Bug#1040685: systemd-cron: the MAILTO variable in /etc/crontab is not applied to generated cron units environments
Package: systemd-cron Version: 1.15.21-1 Severity: normal Dear Maintainer, The /etc/crontab files allow to define enviroment variables (MAILTO among others) as per the man page. This definition should be applied to all the cron defintions as a fallback. The generator form this package parses /etc/crontab to identify jobs for generating the associated sytemd units. When parsing files in cron.d, the MAILTO is inserted as Environment if explicitly defined. But if it not defined, the generator does not include the fallback value from the /etc/crontab file. The generator should parse /etc/crontab, retrieve MAILTO and maybe PATH or other env variables, and pass this fallback to the parsing of each file in cron.d or user crontabs. I looked further and found this: https://github.com/acassen/keepalived/issues/1071 However I don't think it's the same bug , since it doesn't restart endlessly when it happens. So it's probable a separate bug than the initial one reported. All in all I think the provided version doesn't seem very stable :)

Bug#886022: Clarification: RFP: errol -- Automatic XMPP file sender and directory watcher
As the author of Errol, I would like to add a little clarification. Actually, Errol do not depend on sat_pubsub. In order to use the pubsub capabilities, you need a pubsub service installed on the server but Errol does not have to be installed on the same machine. Actually, the pubsub service can also be a server supporting microblogging (used by movim.eu for example). The config file allows you to select where the data may be published. In the future, the pubsub feature will be optional. I hope this message provides some enlightenment about Errol and its operational aspects. Best regards, Arnaud Joset

Bug#859157: multipath-tools: after bootup multipathd timeout on commands - requires daemon restart
Dear mantainer, I'm hitting this bug also. Simptoms are exactly the same described by Alban, altough the setup is quite different. The problem arise in a proxmox environment where a PV is configured on a shared iscsi LUN. The iscsi LUN is quite lazy to come online at boot, because the ethernet interface needs about 30 sec to become active. This is due to the spanning tree loop check performed by the cisco switch on the other side. After the boot, multipath -ll return no paths and multipathd goes stuck, as Alban said. I can confirm that recompiling multipath-tools package with Alban's patch solve the problem. So far, no regression for me. I think would be great to include the patch in a stretch update of the package, the bug could be not so hard to hit in many situations, IMHO. Many thanks to Alban for his analisys and for providing the patch. Thank you, -- Ciao, S.

Bug#784070: mdadm Software RAID1 with GPT on Debian 8.0.0 amd64 - Does not mount/boot on disk removal
You can easily reproduce it in VirtualBox: 0) Create 3 virtual HDDs and attach them to system OS. 1) Partition each RAID1 member using GPT: 1. Bios GRUB - 1 MB 2. RAID partition 3. RAID partition 2) Use: sd[a-c]3 as RAID1 EXT4(md0); sd[a-c]2 as RAID1 swap (md1) . 3) Install base system on md0. 4) Install GRUB on all three RAID1 members. 5) Boot up and wait for full resync. 6) Shutdown virtual machine and remove/detach any one or two virtual HDDs. 7) Boot the machine and see THE PROBLEM. Description: What happens is the array becomes inactive on any disk removal(degraded?), marked as RAID0(for some reason) and all attached disks are marked as [S] (for spare) upon reboot. However, it is possible to boot from it by starting it in the (initramfs) shell (which it drops to because it cannot mount root device) by using: (initramfs): mdadm --run /dev/md0 (initramfs): mdadm --run /dev/md1 (initramfs): exit after which, it boots up fine and shows the arrays as degraded(and will continue to boot fine even if rebooted UNTIL one or more disks get removed, in which case it will do exactly the same as with a fresh installed array, i.e. drop to a (initramfs) shell). The problem is how to allow the boot of degraded array without manually starting them eahc time a disk is removed/dies? Extra Information: * Google spit out a bunch of posts about UBUNTU using *BOOT_DEGRADED=true* but that doesn't work for DEBIAN. * There is alsoa post about using *md-mod.start_dirty_degraded=1* as a boot argument to the kernel image http://serverfault.com/questions/196445/boot-debian-while-raid-array-is-degraded. I have tried passing it in GRUB menu option, with no avail. * There might besomething that explains it https://www.kernel.org/doc/Documentation/md.txt, but I am a newbie to understand :( Links in the above text: [1] http://serverfault.com/questions/196445/boot-debian-while-raid-array-is-degraded [2] https://www.kernel.org/doc/Documentation/md.txt On 2015-05-03 23:32, Michael Tokarev wrote: Control: tag -1 + moreinfo unreproducible 02.05.2015 21:41, Sad Person wrote: Package: mdadm Version: 3.3.2-5 Severity: critical -- Package-specific info: --- mdadm.conf CREATE owner=root group=disk mode=0660 auto=yes HOMEHOST system MAILADDR root ...cut...

