Bug#554169: Option AddARGBGLXVisuals in xorg.conf with nvidia driver causes improper function of OpenGL apps

The problem is related to Option AddARGBGLXVisuals. I have deleted this option from xorg.conf and everything works fine, but no more 3D visual effects in kwin! :-( (composition temporarily suspended). Sorry, I use the nvidia driver binary provided by nvidia. In debian testing there are no packages for legacy drivers in 96-branch (the one I need for my old GPU). Working on it. Once the current version is polished, we'll update the legacy packages. New Debian packages of 96.43.18 are available in unstable. If you want to switch, first use the Nvidia uninstaller to remove the driver installation made with the Nvidia installer. Anyway, I have just downloaded and compiled 96.43.18 from nvidia.com and problems remain with option AddARGBGLXVisuals (I have just tested). The bug itself seems to be in the proprietary driver, so we can't to anything about it. You may want to report this problem to upstream following Nvidia's bug reporting instructions: http://www.nvnews.net/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=46678 As you'll have to run their nvidia-bug-report.sh script, we can't forward the issue to upstream for you. In case you submit a bug report upstream, please leave a note (and an URL) here, so we can mark this report as forwarded to upstream. Andreas First of all, sorry for the late answer. I have been on depart for last four months. The problem is related to libvdpau, I think. I use the package from Debian (I reinstall it after installing the package from nvidia) and everything works fine till I enable 3D effects in KDE desktop. If I don't use Debian's libvdpau 3D effects on KDE work OK, but then I can't run mplayer, for instance. In testing there are no Nvidia libvdpau packages. Maybe now, that Debian 6.0 is out, these packages will smoothly enter in testing. I remain in testing, these are the contents of my sources.list: teseo:~# grep ^deb /etc/apt/sources.list deb ftp://ftp.de.debian.org/debian testing main contrib non-free deb http://security.debian.org/ testing/updates main contrib non-free deb http://www.debian-multimedia.org testing main non-free So I can report if everything is OK when those packages arrive. Bug#586921: Printing now works fine in cups
Hi, today I have performed my debian testing weekly system update :-) and I have observed that several cups packages were updated (not ghostscript-cups by the way, still in 8.71~dfsg2-3). After updating, I have sent two test pages from cups to different remote printers and now everything was fine! :-? I don't know exactly why (I thought that the problem was really with ghostscript-cups). When I sent this bug report a week ago, the printing of test pages failed. In short: a) I think that this bug can be closed with the current status of debian testing. b) Circumstances should be investigated as to make clear which library was responsible of the fault. I think that two serious candidates are libcups2 and libcupsimage2, both updated in my system today. I think that it's not a good thing that this bug could be reproduced due to a misunderstanding between ghostscript-cups and libcups2 or whatever dependence. Thanks a lot for your profitable work! Mensaje citado por Xavier Vello xavier.ve...@gmail.com: Hello So, please, please, could you tell me why I having these inconsistencies (input/output) error (Error de entrada/salida in spanish)? Nothing [...] This is either a disk error or a filesystem inconsistency (found a bug in the kernel, yay ^^). You should monitor your harddisk with SMART just in case it is a hardware failure. Solved! :-) I rebooted the system, booting in recovery mode, started a root shell, umounted /usr and ran fsck.ext3 -p -f -c /dev/hda2. Fsck fixed some inconsistencies and errors in filesystem and everything is now fine (after reinstalling some packages, being systemsettings one of them). The only question being open is now: why in booting sequence, system says that /dev/hda2 was clean? There were indeed errors in filesystem :-? Bug report against what? fsck? :? Bug#554169: xserver-xorg-core: Option AddARGBGLXVisuals in xorg.conf with nvidia driver causes improper function of OpenGL apps
Package: xserver-xorg-core Version: 2:1.6.5-1 Severity: normal Hi, I have experimented some problems recently. More concretely since I added options: Option RenderAccel True Option AddARGBGLXVisuals True and section: Section Extensions Option Composite Enable EndSection to my xorg.conf file. The problem, I think, is related to AddARGBGLXVisuals. I have enabled this option in order to activate compositing 3D desktop effects in kwin (KDE4, kde 4.3 concretely). Since I enabled this option, awesome 3D Desktop effects are enabled in KDE but some Open GL apps (like KCometen4 and other OpenGL screensavers) don'k work OK (run very slowly). Moreover, I have noticed some weird behaviour in some apps windows (Firefox, Acrobat Reader,...): the effect is the same, black screen windows (no text, nothing in the window except black). And running mplayer sometimes there are X errors (couldn't allocate memory with XAlloc or something like that). Of course I use official nVidia drivers (legacy package NVIDIA-Linux-x86-96.43.13-pkg1.run) as always (with no noticeable problem till now). If necessary, I could attach nvidia-log file as generated with nvidia-bug-report.sh. Regards, -- Package-specific info: /var/lib/x11/X.roster does not exist. /var/lib/x11/X.md5sum does not exist. Bug#403574: gtkpod still uninstallable
Package: gtkpod Followup-For: Bug #403574 I can't install this package (I use Debian testing). Whenever I select the package for installing with dselect, I can't. Bug#379647: linux-image-2.6.16-2-686: /dev/input/mouse0, /dev/input/mice and /dev/psaux misssing
Package: linux-image-2.6.16-2-686 Severity: important Upgrading from kernel 2.6.15 to 2.6.16 and X fails to start due to /dev/input/mouse0 not found :-¿? I observe that nor /dev/psaux, nor /dev/input/mice exist either. After rebooting and/or running update-initramfs problem still remains :-¿? I have a USB logitech cordless mouse that had no problems with earlier versions of 2.6 kernel (nor 2.4 kernels). When rebooting with kernel 2.6.15 all of these devices were properly created. So now, I'm using kernel 2.6.15 as shipped by Debian Etch (linux-image-2.6.15-1-686 package). Thanks a lot for your work! Bug#255583: kghostview can't print two pages per sheet
Package: kghostview Version: 4:3.3.2-2 Followup-For: Bug #255583 Same effect on my system. Whenever I try to print a two page PDF document printing two pages per sheet, I only get two blank pages :-( I use CUPS and I have tried to print in an HP LaserJet 8150 Foomatic/Postscript printer. I installed the cups-pdf package and when printing two pages per sheet using the virtual PDF printer provided for this package I always get a corrupted PDF file that can't be read with acroread, kpdf, xpdf or gpdf. I have to say that everything is OK if I use Kpdf instead. Early version of kghostview printed multiple pages per sheet OK. Thanks a lot! Your time and efforts are greatly appreciated. Bug#296251: No, bug is not closed :-(
Hi, No, bug is still not closed. This morning I couldn't print from evolution. I don't know what's happening. Evolution freezes whenever I click print button. I have been on holiday from last wednesday. Last wednesday printing worked, but not today. I have re-started cups server, but this didn't work. I have tried to kill evolution-data-server* an evolution-alarm*, restart evolution and ¡nothing!. Please a solution will be welcome, cause I can't print mails and I have no clue regarding what is really happening. Thanks a lot! Regards, -- Juan Carlos Amengual Argudo [EMAIL PROTECTED] Depto. Bug#296251: Print works now in evolution
Hi, after last update (yesterday morning), printing in evolution works fine: only a bit slow (20 seconds or so in showing the printing window). I realized that some cups-related packages were updated yesterday. So I think that the problem was something related to the communication between evolution and cups server. So you can consider this bug closed. Thanks a lot! Regards, -- Juan Carlos Amengual Argudo [EMAIL PROTECTED] Depto. Lenguajes y Sistemas Informáticos (UJI)
