Bug#552134: amavisd-new: supplied logcheck ignore rules let everything through
Package: amavisd-new Version: 1:2.6.1.dfsg-1 Severity: minor Tags: patch I use postfix, amavisd-new, clamav, spamassassin. And logcheck (with default, server setting) Logcheck sends me a lot of reports from the logfile about amavisd-new results. As I see in the /etc/logcheck/ignore.d.server file, an attempt was made to filter out some of the unnecessary reports. However, the 'Passed CLEAN' rule does not match. And the 'WARN: address modified' rule doesn't match either. Here is a sample log line that got through: Oct 23 14:02:37 spark amavis[1199]: (01199-02) Passed CLEAN, logch...@uvill.hu - logch...@uvill.hu, Message-ID: 20091023120233.4c1dd25...@mail.uvill.hu, mail_id: Sjiu0FmRJKMZ, Hits: -2.593, size: 2739, queued_as: 13C0923693, 3797 ms this changed rule seem to work for me: ^\w{3} [ :[:digit:]]{11} [._[:alnum:]-]+ amavis\[[[:digit:]]+\]: \([-[:digit:]]+\) Passed CLEAN,( \[[.:[:xdigit:]]+\]){0,2} [^]* - [^]*(,[^]*)*, Message-ID: [^]+( \((added by[^)]+|sfid-[_[:xdigit:]]+)\))?,( Resent-Message-ID: [^]+,)? mail_id: [-+[:alnum:]]+, Hits: (-[.[:digit:]]*)+, size: [[:xdigit:]]+, queued_as: [[:xdigit:]]+( OK id=[-[:alnum:]]+)?, [[:digit:]]+ ms$ also please create rules to ignore 'Passed BAD-HEADER', 'Passed SPAMMY', 'Blocked SPAM', and some others. Bug#509027: hal: overloads the machine - have to reboot
Package: hal Version: 0.5.11-6 Severity: important On my laptop, if I have the DVD drive in place (hda), after some time I notice that the system is not responding. The KDE system monitor on the panel shows 100% kernel CPU time (I have core2 duo, and 100% means both cores are working hard). When this happens, the system appears to be frozen, when I move the mouse, the pointer reacts several seconds later. For a long time when this condition happened, all I could do was to switch off the power. Now I have found out that if I start shut down of the machine (keyboard combination, because the mouse is unusable), the system actually shuts down, but it takes like 15 minutes. (Actually today I had to switch off twice, keyboard shutdown did not work) When X is not running anymore, and I see the console, I see these messages printed (or similar, I copy these from syslog): Nov 7 10:09:18 karvaly kernel: [ 7613.343967] hda: status timeout: status=0xd0 { Busy } Nov 7 10:09:18 karvaly kernel: [ 7613.343967] ide: failed opcode was: unknown Nov 7 10:09:18 karvaly kernel: [ 7613.343967] hda: drive not ready for command I'm not sure if I see the status timeout on the console, but I see the failed opcode and the drive not ready. Then very slowly the shutdown procedure is running, sometimes I can see a message printed on the console among the continuous flow of hda error messages. When the system stops hal, there are no more hda error messages, and the rest of the shutdown process is completed fast. So I assume that hal is trying to do something that overloads the machine. I would expect that if there is a condition that causes this behaviour, this condition could be treated differently... Like if it tries something, but does not get a response fast enough, it should instead time out... you get the idea. Or if the drive reports an error, it would be nice if hal chose to ignore this drive (for a while or forever) To have an idea about the speed of the shutdown process, here are the syslog entries that are not related to the hda error: Nov 7 10:08:48 karvaly shutdown[23251]: shutting down for system halt Nov 7 10:09:13 karvaly init: Switching to runlevel: 0 Nov 7 10:12:53 karvaly kernel: [ 7828.637659] iwl3945: No space for Tx Nov 7 10:12:53 karvaly kernel: [ 7828.637659] iwl3945: Error sending REPLY_LEDS_CMD: iwl3945_enqueue_hcmd failed: -28 Nov 7 10:17:03 karvaly /USR/SBIN/CRON[23303]: (root) CMD ( cd / run-parts --report /etc/cron.hourly) Nov 7 10:21:08 karvaly postgrey: 2008/11/07-10:21:08 Server closing! Bug#251433: dovecot-common: Post sarge
Package: dovecot-common Version: 1.0.rc15-2 Followup-For: Bug #251433 It's been almost two years. We are post sarge. In the etch version this thing is also present. I have just installed a security upgrade. I have upgraded libpq4. I started to wonder why was it installed on the first place as I don't have postgres installed. It turns out dovecot depends on it. Would it be very difficoult to change the package in a way that it uses a library if it is installed, and doesn't use it if it is not installed? And then you could move libpq, libsqlite, libmysqlclient to suggested/recommended. libldap also, I suppose And I wouldn't have to install security updates for software that I never wanted to install. Bug#425981: mailman: public list archive has invalid URL, only private URL works
Package: mailman Version: 1:2.1.9-7 Severity: normal I have a list, archiving is activated, the archive is set to be public. On the listinfo page and on tha admin page the links to the list archives point to http://server/pipermail/listname Following this link you get 404. Writing https://server/cgi-bin/mailman/private/listname it works. This is the link that I have on the admin page if I switch the archive to private. This link works even if the archive is set to public (you have to authenticate yourself) So it seems that the list archives are always private, and setting it to public changes the URL on the pages only. Do you have TLS enabled for smtpd on this server? The submitter of 415670 does, and 2.3.8 was a new upstream version mostly for the purpose of fixing a bug with broken SSL ciphers, so this seems the most likely cause here -- though this doesn't demonstrate that the regression is a bug in postfix, as it may simply be a misconfiguration that was previously undetected by postfix. I do. But checking 415670 I have noticed that people experience the problem only when they try to _use_ TLS. In my case when I do a telnet moto smtp, it never greets me, it prints the problem in the logs, and the client just waits. FWIW, I've also just configured tls for smtpd here as a test, and I can connect to it without any errors. All I know is that the upgrade breaks a working system, and I don't even get a helpful error message. Cheers, Gabor -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe. Bug#404629: linux-image-2.6.18-3-686: ifdown bcm43xx interface causes system to freeze