Bug#700447: ia64, xserver-xorg-video-all package doesn't insta ll some xorg video drivers
Adam D. Baratt wrote: The changelog says that's intentional: * Drop some videos drivers from the xserver-xorg-video-all meta package on ia64, they were dropped following the domain I/O support code removal in X server 1.12. That's not the whole story. The x.org project removed some domain I/O code, which was for big SGI Altix machines. Unfortunately x.org introduced a bug in the X server 1.12 with that change, which prevented some x video drivers from buiding on ia64. The bug is fixed, see Debian bug#685750; the Debian ia64 buildds built the mentioned video drivers in the meantime. I just want the former dependencies. Bug#637637: yoshimi: Yoshimi seg faults when started with -j -A option
To clarify, The 'current' packages by pkg-multimedia are for Debian unstable and migrate to Testing, their packaging work for Debian Stable 'Squeeze' (other than bug fixes) has already been done as is the accepted Debian practice. AV Linux is based on Squeeze, focuses on a JACK1 environment and is an arms length project from Debian and since there are no current sanctioned Debian pkg-multimedia backports it employs custom packaging that absolutely differs from the Quality control measures and lintian standards of pure Debian packages. As I mentioned earlier if you have an issue with the custom packaging then this is not an appropriate venue to seek assistance. If AV Linux is not to your liking that's unfortunate and hopefully using pure Debian will help you achieve the desired result in which case the pkg-multimedia maintainers can give you assistance if needed. I am merely a mailing list member here and noticed the bug report and hoped to direct the issue to the relevant forum to avoid wasting pkg-multimedia's time and better address the issue. GMaq Thanks, I tried what Alessio had mentioned below and encountered these results: Their installed yoshimi = 0.060.10avlinux-2 Their yosihimi-data package = 0.058.1-1 No Yoshimi-dbg version Their installed Jackd1 = 1:0.120.2avlinux-1 jackd2 wasn't installed, version they list in repository = 1.9.6~dfsg.1-2 The packages with avlinux in their names are all described as custom built for AVLinux. I replaced their jackd1 with their jackd2 and was able to run JACK at 16msec latency without crash, but after that simnply starting Yoshimi with or without without any options gave me a segfault. It sounds to me like I should just avoid AVLinux. If they feel the need to do so many custom packages, and at least 2 of their custom packaged versions don't work, I don't think I can trust their quality control enough to risk using their distro for production work. i...@bandshed.net wrote: Hi, If I'm not mistaken this bug and another JACK related bug here by the same reporter are 'avlinux' packages, therefore not packaged by pkg-multimedia. Bug#612023: jackd1: Jack1/2 no longer run with Realtime permissions following update
Success! sort of... My apologies I thought the original bugreport indicated Squeeze, as for the experimental JACK package...I'm sure you can guess why that would be...no JACK Session in Squeeze. Jack as root created a driver fine in dummy mode (appropriate mode for me) Wow, it's the login manager SLiM! Crossgrading to GDM fixed it, going back to SLiM breaks it. So you are correct (as usual) jack not the problem but the indicator, however something in that upgraded packages list (libc??) will break -RT permissions for those using the SLiM login manager which someone should be aware of. thanks very much for your help on this, it is very much appreciated. -GLEN On Fri, Feb 04, 2011 at 04:23:52PM -0800, i...@bandshed.net wrote: I was wondering about libc as well... Forgive my naivete but how do I downgrade from Squeeze's libc? I know how to downgrade from Sid/Testing but not Stable. Hang on a second: the Squeeze system is broken? I thought you're running experimental, at least the jackd1 version you've reported is experimental (svn4104). I checked my libc6; on amd64, everything is fine. Could still be a missing pam_limits for your login manager or whatsoever. Have you tried to ssh into localhost, just to verify the limits are also broken there? Or to login on a VT? (strg+alt+f1 from X) And to verify it's not jackd, can you run jackd -d dummy as root? This should at least confirm that RT stuff in jackd is really working and we're chasing a system problem... Hi... some further info to finish and clear this up The version of SLiM in Squeeze does support PAM but for some curious reason does not create the appropriate file in /etc/pam.d The user must create a file called 'slim' in /etc/pam.d/ and place the following line in it: session required pam_limits.so This fixes the jack -rt permissions issue with SLiM login manager. Thanks very much for your assistance. :) -GLEN meltinstall libavcore-dev install libswscale0 install libc-bininstall libavutil50 install openoffice.org-core install openoffice.org-writer install exim4-configinstall midisport-firmware install openoffice.org-filter-binfilter install libmlt++3 install openoffice.org-java-common install exim4-daemon-light install libavcore0 install libc-dev-bininstall