Bug#787505: libnss3: NSS 3.19.1 breaks icedove IMAPS to server with DH 786 temp key
Package: libnss3 Followup-For: Bug #787505 I was bitten by this also. My imapd server was a rather dull courier-imap-ssl server, and the DH key length was left as is since its installation (probably etch). My config file was mostly untouched, and no warning came. I followed the procedure here : http://apple.stackexchange.com/questions/206448/imap-account-stopped-working-after-upgrade-to-ios-9-problem-with-cacert-certif?answertab=active#tab-top and it worked fine. -- System Information: Debian Release: 8.2 APT prefers stable APT policy: (950, 'stable'), (200, 'unstable'), (80, 'experimental') Architecture: amd64 (x86_64) Foreign Architectures: i386 Kernel: Linux 3.16.0-4-amd64 (SMP w/2 CPU cores) Locale: LANG=fr_FR.utf8, LC_CTYPE=fr_FR.utf8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/bash Init: systemd (via /run/systemd/system)

Bug#745844: usbmuxd 1.0.9 fixes all
Using the git tree of usbmuxd as of today (but there were no changes in the last 20 days), and recompiling usbmuxd (that was a bit of an effort, especially as the latest version is not tagged), I now have a splendid (old) iphone working perfectly as a relay for internet. The files are mounted, and I thing ios7 even works for this one. And it looks like they all point to segfaults when not using usbmudx version 1.0.9. Following on that, I read this: https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=746634 I have no time today to test with an updated usbmuxd, but after reading these reports, I'm pretty sure a dependency is in order. Bug#703485: linux-image-3.8-trunk-amd64: Battery not detected on Dell Latitude E5530
Package: src:linux Version: 3.8.3-1~experimental.1 Severity: normal Dear Maintainer, While trying to resolve stability issues with the testing linux image, I tried kernel 3.8 in experimental. I fully understand that this kernel may not be used in production. However, when booting with this kernel, the battery is not detected (and thus, laptop-detect thinks that it is a desktop computer, which it is not). Bug#577635: cm-super-minimal: ships /usr/share/texmf/doc as a directory, not a link
Package: cm-super-minimal Version: 0.3.4-3 Severity: normal Tags: patch This package ships documentation under /usr/share/texmf/doc, which is in tex-common a link to /usr/share/doc/texmf. After some sleep and re-reading some of my changelog entries, this isn't quite as simple as it seemed yesterday. * I do not understand why /etc/sudoers is not simply a conffile, especially now that /etc/sudoers.d is supported. History and inertia, mostly. The current processing actually pre-dates clean conffile handling by dpkg, and largely pre-dates my taking over the sudo package from Michael Meskes in 1996. The one reason I can remember this morning to not just replace the current handling without further thought is that removing sudoers on purge can cause problems for people moving systems between sudo and sudo-ldap. Leaving the sudoers file in place on a purge was deemed the least evil choice the last time I reviewed this functionality in April of 2007 in response to #401366. However, since sudo and sudo-ldap conflicts with each other, if the rm is made on purge, it is not purged because of conflicts (only deinstalled). You could also have a sudo-common, which owns the files. And in fact, I think the best solution would be to do what some databases do, and would correspond to what you aim to do with the other files: namely, preventing losing root access for people using sudo as sole root access. Ask a question with debconf about whether /etc/sudoers should be deleted on purge, and if it is yes, then delete. People having a root password will gladly say it should be cleaned, and people going to some length to have no root password will simply say no. But well, it is more work. * the stanza with update-rc.d looks like it will not change anything In most cases, it won't. The code is there because a very old version of sudo created an inappropriate set of links for the startup script fragment. This stanza caused any lingering instances of that mess to be cleaned up. It has been enough years that we can probably remove that code with no penalty... but it certainly does no harm. In fact, what I meant is: It won't do anything because the man page for update-rc.d says: ~When invoked with the remove option, update-rc.d removes any links in ~the /etc/rcrunlevel.d directories to the script /etc/init.d/name. The ~script must have been deleted already. If the script is still present ~then update-rc.d aborts with an error message. which means that in the postinst (where the script is always present), it will never do anything. Anyway, nice having some explanations. I feel more knowledgeable tonight. Bug#570623: reprepro: please add multiple version management
