Bug#803647: [Pkg-gambas-devel] Bug#803647: Bug#803647: No solution for llvm and gambas (for now)

2016-01-07 Thread José Luis Redrejo Rodríguez
Only while llvm-3.5 stays in sid, and even for that case it's not a good
policy. We can do it for the good of the users for sometime. Maybe gambas
developer will update the library in the meantime. If you agree I can do
it, if not the only solution is disabling llvm component from being built
in the packaging.

Thanks very much for your patch.
I will apply it in next release of the package.
Anyway the package has been abandon by the developer several years ago, so
It's unlikely new versions will be available.

Hi Gianfranco, thanks for your help.
I am afraid I won't have time to work in the package until next Christmas

Any fix you can add in the meantime is welcome. If you can't I will do it

Yes, there are two things to do to accelerate it:
1) helping with the packaging
2) convincing my boss to give me more free time

So I'd go for 1, or you will have to be patient until I get time to
finish the polish and checks for the latest version.
Sorry for the inconveniences.

Bug#714836: Any news on the qucs package?

2015-02-21 Thread José Luis Redrejo Rodríguez
2015-02-21 12:46 GMT+01:00 Ruben Undheim ruben.undh...@gmail.com:

 Hi,

I've just uploaded it to the archive

I just saw this was written in October. As far as I can see, Qucs is
not available in the Debian repository now. Is there anything holding
 it up?

Yes, the sources contain some files which license is not acceptable by
Debian ftpmaster, so it has been rejected.

Which archive did you upload it too?

I can see that there is a well maintained PPA for Ubuntu with packages
 in good state here:
 https://launchpad.net/~fransschreuder1/+archive/ubuntu/qucs

Is there any reason why this package cannot enter Debian sid also
soon. I'm impressed of how well Qucs has become.

Yes, it is not a pure technical question. The package was ready, working
and lintian clean.
It 's a licensing problem. There are a bunch of files (mainly models) with
non-free licenses. I'm trying to clean them all, but qucs funcionality are
being reduced.
I'm trying to find a replacement to keep it all working.
Of course, the ppa package you say it's still worse in terms of licensing.
I had already removed the files I was sure that were not free, but
ftpmasters found some others.

José L.

Bug#777696: python-web2py: Provide an example apache2 conf file instead of ambiguous instructions

Hi, thanks for your suggestions. You have told me a typo (a2ensite), but
you say you found a few, it will be great if you tell what are those

 old
one and to the one you purpose, but not exactly equal.
I don't see the 'coin' word in your AliasMatch files. Also I have added a
WSGIPassAuthorization On directive to allow web2py manage the login
  authorization bypassing apache restrictions.

Sorry, I don't remember what was incorrect in details, but I guess the
README should be tested by a naive user, which would be the best way to
 test it ;-)

Sure, I will try, there's a Debian list for this, but it's hard if you
don't know the context.
OTOH, about your considerations on the
the directory where your web2py application dir is located
it is not /usr/share/web2py/ . It is the place where you run web2py, with
the package you can run it where you want. Usually at $HOME.
A normal user can not put his applications in /usr...

As the apache .conf file goes, I noticed that upstream ships (now, don't
know for earlier releases) an install script for Debian which is
supposed to generate the .conf file.

 https://github.com/web2py/web2py/blob/master/scripts/setup-web2py-debian-sid.sh

Maybe its output ought to be compared to the one provided by the
maintainer... and differences explicitely highlighted or reported as a
 bug to upstream ?

There are no differences in the conf file, excepting in the way it is
installed. The script doesn't do it in a Debian way and imposes how the ssl
certificates are created or install some packages (like postfix) to the
user. The debian package doesn't do these impositions.

Regards.
José L.

 Hope this helps.

 Package: python-web2py

 Dear Maintainer,

The provided README.Debian gives instructions on how to adapt the provided
apache2 conf files but the paths to be used are quite ambiguous.

The the directory where your web2py application dir is located is quite
vague... AFAIU, it corresponds to the provided /usr/share/web2py/
Also, what does the directory where web2py applications are installed
mean : same as above ?

