Bug#469132: xfterm4: Slower desktops switching when an xfterm4 is opened

2008-03-03 Thread KnuX
Package: xfce4-utils
Version: 4.4.2-4
Severity: normal

Hi all!

I notice that when I have an opened xfterm4 in desktop 1 (for example), when I
switch to this desktop from the desktop 2 (fro example too), it takes nearly 2
seconds
before the desktop appears. If I reduce xfterm4 or close it, the delay
disappears.

I tried with a fresh .config directory, same problem.

Here is my terminalrc:

OK, since I don't use any composite stuff, this workaround works for me.
I'm curious about why *only* xfterm4 is trying to use composite since, I
my case, I ask it to display a black background without any transparency...

I don't notice this problem with other applications for the moment ;)

Thanks to you, Yves-Alexis ^^

Yeah, compositing is enabled by default in xorg now. You can disable it using

Bug#456977: samba: Windows 98/Me client with an existing user (good password) ask for a password to access IPC$

2007-12-18 Thread KnuX
Package: samba
Version: 3.0.28-1~lenny1
Severity: normal

Since an upgrade (I can not tell you which one), my Windows 98 client is no
longer able to access a shared home directory.
I log on Windows using a valid user/pass added by smbpasswd -a user. From a
XP client, the access is OK.

I didn't find out why this happens. On month ago, it works as usual. I edited
nothing.

So I think it's a bug... Or at least, debconf should notify a behaviour change
and suggest a solution.

Hope this help! ;)

Here is my my smb.conf :

#
# Sample configuration file for the Samba suite for Debian GNU/Linux.
#
#
# This is the main Samba configuration file. You should read the
# smb.conf(5) manual page in order to understand the options listed
# here. Samba has a huge number of configurable options most of which
# are not shown in this example
#
# Any line which starts with a ; (semi-colon) or a # (hash)
# is a comment and is ignored. In this example we will use a #
# for commentary and a ; for parts of the config file that you
# may wish to enable
#
# NOTE: Whenever you modify this file you should run the command
# testparm to check that you have not made any basic syntactic
# errors.

2007-12-11 Thread KnuX

Hi all,

I'm running OOo Writer Impress. I have an image in my odt document but when I
choose to copy it, I can't paste it in the odp document.
In fact, the pasted element is the previous text I copied... So I think Writer
doesn't copy the image to the clipboard.

I'm running Debian Sid with Xfce4 (and its clipman plugin).

Hope this help...

Bug#392550: ERROR: ld.so: object 'libaoss.so' from LD_PRELOAD cannot be preloaded: ignored.

2006-10-12 Thread KnuX
Package: alsa-oss
Version: 1.0.12-1
Severity: minor

Hi all,

I used to preload the libaoss.so file in order to get VMware working with Alsa.

For some days, I get this message :
$ LD_PRELOAD=libaoss.so exec vmware $@
ERROR: ld.so: object 'libaoss.so' from LD_PRELOAD cannot be preloaded: ignored.

And VMware doesn't see the emulated /dev/dsp file.

Since VMware doesn't work using aoss, is there a solution ?

Thank to you,
Maxime.

P.S : Sorry for the eventually double email... Reportbug was not configured for
my mail address and smtp ;)

Bug#370389: xfce4: ~/.menu content not displayed in the Xfce Menu after installing a program in french with wine

2006-06-04 Thread KnuX
Package: xfce4
Version: 4.3.90.1-2
Severity: normal

Hi all,

This bug occured on Xfce 4.2 and since it is still present in the 4.4, I submit
it.

First, I had a perfect Xfce Menu. I run the PhotoFiltre installer with wine,
it adds some entries in the ~/.menu/wine file and simultaneously, the debian
entry menu called Applications, and entry from CrossOver Office disappeared
from the Xfce Menu. I used wine, and not crossover, for installing photofiltre
;)

xsession-errors gives me theses lines:
(xfdesktop:5137): libxfcegui4-WARNING **: XfceAppMenuItem: 'name' failed utf8
validation for .desktop file
'/home/knux/.local/share/applications//menu-xdg/X-Debian-Wine-Programmes-PhotoFiltre-d\xe9sinstaller_photofiltre.desktop'

You can find the .menu directory before and after the install:
- http://www.ownz.us/~max/xfce/menu_bad.tar.bz2

If I remove the ~/.menu/wine file or replace the accentued characters, it's
ok. I hope this mail will help you to resolve this bug :$

Good luck, and thanks to you for xfce ;)

Bug#369286: hplip: Deskjet printer is turned on on boot and nightly

2006-05-28 Thread KnuX
Package: hplip
Version: 0.9.10-1
Severity: normal

Hi all,

I'm using Debian Unstable, and I thank you for the hplip package ;)

However, I found an annoying behaviour... When I boot my Debian, the printer is
turned on, what is not really necessary.
Also, each night, the printer is turned on too... I found these messages in
/var/log/messages:

May 28 06:26:19 localhost hpiod: removing usblp driver interface=0 for
hp:/usb/deskjet_5100?serial=MY41A4K3X57A io/hpiod/device.cpp 462
May 28 06:26:19 localhost kernel: drivers/usb/class/usblp.c: usblp0: removed

Is it possible to disable this auto-booting of the printer ? I notice that
only the power led was turned on, I have never eared the printer's mecanism.

Good luck ;)
KnuX.

2006-05-26 Thread KnuX
Package: libasound2
Version: 1.0.11-5
Severity: grave
Justification: renders package unusable

Hi all,

Since today, after an apt-get dist-upgrade on my Debian Unstable installation,
all of my applications are unable to play sounds.

