Bug#1069743: keepassxc does not support hardware keys, need to use keepassxc-full

2024-05-13 Thread Michael Musenbrock
Package: keepassxc
Version: 2.7.7+dfsg.1-2
Followup-For: Bug #1069743

I see that my initial report got hijacked into a keepassxc should be
keepassxc-full issue.
This is NOT what the original bug report is about, the split was mentioned in
the NEWS file,
so this is not my concern. BUT if this is seen as issue, it should be a
different report.

The original issue is simply, that in the hardened package, hardware key
support should imho
still be present, as it enhances security of the keepass DB, rather then
compromising it
(as networking, ... does).
I am not fimiliar with the keepass code, maybe hardware key support does open
up an additional
attack vector, which is not obvious.

Bug#1069743: keepassxc does not support hardware keys, need to use keepassxc-full

2024-04-23 Thread Michael Musenbrock
Package: keepassxc
Version: 2.7.7+dfsg.1-2
Severity: important

Hi,
first of all thank you very much for packaging keepassxc for Debian!

I am aware of the split of keepassxc and keepassxc-full and the idea is great,
to have a real network-less password manager.

But since the upgrade to version 2.7.7+dfsg.1-2 I am not able to use my keepass
database, as it is secured with a hardware key (YubiKey).
It seems since the split, keepassxc does not detect those either, which makes
it impossible to open the database.

If this is intentional, please close the issue, but it would still be
beneficial to have the isolated keepass working with a hardware key.

Everything works fine with keepass-full.

Thanks in advance,
br m

Bug#1020830: dnsmasq-base: address=/example.com/1.2.3.4 is not used when no-negcache is set with 2.87-1

2022-09-27 Thread Michael Musenbrock
Package: dnsmasq-base
Version: 2.87-1
Followup-For: Bug #1020830

Maybe the relation to no-negcache was just a coinsidence. I now experienced
again not respecting
the server entry, which the minimal config I provided before, which was working.

I currently see that eg right after a NetworkManager restart sub1.domain1.net
is sent to the dns
defined iva server=/domain1.net/1.2.3.4, and 15 minutes later sub2.domain1.net
is not sent to that one.

Will try to get more information and try to see if I can find another
relation/influence to the behavior.

Best regards Michael

2022-09-27 Thread Michael Musenbrock
Package: dnsmasq-base

Hi,

first of all thanks for providing dnsmasq, this is a really awesome tool!

Since the update to 2.87-1 I experienced that dns-queries for domains provided
via
address=/example.com/1.2.3.4 where not resolved via the given server.
After some trying around disabling 'no-negcache' restored the functionality
again.

I use dnsmasq via NetworkManager. The minimal config to show both behaviors are:

Failing config:
> no-negcache
> server=/domain1.net/10.140.16.40
> addn-hosts=/etc/hosts

netavarak was already installed, but aardvark-dns not. I uninstalled the
golang-github-containernetworking-plugin-dnsname and installed aardvark-dns.

I retried and checked 'podman info --format {{.Host.NetworkBackend}}', which
still
reported 'cni'.

So I changed the containers.conf and specified netavark as network_backend in
the
Network-section.

Afterwards 'podman info --format {{.Host.NetworkBackend}}' reported 'netavark'.

Now a dns-server is active in the network, but the other pods attached to the
network
still can't be resolved. But this may be just some config issue. I will check.

# dpkg -l | grep -e aardvark-dns -e netavark -e
golang-github-containernetworking-plugin-dnsname
ii  aardvark-dns 1.0.3-1+b1
ii  netavark 1.0.3-3

Afterwards I got the DNS issue again.

The reason why I tried the golang package in the first place, was that I saw
the following
message in a 'podman network ls'
 > WARN[] Error validating CNI config file

Hi,

since the update of libmaven-shared-utils-java to 3.3.4-1 the default maven
output lost color.
At least from the changelog this does not seem intentional.

'new' behavior:
 - Make sure libmaven-shared-utils-java is in 3.3.4-1 and a color supporting
terminal is used
 - run 'mvn -X': no color output !
 - run 'mvn -X -Dstyle.color=always': color output

previous behavior:
 - Make sure libmaven-shared-utils-java is in 3.3.0-1 and a color supporting
terminal is used
 - run 'mvn -X': color output !
 - run 'mvn -X -Dstyle.color=always': color output

I think this is a minor bug, and does not look intentional.

Thank you very much for maintaining this huge list of java package in Debian.