Package: reprepro Version: 4.0.2-1 Severity: wishlist Currently, indices built by reprepro only show the latest version of a package. I really would like to use reprepro to have an archive with multiple versions of a package accessible (eg for rollback). currently I do something like that after each addition to the repository: cd debian apt-ftparchive generate conf/storage.conf apt-ftparchive -c conf/releasestorage.conf release dists/storage dists/storage/Release if [ -f dists/storage/Release.gpg ]; then rm dists/storage/Release.gpg fi gpg --output dists/storage/Release.gpg -ba dists/storage/Release cd .. Bug#518566: [pkg-nvidia-devel] Bug#518566: get rid of modprobe warning about /etc/modprobe.d/nvidia-kernel-nkc
On Thu, 11 Feb 2010 08:01:58 -0500, James Vega james...@debian.org wrote: Is there a chance of getting the below patch applied at some point? It's fairly straight forward and will be required when the modprobe finally stops loading files from /etc/modprobe.d that don't end in .conf. This patch is a bit incomplete. It does not deal with the case where the upgrade fails. A postrm is needed to get the old configuration file back in this case (a corner case, admittedly). I have prepared such a patch. I have (as announced on the mailing-list) a nvidia-kernel-common package which resolves all declared bugs, and some others. Or modify ssh-agent and gpg-agent to return if their functionality was overridden, for example checking SSH_AGENT_OVERRIDE and GPG_AGENT_OVERRIDE (which could be defined by 60seahorse or any other replacement of their functionalities. -- System Information: Debian Release: squeeze/sid APT prefers unstable APT policy: (800, 'unstable'), (700, 'testing'), (500, 'stable'), (50, 'experimental') Architecture: amd64 (x86_64) Kernel: Linux 2.6.32-trunk-amd64 (SMP w/2 CPU cores) Locale: LANG=fr_FR.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=fr_FR.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/bash Versions of packages seahorse-plugins depends on: ii gconf22.28.0-1 GNOME configuration database syste ii libatk1.0-0 1.28.0-1 The ATK accessibility toolkit ii libbonobo2-0 2.24.2-1 Bonobo CORBA interfaces library ii libbonoboui2-02.24.2-1 The Bonobo UI library ii libc6 2.10.2-5 Embedded GNU C Library: Shared lib ii libcairo2 1.8.8-2The Cairo 2D vector graphics libra ii libcryptui0 2.28.1-1 the UI library for DBUS functions ii libdbus-1-3 1.2.16-2 simple interprocess messaging syst ii libdbus-glib-1-2 0.84-1 simple interprocess messaging syst ii libfontconfig12.8.0-2generic font configuration library ii libfreetype6 2.3.11-1 FreeType 2 font engine, shared lib ii libgconf2-4 2.28.0-1 GNOME configuration database syste ii libglade2-0 1:2.6.4-1 library to load .glade files at ru ii libglib2.0-0 2.22.4-1 The GLib library of C routines ii libgnome-keyring0 2.28.2-1 GNOME keyring services library ii libgpgme111.2.0-1.2 GPGME - GnuPG Made Easy ii libgtk2.0-0 2.18.6-1 The GTK+ graphical user interface ii libgtksourceview2.0-0 2.8.2-1shared libraries for the GTK+ synt ii libnautilus-extension12.28.4-1 libraries for nautilus components ii libnotify1 [libnotify1-gtk2.1 0.4.5-1sends desktop notifications to a n ii libpanel-applet2-02.28.0-3 library for GNOME Panel applets ii libpango1.0-0 1.26.2-1 Layout and rendering of internatio ii seahorse 2.28.1-1 GNOME front end for GnuPG Versions of packages seahorse-plugins recommends: ii openssh-client1:5.3p1-1 secure shell (SSH) client, for sec seahorse-plugins suggests no packages. -- no debconf information -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. This is because you didn't set DEBEMAIL with your name; you can set: DEBEMAIL=Loïc Minier l...@dooz.org We should deal with this better, but this is going to be subtle; checkout the code of dch for reference handling of these vars: if (exists $env{'DEBEMAIL'} and $env{'DEBEMAIL'} =~ /^(.*)\s+(.*)$/) { $env{'DEBFULLNAME'} = $1 unless exists $env{'DEBFULLNAME'}; $env{'DEBEMAIL'} = $2; } if (! exists $env{'DEBEMAIL'} or ! exists $env{'DEBFULLNAME'}) { if (exists $env{'EMAIL'} and $env{'EMAIL'} =~ /^(.*)\s+(.*)$/) { $env{'DEBFULLNAME'} = $1 unless exists $env{'DEBFULLNAME'}; $env{'EMAIL'} = $2; } } the logic continues for some dozens of lines. In an ideal world, consider making this code a separate utility, e.g. get-debian-maintainer which would output: EMAIL=foo...@baz NAME=Foo Bar Thanks! However, other debian utilities expect DEBEMAIL to be only the email and DEBFULLNAME to be only the name (depatch for example). Bug#554773: cupt: Wrong computation of preferences/pinning
