Bug#531577: regression: network-manager-kde stopped supporting pptp vpn's

2009-06-02 Thread Marcos Daniel Marado Torres
Package: network-manager-kde
Version: 1:0.7~~svn941706-1
Severity: important

Hi there, I marked the severity of this package "important" since this
is something that works in lenny's network-manager-kde and not in
squeeze's, so it is a regression that, for some of us (like me), renders
the package unusable. I understand that this might be seen an issue not
that severe, feel free to lower its severity if you think so.

As you probably know, in lenny if you have the following packages
installed:
* network-manager
* network-manager-kde
* network-manager-gnome
* network-manager-pptp
* network-manager-pptp-gnome

Then you can use network-manager-kde to connect to a PPTP VPN: it has a
dialog calling network-manager-pptp-gnome for that. If you upgrade all
those packages to squeeze's version (nm0.7), this doesn't happen
anymore, and network-manager-kde looses the ability to manage a PPTP VPN
connection.

This bug has been reported upstream:
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=174439

IMHO, this is a regression, making squeeze less functionable than lenny
(for KDE users, at least), and should be considered release critical.

Best regards,

Bug#497421: gmime2.2: Move gtk-doc-tools and docbook-utils to Build-Depends

2008-09-01 Thread Marcos Daniel Marado Torres
Package: gmime2.2
Version: 2.2.22-1
Severity: serious
Justification: no longer builds from source

Hi there,

gmime2.2 2.2.22-1 needs gtk-doc-tools and docbook-utils in
Build-Depends, so ./configure runs successfully. This is fixed in
2.2.22-2 (sitting in sid), but 2.2.22-1 is in lenny and has this
problem, so I'm opening this bug hoping that it gets considered Release
Critical, thus having 2.2.22-2 freeze unblocked, and getting it into
lenny.

Bug#479991: korganizer: bad dependency version

2008-05-07 Thread Marcos Daniel Marado Torres
Package: korganizer
Version: 4:3.5.5.dfsg.1-6
Severity: important

Hi there,

My korganizer does not start:

$ korganizer
korganizer: symbol lookup error: /usr/lib/libkorganizer_calendar.so.1:
undefined symbol:
_ZThn48_N4KCal8Calendar16incidenceUpdatedEPNS_13IncidenceBaseE

The problem is that korganizer depends on libkcal2b, but the dependency
should be stricter:

At this moment:
etch: korganizer 4:3.5.5.dfsg.1-6, depends on libkcal2b  (>= 4:3.5.5)
lenny: korganizer 4:3.5.9-2, depends on libkcal2b  (>= 4:3.5.9)

The problem here is that korganizer 3.5.5* needs libkcal2b 3.5.5*, and
korganizer 3.5.9* needs libkcal2b 3.5.9*. With just a >= like we have
now, it is possible to get (as I did) a version of libkcal2b more recent
than it should to work with the installed version of korganizer...

It seems to me that building this package depends on filepath, but that
isn't explicit, so build fails.

There are several places where you can see this failure:

Package: et131x-source
Severity: normal

Hi there,

This bug report is just to tell you that there's a new upstream version:
http://sourceforge.net/forum/forum.php?forum_id=792081

The version is called 1.2.3-2 (which reminds me that your versioning
scheme might be better if changed, since Debian is actualy on 1.2.3-7,
where -7 is the Debian version of the package and not the upstream
version...).

This version fixes one bug that was never reported here, but has been on
Ubuntu ( http://smallr.net/et131x-bug-ubuntu ) that causes a high CPU
load, with ksoftirqd eating a lot of CPU time.

Bug#460262: k3b ripping doesn't work as good as it could...

2008-01-11 Thread Marcos Daniel Marado Torres
Package: k3b
Version: 0.12.17-8
Severity: minor

Two things I've noticed while ripping a CD:
If a track has a / in its name, k3b will think that's not just the track
name: for instance

"Artist";"Track name"
"Múm";"sleep/swim"

In this case, k3b will act as this track is
"sleep";"swim"

Another thing I noticed is that, at least in a CD where the previous
issue happens, the mp3 files have all the id3 tags good but without the
number of track.

Best regards,
Marcos Marado

Bug#455759: ITP: crystal -- Crystal - a SSL-enabled MUD text-client

2007-12-11 Thread Marcos Daniel Marado Torres
Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist
Owner: Marcos Daniel Marado Torres <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>

* Package name: crystal
  Version : 0.3.0
  Upstream Author : Marcos Daniel Marado Torres <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>
* URL : http://talkerspt.no-ip.org/~mbooster/crystal
* License : GPLv2
  Programming Lang: C++
  Description : Crystal - a SSL-enabled MUD text-client

Cristal is a text-based MUD client that supports not only telnet
connection but also telnet-ssl connections. Crystal's philosophy is to
provide an interface as unclutted as UNIX telnet's, but with more
features, such as line editing, split-screen scrollback.

As a Debian user and the upstream author, I would most gladly be
interested in maintaining an official Debian package (which would be my
first). As you can see in the project's homepage, I already do the
packaging for it...

