Bug#1028155: systemd-networkd resolves issue

2023-03-11 Thread LeJacq, Jean Pierre
The core issue is that the nginx is starting before the IPv6 address is bound.

systemd-networkd has a specific service, systemd-networkd-wait-online.service,
that will force all online services to wait until the network interfaces are
configured.

After switching to systemd-networkd from ifupdown, nginx now comes up
reliably.

I'm not sure if this is a bug in nginx. It may be worth an addition to the
documentation about this potential issue.

Bug#1028155: nginx-common: nginx fails to start on reboot when IPv6 enabled.

2023-01-07 Thread LeJacq, Jean Pierre
Package: nginx-common
Version: 1.22.1-5

Dear Maintainer,

* What led up to the situation?

I have a dual IPv4/IPv6 server with nginx listening on both with the following
directive:

server
  {
server_name "example.org";
listen 144.202.24.41:443 default_server ssl http2;

  }

When I reboot the server and login, systemctl report the following:

Restarting the nginx service resolves the issue.

This appears to be a dependency issue in the nginx.service file.

Bug#1028153: libnginx-mod-http-brotli-static: "brotli_static on;" causes "Vary: Accept-Encoding" to be added to every file (including images)

2023-01-07 Thread LeJacq, Jean Pierre
Package: libnginx-mod-http-brotli-static
Version: 1.0.0~rc-1+b1
Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,

*** Reporter, please consider answering these questions, where appropriate ***

   * What led up to the situation?

Installed package and enabled following configuration.

brotli_static on;

# brotli off;
# brotli_types
#   application/xhtml+xml
#   application/xml
#   image/svg+xml
#   text/css
#   text/javascript
#   text/plain
#   ;

   * What was the outcome of this action?

brotli compressed files properly served with the header Vary: Accept-Encoding".
However, all other files that are not compressed also have this header set with
the same value.

   * What outcome did you expect instead?

Module should only set Vary for brotli compressed files.

This is a known issue:

https://github.com/google/ngx_brotli/issues/97

And there is patch available:

https://github.com/google/ngx_brotli/pull/98

Please consider applying to the Debian release. Without this fix, the module is
essentially useless.

Bug#922049: #include

2019-02-18 Thread LeJacq, Jean Pierre
Dear Maintainer,

I've isolated where this is failing when using ed25519 keys.

The call to gcry_pk_verify() in the function challenge_verify_sexp() in the
file src/util/support.c fails with the error value 1677782. I believe the
issue is related to the hard-coding of the s-expression for the signature in
this line:

err = gcry_sexp_build (&sexp_signature, NULL, "(sig-val (rsa (s %m)))",
   mpi_signature);

I believe it needs to be generalized to support alternate signature
algorithms. For example, ed25519 requires the following s-expression:

   "(sig-val (ecdsa (r %?) (s %?)))";

The ECDSA signature is formed from two non-negative integers. I don't
understand the crypto well enough to map these to the RSA signature values.

If the maintainer could provide some pointers I may be able to provide a
patch.

Bug#887304: linux-image-4.14.0-0.bpo.2-amd64: Error crypto/algapi.c:348 and a long system boot.

2018-03-21 Thread LeJacq, Jean Pierre
I've tested the following two kernels from sid on a stretch system and they
both DO NOT exhibit this bug:

linux-image-4.15.0-1-amd64
linux-image-4.15.0-2-amd64

Instead of the kernel null pointer exception, I see the following in the boot
log:

kernel: usb 1-7: New USB device found, idVendor=8087, idProduct=0a2b
kernel: usb 1-7: New USB device strings: Mfr=0, Product=0,
SerialNumber=0
kernel: alg: ecdh: test failed on vector 3, err=-14
kernel: Bluetooth: Core ver 2.22

My bluetooth devices now work while they didn't with the 4.14.0 kernels.

Hi Yanhoo,

I wanted to check on the status of this bug.

We've packaged cJSON (1.5.9) for an internal project and are willing to either
maintain this ourselves or provide you and the collab-maint team with our
packaging.

Further testing shows the issue continues with 1.0.6. ssh works fine in most
cases. scp fails in all cases. Reverting back to 1.0.2 resolves the problem.

Yes I do indeed have libdbus-1-3 version 1.9.16 from experimental.

I'm not sure how I got dbus from sid but libdbus-1-3 from experimental. I will

Hi Sandro,

Here's a few observations. First my configuration:

- I have multiple identities and multiple accounts.
- One of the identities is set as the default.
- The sticky flag is not set on identity.

If I create a new email, the From address is properly quoted.

If I reply to an email in an account where the identity is not the default, it
is properly quoted.

If I reply to an email in an account where the identity is the default, it is
NOT properly quoted.

Try this combination.

Bug#730048: kmail does not properly quote From field when replying

2013-11-20 Thread LeJacq, Jean Pierre
Package: kmail
Version: 4:4.11.3-1
Severity: normal

When sending a new message, the "From" field is properly quoted. For example:

  From: "LeJacq, Jean Pierre"

When replying to a message, the "From" field in not quoted, resulting
in an incorrect address in the receipient's email client.

  From: LeJacq, Jean Pierre

If the Identity selection is toggled, the proper quoting is
applied. This is the workaround I am using.

