Bug#622768: #622768 gnome-keyring lost passwords after suspend,reboots, logouts,.. (network-manager, empathy, evolution)

2011-04-26 Thread Noèl Köthe
tags 622768 + confirm

Hello,

I can confirm the described problem.
As far as I could test the reason for this is the gnome-keyring package
in version 3.x in sid. Applications like empathy, network-manager and
evolution (sid versions) asked me every logon all my passwords again and
used them until the next resume or logon.

An update of the packages to the gnome 3 ones fixed the problem for me.

aptitude install -t experimental empathy evolution gconf2

The problem/bug should be fixed when gnome3 is uploaded to sid afaik.

Maybe ICQ and the other supported IM protocols could be listed in the

Ah, no, not related then. Not unless you're using always_rest in

I tried to reproduce your problem several times on my machine (amd64,

Can you send us the output of wget --debug

Debian squeeze will not be shipped with an very old version of an important part

Its now 3.6.8 and users should update to 3.6.x acording to upstream:

Firefox 3.5.x will be maintained with security and stability updates until
August 2010.
All users are strongly encouraged to upgrade to Firefox 3.6.

Icedove/Thunderbird 3.1 would use xulrunner 1.9.2, too and could be in squeeze,

Thanks alot for your work and a 3.6 is sid/squeeze would be great for users.

If anyone can replicate evolution-data-server staying after the user has logged
out then please re-open this, but evolution-data-server does exit when there is
nothing using it. Generally the problem is that other applications are staying
open when they should have quit.

evolution compose windows (To:, body,...) the cursor stopped blinking.

Can you confirm it is fixed?

Bug#507431: #507431 evolution: ? is displayed instead of date, although Date: is specified in header.

2010-04-11 Thread Noèl Köthe
Hello Paul,

Am Sonntag, den 11.04.2010, 13:26 +0200 schrieb Paul Menzel:

I checked your submitted email header http://bugs.debian.org/507431 and
it looks like the sent email didn't had the Date: and it was added at

The date should be the date of the sender but chronological its after
  all Received: timestamps.
Additional the Date: line is after the X-Evolution-Source: line which is
written at the sender/your evolution so this is a sign for
  later/recipient Date:

Could you reproduce this with the sender and/or could you agree with my
  arguments?

Your theory sounds reasonable. I would never have thought about that.

An other point supporting your theory is that the Date timestamp is
bigger than the received by timestamps.

Yes. Thats what i meant with my second sentence.

You tagged this bug unreproducible. Did you try to import my inlined
email? I can still reproduce this bug. I forgot to note that this is
happening with an IMAP account. I therefore removed the tag
 »unreproducible« again.

You can reproduce this with the mentioned email or are you getting new
emails from time to time with the same problem?

Just a note. The sender uses the O2 mail service with the MUA O3SIS UMA
 Mail 7.1.0 Cologne Edition.

 Anyway I glanced through RFC #822 [1] and RFC #2822 [2] and `Date` is
required. So the MUAs do not comply with the standard.

I aggree with you that the sending MUA is doing it wrong.

Regarding the order of the header fields I found the following in [1].

 4. MESSAGE SPECIFICATION

  4.1. SYNTAX

Note: Due to an artifact of the notational conventions, the syn-
tax indicates that, when present, some fields, must be in
a particular order. Header fields are NOT required to
occur in any particular order, except that the message
body must occur AFTER the headers. It is recommended
that, if present, headers be sent in the order Return-
Path, Received, Date, From, Subject, Sender,
 To, cc, etc.

This specification permits multiple occurrences of most
fields. Except as noted, their interpretation is not
specified here, and their use is discouraged.

So Evolution tries to make the message standard compliant by adding a
`Date` field. But it should display it correctly when doing so.

OK.

Anyway in my case I am using Exim as MTA and reading [3] suggests that
Exim is adding `Delivery-date` header field when no `Date` header field
 is present.

So there is definitely an error in Evolution because as noted when
replying the date is taken “correctly” from the `Delivery-date` header
 field.

I searched the GNOME Bugzilla but could not find a report containing
 `Delivery-Date`.

If you could not reproduce it it is maybe a bug in the Evolution IMAP
code. Evolution 2.30 has not yet entered Sid/unstable so I could not yet
try with the latest release. I think, I read the IMAP code has changed
 quite a bit.

So the problem we both see is:

- when a sender is not rfc-compliant and don't add a Date: line
- we guess evolution adds the missing Date: line
- but doing this wrong because after the addition to the header its
still not shown in evolution

I will report this upstream to see what the developers say.

¹ To preserve threading when replying to bug reports you do not have the
original messages from you can get them using `bts show --mbox 507431`
and import that mbox file (in `~/.dev-scripts/bts/`) to your MUA (for
 example Evolution).

I have hear about this ;) but because im working on all the old bugs I
used URLs so the reporter will find everything and not just my quoting.

Hello Erich,

My summary of the bug http://bugs.debian.org/366338 is that when
evolution enables the offline mode no email is recived/send and the
button is greyed.
But IMHO this is correct and OK.
The user can disable/enable offline mode in file - work offline

Evolution gets the information from network manager.

I'm using both since some time and it works fine.

What should be done in your opinion regarding this bug?

thx.

I am now unable to reproduce this problem with either `lftp -d' or

My guess is that something changed in the asstr.org archive layout

Bug#566821: problem when using localised munin unlink failed: Datei oder Verzeichnis nicht gefunden at /usr/share/perl5/Munin/Master/Update.pm line 162

2010-01-25 Thread Noèl Köthe
Package: munin

Severity: important

Hello,

updated squeeze munin to 1.4 and got every 5 minute the following error:

/usr/share/perl5/Munin/Master/Update.pm line 162

Datei oder Verzeichnis nicht gefunden is File or directory not found

The system is running with LANG=de_DE.UTF-8

If changed to C then there is no problem.

