Bug#1029230: gdb: None of the gdb pretty printers are working

2023-01-20 Thread BogDan Vatra
Hi,

I just tested it again on another debian (sid) and this time it worked just
fine from the command line.
The problem seems to be when I'm using it from Qt Creator, which adds its
own pretty printers.
Please close this bug and I'll create another one for Qt Creator.

Cheers,
BogDan.

Bug#969203: Merging *-avr with existing binutils & gcc packages

Is there any reason why https://tracker.debian.org/pkg/gcc-12-cross-ports

produce gcc-avr avr-libc & binutils-avr packages?
Of course we still need to add a few dependencies (e.g. core-avr).

Bug#914283: [libboost-context-dev] Provide ucontext_t alternative build

2018-11-21 Thread Bogdan Vatra
Package: libboost-context-dev
Version: 1.67.0.1
Severity: normal

--- Please enter the report below this line. ---
Dear Maintainer,

  By default context boost uses fcontext_t, which makes address & thread
sanitizers unusable (strangely thread sanitizers used to work with boost 1.62,
but with 1.67 are unusable).
  It will be great if debian provides also an ucontext_t alternative build
(libboost-ucontext-dev ?) which replaces fcontext_t and enables the usage of
address & thread sanitizers.

I test it again with 1.67 and is working.
Will it be the default boost in buster ?
Will you consider to bump 1.68? As I mentioned in my previous comment, it
fixes some serious problems.

Cheers,
BogDan.

P.S. I tried to clone https://salsa.debian.org/debian/boost-defaults.git to
change it for 1.68 and to help your with a pach.
But I could not find any docs about how to use & build it.
Especially how to use "debian/create-boost-defaults-control.py".
Will be great if you can add a README.md/txt file to debian folder which
explains to begginers how to get started ;-).

Bug#913871: [libboost-coroutine-dev] Projects using libboost-coroutine2 fails to compile with g++8 and -std=gnu++17

2018-11-16 Thread Bogdan Vatra
According to https://www.boost.org/users/history/version_1_68_0.html it seems
1.68 has some fixes for context & coroutine2:

Context:
 #78: Linker error with context-impl=ucontext: multiple definition of
boost::context::detail::current_rec
Coroutine2:
 #14: crash while stack unwinding
 #20: failes to compile test in due to the error C2039 (looks similar with
what I enounter on linux)
[...]

IMHO Debian buster should use 1.68 ...

Cheers,

It seems there are some _win files in libsanitizer (check https://github.com/

I'll try to add --enable-libsanitizer to configure script to see if it's

I have whatever is in debian sid (which is 232-10).
As I said, moving back var folder fixed the problem for me ;-). If you want to
test it I can tell you how to reproduce it:
 - you'll need at least 2 partitions one for / and one for some data.
- install everything (but /home) into a single partition.
- mount the other partition to e.g. /mnt/sdb1
 - boot a live linux
 - move you /var folder to another partition into some folder (e.g.) /mnt/
sdb1/folder/var
 - symlink it to /var

Bug#851363: [steam] Add steamos-compositor

2017-01-14 Thread Bogdan Vatra
Package: steam
Version: 1.0.0.54-2
Severity: wishlist

--- Please enter the report below this line. ---

Dear Maintainer(s),

It will be great if Debian will add steamos-compositor (http://
repo.steamstatic.com/steamos/pool/main/s/steamos-compositor/).

Steamos-compositor comes with a xsession script, its own compositor which
makes the steam layer actually work (kde & gnome ones have quite a few
problems).

It seems the package just works, you probably just need to recompile it and
push it to debian repos. I've manually installed it from http://
repo.steamstatic.com/steamos/pool/main/s/steamos-compositor/steamos-
compositor_1.34+bsos1_amd64.deb, with no dependencies problem (I'm using
debian SID), and I could login, using sddm, into the new SteamOS xsession.
Steam started in bigpicture mode and everything just worked: games, streaming
and the steam overly ;-) !

Yours,
BogDan.

