Bug#868282: debhelper ?

2017-07-15 Thread GM
Can someone explain why virtualbox 5.1.22-dfsg-2 works without debhelper
package (I haven't installed it at all) and 5.1.22-dfsg-3 requires
debhelper 10.6.4 and it is even not in a dependency.

Bug#755736: Jessie Slow Boot (udev?)

2014-07-22 Thread GM

Package: udev
Version: 208-6

OS: 3.13-1-amd64 #1 SMP Debian 3.13.10-1 (2014-04-15) x86_64 GNU/Linux

Description: Using Jessie for months and booting fine. Latest "apt-get
update" and then "apt-get upgrade" as of 7-22-2014 results in very slow
boot. There seems to be known issue with udev. Running bootchart2, I
noticed also that udev was strung out. My observation of boot process
itself is consistent with report of 30 second delay and I noticed this
during "/dev population..." message.

Thank You,
Greg McPherran

Bug#544102: RESOLVED!

2009-08-28 Thread Rick Bolen (GM)
After reviewing the alsa-info.sh data I submitted I noticed that the
'Capture' devices were "off". Returning to alsamixer for the hundredth
time, and examining the 'Capture' gauges carefully, I see (for the first
time!) that there are dashes at the bottom of both capture gauges. The
up\down arrows raise and lower the gauge level, buy "m" key has no
effect. Viola, the toggles the 'Capture' gauges on\off.

Turning the 'Capture' gauges on (using ) enabled the internal
and external mics to be accessible to apps.

This was the first time in 10 years of using Debian that I've had to
enable Capture 'thingies'. Wasted enormous amount of time, but happy to
have things working, finally.

Should the default for Capture be 'off'?
