Bug#761036: Patch (from Debian) for buildling LilyPond 2.18.2 and 2.19.53 on GNU Hurd

2017-02-22 Thread Federico Bruni

Hi Anthony

Thanks for the report! I've added it to the tracker:
https://sourceforge.net/p/testlilyissues/issues/5077/

We have a procedure for proposing patches. In a nutshell, you need to
apply the patch to the master branch and upload it to Google Rietveld
with a script called git-cl (available on github).

All information is here:
http://lilypond.org/doc/v2.19/Documentation/contributor/index.html

Can you take care of it?
Let me know, thanks
Federico

Hello,

LilyPond failed to build on GNU Hurd because Hurd does not have
PATH_MAX.
Fortunately, a workaround is available thanks to the combined effort
of
Debian developers Don Armstrong (Debian package maintainer for
LilyPond)

and Petter Reinholdtsen (Debian Hurd guru).

Petter expressed his wish to send this patch upstream to be included
in
future releases of LilyPond, hence this bug report with the attached
patch!

 :-)

A little bit of history:

2013-05-13, Don Armstrong :

Changelog for LilyPond Debian package version 2.16.2-2:

  * Patch around using PATH_MAX in flower/file-name.cc to have builds
work

on hurd (hopefully).

2014-09-10, Petter Reinholdtsen , debian.org>:

  https://bugs.debian.org/761036

Hi. The lilypond package do not build on hurd, even with a hurd
patch

in place. The cause seem to be a typo in the file
  debian/patches/hurd_file_name_support, checking for _GNU_SOURCE_
instead of _GNU_SOURCE (at least that is what the getcwd() manual
page

  claim to look for).

Attached is an updated patch, fixing that bug, a memory leak
forgetting to release the memory allocated by
get_current_dir_name(),

and adding the same code in the test code.

Please replace the patch in the current source with this new one,
and

  consider sending it upstream. :)

2016-07-18, Dr. Tobias Quathamer :

Reviewed and committed the patch to the debian-experimental branch
(intended for an experiment with LilyPond 2.19.x and Guile-2.x)
in the LilyPond deb packaging git repository:

https://anonscm.debian.org/git/collab-maint/lilypond.git/commit/?h=debian-experimental=e56df084666dbf9905d90c062b1f462aeb6f5f4a

2017-01-27, me:

Discovered the above, and cherry-picked Dr. Tobias's commit onto the
  "debian" (stable) branch with 2.18.2.

Many thanks!

I haven't used this laptop for a lot of time. Too slow, too many problems...

Can you please advise about the status of this bug?
It seems that it was accepted and then forgot?!?

BTW, bug #652987 seems a duplicate.

Bug#712902: (no subject)

2015-01-20 Thread Federico Bruni
Yes, I can confirm. This command works for me (I'm using sudo, no root
user):

gksu unetbootin

Another way is changing the default behaviour from su to sudo in
gksu-properties, as suggested here:

https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/unetbootin/+bug/1195061/comments/10

And now it works also graphically.

Bug#767508: chromium: print button disappeared in chromium print preview

2014-10-31 Thread Federico Bruni
Package: chromium
Version: 38.0.2125.101-3
Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,

as you can see in this screenshot:
http://pbrd.co/1q8CI5M

chromium print preview has only the Cancel and Save buttons when a PDF is open.
I can print only using the link to the system printing dialog (Shift+Ctrl+P).

This button disappeared after an upgrade about 10 days ago, few days after
the introduction of this feature (print preview, if I call it correctly).

I don't know how Chromium detects the local printers.
In chrome://devices I see that no devices are detected and I must log in to
Chrome to be able to see my devices. Does it mean that I need to log in
to Chrome to print through the print preview dialog? It sounds weird...

I currently cannot log in to Chrome due to bug #750606.

Thanks
Federico

Bug#763323: gnome-shell-pomodoro: gnome-pomodoro does not start

Hi,

I've packaged the 0.10.3 version which is now compatible with

I'm still not able to launch the app directly from the
`gnome-pomodoro` without restarting gnome-shell. But I think it may
come from the gnome-tweak-tool catching the app as an extension before
it gets displayed. I still have to check that.

But you are totally able to enable it using the gnome-tweak-tool
without having to restart anything.