Eugene V. Lyubimkin a écrit : David Kalnischkies wrote: (i guess we simply have a different understanding of version in this context and therefore different behavior in apt vs. cupt) Yes, seems so. 2009/11/23 Eugene V. Lyubimkin jackyf.de...@gmail.com: - one for each origin/release/distribution (e.g. sid or ) I don't understand this one. And anyway it isn't stated anywhere, so it doesn't count. In The Effect of APT Preferences it is said: The general form assigns a priority to all of the package versions in a given distribution (that is, to all the versions of packages that are listed in a certain Release file) or to all of the package versions coming from a particular Internet site, as identified by the site´s fully qualified domain name. (I have quoted the first few words already in my first mail) That phrase doesn't say anything about the same version entry treating is multiple ones, one for each Packages which it belongs to. So why it is not stated somewhere and therefore doesn't count? The versions from a different distribution/origin doesn't have a pin assigned yet, so another pin-setting can match them. Yes, for cupt they all are the same version (which I considered natural). This concept is one of libcupt's cornerstones. Jean-Christophe, now it's up to you to decide which point you support. If the bug got reassigned to libcupt in the end, I will mark it 'wontfix'. I don't want to play reassigning ping-pong as well. My reading is now the same as yours (Eugen) : The APT preferences file /etc/apt/preferences and the fragment files in the /etc/apt/preferences.d/ folder can be used to control which versions of packages will be selected for installation. Several versions of a package may be available for installation when the sources.list(5) file contains references to more than one distribution (for example, stable and testing). APT assigns a priority to each version that is available. The crux of the problem is the definition of a version. Either the documentation in apt_preferences man page (which belongs to apt) is fixed to say that a package version is the tuple (name,version_number,somethingelse) or a package version is indeed the tuple (name,version_number) which is the most natural for a _version_ of a _package_. For now, I think that a package version is a package and a version number. APT assigns a priority to each version that is available (quoting the man page), and one priority only. I am quite sure that if the documentation were to be fixed, certainly Eugen would (with is cupt developer hat on) would consider a package version to be whatever the documentation says it should be. -- Jean-Christophe Dubacq -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. Try uninstall it if possible or look at .htaccess in roundcube root directory. I am not sure that php-* flags work when running PHP as FCGI. I had php5-suhosin installed yes (probably from a former installation). Purging it did the trick. A note in the documentation would help. Sorry? There is no such thing as the Bonjour protocol. Bonjour is a trademark registered by apple for a suite of different technologies. Also this is not translated by the french translators, the protocol in add accounts is Salut in every language. Salut being our implementation of XMPP XEP-0174. If one is very strict we should call the protocol serverless XMPP messaging or similar, but that's not actually helpful to anyone. Anyway, this is not a bug, closing the report OK. It is just very strange looking and it really will let people think that this is a translation error. Moreover, Pidgin calls it Bonjour and when you import accounts, it shows up as Salut (which is really the same thing as Good day and Hello). Quite confusing, indeed. However, I may file a bug against pidgin (indeed, they are not using Bonjour® as a name without using the official Bonjour source, only Avahi the free software equivalent). -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe.
