Bug#1069134: libsundials-dev: Wrong path for klu.h

2024-04-16 Thread Christophe TROESTLER
Package: libsundials-dev
Version: 6.4.1+dfsg1-3+b3
Severity: normal
X-Debbugs-Cc: none, Christophe Troestler

Dear Maintainer,

When activating the KLU feature of sundials, the file

/usr/include/sunlinsol/sunlinsol_klu.h

is read. On line 34, there is

#include

but, even with suitesparse installed, that file is not found. It must be
changed into

#include

Best regards,
Christophe

Bug#1052033: davmail: Davmail uses too much memory

2023-09-16 Thread Christophe TROESTLER
Package: davmail
Version: 6.1.0.3423-4
Severity: normal
X-Debbugs-Cc: none, Christophe Troestler

Dear Maintainer,

Upon launch Davmail uses 7.5GiB of virtual memory and 107.8MiB of resident
memory but, after using it for about a day, 7.6GiB of virtual memory and 686MiB
of resident memory. Given that davmail only needs to keep a very small state,
that seems to point to a memory leak.

As a complement of information:

java --version

OpenJDK Runtime Environment (build 17.0.9-ea+4-Debian-1)
OpenJDK 64-Bit Server VM (build 17.0.9-ea+4-Debian-1, mixed mode, sharing)

Best regards,

I had to create a nex profile for video to work again (I also had many tabs
open, I have few now).

Bug#998790: firefox: Video not playing

2021-11-07 Thread Christophe Troestler
Subject: firefox: Video not playing
Package: firefox
Version: 94.0-1
Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,

Playing videos on, say, youtube (e.g. )
does not work: the “loading circle” keeps turning but nothing happens (even
with troubleshoot mode turned on).

Bug#956840: Acknowledgement (pympress: Raise an error at start)

2020-04-15 Thread Christophe Troestler

A workaround is to start it with

python3 -m pympress file.pdf

It seems there is a conflict between python3.7 (used by default by pympress)
and python3.8 (used by most other programs).

Bug#939768: Solved

2019-09-14 Thread Christophe TROESTLER

Hi,

In my case, removing ~/.config/GIMP fixes the problem at startup. However
creating or opening an image crashes gimp. Following the discussion I confirm
that

apt-cache policy libgegl-0.4-0

fixes the problem.

Bug#903027: network-manager-dev: File NetworkManager.pc not present

2018-07-05 Thread Christophe Troestler
Package: network-manager-dev
Version: 1.10.8-1
Severity: important

Dear Maintainer,

While

$ apt-file search NetworkManager.pc
network-manager-dev: /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/pkgconfig/NetworkManager.pc

the file is not present into the package:

$ dpkg -L network-manager-dev|grep pc
/usr/share/dbus-1/interfaces/org.freedesktop.NetworkManager.Device.OlpcMesh.xml
/usr/share/gtk-doc/html/NetworkManager/gdbus-org.freedesktop.NetworkManager.Device.OlpcMesh.html
/usr/share/gtk-doc/html/NetworkManager/settings-802-11-olpc-mesh.html

Because of this,

$ pkg-config --print-requires libnm-gtk
Package NetworkManager was not found in the pkg-config search path.
Perhaps you should add the directory containing `NetworkManager.pc'
to the PKG_CONFIG_PATH environment variable
Package 'NetworkManager', required by 'libnm-gtk', not found

fetchmail: OpenSSL reported: error:14171102:SSL
routines:tls_process_server_hello:unsupported protocol

and mbsync also started to fail with

Bug#842720: firefox: Save new copy of tar.gz with the right extension

2016-10-31 Thread Christophe Troestler

Package: firefox
Version: 49.0-4
Severity: minor

Dear Maintainer,

When clicking again on a link that downloads a tar.gz file, say
fname.tar.gz, it gets saved to fname.tar-1.gz and so does not have the
right extension to be (fully) opened by file-roller. This is really
inconvenient (the name should be fname-1.tar.gz).

C.

Bug#840336: elpa-markdown-mode: Freezes Emacs when using TeX input mode in a header

2016-10-10 Thread Christophe Troestler

Package: elpa-markdown-mode
Version: 2.1-1
Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,

Markdown mode makes Emacs use 100% CPU and be unresponsive (C-g has no
effect) when using TeX input method in a header followed by an URL.

