 Hi,
This crash seems to be due to the recent update of python-qt4. You probably
have some python plasmoids on your desktop. As a temporary workaround, backup
your plasma configuration and let it start with a clean one, which has no
 python plasmoids on it.

I identify at least the gmail plasmoid that make plasma crash today.

I am lowering the severity, because this affects only people that use python
 plasmoids.
It's ok for me.

Thanks,

Bug#521712: [linux-headers-2.6.29-1-686] Short resolution

2009-03-30 Thread Encolpe Degoute
Package: linux-headers-2.6.29-1-686

--- Please enter the report below this line. ---

As Google says it seems to be a recurrent error :
http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=501995

A quicker fix is to rebuild kernel-headers on your computer from sources:

# apt-get install linux-source-2.6.29
# cd /usr/src
# tar jxf linux-source-2.6.29.tar.bz2
# cd linux-source-2.6.29
# make-kpkg build kernel_headers
##long long time

# dpkg -i linux-header*.deb
# cd /usr/src/linux-headers-2.6.26/include/
# rm asm ln -s asm-x86 asm

Then you can rebuild you modules.

Bug#488027: [wifi-radar] WEP authentication doesn't work

2008-06-25 Thread Encolpe Degoute
Package: wifi-radar
Version: 1.9.9-1.1
Severity: normal

--- Please enter the report below this line. ---

I tried on several WEP authenticated wifi networks and where
wpa_supplicant works wifi-radar is never authenticated on these networks.

Steps to reproduce:
- have a WEP authenticated wifi network
- add a configuration for this network in the wifi-radar gui
- add your WEP kay in 'Wifi Options' without modifying anything else
- don't put any WPA driver
- save and try to connect

I saw in logs that the key was never sent to the AP.
I think it is an upstream bug.

Bug#462076: python-zodb: Does not support python2.5

2008-01-22 Thread Encolpe Degoute
Josselin Mouette a écrit :
 Package: python-zodb

Currently, python-zodb doesn’t support python2.5, which means it will
prevent upgrades to python 2.5. According to the changelog, this is
 intentional and it won’t work.

In this case, please make python-zodb, just like zope, hardcode
python2.4 everywhere and ship its modules in a private directory. This
way it will remain, like the whole Zope stack, dependent on python2.4
and won’t affect the python transition.

Here comes a part of a solution:

ZODB 3.8 if available at:

   http://pypi.python.org/pypi/ZODB3

There you will find a source release and windows binaries for Python 2.4
and 2.5.

You may be need python-zodb 3.6 for Zope and Plone and python-zodb 3.8
for python 2.5 applications

It's the second time you close a bug after only upload the amd64 package!

Please upload at least one i386 package or reopen the bug.

Seems you don't understand the way package upload works.
I build a package for the architecture I am using, and then the package is
 automatically built for others.

Beside, it just have been uploaded for i386, so you should just keep it quite
 next time.

For last version it was not. The i386 packages were made lately (See
#440186).
Then you should wait that these packages have been generated before to
close one bug.
Or you can just said that the bug is fixed upstream without show us your
amd64 logs that we don't care.

No it doesn't, I don't consider this bug serious and I merge it with
two other bugs that were asking for new upstream.

When you'll have your head in the build system and the hell

argouml. See the mdr license and source problem for example.

As see with argouml developers, 0.24 is not compilable for now and
there's no maintenance branch for it, only a unstable development branch.
Can you envisage to drop argouml out of Debian ?
The goal is to remove an outdated and obsolete package. Perhaps in few
years we will have an argouml release that would be packagable.

How does upstream build argouml when its not buildable according to you?
Perhaps using icedtea for building will solve all issues. icedtea will
(hopefully) be soon included in Debian.

