Bug#619648: cron.daily doesn't execute scheduled scripts
Package: anacron Version: 2.3-39+b1 Followup-For: Bug #619648 X-Debbugs-Cc: vent...@debian.org Dear Maintainer, I can reproduce this issue. While scripts in my personal crontab that are run by cron are executed fine, the ones owned by anacron don't seem to be executed although the syslog suggests otherwise. For example, a line starting with @daily does not work (i.e. run by anacron) but when changing it to @hourly it does -- this time cron seems to take over. I wonder whether this is the same root cause as #1040452: glibc (>= 2.37-2) sometimes generating corrupted locale archives? That might explain why g_utf8_collate_key() would get nonsense results. Please try with glibc (>= 2.37-5) which fixes that bug, and maybe this one too. smcv -- Dr. Bastian Venthur https://venthur.de Debian Developer venthur at debian org

The rest of what you quoted is just fallout from this. Agreed. Since there was no upgrade in Gnome recently, I suspect that one of the dependencies got an upgrade. I do vaguely remember evolution, systemd and libc6 being the biggest updates today. Please check /var/log/apt for recent upgrades. Mesa is another possibility, and if you have any GNOME Shell extensions installed/enabled, so are those. I don´t have any shell extensions enabled. It would be useful to know whether a different user account on the same system shows the same issue (create a new one with adduser from a text-mode login if necessary) - that would narrow down whether this is triggered by some user-specific setting or whether it's a system-wide issue. gnome-shell is clearly not *completely* unusable on your system, because you say gdm3 is working, and the gdm3 UI is just gnome-shell in a special mode - but that special mode turns off a lot of code paths, including the whole application chooser, which seems to be involved in the crash. Done. I've created a new user and tried to login, with the same results. If you can get a core dump/backtrace from the crash (the syslog entries that you quoted include a Javascript-level backtrace, but not a C-level one) then that would probably also be useful information. Installing system-coredump and using `coredumpctl gdb` is usually the easiest way to get that, especially for components larger than a single application. I can try that, do you have a link with some tutorial on how to do that? Cheers, Bastian -- Dr. Bastian Venthur https://venthur.de Debian Developer venthur at debian org
Bug#1040297: gnome: Gnome fails to start on login and falls back to GDM3

