I can confirm the same problem. Really annoying when creating partitions for RAID, really impossible to create large partitions of same size. I wanted to leave some empty space to end of drive for future use, only option to create last partitions was to make an estimated same size with gparted (not used to using parted and don't want to learn how just because fdisk is buggy. root@qwerty:~# fdisk /dev/sda Command (m for help): p Disk /dev/sda: 2000.4 GB, 2000398934016 bytes 255 heads, 63 sectors/track, 243201 cylinders, total 3907029168 sectors Units = sectors of 1 * 512 = 512 bytes Sector size (logical/physical): 512 bytes / 512 bytes I/O size (minimum/optimal): 512 bytes / 512 bytes Disk identifier: 0x000f27f2 Device Boot Start End Blocks Id System /dev/sda12048 275089 136521 fd Linux raid autodetect /dev/sda2 275090 14029762970011270 fd Linux raid autodetect /dev/sda3 140298240 3863635967 18616688645 Extended /dev/sda5 140300288 3863635967 1861667840 fd Linux raid autodetect Command (m for help): q root@qwerty:~# fdisk /dev/sdb Command (m for help): p Disk /dev/sdb: 2000.4 GB, 2000398934016 bytes 255 heads, 63 sectors/track, 243201 cylinders, total 3907029168 sectors Units = sectors of 1 * 512 = 512 bytes Sector size (logical/physical): 512 bytes / 512 bytes I/O size (minimum/optimal): 512 bytes / 512 bytes Disk identifier: 0x000742b2 Device Boot Start End Blocks Id System /dev/sdb12048 275089 136521 fd Linux raid autodetect /dev/sdb2 275090 14029762970011270 fd Linux raid autodetect /dev/sdb3 140298240 3861590015 18606458885 Extended /dev/sdb5 140300288 3861587967 1860643840 fd Linux raid autodetect Command (m for help): q root@qwerty:~# cat /proc/mdstat Personalities : [raid1] [raid6] [raid5] [raid4] md4 : active raid1 sdc2[0] sdd2[1] 1126268736 blocks super 1.2 [2/2] [UU] md2 : active raid1 sdb5[2] sda5[3] 1857650986 blocks super 1.2 [2/2] [UU] md3 : active raid1 sdd1[1] sdc1[0] 730957376 blocks [2/2] [UU] md1 : active raid1 sda2[1] sdb2[0] 70011200 blocks [2/2] [UU] md0 : active raid1 sda1[1] sdb1[0] 136448 blocks [2/2] [UU] unused devices: none root@qwerty:~# -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. Bug#682308: libcairo2: Slow tab switching in chromium w/ nvidia
After updating NVIDIA driver from http://www.nvidia.com/object/linux-display-ia32-304.51-driver.html to NVIDIA-Linux-x86-304.51.run like Przemysław Pawełczyk says here http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=682308 ..the issue should be resolved with the driver 304.30. Copy-pasting relevant part of debian changelog.. I had older driver than 304.30. First I upgraded librairo2 and then NVIDIA driver. Before NVIDIA driver fix update I solved problem by sticking in older version of libcairo2: cat /etc/apt/preferences Package: libcairo2 Pin: release a=wheezy, version 1.10.2-7 Pin-Priority: 500 Package: libgtk2.0-cil Pin: release a=wheezy, version 2.12.10-3 Pin-Priority: 500 Package: libglib2.0-cil Pin: release a=wheezy, version 2.12.10-3 Pin-Priority: 500 No problem anymore after that driver update and libcairo2 is now version 1.12.2-2. Chromium and Google Chrome work perfectly with dozens of tabs open simultaneously. I contacted Nvidia with the exact same information and ansver was: problem in the X server itself. . See below: Original Message Subject:Re: xserver-xorg: 7.5+2 = 7.5+3 upgrade causes xinerama grave functionality and segfault trying to move window between screens Date: Sun, 7 Feb 2010 12:04:15 -0800 From: Aaron Plattner aplatt...@nvidia.com Reply-To: linux-bugs linux-b...@nvidia.com To: juhani.karls...@iki.fi juhani.karls...@iki.fi CC: linux-bugs linux-b...@nvidia.com References: 4b6eb533.8050...@lrdlnx.iki.fi Dear Juhani, Since the problem did not occur with the older X server and does with the newer X server, even though the NVIDIA driver is the same, that indicates that the problem is caused by a bug in the X server. In addition, the backtrace you attached doesn't point to a problem in the NVIDIA driver, but rather a problem in the X server itself. I would suggest contacting the Debian support community for help. -- Aaron