Here is a simple example with aplay :
$ aplay cuac.wav
Playing WAVE 'cuac.wav' : Signed 16 bit Little Endian, Rate 11025 Hz, Mono
aplay: relocation error: aplay: symbol snd_pcm_hw_params_set_rate_near, version

Kaffeine crashes when they use alsa as output.

Good luck ;)

Bug#349335: apt-build: Except some packages from compiling during upgrade

2006-01-22 Thread KnuX
Package: apt-build
Version: 0.12.17
Severity: wishlist

During an apt-build upgrade, some packages such as gcc, g++, glibc, etc. was
recompiled since new versions were available.
However, these packages take very long time (more than 19h for me :() to be
compiled and are adviced to be exclude for the apt-build
world process (in the
apt-build's article).

I think it can be useful to except critical packages and packages we don't want
to be compiled.

Of course, we can choose to apt-get upgrade this package before running
apt-build, but this feature will be nice ;)

Thanks to you for apt-build,
KnuX.

Hi all,

I don't know if it is a NFS or mount related problem, but I decided to submit
it to you since I have this problem
for several months.

I have two PC under Debian Unstable : A server (PC-Server) and a client
(PC-Client).

On PC-Client :
- /etc/fstab :
192.168.1.2:/home/knux/amule /mnt/data/amule nfs bg,user,rw,nosuid 0 0

On PC-Server :
- /etc/exports :
/home/knux/amule 192.168.1.1/255.255.255.0(rw,sync)

When PC-Client is booting and PC-Server is unreachable (no network connection,
shut down machine, etc.), the boot
process stop when it tries to mount the PC-Server share.

I reproduce this problem on a Debian testing :
http://194.146.225.66/~max/nfs.png
As you can see, the latest line is a punct .. Actually, I have the done.
message and nothing else.

The only way I found to resume the boot process is to type CTRL+C, and no
background mount is done... So I have to
mount manually the NFS shares.

With the same server and a Mandriva 2006 as client, I have no problem with the
same line in /etc/fstab. This problem
occurs on Debian this the bg option is specified.

I'm not a developper, but I think that the mount start-up script doesn't
return. If I mount manually with mount -a
or mount /mnt/data/amule and the network is unreachable, it's OK I have the
error message and I can do another
commands.

Sorry if I submit this bug in the wrong list, I don't know where is really
located the problem ;)

Nevertheless, I hope this report will help you to resolve this problem and
forgive my english... (I'm french ;)).

Good 2006 year ;)

This package includes the important tools for controlling the network

Bug#314925: apt-build: Add an option to clean obsolete package in repository

2005-06-19 Thread KnuX
Package: apt-build
Version: 0.12.9
Severity: wishlist

Hi,

A repository can be very very big on the partition with the time.
I notice that all packages are in, even thoses which are obsolete (older
version, non-installed, etc.)

Is there a way to clean the apt-build's repository without cleaning all
packages ?

It can be interesting, no ? ;)

If there is another way, it can be good to document it :)

Good job,
KnuX

Description: HP Linux Printing and Imaging - gs IJS driver (hpijs)
This package contains the hpijs binary which provides Ghostscript
with an IJS driver for most inkjet printers and some LaserJet printers
manufactured by HP.
.
It includes the so-called rss patch, to use pure black ink instead
of composite black in printers that don't do color map conversion
in firmware.
.
Users of USB and JetDirect HP printers are advised to also install the
hplip package, and use the hp CUPS backend to send data to the printer.
Selecting any hpijs ppd in CUPS will use hpijs automatically.
.
Users of parallel-port HP printers are advised to install the hpoj
package, and use it to send the hpijs output to the printer.
.
HPIJS is meant to be used through the foomatic system (see the
foomatic-filters package).

Bug#314155: Unable to find source information for hpijs at /usr/bin/apt-build line 475. (source is called 'hplip')

2005-06-14 Thread KnuX
Package: apt-build

During an apt-build upgrade, the 'hpijs' package will be upgraded but
'apt-build' is Unable to find source
information while 'apt' seems to find it :

$ apt-get source hpijs

An apt-cache show hpijs give us an essential information I think : Source:

Good luck,

I don't know how to compile a package without apt-build :(

Does apt-build marks a package it hadn't be able to compile as not
upgrading ?

Since apt-build upgrade says there is no package to upgrade... ;)

Bug#312934: apt-build upgrade says there is no package when apt-get dist-upgrade founds 7 packages

2005-06-10 Thread KnuX
Package: apt-build

When I do 'apt-get dist-upgrade', I have this :
# apt-get dist-upgrade

The following NEW packages will be installed:
  dbus-glib-1 gcc-4.0-base openssh-client openssh-server
The following packages have been kept back:

The following packages will be upgraded:
  gobjc-3.3 libgcj-common libgnomevfs2-0 libgnomevfs2-common libgnomevfs2-dev
libobjc1 ssh
7 upgraded, 4 newly installed, 0 to remove and 1 not upgraded.
Need to get 3027kB/4609kB of archives.
After unpacking 446kB of additional disk space will be used.

But when I type 'apt-buid upgrade', this happend :
# apt-build upgrade

No packages need to be upgraded

I don't know if it's a bug, but it is ambiguous :)

Do you need further ?

P.S : I ran 'apt-get clean' before this.

Bug#311284: apt-build: build-dir is detected as invalid directory after editing conf

2005-05-30 Thread KnuX
Package: apt-build
Version: 0.12.7
Severity: normal

Hi all,

Since an apt-build install xserver-xfree86 fails because I had No space disk
left on a 2.5Go free space
partition (/var, strange...), I decided to move build and repository dir on
anothier partition.

But now, apt-build doesn't seem to like this...
I edit manually /etc/apt/apt-build.conf and I try dpkg-reconfigure before a
--purge process. Same problem on a new install.

I think it's a bug :)

Good job however !