Marcos Marado

Bug#451097: knotes: bad dependencies

2007-11-13 Thread Marcos Daniel Marado Torres
Package: knotes
Version: 4:3.5.5.dfsg.1-6
Severity: normal

knotes depends on a set of libraries like kdelibs, but it had the
dependency marked as >= (for instance kdelibs4c2a (>= 4:3.5.5-1)).
At least one of those dependencies is broken: it should be
">= x and < y".

To test this and probably see which library is broken:
1) Pick up an etch Debian installation;
2) Install knotes and test it (it should work flawlessly);
3) Install basket from lenny (it will upgrade some libraries, but no
   problem for knotes there);
4) Try basket (it should work flawlessly);
5) Try running knotes again (it will crash).

Bug#448762: audacity uses lame, but Debian uses twolame

2007-10-31 Thread Marcos Daniel Marado Torres
Package: audacity
Version: 1.2.4b-2.1
Severity: normal

As it is packaged, audacity doesn't let you export to mp3 without using
non-Debian packages, since it is expecting you to have libmp3lame.so,
but the lame replacement in debian has only libtwolame.so ... So
audacity package should use libtwolame instead of libmp3lame.

I'm sorry for the severity, I think that this or "normal" or
"wishlist"... I just didn't tag it as an wishlist entry since I consider
this as needed to enhance Debian's usability.

Marcos Marado

error: Creating of pppd secrets file failed!
error: Loading module "ppp-compress-18" and "ppp_mppe" has been failed:
stop.

If you want more info, or for me to do some tests, please just ask me.
In the meantime, I'll try 0.8.9-1 to see if it has this problem
solved...

Best regards,
Marcos Marado

Bug#406335: Second Life dependencies

2007-01-24 Thread Marcos Daniel Marado Torres
There's the need to package xmlrpc-epi, since there's yet no available
version for Debian and this is a dependence of 2nd Life.

Should we ITP it?

Bug#407544: RFP: yamipod -- application to efficiently manage your iPod

2007-01-19 Thread Marcos Daniel Marado Torres
Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist

YamiPod is a freeware application to efficiently manage your iPod.

Website: http://www.yamipod.com/
Source: http://www.yamipod.com/download/click.php?action=go&to=yam-linux

It is freeware, with a custom license that only says:
"This program is distributed in the hope that it will be useful, but
WITHOUT ANY WARRANTY; without even the implied warranty of
MERCHANTABILITY or FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE."

I think it is extremely useful, not only because it is by itself an
alternative to iTunes, but because it's the only way I can find to
synchronize a Motorola ROKR on Debian.

Bug#406335: ITP: secondlife-client - a client for the Second Life online

2007-01-17 Thread Marcos Daniel Marado Torres
From: Lukas Fittl <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>:

> This package has some yet unpackaged dependencies, I am currently in
> the process of going through these dependencies and searching for
> possible alternatives if they are non-free (e.g. in the case of
> FMOD). Help with this package is appreciated.

Removing FMOD (and sound) in second life is easy. If you wish to avoid
FMOD, thus disabling audio, you may make these changes:
  * Remove the reference to 'fmod-3.75' in indra/SConstruct
  * Replace '-DLL_SDL=1' with '-DLL_SDL=1 -DLL_FMOD=0' in
indra/SConstruct
  * Comment-out the libfmod line in
indra/newview/linux_tools/client-manifest-i686

Maybe a first release of this package could come without sound support?
What are those other dependencies that are still unmet?
I'm willing to help you out in any way I'm able to...

I would gladly do it, but I just found that my /var/log/dpkg.log was an
empty file... I enabeled logging, did an apt-get -f install, and the log
just says:

2006-11-23 15:28:45 install wodim  5:1.0-1
2006-11-23 15:28:45 status half-installed wodim 5:1.0-1

Can I give you any other info?

Hi there...

This bug is acknoleged but there's no signs of progress since March,
when you tagged it as "upstream". I couldn't find nothing upstream
indicating intentions of fixing this.

Could you please give some status on this issue?

Thanks in advance,

Bug#356297: mutt: Depends should not include: exim4 | mail-transport-agent

2006-08-09 Thread Marcos Daniel Marado Torres
Hi there, and sorry for quoting this way, but I'm just copy-pasting from
the web:

Adeodato Simó said:
> This has been discussed extensively in the past. As I understand it,
> consesus was that it's ok for packages to "force" the presence of a
> package providing m-t-a in Debian systems.

Well, my understanding is that was the standard behaviour in the past,
but it is not anymore. An example of a package with a simillar
dependence is mysql-server. If you look to mysql-server 4.0 and 4.1 the
dependency is still there, but if you take a look to mysql-server-5.0
the dependence is now gone. That was in the result of a bug report like
this one (sorry, I lack the link) and discussion about the issue.
Unless there's a reason you _need_ a MTA to use mutt in Debian (and you
don't, I'm an user as example), the dependence shouldn't be there.

> I'm tagging this bug wontfix instead of closing it
You also tagged this as a 'wish', when this is not: it's a wrong dependency.

Best Regards,
Marcos Marado