Bug#568693: xserver-xorg: 7.5+2 = 7.5+3 upgrade causes xinerama grave functionality and segfault trying to move window between screens
Package: xserver-xorg Version: 1:7.5+3 Severity: important Hi I can log in and keyboard and mouse seem OK, but I am using Xinerama. When I try to move cursor to Screen1 (TV) or move window there strange things start happening. Cursor might just jump to other side of Screen0 or mouse and keyboard both freeze completely. If it freezes and I press some button like Num Lock to see if system is responsive it will kick me out and I end up back to gdm login screen. Freeze happends allways when trying to move any window from screen 0 - 1 any key pressing like numlock causes xserver allways to segfault, just like someone did /etc/init.d/gdm restart. I can repeat the segfault allways. Screen0 works but Screen1 area is inaccessible, I can see desktop of Screen1 but cannot move cursor there, or grab window from Screen0 there, Window tried to grab can be seen in Screen1 but cannot be moved further from Screen0 when cursor is about to cross Screen0 - Screen1 border. Tried to reinstall Nvidia drivers, no help. Problem began after updates installed last night (list of update log in the bottom). No config changes made, before last night everything worked just fine. Update Manager notified me about updates which I installed, problems began. my log /var/log/Xorg.0.log and below it my xorg.conf below it update log from last night below it lines from log Xorg.0.log after being kicked out of system to login screen, actually segfault log info is found in /var/log/Xorg.0.log.old because when I read it xserver has restarted. That is correct, removed with --purge (not sure if it actually requires --purge to fix problem) and problem solved. Million thanks! It's been a while since I run to a site than requires newer flash than 7 from flashplayer-mozilla so I thought to give a shot to flashplugin-nonfree and it works finally :) I also did some testing, opened in tabs simultaneously 29 sites many times, no problem, same speed as with flashplayer-mozilla.. thanks again guys, really pleased :) -- - Juhani Karlsson Kangastuvankatu 4 as 20 53500 Lappeenranta 0442727093 [EMAIL PROTECTED] [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://lrdlnx.iki.fi - -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe. Bug#401619: Info received (flashplugin-nonfree: I am also having the same problem which I noticed after flash upgrade)
It is slower, much slower from the beginning with every site with some flash in it, with multiple sites it totally freezes, you cannot even close window from the X on the right top corner, have to use kill-command from command line. I dont get the usual force close prompt window when something freezes and you keep clicking the X to close the window. I think this has somethin to do with upgrading from Sarge. I have two computers, the newer one is that which freezes totally, installation is from summer 2004, originally testing (Sarge was testing then), then upgraded to stable Sarge and few weeks ago to Etch. It has AMD Athlon 64 X2 4200+ Dual Core and 1GB DDR2 800Mhz so power is not the issue and in other ways wery stable, current uptime over 2 weeks. Older one of my computers is a fresh installed Etch about month ago, I tried the same site combinations which I mentioned earlier with no problem, even all combinations at the same time. Okay it comes slow but it doesn't freeze completely. Computer is Intel Celeron 700Mhz and 384MB SDRAM 133Mhz so REALLY slower than the other. Both machines are up to date, apt-get update + apt-get -u upgrade done regurarly. -- - Juhani Karlsson Kangastuvankatu 4 as 20 53500 Lappeenranta 0442727093 [EMAIL PROTECTED] [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://lrdlnx.iki.fi - -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe.
