Hi Martin,

would you like to take over the maintainership of this package? I'm not
using it anymore, and I cannot support it the way I should.

Regards.

Bug#517057: manpages-es: Errors on cp Spanish manual page

2009-03-11 Thread Ruben Porras
Hello Arnau,

unfortunately all the manpages of this package are out of date, because
the translations are based on very old manpages. Would you be happy if I
remove the manpage of cp from the package? Would you accept this
solution?

cu.

Hello Geoffrey,

I've tried to reproduce the bug under libpam-encfs-1.4.1, and I can log
into the system through ssh without problems.

Can you still reproduce the bug?

Bug#460049: Empty is not supposed to work

2008-01-11 Thread Ruben Porras
Hello,

Did you mean by empty that you left a blank?

If you do not want to specify any options, you should write an hyphen on
that field, eg:

- /home/.enc - -v -

Bug#427125: Normal behaviour/fixed

2008-01-11 Thread Ruben Porras
If I use the default option of encfs_default --idle=1
in /etc/security/pam_encfs.conf my home dir gets unmounted
after a while even though I have active X (gdm) session and ssh
 sessions.

This is not a problem in libpam-encfs, but it's encfs normal behaviour.
Simply having files open does not count as activity, you need to do IO
with them.

If I remove encfs_default --idle=1 all is fine, except every login
via ssh/gdm the home dir is remounted, showing
multiple mounts of the same mountpoint over time in /proc/mounts.

I think the problem is fixed in libpam-encfs 1.4.1, can you still
reproduce the problem?

Bug#448652: lintian: 'binaries' check incorrectly diagnoses programm/library as linked

2007-10-30 Thread Ruben Porras
Package: lintian
Version: 1.23.36
Severity: normal
Tags: patch

the test under checks/binaries incorrectly diagnoses libraries or
programs
as linked against libc when they are linked against any library wich
begins
with the letter 'c'.

Attached are two objdump-info files, and a patch to fix this behaviour,
both of them are not linked against libc,
however lintian sees the one named obj-info-newbuild as linked against
libc, because it is linked againts libcrypt.

Bug#440358: New upload encoded as iso8859-1

Hello Colin,

I send last week a new version of the package with the manpages
encoded in latin1.

However the maintainer that normally uploads the package is probably
busy because he didn't respond yet and I'm waiting in the meantime for
him to upload the package.

To get the same behavior with this config, you may just do something like
 xrandr --output VGA --right-of LVDS
after starting X to place one monitor on the right of the other one.

I know that maybe this info is anywere else, but I cannot find it. I
followed your instructions, but then I do not get the same results as
before. If I add the Virtual option, I get the same effect as before
with Xinerama. If I remove the Virtual both monitors have the same copy
of the image.

Neither of the is what I have before. Before I have two independent
monitors. It was not possible to move windows across them, etc. it was
not like Xinerama.

So, I would not say that I can upgrade reteining the old behaviour :(

Thanks.

 That's right.

Why do you need 2 independent screens?

a) i use ion3, which does not support Xinerama

b) I don't like the mouse jumping from one window to another one ;)

You want to move in virtual
desktops on one screen without moving on the other one?

One screen without moving to the other one. Can I get this behaviour
back?

Bug#261654: how is the status of this bug

2006-06-06 Thread Ruben Porras
Hello Christian,

how is the status of this bug, everyone is thinking in the next release,
so do I. It's time to update the apt translations, is the manpages build
process still the same?

apt doesn't build depend on po4a, so I think it is the case, am I right?

thanks

The problem is that the Spanish manpage package is very outdated with
respect to the English one. It's not a problem only with this manpage.
Probably I could fix it updating the manpage, but then I would need to
fix the other manpages as well. So, as I see it, this problem should be
addressed by upstream.

Yes, you're right. It is autogenerated, using strings from the po file
if available, otherwise English strings, so that the translation remains
always 100 % up-to-date, but sometimes contains English strings.

well, I think that when you have less translated strings as a limit, all
the autogenerated document is english. am I right?