The development branch can be built, but it's not usable for packaging:
http://argouml.tigris.org/servlets/ReadMsg?list=devmsgNo=21295

The build issue for 0.24 can be fix using a part of the development
branch (MDR) on which there's a license issue as Arnaud Vandyck said before.

 what's wrong with version 8.40.4-2 for i386? Why hasnt'it built for i386

I think the solution is in new drivers available in experimental:

Bug#443129: incompatible xorg 7.3 (modules 1.4.0)

2007-09-18 Thread Encolpe Degoute
Package: fglrx-driver
Version: 8.38.6-2
Severity: grave

--- Please enter the report below this line. ---

This package provides xserver-xorg-video-1.0 that is in conflict with
xserver-xorg-core 1.4-2

With 8.40.4 installed from --buildpkg with ati runner I can get this error:

(II) LoadModule: fglrx
(II) Loading /usr/lib/xorg/modules/drivers//fglrx_drv.so
(II) Module fglrx: vendor=FireGL - ATI Technologies Inc.
  compiled for 7.1.0, module version = 8.40.4
  Module class: X.Org Video Driver
ABI class: X.Org Video Driver, version 1.0
(EE) module ABI major version (1) doesn't match the server's version (2)
(II) UnloadModule: fglrx
(II) Unloading /usr/lib/xorg/modules/drivers//fglrx_drv.so
(EE) Failed to load module fglrx (module requirement mismatch, 0)

I suppose that 8.38.6-2 is built against xserver-xorg-core 1.3.
One other thing: 8.40.4 is built for amd64 architecture and only
fglrx-control is available in this version.

 Hi,

 That's right :(
Now, we only have to wait until ATI releases a fixed driver.

There's also this bug to fix before they release a new driver:

Bug#418338: fglrx-driver: Xorg crashes when shutting down

2007-04-16 Thread Encolpe Degoute
sECuRE a écrit :
 Package: fglrx-driver
 Version: 8.28.8-4
 Severity: critical
 Justification: breaks the whole system

When running Xorg (via gdm or startx), there is no problem. fglrx runs as
 expected. However, when
shutting down Xorg via Ctrl+Alt+Backspace or when shutting down, the system
 just freezes. That means,
there is no monitor output anymore, it does not reboot properly, not pingable
 and no SSH-Login
 available.

It's a known bug = #345040
To more logs:
The module is never released by X and if you switch fast enough on the
console you can the that the X process take 100% of one CPU.
There's no logs in X log in kernel logs.

It happens also with 2.6.18 and experimental package (8.31.5-1) and with
latest ati release (8.35.5-1).

Since linux-headers-2.6.20-1-686 has a broken dependancy I cannot test
these packages with 2.6.20.

Last thnig, one time a build of debian linux-kernel was done without
some debian pathes and a lot of bugs were gone (this one, and some
relative to hibernation).

Bug#410124: kdmtheme: Message to say that desktop base overload it is unclear

2007-02-07 Thread Encolpe DEGOUTE
Package: kdmtheme
Version: 1.1.2-2
Severity: important

Hello,
#403797 is back:
When I click in use KDM Theme in the configuration panel a warning popup says
that it may be not work and to take a look in /usr/share/doc/kdm/README.Debian.
There's no mention of desktop-base in it neither to the file
/etc/default/kdm.d/10_desktop-base.

I don't know if the best place to talk about this is in
/usr/share/doc/kdm/README.Debian
or in
/usr/share/doc/kdmtheme/README.Debian

I file this bug in kdmtheme, but it can be reported too for gdm and xfce4.

Bug#401796: CVE-2006-4249: Plone vulnerability

Moritz Muehlenhoff a écrit :
 Package: zope-cmfplone
 Severity: grave
 Tags: security
 Justification: user security hole

I don't know very much about Plone and I didn't investigate too deeply
as Sarge is not affected, but I suppose this needs to be fixed for Etch:

 | PlonePAS-using Plone releases (Plone 2.5 and Plone 2.5.1)

Applying the hotfix is probably preferable to upgrading to 2.5.2.

+1

There's no Plone 2.5.2 release before january, apply the patch is the
solution for etch.

Bug#382508: xserver-xorg: Xorg freeze with 99% of CPU

Package: xserver-xorg

Symptoms:
It seems to happen when some OSD try to be display by an application

The whole screen is freezed but the cursor and all actions are extremely
slow. It's impossible to switch to the console but ssh works.
In a top, I can see that Xorg process take 99% of CPU and cannot be
killed (-15 or -9). If finally it has been killed this time the kernel
is freezed. The only thing to do is to reboot or halt the computer and
it doesn't work everytimes.
It never happens from months before linux kernel 2.6.17.