Bug#764373: chromium: desktop file, icons and other files are missing from binary package

2014-10-16 Thread Federico Bruni
Package: chromium
Version: 38.0.2125.101-2
Followup-For: Bug #764373

This is not fixed yet. There are some problems, as reported in the last comment.
/usr/share/pixmaps/chromium.png is an empty directory, not a file:

# find /usr -name 'chromium*.png' -ls
3943274 -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 1100 ott 13 09:26
/usr/share/icons/hicolor/22x22/chromium.png

/usr/share/icons/hicolor/24x24/chromium.png

/usr/share/icons/hicolor/48x48/chromium.png
394264 12 -rw-r--r-- 1 root root10100 ott 13 09:26
/usr/share/icons/hicolor/128x128/chromium.png
394335 24 -rw-r--r-- 1 root root23096 ott 13 09:26
/usr/share/icons/hicolor/256x256/chromium.png
3943388 -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 4455 ott 13 09:26
/usr/share/icons/hicolor/64x64/chromium.png
6632024 drwxr-xr-x 2 root root 4096 ott 14 09:26
/usr/share/pixmaps/chromium.png

I fixed it by copying manually the icon:

$ mkdir ~/.icons
$ cp /usr/share/icons/hicolor/64x64/chromium.png .icons/

Bug#765384: gnome-boxes: Unable to open qemu+unix:///session: Failed to connect socket...

2014-10-14 Thread Federico Bruni
Package: gnome-boxes
Version: 3.14.0-2
Severity: important

Dear Maintainer,

I guess that this bug should be assigned to some libvirt package, but
I don't know which one. And anyway most users would want to report it
here, so good to have a pointer anyway.

gnome-boxes is totally unusable:

- I cannot see the available virtual machine
- I cannot import it from system broker
- I cannot create new ones from an ISO file

I belong to these groups:

$ groups
fede cdrom floppy sudo audio dip video plugdev netdev lpadmin scanner colord
kvm libvirt

Thanks
Federico

Bug#764316: gedit: line numbers not shown

2014-10-07 Thread Federico Bruni
Package: gedit
Version: 3.12.2-2
Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,

When I activate the line numbers in the preferences, the column
on the left shows up but the numbers are missing (no matter of
what is the chosen color scheme).

I can't test version 3.14 in unstable, I don't know if this
has been fixed.
I've searched the tracker upstream (bugzilla gnome) and
couldn't find any bug related.

Bug#763323: gnome-shell-pomodoro: gnome-pomodoro does not start

2014-09-29 Thread Federico Bruni
Package: gnome-shell-pomodoro
Version: 0.10.2-5
Severity: important

After installation, if I launch Pomodoro from gnome-shell
I see that it never starts.
'ps aux | grep pomodoro' shows that it's been launched
with option --preferences. If I try that command in
the terminal I get:

$ gnome-pomodoro --preferences
GApplication service mode takes no arguments.
^C

It hangs until I stop it.
It hangs even if I launch gnome-pomodoro with no arguments.

I had a similar problem yessterday on another computer running sid,
but at least I could run it without arguments. It seems it's not
usable on testing.

Let me know if you need more information.
Thanks
Federico

Bug#760210:

2014-09-28 Thread Federico Bruni
If I remove restart-always I get some more information about the errors.
One was about the audio buffer: I added '-z 940' option and it disappeared.

I still get a warning about the periods:

Any systemd expert here?

Bug#721192:

2014-09-15 Thread Federico Bruni
I'm trying to use it from the sources but I have a problem..
I installed these dependencies:
python3-gtkspellcheck python3-distutils-extra

Then built and installed from source:

bzr branch lp:uberwriter
cd uberwriter
python3 setup.py build
sudo python3 setup.py install

Here's the error:

$ uberwriter

Actually I got the same error when I tried to run it directly from the
source, but I hoped that the installation would have helped.

Last note: the installation process seemed to work fine, except for this
error:

Bug#746643: OpenCL not supported by lastest NVIDIA driver

2014-06-25 Thread Federico Bruni
Package: nvidia-kernel-dkms
Version: 331.79-1
Followup-For: Bug #746643

It doesn't seem to be fixed here. At least, darktable is still not able
to use opencl.
I see below that I had a couple of old nvidia packages. I've just upgraded
them but nothing changes:
apt-get install -t unstable libnvidia-ml1 nvidia-settings

I don't think that I need to restart the system to make it work.
I'm missing something else?
How can I find the problem?

darktable's message is:

[opencl_init] trying to load opencl library: 'system default'
[opencl_init] could not find opencl runtime library 'libOpenCL'
[opencl_init] no working opencl library found. Continue with opencl disabled
[opencl_init] FINALLY: opencl is NOT AVAILABLE on this system.