Bug#352048: bash: sudo completion always fails the first time

2006-02-09 Thread Ruben Porras
Package: bash
Version: 3.1-2
Severity: normal

Sudo completion always fails the first time, for example:

$ sudo ./qemu.sh
Password:
sudo: unable to execute ./qemu.sh: No such file or directory
(Up arrow pressed)
$ sudo ./qemu.sh
bridge name bridge id STP enabled interfaces
br0 8000.000fb0848056 no eth0

for example, sudo dpkg -i blabla-xyz.deb fails in the same way. I think
that the completion puts a special character after the file name,
because if I hit the backspace in the first attemp, it works as it
should be.

When are you using completion? As in sudtab or sudo ./qumutab?

It doesn't matter.

Could you edit the command with vim (C-xC-e) and !!xxd to get a
hexdump and figure out what character it is?

for example

Bug#351557: German translation update and minor i18n improvements

 Hi Daniel,

I attached an update of the German translation and additional minor i18n
 improvements against your darcs repository.

Well, you also change things like the copyright holder in
po/Makevars.template

Please note that the strings in the current help screen (aptitude
--help) use full stops very inconsistently. Please fix this.

I marked in my patch comments starting with Translators: so that these are
copied into the PO file. I suggest you use this feature to explain a few
strings such as I did for the new Suggest %F.
Introducing Suggest %F instead of _(Suggest)+%F is necessary since the
German translation of this is Schlage %F vor (%F doesn't occur at the end).
(There was also , used as separator in %F, whereas , is a better choice.)

Ok, we already have comments starting with ForTranslators, but them
don't appear in the .pot file (I suppose this is because i never add
this to the Makefile). i'll convert your strings to match this.

The msgid bugs address should be [EMAIL PROTECTED] not
[EMAIL PROTECTED] since the second requires proper tags in the mail.

Please also allow a proper translation of Y/n strings. At the current state
the user needs to enter the English shortcuts.

And another problem. I cannot open the manual (which isn't translated to
German yet) from the help menu. It works in a English locale but in the
German one I get only an empty window. I also noticed that the (English)
README is encoded in latin1 not UTF-8 but it also doesn't work which this
 change.

That's not true for everyone, my locale is:
LANG=de_DE.UTF-8
LC_CTYPE=de_DE.UTF-8
LC_NUMERIC=de_DE.UTF-8
LC_TIME=de_DE.UTF-8
LC_COLLATE=de_DE.UTF-8
LC_MONETARY=de_DE.UTF-8
LC_MESSAGES=de_DE.UTF-8
LC_PAPER=de_DE.UTF-8
LC_NAME=de_DE.UTF-8
LC_ADDRESS=de_DE.UTF-8
LC_TELEPHONE=de_DE.UTF-8
LC_MEASUREMENT=de_DE.UTF-8
LC_IDENTIFICATION=de_DE.UTF-8
LC_ALL=

and I can see it perfectly. How is your locale?

Yes, please, I would appreciate it. Two minor issues I found:

 - inconsistent use of the quote chars in the translation

 - bad translation of cache (the spanish 'caché' term is not the same).

 Hi Ruben,

Here is the old one :-)

Sorry, Daniel, but I don't see your point. To me the old one is the
good one, and I don't now at all what you mean with at all, the old
one applies to darcs repository perfectly, while the other, which I
suppose to be the new doesn't. So, for me, the old is the most up to

Bug#349367: libpam-encfs: wrong behavior if a user don't have an encrypted home, directory + some remarks (patch included)

2006-01-26 Thread Ruben Porras
Anyway, here's the steps to reproduce :
[...]
So here is a possible security hole : if you want that somebody without
an encrypted home dir, shouldn't login, then he can ... aïe.

No, that was not the intended behaviour, everybody should be able to
login.

I wrote the patch attached to partialy correct this behavior : at least
evrybody with or without an encrypted home dir will be able to log in.

I think this is fixed in the new version uploaded yesterday to unstable.
Can you check that?