Steps to reproduce:

- Run: emacs -q
- Execute:

(load
"/usr/share/emacs/site-lisp/elpa-src/markdown-mode-2.1/markdown-mode.el")

- Create a file, say a.md, containing

#

http://

- Place the cursor after "#".

- Switch to TeX input method (C-\ and select TeX)

- Type \ (then Emacs freezes)

emacs-25.1.50.1 and emacs-26.0.50.1 (compiled from the Git repository)
have the same problem.

Bug#839670: clementine: Should use album artist when available

2016-10-03 Thread Christophe Troestler

Package: clementine
Version: 1.3.1+dfsg-1+b2
Severity: wishlist

Dear Maintainer,

When an album has multiple singers, the tag "Artist" refers to the
person(s) singing the song while "Album artist" to the one(s) considered
the "authors" of the album. When the later is available, it should be
used to sort the library.

It is possible to have what I want going to "advanced grouping" but I
would argue that this should be in the "group by menu" and even possibly
be the default one.

Best,
C.

Bug#819479: gnome-control-center: Should indicate when soft or hard blocked

2016-03-29 Thread Christophe Troestler
Package: gnome-control-center

Severity: wishlist

Dear Maintainer,

It would be desirable that Gnome Control Center (and maybe also the applet)
indicates when a bluetooth (or WIFI) device cannot connect because it has been
hard or soft blocked. Right now, the interface shows that the device is fully
activated and the refusal to connect looks like a malfunction or a bug (the
error message is too briefly displayed to be be seen).

Best,
C.

Bug#818384: xserver-xorg-video-intel: Crash when disconnecting external screen

2016-03-19 Thread Christophe Troestler
Package: xserver-xorg-video-intel
Version: 2:2.99.917+git20160307-2
Severity: important

Dear Maintainer,

I have a Thinkpad X250. Under Gnome 3 or KDE, when I plug in the VGA cable,
the external screen is detected and works well (whether as a separate screen or
as clone of the laptop screen). However, when I _unplug_ the screen VGA cable,
X crashes and the laptop displays the console.

This is very annoying as I tend to need to plug/unplug external screens (and
data projectors) on a regular basis.

Best,
C.

Bug#376821: gimp: Crash when browsing fonts

2016-02-23 Thread Christophe Troestler
Package: gimp
Version: 2.8.16-1
Severity: serious

Dear Maintainer,

I'm experiencing a similar issue. Just opening the gimp and browsing the list
of fonts triggers a crash. In case it is related, I have some MS fonts
(calibri, consolas,...) in ~/.fonts — but they do work with other programs.

Best,
C.

Well, I reinstalled it and it now works fine. Don't know what
happened, it seems the two versions got “mixed” somehow. Strange.

Bug#743772: fluxbox: Cannot move Gnome 3.12 applications

2014-04-06 Thread Christophe Troestler
Package: fluxbox
Version: 1.3.5-2
Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,

The new version of Gnome applications forbid the WM to display window
decorations. Supposedly, one can move the window by clicking on their
title bar which indeed displays the proper cursor and the window
position but does not move the window at all in fluxbox. I have this
behavior with file-roller for example.

Bug#743040: evince: Images incorrectly displayed

2014-03-30 Thread Christophe Troestler

Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,

The images in the document

look like Grey rectangles. The same also happens in Okular,... so it
may be a problem with a dependent library. Only in the proprietary
acroread (Acrobat Reader) they are displayed properly.

Best,
C.

Package: xserver-xephyr

Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,

When I launch Xephyr,

Xephyr -screen 300x300 :1

only a small window is created, definitely not a 300x300 one. xprop
though reports that

WM_NORMAL_HINTS(WM_SIZE_HINTS):
program specified minimum size: 300 by 300
program specified maximum size: 300 by 300

I use the nvidia driver 331.49-1 but I had no problem before.
xnest works without problem.

Well it works for me. Note that window size and placement is ultimately
decided by your window manager, not the client, so the value you pass to
Xephyr -screen is only a hint.

Possibly there is a weird interaction with the WM. No WM settings
were given for the initial bug report. Clearly, I can set the size
using the WM, but — oddly — only if I pass the option -resizeable to
Xephyr — if not, the WM settings have no effect.

With the TWM, the -screen option has no effect until I click on the
resize button.

Note that I did not have this problem with the previous version of
xorg (fluxbox 1.3.5 is more than a year old and all was fine before).
I will ask on the fluxbox list whether other people have the same issue.

Thanks for your answers,
C.