Bug#749491: libpython2.7-dev hmac.py: cannot import name _compare_digest

2014-05-29 Thread Federico Bruni
Package: libpython2.7-dev
Followup-For: Bug #749491

To the OP: are you sure you are running python2.7.7? Because I cannot
reproduce the error in this version.

I stumbled upon this problem while using a virtualenv created with
python 2.7.6 (even if the python on my system is 2.7.7). Upgrading
the python in virtualenv to 2.7.7 fixed the problem for me.

Same problem here: debian testing.

gnome settingsdevicespictures.

Bug#651636: GtkLauncher segfaults on mipsel, JavaScript-related

2014-05-15 Thread Federico Bruni
Package: libwebkitgtk-1.0-0
Version: 2.4.2-1

I've tried the versions in unstable for both package 1.0 and 3.0,
but it keeps crashing.
Let me know if you need a backtrace and how I can produce it (I
see that things have changed.. where is GtkLauncher?).

Thanks

You can use MiniBrowser instead, which is the GtkLauncher equivalent
 for the WebKit2 API.

Yes, I guess it was MiniBrowser.
But when I tried it with gdb it said that the debugging symbols were not
available, even if I had installed all the relevant -dev packages.

WebKit2 has a split process model, so javascript will not crash the
UI, but WebKitWebProcess instead. JavaScript backtraces are usually
 not very useful, though :(

Unfortunately it still crashes with 2.4.1-2 (now in testing).
I might try 2.4.2-1 in unstable.

BTW, #689094 should be more appropriate, since we are
testing libwebkitgtk-3.0-0. Also I wonder if browsers
are using 3.0 or still 1.0

Bug#746643: OpenCL not supported by lastest NVIDIA driver

2014-05-13 Thread Federico Bruni
Package: nvidia-kernel-dkms
Version: 331.67-1
Followup-For: Bug #746643

I'm using kernel 3.13 instead of 3.14 (as Pascal). But I also cannot
use OpenCL in an application (darktable).

Here's some information:

$ lsmod | grep nvidia
nvidia 10647740 39
i2c_core 24092 2 i2c_i801,nvidia

# ls /var/lib/dkms/nvidia-current/331.67/3.13-1-amd64/x86_64/module/
nvidia-current.ko

I may try upgrading to the version in experimental if you think that
it may be solved there.
Thanks
Federico

Bug#746788: version 3.12

2014-05-06 Thread Federico Bruni
Olivier, in version 3.12 you can set the preferences to open a new tab
(instead of a new window) when you open a new terminal. This is my
preferred action.
Then if I want to detach a tab, I just drag it outside.

I like this new interface (as long as I know how to use it).

Bug#702241: gnome-packagekit: gpk-update-viewer does not update package index so falsely says is up to date.

I can confirm the same problem on Jessie.
gnome-settings-daemon is running. packagekitd was running, as you can see
  here:

$ ps aux | grep packagekit
  root 8267 0.0 0.0 316432 6372 ?Sl 10:43 0:00
  /usr/lib/packagekit/packagekitd

but now it's not running anymore. No idea of the reason.
The daemon is started on-demand and is shut down when not needed to
 save ressources.
That issues looks odd, I will upload a more recent version of GPK
soon, which might fix the problem.
 Cheers,,
 Matthias

Bug#728711: #728711: debootstrap bug?

2014-03-29 Thread Federico Bruni
I can confirm this bug, but I think that it's related to the
debootstrap package. As you can see in the attached screenshot, the log
is from debootstrap. It's the same for the OP.

I don't have any debian-installer package installed.

I have used live-build to build my own live cd.

Bug#659014: gnome-shell: Gnome 3 freezes as soon as I type g into an app search

2014-03-19 Thread Federico Bruni
2014-03-19 15:12 GMT+01:00 althaser altha...@gmail.com:

 Hey,

this is an old bug report.

Could you please still reproduce this issue with newer gnome-shell version
 like 3.4.2-7+deb7u1 or 3.8.4-5+b1 ?

It is working fine here with 3.8.4-5+b1.

 thanks

Bug#651636: GtkLauncher segfaults on mipsel, JavaScript-related

Can you please verify if you can still reproduce this bug?

In particular make sure that your webkitgtk version is at least 2.2.5,
since we fixed a couple of important crashes in that release.

I've installed the current version in unstable, version 2.2.5-1, but Midori
still crashes after few seconds while a page is loading.
Epiphany works better. Sometimes it can't open a page and reports an error,
but it never crashes.

