Bug#996433: transmission-daemon: Transmission fails to send mail using exim4

2024-04-19 Thread JT Hundley
If that's the official way to fix it, I think so. Hopefully this page stays
findable by search engines so that others trying to get Transmission to
send emails through Exim don't have to do all the troubleshooting that I
did :)
I've made this change to my system, thanks for the tip. I'm still learning
systemd.

Bug#1052062: plasma-desktop: Tab order of Application tab within an application's .desktop file is incorrect

2023-09-26 Thread JT Hundley
Ah, I thought the upstream people preferred to get bugs forwarded to keep
away the riff raff like me :) I'll go ahead and open a bug with KDE then.
Thank you for all that you do.

Bug#1052062: plasma-desktop: Tab order of Application tab within an application's .desktop file is incorrect

2023-09-16 Thread JT Hundley
Package: plasma-desktop
Version: 4:5.27.5-2
Severity: minor
Tags: a11y upstream

Dear Maintainer,

Steps to reproduce:
1. Right click on any .desktop file and select properties.
2. Click the Application tab at the top.
3. Press tab to cycle through the available LineEdit fields.
4. Observe that the order is Application tab, Name, Description,
Comment, Environment Variables, Program, Browse button, Work path,
browse work path button, Arguments.

The order is from top to bottom with the exception of Arguments being
skipped and then added last. The order should be completely top to
bottom. The end of the current order should be Program browse button,
Arguments, Work path, browse Work path button instead.

I'm pretty sure this is an upstream issue as it's also present in KDE
version 5.27.8 on EndeavorOS. Thank you for your time and hard work
making Debian badass. I apologize if this isn't the right package to
report this in.

Bug#996433: transmission-daemon: Transmission fails to send mail using exim4

2023-07-24 Thread JT Hundley
I've installed transmission 4.0.2 from testing and found that it reverted
my /etc/systemd/system/multi-user.target.wants/transmission-daemon.service
to have NoNewPrivileges=true which broke exim sending mail again. This bug
seems to still be present. Let me know if there's any other info I can
provide.

Bug#996433: transmission-daemon: Transmission fails to send mail using exim4

2023-06-15 Thread JT Hundley
I have no idea. I assume upgrading transmission wouldn't ask me to keep an
older file here and I did not modify any of these files until I ran into
the issue. I did that test on a fresh install which rules out me messing up
the files :)
Also, I'm not sure how I missed your email about this, sorry about that.
I'm not sure if this bug is still present in the current stable version. I
found this ticket after looking to make a new one for transmission in
Debian 12.

Bug#1037980: [Bug#1037980] Description of my bug

2023-06-15 Thread JT Hundley
I've noticed the same behavior. I upgraded from Debian 11 to 12 and
transmission-daemon memory usage just goes up and up until my system starts
swapping hard and becomes unresponsive. This morning I caught it in the act
and saw it using 90% of 16G RAM. At some points, I noticed that
transmission-daemon was no longer running and I assumed that it had stopped
starting at boot. Now I suspect that the oom killer killed it, but I
haven't seen the oom killer in my logs. The only thing I've really done so
far is restart transmission-daemon to avoid exhausting memory. I haven't
added more torrents or changed my configuration in any way. Please let me
know what I can do or what information I can provide to help fix this
issue. Thanks!

Bug#1016593: barrier: Barrier config file stored in a misleading dir

Package: barrier
Version: 2.3.3+dfsg-1.1
Severity: normal
Tags: upstream

Dear Maintainer,
The configuration file for Barrier is stored in
~/.config/Debauchee/Barrier.conf. Debauchee is the name of the developer/github
page. That name is only present in the about screen of the gui, I had to run
find to find this configuration file. The configuration dir should be changed
to be ~/.config/Barrier/Barrier.conf.

I thought my hard drive was dying so I immediately bought a new one and
replaced it. When I restored my backup to the new drive, I noticed the same
errors happening on the backup drive, which happens to be the same model as the
drive I replaced. I thought there was no way that both of these drives failed
at the exact same time, since the backup drive is only spun up once a week.

The new drive is a different model and doesn't report any errors. I plugged the
replaced drive into a different machine and booted knoppix which was running
kernel 3.9.6 and didn't see any of the errors I saw before after reading a
bunch of the drive and copying 14G.