Package: kde-config-sddm

Hi Patrick,

thanks for that hint, I may got mislead by this and the case, that if I re-open
the SDDM settings
and click 'Change Background' the default? image gets shown and not the
currently configured one.

So I think this report should be closed, and I will check again for the wrong
image shown in the
'Change Background'-window. And report this issue separately.

PS: And setting a full path is even harmful, as the source background file is
deleted from the
filesystem once it is changed to another file.

Hi @all,
first of all thank you very much for the awesome work of the whole Qt/KDE
Maintainers of Debian,
and for always bringing updates that fast into the distribution.

Now to the problem: if I try to change the background of the SDDM theme via
systemsettings
(kde-config-sddm), the theme.conf.user file gets updated, but the
General.background is only
populated with the filename of the selected image. eg: background=5120x2880.jpg
instead of
background=/usr/share/wallpapers/SafeLanding/contents/images/5120x2880.jpg.

If you need any more information, I am happy to support with additional
information.

Hi there,

first of all thanks a lot for all the work of maintaining the maven package in
debian.

The last update to maven 3.6.3-2 in unstable dropped the dependency to

Bug#970395: firmware-nonfree: Please add AMD-SEV firmware files (amd-folder) to close CVE-2019-9836 on specific EPYC-CPUs

2020-09-15 Thread Michael Musenbrock
Source: firmware-nonfree
Severity: important

Dear maintainer,

first of all thanks for maintaining and packaging the linux-firmware files
repository as debian packages.

We currently need to manually obtain the
linux-firmware.git:amd/amd_sev_fam17h_model3xh.sbin [1] file on
our AMD EPYC servers. The firmware files containing the AMD SEV firmware
closing security vulnerabilities [2]
and fixes bugs and adds improvements to the AMD SEV implementation.

I'm most likely unqualified for legal questions but the LICENSE.amd-sev [3]
reads quite similar to the already
added amdgpu license [4]. So I hope this is not the reason, why those files
were not added in the past.

The severity was choosen because it fixes a security vulnerability, please
change accordingly if you think
it is wrong.

Thanks in advance. Best regards,
michael

Bug#862476: sort: -u combined with -n looses lines

2017-05-13 Thread Michael Musenbrock
Package: coreutils
Version: 8.26-3
Severity: important
Tags: upstream

Hi @all,

sort produces wrong output with combined '-u' and '-n' switch, if input lines
have an preceding '\' character.

# echo -e "\2\n\1\n\2" | sort -u -n

expected output:
 \1
 \2

actual output:
 \2

I tried it with different local settings, all produces the same output.

# echo -e "\2\n\1\n\2" | sort -u | sort -n
and
# echo -e "\2\n\1\n\2" | sort -n | sort -u
procude an correct output.

Seems that the '\' may be interpreted as escape sequence somewhere.

Regards Michael

Bug#826944: apt-get update: 'Failed to stat ... TransactionState-stat' with deb-src line in sources.list

2016-06-10 Thread Michael Musenbrock
Package: apt
Version: 1.2.12
Severity: important

Hi,

if I add a deb-src line (see sources.list at the end) apt-get update reports an
error:
# E: Failed to stat
/var/lib/apt/lists/partial/ftp.debian.org_debian_dists_testing_InRelease -
pkgAcqTransactionItem::TransactionState-stat (2: No such file or directory)
# W: Duplicate sources.list entry ftp://ftp.debian.org/debian testing Release

I have commented all other source.list entries, and moved sources.list.d. The
error still
occurs with the two single lines:
# deb http://ftp.debian.org/debian testing main non-free contrib
# deb-src ftp://ftp.debian.org/debian testing main non-free contrib

Afterwards i can still use apt, but my apt-pinning is broken (should be 900 but
falls back to
default 500), so I am not sure if the apt cache is consistent.

If I remove the deb-src lines, everything works as expected, no error message,
apt-pinning
works fine.

What can I do to help do debug the issue?

Best regards,
Michael

Bug#792875: What plasmoid causes the crash?

I have no idea, I was not missing a specific plasmoid after my change.
But there is an qCDebug(SYSTEMTRAY) call in the code section, which logs the
packageName
and appletId, how can I enable the debug logging in Debian for systemtray? I
tried to add
'systemtray.debug=true' to

~/.config/QtProject/qtlogging.ini
~/.config/qtlogging.ini
~/.config/plasma-workspace/qtlogging.ini
~/.config/plasma-workspace/QtProject/qtlogging.ini

without any success.

Can you help me with activating that debug output?