/usr/share/emacs24/site-lisp/ is eventually created. Thus, the
directives in /etc/emacs/site-start.d/50maxima-emacs.el do not work.

Bug#728501: w3m-el: mew-w3m-region multiple blockquote

2013-11-01 Thread Christophe TROESTLER
Package: w3m-el
Version: 1.4.483+0.20120614-3
Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,

The function `mew-w3m-region` in mew-w3m.el does not work with a
blockquote inside another blockquote (this may happen when citations
are inside other citations in emails). I guess one must use
`w3m-end-of-tag` instead of `w3m-search-tag` to locate the closing
tag.

Also, div start new lines — which must be quoted — but one has to be
careful that brdiv, br/divdivdiv,... only produce a single
new line.

It will be appreciated that these problems be fixed.

Best,
C.

the vertical bars denoting absolute value in that equation appear to be

1 pixel is good.

maybe this is due to some other problem, configuration option,
co-installed package, font, extension, or something else?

can you replicate the problem with a clean browser profile?

  iceweasel -no-remote --safe-mode -ProfileManager

With this (even removing “--safe-mode”), I cannot reproduce the problem.
It seems to be linked to the following line in prefs.js:

user_pref(font.mathfont-family, CMR10, CMSY10, CMEX10, CMMI10, Symbol);

Copying prefs.js to the clean profile and adding (resp. removing) this
line triggers (resp. sloves) the bug. However, on my main profile, if
I remove this line and start iceweasel, it is automatically added
again to prefs.js!

I added a screenshot to show how it looks on my machine.

So I am not sure this is a bug. Maybe this is on purpose. If one
considers this operation to be invalid (as I do), then it makes sense to
 do nothing.

If the operation is considered invalid, then it should return an error
instead of doing nothing silently.

However, I insist that the operation is perfectly valid from a
mathematical point of view. Indeed, in mathematics, ∑_{i ∈ ∅} a_i = 0.
Therefore, A * x = 0 when A has dimensions M×0. This corner case is
also useful in practice. For a problem I have, I needed to compute

t ↦ f(t₀ y + ∑ t_i a_i)

where a_i are vectors and t_i real numbers. It so happens that in
some circumstances, the sum may be empty leading to a constant
function instead of the correct t ↦ f(t₀ y). A very bad surprise
IMHO, incoherent with the semantics of the operation.

Does the documentation clearly states that BLAS supports operations on
objects with one dimension equal to zero?

Not the man pages. To the contrary, for N, the man page clearly
includes the possibility that N = 0:

   N - INTEGER.
On entry, N specifies the number of columns of the matrix A. N
must be at least zero. Unchanged on exit.

Bug#679577: Workaround after 302.17-3 landed into testing

2012-07-12 Thread Christophe TROESTLER
Hi,

With version 302.17-3 now in testing, downgrading is made harder.
Here is the procedure I used in case it is of some help. First add

deb http://snapshot.debian.org/archive/debian/20120710T032858Z/ testing main
non-free contrib

to /etc/apt/sources.list

Then issue

aptitude install libgl1-nvidia-glx=295.59-1 libglx-nvidia-alternatives=295.59-1
nvidia-alternative=295.59-1 nvidia-glx=295.59-1 nvidia-kernel-dkms=295.59-1
nvidia-kernel-source=295.59-1 nvidia-settings=295.49-1
nvidia-vdpau-driver=295.59-1 xserver-xorg-video-nvidia=295.59-1

To prevent this downgrading to be removed at the next aptitude
safe-upgrade, do:

aptitude hold libgl1-nvidia-glx libglx-nvidia-alternatives nvidia-alternative
nvidia-glx nvidia-kernel-dkms nvidia-kernel-source nvidia-settings
nvidia-vdpau-driver xserver-xorg-video-nvidia

(aptitude search ~ahold to see what packages are on hold).

Bug#675690: ifupdown: Error configuring the interfaces (/etc/init.d/networking)

2012-06-02 Thread Christophe TROESTLER
Package: ifupdown
Version: 0.7
Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,

Here is a problem with the /etc/init.d/networking script:

# /etc/init.d/networking stop
[ ok ] Deconfiguring network interfaces...done.
# /etc/init.d/networking start
[] Configuring network interfaces...ln: unrecognized option '--all-travel'
Try `ln --help' for more information.
done.

