Bug#803647: [Pkg-gambas-devel] Bug#803647: Bug#803647: No solution for llvm and gambas (for now)
Only while llvm-3.5 stays in sid, and even for that case it's not a good policy. We can do it for the good of the users for sometime. Maybe gambas developer will update the library in the meantime. If you agree I can do it, if not the only solution is disabling llvm component from being built in the packaging. 2016-01-07 3:52 GMT+01:00 Ian Haywood: > On Wed, Jan 6, 2016 at 9:47 PM, Gianfranco Costamagna > wrote: > > -BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE- > > Hash: SHA256 > > > > control: forwarded -1 http://gambaswiki.org/bugtracker/edit?object=BUG.8 > > 35 > > > > Hi, unfortunately the bug report clearly shows that the features used > > are not compatible with recent llvm > > > > "LLVM 3.6 decided to replace their old JIT API by a new incompatible > > one, and so broke programs like Gambas that relied on them. > > There is no solution at the moment." > > > > so, since we don't know how to patch, and the component is optional I > > think I'll leave the current status quo, and maybe disable llvm on > > gambas if you eventually want to remove it from Debian. > generally when a project radically changes its API, the old version is > maintained for > some time (often years, think python 2.x and the old Linux kernels) > llvm-3.5 is still an available package in stretch and jessie, wouldn't > it be possible to have a specific dependency on llvm-3.5, until > upstream point gb.jit to 3.6? > > Ian > > ___ > Pkg-gambas-devel mailing list > pkg-gambas-de...@lists.alioth.debian.org > http://lists.alioth.debian.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/pkg-gambas-devel >

Yes, there are two things to do to accelerate it: 1) helping with the packaging 2) convincing my boss to give me more free time So I'd go for 1, or you will have to be patient until I get time to finish the polish and checks for the latest version. As far as I can see, Qucs is not available in the Debian repository now. Is there anything holding it up? Yes, the sources contain some files which license is not acceptable by Debian ftpmaster, so it has been rejected. Which archive did you upload it too? I can see that there is a well maintained PPA for Ubuntu with packages in good state here: https://launchpad.net/~fransschreuder1/+archive/ubuntu/qucs Is there any reason why this package cannot enter Debian sid also soon. I'm impressed of how well Qucs has become. Yes, it is not a pure technical question. The package was ready, working and lintian clean. It 's a licensing problem. There are a bunch of files (mainly models) with non-free licenses. I'm trying to clean them all, but qucs funcionality are being reduced. I'm trying to find a replacement to keep it all working. Of course, the ppa package you say it's still worse in terms of licensing. I had already removed the files I was sure that were not free, but ftpmasters found some others. Regards José L. Bug#777696: python-web2py: Provide an example apache2 conf file instead of ambiguous instructions
2015-02-16 10:51 GMT+01:00 Olivier Berger olivier.ber...@telecom-sudparis.eu: Hi. José Luis Redrejo Rodríguez jredr...@debian.org writes: Hi, thanks for your suggestions. Also I have added a WSGIPassAuthorization On directive to allow web2py manage the login authorization bypassing apache restrictions. Sorry, I don't remember what was incorrect in details, but I guess the README should be tested by a naive user, which would be the best way to test it ;-) Sure, I will try, there's a Debian list for this, but it's hard if you don't know the context. OTOH, about your considerations on the the directory where your web2py application dir is located it is not /usr/share/web2py/ . It is the place where you run web2py, with the package you can run it where you want. Usually at $HOME. A normal user can not put his applications in /usr... As the apache .conf file goes, I noticed that upstream ships (now, don't know for earlier releases) an install script for Debian which is supposed to generate the .conf file. https://github.com/web2py/web2py/blob/master/scripts/setup-web2py-debian-sid.sh Maybe its output ought to be compared to the one provided by the maintainer... and differences explicitely highlighted or reported as a bug to upstream ? There are no differences in the conf file, excepting in the way it is installed. The script doesn't do it in a Debian way and imposes how the ssl certificates are created or install some packages (like postfix) to the user. The debian package doesn't do these impositions. I've just uploaded it to the archive. I haven't had time to fix a couple of lintian warning because of the deadline, but I think it's good enough to be in Debian. Finally I've totally removed adms from the sources because it needs some verilog files with a license that's not considered dfsg. I've been considering removing asco too because it's not in a good shape, but finally I've left it in the sources without compiling it to avoid introducing a bunch of dirty binaries in the package. Bug#689658: web2py package update
Sorry, but I can not upload your packaging for several reasons: - First of all, this package has already a maintainer, you can not hijack it on your own - Secondly, I'm already working on the pacakging of the latest version 2.9.5, not 2.9.4 - Also, I don't agree with some of the changes you've done to the packaging. I'm open to work with others with this package. It has some problems I haven't solved in the last two years, due to the way web2py deals with files placed at applications modules directory. Any help on this topic is very welcome. But the changes in its debianization should be discussed among the people who are working on the packaging, or at least, with the current official maintaner. So, if you want to collaborate, your opinions, help and work are welcome, but if you want to hijack the package, I'm sorry but it's not possible because I'm still working on it. Regards. Bug#683884: qucs 0.17 needs libc6 = 2.14