Bug#731254: gedit: freezes when clicking Alt in non-english locale

2013-12-03 Thread Federico Bruni
Package: gedit
Version: 3.8.3-4
Severity: important

As soon as I press the Alt or the Ctrl button, gedit freezes.
The text cursor stops blinking and if I move the mouse cursor
over gedit window it disappears except when it's on the
title bar.

NOTE: this problem is not present when I run gedit in english:
LANG=C gedit

As you can see below, no plugin installed.
I cannot see any error on the terminale, so I'm having hard
time debugging it. I may try using gdb, but I cannot find
any gedit-debug package (or similar).

Can you please help?

Thanks
Federico

Bug#724731: [gdm3] gdm does not start properly, cannot login via gdm

2013-11-08 Thread Federico Bruni
Package: gdm3

Followup-For: Bug #724731

I managed to solve by removing and reinstalling the following packages,

When I reinstalled, I see more packages than those removed. Maybe it's
a hint to find the culprit of this bug?

Bug#724731:

2013-11-07 Thread Federico Bruni
Installing libpam-systemd worked on another laptop of mine, but it doesn't
work in a laptop which has the same debian version.
I've tried all the workarounds suggested here, but none works.

Please note that the same problem occurs if I use lightdm. I can login,
then the screen remains empty (only background image).

Bug#659014: (no subject)

2013-10-20 Thread Federico Bruni
I'm currently experiencing a similar problem if a type 'da' in the
search box. I see that X is kind of refreshed.. or sometimes it logs me
out of the session.

I guess it's dependent on some personal configuration.
I had added a darktable-git.desktop in ~/.local/share/applications/, so
I thought that it might be related. But even if I move it in the home
folder the problem persists.

Quite annoying.
Any hint for debugging this?

Thanks
Federico

Bug#723978: gedit-plugins: embedded terminal doesn't work anymore on version 3.8.3

2013-09-21 Thread Federico Bruni
Package: gedit-plugins
Version: 3.8.3-2
Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,

the ViewBottom pane is greyed out if only embedded terminal is enabled.
If I enable External tools, I can open the bottom pane but only
the tab Shell Output is visible.

I didn't have this problem with version 3.4.x
I think that it popped up as soon as I got version 3.8

If I run gedit from terminal and I play with enabling/disabling the plugin,
I see the following error messages:

Bug#703607: 703607

2013-05-11 Thread Federico Bruni
I've been using since a month the kernel 3.2.41 with the 8 patches provided
in this report and it worked great.
I'm wondering if these drivers will be included also in kernel 3.8 (just
landed in sid)..

I've tried to apply one of these patches to linux-source-3.8 but it didn't
work.

Thanks in advance
Federico

Bug#706552: gtranslator is not listed as application for .po files: something wrong in gtranslator.desktop?

2013-05-01 Thread Federico Bruni
Package: gtranslator
Version: 2.91.5-1
Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,

I've tried setting gTranslator as default application for .po files using the
Properties dialog of Nautilus.
But I can see only Poedit as default application and Gedit as alternative
application.
If I click on show other programs, gTranslator is not listed.
I had to add this string to ~/.local/share/applications/mimeapp.list:

[Added Associations]
text/x-gettext-translation=gtranslator.desktop;

But I think this should not be necessary.
Maybe this can help:

# cat /usr/share/applications/poedit.desktop | grep Mime
MimeType=application/x-po;application/x-gettext;text/x-gettext-translation;text/x-po;

# cat /usr/share/applications/gtranslator.desktop | grep Mime
MimeType=text/x-gettext-translation;text/x-gettext-translation-template;

Bug#704244: gtranslator: segmentation fault when searching with open--tran plugin

2013-03-30 Thread Federico Bruni
Package: gtranslator
Version: 2.91.5-1
Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,
I have the open-tran plugin enabled and it has worked fine at least until
3 weeks ago. Now I get a segmentation fault every time I search a word
in the open-tran search bar.

The terminal gives this output:

I paste also the backtrace (even if gdb says no debugging symbols found):

Bug#684369: chromium-browser: can't install chromium-browser on mipsel

2012-08-09 Thread Federico Bruni
Package: chromium-browser
Version: 20.0.1132.57~r145807-1
Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,

chromium-browser is a transitional dummy package which has
chromium (the new name of the package) as dependency.
The package chromium is missing from mipsel repository,
I don't know for which reason. So currently mipsel users
think they can install chromium but they can't.

