Sorry, I use the nvidia driver binary provided by nvidia. In debian
testing there are no packages for legacy drivers in 96-branch (the one I
   need for my old GPU).

Working on it. Once the current version is polished, we'll update the
  legacy packages.

New Debian packages of 96.43.18 are available in unstable. If you want to
switch, first use the Nvidia uninstaller to remove the driver installation
 made with the Nvidia installer.

Anyway, I have just downloaded and compiled 96.43.18 from nvidia.com and
problems remain with option AddARGBGLXVisuals (I have just tested).

The bug itself seems to be in the proprietary driver, so we can't to anything
about it. You may want to report this problem to upstream following Nvidia's
 bug reporting instructions:
 http://www.nvnews.net/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=46678
As you'll have to run their nvidia-bug-report.sh script, we can't forward the
issue to upstream for you. In case you submit a bug report upstream, please
leave a note (and an URL) here, so we can mark this report as forwarded to
 upstream.

 Andreas

First of all, sorry for the late answer. I have been on depart for last
four months.

The problem is related to libvdpau, I think. I use the package from
Debian (I reinstall it after installing the package from nvidia) and
everything works fine till I enable 3D effects in KDE desktop. If I
don't use Debian's libvdpau 3D effects on KDE work OK, but then I can't
run mplayer, for instance. In testing there are no Nvidia libvdpau
packages. Maybe now, that Debian 6.0 is out, these packages will
smoothly enter in testing. I remain in testing, these are the contents
of my sources.list:

teseo:~# grep ^deb /etc/apt/sources.list
deb ftp://ftp.de.debian.org/debian testing main contrib non-free
deb http://security.debian.org/ testing/updates main contrib non-free
deb http://www.debian-multimedia.org testing main non-free

So I can report if everything is OK when those packages arrive. By the
way, are you missing any source in the lines above? Thanks a lot!

Bug#586921: Printing now works fine in cups

2010-07-05 Thread Juan Carlos Amengual Argudo
Hi,

today I have performed my debian testing weekly system update :-) and I
have observed that several cups packages were updated (not
ghostscript-cups by the way, still in 8.71~dfsg2-3).

After updating, I have sent two test pages from cups to different remote
printers and now everything was fine! :-? I don't know exactly why (I
thought that the problem was really with ghostscript-cups). When I sent
this bug report a week ago, the printing of test pages failed.

In short:

a) I think that this bug can be closed with the current status of debian
testing.
b) Circumstances should be investigated as to make clear which library
was responsible of the fault. I think that two serious candidates are
libcups2 and libcupsimage2, both updated in my system today. I think
that it's not a good thing that this bug could be reproduced due to a
misunderstanding between ghostscript-cups and libcups2 or whatever
dependence.

Thanks a lot for your profitable work!

Regards,

Bug#558132: systemsettings has gone

2009-12-02 Thread Juan Carlos Amengual Argudo
Mensaje citado por Xavier Vello xavier.ve...@gmail.com:

 Hello

So, please, please, could you tell me why I having these inconsistencies
(input/output) error (Error de entrada/salida in spanish)? Nothing
  [...]

This is either a disk error or a filesystem inconsistency (found a bug in
the kernel, yay ^^). You should monitor your harddisk with SMART just in
case it is a hardware failure.

Solved! :-) I rebooted the system, booting in recovery mode, started a root
shell, umounted /usr and ran fsck.ext3 -p -f -c /dev/hda2. Fsck fixed some
inconsistencies and errors in filesystem and everything is now fine (after
reinstalling some packages, being systemsettings one of them).

The only question being open is now: why in booting sequence, system says that
/dev/hda2 was clean? There were indeed errors in filesystem :-?

Bug report against what? fsck? :? I think this is a serious issue...

Thanks a lot!

Bug#554169: xserver-xorg-core: Option AddARGBGLXVisuals in xorg.conf with nvidia driver causes improper function of OpenGL apps

2009-11-03 Thread Juan Carlos Amengual Argudo
Package: xserver-xorg-core
Version: 2:1.6.5-1
Severity: normal

Hi,

I have experimented some problems recently. More concretely since I
added options:

Option RenderAccel True
Option AddARGBGLXVisuals True

and section:

Section Extensions
Option Composite Enable
EndSection

to my xorg.conf file.

The problem, I think, is related to AddARGBGLXVisuals. I have enabled
this option in order to activate compositing 3D desktop effects in kwin
(KDE4, kde 4.3 concretely).

Since I enabled this option, awesome 3D Desktop effects are enabled in
KDE but some Open GL apps (like KCometen4 and other OpenGL screensavers)
don'k work OK (run very slowly). Moreover, I have noticed some weird
behaviour in some apps windows (Firefox, Acrobat Reader,...): the effect
is the same, black screen windows (no text, nothing in the window except
black). And running mplayer sometimes there are X errors (couldn't
allocate memory with XAlloc or something like that).