It is the same thing ... :
[...]
ExecStart=/usr/lib/rtkit/rtkit-daemon
[...]
Actually I was inspired from that file to exec "/usr/lib/rtkit/rtkit-daemon"
manually :).

It there any way to debug it ?

If I manually run "/usr/lib/rtkit/rtkit-daemon" it works just fine...
The only problem is when I start it with "systemctl start rtkit-
daemon.service".
I strace it and from the log it seems it succeeds to open dbus socket:

I think that's a wrong message ... because :

$ ls -l /var/run/dbus/system_bus_socket
srw-rw-rw- 1 root root 0 ian 10 09:42 /var/run/dbus/system_bus_socket

That file exists and dbus works fine (all my KDE/Qt apps works ok).

Ah, I was wrong, it ~hangs (actually it waits 25s for every call) in
rtkit_make_high_priority, when it calls
dbus_connection_send_with_reply_and_block
and it happens because rtkit fails to start :(

I'm using debian amd64 with debian-provided kernel (I'm way too lazy to build
my own).

As you can see it's hanged in context_autospawn, sadly I have no idea what to
do next (besides removing it again) :).

Yours,

P.S. I tried to rebuild the packages from source, but it fails to compile it.

Erratum: the driver & loader are working grate! I copied it to the wrong
folder :)

As requested I created a new bug report
(https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=827188)  with more info
about what's needed and how to
test it.

Cheers,

Bug#827188: [nvidia-driver] Missing Vulkan support

2016-06-13 Thread Bogdan Vatra
Package: nvidia-driver
Version: 367.18-1
Severity: normal

--- Please enter the report below this line. ---

Nvidia ships vulkan driver bundled into GLX driver, so, the package just needs
to bundle nvidia_icd.json and copy it to /usr/share/vulkan/icd.d (BTW that
folder didn't existed on my side, so make sure you create it first) and make
sure it depends on libvulkan1.

It can also recommends vulkan-utils which can be used to check it the vulkan
installation is ok (i.e. $ vulkaninfo should print lots of into about the
driver, it's similar with glxinfo).

BogDan.

Can you please add the most common packages that we need to install?
I had to dpkg -i one by one until I fixed all the dependencies :)

I installed 367 and I'm running it right now, seems to be ok.

Though VK support is not working. First and foremost it doesn't copy
nvidia_icd.json to /usr/share/vulkan/implicit_layer.d and even when I copy it,
it still fails to open it, because the vk_loader fails to "map" the functions
names (vkGetInstanceProcAddr" -> "vk_optimusGetInstanceProcAddr")
even the mapping is in the json file
[...]
"functions": {
"vkGetInstanceProcAddr": "vk_optimusGetInstanceProcAddr"
},

Hello,

NVIDIA 364.12 is coming with lots of (quite desired) features:
- updated Vulkan support
- mir & wayland support (Finally !)

Is there any plans to have it soon as an official debian package?

Thank you!

Well it is world readable:

root@localhost:~# ls -l /etc/resolv.conf
-rw-r--r--. 1 root root 43 Jan  8 14:57 /etc/resolv.conf

I think the problem is that apt is running under _apt user which on android it
doesn't network permissions.

Bug#804547: [nvidia-driver] Alien: Isolation needs driver version 355.11

2015-11-09 Thread Bogdan Vatra
Package: nvidia-driver
Version: 340.93-7
Severity: normal

Dear maintainer(s),

Alien: Isolation was released, but sadly it needs nvidia driver version 355.11
or better which is not available yet on Debian.
I'm using debian's nvidia packages instead of official nvidia one, because it
just works (you've done and still doing a GREAT job!) and I'd like to keep
using yours ;-).

So, I humbly request you to update nvidia driver (push it to experimental?).

Thank you!

  Large Qt apps (e.g. QtCreator) that are compiled with g++-5 crashes if Qt
  was compiled with g++-4.9.

 that's expected for some configurations. Please could you elaborate which
 c++ standard and libstdc++ ABI was used to build the underlying Qt
 libraries, and the application?

I'm using the default configuration of g++-multilib (g++-5-multilib) from
experimental (e.g. $ sudo apt-get -t experimental install g++-5-multilib g++-
multilib).