Maybe, instead, I think it would be far easier (or in addition to these
instructions) to provide a ready to use .conf file that could work out of
the box with the provided example apps (should they be kept in
 /usr/share/web2py/applications/ btw ?).

For instance, the following file allows to serve the provided example

I've just uploaded it to the archive. I haven't had time to fix a couple of

needs some verilog files with a license that's not considered dfsg. I've
been considering removing asco too because it's not in a good shape, but
finally I've left it in the sources without compiling it to avoid
introducing a bunch of dirty binaries in the package.

Bug#689658: web2py package update

2014-03-24 Thread José Luis Redrejo Rodríguez
Sorry, but I can not upload your packaging for several reasons:
- First of all, this package has already a maintainer, you can not
hijack it on your own
- Secondly, I'm already working on the pacakging of the latest version
2.9.5, not 2.9.4
- Also, I don't agree with some of the changes you've done to the
packaging. I'm open to work with others with this package. It has some
problems I haven't solved in the last two years, due to the way web2py
deals with files placed at applications modules directory. Any help on
this topic is very welcome. But the changes in its debianization
should be discussed among the people who are working on the packaging,
or at least, with the current official maintaner.

So, if you want to collaborate, your opinions, help and work are
welcome, but if you want to hijack the package, I'm sorry but it's not
possible because I'm still working on it.

Regards.

2014-03-23 21:23 GMT+01:00 Matus Valo matusv...@gmail.com:
 Hi Jose,

I found out that package web2py is outdated in debian (there is also raised
bug #689658 reporting this issue), so I decided to package newer version
(2.9.4). Hence, I am requesting sponsorship for this package. The URL of
 the package is:

 http://mentors.debian.net/package/web2py

The respective dsc file can be found at:

 http://mentors.debian.net/debian/pool/main/w/web2py/web2py_2.9.4-1.1.dsc

All my changes are recored in the changelog. I am aware of one dependency
problem. The package python-gluon is python library package and it has
hardcoded path of the splash logo ( in widget.py file), but this file is
installed with package python-web2py and hence widget.py file is broken when
 python-gluon is installed without python-web2py.

how you use your system, it might be a bad idea. Anyway, many people
(I'm among them) use testing (or even unstable) in their daily home
computers and keep stable in servers or corporative environments.

 Hi,

In version stable wheezy the version of libc6 is 2.13, but the package qucs
 0.17 needs libc6 2.14.

The libc6 is used by a large number of program in Debian, so I'm affraid to
 upgrade libc6 to 2.14.

Are there an important risk for stability of my system if I do that ?

 Thanks

Bug#731487: [Pkg-gambas-devel] fixes

2014-02-12 Thread José Luis Redrejo Rodríguez
I have no problem if more uploaders are added to the Gambas Debian
Maintainers group. It's a question of joining the group in alioth.
A different topic is knowing the state of the current debianization in
git. Is it ready to be uploaded?
I have almost no free time for real life reasons. The problem is not
uploading the packages, building and compiling them is something
mostly automated.
If other members of the group have checked them properly I can upload
them this evening, but if after compiling them, lintians complains
with a lot of messages, I will need days or weeks to fix them all.

So in brief, if those who have modified the debianization since the
last upload confirms they are in a good shape, I'll compile, check and
upload them inmediately.

Regards.
José L.

2014-02-12 9:55 GMT+01:00 Ian Haywood ihaywo...@gmail.com:
Ok, it's now two months since a fix was posted.

Is there anyone listening who can do an NMU?

IMHO it's clear with the best will in the world we can't rely solely on
Jose to maintain the packages. Is there any way the number of people who
 upload be expanded?
Specifically, can I and/or some other gambas people be authorised as
 debian maintainers for gambas3?

The reason I ask is this problem is only going to get worse as gambas
upstream gets more modules, and once we have a working gambas3 in Debian
other gambas-based projects are going to come forward looking for inclusion.

 Dear maintainer,

The Debian Qt/KDE team is planning to remove the KDE3 and Qt3 libraries from
Debian shortly after the Squeeze release. The transition phase to KDE4 and
 Qt4
will finish since both KDE and Nokia upstream don't maintain the old versions
 of those libraries anymore.

