing it if the user has opted for an encrypted
disk during the partman stages.

Obviously the prompt will appear during expert-mode installs, so I'd echo some
of the previous comments that it should be re-worded. I'm not sure whether
different
wording could be offered depending on whether encryption was selected during the
partman stages?

I think there still remains an actual bug in the targetted module selection
logic relating to USB devices on the PowerPC Mac Mini.

Bug#807906: zsh-common: Command completion broken since aptitude 0.7.5

2015-12-14 Thread Micha Moskovic
Package: zsh-common
Version: 5.2-2
Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,

since updating aptitude to version 0.7.5-1, the command completion for aptitude
is broken.
Pressing tab after writing aptitude on the command line has the following
result:

$ aptitude
 -- no matches found --

while it would print the list of available commands in previous version of
aptitude.
Note that option completion ($ aptitude -) and package completion ($
aptitude install ) still work.
I believe that this is due to one of the following changes in aptitude 0.7.5-1
(from the changelog)

- User visible changes:
  * [cmdline] Minor improvements to help (Closes: #497136)
  * [cmdline] Hide Show-Why reasons when the string is empty
(Closes: #576584)
  * [cmdline] Slightly improve and reformat --help
  * [cmdline] Document add/remove-user-tag in --help

given that the output of 'aptitude -h' is parsed in order to provide the
command completions.
Line 83 of Completion/Debian/Command/_aptitude probably needs to be modified in
order to account for those recent changes in aptitude.

Hi,

it's the same whether I explicitly set the classpath to the local location
(shouldn't that be found automatically?) or a folder with the jars from your
site.

System jars:

$ java -jar /usr/share/plantuml/plantuml.jar -cp /usr/share/java/ -tpdf

Local jars, from the zip file:

$ java -jar /usr/share/plantuml/plantuml.jar -cp ./jars/ -tpdf