Also, when booting the machine, the script complains that it does not
find /var/run/dbus/system_bus_socket (saying no such file or
directory). And indeed /etc/init.d/networking is run way before dbus
is started. My file /etc/network/interfaces contains only

auto lo

Bug#626224: Systray icon takes extra space in systray

2011-11-13 Thread Christophe TROESTLER

Just to add a precision that was not noted previously: the problem is
not directly related to sleep but to the removal of the battery.
Indeed extra spaces are also added when the battery is physically
removed (1 extra space) and then reinserted (1 more extra space).
Attached is the log produced by

Bug#646628: gkrellm: Incorrect battery level after suspend on battery

2011-10-25 Thread Christophe TROESTLER
Package: gkrellm
Version: 2.3.5-3
Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,

Please reopen #630117. It seems that my last reply concerning the
battery level was not seen. Here is a summary :

If the machine goes to sleep while on power, then the battery level
is restored correctly even if it is on battery during wake up. If
the laptop goes to sleep while on battery, then the battery
percentage becomes 0% whether it wakes up on battery or on power.
In this case, suspending again while plugged to the wall restores
  the correct battery level.

Best,
C.

Bug#631156: dictionaries-common: Wrong translation table

2011-06-20 Thread Christophe TROESTLER
Package: dictionaries-common
Version: 1.11.3
Severity: normal

When checking for the spelling of a word, Emacs raises

translate-region: Invalid translation table name: nil

IMHO, it is because `ispell-insert-word` uses
`translation-table-for-input` which is deprecated since 23.1. Note
that it is because dictionaries-common insists in providing
/usr/share/emacs23/site-lisp/dictionaries-common/debian-ispell.el When
one forces Emacs to use
/usr/share/emacs/23.3/lisp/textmodes/ispell.elc, no problem occurs.

Note that Emacs also comes with
/usr/share/emacs/23.3/lisp/textmodes/flyspell.elc, so there is no
reason to provide flyspell.el in this package either.

Bug#626224: xfce4-power-manager: Empty spots in the notification area

2011-06-06 Thread Christophe TROESTLER

Package: xfce4-power-manager
Version: 1.0.10-3
Severity: normal

Starting with kernel 2.6.38.8 (as opposed to 2.6.38.2 for which the
bug does not occur), when the computer wakes up from suspend, the
notification area shows two empty spots (see attached image). A line
Message: applet now removed from the notification area is present in
.xsession-errors. According to the tool-tip that displays when one
moves the mouse on them, it seems that these empty spots are due to
xfce4-power-manager. And indeed, killing it removes them all. They
also got removed if I restart my window manager (fluxbox). The same
happens with version 0.8.5-2.

Bug#613389: libreoffice: terminate called after throwing an instance of 'com::sun::star::lang::WrappedTargetRuntimeException'

2011-02-14 Thread Christophe TROESTLER
Package: libreoffice
Version: 1:3.3.0-2
Severity: grave

After the safe-upgrade today, libreoffcice cannot even open a
document. It always throws

terminate called after throwing an instance of
'com::sun::star::lang::WrappedTargetRuntimeException'

Issuing

aptitude install -t unstable libreoffice-base libreoffice-calc libreoffice-draw
libreoffice-gtk libreoffice-impress libreoffice-writer libreoffice-core
libreoffice-math libreoffice

unfortunately does NOT solve the problem. (Also IMHO the dependencies
should be improved so that different incompatible (?) versions do not
coexist).

Moving ~/.libreoffice/ out of the way fixes the problem (but this
should be part of the upgrade ― catch the exception, perform the
needed transformation).

Bug#612893: fluxbox: Keypresses are lost after changing workspaces

2011-02-11 Thread Christophe TROESTLER
Package: fluxbox
Version: 1.1.1+git20100908.df2f51b-2
Severity: important

I have keyboard shortcuts for changing workspaces. After moving to a
different workspace, the first key-press is sometimes lost. I believe
this is because the window under the cursor (I use focus follow mouse
with auto-raise) does not receive the proper focus. In the same vein,
after switching workspaces, moving the cursor to a different window
does not focus it. These behaviors are not systematic but happen
often enough to be rather annoying.

Bug#607834: iceweasel: Does not switch the character encoding appropriately

2010-12-22 Thread Christophe TROESTLER

Package: iceweasel
Version: 3.6.13-1
Severity: normal

Go to thre page http://math.umons.ac.be/en/etudiant/aide.html and
click See the schedule of this year at the bottom. The new page
keeps being encoded in UTF-8 while it is actually in latin-1 (as is
declared in its header). Chromium behaves fine.