In order to make this move, all packages directly or indirectly depending on
the KDE3/Qt3 libraries have to either get ported to KDE4/Qt4 or eventually
 get
 removed from the Debian repositories.

Therefore, please take the time and:
 - contact your upstream (if existing) and ask about the state of a KDE4/Qt4
 port of your application
 - if there are no activities regarding porting, investigate whether there are
 suitable alternatives for your users
 - if there is a KDE4/Qt4 port that is not yet packaged, consider packaging it
 - if both the KDE3/Qt3 and the KDE4/Qt4 version already coexist in the Debian
archives, consider removing the KDE3/Qt3 version

Documentation on how to port to KDE4 can be found at:
 http://techbase.kde.org/index.php?title=Development/Tutorials/KDE4_Porting_Guide

Documentation on how to port to Qt4 can be found at:
 http://doc.qt.nokia.com/4.7/porting4.html

 Hello maintainer(s),

One year and a half later, it is about time to remove Qt3.
Please, migrate to the Qt4 version (if existing) or file for removal of your
 package.

 Thanks,
 Ana

I can upload a version with this patch this weekend if you need it for

 Hi,

Removing the KDE3 support just broken pgdesigner, without any solution

 lead anywhere (upstream not cooperative).

Is there a solution in sight ? If no, I'm afraid I'll be forced to

There is no solution, and won't be anyone unless gambas3 is packaged,
but upstream is not going to work with gambas2 to solve this problem.

After fighting with some other problems because of qt3 I think I will
have to remove gambas2 from Debian soon too.

Bug#618662: ltsp-controlaula: /etc/init.d/ltsp-sirvecole shuts pc down after boot

2011-03-17 Thread José Luis Redrejo Rodríguez
That's a normal behaviour, you can check at
http://www.itais.net/en/admin.html

The option SeApaga, if it is set to 1 it will shutdown the client
when there is no ping response from the teacher computer. This option
is activated the first time a teacher contact a student pc.

So, you don't need to remove the S05-ltsp-sirvecole link, just add a
file called:
/etc/sirvecole
at your chroot, with the text.
[General]
SeApaga=0

and it will work right.

Anyway, this option is removed in the new controlaula version that I'm
going to upload to Debian very soon.

2011/3/17 yanu lie...@gmail.com:
 Package: ltsp-controlaula
 Version: 1.4.0-1
 Severity: grave
 Justification: renders package unusable

When starting the pc, 2-5s after the inlogprompt appears, the pc shuts down.
I found that /etc/init.d/ltsp-sirvecole is the reason, i deleted
 S05-ltsp-sirvecole
and now, all boots, exept ltsp-sirvecole.

 Hola José Luis!

Hola!

Stuff using Qt3 can be kept in the archive for now at least (and
it might even make into weezy if somebody else step up to maintain
 qt3)

These are great news, not only for this package, if you've read above
upstream comments to removing qt3, he complains because he (and more
people) thinks qt3 is faster and allows doing more things than qt4.
I hope some brave people dare to keep qt3 in the archive.

What we are trying to remove currently is kdelibs from KDE3
and Lisandro's patch remove this part from gambas2. So if you could
do an upload of gambas2 based in Lisandro's work great, if you
think the best is a removal anyway, I trust your judgement here.

I'll try it this evening. In the past I even tried compiling gambas
with kde4, I'll check if the kde component can be kept compiling
against kdelibs5-dev

Thanks for your information.

Cheers

Hi, Lisandro, I'm taking a look at it. There's no way to compile it
with kdelibs5-dev, so kde support must be removed. Anyway, there are
some files to patch in the sources, it's not enough with the debian
files, as gambas informer preloads kde. Also, the gambas2-gb-gui
package description you modified in your patch must not be changed: as
we can continue using qt, it keeps the same behaviour: when running a
gambas application in kde it will use qt libraries, and gtk otherwise.

I hope to have it finished tonight or tomorrow.

Thanks for your help.

That means that even when the correct switch is passed to configure it
 still finds kde 3?

it tries to preload it because these libraries are harcoded :
main/gbc/gbi.c: preload(argv, libqt-mt.so.3
libkdecore.so.4);
main/gbx/gbx_library.c:add_preload(env, libkdecore.so.4);

and gives error messages because it can not find them if kde3 is not installed.