Bug#753297: apt list --upgradable gives lot of false positives: possible solution

2014-07-21 Thread Michael Musenbrock
Package: apt
Version: 1.0.6
Followup-For: Bug #753297

Hi all,

for me the problem (listing packages as upgradable if they are not) occurs for
all
packages, which have a newer version in an archive with lower APT:Pinning score.

So if I understood the source correctly, the pkgPolicy handles the candidate
version
in respect to the correct pinning.
The attached patch [1] should do the trick.

Regards Michael

Hmm, it looks like I haven't set up reportbug quite right so I didn't
get much in the way of useful information automatically with your bug.

So, should grub reports better filed to the grub-[pc,efi,...] packages?

 Could you please run:

 /usr/share/reportbug/handle_bugscript /usr/share/bug/grub-pc-bin/script
 grub.out

... and attach the grub.out file created by that command, as well as the
 output of 'sudo debconf-show grub-pc'?

I've attached those files.

Please answer n to the LVM question - answering y and then failing
to provide correct su authentication means that it gives me incomplete
output. (The script is a bit flaky now that I look at it.)

And here we go again.

yfji, I ran the script as root on the first run, so definitely no su auth
failure, but missing lvm command errors instead, which seems to mess up
the output as well.

Bug#707653: grub2-common: After Grub 2.00-14 upgrade, system failed to boot (rescue, old grub 1.99 still in mbr)

2013-05-09 Thread Michael Musenbrock
Package: grub2-common
Version: 2.00-14
Severity: critical
Justification: breaks the whole system

Hi,

after upgrading grub from version 1.99-27.1 - 2.00-14 [1] the system
was not able to boot.

On reboot the grub rescue' prompt was displayed.

After
 # grub rescue set prefix=(hdX,)/boot/grub/grub2
 # grub rescue insmod normal
 # grub rescue normal
the normal grub prompt was back, and there was still version 1.99-27
installed.

After another reboot i did:
 # grub rescue set root=(hdX,Y)/boot
 # grub rescue set prefix=(hdX,)/boot/grub/grub2
 # grub rescue insmod part_msdos
 # grub rescue insmod ext2
 # grub rescue insmod linux
 # grub rescue linux /boot/vmlinuz-3.8-1-amd64 root=/dev/sdaX
 # grub rescue initrd /boot/initrd.img-3.8-1-amd64
 # grub rescue boot
so I was able to start the system.

After normal system start, I ran:
# grub-install /dev/sda
# update-grub

afterwards the system booted normally, grub was welcoming me now
with version 2.00.

It seems to me, that the grub-install, or whatever mechanism is used
internally to write the new grub, was not run on upgrade.

Regards,
Michael

Bug#581409: plasma-widgets-addons: Picture frame ignores directory symlinks in recursive mode

2010-05-12 Thread Michael Musenbrock
Package: plasma-widgets-addons
Version: 4:4.4.3-1
Severity: normal
Tags: patch

Hi there,

if I add a directory to the picture frame for the slideshow, all subdirectories
which are symlinks are ignored, normal directories are included and the
contained pictures are shown.

This behaviour is new in version 4.4.3, the debian version of 4.3.4 (4:4.3.4-1)
has shown all pictures from symlink subdirectories.

Added a path which restores the old (and in my opinion correct) behaviour.

Regards,
Michael

So that the patch will break the whole thing on ubuntu, he can't
use the patch for the ubuntu system, I think that was the reason.

@Alexander
Prepared a new patch, this one can be used both for the ubuntu
and the debian package. So you can use the 'same' build rules on
both systems (Have no Ubuntu system to test).

Bug#568982: sqldeveloper-package: fails to build debian package, dos2unix is missing, which is not provided from tofrodos anymore

2010-02-09 Thread Michael Musenbrock
Package: sqldeveloper-package
Version: 0.2.3
Severity: grave
Tags: patch
Justification: renders package unusable

Hi there,

Since the tofrodos package removed the symlink 'dos2unix' (which pointed to
/usr/bin/fromdos),
the sqldeveloper package creation is interrupted. So just change the dos2unix
command in the
script to fromdos. (See patch)

To not run into problems if somebody has old sysutils installed and so only the
dos2unix
command exists, I would suggest to remove sysutils from the dependency:
tofrodos | sysutils (= 2.0.0-1),
because this package isn't available in Debian anymore.

Regards,
Michael

Bug#553288: kdelibs5: add r1033984 to fix various crashes

2009-10-29 Thread Michael Musenbrock
Package: kdelibs5
Version: 4:4.3.2-2
Severity: normal

By introducing r1032787 (which is done with patch
01_r1032787_khtml_show_hide_fix.diff, another bug was introduced [1].
Now some application windows crash on closing, so some currently done
changes are probably lost.