Please package chromium for mipsel or remove chromium-browser
from mipsel.

Thanks,

Bug#651636: libwebkitgtk-1.0-0: GtkLauncher crashes while browsing websites

2012-04-28 Thread Federico Bruni
2012/4/28 Steven Chamberlain ste...@pyro.eu.org:
But that is not a webkit issue;  it was reported in libxi6 as #636920
 and recently fixed.

I still think the original issue you reported was a webkit bug, but you
may need to upgrade libxi6 to get clean backtraces.

I've pinned the version in unstable

On Lemote Yeeloong (with limited RAM and slow disk I/O) it might be
easier to run GtkLauncher not within gdb, but enable core dumping;  then
it will start up and run much faster, and you can produce a backtrace
 from the core file later.

Here's what I've done (as normal user):

ulimit -c 5
/usr/lib/webkitgtk-3.0-0/libexec/GtkLauncher

The program crashed immediately and I got a core file.

Here's the backtrace (hope it's correct):

Bug#651636: libwebkitgtk-1.0-0: GtkLauncher crashes while browsing websites

2011-12-10 Thread Federico Bruni
Package: libwebkitgtk-1.0-0
Version: 1.6.1-5+b1
Severity: important

Midori frequently and randomly crashes after 5 or 10 minutes I'm using it.
It's not about a specific website.

Running 'gdb midori' I realized that the segfault was in libwebkitgtk-1.0-0
So I run /usr/lib/webkitgtk-1.0-0/libexec/GtkLauncher and I got a segfault.
Unfortunately, if I type 'gdb /usr/lib/webkitgtk-1.0-0/libexec/GtkLauncher'
and then 'run', the command hangs forever (I have installed debug symbols):

 Terminal output

I don't have such a problem when using a laptop (same debian version).

Bug#649885: system-config-printer: job is in processing status even if completed successfully and jobs queue is not refreshed

2011-11-24 Thread Federico Bruni
Package: system-config-printer
Version: 1.2.3-3
Severity: normal

I'm using a network printer and I can print.
However the printer applet looks buggy:

1) the first job is in the processing status (I'm translating from my
language) even if the job is actually completed.
2) if I print another document, the print queue is not refreshed: I still see
the first job.
3) I can't cancel/delete the processing job.

If I close the program in the systray and launch it again from the terminal,
I can see that the queue is empty. If I print a new document, it's still empty.

When I open the print window in Evince, the status of all the network printers
is correct (switched on printers are ready to print and switched off printers
are unplugged or turned off).

The first time I noticed this problem was one month ago.
It was before I run into bug #603020 (Spurious 'printer not
connected?' message).

CUPS interface (http://localhost:631/jobs) is working fine.

You've got a manual install of liblcms2, which is causing this
failure.

Yes.
I've uninstalled the local install of lcms2 and now lilypond works fine.

Installing local copies of libraries that Debian also distributes is a
sure-fire way to lead to difficult to debug issues like this. You're
free to do that, but it's unreasonable to expect us to support it.

Ok, I'll keep in mind :-)

Thanks a lot for your patience!

Bug#646632: lilypond: Segmentation fault

2011-10-25 Thread Federico Bruni
Package: lilypond
Version: 2.14.2-2
Severity: grave
Justification: renders package unusable

Dear Maintainer,

I upgraded the package from previous version (2.12).
New version never worked. I get a segmentation fault with any
simple file, /usr/share/lilypond/2.14.2/ly/Welcome_to_LilyPond.ly
included.

I've tried purging and reinstalling from scratch, but no success.

Could you please explain how can I get a coredump from the file?

I've searched and found that I must allow the coredump with this command
(as user or root?):

ulimit -c unlimited

What's the next step?

Subject: libobjc3: may conflict with libobjc2
Package: libobjc3
Version: 4.6.0-10
Severity: normal

*** Please type your report below this line ***
I stumbled on this bug while compiling and trying to use The Unarchiver,
see this report:
http://code.google.com/p/theunarchiver/issues/detail?id=370

As I wrote there, while compiling I had this warning:

by /usr/lib/gcc/i486-linux-gnu/4.6.1/../../../../lib/libgnustep-base.so,
may conflict with libobjc.so.3

Then I tried to run the executables (unar and lsar) and I got a
segfault.
I run `gdb unar` to get more information and I found again libobjc.so.3
(see the full log in the attachment in the link above):

Program received signal SIGSEGV, Segmentation fault.