Bug#377055: istanbul: unmet dependancy with new python policy

istanbul depends on python2.3-glade2 (= 2.6.2-1) and now
 python2.3-glade2 is given by python-glade2.
 Istanbul cannot be installed.

I'm aware of it, and I'm just working on a new package.
I'm quite in trouble now, because I'm facing the porting to GST0.10, a
new upstream release (0.1.2) and some trouble with a python modules and
the new python policy at once.

Take your time.

If you need a working istanbul now, I can provide a new revision for
0.1.1 fixing this problem. Otherwise you will have the new version
 ready in few days.
Is this bug urgent (as needing 0.1.1-4)?

No as I didn't find any tools to edit theora files to add sildes and sound.

Thanks,

Complex circular dependencies are known to cause problems during

What could we do about this? Put ATContentTypes, PloneErrorReporting

In my opinion, the best thing to do is to downgrade the dependencies on
 ATContentTypes, PloneErrorReporting and PloneLanguageTool as
 Recommends instead of Depends.

My first message was out off topic.
PloneErrorReporting and PloneLanguageTool are just recommended in Plone 2.1
even if they are in the bundle.
CMFPlacefulWorkflow will be in the same state in Plone 2.5.
For ATContentTypes it's different, we need it to instanciate a plone site, and
we
need it to a minimal version: CMFPlone 2.1 requires ATCT 1.0 and
reciprocally.
If we just recomand this package bug reports will come.

Then I don't think it's a good idea to only recommands ATCT in CMFPlone, but we
can choose to do the opposite, like for Archetypes package.

| What is two years old? Your laptop? The thread? The first post is dated

I mine. I was confused by registred date.
I have not try this patch for now.

|This thread is 2.6.13 related and show another way:
|
| The blog post on that page mentions that the blogger got wpa_supplicant
| working when using wext. It also mentions that he still has problems
| getting DHCP replies. From the subject of this bug report I guess that
| DHCP failure is the problem?

Yes, it is.

| Comment number three is the only one mention the DHCP problem, and that
| post contains the link quoted above.

I didn't see it.

|I found a PCMCIA card today, tested wpa_supplicant with ndiswrapper
|and it was working. I doesn't know if is ipw2200 driver or
|interaction with it, but I cannot use encryption with this driver
|since kernel 2.6.13.
|
| Ok. So the problem is that with 2.6.13 it is not possible to use the
| network, but it is with earlier kernels?

With earlier kernel it was working.

|When I reported #340836, maintainer said that 2.6.15 use updated drivers
|for ipw2200 and ieee80211.
|
|
| Is this actually the same bug as #340836?

Yes

| Which kernel versions have you tried? Have you tried using 2.6.15? Did
| you use the included ipw2200 drivers or did you patch the kernel?

It's working with debian kernel 2.6.12 and debian ipw2200-source and
ieee80211-source packages.
It's not working with debian kernels 2.6.13, 2.6.14 and 2.6.15 without
and wih ebian ipw2200-source and ieee80211-source packages.

|I don't know how to debug wpa_supplicant in order to demonstrate that
|ipw2200 is the only responsible.
|
| The question here is if there is a bug with wpa_supplicant or with the
| driver itself.

Here comes logs of wpa_supplicant 0.4.6 running with ipw2200 from debian
kernel 2.6.15.
it's running on eth2 interface and try to get DHCP.

I'm sorry if I'm not enough understandable.

second point, I experiment this problem under 2.6.13, 2.6.14 and 2.6.15:
http://www.bitsplitter.net/blog/?p=563

Resume:
I installed 2.6.13 on my Thinkpad today (it’s magically changed from an
R51 to an X32, you’re not gonna hear me complain). I figured I would
follow up on my initial WPA Linux post and mention that the Wireless
Extensions version 18 are included now, and the ipw2200 driver uses the
wireless extensions instead of custom ioctl()s now. Net effect: compile
wpa_supplicant with CONFIG_DRIVER_WEXT=y in the .config file, and run
wpa_supplicant with -D wext to use the wireless extensions when
wpa_supplicant is running. If you don’t you get an errors something like
“ioctl[IPW_IOCTL_WPA_SUPPLICANT]: Operation not supported” when you run
wpa_supplicant. The support seems to be a little rough on this new
laptop, it takes a few tries sometimes to attach to the access point,
and for some reason I can’t get DHCP replies. Though if I keep trying
till it connects and then setup the interface by hand it works. I’ll
have to dig into it at some other point and see what’s going wrong.