libpostproc51 install vlc-plugin-sdl install mencoderinstall libavformat52 install libdpkg-perlinstall apt-utils install mozilla-plugin-vlc install libc6-i686 install openoffice.org-style-galaxy install libvlc5 install apt install locales install libpostproc-dev install uno-libs3 install openoffice.org-math install vlc-nox install gstreamer0.10-lame install gstreamer0.10-x264 install openoffice.org-common install python-uno install libavformat-dev install ttf-opensymbol install dpkginstall ffmpeg install vlc-plugin-jack install openoffice.org-base-coreinstall libavfilter1install dpkg-devinstall openoffice.org-emailmerge install vlc install ure install libavcodec-dev install vlc-plugin-notify install libc6-dev install libavcodec52install exim4 install debconf install vlc-datainstall exim4-base install debconf-i18ninstall libmlt-data install libavutil-dev install libc6 install libvlccore4 install binutilsinstall mplayer-nogui install libswscale-dev install live-manual-pdf install libgupnp-igd-1.0-3 install libmlt3 install libavdevice52 install

OK. Thanks so far, Yep, tester is a member of audio: root@av5devel:/home/tester# adduser tester audio The user `tester' is already a member of `audio'. root@av5devel:/home/tester# I was wondering about libc as well... I have been using this kernel for a few weeks, and it runs JACK1 fine on another Squeeze system that has not been upgraded. Who else might mess with limits? Pam? libc? systemd? I only see libc in your list of upgradeable packages. Could you try to manually upgrade/downgrade libc6-i686 (probably back and forth)? Bug#578787: oom git repo created
Great addition guys, great to see, it's very impressive app. In speaking to Alex the developer it is still Beta and there are multiple daily commits, but it's coming along very quickly. Plug in support is pretty dodgy and LV2 is not a high priority currently. Thanks for getting it into the system! Hi Jonas! I've seen you've filed an ITP for openoctave. In the meantime, they have their second release, commonly named oom2. I guess there will be oom3 one day, hence I decided to name the source package oom: http://git.debian.org/?p=pkg-multimedia/oom.git Let's start the work? ;) Cheers PS: If you think openoctave would be more appropriate, we can rename the project. -- mail: a...@thur.dehttp://adi.thur.de PGP/GPG: key via keyserver ___ pkg-multimedia-maintainers mailing list pkg-multimedia-maintain...@lists.alioth.debian.org http://lists.alioth.debian.org/mailman/listinfo/pkg-multimedia-maintainers -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. Is there any update about this issue? We are now 2 weeks further and don't have received any update. Kind regards, Sandy van der Borght On Tue, 31 Aug 2010 22:04:50 +0200, Petter Reinholdtsen p...@hungry.com wrote: [Juha Heinanen] i would like to add that pdns does NOT require that mysql is running when pdns is started. pdns able to connect to mysql when mysql later becomes available (see below for a demo). For Debian Edu, we provide pdns and slapd on the same machine, and services started during boot expect DNS to have the entires provided in the LDAP database to work. So in this scenario, pdns need to start after slapd and kerberos and others need to start after pdns for the services to work after boot. It would not help if pdns would connect to LDAP later in the boot, if the services looking for DNS names failed during boot. I suspect it is similar when using the mysql backend. But it all boils down to what init.d script ordering the maintainers of pdns and mysql want. Both ordering make sense for some scenarios. I played a bit around and found a solution: Open and edit /usr/share/logwatch/scripts/services/clam-update and insert after line 7: 7: $ThisLine =~ s/ $//; NEW: $ThisLine = substr($ThisLine, 28); This fixes the problem, because Date/Time-stamp is discarded from input record. this is a retarded workaround, but i mv'd the offending libhx509.so.3 to libhx509.so.3.OFF then ln'd the (assumingly related and/or similar) libhx509.so.1 to libhx509.so.3 and cyrus was happy to start after that!! this (probably) only works because i'm not using kerberos(?) and/or x509 things.. I apologize for my amatuerism.. but i figure too much info is better than not enough. It should depend in OR from those alternatives, not requiring the installation of all damn per-python version modules AFAIK. This is expected. The per-python version are virtual packages which have to be provided by the packages you depend upon. This doesn't mean, in your example, that python2.4 and python2.5 will be brought, only that python-wxgtk2.6 and so on have to provide the python2.5 interfaces. If you don't do that, the Provides: field is meaningless. This was discussed at large in Oaxtepec. Note that you don't need to use Python-Depends if you don't have a Provides: ${python:Provides}, but it is recommended. For instance in this case: python2.5-wxgtk2.6 | python-wxgtk2.6 python2.5-xmlbase | python-xmlbase python2.5-sqlite | python-sqlite These dependencies would be semantically wrong. Package: aptitude Version: 0.4.4-4 --- Please enter the report below this line. --- I would highly appreciate aptitude doing something like this. For