Bug#1012819: gnome-software: When installing freecad via gnome-software, the freecad-common package is installed instead of freecad

2022-06-14 Thread Eugen Wintersberger
Package: gnome-software
Version: 3.38.1-1
Severity: normal
Tags: upstream
X-Debbugs-Cc: eugen.wintersber...@gmail.com

Dear Maintainer,
when I install freecad via gnome-software the freecad-common package instead
of the freecad package is installed. Therefore, a user cannot run freecad when
installed with gnome-software.

Bug#856122: calf-plugins: UI not loaded in ardour (works in the standelone app)

2017-03-27 Thread Eugen Wintersberger
Package: calf-plugins
Version: 0.0.60-4+b1
Followup-For: Bug #856122

Dear Maintainer,

well this bug still exists with ardour 5.5 from the testing (stretch)
repositories. But I agree that it is most probably a bug in ardour rather than
in calf-plugins.

Should this bug be moved? An if yes, who can do that (though I can build my own
packages I have no clue how bug management in Debian works and how is
responsible for moving a bug) ;)

regards
  Eugen

Bug#769661: unblock: libcerf/1.3-2

2014-11-15 Thread Eugen Wintersberger
Package: release.debian.org
Severity: normal
User: release.debian@packages.debian.org
Usertags: unblock

Please unblock package libcerf

The package was blocked due to a RC bug in libcerf-doc (#768209).
The package could not update as there where conflicting files with manpages-dev
3.44-1 in Wheezy. This conflict was already reported in #764310.
Both bugs are now closed with libcerf 1.3-2.

manpages-dev (3.74) shipped with Jessie does no longer include the conflicting
manpages provided by libcerf.

The wallpaper display is flawed after resuming my laptop from
suspend mode. Attached you find two screenshorts of the desktop
before and after resuming from suspend.

I use the proprietary NVIDIA drivers on my laptop where I experience
this problem.

Ok - this issue seems to be solved.

Good point. I have no idea how to proceed with this. Although, I would
agree with Joachim (see below) that for the time beeing libcerf can be
considered a complement to glibc. In addition, once glibc provides the
functionality the C99 standard demands, the transition from libcerf to
glibc would be easy as the names are function names are already correct.

Ok - this is my pragmatic point of view. Is there an official policy how
to deal with such issues?

Bug#764310: manpages-dev and libcerf-doc: error when trying to install together

2014-10-09 Thread Eugen Wintersberger
Hi
sorry for my late reply - though being listed as a maintainer for the
libcerf package I did not recieve a mail from the Debian bug tracker.
I am quite new to the Debian packaging world - so most probably I did
something wrong or forgot to regsiter somewher.

Anyhow ...

Just now I informed the upstream maintainers of libcerf about this. I am pretty
sure
they simply where not aware of the fact that these functions are already
mentioned
in the C99 standard. I am just not sure if they manage to change the upstream
code in time to make it until the freeze of Jessie.

I have not found cerf and cerfc in the documentation for glibc 2.20 so I assume
that
these functions would not be provided by the glibc version shipped with Jessie.
Hence, I suggest to remove cerf.3 and cerfc.3 from manpages-dev as long as
glibc
does not provide this functionality.

I am very well aware of the fact that this looks a bit like makeing this a
sombody else's problem. However, in my opinion manpages of a package providing
a particular functionality should have precedence.

In any case this can only be an intermediate solution until upstream has
renamed
the functions.

  Eugen