I've verified that making that change is enough to produce a

one thing) but it doesn't get used to produce the curl-based library.

Bug#606174: [pkg-dhcp-devel] Bug#606174: isc-dhcp-server-ldap: Package does not include a dhcp schema

2010/12/7 Munroe sol...@digiraticonsulting.com:
 Package: isc-dhcp-server-ldap
 Version: 4.1.1-P1-12
 Severity: important

It would be beneficial to include the correct DHCP schema with the package.
Further, as slapd in squeeze defaults to cn=config, the schema would be best
 if provided in LDIF format

I don't think this bug should have an important severity for two reasons:
- the schema must be installed in the ldap server, not in the dhcp
server, so the isc-dhcp-server-ldap package must/can not do anything
with the schema. Also, it's very common the ldap server (with its
schemas) is in a different machine.
- the isc-dhcp-server-ldap package already includes a schema, at
/usr/share/doc/isc-dhcp-server-ldap/dhcp.schema.gz . This schema is
used and tested in lenny. I don't know if it can be used in squeeze as
it is. If not, you're probably partially right and it should be fixed.

  Hi

I tried many time, but still got problem with IceWeasel-Firefox /
Eclipse binary part that is in fact prebuilt.

These parts are for the hosted mode browser or also for the gwt compiler.
In fact, to be able to upload gwt based applications to Debian, we would
only need to have in Debian the gwt compiler.
Maybe splittiing gwt in parts and trying to work in the easier first
  might be a good approach.

Good idea, I didn't pay attention this would be possible

If you want to help on
this, and have some time, maybe try to get some explanation from
  upstream dev about this part.

I have not much time, but I'm really interested in having the compiler
in Debian, so if the eclipse/iceweasel stuff can be overrided this way,
maybe we could work together with upstream to get this first target.

If you have got some trick or patch just to build the compiler, removing
binary stuffs, It would help me, but I'm not sure compiler don't use any
 native stuffs.

It should probably go in java packaging project when it's done.

Sure, I'm sure that there are a lot of people of this project with more
  java knowledge than me.

Most definitely I want to work together with you on this - it simply felt
from the outside that progress was stalled, and I imagined that perhaps your
 interest in it had stagnated.

yeah, it was stalled, but not by my lack of interest, but because I had been
waiting (too much, for sure) an anwer and help from the Squeak community. A
push from someone else makes me wake up again

I am (somewhat) aware of the peculiarities of both the VM and the world on
top of it, but am thankful for any repitition/clarification, and *very*
happy to learn that you are still interested in it - as my interest - for
now at least - is in packaging and maintaining (to reach a complete core
Sugar environment) , not in using the tools.

Ok, so, then, maybe the package must also consider it's also going to be
used inside sugar and maybe some changes must be done to fit it in such
environment.

I have requested membership of that Alioth team. Let's take it from there.

I've given you admin rights, feel free to touch whatever you want. And after
knowing the current state of the packages, if you think that packaging new
versions following the previous work, not waiting any more for any help from
the Squeakers is a good idea, I think we could do an upload next week. I'm
still following the squeak-dev mailing lists, so I'm updated with latest
changes in the vm and the etoys image, and the packages might be ready with
a few hours of work.

Cheers
José L.

 Kind regards,

  - Jonas

Bug#559057: etoys: New upstream version available: 4.0.2339

2009-12-01 Thread José Luis Redrejo Rodríguez
Hi Jonas.
First of all, I'd be glad if you hijack the packages, but I'd like to
explain to you their current situation:

- etoys: it has some important bugs related to the way the squeak image is
bootstraped. Now it's impossible to technically confirm that the whole image
is free, because it's impossible to rebuild the image from scratch. There is
an effort in the squeak community to make that possible, but the steps are
being taken very slowly. That's why I haven't updated that package. Redo the
package with the new image is easy and can be done pretty fast, so you won't
have problems with this package.