me it's a different reason. I would like aptitude to have some mechanism so packages are installed as soon as they downloaded, so I could start using them as soon as possible. It would be nice to do some calculation so less dependant packages are installed before complex/ more dependant packages. This would optimise the upgrade/install time to the maximum IMHO. Moreover this would be an even more killing feature than apt package managing is. I'm not aware about the implications of this, maybe is not possible at short, but now that etch is out I think it's the right time to start thinking on big deals. --- System information. --- Architecture: i386 Kernel: Linux 2.6.18-4-686 Debian Release: 4.0 900 testing www.emdebian.org 900 testing ftp.rediris.es 500 stable www.debian-multimedia.org 100 unstableftp.rediris.es --- Package information. --- Depends (Version) | Installed =-+- libapt-pkg-libc6.3-6-3.11 | libc6(= 2.3.6-6) | 2.3.6.ds1-13 libgcc1 (= 1:4.1.1-12) | 1:4.1.1-21 libncursesw5 (= 5.4-5) | 5.5-5 libsigc++-2.0-0c2a (= 2.0.2) | 2.0.17-2 libstdc++6 (= 4.1.1-12) | 4.1.1-21 -- Raúl Sánchez Siles Barracuda Systems S.L. This makes it hard to debug other code that might be called by it. Eg, a function passed to List.iter. In the Debian folklore of libraries (at large, not OCaml-specific) that's a feature, not a bug. Indeed usually libraries do not contain debugging symbols and where is deemed appropriate an extra -dbg library package is built containing debugging information. Since the standard libraries are compiled with debugging support it seems like it would make sense to do the same for others. Yes, it might be slightly slower, but anyone who cares about speed will probably be compiling native code anyways. In the specific case of OCaml libraries I think we never discussed the issue and therefore I think the standard libraries just happen to be compiled that way (probably because they are compiled that way upstream) without any particular reason. So, at the moment I'm tagging this bug report as wontfix, but diverting the more general question of should we mandate inclusion of debugging symbols in OCaml bytecode libraries? to the debian-ocaml-maint mailing list. On one hand we should be consistent with the general library philosophy of not including debugging symbols in packages other than -dbg. On the other it is true that a user willing to have performances will use native code libraries, but is still true that native code libraries are not available everywhere ... I think getting a shorewall dump and looking at the lan2dsl chain in it would reveal to us more what he is talking about. It sounds to me like what he's describing is that policy logging is happening ahead of rules, which is definitely wrong. If so, we need to check whether this is something Tom has fixed since the release of Debian stable. Regards, Paul http://paulgear.webhop.net -- Did you know? I expect they're being scaled. xterm does treat them as double-width in all the default bitmap fonts in the resources; but it's only in 9x15 that the glyph doesn't render, which suggests to me another layer to the problem. I have a to-do item to make it configurable whether the built-in or system wcwidth() is used; looks like this case would be interesting to compare. I did not know that character width was determined by codepoint rather than by font-specific information, but if this is something Unicode is standardizing, I think that's a good thing. The code chart for this block of Unicode (Miscellaneous Technical)[1] seems to suggest that these glyphs should be fullwidth, or at least wide enough to have the angle brackets hug the other symbols they enclose, but I find it difficult to argue for the normativity of that observation without more background. Bug#418382: choose-mirror: Better handling of suite/codename; support oldstable

PLEASE UNSUBSCRIBE ME Guia Artistica www.guiaartistica.com.ar -Mensaje original- De: Frans Pop [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Enviado el: Lunes, 09 de Abril de 2007 11:13 a.m. Para: BTS submit Asunto: Bug#418382: choose-mirror: Better handling of suite/codename; support oldstable Package: choose-mirror I have been thinking that better support for oldstable would be good to have, even for netboot, floppy installations. This should be possible... During the release process for Etch, we also saw a somewhat related problem in choose-mirror with CD installs because the Release file on the mirrors had not been updated even though CD-ROMs were already at stable=etch. In generators/50mirror apt-setup sets the following based on the Release file on the CD-ROM: mirror/codename=etch mirror/suite=stable But choose-mirror will then check the mirror first for stable and thus finds sarge as codename. As the installation is now much more based on codename anyway, maybe we should ignore the suite a bit more and switch to matching primairily on codename. This would also get rid of having to set suite=codename in debian/rules for official releases. Alternatively, we could also let generators/50mirror set mirror/suite to the codename from the CD (similar to what we do in debian/rules). -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe.