I'm using Qt5 libs from experimental (install qt5base-dev).
I tried different scenarios, I used qt/examples/widgets/mainwindows/application
example and I also tried QtCreator ($ git clone git://code.qt.io/qt-
creator/qt-creator.git).
I compiled them without any special settings regarding [libstd]C++ standard ($
qmake -r CONFIG+=debug; make -j10).

When I'm trying to run them, they crash immediately.

It seems related to https://bugreports.qt.io/browse/QTBUG-45755, it has almost
the same call stack when it crashes.

Hello,

Ashmem and binder are successfully used by Android for some time, it will be
great if Linux packages maintainers will consider to build these kernel
modules and add them to optional package(s).

Cheers,

Bug#769760: [libjpeg62-turbo] Upgrading libjpeg62-turbo will remove most of the installed KDE packages

2014-12-08 Thread Bogdan Vatra
Hello,

Please close this bug, I managed to upgrade it.
I did some dirty tricks (forced removed old libjpeg62* libs using dpkg, and
manually install the new ones), but in the end I fixed it.

Cheers,
BogDan.

 Hi,

 retry with plain apt-get and report back. This is not a bug in a

 it's just aptitude resolver being wrong (again).

 You can also use grep-dctrl to find affected package, search for

  Hi guys,

  I've just uploaded 1.20.0~beta1 to unstable. Could you check if you
  still see the pgadmin3 crashes there? It seems to work for me now.

  Packages on apt.postgresql.org should be available shortly in the

 Hi again,

 there's now 1.20.0~beta2-1 in unstable. Could you give that a try
 again? I don't see the crash in beta2 here.

 Also, would you say this bug makes pgadmin3 unusable, or is the rest
 of the functionality working just fine? I'm pondering downgrading the
 severity of this bug to just important so we at least have a
 mostly-working version of pgadmin3 in jessie.

 Christoph

Hi Christoph,

It seems the crash if fixed, I can't reproduce it anymore.

Thanks!

 Hi Bogdan,

 1.18.1-3.pgdg70+1 is a Wheezy package. Are you running that on Jessie
 or Sid?

 Christoph

Hi Christoph,
Ah, I forgot to remove the one from http://apt.postgresql.org/pub/repos/apt/
wheezy-pgdg main :).

Anyway, I just reinstall it now from sid and I have the same problem, here is
the log and the bt:

$ sudo apt-get remove --purge pgadmin3*

 Yay, thanks for the initial response.

 Hmm. Can you attach the content of all files and symlinks in
 /etc/systemd/system/cups.socket.d ?

Check cups.socket.d.output.txt

 Could you also attach the output of `systemctl show cups.socket` ?

Check systemctl_show_cups.socket_output.txt

 Do you happen to have a specific IPv6 setup on this machine? Kernel
 module unloaded or not built?

Yes, I disabled IPv6.
# cat /etc/sysctl.d/disableipv6.conf
net.ipv6.conf.all.disable_ipv6=1

It seems this is the reason why it doesn't work, I comment
ListenStream=[::1]:631  and it works fine.

  Well, cups worked perfectly for me before I SID replaced sysvinit with
  systemd. Because I was sure that some people will say it works for
  me, I removed them, and I tried to install them again. The result is
  the same, so for me is just a simple doesn't work on systemd. :)

 Did you upgrade all your system to sid?

No, I didn't upgrade to sid, I upgrade my existing sid installation.

 What is the install status of
 cups-browsed?

Is working.

Thanks.

 And that's a good thing.

 The 2 scenarios where root is needed (opening network port below 1024 and
 realtime priorities) are taken care with the use of vlc-wrapper.

 It is true that it isn't noted in NEWS but VLC have been outputting
 warnings when run as root for a long time.

 So if your use case is not taken care of by vlc-wrapper, please give
 more details. Else i'll add a note in NEWS and close the bug

I'll do all my work as root, I don't have a regular user !
I don't think I am the only (stupid ;-) ) who use root to work, so this maybe
will help others.
So please let me watch my movies as root too !!!