As a workaround I changed the cron script:

--- /etc/cron.d/munin.bak 2010-01-25 10:08:09.0 +0100

I think its important because on a non C or en_US system it breaks the
munin installation.

Bug#548881: openoffice.org: iz96918-acl-read-only.diff Patch to fix ACL information not being read

2009-09-29 Thread Noèl Köthe
Package: openoffice.org
Version: 1:3.1.1-2

Hello,

3.1.1 does not fix an ACL problem. Chris wrote a small patch which can be
found here:
http://qa.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=96918
http://www.openoffice.org/nonav/issues/showattachment.cgi/61384/iz96918-acl-read-only.diff

We are using it since some time in OOo lenny backports.

AFAIK upstream will include it in 3.2 but maybe it would be possible
to get in in the next 3.1.x upload.

Thank you.

When I do the same with gnome the window state is recovered (maximized).

 Can you reproduce this behaviour?

Sorry, I forgot to mention that this happens when opening a file. If you

Bug#541012: please add bug URL in emails (e.g. http://bugs.debian.org/123456)

2009-08-11 Thread Noèl Köthe
Package: bugs.debian.org
Severity: wishlist

Hello,

searching for solution of problems search engines often returns mailinglist
archives before our http://bugs.debian.org/ BTS when there is a reported
bug.

For expample:

http://www.google.com/search?q=debirf+random

returns three mailinglist archives on the first page but not our BTS directly.
People don't know that the best way would be to append the bug number
directly after http://bugs.debian.org/ to find all information and maybe
solutions.

IMHO it would be very helpful if the BTS URL e.g. http://bugs.debian.org/123456
of a mail would be added to the report (at the end?) like the bug number is
added to the subject.

I hope the idea is clear and not confusing.;)

Regards

The Network Dump data Displayer and Editor is a framework for inspection,

for a toolset that allows easy inspection, modification, and creation of

The package were available in Debian so maybe the old package helps you
when packaging and it would be great if you would include the history of

(The severity of this bug is wishlist purely because AVR32 is not yet an
official architecture, but otherwise this would of course be serious).

I forwarded this to the upstream bug system so coming versions will have
it fixed.

Yes, tkmib looks to be similar and is part of the net-snmp package. Do
you think we should remove mbrowse from the archive?

IMHO, yes because its dead upstream.

I had the same problem with a Lenovo X300.

Thanks alot for this hint. Yes, it fixes the problem.

After booting 2.6.30:

$ cat /proc/acpi/ibm/wan
status: disabled
commands: enable, disable

So the fix for this bug is to get the same behaviour like before to have
it enabled after booting. The machine has a kill switch to disable it.:)

Thank you.

Bug#532464: impress: presentation with dualhead on KDE with installed ooo-gtk results in hanging process

2009-06-09 Thread Noèl Köthe
Package: openoffice.org-impress
Version: 1:3.1.0-4
Severity: normal

Hello,

when you are runing KDE as desktop, using two monitors in a dualhead setup,
have openoffice.org-gtk installed and want to start a presentation then
OOo impress creates two sidebars (bottom and left) but not a working window
or the presentation. If you have the edit windows of impress on the other
monitor then you still can edit or close impress without problems.

Starting impress and reproducing the problem from the console show the
following:

** (soffice:3893): WARNING **: Inhibit method failed

** (soffice:3893): WARNING **: Inhibit problem : The name org.gnome.ScreenSaver
was not provided by any .service files

I can reproduce this on lenny (kde 3.5.x, OOo 3.1) and sid (kde 4.2.4, OOo
3.1.0-4).

A pointer I found in the internet is (sorry german only but I know will you
understand it;)):
http://forum.archlinux.de/?page=Postings;id=20;thread=11175

Starting impress from the console as mentioned there the problem (and the
warnings)
does not occur:

OOO_FORCE_DESKTOP=kde ooimpress

removing the package openoffice.org-gtk helps to fix the problem, too, but if
you
want to offer kde and gnome for users then -gtk is wanted.

When using gnome as desktop enviroment impress works as expected in the
described
scenario.

I hope the problem is clear and reproducible as described.

Regards.

Package: xdg-utils

Hello,

sadly xdg-email --attach does not work with thunderbird.

Current versions (1.5) of Thunderbird are not able to automatically
add attachments to e-mail messages.
http://portland.freedesktop.org/wiki/EmailConfig

There is a patch available in upstream bugzilla but looks like upstream
is dead: http://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=13435

Could you add this patch to the Debian package so attaching files from
applications to thunderbird will work?

Thank you.

I have installed this version and indeed it did not dump core when tested.
 Please consider packaging it.

Thanks for this information.

Packaging right now and will be uploaded to sid/unstable today.

Bug#525391: cyrus-imapd-2.3: please upload 2.3.x to unstable/sid

Hello Duncan,

Thank you for your bug report. I have merged it with

so we don't have too many multiple Oi! There's a new version! bugs
 outstanding.

my request isn't to primary to get a new version. Its to get _a_ 2.3
version into sid (and not like now experimental). IMHO its a different
request than #454498 which is a new upstream version request.
If the plan is to upload the latest 2.3.14 to sid both requests can be
closed but if 2.3.14 will be uploaded to experimental then #454498 can
be closed but #525391/this one not.