If you upgrade libc6 you will not be able to continue running wheezy you will have to upgrade your system to the current testing distribution. So, yes, there is some risk of stability. Bug#731487: [Pkg-gambas-devel] fixes
I have no problem if more uploaders are added to the Gambas Debian Maintainers group. It's a question of joining the group in alioth. A different topic is knowing the state of the current debianization in git. Is it ready to be uploaded? I have almost no free time for real life reasons. The problem is not uploading the packages, building and compiling them is something mostly automated. If other members of the group have checked them properly I can upload them this evening, but if after compiling them, lintians complains with a lot of messages, I will need days or weeks to fix them all. So in brief, if those who have modified the debianization since the last upload confirms they are in a good shape, I'll compile, check and upload them inmediately. Regards. José L. 2014-02-12 9:55 GMT+01:00 Ian Haywood ihaywo...@gmail.com: Ok, it's now two months since a fix was posted. Is there anyone listening who can do an NMU? IMHO it's clear with the best will in the world we can't rely solely on Jose to maintain the packages. Is there any way the number of people who upload be expanded? Specifically, can I and/or some other gambas people be authorised as debian maintainers for gambas3? The reason I ask is this problem is only going to get worse as gambas upstream gets more modules, and once we have a working gambas3 in Debian other gambas-based projects are going to come forward looking for inclusion. That means that even when the correct switch is passed to configure it still finds kde 3? it tries to preload it because these libraries are harcoded : main/gbc/gbi.c: preload(argv, libqt-mt.so.3 libkdecore.so.4); main/gbx/gbx_library.c:add_preload(env, libkdecore.so.4); and gives error messages because it can not find them if kde3 is not installed. -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. Bug#583384: Request to steal web2py ITP
Hello Unless you tell me not to do so, I plan to upload this to the archive myself and maintain these packages. I've already worked in web2py debianization and plan to co-maintain it under the Python Modules Packaging Team in Debian. Please tell me if you object to me stealing your ITP, or if you're want to contribute with some code I can upload today my current work to the python-modules subversion. These parts are for the hosted mode browser or also for the gwt compiler. In fact, to be able to upload gwt based applications to Debian, we would only need to have in Debian the gwt compiler. Maybe splittiing gwt in parts and trying to work in the easier first might be a good approach. Good idea, I didn't pay attention this would be possible If you want to help on this, and have some time, maybe try to get some explanation from upstream dev about this part. I have not much time, but I'm really interested in having the compiler in Debian, so if the eclipse/iceweasel stuff can be overrided this way, maybe we could work together with upstream to get this first target. If you have got some trick or patch just to build the compiler, removing binary stuffs, It would help me, but I'm not sure compiler don't use any native stuffs. It should probably go in java packaging project when it's done. Sure, I'm sure that there are a lot of people of this project with more java knowledge than me. Cheers Christian

Bug#559057: etoys: New upstream version available: 4.0.2339
Hi Jonas. First of all, I'd be glad if you hijack the packages, but I'd like to explain to you their current situation: - etoys: it has some important bugs related to the way the squeak image is bootstraped. Now it's impossible to technically confirm that the whole image is free, because it's impossible to rebuild the image from scratch. There is an effort in the squeak community to make that possible, but the steps are being taken very slowly. That's why I haven't updated that package. Redo the package with the new image is easy and can be done pretty fast, so you won't have problems with this package. -squeak-vm: I'd like to continue maintaining this package, but there was inside the squeak community some people (Bert among them) who didn't like the way I do the package because they have done a different debianization. The problem is the way the package is focused: I focused it to use Squeak in education, so I added desktop integration, mime types and launchers for kde/gnome. They focused the package in using squeak to develop, so the launcher is console based, allowing more parameters to launch squeak in different ways. Trying to solve this problem I created an alioth project: https://alioth.debian.org/projects/pkg-squeak/ , I added the other people as administrator and developper and upload my debianization (that includes some fixes for the current package in Debian). That was seven months ago, and since then, no one has added anything or argue anything in the mailing lists. So, I'm a little frozen with the package, as I could do a new upload with my debianization, but I would like to do it together with the rest of the people who have worked on it inside the Squeak community. I've used Squeak a lot , and know pretty well the image and smalltalk, but about the vm, I do know that there are people there who know much better its insides. Squeak is a really weird project inside the Debian rules, and its debianization have some problems that are really hard to solve inside Debian. So, now you know the situation, and can decide: you can continue what I did and ignore the problems that both, Debian and Squeak communities are raising, or try to fight against the giants of the different egos to fix them. In any case, you have my support if you hijack the packages, or if you want my help to do new uploads. Cheers. Bug#402841: any progress with gwt?