Bug#1035736: neovim: Turning off the banner causes the cursor to flicker permanently and CPU usage goes up
I think it is related to wl-copy, which is installed and used on all my machines where this error occurs. More specifically, when browsing /tmp and turning off the banner, I can actually see folders like `wl-copy-buffer-X` appearing and disappearing in very quick succession. I suspect this is related to that buggy behavior. I've issued a bugreport upstream: https://github.com/neovim/neovim/issues/23650 with steps to reproduce: cd /tmp nvim --clean :set clipboard=unnamedplus :Explore # press 'I' to disable the banner in netrw can you try to reproduce it with these steps? This behavior is BTW also reproducible in vim. If this “nvim --clean” works fine, then I'd suggest looking through your config and “:scriptnames” to see what may be affecting it. Package: neovim Version: 0.7.2-7 Severity: normal X-Debbugs-Cc: vent...@debian.org Dear Maintainer, Turning off the netrw's banner (netrw-I), via g:netrw_banner and or by pressing "I" in the Explorer causes the cursor to flicker permanently and the CPU usage goes up to 50% or so. In the case of using the g:netrw_banner option, you have to open the Explorer first to make the effect visible. I don't use any plugins and my configuration is quite minimal. The effect does not happen in plain old vim. Bug#1028451: 2nd DisplayPort doesn't get video
Package: src:linux Version: 6.1.4-1 Followup-For: Bug #1028451 X-Debbugs-Cc: vent...@debian.org Dear Maintainer, I can confirm this bug on my Lenovo T14s with integrated AMD graphics. I have two monitors connected via docking station. One Display Port the other one via HDMI, since 6.1 only one of them shows active already after starting the boot process. Via Gnome's system settings, I can see that both monitors are there, I can however only ever activate one of them (if that makes sense). That is maybe the new bit of information from the original bugreport as that not only the 2nd DP is affected but the HDMI as well. On <= 6.0 this was never an issue. Please note that I'm currently running 6.0 in order to use both monitors. Since this upgrade also included the change from pipewire-media-session to wireplumber it might rather be related to that package. I noticed the /etc/pipewire/media-session.d/bluez-monitor.conf is not present but I'm not sure if it was, when pipewire-media-session was still installed, though. So what is the problem? The headset has two modes: A2DP which you use when you listen-only and the HSP/HFP mode which you need if you want to use the headphone's microphone. Pipewire was able to switch back and forth between the two modes automatically depending on whether a microphone input was requested by an application, however since the last update it does not anymore and I have to switch manually. Since development began in 2002, dlib has grown to include a wide variety of tools. In particular, it now contains software components for dealing with networking, threads, graphical user interfaces, data structures, linear algebra, machine learning, image processing, data mining, XML and text parsing, numerical optimization, Bayesian networks, and numerous other tasks. python-soapy (and SOAP in general for that matter) is quite a beast. Although it sounds a bit stupid, but if we don't find a suitable alternative, it might indeed be easier to convert the BTS' API to something more digestible. It would be preferable if the BTS would serve JSON instead of SOAP-XML. JSON could be parsed within Python w/o any external library. Bastian On 21.02.2014 20:33, Anders Jonsson wrote: Package: reportbug-ng Severity: minor Tags: patch Dear Maintainer, while looking at bug #586430 i found that the long text Using Reportbug-NG never got translated, no matter what. Looking at the code i noticed that this is because there is a trailing \ in src/rnghelpers.py that isn't present in the version between source tags in the .st files. Removing this char makes the strings identical and localization starts to work. The attached patch fixes the issue. Now one can run for example LANG=de_DE.UTF-8 reportbug-ng to get it in German. Bug#476106: byzanz: Please ship a .desktop file so that you show up on the menu

I guess the reply is far to late but nevertheless here are my thoughts on this bug report. Byzanz is implemented as a GNOME applet which actually means the only way to make it visible is to add the applet to the GNOME panel. I've described this procedure in the latest (still unreleased) version in README.Debian. At the moment byzanz isn't a graphical standalone application which you can launch from any kind of menu and where a .desktop file would be really useful indeed. I don't think this behaviour will change in the near future. Byzanz is an applet and a command line tool and the author of byzanz intends to keep it that simple. If this situation changed in the future i would add a .desktop file but for the moment i think this isn't necessary. Hence i set the severity of this bug to wishlist. Bug#668355: [PATCH] python-debianbts: Helping to update to packaging format 3.0

Cheers, Basti Am 11.04.2012 10:43, schrieb jari.aa...@cante.net: Package: python-debianbts Severity: wishlist Tags: patch Hi, The dpatch patch management system has been deprecated for some time. The Lintian currently flags use of dpatch packages as an error. The new 3.0 packaging format is an improved version which, among other things, contains patch management built-in. For more information, see: http://wiki.debian.org/Projects/DebSrc3.0 I had some free time; see attached patch to migrate to new package format. Note that all files in debian/patches/* are canocalized to *.patch. Let me know if there is anything that needs adjusting or if it is ok to upload this version in a NMU in case you are working on other issues needing attention. Bug#658392: [gnome-terminal] F10 opens context menu (shouldn't do anything)
Package: gnome-terminal Version: 3.2.1-2 Severity: normal Hi, since this morning, the gnome-terminal opens the context-menu of the terminal when pressing F10. I have configured the terminal to *not* show the menu when pressing F10 (the second option in the terminal's shortcuts configuration menu). When turning this option on, it will show the main menu of the terminal instead the context menu. In the context-menu case F10 is still forwarded to the application running in the terminal (e.g. midnight commander). The correct behavior should be that F10 does nothing when not configured to open the main menu, but forward F10 to the app running in the terminal.
