Bug#884012:

2017-12-11 Thread Vincent Alquier
Having the same issue, this causes a lot of IO due to writing logs and
gnome-shell constantly being near 100% cpu.

Is there any way to disable org.gnome.Shell.CalendarServer service, or to
prevent it from restarting ?

Thanks,

Bug#765109: fglrx-driver: Black screen after xorg startup

2015-01-01 Thread Vincent Alquier
Hello all, and also, Happy New Year !

I believe I have the same issue and I also have hybrid graphics. On boot,
when using fglrx display drivers, gdm shows a black screen (when I should
have the login screen). I have no error in /var/log/Xorg.0.log (except a
segmentation fault when I stop gdm).

As I can run graphical hardware accelerated applications using a dedicated
Xorg instance, I think the problem is gdm related. In fact I think your bug
(and mine) is a duplicate of #745901
https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=745901.

Mathieu, can you run the following tests ?

Using fglrx driver, gdm not running, run this command from a random tty as
a normal user (= not root) :

/usr/bin/xinit /usr/bin/chromium

Instead of chromium, you can try other graphical application. I was
succesfull with chromium, steam (and even running games) and kodi (=xbmc).
This test should work correctly.

Then try running the same test with a gnome application which depends on
clutter (like totem).

/usr/bin/xinit /usr/bin/totem

If it gives you the following error, then your bug, is a duplicate of
#745901 https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=745901.

(gnome-shell:3461): GLib-CRITICAL **: g_strsplit: assertion 'string !=
NULL' failed

Remember to use the --referer=www.amd.com trick (thanks Gabriel Lerendegui

Very few official changes introduced in this version, but it seems more
stable on my system (hem, I also updated to mesa 10.0.2 from experimental).

Bug#728984: base: HDMI audio not working

2014-02-11 Thread Vincent Alquier
Hello,

Hello, I can't get HDMI sound to work for my ATI card, I believe that this
 is
 either a bug with alsa's drivers or with the kernel, as you can see I have
 set
 the
 radeon.audio=1 which should have enabled sound, I am using the proprietary
 driver.

I think the radeon.audio kernel option is for open source driver only.

Have you tried with more recent fglrx version ? Catalyst 13.9 is supposed
to add some improvements for hdmi audio.

Are you using a non-AMD DVI-to-HDMI adapter ? I think I read something on
phoronix about HDMI audio troubles when not using the provided DVI-to-HDMI
adapter.

 Darn AMD. Not only that they use javascript to create an unusable
 download page (watch file no longer works). Now I can no longer download
 the zip file with wget, as it returns only 49 KB of javascript.

Arg !
At least, they now have real changelogs... :-/

Another workaround is :

remove/purge followings:

 * libgjs0c

install (from testing):

 * libgjs0b 1.32.0-5+b1

downgrade followings (to testing versions):

 * gnome-shell 3.4.2-11+b1
 * gnome-sushi 0.4.1-5
 * gjs 1.32.0-5+b1