I take the time to correct some warnings (not all, but most of them)
  too.

Ok, back to the default conf file : why the maintainer let it's user
name in the file ??? (and not commented).

why not? Anyway, the example has now a generic user and commented.

I suggest too, to put somewhere that the password for the encfs
NEED to be the SAME as the unix login ... that's a serious weakness in
my mind ... if somebody was able to crack the login password, it could
read the encrypted data's ... So in the same time, I suggest to put a
warning, to explain that you need to put the .encfs5 on another device
like an USBkey + automount it for reading this file (a link from
 /home/.enc/encrypt/.encfs5 to /var/autofs/removable/uba/encfs5, could be
a start for a better security) NOTE : this can't work with actual code.

This is not addressed in the last upload, neither the other fixes unless
upstream has fixed them (which did with a couple of them). So, if you
agree with me that the main issue is solved, we can downgrade this bug.

.B update-rc.d
.I nivel_de_ejecución
es uno de los soportados por
.BR init , 0123456789S ,
y
.I NN

entonces
.B update-rc.d
no hace nada.

.I NN.

varios conjuntos
.B start
y
.B stop .

El script
.BI /etc/init.d/nombre
debe existir antes de ejecutar
.B update-rc.d
para crear los enlaces.
.SH BORRADO DE LOS SCRIPTS
Cuando se ejecuta con la opción
.I remove

Bug#329242: fuse-source: laptop doesn't power down after use of FUSE

2005-09-20 Thread Ruben Porras
Package: fuse-source
Version: 2.3.0-4
Severity: normal

After using FUSE I cannot shutdown my laptop properly. I use FUSE with
encfs, I can modprobe fuse and halt afterwards correcly, as far as I
don't use encfs, but I don't think encfs can be the culprit, because
it's a user space tool.

Umounting my encfs $HOME before halting the laptop doesn't help.
Unloading manually FUSE doesn't help also.

I don't see nothing strange in the logs or in the console.

Thanks.

Bug#328643: udev: eth0 device with ipw2200 driver not created

2005-09-16 Thread Ruben Porras
Package: udev
Version: 0.070-1
Severity: normal

After upgrading from udev-0.068-2 to udev-0.070-1 the Wireless LAN
device node (eth0) is not created anymore by udev, also eth2 is not
present anymore. Downgrading again to udev-0.068-2 fixes the problem.

I've attached the output of udevinfo -a -p /sys/class/net/eth[0-2]/ with
udev-068 and udev-070, note that with udev-070 there is no eth1 and
eth2.

Thanks.

The bug is real, so I think you shouldn't close it, at least leave it as
wishlist and close it when the linux kernel gets support for my device.

Also, would you be so kind of pointing me to somewhere when I can read
what the problem is and its status?

Thanks.

First I'd like to come out and say, as having the BTS as a store
for a list of unimplemented features greatly diminishes the
useful ness of the BTS as a tool to track what the debian
kernel team is working on with regards to the kernel.

you could use the new user defined tags to mark the bugs you are working
on, but I suppose you know it already.

But thats just my opinion, and the BTS is already has
so many bugs its of little use, so one more isn't going
 to make any difference.

While I agree with you tat there is no point in filling a bug asking the
maintainer of your favourite MUA to implement a way to make your mail
address and name blink in the emails while you read them I think this
bug is not of little use, only it's really hard to fix, you are right
that this need to be done upstream.

rantFor example, due to this bug I can't install debian using CD-ROM
without taking especial measures, if we add that the NIC and the WLAN
didn't work also out of the box.../rant

I sent Jeff a mail about this recently, in which he explained
that SATA ATAPI was not ready, and it would be enabled when it
is. However he did not provide any additional details. I'd suggest
the archives of the linux-ide list as a starting point.

Yes, you are right, it seems thah SATA ATAPI isn't ready, but with my
hardware its enough to change in include/linux/libata.h

#undef ATA_ENABLE_ATAPI /* define to enable ATAPI support */
to
#define ATA_ENABLE_ATAPI /* define to enable ATAPI support */

and recompile the Debian kernel. I can read/burn CDs and DVDs. So, its
enough for me at the moment. I'll try to close the bug when a kernel
that has ATA_ENABLE_ATAPI activated enters Debian if no one else do it.

