Bug#800835: The firrmare is in firmware-misc-nonfree

2016-10-03 Thread René Pavlík
Hi all,

> The specific firmware is part of the firmware-misc-nonfree package

This is odd for jessie-backports. In which, firmware-misc-nonfree is currently
of version 20160824-1~bpo8+1 and doesn't contain the specific firmware nor the
other one being reported missing: /lib/firmware/i915/kbl_dmc_ver1.bin

Bug#594572: nt domain users (from a perfectly working winbind) don't appear in the logon screen user list

2011-08-05 Thread René Pavlík
Package: gdm3
Version: 2.30.5-6squeeze3
Severity: normal

Hi,

I'm facing the same behavior with LDAP users. Only local users are being
shown in the list, no remotes. I can still login with Other, but the
recently logged users do NOT appear in the list neither.

When I perform Switch user, the logged-in user appears in the list,
with an icon (~/.face) and full name and Currently logged in tag as expected.

Cheers,

Bug#579396: openoffice.org: Spreadsheet Collaboration doesn't work

2010-04-27 Thread René Pavlík
Package: openoffice.org
Version: 1:3.2.0-8+b1
Severity: important

Hi,

when trying to establish shared spreadsheet for collaboration of
multiple users on one document, I cannot get it running.

Following exactly the OOorg's help or any wiki, tutorial did not help:

- sharing the document works
- any try to open it by other user doesn't work

Cite from the help:
Opening a spreadsheet
The user sees a message that the document is in shared mode and that
some features are not available in this mode. The user can disable this
message for the future. After clicking OK, the document is opened in
shared mode.
--- end of cite

The mentioned message is displayed only when the same user (author) is
re-opening the document. In all other cases no message is displayed and the
Title bar says: Read-only and thus the collaboration doesn't work.

One more thing: the file has read and write permissions to all.

Bug#569164: linux-image-2.6.32-trunk-powerpc: no keyboard input during initramfs - no cryptfs password - not booting

2010-02-16 Thread René Pavlík
Hi,

I faced the similar on amd64. I have Microsoft ergonomic keyboard on USB and
the appropriate driver
hid-microsoft.ko was not part of the generated initrd image. Actually only the
generic hid driver
was present there. Lots of other drivers were missing as well. The solution for
me was to upgrade
the version of initramfs-tools package to 0.93.4

Cheers,
Rene

Bug#475372: evince: Evince starts without focus on its main window.

2008-04-11 Thread René Pavlík
Hi,

Sven Arvidsson wrote:
I can't reproduce this, you need to provide more details. How are you
launching Evince (keybinding? from panel? terminal? etc?) do you have
more than one instance of Evince running?

It was very strange. I was sure it happens everytime I launch evince, no matter
how. Now I tried to reproduce the problem and I played a while with the
launching.

The problem occurs (only, AFAIS) when the other instance of evince is running on
a different desktop/workspace in a minimized window! All other combinations did
not make the problem to occur. So yes, it is related to the issue you mentioned.
When reproducing it, please focus on the combination I described.

It would also be helpful if you could provide the version and
 configuration of Metacity.

metacity version is 1:2.22.0-1 (deb)
It doesn't provide this kind of configuration options. If any other application
did not modify the gconf registry of evince, then config should be ok.

Cheers,
Rene

 Thanks, fixed in repo.

Hello,

I see the change but still feel a strange behavior in this.
- I typed 1 in the .minirc.dfl.
- I can see 1 in the minicom's menu
- I press k to focus the line of menu and I'm able to move the cursor over all
5 digits
- but when I delete one of them, I'm not able to add it back and can type max 4
digits only
- when I decide that the 1 value suited more and press the Esc to abort
the changes, a magic 5000 number appears there

Bug#454371: Acknowledgement (openvpn: initscript doesn't stop asking the pass phrase)

2008-01-20 Thread René Pavlík
Additional info about the bug:

I looked to the initscript and I have found that there is /dev/null passed
to the openvpn binary. In the case of automatic start at system's boot, this
argument leads to skipping the pass phrase question. When removed, everything
works as expected (consider there is no side effect). Why is it present there?

Bug#451916: [Pkg-cryptsetup-devel] Bug#451916: Bug#451916: cryptsetup: loopback device not detached after /etc/init.d/cryptdisks stop

Hi,

I modified this a little bit. What do you think? I know, you have found a better
solution already but with this you will get the exact device filename directly
and is more secure:

loopdev=$(cryptsetup status $dst  | grep device: | sed -e 's/.*device: *//g'
| grep ^/dev/loop || true)

Just an idea, use what you want. :-)

Bug#451916: [Pkg-cryptsetup-devel] Bug#451916: cryptsetup: loopback device not detached after /etc/init.d/cryptdisks stop

2007-11-19 Thread René Pavlík

There is a not correctly working routine in the mentioned script to handle
detaching of loopback devices. After stopping, the device /dev/loopX is still
being assigned to the file. Next start of the init script allocates another
 loopback device.

Do you mean the case where cryptsetup device setup fails? In this case
indeed the loopback device is left alone without being removed. I fixed
 that in svn now.

Or do you mean the regular use case when you successfully setup a file
 as cryptsetup device?

Hi Jonas,

I mean the second case. I set up /etc/crypttab successfully to use a
regular file for crypto-storage. Turning it on by hand works OK and
even turning it on by /etc/init.d/cryptdisks start created the
crypto device through a loopback correctly.
The problem was when I made a little tunning change in the
configuration and needed to re-create the device again. So I used
/etc/init.d/cryptdisks stop to shut down crypto device. It correctly
detach crypto device from the loopback but NOT detach the loopback
from the regular file.
So I think if the loopback device is allocated by this script it
should be also freed by this script. There is a do_stop() func in the
script (mean in the sourced library). This func tries to do detaching
at the very end:

# Detach loopback device, if attached
if [ -f $src ] [ -n $loopmajor ] [
$loopmajor = $major ]; then
losetup -d /dev/loop$minor /dev/null 21
|| true
fi

but this doesn't work - because of the false condition, especially [
$loopmajor = $major ].

Regards,

Rene