Of course I use official nVidia drivers (legacy package
NVIDIA-Linux-x86-96.43.13-pkg1.run) as always (with no noticeable
problem till now). If necessary, I could attach nvidia-log file as generated
with nvidia-bug-report.sh.

Bug#526180: lire: lr_log2report crashes with apache's access.log

2009-04-29 Thread Juan Carlos Amengual Argudo
Package: lire

Severity: important

This is the crash:

Maybe this bug could be related to #291063? I'm not sure...

For your consideration, I have to say that lr_log2report works fine in Kubuntu
Hardy Heron with the same access.log file. Let's see:

Bug#403574: gtkpod still uninstallable

2007-01-19 Thread Juan Carlos Amengual Argudo
Package: gtkpod
Followup-For: Bug #403574

I can't install this package (I use Debian testing). Whenever I select
the package for installing with dselect, I can't. Simply says:

Dependency problem:
---
gtkpod depende de libgpod0
gtkpod entra en conflicto con libgpod0 (= 0.4.0)

It can be translated to:
gtkpod depends on libgpod0
gtkpod conflicts with libgpod0 (= 0.4.0)

Is it possible that a package conflicts with another package which
depends on? In fact, there is no other libgpod0.

I see that this bug has been solved, but I suppose that it has been
solved in sid, no in testing, hasn't been? When will the proper
package arrive to etch?

Let's see with apt-get (it says broken packages):

# apt-get install gtkpod
Leyendo lista de paquetes... Hecho
Creando árbol de dependencias... Hecho

E: Paquetes rotos

Some workaround or have I to still wait?

Bug#407303: Failed to compile vmware modules with linux-headers-2.6.18-3-686

2007-01-17 Thread Juan Carlos Amengual Argudo
Package: linux-headers-2.6.18-3-686
Version: 2.6.18-7
Severity: important

When I try to compile vmware modules (as always with a new kernel) I get a
strange error:

# /usr/bin/vmware-config.pl
Making sure services for VMware Workstation are stopped.
...
...
...
Trying to find a suitable vmmon module for your running kernel.

None of the pre-built vmmon modules for VMware Workstation is suitable for your
running kernel. Do you want this program to try to build the vmmon module for
your system (you need to have a C compiler installed on your system)? [yes]

Using compiler /usr/bin/gcc. Use environment variable CC to override.

What is the location of the directory of C header files that match your running
kernel? [/usr/src/linux/include]

The directory of kernel headers (version @@VMWARE@@ UTS_RELEASE) does not match
your running kernel (version 2.6.18-3-686). Even if the module were to compile
successfully, it would not load into the running kernel.

What is the location of the directory of C header files that match your running
kernel? [/usr/src/linux/include] /usr/src/linux-headers-2.6.18-3/include

The path /usr/src/linux-headers-2.6.18-3/include is an existing directory, but
it does not contain at least one of these directories linux, asm, net as
expected.

In fact, /usr/src/linux/include should work, since:

$ ll /usr/src/
total 1707
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root src 27 2006-12-12 13:21 linux -
linux-headers-2.6.18-3-686/
drwxr-xr-x 18 root root 520 2006-07-24 17:35 linux-headers-2.6.15-1
drwxr-xr-x 5 root root 544 2006-07-24 17:35 linux-headers-2.6.15-1-686-smp
drwxr-xr-x 17 root root 432 2006-12-12 12:27 linux-headers-2.6.18-3
drwxr-xr-x 4 root root 544 2006-12-12 12:27 linux-headers-2.6.18-3-686
drwxr-xr-x 3 root root 72 2006-12-12 12:27 linux-kbuild-2.6.18
drwxr-xr-x 2 root root 48 2003-04-08 23:27 modules
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 1743387 2006-12-04 03:04 nvidia-kernel-source.tar.gz
drwxr-xr-x 7 root root 168 2003-11-03 13:21 rpm

¿So? I understand that the problem is that the version of the headers
does not match the running kernel, which, in this case, is an
important bug since:

$ uname -a
Linux xx 2.6.18-3-686 #1 SMP Mon Dec 4 16:41:14 UTC 2006 i686
GNU/Linux

I have always been able (till kernel 2.6.15, I have updated from
kernel 2.6.15 to 2.6.18 as shipped by debian etch) to compile
vmware. ¿Is this the fault of linux-headers-2.6.18-3-686 or maybe
linux-kbuild-2.6.18?

Thanks a lot for your time and efforts!