Thanks.

Bug#327860: ITP: libpam-encfs -- PAM module to automatically mount encfs filesystems on login

Description : PAM module to automatically mount encfs filesystems on login

This PAM module integrates encfs [0] and PAM, so home directories are
automatically mounted on login. EncFS provides an encrypted filesystem in
user-space, this PAM module easily allow each user to have an encrypted home,
and mount it using its login password as encfs password automatically.

This sounds very cool. What about integrating it with cryptsetup

As I understand they have no relation, cryptsetup is a tool destined to
aid the creation of dm-crypt devices. EncFS is different to dm-crypt, it
uses FUSE instead of the linux device-mapper, but maybe I'm wrong.

  and
debian-installer, to have an option during installation to enable
 encrypted partitions and home directories?

yes, i would like to see encfs in d-i, because it lets create different
virtual filesystem for each user under the same partition. However, it
has also some drawbacks.

I ran xcdroast under user who had run X session.
If I run xterm and I login as normal user then window pop up with info.
that it should be open by superuser to configure.
After that if I login as the root then application show message about
 Gtk-WARNNING **: cannot open display.

In that case it isn't an xcdroast problem, I suggest you use sudo
instead of su, your system is working as expected.

 No .mo file in /usr/share/locale/*/LC_MESSAGES/.

Daniel, the only architecture without translations is i386. I suppose
this is because you built the package in an i386 machine. So maybe just
rebuild it in a clean environment and upload again? By the way, it
builds fine for me.

Bug#261654: spanish manpages updated to apt 0.6.38 in xml format (full patch included)

So, I didn't apply this patch completely, but rather only the debian/

I have half of the solution. I use now the makefiles provided to build apt. The
new makefile is simpler (it is attached).

I have modified xml_manpage.mak properly to change the extension of the
generated
manpages.

We should move the english manpages to their own dir
and add them the suffix en for simplicity and symmetry.

With this we will be able to build english, spanish and french manpages
with almost the same makefile.

If you like it I can send the patches.

And now the other part of the solution. I'm not sure yet on how to delete the
generated manpages using xml_manpage.mak and manpage.mak without duplicating
code
in the first one, but stay tuned ;)

 Quoting Ruben Porras ([EMAIL PROTECTED]):
  Package: apt

  Followup-For: Bug #261654

It's been a long time since I submitted the first manpages in xml format.
However this time I provide a patch that removes the old documentation
and adds properly the new ones.

apt_doc_es.diff.gz contains the changes under the doc/es dir
apt_debian.diff contains the changes under debian dir

In addition I have updated the translation.

Well, the main problem I have is that, even though the source package
embarks the man pages, the real source are the sgml files...

I don't follow you here unless you wanted to write xml.

Actually, I think that the generated man pages files should probably
be removed from the source tree.

I also thought that, if you see the Makefile in doc/es/ you'll see that
I move the generated manpages instead of copying them (as in doc/fr).

So, I didn't apply this patch completely, but rather only the debian/
part. Ruben, could you please try to look closer at this.

OK. But don't expect a fix tomorrow ;) I need to read some documentation
before.

Another problem is that xmlto doesn't translate the section's titles
into spanish (neither french) although we use the proper lang=es in
the sources.

