Bug#810504: pepperflashplugin-nonfree does not update latest version, again new version available

2016-01-08 Thread Juhani Karlsson
Package: pepperflashplugin-nonfree
Version: 1.8.1
Severity: important

Dear Maintainer

Is it possible to make it automatic, no need for manual step of marking
a newer version as verified and make updates available faster.
Flash updates are almost allways related to some security issues so it
would be nice to get latest version as fast as possible.

Again new version available 20.0.0.267 according to
http://www.adobe.com/software/flash/about/

But it does not update to that version, just says latest already installled.

Bug#726273: kaffeine: recording creates empty (0B) files

2014-04-26 Thread Juhani Karlsson
Package: kaffeine
Version: 1.2.2-2
Followup-For: Bug #726273

Dear Maintainer,

Exactly same problem, sometimes records normally, mostly not, but what always
works, a solution, start watching the program that you want to record and
press
pause, Kaffeine normally creates timeshift recording always.
Records normally really randomly from EPG or if I click instant record, the
solution
always works.

Bug#614584: fdisk: cannot handle sector numbers of 2^31 and above

2013-10-16 Thread Juhani Karlsson
I can confirm the same problem. Really annoying when creating partitions
for RAID, really impossible to create large partitions of same size.
I wanted to leave some empty space to end of drive for future use, only
option to create last partitions was to make an estimated same size with
gparted (not used to using parted and don't want to learn how just
because fdisk is buggy.

Bug#682308: libcairo2: Slow tab switching in chromium w/ nvidia

2012-10-03 Thread Juhani Karlsson
After updating NVIDIA driver from
http://www.nvidia.com/object/linux-display-ia32-304.51-driver.html
to NVIDIA-Linux-x86-304.51.run like Przemysław Pawełczyk says here
http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=682308
..the issue should be resolved with the driver 304.30. Copy-pasting
relevant part of debian changelog..

I had older driver than 304.30.

First I upgraded librairo2 and then NVIDIA driver.

Before NVIDIA driver fix update I solved problem by sticking in older
version of libcairo2:

cat /etc/apt/preferences
Package: libcairo2
Pin: release a=wheezy, version 1.10.2-7
Pin-Priority: 500

Package: libgtk2.0-cil
Pin: release a=wheezy, version 2.12.10-3
Pin-Priority: 500

Package: libglib2.0-cil
Pin: release a=wheezy, version 2.12.10-3
Pin-Priority: 500

No problem anymore after that driver update and libcairo2 is now version
1.12.2-2.
Chromium and Google Chrome work perfectly with dozens of tabs open
simultaneously.

After upgrade (Preparing to replace libcairo2:i386 1.10.2-7 (using

google-chrome-stableb and chromium.

If I open many (like 5) tabs at once from bookmarks, browser gets REALLY
slow, almost crashes. Feels like 10x slower than before upgrade.
Actually asks if I want to close some tabs or wait. Before I could
open easily like 50 tabs with good performance (16GB memory in my system).

Bug#646682: bad crackling audio with any file format after vlc update

2011-10-26 Thread Juhani Karlsson
Package: vlc
Version: 1.1.12-2
Severity: important

After update really bad crackling audio quality.
Tried to reinstall (before removed with --purge) and removed user
configurations from:
@lrdlnx:~$ find . -name '*vlc*'
./.local/share/vlc
./.local/share/applications/userapp-vlc-3F8Z2V.desktop
./.cache/vlc
./.vlc
./.config/vlc
./.config/vlc/vlc-qt-interface.conf
./.config/vlc/vlcrc

No help, all other programs like Kaffeine, Amarok, audacious and like flash
audio from browser sound quality
normal.

Problem noticed after:

 Upgraded:
libvlc5 1.1.11-2+b3 = 1.1.12-2
libvlccore4 1.1.11-2+b3 = 1.1.12-2
vlc 1.1.11-2+b3 = 1.1.12-2

vlc-plugin-notify 1.1.11-2+b3 = 1.1.12-2
vlc-plugin-pulse 1.1.11-2+b3 = 1.1.12-2

I use pulseaudio, tried also alsa output module and others, no help.

I use Creative Labs SB Live!

Bug#625922: SATA devices get reset without real hardware failure

2011-08-28 Thread Juhani Karlsson
I use custom kernels from:

root@lrdlnx:~# dpkg -l |grep linux-source

No external patches or anything, just official Debian sources and stuff.

Same error with 2.6.32 and 2.6.38, first time I noticed errors was Aug 5
and I started using 2.6.38 Aug 16.
I have also changed my configuration between my two dekstop computers,
these drives have been attached to
different motherboard, also Nvidia chipset, not exactly same but
anywaysame error also with other mainboard.

Bug#585069: kaffeine: dvb-c recording randomly size 0 files, empty file with correct name of timed recording

2010-06-09 Thread Juhani Karlsson
Tested with 0.8.7-1 old version from
http://snapshot.debian.org/binary/kaffeine/

After installing timed more than 10 recordings. All were recorded OK (no
0 size files). I forgot to mention that I record data over nfs to my
server computer (also Debian Squeeze), gigabit connection, in my private
home network. Thought I should mention but don't think that this
is related to problem.