| Interesting. evdev is not supposed to be loaded even by hotplug (it's in
| the default blacklist), but what happens if you add this to the top of
| /etc/init.d/udev?
|
| modprobe mousedev

After testing the two solutions, it still doesn't load usbmouse and
psmouse if they're not in /etc/modules. It seems that my usb mouse can
work with only mousedev loaded, but not the touchpad.
It also seems that, with my xorg/X configurationi, evdev must be load to

Yes, it doesn't work even if mousedev and evdev are already loaded.

I didn't notice 'evdev' requirement before, and I have not the problem
on another configuration with an old radeon card. Perhaps that's a side

i tested with windowmaker, fluxbox and twm; these work fine (twm has

with KDE and XFCE.
well, upstream is informed about that. :)
Okay, I've had a closer look at this, and I think it's either a
libdockapp issue or a window maker issue.

What's happening is that libdockapp essentially forces apps using it
to render to the icon window. This is the same with the libdockapp
examples, so I don't think wmacpi is misusing the library. The window
maker dock
seems to display things fine whether it's displaying to the icon
window or the app window, but most other window managers will only
display the icon window when the app is iconified - this is why
iconifying wmacpi under twm causes it to work.

The WM dock displays things happily either way (try running wmifs
under twm - it works exactly as expected, so it must be drawing to
the main window), so I'm not sure why libdockapp is doing it this
way . . .

Sadly, my X11-fu is insufficient to modify libdockapp to switch the
drawing around, so I can't change it to test. However, I'm fairly
confident this is the problem.
I guess this should be handed off to the libdockapp maintainer.
I'm agree with you.

Bug#297810: [Pkg-zope-developers] (no subject)

For some strange reasons I missed this bug report because it hasn't been
forwarded to my mailbox, sorry.
When you have installed zope2.7 debian package, you have been warned
about this and you have been adviced to symlink products for zope2.7
instances, so this isn't a zope-cmfplone specific ug.
I put one other on zope-cmf.
I just put the bug on them because with this system the maintainer of
zope-cps package and I cannot use CMF packages for CPS the we build it
in a all products in one package method. It's dirty.

We are working to handle different zope versions (and different python
versions) with only one product installation. I don't know if this will
be included in sarge or not, but certainly we are taking care about this
issue. All in all, this applies on almost all products and not only
Plone.
It seems good.
I had done the work one year and a half ago but at that time nobody
cares of it.

I agree that this is a bug, but it's no more than an important bug
because it does not render the package unusable to everyone, just
those using Zope2.7. In fact, I am not even sure whether this isn't
just a plain wishlist bug.
Thanks :)
Anyway, my suggested fix would be to install Plone products to
/usr/share/plone/Products, and then to symlink them individually to
the two Zope hierarchies. However, this fails when the two Zope
instances use different Python versions (which they do), because of
pre-compiled modules. Thus, short of installing plone twice, I do
not see an easy way out. Maybe then it would be possible to filter
out common stuff into plone-common.
Symlink is not a good idea. We use symlink for up-to-date products from
version control (cvs, svn or arch). For packaging products we have to
use more robust mecanism to protect instance about broken products on
upgrade. We can use python to manage this with a .ini file.

Note that I copied the Debian Zope developers list. I hope they have
already worked out a policy for this. Otherwise we will need to get
thinking about one soon!
Yes, discuss of these question here (pkg-zope-developpers). I do not
want to report more bugs on this but if I cannot see any discussion on
it, I will think zope maintainers work is dead again.

Bug#297810: plone: Install products in an unusable directory

2005-03-02 Thread Encolpe DEGOUTE
Package: plone
Version: Install products in an unusable directory
Severity: grave
Justification: renders package unusable

This products is installed in /usr/lib/zope/lib/python/Products. Then it
is unusable for zope2.7 package and create conflict with zope-cps
products.

Why don't you install it in /usr/share/zope-cmf1.4 then do a script to
copy files in a working zope instance.

Now Zope policy is to use $INSTANCE/Products instead of
$ZOPE/lib/python/Products. It is a second good reason to move
installation directory.