-squeak-vm: I'd like to continue maintaining this package, but there was
inside the squeak community some people (Bert among them) who didn't like
the way I do the package because they have done a different debianization.
The problem is the way the package is focused: I focused it to use Squeak in
education, so I added desktop integration, mime types and launchers for
kde/gnome. They focused the package in using squeak to develop, so the
launcher is console based, allowing more parameters to launch squeak in
different ways. Trying to solve this problem I created an alioth project:
https://alioth.debian.org/projects/pkg-squeak/ , I added the other people
as administrator and developper and upload my debianization (that includes
some fixes for the current package in Debian). That was seven months ago,
and since then, no one has added anything or argue anything in the mailing
lists. So, I'm a little frozen with the package, as I could do a new upload
with my debianization, but I would like to do it together with the rest of
the people who have worked on it inside the Squeak community. I've used
Squeak a lot , and know pretty well the image and smalltalk, but about the
vm, I do know that there are people there who know much better its insides.

Squeak is a really weird project inside the Debian rules, and its
debianization have some problems that are really hard to solve inside
Debian.
So, now you know the situation, and can decide: you can continue what I did
and ignore the problems that both, Debian and Squeak communities are
raising, or try to fight against the giants of the different egos to fix
them. In any case, you have my support if you hijack the packages, or if you
want my help to do new uploads.

Cheers.

 Hi,

Bert Freudenberg announced a new version recently, and also at earlier
occasions mentioned that this package and the underlying squeak-vm seems
 unmaintained for quite some time.

Would it be ok with you that I hijack these packages and move it to be
team-maintained under the umbrella of the OLPC Alioth team?

 Kind regards,

Here is a corrected version of it.

Bug#547362: FTBFS: The package fails to build because of a bad conversion from const char* to char*

This made the package FTBFS on Ubuntu karmic which already uses the new gcc
 version.

Hm, as I checked the new version of gambas2 in Debian I see that upstream
has fixed those invalid conversions by casting the const char* to char*.
(I only checked the Debian changelog to see if there was a patch introduced
which fixes the conversions. But I did not check if upstream fixed that for
 themselves. Sorry.)

But the second patch which is in my new debdiff still should be of interest
because the getPDFVersion() function has been removed in libpoppler.

This has also been fixed upstream:
http://gambas.svn.sourceforge.net/viewvc/gambas/gambas/branches/2.0/gb.pdf/src/CPdfDocument.cpp?r1=2266r2=2265pathrev=2266

it's available in gambas 2.16 that I plan to upload to Debian a.s.a.p.

Bug#402841: any progress with gwt?

2009-09-05 Thread José Luis Redrejo
2009/7/21 Christian BAYLE ba...@debian.org

Maybe splittiing gwt in parts and trying to work in the easier first might
be a good approach.

If you want to help on
this, and have some time, maybe try to get some explanation from
 upstream dev about this part.

I have not much time, but I'm really interested in having the compiler in
Debian, so if the eclipse/iceweasel stuff can be overrided this way, maybe
we could work together with upstream to get this first target.

It should probably go in java packaging project when it's done.

Sure, I'm sure that there are a lot of people of this project with more java
knowledge than me.

Cheers.
José L.

It's a very powerful tool, theorically free, and it's a real pity to

Are you sure it's not a bug in piupart?

If you take a look at the log:

  Selecting previously deselected package gambas2-runtime.
  Unpacking gambas2-runtime (from .../gambas2-runtime_2.12-2_amd64.deb) ...

it's using gambas2-runtime 2.12-2, the one with the bug instead of version
2.13-1 that has the bug fixed...

This problem is very important for Debian Edu users. Up to now, the only

Does this get fixed by bumping libxcb's buffer size to 16k instead of 4?

 Cheers,

I didn't know that was possible. After reading
 http://lists.freedesktop.org/archives/xcb/2008-September/003906.html it
seems that setting the env variable
LIBXCB_QUEUE_BUFFER_SIZE makes it possible, but according to
http://lists.freedesktop.org/archives/xcb/2008-September/003905.html the
default value is already xcb_queue_buffer_size=16384. So
- are these patches available in lenny or squeeze versions of libxcb1 in
Debian?
- if they are, it seems that 16384 doesn't improve it, as I've already
tested lenny and squeeze versions of libxcb1. Can you suggest any other
value to test?

or maybe I'm wrong and there's another known way to do what you suggest. In
that case, please, I need you to teach me how to do it to test this bug.