So please add SVN commit 1033984, as mentioned in comment #9 in the
upstream bugreport [2], to fix that error.

So please replace patch 01_r1032787_khtml_show_hide_fix.diff, with the
new attached one.

Bug#547571: kdemultimedia-kio-plugins: incomplete support for mixed mode (audio/data) cd's

2009-09-20 Thread Michael Musenbrock
Package: kdemultimedia-kio-plugins
Version: 4:4.3.1-1
Severity: normal

Hi there,

if I put a mixed mode CD into my drive and open it up with dolphin, I only see
the data
part of the cd. There should be an option to select the data or audio part or
integrate
both views into one or show two different mediums (I would favour the last
option).

Playing the audio cd with kscd works fine, so it seems that kdemultimedia
recognizes also
the audio part. But I don't have the nice ripping options in dolphin, that's a
little bit
annoying.

Hopefully we can see a support for that in a future release.

Michael

I just found out, that if I type into the dolphin-address-line
'audiocd:/' manually,
I get the audio support in dolphin back. Maybe a 'graphical' way to use
the audio
capabilities would be nice.

So it's fine for me, if you guys wanna change the severity level to

Bug#541145: grub-pc: menu and kernels load extremely slow

This is a regression from 1.96+20090725-1. After installing the new

this time I can hear a strange very regular clicking/beeping sound from
my hard disk as if the head is repeating the same motion over and over
 again.

Hi there, I have the same problem as Kevin, grub needs an extreme long time
until the menu is loaded, and after the selection the waiting goes on.

The only thing I can think of which might affect this is the switch from
ascii.pf2 to the unicode font unicode.pf2
Try changing the font back in grub.cfg to ascii.pf2.
But that shouldn't affect loading of the kernel.

I changed that for testing purpose, but there was no difference to the unicode
version.

Any other suggestions?

Mike

Bug#399632: iceweasel 3.0~rc2-1 (now in sid) also affected

2008-06-10 Thread Michael Musenbrock
Package: iceweasel
Version: 3.0~rc2-1

The bug still exists in new Iceweasel package in sid, if this bug would
be also in lenny, that would be quite annoying.
Maybe considering raising this bug? Because if the value is set wrong,
also other applicatons get affected, which use the gnome default browser
setting to open links in an external browser.

Bug#477552: gnome-panel: Panel disapears running netbeans (from netbeans.org) with metacity composite enabled

2008-04-23 Thread Michael Musenbrock
Package: gnome-panel
Version: 2.20.3-3
Severity: normal

I've installed Netbeans IDE from netbeans.org (locally as user in home
directory) and after I've started the application the gnome-panel
disappears, but the whole functionality of the gnome-panel is still
there.
So if I click on the upper left corner the menu opens, which i can see.

This behavior is only present, if I have the metacity compositing
activated.

With the debian netbeans packages this does not happen and everything
works fine.

I'm using the proprietary Nvidia display driver, maybe this info helps.

The package python-setuptools was already installed. So that seems not
to be a good starting point.

But, for a short time i was able to use elisa. Last week I added an external
TV Screen and changed my xorg.conf to use the second monitor, (seperate
X Server) and after that i was able to use elisa, but only on my lcd not
on the
tv screen. But for now, elisa shows the same behaviour, also with tv screen
connected. I will have a look at it, if i've some time left this week
and play a
little bit with the settings and maybe i can determine the xorg-settings
on wich
elisa (or pigment) fail or/and work.

Bug#472624: fails to start: elisa silently dies

2008-03-27 Thread Michael Musenbrock
Package: elisa
Version: 0.3.5-2
Followup-For: Bug #472624

So, can you give any informations on which config it does work?
For me, it does not work with no config, this means also on
clean installs. And it does not work with my old config
(which was, as far as i know, an untouched one from the old
version in unstable).

And so, if this version will go to lenny, the package will be unusable
for all stable users, which will entirely install this with no config,
so I think this bugs severity should still be grave.

I've found my old elisa config ~/.elisa on my backups, should I add it
to this bug report or start a new one, which reports upgrading problems
from the old version?

Regards,
   Michael

2008-03-25 Thread Michael Musenbrock
Package: elisa
Version: 0.3.5-1
Severity: grave
Justification: renders package unusable

After upgrading to the latest version of elisa, the packages
seems to be unusable.

