Bug#1043031: Probably not a bug in xserver-xorg

2023-08-10 Thread Benjamin Gufler
I found the external monitor working when booting
linux-image-6.3.0-2-amd64. It doesn't work with
linux-image-6.4.0-1-amd64 or linux-image-6.4.0-2-amd64.

So probably this bug should be reassigned to the kernel package

Bug#1043031: xserver-xorg: second monitor not working

2023-08-04 Thread Benjamin Gufler

Package: xserver-xorg
Version: 1:7.7+23
Severity: normal

Working on a thinkpad, external monitor (the dell monitor listed in
Xorg.0.log below) attached via docking station.

When booting, output up to and including grub is shown on the external
monitor. xrandr shows the connected monitor, but it can't be enabled.

Bug#902295: Fixed with 4.17.0-1

nvidia-kernel-dkms 390.67-3.

Bug#902295: linux-image-4.16.0-2-amd64: invalid opcode / general protection fault with nvidia graphics module

2018-06-24 Thread Benjamin Gufler

Package: src:linux
Version: 4.16.16-2
Severity: normal

Dear kernel maintainers,

with kernel 4.16.0-2-amd64, the nvidia module produces the following
errors. Screen remains blank instead of graphical login mask.
Same nvidia modules with kernel 4.16.0-1-amd64 works fine (which is why
I'm using that configuration for reporting the bug).

Bug#692008: ifupdown: Bugfix to 679549 breaks systems not using upstart

2012-11-01 Thread Benjamin Gufler
Package: ifupdown
Version: 0.7.3
Severity: grave
Justification: renders package unusable

Hi,

the modifications introduced to close bug 679549 don't work on systems
which don't use upstart, making it impossible to bring interfaces up or
down.

Could you please install the upstart hooks only if the system actually
uses upstart?

Thanks,
Benjamin

Bug#581937: inn2: nnrpd (still) missing SSL support

2010-05-17 Thread Benjamin Gufler
Package: inn2
Version: 2.5.2-1
Severity: important
Tags: squeeze sid

With the last package update, nnrpd-ssl was replaced by a symlink to
nnrpd. nnrpd is, however, missing SSL support:

$ /usr/lib/news/bin/nnrpd -S
/usr/lib/news/bin/nnrpd: invalid option -- 'S'
Usage error.

Cheers,
Benjamin

Bug#573261: cryptsetup: change of default cipher breaks systems

2010-03-09 Thread Benjamin Gufler
Package: cryptsetup
Version: 2:1.1.0~rc2-1
Severity: important

With the plain default cipher change from 1.1.0~rc2-1 to 1.1.0-1,
"starting" encrypted partitions with plain and default cipher will
fail. The package should at least give a warning when such a setup is
detected while upgrading.
Moreover, the Debian changelog just says "changed default to ...".
Naming the old default value would be extremely helpful.

Bug#528160: cherokee: Upgrade to 0.99.14-2 still fails silently

2009-05-11 Thread Benjamin Gufler
Package: cherokee
Version: 0.99.14-2
Severity: normal

I'm sorry, but the right-away fix doesn't seem to work for me. After
upgrading from 0.99.14-1+b1 to 0.99.14-2, there is again no trailing
newline in cherokee.conf, and the deamon again silently fails to
start.

2009-05-10 Thread Benjamin Gufler
Package: cherokee

Bug#524958: cherokee: Upgrade to 0.99.11-1 fails

2009-04-20 Thread Benjamin Gufler
Package: cherokee
Version: 0.99.11-1
Severity: important

Upgrading from 0.99.10-3 to 0.99.11-1 causes the server to silently not start
afterwards. When invoking "cherokee" from command line, this is the error
message:

# cherokee
rule_extensions.c:70: Rule prio=9 needs an 'extensions' property
Couldn't read the config file: /etc/cherokee/cherokee.conf

As with previous upgrades, purging the old package, then installing the new one
solves the problem - but the need to do so is starting to get boring...

2009-03-29 Thread Benjamin Gufler
Package: cryptsetup
Version: 2:1.0.6-7
Severity: important
Tags: patch

Cryptsetup for non-luks devices calls udev's vol_id to check for existing file

doesn't properly work.

The new message should presumably be incorporated in

Bug#459529: icedove: All http links are opened in browser

2008-01-06 Thread Benjamin Gufler
Package: icedove
Version: 2.0.0.9-2
Severity: normal

Since updating from 2.0.0.9-1 to 2.0.0.9-2, _every_ http link is opened
in the configured browser application, even rss feed articles (which
should be shown in the message pane, as before) and plugin update pages
(which shouldn't be shown at all).
I believe this was introduced with the bug fix 452882.

Bug#448586: "No such file or directory" misleading

I don't agree.

There is a directory named "/etc/fonts/conf.d/61-traditional.conf"? I
don't think so, at least not on your system, according to the above.

Background: Since there is no "61-traditional.conf" in
/etc/fonts/conf.d, who can tell whether that should be a file or a
directory (or a pipe, or a socket, or a device, or whatever else)? Thus
the general message.

2007-05-24 Thread Benjamin Gufler
Package: libldap2
Version: 2.1.30-13.3
Severity: grave
Justification: renders package unusable

We're using libldap2 in combination with kerberos for AD authentication
and authorization. Often, login, id lookups and samba fail due to an
assertion failure in liblber.

Here's the output of a failed call to id:
$ id
id: /tmp/buildd/openldap2-2.1.30/libraries/liblber/sockbuf.c:82:
ber_sockbuf_ctrl: Assertion `( (sb)->sb_opts.lbo_valid == 0x3 )' failed.

Samba crashes, the panic action script comes up with a stack trace:

Tried that, with as well as without the int10 module. It's always the

thanks for this suggestion. If I remove that line, I'm able to start the
X server using xserver-xorg-core 2:1.1.1-18, but not with 2:2.1.0-3.
However, what I get is not one screen next to the other as before, but a
cloned output (except for the mouse pointer, which is visible only on
one of the screens).

Ever since the update of xserver-xorg-core from 2:1.1.1-16 to

claiming two unavaialble modules, event and wfb (which is a sub-module

Bug#358752: linux-image-2.6.16-1-vserver-686: sendfile() does not work

2006-03-24 Thread Benjamin Gufler
Package: linux-image-2.6.16-1-vserver-686
Version: 2.6.16-2
Severity: normal

The sendfile() system call returns with a return value signalling success
(it returns the number of bytes it was requested to copy), but no data
is actually copied to the destination.
I recognized the same problem also in linux-image-2.6.16-1-vserver-k7,
but it seems to work fine in linux-image-2.6.16-1-k7.