Bug#684624: [chromium] Does nostart due to incorrect assumption about permission of /run/shm

2012-08-11 Thread LeJacq, Jean Pierre
Package: chromium
Version: 21.0.1180.75~r150248-1
Severity: normal
Tags: security
X-Debbugs-CC: secure-testing-t...@lists.alioth.debian.org

--- Please enter the report below this line. ---

On startup, chromium reports the following error:

[16213:16229:21996263860:ERROR:shared_memory_posix.cc(171)] Creating shared
memory in /dev/shm/.org.chromium.Chromium.mmqQyr failed: Permission denied

access(W_OK|X_OK) /dev/shm: Permission denied
[16213:16229:21996263956:FATAL:shared_memory_posix.cc(176)] This is frequently
caused by incorrect permissions on /dev/shm. Try 'sudo chmod 1777 /dev/shm'
to fix.

Aborted

However, the debian initscript package in /lib/init/mount-functions.sh sets
the permission to 755.

The recommendation made by chromium seems potentially dangerous since it
allows anyone to write to this directory.

Bug#663370: [package:gnupg-agent] gnupg-agent does not support openssh certificates

2012-03-10 Thread LeJacq, Jean Pierre
Package: package:gnupg-agent

--- Please enter the report below this line. ---

OpenSSH has supported certificates since version 5.6p1. gnupg-agent does not
appear to support
certificates as of 2.0.18.

When trying to add a private key that has both a standard public key and a
signed certificate, the
public key is added properly, but the certificate fails. A typical session is:

$ ls ~/.ssh/

Bug#570252: linux-image-2.6.32-2-vserver-amd64: unable to boot with blank screen and keyboard frozen

2010-02-25 Thread LeJacq, Jean Pierre
A recent update of another package, not linux-image-2.6.32-2-vserver-amd64,
appears to have resolved this issue.

The problem appears to have been the mode switching of
the console. The scenario is:

  1) boot with the initrd,
  2) decrypt the root partition,
  3) mount the root partition,
  4) switch console mode (previously screen went blank, now font is smaller)
  5) prompt for decrypting of remaining logical volumes. (previously invisible)

I think we can close the bug except you might want to consider
delaying the console mode switching to after all the volumes are
mounted. This would make the boot process more robust.

The box is completely frozen. Only the root partition was
able to be mounted before the system froze. I know the
others aren't mounted since they require decryption.

There is no network activity and no access to the box is possible.

Earlier releases of 2.6.32 worked fine.

Thanks Maimilian for looking into this.

Bug#570252: linux-image-2.6.32-2-vserver-amd64: unable to boot with blank screen and keyboard frozen

2010-02-17 Thread LeJacq, Jean Pierre
Package: linux-2.6
Version: 2.6.32-8
Severity: critical
Justification: breaks the whole system

grub-pc successfully loads the initrd images. After decrypting
the root file system, the boot fails with the screen going blank
and system unresponsive (keycap and Ctrl-Alt-Delete have no effect).

The last visible line appears to be something related to [drm].

The linux-image-2.6.32-2-amd64 has the same problem.

I am able to boot successfully boot using linux-image-2.6.30-2-amd64.

Bug#524350: update - success using ubuntu kopete-cryptography package

2009-12-22 Thread LeJacq, Jean Pierre
Downloading and installing the following ubuntu package enables gpg
in the debian kopete package:

  kopete-cryptography_1.3.0-kde4.3.0-0ubuntu2_amd64.deb

--force-depends is required since there is a dependency on libkleo4
(= 4:4.3.2-0ubuntu6). However, gpg does work fine.

I was not successful rebuilding the package on debian due to the
lack of headers for libkleo4. This clearly must be possible but
haven't worked out the details.

Hi Patrick,

Thanks for your quick response. Downgrading the packages did indeed
work and kdenlive now starts and basic operations appears to work.

Is a change in the library dependencies warranted? Or possibly a
warning in the README.Debian file?

Thank you for your work packaging kdenlive.

Package: kdenlive

On initial startup, the configuration wizard is successful run
with a few warnings (for example, Avformat module not installed though all
debian dependencies are satified). After selecting "finish", kdenlive
crashes with a segmentation fault. strace shows it was last trying to
open the .Xdefaults- file.

Thanks for your reply.

I'm aware that OTR but that isn't a replacement for gpg. The
lack of digital signatures is a non-starter for many organizations.

I would prefer to keep this bug open, possibly downgrading to
wishlist. There is no reason not to bundle both gpg and otr
together. Further, removing gpg during an upgrade is a significant
problem. I for one will not be upgrading to kde4 for this reason.

Bug#524350: kopete: gpg encryption support disappeared

2009-04-16 Thread LeJacq, Jean Pierre
Package: kopete
Version: 4:4.2.2-1
Severity: normal

On update to kde4, kopete no longer includes gpg encryption
support. This is a substantial downgrade that may prevent
many individuals and organizations from migrating to kde4.

Upstream still seems to support this functionality for kde4.

Bug#473177: libboost-date-time-dev: time_formatters.hpp incorrectly formats fractional seconds using global locale

2008-03-28 Thread LeJacq, Jean Pierre
Package: libboost-date-time-dev
Version: 1.34.1-9
Severity: important
Tags: patch

The function boost::posix_time::to_iso_string_type() uses the
ostream::operator<<() function to write the time. This later function
will use the current global locale to format each of the elements of
the time. In particular, when the global locale is set to en_US, the
fractional will be formatted to be 123,456 when there are six digits,
which is incorrect.

The proposed solution is to temporarily imbue the ostream with the
classic locale to disable formatting. The attached patch only applies
this to the fractional seconds but it would be more robust to apply to
the other time components as well.

This defect has already been reported upstream
http://svn.boost.org/trac/boost/ticket/1726.

This defect is similar to Debian Bug#469771.