.TH MAKE\-KPKG 1 14 noviembre de 2002 Debian manual Debian GNU/Linux
.SH NOMBRE
.SH SINOPSIS
.B make\-kpkg
.I [opciones]
\[objetivo [objetivo ...]]
.SH DESCRIPCIÓN
Esta página del manual explica la utilidad
.B make\-kpkg
.B fakeroot,
sino hay que indicar a
.B make\-kpkg
como convertirse en superusuario, por ejemplo:
.sp 1
.ti +5
make\-kpkg \-\-rootcmd fakeroot kernel_image
.sp 1
.I '\-fno\-strict\-aliasing' ).
anteriores, o alguna otra cosa).
.PP
  % MAKEFLAGS=CC=gcc\-2.95 make\-kpkg ...
.PP
.I stamp\-configure
, esta opción no tiene efecto \-\- ejecute
.B make\-kpkg clean
o elimine manualmente los ficheros
.I stamp\-configure
y
.I stamp\-debian
para que tenga efecto \-\- Recomiendo encarecidamente
.B make\-kpkg clean
.B make\-kpkg.
.I debian/official
y no está vacío), asegúrese de eliminar
.I debian/official
antes de ejecutar
.B make\-kpkg clean
para que esta opción tenga efecto.
Por eso, si desea volver a ejecutar
.B make\-kpkg
con un número de versión

.BI [\-\-]

.SH DESCRIPCIÓN
.B fakeroot

.B /usr/lib/libfakeroot.so*
que se carga mediante el mecanismo
.B LD_PRELOAD
del cargador dinámico. (Consulte
.BR ld.so (8))

Si pretende construir paquetes usando
.BR fakeroot ,

Consulte
.I /usr/share/doc/fakeroot/README.saving
para más detalles.
.TP
.BR fakeroot.
.TP
\fB\-u\fR, \fB\-\-unknown\-is\-real\fR

.TH UPDATE-MODULES 8 Herramientas Debian GNU/Linux DEBIAN
.SH NOMBRE
update\-modules \- (re)genera /etc/modules.conf y /etc/chandev.conf
.SH SINOPSIS
.B update\-modules
[force]
.SH DESCRIPCIÓN
.B update\-modules
es una herramienta simple para manejar
.IR /etc/modules.conf
y
.IR /etc/modules.conf.old
o
.IR /etc/chandev.conf.old .
.PP
.RS
.B *\e(\e.dpkg\-[a\-z]*\e|\.orig|,v|~\e)$
.RE
(p. ej. ficheros con la extensión
.IR .dpkg\-new ,
.IR .dpkg\-orig ,
.IR .dpkg\-dist ,
.IR .dpkg\-old ,
o aquellos cuyo nombre termine con
.IR ~ ).
.SH OPCIONES
.TP
.I force
.B update\-modules
comprueba si los ficheros
.I /etc/modules.conf y
.I /etc/chandev.conf
igual a 3). Si se proporciona
.I force
como parámetro, sólo se muestra un aviso.

.TH MAKE\-KPKG 1 14 noviembre de 2002 Debian manual Debian GNU/Linux
.SH NOMBRE
.SH SINOPSIS

.SH DESCRIPCIÓN
Esta página del manual explica la utilidad
.B make\-kpkg
.B fakeroot,
sino hay que indicar a
.B make\-kpkg
como convertirse en superusuario, por ejemplo:
.sp 1
.ti +5
make\-kpkg \-\-rootcmd fakeroot kernel_image
.sp 1
.I '\-fno\-strict\-aliasing' ).
anteriores, o alguna otra cosa).
.PP
  % MAKEFLAGS=CC=gcc\-2.95 make\-kpkg ...
.PP

.I stamp\-configure
, esta opción no tiene efecto \-\- ejecute
.B make\-kpkg clean
o elimine manualmente los ficheros
.I stamp\-configure
y
.I stamp\-debian
para que tenga efecto \-\- Recomiendo encarecidamente
.B make\-kpkg clean
.B make\-kpkg.
.I debian/official
y no está vacío), asegúrese de eliminar
.I debian/official
antes de ejecutar
.B make\-kpkg clean
para que esta opción tenga efecto.
Por eso, si desea volver a ejecutar
.B make\-kpkg

#*# *~ DEADJOE *.orig *.rej *.SUMS TAGS core .deps/* *.P

=head1 OPCIONES

=over 4

=item B-k, B--keep

No elimina debian/files.

=item B-d, B--dirs-only

=item B-XIelemento B--exclude=Ielemento

=item Ifichero ...

Borra también estos ficheros.