Bug#406484: libsane-extras: HP Scanjet 4370 always previsualice a totally black image

2007-01-11 Thread Juan Carlos Amengual Argudo
Package: libsane-extras
Version: 1.0.18.5
Severity: important

My HP Scanjet 4370 is perfectly recognised after installing this
package and since I added myself to group scanner there is no problem
starting kooka or xsane.

The problem is that scanning with kooka, xsane or even from console (scanimage
kk.pnm) I always get a totally black image :-¿? even in
previsualization. I have read in sane forums about that problem and
they mention a driver problem, but I don't clearly know if the bug is
solved or not. If not, you should clearly state that HP Scanjet 4370
is not supported yet: yes, the scanner works but it's impossible to
work with.

Bug#406387: error: database connection failed after installation

2007-01-10 Thread Juan Carlos Amengual Argudo
Package: moodle
Version: 1.6.3-2
Severity: grave
Justification: renders package unusable

Whenever I tried to access http://localhost/moodle/admin/ I get same
error over and over:

Error: Database connection failed.

It is possible that the database is overloaded or otherwise not
running properly.

The site administrator should also check that the database details
have been correctly specified in config.php

;-¿? I don't know what to do. I have purged and reinstalled several
times postgress and moodle. I have googled till I'm really tired. In
fact, I have checked every little thing I have found in Google
regarding this problem. And, of course, I have followed line by line
/usr/share/doc/moodle/README.Debian.

Executing from console: createdb -O moodle -e -U moodle prueba

I get:

Contraseña:

createdb: falló la creación de la base de datos:

Why? User moodle exists, see it:

Ingrésela nuevamente:
Contraseña:
CREATE USER moodle PASSWORD 'x' CREATEDB NOCREATEUSER;
createuser: falló la creación del nuevo usuario:

So? The installation scrips has created a user moodle that has not
been granted privileges for creating databases? Is it possible?

Moreover:

$ createdb -O moodle -e -U postgres moodle

So? Why moodle doesn't work if database moodle exists?

created. So now, I'm using kernel 2.6.15 as shipped by Debian Etch
(linux-image-2.6.15-1-686 package).

This same bug was reported against linux-image-2.6.16-2-686-smp (bug
#379647) and closed by a developer (he said that upgrading udev solved
the problem). OK, so now I have updated my etch and... it didn't
work. In fact, I have tried again with 2.6.16 and the problem
remains, so I think that bug #379647 must be re-opened. My current
version of udev is:

Something was changed in the building of the kernel from 2.6.15 to
2.6.16 and 2.6.17, that affects the interaction with udev :¿? I don't
know, but I am not able to use 2.6.16 and 2.6.17 images (only till
2.6.15) and I suspect that I will not be able to use the future 2.6.18
image in etch. Thanks a lot for your work! Tell me if I could be of
help.

This morning I have updated my etch (testing) (I perform a weekly
update). After that, I have started my KDE session from gdm as always
and... it's impossible to work! I can't read any menu option, text in

messages in the task bar can be seen. I have started GNOME and at
least I can work. When starting any KDE app from GNOME it happens the
same (I started Kasablanca and the KDE fonts viewer). This is my

Bug#255583: kghostview can't print two pages per sheet

2005-04-25 Thread Juan Carlos Amengual Argudo
Package: kghostview
Version: 4:3.3.2-2
Followup-For: Bug #255583

Same effect on my system. Whenever I try to print a two page PDF
document printing two pages per sheet, I only get two blank pages :-(

I use CUPS and I have tried to print in an HP LaserJet 8150
Foomatic/Postscript printer. I installed the cups-pdf package and when
printing two pages per sheet using the virtual PDF printer provided
for this package I always get a corrupted PDF file that can't be read
with acroread, kpdf, xpdf or gpdf. I have to say that everything is OK
if I use Kpdf instead. Early version of kghostview printed multiple
pages per sheet OK. Thanks a lot! Your time and efforts are greatly
appreciated.

Bug#296251: No, bug is not closed :-(

2005-03-07 Thread Juan Carlos Amengual Argudo
Hi,

No, bug is still not closed. This morning I couldn't print from
evolution. I don't know what's happening. Evolution freezes whenever I
click print button. I have been on holiday from last wednesday. Last
wednesday printing worked, but not today. I have re-started cups server,
but this didn't work. I have tried to kill evolution-data-server* an
evolution-alarm*, restart evolution and ¡nothing!.

Please a solution will be welcome, cause I can't print mails and I have
no clue regarding what is really happening. Thanks a lot!

Bug#296251: Print works now in evolution

2005-03-02 Thread Juan Carlos Amengual Argudo
Hi,

after last update (yesterday morning), printing in evolution works fine:
only a bit slow (20 seconds or so in showing the printing window). I
realized that some cups-related packages were updated yesterday. So I
think that the problem was something related to the communication
between evolution and cups server.

So you can consider this bug closed. Thanks a lot!