2009/7/21 Christian BAYLE ba...@debian.org Hi I tried many time, but still got problem with IceWeasel-Firefox / Eclipse binary part that is in fact prebuilt. These parts are for the hosted mode browser or also for the gwt compiler. In fact, to be able to upload gwt based applications to Debian, we would only need to have in Debian the gwt compiler. Maybe splittiing gwt in parts and trying to work in the easier first might be a good approach. If you want to help on this, and have some time, maybe try to get some explanation from upstream dev about this part. I have not much time, but I'm really interested in having the compiler in Debian, so if the eclipse/iceweasel stuff can be overrided this way, maybe we could work together with upstream to get this first target. It should probably go in java packaging project when it's done. Sure, I'm sure that there are a lot of people of this project with more java knowledge than me. Cheers. José L. Cheers Christian José L. Redrejo a écrit : Hi Christian, Have you continued working on packaging gwt or just gave up? Version 1.7.0 has just been released, and maybe it's time to set up an alioth project in order to try to package this nice monster. It's a very powerful tool, theorically free, and it's a real pity to have it out of Debian. Regards José L.
Bug#528019: reopen
2009/5/26 Holger Levsen hol...@layer-acht.org reopen 528019 found 528019 2.13-1 thanks Hi, the bug is still there, see attached logfile. regards, Holger Are you sure it's not a bug in piupart? If you take a look at the log: Selecting previously deselected package gambas2-runtime. Unpacking gambas2-runtime (from .../gambas2-runtime_2.12-2_amd64.deb) ... it's using gambas2-runtime 2.12-2, the one with the bug instead of version 2.13-1 that has the bug fixed...
Bug#487635: The perfomance degrading since lenny also affects to ltsp clients
2009/5/11 Julien Cristau jcris...@debian.org On Mon, May 11, 2009 at 14:13:52 +0200, José L. Redrejo wrote: I've tested it using both lenny and squeeze versions of libx11-6. Only downgrading to libx11-6 from etch allows some applications (as java apps) run in an usable way. Maybe this info can help: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/libxcb/+bug/277069 and http://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=17868 say that the problems appeared since libx11-6 was linked with xcb. This problem is very important for Debian Edu users. Up to now, the only workaround is downgrading to the etch library. Does this get fixed by bumping libxcb's buffer size to 16k instead of 4? Cheers, Julien I didn't know that was possible. After reading http://lists.freedesktop.org/archives/xcb/2008-September/003906.html it seems that setting the env variable LIBXCB_QUEUE_BUFFER_SIZE makes it possible, but according to http://lists.freedesktop.org/archives/xcb/2008-September/003905.html the default value is already xcb_queue_buffer_size=16384. So - are these patches available in lenny or squeeze versions of libxcb1 in Debian? - if they are, it seems that 16384 doesn't improve it, as I've already tested lenny and squeeze versions of libxcb1. Can you suggest any other value to test? or maybe I'm wrong and there's another known way to do what you suggest. In that case, please, I need you to teach me how to do it to test this bug. Cheers José L.