Package: linux-image-2.6.18-3-686 Version: 2.6.18-7 Severity: important I have a laptop, and an Asus Wifi card. lspci says this: 03:00.0 Network controller: Broadcom Corporation BCM4306 802.11b/g Wireless LAN Controller (rev 03) When inserted, the bcm43xx module is loaded. This card sometimes looses the network signal. When this happens, I usually do an ifdown eth2; ifup eth2, and the card gets a new connection, and new IP address. With linux-image-2.6.18-3-686 installed this no longer works. When I run ifdown eth2, the processor starts to work like hell. When in X, I cannot move the pointer, cannot type anything, so there is only one thing I can do: turn off the machine, losing all my work, fsck at next boot, etc. Very annoying. So at the end I found out that 'rmmod bcm43xx' does not return, and it just causes 100% system CPU usage. Intresting thing in the logs when inserting the module: Dec 25 22:15:06 localhost kernel: bcm43xx: ASSERTION FAILED (bcm43xx_status(bcm) == BCM43xx_STAT_INITIALIZED) at: drivers/net/wireless/bcm43xx/bcm43xx_main.c:1865:bcm43xx_interrupt_handler() When card was removed after the lost connection Dec 26 00:13:53 localhost kernel: pccard: card ejected from slot 0 Dec 26 00:14:00 localhost kernel: bcm43xx: ASSERTION FAILED (!err) at: drivers/net/wireless/bcm43xx/bcm43xx_main.c:4015:bcm43xx_net_stop() With 2.6.17-2-686 the module can be removed, and the card can be reconfigured. So now I don't dare to use 2.6.18-3-686 anymore, 5 freezes in 2 days were enough. Bug#403677: openoffice.org: Opening .xls file puts me in OOo writer instead of in calc
On 06-Dec-19 20:36, Jim Watson wrote: It doesn't happen to all the .xls files, only the ones I have received. So probably there is something special in the files, that makes OOo open them in writer. It sometimes happens that files with .xls extension are actually html or csv files. Such files may be created by some internet download process. These files are plain text so try and open the problem files with a simple text editor such as gedit, vi or whatever, and see what happens - if it is text then report here the first few lines is enough. Also try rename the file to end with .csv and then try to open in calc. Hi, I think you were right. I don't know how real .xls files look like, but my files look like this: html xmlns:o=urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office xmlns:x=urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:excel xmlns=http://www.w3.org/TR/REC-html40; lang=hu head titleOTPdirekt Internet/title META content='application/vnd.ms-excel; charset=ISO-8859-2' http-equiv='Content-type' meta name='ProgId' content='Excel.Sheet' So it seems to be html. I have tried to change the extension to .csv and .html. .csv is completely bad, .html also opens in writer, just as .xls Can I somehow tell the program to open the file in Calc anyway? Now that I have checked it seems that even all the old files I have received were the same html stuff, but it seems that until around August 2006 my OpenOffice.org has opened them in Calc. (At least until that point I have .sxc or .ods versions of the same files, because it was easy to open and save as .ods). Since August I have the .xls files only. Bug#387375: module-assistant: could not build rt2500 module
Package: module-assistant Version: 0.10.6 Severity: normal Hi! I have installed rt2500-source. As found in the README.Debian, I have tried to build it with module-assistant. module-assistant prepare has downloaded the build-essential package, so gcc 4.1. Then module-assistant build rt2500 has failed because the required gcc 4.0 package was not installed. I don't know which package has the bug here, but apparently someone is trying to use a specific gcc version. I think either we should accept another gcc versions, or if gcc4.0 is really necessary, some dependencies should install it. Bug#360240: umbrello export diagrams as picture generates bad .eps, .svg
Package: umbrello Version: 4:3.4.3-1 Severity: normal There are several problems with the encapsulated postscript and scalable vector graphics export. I have created several diagrams, that look mostly OK on screen. When I create a .png, I get what I had on screen. When I create a .eps, from the class diagram, the boxes have different size (there are big empty spaces on the right of the texts), the connector lines are different angle (I suppose because of the differently sized and positioned boxes). On all activity diagrams some connector lines end in mid-air, like the arrow head does not touch its target, in one place it is only 1/3 of the needed length. The svg is better, but the boxes are still too big. Bug#359670: eric: Fatal Error when opening a project file that it has just saved
Package: eric Version: 3.8.1-1 Severity: minor I have created a new project. I have added some files, etc., then saved the project, and quit eric. Next I tried to open the project it has just saved, and I couldn't. It just waits forever. After some experiments I have found out that eric doesn't like to read accented characters. Right now I use a project with ascii characters only, and it works as a workaround. (But it would be nice to be able to use normal, accented words). It seems that ERIC takes all the FIXME lines from my code, and put them in a file, projectname.e3t Right now when I open the project, I get this error: Fatal Error /home/gee/work projects exercises/Dm/kameleon--Dm--0.1--patch-1/diplomamunka.e3t Line: 87, Column: 6 Character data not allowed outside root element Of course this is a file that eric has saved itself, and no-one has ever modified it. I think the problem is the same, with the accented character in the description (which is what eric has taken from the source). This todo doesn't show up in the todo list. I will attach the files of a new project that I have created and won't open, and the above mentioned e3t file that eric complains about.