First after upgrade, I run elisa, got a splash screen, and then elisa
dies. From console I got some WARN's like, couldn't bind backend1,
couldn't bind frontend1.

Then I read in bugreport 471640 to do a dpkg-reconfigure elisa and
rm -rf ~/.elisa . I did this and now I can't get even error outputs
or log messages (tried also with command line options -l and -t).

With strace i get a lot of 'No such file or directory) errors.

strace output (not the full one), sorry for in-mail strace post.

Bug#472672: gnome-terminal: Opening Tabs resizes terminal window, closing tabs shrinks it

2008-03-25 Thread Michael Musenbrock
Package: gnome-terminal
Version: 2.22.0-1
Severity: normal

gnome-terminal has some resizing problems when opening and
closing tabs.

1. Open terminal window
- 80x24 terminal
2. Open Tab
- Whole window shrinks in height in spite of the fact
that the tab bar is no added, so the terminal size
   is now 79x21
3. Close Tab
- terminal keeps 79x21, whole windows shrinks, because
   tab bar disappears
4. Open Tab
- terminal is now 78x18, whole window shrinks
5. Close Tab
- terminal keeps 78x18, tab bar disap.
6. Open Tab
- keeps 78x18, tab bar added
and so on

Terminal size doesn't go down under 78x18. The closing tab things
works as expected (keeps terminal size and remove tab bar).

Maybe it has something todo with the gnome libs, some 2.22 libs still
aren't available on sid amd64. If so, I would suggest to set 'harder'
dependencies.

Bug#468254: bash-completion: strange behavior on ls and spaces

2008-02-27 Thread Michael Musenbrock
Package: bash-completion
Version: 20060301-2
Severity: important

I've installed the bash-completion package and now i've some strange
behavior on the completing path- and filenames with commands like ls,
cp or move.

I give you an example for better understanding:

ls /my/ 2xtab -- works
ls /my/folder 2xtab -- works
ls /my/folder/some\ subfolder/ 2xtab -- does not work any more

And, as far as I know, filepath completion isn't done (or were not be
done yet) by sourcing /etc/bash_completion in, so all in all, this type
of completion shouldn't get affected by a new /etc/bash_completion,
which is the only real thing, what this new package is updating.

Kind regards,
Michael

Bug#445134: azureus: always crashes on starup

2007-10-04 Thread Michael Musenbrock
Hi!
I have not seen this before. Searching Google for Xlib: unexpected
async reply gives many results. Have you tried asking the Azureus
authors? Perhaps they have seen this before.
I'm getting the same behavior here, but if you're using gnome 2.20, like
I do,
the problem seems not to be azureus.

Have a look at this:

Bug#407601: trackballs: segfault after pressing Start Game, mouse is unuseable afterwards in

2007-02-28 Thread Michael Musenbrock
Brice Goglin wrote:
 Hi Michael,

Hi Brice
Do you still reproduce this problem with the latest Xorg/Etch?
Yes, still same problem and behavoir, with an up-to-date SID.
Could you try the Mesa 6.5.2 packages that are in experimental?
Updated, still same problem.
Also, it would be better to see a gdb backtrace than the output of valgrind.
 To do so, you
could install libgl1-mesa-dri-dbg and run trackballs within gdb.

I send you the gdb output, put i'm not familiar with debugging programs,
maybe you can give me advise, to get more informations out of gdb.
 Thanks,
 Brice

Bug#407601: segfault after pressing Start Game, mouse is unuseable afterwards in X

2007-01-20 Thread Michael Musenbrock
I did a valgrind test with trackballs, i add the last lines, before the
segfault.
Hopefully that gives you some more informations.

I tried to start my X server without DRI extension, hinted by the valgrind
output. The menu was fine, but if i try to start the game, now the whole
X server is crashing.

bye,
Mike

Bug#407601: trackballs: segfault after pressing Start Game, mouse is unuseable afterwards in X

2007-01-19 Thread Michael Musenbrock
Package: trackballs
Version: 1.1.2-1
Severity: important

The menu of the game works fine, but if i try to start a new game
trackballs is ending with an segmentation fault.

Afterwards, the mouse isn't useable anymore in X, there's just no
reaction. The trackball process isn't running anymore.
If I'm going to restart the game, my mouse is working (in the game
window) and if I stop trackballs in a correct way (press quit in the
menu), the mouse is working also in X.

I also get a Warning: to fast framerate (0.00), after starting
trackballs, i don't know if that's important.

I attach the last 100 lines form the strace output, maybe it helps
someone.