When troubleshooting I was able to find this Fedora bug report that seems
relevant: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1351305

My errors would show up more or less constantly. From my troubleshooting, I've
confirmed that:
My computer and USB bus is functioning normally (the new USB drive doesn't
generate errors)
Neither hard drive is bad like I originally believed (no problem using the
drive in another computer)
The last thing I did before this problem started happening was to upgrade my
system to the new minor version of Debian stable.

The hard drives in question are this one:
https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822152425 "SAMSUNG D3
Station 5TB USB 3.0 3.5" Desktop External Hard Drive STSHX-D501TDB Black"

Please let me know what I can do to help get this bug resolved. I fear that if
I continue to use these drives I won't be able to catch real hardware failures
and that performances may be impacted by this. Thanks!

Bug#820718: lightyears: Incorrect Homepage URL

Dear Maintainer,

http://www.jwhitham.org.uk/20kly/ but it should be
http://www.jwhitham.org/20kly/ (without the .uk)

Thanks!

Bug#599002: Another outdated option in the man page

2014-12-05 Thread JT Hundley
There is another outdated option in the man page.
The man page says to use --datacd to burn a data cd, however when you run
k3b --help it states that the correct option is --data. k3b --help is
correct that --data is used to burn a data cd.

Bug#458421: followup

2007-12-30 Thread JT Hundley
Actually, it doesn't overwrite the files, it leaves the duplicate
files unmoved. Still weird behavior that could be explained better
to the user.

I purged Icedove and reinstalled, same problem. I even moved my
abook.mab file out of my icedove profile to see if I could make new
cards; it wouldn't. I tried leaving my abook.mab there and deleting
both address books within the program, that didn't help. I'm
thinking about nuking my profile and then reimporting as much data
as I can.

Bug#417988: k3b: Similar bug with data

2007-04-05 Thread JT Hundley
Followup-For: Bug #413755
Package: k3b

When copying a data CD, k3b will give up on the whole process if it
can't eject the source disc. This includes removing the image files. I
had the source disc mounted and was looking at its contents. It seems
like k3b should do anything except abort the process, maybe ask the user
to insert a blank disc.

Bug#368049: Confirmation of bug

Version: 4:3.5.5-3

I'm currently suffering from this bug as well, exactly as described
by the original submitter. I'm using a Canon Powershot A540. I've
lost two movies because I dragged and dropped a movie from my camera
to my desktop and got an empty file. I installed gtkam to get my
movie, worked fine. I just recorded and tried to transfer a bunch of
movies, here are my findings: Files less than 11.7M will transfer,
files larger than 17.8M will not.

Bug#413440: iceweasel script opens all URLs twice in a new page

2007-03-04 Thread JT Hundley
Package: iceweasel
Version: 2.0.0.2+dfsg-2
Severity: important

When clicking on a link from another application or running iceweasel
debian.org, the link will open in a new window (despite being set to
use existing windows). The link will be opened twice. Running sh -x
iceweasel debian.org shows this happening:
+ exec /usr/lib/iceweasel/firefox-bin slashdot.org slashdot.org -a
firefox

I found that the section of the script responsible for handling local
filesystem URLs is responsible.

Bug#376982: xscreensaver: webcollage and vidwhacker depend on netpbm.

2006-07-05 Thread JT Hundley
Package: xscreensaver
Version: 4.24-4
Severity: normal

-BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-

The vidwhacker graphics hack included with xscreensaver will not run
without the netpbm package. It fails with non-descriptive error:
vidwhacker: 0-length data

webcollage however complains that a program that is a part of netpbm is
not in your PATH.

Maybe instructions to install netpbm could be displayed graphically when
the hack fails to run.

Bug#365759: konversation: Server tab is blank while reconnecting.

Package: konversation

To reproduce, connect to one network and join some channels.
Next, /quit. No tabs should be open now and only the menu bar is
visible. Bring up the Server List window and reconnect. You'll see the
server tab, but the area where the output generated by connecting is
blank. There is no text field at all. When you get connected, you can switch
tabs to a
channel and then back to the server tab to fix the problem.