PS: I am sorry, the whole bug report went to subject by mistake..

Dear Juhani,

Since the problem did not occur with the older X server and does with
the newer X server, even though the NVIDIA driver is the same, that
indicates that the problem is caused by a bug in the X server. In
addition, the backtrace you attached doesn't point to a problem in the
NVIDIA driver, but rather a problem in the X server itself. I would
suggest contacting the Debian support community for help.

Bug#568693: xserver-xorg: 7.5+2 = 7.5+3 upgrade causes xinerama grave functionality and segfault trying to move window between screens

2010-02-06 Thread Juhani Karlsson
Package: xserver-xorg
Version: 1:7.5+3
Severity: important

Hi

I can log in and keyboard and mouse seem OK, but I am using Xinerama.
When I try to move cursor to Screen1 (TV) or move window there strange
things start happening. Cursor might just jump to other side of Screen0
or mouse and keyboard both freeze completely. If it freezes and I press
some button like Num Lock to see if system is responsive it will kick me
out and I end up back to gdm login screen. Freeze happends allways when trying
to move
any window from screen 0 - 1 any key pressing like numlock causes xserver
allways to segfault, just like someone did /etc/init.d/gdm restart.
I can repeat the segfault allways. Screen0 works but Screen1 area is
inaccessible,
I can see desktop of Screen1 but cannot move cursor there, or grab window
from Screen0 there, Window tried to grab can be seen in Screen1 but cannot be
moved further from Screen0 when cursor is about to cross Screen0 - Screen1
border.
Tried to reinstall Nvidia drivers, no help.

Problem began after updates installed last night (list of update log in
the bottom).
No config changes made, before last night everything worked just fine.
Update Manager notified me about updates which I installed, problems began.

my log /var/log/Xorg.0.log and below it my xorg.conf below it update
log from last night below it
lines from log Xorg.0.log after being kicked out of system to login screen,
actually
segfault log info is found in /var/log/Xorg.0.log.old because when I read it
xserver has restarted.

That is correct, removed with --purge (not sure if it actually requires
--purge to fix problem) and problem solved.

Million thanks!

Package: iceweasel
Version: 3.0.1-1
Severity: grave
Justification: renders package unusable

Every web page looks like justified, example screenshot:
http://lrdlnx.iki.fi/temppi/iceweasel_justified_bug.jpg and reinstall did not
help. I completely removed with --purge and reinstalled and removed user
~/.mozilla/, no help on this issue. Now I have to use Opera, Iceweasel is now
useless, this problem came after update to 3.0.x.

Nice, now it works just fine, bravo, thanks!!! It's been a while since I
run to a site than requires newer flash than 7 from flashplayer-mozilla
so I thought to give a shot to flashplugin-nonfree and it works finally :)
I also did some testing, opened in tabs simultaneously 29 sites many
times, no problem, same speed as with flashplayer-mozilla..
thanks again guys, really pleased :)

Bug#401619: Info received (flashplugin-nonfree: I am also having the same problem which I noticed after flash upgrade)

2006-12-21 Thread Juhani Karlsson
It is slower, much slower from the beginning with every site with some
flash in it, with multiple sites it totally freezes, you cannot even
close window from the X on the right top corner, have to use
kill-command from command line. I dont get the usual force close
prompt window when something freezes and you keep clicking the X to
close the window.

I think this has somethin to do with upgrading from Sarge. I have two
computers, the newer one is that which freezes totally, installation is
from summer 2004, originally testing (Sarge was testing then), then
upgraded to stable Sarge and few weeks ago to Etch. It has AMD Athlon 64
X2 4200+ Dual Core and 1GB DDR2 800Mhz so power is not the issue and in
other ways wery stable, current uptime over 2 weeks.

Older one of my computers is a fresh installed Etch about month ago, I
tried the same site combinations which I mentioned earlier with no
problem, even all combinations at the same time. Okay it comes slow but
it doesn't freeze completely. Computer is Intel Celeron 700Mhz and 384MB
SDRAM 133Mhz so REALLY slower than the other.

Both machines are up to date, apt-get update + apt-get -u upgrade done
regurarly.

2006-12-07 Thread Juhani Karlsson
Package: flashplugin-nonfree
Version: 9.0.21.78.3
Followup-For: Bug #401619

Firefox is 1.5.dfsg+1.5.0.7-2 and same problem with Opera 9,
9.02-20060919.6.
I think this has anything to do with specific sites, I am able to
reproduce this easily in many variations. I like read daily news from
various categories and open sites in tabs, not able to do this anymore
with 9.0.21.78.3.
Before I was easily able to open even 30 sites in tabs with no problem
ever, now vith 10-15 sites Firefox totally freezes after few seconds of
opening the sites, allways and I simply have to kill firefox.
